January Jewels 2020
I’ve purposely put off writing this monthly wrap-up because, well, christ. January was a terrible month. I don’t need to go into the details of why, but the consensus from everyone that I’ve talked to fully agrees with me on this. What the hell happened? Starting a new decade is supposed to be great. In any case, I’ll always have high hopes for the future. And I’m just thankful to begin a new month. Here’s what went down in the pit that was January 2020.
First things first, I recapped how my 2019 resolutions turned out. Why don’t more people do this? Where’s the accountability in reviewing your past resolutions? They’re not fucking birthday wishes, they’re intentions! More people need to follow through with this, even if the results aren’t what you hoped for.
I made my 2020 resolutions.
I fell absolutely in love with this sketch.
I did two podcasts with Nathan - one where we talked about the pope incident and one where I absolutely scream at him about Hillary.
I read Jenny Slate’s new book as well as a tiny little book about how to live a good life.
I ended up buying another J. Crew swimsuit (the same one I bought a few months ago, but this time in red) and I have no regrets.
In love with Trader Joe’s (dairy free) coconut whipped cream, I can’t stop using it in hot chocolate.
I rewatched (or watched for the first time, I truly can’t remember) The Staircase and it’s so good. I’m pretty sure Marla got me MP3 copies of this years ago and I did watch it, but I completely forgot about it in detail. Such a good watch. If you’ve already seen it, do you know about the owl theory? It’s a wild one, but, like, I think an owl did it now?
I’ve been using a small bottle of OUAI’s Wave Spray and if I can figure out how to not overspray it, it’s a great product. Once you use it though, your hair only looks good that day. After you sleep on it, your hair looks like shit. (Is that true of all hair products? I have absolutely no idea.)
Bought this Banana Republic top for $13 on sale and I love it because it does not feel like it cost so little.
I don’t know if it’s a Canadian brand but I have found a wicked alternative to Dollarama: Buck or Two. I went to one in Brampton and they’ve got everything.
I watched most of the SNL with Jennifer Lopez and wow did it suck. 99% of the sketches were basically “She’s pretty. That’s the joke.” Fucking hated it. They do this a lot of the time with certain actresses and I can’t ever tell if it’s because the actress loves doing these sketches or they’re afraid she can’t be funny. Whatever the reason is, blow my brains out, please.
I went to the Ear Inn in the city and it was lovely! Super old place. Service was great. Burger was great.
I went to Glossier with the intention of buying the cheek stain and then decided against it. It’s not a good product. I literally pinched my cheeks and got a better rosiness.
I came across probably my favourite winter children’s book of all time, The Snowman by Raymond Briggs. Look at one page of this magic.
Tumblr media
I was so happy to hear about this matter finally being settled in New York.
I went to The Dutch again for Restaurant Week for their steak tartare and it’s just heaven on a plate.
I rewatched the great What Lies Beneath and man, it’s still just such a great movie.
As you may have heard, Papyrus is going out of business, so I’ve popped in twice to see what the closing deals are and they aren’t worth it yet (only 30% off! C’mon! I won’t get out of bed for at least 60%), so I’ll keep stopping in every so often until they’ve become desperate.
Love this part of a recent SNL (below). (If you can’t see it in Canada, search for “white male rage SNL.”
youtube
I finally went to Boulud Sud for their pasta happy hour and man was it not worth it. The place has a terrible setup if you’re sitting at the bar, the food was absolutely nothing special and had ridiculous portion sizes. It’s also a bad sign when the bread is tastier than the entree. Super disappointing.
I tried on the bras and underwear from LIVELY in Soho and even though it’s priced reasonably, I couldn’t find anything I loved. I have a feeling that I could be into it though, so I’ll go again sometime in the future for sure.
I’ll forever love the lunch special at Pil Pil on the Upper East Side. I know I probably bring this up too much, but man. Love tapas.
I can’t stop buying sunglasses for sale at ALDO. And I won’t.
Tumblr media
I finished season one of The West Wing and it was really good. I keep forgetting about it, but I should stick with it. People, like, loved that show, didn’t they?
I started using Sol De Janeiro’s Bum Bum Cream… on my butt. That’s what it’s for, no? So far, I mean… it feels smooth? It’s not at all greasy, which I like. Seems weird to have a cream just for your butt, but who am I to criticize.
Ate the fish tacos at Summer Salt and they’re good! It’s insane and great that they sell margaritas at a fast casual place, too.
Very into this Pat McGrath mascara that I got as a Sephora reward.
Love this Wells For Boys sketch (below) from a few years ago that I just saw for the first time (thanks for showing me, Irene!)
youtube
I haven’t been there in years, but I went to Sweet Afton for happy hour in Astoria the other day and had the pickle martini which actually wasn’t terrible. Love that place.
Tried the lunch burger at Peter Luger finally! And yes it was a good burger (love that they use American cheese and the bun was very good even though it's not a potato bun). Steakhouse burgers are always hard for me to rate since a steakhouse burger is a real *entree* unlike the regular, everyday burgers that other places have which are not as big and overwhelming. An everyday burger is easy to rate since it's either great, overrated or shit. A steakhouse burger has nuances, how juicy is too juicy? How's the quality of the meat? What are the ideal toppings? Should someone shoot me for my extensive burger thoughts? Yes.
I went to see a free orchestral performance put on by Julliard at Lincoln Center and it was great. It reminded me so much of going to my brother Gary’s recitals when I was a kid, just loved it.
Had dinner at Portale. The pasta was insane. This place might be a rival for L’Artusi! Dare I say it! Every bite was phenomenal. MUST return. (Noteworthy: it also just got two stars in the Times.)
LOVED this piece about Ricky Gervais and the Golden Globes. Favourite line: “The least risky thing in the world is announced apathy.“
Maybe you don’t know this, but 90% of post offices in the U.S. have bulletproof glass between the workers and the customers. It’s obviously because awful things have happened, but I’ve been going to this one post office in the city on 23rd street that doesn’t have the glass and the workers are SO MUCH MORE PLEASANT. I wish all locations were like this one. Just a thought.
Just bought another one of these UNIQLO shirts that I love in dark grey.
Every January I make sure to:
Mark down all holidays/birthdays/anniversaries (Valentine’s Day, Daylight Saving Times, Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Thanksgiving)
Check expiration dates for passport/license/health card/insurance and write down any important renewal dates
I’ve watched the first two new episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm and it fucking blows. There was only one thing I laughed at (when a server thought Larry was “oggling” her but he was really just keeping an eye on her tray with pigs in blankets) but OTHER THAN THAT, what a piece of shit season so far! I fucking hated the part in one episode where he videotapes the consent given between him and some woman as they’re making out. ALSO, and this has happened a few times over the seasons, he’s recycling fucking Seinfeld jokes. FROM THE SHOW. Talking about when it’s too late to get “Happy New Year-ed”? Are we kidding here?! Fucking lazy as hell. I might just stop watching.
I watched the new Taylor Swift documentary on Netflix and it’s really good. Even if you have zero opinion on her, I really liked it. (It also introduced me to this great song.)
Things that I’m looking forward to this month: seeing a Raptors game at Barclays Center, finally sitting down and watching season two of Shrill in its entirety, reading Joan Rivers’ book Enter Talking and and maybe going to another Restaurant Week lunch before the end date. February, please oh please don’t be as terrible as January.
If you’ve got any interest in reading last month’s roundup, you can see what went down in December over here!

Reviews 223: Seahawks
Seahawks are perhaps my favorite producers, with the duo of Pete Fowler and Jon Tye making frequent and far-out excursions into the musical worlds I love most: phaser-blasted new age, sea-foam space music, ambient dream fusion, coastal jazz exotica, mystical dolphin drone, meditative saxophone prog, rainbow toned krautrock, and tropical lounge pop. They’ve been on a hot streak as of the last few years, starting with 2017’s Escape Hatch and Starways, which collected some of their most confident and focused sonic explorations, including the balearic pop masterpiece “Valparaiso” (and the equally breathtaking remix by Nick Mackrory). Then last year, Jon and Pete joined forces with vibratory healer Laraaji for Eternal Beams, an incredibly beautiful expanse of new age spiritualism and restorative rain magic. Now, Seahawks have released Eyes of the Moon on Cascine, an LP inspired by the Hopi Tribe and Sufi teacher Hazrar Inayat Khan that musically explores smeared out zones of aquatic space synthesis and meditative Mu-Tron Bi-Phase mesmerism, while also working in sea-blue guitar atmospheres, island breeze rhythms, psychedelic chill-out rituals, world jazz drifts (featuring the EWI wind-controller/synth), and dreampop sways wherein mermaid choirs and angel voices swim together through oceans of starlight. The artwork by Yoshirotten is also something to behold…an immersive and otherworldly visual experience featuring paradise panoramas of pink, purple, and blue and futuristic landscapes fading into granular hallucinations.
Seahawks - Eyes of the Moon (Cascine, 2019) In “Emergence,” phaser-waves wash over airy shaker rhythms and machine cymbal taps as Amy Gedgaudas flows over top with a quasi-stoned monologue…like some sort of spaced out god floating amidst clouds of every color. Angelic choral progressions and intergalactic pad orchestrations pan back and forth as their melodies uplift the soul, the whole thing evoking early 90s The Orb at their most zoned out and euphoric. The phaser motions suffusing the mix are heavily modulated as everything is slowly obscured into galactic ether, all while vague hints of palm-muted guitar tropicalia from Alik Peters-Deacon waft through synthetic approximations of intergalactic transmissions and satellite calibrations. The vibe shifts dramatically at some point as shadows move in, bringing with them a sensual darkness built from bass pulses, underwater EWI and saxophone ambiance, and vibrato smothered guitars playing themes for alien deserts, all while the cymbal and shaker rhythms continue their fantasy glide. Eventually the effervescent orchestrations and narcotizing choir ecstasies return...their sea-spray motions wrapping around the spirit as dolphin mystics cast spells of light. But the effect is all-to-brief, as the conclusion of the track sees the ominous energies returning, with sparkling idiophones and bubble-clouds of chiming treble swelling above smeared out sequences, enveloping bass currents, and haunted string synth swirls.
Tumblr media
Flowers of static bloom within wavering bass motions at the start of the "Eyes of the Moon”, as marimbas are slowly sequenced through tropical dream patterns. Citizen Helene’s synth-shrouded voice flows like a warmly pulsing body of light in an ocean of ether as tranced out phaserwaves descend over the mix (reminding me of Experimental Audio Research in the process). Kosmische sequences flow alongside seaside idiophones and chiming tones ring out from eternal mountaintops as a pulsating throb emerges, built from hushed drum movements that flange and phase wildly. Crystalline tones create balearic tapestries of aquamarine, electronics mimic seabirds, tambourines jangle away, and squelching sequences build in strength while soft cascades of synthetic fire glide through new age drone smears, eventually leading to a coda of meditative static and ominous shadow magic. “Color Temples” follows with an interstellar samba shuffle that features woodblocks and cymbals dancing playfully over warm kick drums. Dan Hillman’s EWI-generated feedback streaks intertwine with Jake Calladine’s spirit guitar, all soaring leads and wigged out prog descents dazzling the mind. As the rhythms cut away, they leave behind a dreamscape of strangely flowing pad movements, with resonant trails and phaser streaks weaving dayglo mirages. And when the subdued exotica rhythms return, they are surrounded by slow motion vortices of heart-melting enchantment while gaseous leads hint at glorious melodies…like themes for cosmic castles and mermaid kingdoms obscured through foggy fx layers.
Tumblr media
Rapidly revolving whirlpools of white noise move through amorphous bodies of dream synthesis in “Astral Echoes” while whalesong drones wrap around modulating brass pads. Faith House’s lonely cyborg voice drifts freely amidst blowing space winds and sad string fantasias while feedback bodies glow like an infinite web of gemstones. A playful arp moves through the mix only to be repeatedly overwhelmed by boiling bodies of electronic ether while sorcerous siren songs flow out from a mysterious island hidden within the sonic miasma. Dan Hillman's cosmic sax blends into the myriad layers of synthetic sound and as Alik Peter-Deacon’s sparkling guitars vibrate through the air, we flow into a smokey outro of twilight jazz enchantment and tremolo riff intoxication. Then in “Run Through My Mind,” schools of rainbow fish swim through static oceans and pan-pipes introduce a spellbinding synth arp that sometimes wavers and wiggles as if threatening to split into two…like some sort of synthesizer cell division. Pianos are smeared into an LSD dreamfog as smoldering waves of noise crash onto some interstellar shore and during a dramatic drop out, everything seems like it is being sucked backwards through a blackhole. After the resulting stretch of silence, triumphant synth chords reintroduce the sequential fantasy melodies while the body is overwhelmed by white light drone hazes and pearlescent clouds of meditative noise that swirl forever…these multilayered vortices obscuring melodic fever dreams and kosmische color crystals floating deep with the hallucinogenic space storm.
Tumblr media
In “Over & Over,” swinging exotica basslines ride an energetic downbeat rhythm of pillowy kicks, shuffling cymbal sizzles, and woodblocks and rimshots ring-modulating towards a sunset horizon. The heavenly horns of Dan Hillman and Simon Dobson are stretched and transformed into intergalactic goo…their harmonizing leads, scatting breaths, desperate wails, and gaseous moans surrounded by psychedelic wisps of fusion synth soloing. Things sound as if beamed in from an alternate dimensions…the sounds spectral, faded, and vaporous. And as the song works towards big band climax, poppy old world brass harmonies waltz over bongo and conga cascades while sea-creatures breach and dance together on shimmering blue wave crests. Morphing and mutating waves of granular noise splash off of Alik Peters-Deacon’s romantic guitar meditations in “Dancing Inner Space,” with golden arpeggios and chords flowing on liquid vibrato currents. All around swell blistering clouds of noise-drone transcendence and the seaside percussion of Charlie Michael works into a fantasy jazz rhythm…this pitch-perfect balearic sway moved around by seaside fusion tones and ambient space drones. Breaths and voices lurk deep within the amorphous synth haze and at some point the track zones out completely, seeing starshine electronics, heavily effected saxophones, and diamond-toned clusters emanate from the center of the cosmos as hovering drones merge with purifying blasts of white light.
Tumblr media
“5th World Symphony” starts with tones of primordial creation…as if the birth of our universe is being told through a Mu-Tron Bi-Phase…layer after layer sweeping together through deeply hypnotic and vocal resonances. Lush e-pianos enter with bass chords floating the soul and high-up leads wandering through new age cloudrealms as tropical hand drums flow alongside the kind of intoxicating and fusion-leaning synthbass perfection that dominated Escape Hatch and Invisible Sunrise, all bubbling and bouncing lines exploring crystal caverns and underwater expanses. As ocean birds flit through rainbow hazes, we build towards a glorious climax of Phil Collins ethno-jazz led by double time cymbal patterns and paradise leads that swell the heart, all until the track breaks down into a cosmic slop of modulating sonic vapors and indescribable color radiations. When the basslines return, they now flow untethered from any beat and are thus transformed into a hypnotic dreamsequence leading a deep dive into some glowing star ocean. Everything seems increasingly obscured by purifying washes of starlight until suddenly, a swaggering slow motion disco beat emerges from the celestial void, bringing with it vibes of dubbed out dancefloor magic. Mystical flutes drift above tranced out synth repetitions while cymbals phase chaotically and piercing lasers background guitars that sound more like harps…their enchanting lullabies emanating from far below the surface of an eternal sea…each note rippling through the water and trailed by golden clouds of glitter.

Important programming languages
There are around 300 programming languages out there in our country. The interest and distinction of programming languages waver every year. Moreover, new programming languages are going with engaging features.
With everything taken into account, which programming language would it be a smart thought for you to learn? Learning another programming language is reliably an endeavor of your time and mental capacity. If you are a pre-arranged designer or accepting you unquestionably know a couple of programming vernaculars, you can get comfortable with a forte, current one. Lately, I have made a blog section where I have short-recorded seven current programming languages worth learning:
However, if you are starting your programming calling in 2021 or accepting you need to get comfortable with your first or second programming language, it is quick to learn one of the norm and set up programming languages. The best programming vernaculars to learn in 2021 are recorded underneath. Recorded program languages are top 10 programming languages in India.
Top programming languages of 2021 in India
Python
Right when Guido van Rossum made Python during the 1990s as his side endeavor, nobody thought it would be the most notable programming language one day. Considering all a lot of apparent rankings and industry designs, I put Python as the primary programming language for the most part.
Python has not seen a short lived rising in reputation like Java or C/C++. In like manner, Python is definitely not a hazardous programming language. Regardless, from the soonest beginning stage, Python has focused in on fashioner experience and endeavored to cut down the limit to programming so that younger students can moreover form creation grade code.
In 2008, Python went through a tremendous update and improvement with the cost of introducing basic breaking changes by introducing Python 3.
Today, Python is universal and used in various spaces of programming progression, with no sign of moving down. Python is best programming language to learn in 2021
Key Highlights:
The USP of Python is its language plan. It is significantly useful, rich, fundamental, yet astounding. Python has five star joining with C/C++ and can impeccably offload the focal processor strong tasks to C/C++. Python has an amazingly unique neighborhood backing.
Pros:
Supports various systems and stages. Article Situated Programming (Oh no) decided. Helps with improving Developer’s Profitability. Grants you to scale even the most puzzling applications easily. Wide Help Libraries
Cons:
Note ideal for Portable Figuring. Python’s informational index permission layer is fairly juvenile and rough.
Use/Application: Web and Web Improvement, Logical and Numeric applications, Work region GUIs, Business applications. It is by and large used in AI(Artificial Insight) and AI space.
JavaScript
During the chief program war, Netscape had alloted Brendan Eich to develop another programming language for its Program. Brendan Eich had developed the hidden model in only ten days, and the rest is history. Programming engineers regularly despised JavaScript in its underlying days because of its defenseless language plan and nonappearance of features.
All through the long haul, JavaScript has formed into a multi-perspective, unquestionable level, incredible programming language. The key colossal jump forward of JavaScript came in 2009 when Ryan Dahl conveyed cross-stage JavaScript runtime Node.js and enabled JavaScript to run on Worker Side.
The other enormous forward jump of JavaScript came around 2010 when Google conveyed a JavaScript based Web progression structure AngularJS.
Today, JavaScript is perhaps the most by and large used programming lingos in the world and runs on basically everywhere: Programs, Workers, Cell telephones, Cloud, Holders, Miniature controllers.
Key Highlights:
JavaScript is the undisputed ruler in Program programming. Because of Node.js, JavaScript offers event driven programming, which is especially suitable for I/O significant tasks. JavaScript has gone through enormous modernization and update over the latest all in all an extended period of time, especially in 2015, 2016, and later.
Pros:
Client side JavaScript is incredibly speedy as it will in general be arrived behind schedule in the client side program. JavaScript is by and large simple to learn. It can work effectively with various lingos and can be used in an immense variety of uses. Oil monkey support to make pieces out of JavaScript which can execute on unequivocal pages
Cons:
JavaScript simply allows single inheritance, so different heritages are unreasonable. No copy or comparable procedure is open in JavaScript. JavaScript interpreted differently by different projects. Use/Applications: JavaScript usage join web/adaptable application headway, game development, and work region application improvement.
Java
Java is potentially the most irksome programming vernaculars to date. Beholding back to the ’90s, business applications were primarily developed using C++, which was extremely obfuscated and stage subordinate. James Gosling and his gathering at Sun brought the obstacle down to make business applications by offering significantly less perplexing, object-arranged, unraveled programming language that also maintains Multi-hanging programming.
Java has achieved Stage independence by making Java Virtual Machine (JVM), which distracted the low-level Working Framework from fashioners and gave the first “Make Once, Run wherever” programming language. Also, JVM offers age rubbish variety, which manages the Item life cycle.
Recently, Java has lost a segment of its business areas to significantly design pleasing present day tongues and the rising of various lingos, especially Python, JavaScript. Moreover, JVM isn’t actually Cloud friendly considering its huge size. Prophet has actually introduced significant approving charges for JDK, which will check Java’s pervasiveness further.
Fortunately, Java is managing its inadequacies and endeavoring to make Java fit for Cloud through the GraalVM drive. Furthermore, in OpenJDK, there is a free choice as opposed to the prohibitive Prophet JDK.
Java is at this point the principle programming language for tries. Java is seen as a best programming language to learn in 2020
Key Highlights:
Java offers an astounding, feature rich, multi-perspective, translated programming language with a moderate assumption to learn and adjust and high specialist productivity. Java is rigidly in invert suitable, which is a basic essential for business applications. Java’s runtime JVM is a showstopper of Programming and a champion among other virtual machines in the business.
Pros:
Article Arranged language. Java offers APIs for different activities like Data set affiliation, arranging, XML parsing, utilities, etc. Inconceivable open source Fast Improvement mechanical assemblies. A huge number of open source libraries
Cons:
Memory the chiefs in Java is exorbitant. The deficiency of configurations can confine you to make great data structures.
Use/Application: Java for the most part used for making Android applications, web applications, and Enormous data.
C#
In 2000, Tech beast Microsoft decided to make their Article Arranged C like programming language C# as a segment of their .NET drive, which will be directed (run on a Virtual Machine like Java).
The veteran language maker Anders Hejlsberg arranged C# as a segment of Microsoft’s Regular Language Drive (CLI) stage where various other (mostly Microsoft’s lingos) orchestrated into a center design which runs on a Runtime named Normal Language Runtime (CLR).
During bygone times, C# was censured as a pantomime of Java. However, later, both of the tongues meandered. In like manner, Microsoft’s approving of C# compiler/runtime isn’t for each situation clear. Notwithstanding the way that Microsoft is as of now not maintaining its licenses under the Microsoft Open Detail Venture, it may change.
Today, C# is a multi-perspective programming language that is by and large used on the Windows stage just as on the iOS/Android stage (as a result of Xamarin) and Linux stage. Still c# saw as the best programming language to learn in 2020.
Key Highlights:
Anders Hejlsberg endeavored to convey C# by and by from Java’s shadow and give its own character. Maintained by Microsoft and being in the business for seemingly forever, C# has huge conditions of libraries and frameworks. Like Java, C# is moreover stage independent (due to CLR) and runs on Windows, Linux, Cell telephones.
Pros:
C# uses essentially similar accentuation which follows by C so it direct for the people who know C language. Basic Mix with Windows. Totally consolidated with the .NET library which offers induction to a document of convenience and support. Safer than its namesakes (C/++) as pointer types are not permitted
Cons:
It grants pointers in ‘risky’ blocks.
Usage applications: Broadly used in Big business Cross-Applications Advancement, Web Applications

Imperialism and Exceptionalism in the MCU: Major Spoilers for Avengers Endgame
Tumblr media
It’s Academy Award season! And once again, the Academy has limited blockbuster movie nominations to visual effects and similar production awards. Never mind the whole of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is an unprecedented feat of cinema. In honor of its nomination for visual effects, here is my deep dive into the climax of the third phase of the MCU, Avengers: Endgame. I had a blast watching Avengers: Endgame. Overall, I thought the film delivered, and served up everything that the best of comic book crossovers have to offer. I loved the Iconic stills and panels galore (such as that shot with all the female heroes. I do enjoy pandering in my comic book movies. Sue me). I cheered for the fun character moments (like Cap with Mjonir or Doc Green or anything with Scott Lang). And they went full sci-fi comic-booky goodness with continuity-choking, flimsily-orchestrated time travel. Furthermore, the the original team’s individual character arcs were tied up with varying degrees of tidiness. Not too shabby, Marvel. Not too shabby. However, Marvel Studios did solidify one thematic element that it never fully committed to, and it solidified in the direction I was hoping would not be the case. In Avengers: Endgame, Marvel Studios definitively illustrated that the ends justify the means, and exceptionalism belongs to the heroes. In Iron Man’s final moments, with an admittedly badass “I am Iron Man,” the hero who started the MCU snaps his Infinity Gauntlet clad fingers, and eradicates Thanos and his time-traveling space army (I warned you about spoilers). Iron Man uses the Infinity Gauntlet, essentially a weapon of mass destruction, to bring about victory. He uses the same weapon used by Thanos to bring unprecedented devastation at the finale of Infinity War.  And with that endgame snap, Marvel Studios makes the statement that the problem isn’t the existence of WMDs, it is who uses them. And for that, I am disappointed. Marvel Studios has flirted with the ethics of exceptionalism, feigning to examine the military conduct of empires and the powers they employ. Ultimately, the MCU devolved in its exploration imperial ethics into a flashy violent victory that never calls into question a WMD’s very use. And it is a shame, because the first film had thoughts on that. Let’s journey through the MCU, shall we.
Tumblr media
In 2008, Jon Favreau brought us Iron Man. It is the film that begins it all. Tony Stark, the callous billionaire playboy, is kidnapped by a terrorist cell following a demonstration of Stark Industries’ premier artillery, the Jericho. In captivity, Stark realizes that his company’s weapons are the very ones being sold to terrorist groups and used against the  innocent. Following his escape, Stark works to move away from Stark Industries involvement in the US Military complex, and strive to focus more resources in the development of the clean energy. The MCU kicks off with a critical eye towards how the United States develops and trades weapons, making the third act’s villain a fitting climatic foe. Who pushes the hardest to build and sell weapons regardless of the outcome? Why Jeff Bridges’ Obadiah Stane, the Iron Monger. Phase 1 of the MCU sticks fairly close to this critical eye. The Incredible Hulk is hunted down by the US military so they can continue to use him for R&D as they develop their machine. Even Captain America is initially used as a propaganda star before being deployed in the fray of WWII. The question of how the US develops and employs its military resources is largely front and center. And then Phase 2 moves forward with hesitancy and reticence.
Tumblr media
Captain America: The Winter Soldier was the Russo Brothers’ premier endeavor in the MCU, and it thrilled to no end. A phase and a half later, it still arguably remains the MCU film with the tightest plot and the best cinematography. However, the film sets itself up to be a critique of government surveillance in the name of security which, in 2014, was as timely as ever following the Snowden revelations of the previous year. Then the major plot twist of the film (albeit a fantastic one) shifts that critique on a dime. The reveal that HYDRA had been infiltrating SHEILD for decades and into its top tiers of administration comes the revelation that the expanded surveillance measures being pushed are part of a fanatical Nazi-remnant conspiracy. One could argue the ethical issue presented in Winter Soldier becomes moot because it was never truly a “US initiative” in the first place. Captain America’s suspicion and claims of what is “un-American” are shown to be just that: ploys from outside interests and foreign powers (sorta). Joss Whedon’s Avengers: Age of Ultron is blip on the radar. Stark wants to increase global security. Capt adamantly disagrees. There’s a virus that creates Ultron. Chaos ensues. Stark kind of looks like a failure. It seems in that moment that Stark’s desire for increased surveillance (oddly similar to the HYDRA conspiracy in Winter Soldier) is proven misplaced. The Russo Brothers continue to play with that thread in Captain America: Civil War. The Sokovia Accords place the Avengers under United Nations oversight and require the registration of individuals with enhanced abilities. Stark, who is continually trying to find effective ways to save the world (and protect it from… well… the Avengers) signs without hesitation. Steve Rogers has his ethical qualms, but the story soon forgets the Accords as it becomes far more focused on the capture of Bucky Barnes, as well as the assassination of Tony’s father Howard Stark. The tensions between Captain America and Iron Man coming to a head monopolize the run time. By the film’s final act, the Sokovia Accords are all but forgotten, and with it the ethical question of government control and oversight.
Tumblr media
Phase 3 did bring some note worthy films that rub against this trend (a trend arguably strongest in the work of the Russos). Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 and Thor: Ragnarok wrestle with the legacy of colonialism. Starlord learns he is the son of Ego the living planet. Ego took a sexual partner on every world he visited in the interest of planting a literal seed to consume and transform that world. Thor is faced with the reality that Asgard, the kingdom to which he is heir, was built upon the violent conquest of other realms and the exploitation of his older, imprisoned sister Hera. Ragnarok’s final moments are poignant. The only way to save the people of Asgard and defeat Hera is to literally burn down the system and structures that were built by his father Odin. Taika Waititi has crafted a clear opinion on what it takes to remedy the legacy of empire. Destroy the structures and save the people who inhabit them. I think it is particularly brilliant and stands out as shining gem of a movie in the MCU. And, of course, there is Black Panther. While Guardians Vol. 2 and Thor: Ragnarok examine colonialism and empire, they do so in traditional fantasy/sci-fi fashion. With the distance of a world that is galaxies or realms away, the setting never so close to Earth as to make the analogue too obvious. Black Panther has no such distance. This is the film with what may be the most critical eye in the MCU. Woven throughout it are discussions of race and heritage, of violence and oppression, and of the shortcomings of isolationism. There are many far better equipped who have written about these themes in detail, and you should definitely track them down. For the purpose of this piece, it is important that Black Panther takes the questions of legacy, power, and resources, and plays them out on screen. It is fought out in the philosophical battle between Erik Stevens and T’Challa. It is a discussion that T’Challa takes directly to the land of his ancestors to insist “You were wrong!” The themes of resources and empire present in the first Iron Man and in Thor: Ragnarok are turned up to 11 in Black Panther. It is the only film in the MCU where the antagonist’s perspective and philosophy fundamentally shifts those of the protagonist. T’Challa will forever be different kind of king, a king unlike any previous king of Wakanda, solely because of Erik Stevens.
Tumblr media
And yet, I can’t help but wonder. Why is the film with the most critical eye the one where the protagonist experiences the most concrete transformation of character, the one that is predominantly concerned with people of color? Why is it an African kingdom that experiences such a radical change in its philosophy of leadership? As previously noted, any conversation of the sort related to the US in the previous films is either made moot or overshadowed by the interpersonal conflict in the Avengers team.  Following Black Panther was the much anticipated release of the Russo Brothers’ Avengers: Infinity War. I wrote about Infinity War on this blog before, and hoped for the Russos’ to set forth an answer to Thanos’ philosophy of resources and his theology of scarcity. The film ends with the infamous Snap. We watch as half of the life in the universe turns to ash before our eyes. It is tragic and the original Avengers team is left speechless.
Tumblr media
It is tragic. And yet, the Russos found it fitting to have the Avengers employ the same tool in their defeat of Thanos. We see the same visual effect as the enemy is turned to ash. While one could argue for this moment of desperation, it is perhaps the one act that Tony Stark shows the most confidence in performing. And the rest of the world praises him for it. The ethics of the decision do not register on the Marvel radar. Once again, Avengers: Endgame was a wild ride I enjoyed watching, but its ethics of war and empire come up short. Apparently it is not the existence of a weapon that is problematic, just the one which uses it. And now the Universe once again faces Thanos’ scarcity question… At least the world is saved I guess. Best programming language to learn
There are around 300 programming languages out there in our country. The interest and distinction of programming lingos waver every year.
Lately, I have made a blog section where I have short-recorded seven current programming tongues worth learning:
However, if you are starting your programming calling in 2021 or accepting you need to get comfortable with your first or second programming language, it is quick to learn one of the norm and set up programming lingos. The best programming vernaculars to learn in 2021 are recorded underneath. Recorded program lingos are top 10 programming languages in India.
Pros: C# uses essentially similar accentuation which follows by C so it direct for the people who know C language. Basic Mix with Windows. Totally consolidated with the .NET library which offers induction to a document of convenience and support. Safer than its namesakes (C/++) as pointer types are not permitted
Cons: It grants pointers in ‘risky’ blocks.
Usage applications: Broadly used in Big business Cross-Applications Advancement, Web Applications For more details visit this programming languages to learn blog of Smartknower.

Ranking the top 10 personnel moves of the 2018 MLS season
USA Today Sports Images
October 18, 20184:17PM EDT
As we near the end of the regular season, the time is ripe to weigh which squad moves made by MLS clubs have borne the juiciest fruit.
Bear in mind, this is not a straight production and performance ranking of the best transfers made. Fit and influence in a new team is also highly important to winning, so the same goes here.
League general managers have done such a fine job adding impact pieces to their roster puzzles that our honorable mentions collection is exhaustive and hard to argue: Adama Diomande, Cory Burke, Rod Fanni, Benny Feilhaber, Aleksandar Katai, Darlington Nagbe, Cristian Penilla, Diego Rossi, Johnny Russell, Danilo Silva, Ismael Tajouri-Shradi, Walker Zimmerman.
No. 10: Felipe Gutierrez
Felipe Gutierrez | USA Today Sports Images
I went back and forth between Gutierrez and Russell for this spot, but in the end, had to give it to the Chile veteran because of his clear advantage in replacement value. After all, he moved out of his optimal position to bring a new flavor to Benny Feilhaber’s old spot.
He’s enjoyed easily his best offensive season since leaving his homeland six years ago while remaining one of the top tacklers in the MLS. The clincher? Sporting KC are a Supporters’ Shield-esque 9-3-3 when he starts, and a middling 6-5-5 when he doesn’t.
No. 9: Kei Kamara
The Vancouver striker is hardly a silent or sneaky guy, and yet somehow, he’s quietly put in the second-best season of his career. Kamara has given the Whitecaps the cobra’s head they’ve lacked since Camilo departed after the 2013 season, potting 14 goals (six of them game-winners, good for third in MLS) to go with five assists.
He’s provided all that production in fewer than 2,000 minutes, and the team simply doesn’t run as smoothly when he’s not on the field (1-3-2 when Kamara doesn’t play). And for all of his on-field value, it might actually pale in comparison to the advanced tutelage he’s offered to Alphonso Davies.
No. 8: Kim Kee-hee/Tim Parker/Milton Valenzuela
You know I love a good cheat pick, and this one’s a tripleheader. Let’s call it the “Wins Above Replacement” backline crew, to steal a baseball term. Simply put, their teams all would have suffered a significant amount if forced to turn to the next guy on the depth chart.
A safety officer on and off the ball, Kee-hee has stepped into the heart of a Seattle defense that had developed what you might call “Roman Torres problems.” The Sounders have logged 13 of their 15 wins and conceded less than a goal per game when the South Korea defender starts.
Over in New York, Parker has proved the perfect partner to Aaron Long on a team that often forces their center backs to fend for themselves on the run. The Red Bulls are 1-3-1 while allowing two goals per game when the hometown boy has sat this season.
Finally, Valenzuela has given Columbus Crew SC great balance in both directions. Looking north-south, the young DP is a top tackler who also stands third in the league among defenders in key passes. And by outproducing the left wingers that have played in front of him, he’s also scared opponents off of crowding Harrison Afful’s side.
No. 7: Kaku
A lot of fingernails got chewed to the quick when the Red Bulls dealt away Sacha Kljestan, but that quickly became old news once the season started. Alejandro Romero Gamarra, better known as Kaku, fit right in with the Supporters’ Shield contenders right away in his debut MLS season (no small feat), making sure Bradley Wright-Phillips would not go hungry up top.
The playmaker dribbles past defenders, hits a mean splitting pass, gives up the ball far less than one would expect from a final third operator and presses like a demon, a certain requirement at Red Bull Arena. Because of all this, he stands tied for fourth in the league with 14 assists, and all five of his goals have been game-winners.
No. 6: Saphir Taider
It has become quite de rigueur of late to moan about how underrated Nacho Piatti is up in Montreal. These complainers are not wrong, but I’ve got hot news for them: The three-time All-Star and 2016 Best XI honoree is not even the most underappreciated player on his team.
It says here that distinction goes to Taider, the do-it-all midfielder who’s the main difference in a side that has already surpassed last year’s point total by four with two games remaining. The Algeria star is second on the team with seven goals and third with eight assists by running their bread-and-butter counter, and gets stuck in defensively without fouling much. Without Taider, Montreal aren’t even in the playoff race.
No. 5: Raul Ruidiaz
The Peru striker only arrived at midseason, but his transformative powers have not gone unnoticed. Due to another Jordan Morris injury setback, Seattle coaches and fans spent the first four months of the season bemoaning the lack of an attacker who could stretch the field and unnerve defenders.
That all ended with the arrival of Ruidiaz, who give defenders fits, which in turn affords Sounders orchestrator Nico Lodeiro both space and a top target. Yeah, he’s bagged seven goals in 12 games, and that’s great. More importantly, Seattle are 10-2-0 with two goals scored per game when he plays (vs. just under a half-goal per game without him on the field).
No. 4: Borek Dockal
Borek Dockal | USA Today Sports Images
Oh boy, did Philadelphia Union fans seemingly cry out forever for a No. 10 to bridge their fine midfield and routinely starved attack. All those  prayers were finally answered with the loan move that brought crystalizing force Dockal to Philly.
Though it took the Czech playmaker several weeks to heat up, he eventually was dispensing fresh, tasty offerings like a Wawa. Dockal had but one assist through his first eight games, but now tops the league with 17. Thanks to his incisive link play and array of final balls, Philadelphia are back in the playoffs with a good shot at hosting their first postseason game since 2011.
No. 3: Carlos Vela
There’s no shortage of excellent pickups on the LAFC roster (see the honorable mentions above), and if we were counting head coaching hires in this list, Bob Bradley would rank near the top. Even so, Vela has truly been the straw that stirs the expansion darlings’ drink from day one.
The Mexico star has 13 goals to go with a dozen helpers, and stands near the top of the league in non-penalty goals + assists per 90 minutes, key passes, free kicks won, dribbles and shots on goal. Nearly every frightening LAFC rush goes through him, and enough of them also end with him that the new kids on the block have a great chance to end their first regular season with a Knockout Round bye.
No. 2: Wayne Rooney
Though “Señor Wayne” has only been in MLS for 17 games, the former England icon has completely changed both the look and the outlook for the Black-and-Red. Many doubted that Rooney could still star, but they’ve all been converted since mid-July, when D.C. United had 11 points from 14 games and appeared in need of a series of miracles to reach the postseason.
Rooney hasn’t walked on water just yet, but he does steal points late with an alarming frequency. The 32-year-old has done it all, dropping deep, leading the line and everything in between on the way to nine goals and seven assists. His presence has also unleashed the beast in Lucho Acosta, and the two have led the capital crew on a 10-4-3 surge that has them holding the East’s last playoff spot, four points ahead of the only foe that can still catch them.
No. 1: Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Who else could it be, right? The mighty Zlatan burst onto the MLS scene with a stunning derby double and has hardly slowed down since. The LA Galaxy superstar has had a historic debut season, chalking up 21 goals and nine assists to put the StubHub Center crew in position to pull off what rather recently looked to be an improbable rally for a playoff berth. Without him, they are nowhere near this station.
The striker’s goals-per-game rate is almost identical to that of record-breaker Josef Martinez, he’s hit for seven winners, buried all four of his penalty kicks and he’s one helper away from becoming the third 20-10 player in league history. And let’s face it: even if the Galaxy don’t manage to snare that playoff invite, Zlatan’s showmanship on the field, lion’s roar of a personality off of it and worldwide Q Rating has improved the league immeasurably.

Lauren Taslitz (book/lyrics) and Danny Ursetti (music) are pleased to announce that their new project REGRETTING ALMOST EVERYTHING (formerly titled THINGS WE THINK, BUT DON’T DARE SAY) will make its debut with a special two-night run as the final installment of this year’s “Artists on the Horizon” emerging musical theater artists series at Mr. Finn’s Cabaret at Barrington Stage Company, starring Broadway veterans Anne L. Nathan and Jeff Blumenkrantz.
REGRETTING ALMOST EVERYTHING premieres at 8pm Sunday August 6, 2017, with an encore performance at 8pm Monday August 7, 2017. All performances will be at Mr. Finn’s Cabaret, located on the lower level of the Sydelle and Lee Blatt PAC, 36 Linden Street, Pittsfield.
Jeffrey Blumenkrantz and Anne L. Nathan.
A mature love story, REGRETTING ALMOST EVERYTHING combines humor, honesty, and compassion to deliver a seldom-seen musical look at life from the perspective of late middle age.
“Most theatre tickets are purchased by older people like me,” states writer Taslitz, a recent graduate of Tisch’s MFA Musical Theatre Writing Program. “A long marriage and raising kids are very relatable experiences for many people, yet they’re rarely written about. But it’s perfect material for a musical. Those endeavors are both emotional and complex, and – with some perspective – highly entertaining.”
Adds Ursetti, “It’s every composer’s dream to have performers like Jeff and Anne sing their music. They’re smart, funny, and deeply truthful performers. It’s a joy to watch them bring our songs to life.”
William Finn, two-time Tony Award winner and Artistic Producer of the Musical Theatre Lab at Mr. Finn’s Cabaret says, “Lauren and Danny are a sensational team. They write songs that are outrageous, wise, and honest. What they’re coming up with is always interesting and often thrilling. You take two really talented people and ask them to write a piece specifically for the cabaret, and get two extraordinary actors like Jeff and Anne to sing it – anyone who cares about the future of musical theatre would be well advised to see this.”
REGRETTING ALMOST EVERYTHING stars Jeff Blumenkratz as Clay Cabbage and Anne L. Nathan as Anne Stein, with Musical Direction by Benji Goldsmith. The orchestra is Emily Chiu (violin, bells, guitar) and Jacob Fjeldheim (cello, keyboard), with student members of Barrington Stage Company’s Music Theatre Conservatory Ensemble serving as chorus.
