sooo recently, my friend asked my why i like g/t, what about it hooked me in and has kept me hooked for years..
I think it's the entire concept of g/t,, how much you can do with it. or it's just an unprocessed trauma thing ngl
Fluff... Just imagine the perspective of a tiny; this huge being that could hurt you, or worse; however, you have trust in them. You know they wouldn't. The one person who could hurt you the most won't. They're so careful but not to the point where you feel weak. They may be overly attentive at times, or maybe a little distant, but you'll know how much they love you when they pick you up in their clumsy hands with care.
or the perspective of a giant. A tiny little friend who doesn't see take you at surface level, even though they know what you're capable of. They just dont see you like that. They let you hold onto them or even trust you enough to let you put them in a pocket, maybe even sleeping on a pillow beside you. This person who is so vulnerable, opening themselves up to you and allowing you inside.
whether giant or tiny they don't 'other' you, they don't treat you like glass, nor as a monster. Even though you know the stark differences between you two, you are one in the same. Despite what others see you as, who else may hurt you.. this one anchor you have, who holds you steady, no matter how big or small they may be.
That's why i like g/t, whether it's the niche tropes or the cliche tropes. it's being loved despite the differences you may have. You could do anything with these stories, and they are so beautiful to see no matter what trope or genre. I love how creative this community is. That's why I love g/t <3

.... scared giants
I made a similar post like this before (giants having nightmares), but it's because i genuinely love the roles reversed.
Tinies are always written be afraid, and 'weak'. While i do enjoy tiny fearplay, i also like the giants being scared... its something about seeing such a large being being afraid (of someone they could quite literally swat away). I love seeing giants cowering away from such a smaller person.. It's so.. GRAAAHHH
somewhat feral giants who have been hunted by humans for so long. They are considered a monster. something that is hiding amongst the human village. they need to exterminate it.
In reality, the giant is harmless, probably just as scared of humans. it's been attacked so many times, scars tell its story through its skin; burns, bruises, and scars.
When a human comes into their forest, they threaten, and they bargain. They're defensive and repeatedly tell the human that they will hurt them.
The human tries to tell them that they actually don't want to kill them. The human quickly realizes that this giant isn't a threat..

A lot of the g/t narratives and dynamics I see revolve around the giant, in some way or another, dehumanizing the tiny: the giant sees their smaller counterpart as inferior, fragile, or even as a plaything. And that is really cool to explore as well but… what if we flip the script? What if we subvert that trope a bit?
What if the tiny isn't able to see the giant as a “person”.
Think about it! How easy it is to see someone who is so much bigger than you, who is so much more powerful, who is capable of so many things, how easy it is to see that person as something other. As something better than yourself. And how much that can be hurtful for both the giant and the tiny, since it entails that the tiny fails to recognize their friend or lover as an equal, as someone with feelings, desires, and vulnerabilities.
In this dynamic, not only we have a tiny with some pretty messed up self-esteem issues (to say the least), but we also have a giant that wishes to also be loved and respected by the tiny. Who doesn’t want to be seen as an object. They don't feel seen by what they truly are.
And it’s funny because, in the beginning, all of the tiny's awe and admiration might seem or even feel like love, but in reality it is not — or, depending on the point of view, it’s at the very least an extremely messed up interpretation of love. This type of "loving" can feel isolating, because it denies the giant of their personhood (is that a word?) and instead, they are placed on a pedestal so high that real emotional connection and intimacy becomes impossible.
It kinda feels like the reverse uno card to the “dehumanization” trope.
Or, if you really think about it, maybe it’s the tiny who is dehumanizing their own self for the sake of seeing the giant partner as this impossible, holier-than-thou, being. This concept adds another layer to the problem: someone who thinks so little of themselves next to someone else may not even realize the way they’re hurting the other. After all, they're far too insignificant for that, right? It’s as if, by elevating the giant to god-like status, the tiny avoids confronting their own ability to hurt or influence someone else, in this case, the giant. They outright ignore the ways in which their actions, their perceptions, and their emotional distance might be hurting their giant friend/partner.
All this “reverence” comes off as a form of objectification, not exactly in a sexual manner (although it definitely can be), but in the sense that when someone looks at me, I become an object for them, while they remain a subject.
I love this concept so much — I know it's not exclusive to g/t but it can definitely be enhanced by it. Just... that moment when we realize that others do not see us the same way we see ourselves.
Imagine all of the anguish that comes from this gap between the way the giant sees themselves and the way the tiny sees the giant.  They’re trapped by the other’s gaze, forever seen as something they are not.

Mute giants <3 i gotta post about them more..
Giants who can't verbally tell you that they won't hurt you, so they either have to resort to signing (if they know how) or straight up picking a tiny up to show them that they aren't going to do anything. There are various other options but!! not as fun
Having to prove with actions that you're not a threat because you literally can't get the words out. You have to either hope the tiny realizes what's going on and what you're trying to convey, or give up and let them go.
Oughhhh mute giants my beloved ...
also.. i should probably make an intro post ..

mmm i LOVE the concept of weresize.. Angst... Fluff.. So many possibilities.
More specifically, i like weresize in the giant aspect... I don't know what it is, but it's just something i love seeing.
maybe the character is actually a giant/tiny and a potion/spell/etc. is used to hide their true size. maybe it's a curse that they have to break.. or it simply works like a regular wear-creature affliction, where at a certain point in time they just shift.
Imagine Character A is affected by this weresize. They've been doing great at hiding it. No one knows what they turn into, how they mirror those around them.. only to then loom over everyone else in a matter of seconds... IF they're not careful..
After a day out with friends (Characters B, C, D), they rush home and away from prying eyes. I'd guess it feels relieving to shift after having to suppress yourself for so long, like trying to snuff out a flame inside of your core and finally letting it burn freely. In the comfort of their lonesome, they allow themselves to shift, to show their 'true' self.
However, unbeknownst to A, they had left something behind. As any good friend would, Character B had gone to return the item. Only, they see much more than they should've.
Character A notices, panics, and snatches up B. A tries to tell them that it's okay, that they won't hurt them, and that they shouldn't be here— At least, not right now. A begs B to not tell anyone, especially their friends. After remaining undetected for so long, someone has finally discovered their secret.
This could also be done vice versa, A shrinking rather than growing. Now, instead of feeling monstrous, they feel vulnerable and exposed.
tldr; i love g/t and involuntarily size shifting

i imagine most borrowers dont have a favorite food. i mean... they just enjoy whatever they can scrounge up.
funny concept to me tho.. borrowers who are extremely picky eaters. they KNOW what they like and dont like.
maybe they befriend the human they're stealing from and the human offers them food.... just for them to spit it out and act APALLED that they were offered something so horrid.
borrowers who are stuck up, but they are in NO position to be picky or conceited..

very surprised that some of my little g/t rambles are getting over 100 notes!!! i know it's not much to celebrate, but thank you :] means a lot that ppl actually like and agree with some of the weird little thoughts in my brain !!!
anyhow.. little thought for tonight is feral packs of tinies. bunch of little hyenas who shove pins into ankles and immediately scatter like bugs when confronted by anything. a bunch of borrowers teaming up to completely ransack a kitchen at night, just for the human to come in and see 10 tiny little people with thumbtacks, button shields, and who knows what else.
they all immediately scram when the lights come on, but honestly if they tried they could take down a human

another trope i love;
tinies lying about being afraid of giants. Maybe a tiny and a giant are friends, and the giant thinks they're all good!!! they're friends and their tiny buddy doesn't fear them anymore!!
Little do they know the tiny is sort of terrified of them still. Maybe it's not them specifically but someone or something so much bigger than themselves..
They probably lie because they dont want to hurt their feelings, and they DO cherish the relationship. They dont want to let their displaced fear get in the way of everything.
One day, it'll come to light. Maybe a flinch or a strange request to 'not hurt them', something so small that means so much in the moment, it's so telling.
