Sirius Black x Jas Daly: Happy memories
Title: Happy memories
Pairings: Sirius Black x OC Jas Daly (@devil-doll13's oc)
Summary: Sirius doesn't often talk about himself, or how hard life is for him, even outside of Azkaban. He has you, however. Or: Sirius takes you on an unconventional date.
Warnings: none. kissing. angst? comfort.

Sirius never discussed his past. After over a dozen years in Azkaban, and the world outside of it must feel so foreign to him. Yet there were many things that made you wonder, about the man he was, the man he used to be, about how he’d grown and changed. The muggle posters are still on the walls of his teenage room, and he only took them down after you joked about them. He was a Gryffindor; yet secretive in talking about his school days. After the dementors, maybe not much was left. You had no idea what it was like, except that it was bad. And how could you, if he avoided the topic?
Sirius never talked about his family. They spoke for themselves, through Kreacher and through the paintings that yelled slurs at you as you walked by. He told you to pay it no mind. When you offered to burn down the painting, as it was stuck on with magic that neither of you seemed to be able to remove, he laughed it off. You wondered when he’d feel ready to face that part of himself.
He dressed like his old self, however. In rich velvet jackets, red hinting to a leftover of house pride, with a picture of his old friend group tucked in the inside pocket. The beard he kept. Once a rebel, always a familial disgrace.
When you started coming over more frequently, the two of you cleaned the entire place one day, in the spring. He lifted you in the air, and you laughed as he hoisted you up so you could reach the high chandeliers in the hallway. The finishing touch was a vase of wildflowers that you picked on the school grounds, enchanted to last longer. His eyes were fond as he leaned against the doorframe, watching you work your magic, bringing colour back into his old home.
Every time he revealed something new about himself, felt like a flower opening up in the light of a new day. That day, it was his old motorcycle. It was much like Hagrid’s one; an experiment of magic and muggle technology and felt decidedly unsafe. It was against anyone’s advice to take the thing out for a drive, but that didn’t matter as no one would know. Sirius was good at secrets.
He held you close to his chest, his breath tickling the top of your head, one arm around your waist, as he guided the enchanted vehicle through the air. You hoped the cloaking charms were strong enough, but tonight was not for worrying. If there’s anything Sirius encouraged in you, it was to live in the moment and forget about all but him.
He took you to one of the highest roof tops of London, a bank, or flat, or some other place no soul would go. The stars were high and bright, even with the light pollution of the city. You couldn’t decide what you’d rather watch, the stars in the sky or the twinkling city bustling below you. Sirius had already decided, though, and didn’t take his eyes off you.
“Did we really come all this way just for you to stare at me?” you joked. He grinned and leaned back on his elbows. “You can do that at home.”
“I’m sure it must feel like you have a strange husk of a man as your lover,” he started, out of the blue, and stared at the sky to avoid your eyes. “Azkaban was… it took so much away from me. Not just the time… but the memories. Everyone from my past is either dead or all grown up, has a life without me. There are few good things of my life before it that I can recall. And now, there is you…”
You shifted closer to him, pressing your head against his shoulder. “I don’t expect you to tell me, especially not all at once.”
He looked at you, pressed a kiss to your temple, his beard tickled against your crown. He smelled nice, comforting like a family dog.
“The wind up here is real nice,” he said, the gratitude thick in his voice. “It’s so good to be free again.”
You’re stunned at his vulnerability. This may be the first time he’s ever acknowledged the impact his captivity had on him to you. He lays back on the concrete, pulling you with him, flush against his chest.
“We’ll just have to make new memories,” you say softly, curling into him. “Better ones, ones so good you forget about the bad.”
“Is that a promise?” The baritone of his voice made his chest vibrate and you lift your head to peck a kiss on his lips.
“Of course.”
“Then, let’s swear together.” He sat up suddenly, rousing you, and you shifted to sit in front of him, cross-legged. He held out his hand and you gripped it, thumbs pressing together. “I, Sirius Black, swear that I will take you, Jasmine Daly, on many great adventures, and during these adventures I will keep you safe, and make sure that we will go home to each other.”
“I, Jasmine Daly, love you, Sirius Black, and I will be by your side for as long as you want me. I will do everything I can to fill your life with happy memories. Together we will share a most wonderful life.”
He pulled you closer and kissed you desperately. “My woman, my beautiful woman, what did I do to deserve you? You’ve already given me so much good in this wretched life.”
You laugh as he peppered your face and neck in tickly kisses.
“What did I do to deserve you?” you retorted, pressing his face close and kissing him properly.
The stars were witness to a love greater than most, on that high London rooftop. Once you returned home, the portraits were asleep. No insults before bed tonight. You slept easy in his arms, the arms of the man who cherished you unlike any other, who brought laughter into your life like no one else could. Every small moments spent with him carried you on wings throughout the week to come.

Hi, it’s me, Fanfic Anon #2. I saw they were at Brégançon this weekend, which inspired this. Hope you all enjoy!
She smiled as she took in the gorgeous view of the sea from the open window, breeze faintly fluttering the curtains around her and providing the most pleasant chill as she took in the way the light danced on the water. Her smiled widened as she felt his arms wrap around her, pulling her into his chest fully, nestling his head on top of hers, surrounding her completely in him.
“Mmmhm, this is nice,” she hummed after a moment breaking the contented silence that had settled over them as they watched the waves.
“Mhmm, hmm,” he agreed pressing a kiss into her hair. After a few more minutes, he moved to whisper in her ear, “I have a surprise for you.”
“Do you?” She asked, eyes glittering with excitement as she quickly spun in his arms.
He laughed gently at her enthusiasm, her joy, the light in her eyes lightening his soul in a way that was nothing less than magical. “Yup, it’s on our bed.”
“You’re going to spoil me,” she shook her head dismissively, lowering her head a little as she blushed.
“Nothing is too good for my wife,” he scolded lightly, meaning every word and conveying it through the way he gently lifted her face back to his so he could look her in her too-blue eyes.
“Just this month alone - first a romantic escapade around London, then a romantic weekend home at Touquet, now this weekend here, just the two of us. a girl could get used to this, M. Macron,” she teased.
“I’m counting on it, Mme Macron,” he leaned in to kiss her meaningfully at that, conveying in the movement of his lips against her just how much he loves her. Pulling back with a smile, he instructed, “now go check out the surprise. I’ll be waiting for you by the pool -“
“But -“
“Just trust me,” he winked as he walked off, leaving her a little suspicious despite her excitement.
Determined, she made her way quickly to their bedroom, stopping when she found a large white garment box sitting at the end of the bed with a bright red ribbon tied around it. Slowly, she pulled on one of the loose ends, unraveling the bow and freeing the lid. Her mouth dropped when she removed the top of the box and saw the contents inside before she broke out into a deep red flush. ‘Oh.’ She thought as her brain started to kick back into gear.
He was beginning to get extremely excited as he waited to see her reaction. He knew what he had hoped for, but he also wasn’t going to push her out of her comfort zone. It’s been years since he’s seen her wear anything like this (and he knows why) but since it was just them this weekend, he really, really - his brain grinding to a halt when he saw her walking towards him.
“So, this look as good as you expected?” She teased coming to a stop just out of reach in front of him wearing his gift - a black string bikini that left very little to his imagination (not that he needed it - he knew every single bit of her better than he knew himself).
“Better,” he whispered when he regained the ability to speak. “Holy shit, Brigitte.”
She laughed at that, pleased, that even all these years later, even at her age, she still could provoke such a strong reaction out of him.
“Good God, you’re gorgeous,” he continued as he finally snapped back to reality enough to walk up to her, his hands now greedy to find a place on her warm, tanned, exposed skin.
“And you’re overdressed now, my handsome husband,” she replied, slipping her hands underneath his polo to encourage him to join her.
“Yes ma’am,” he nodded eagerly, happy to strip down until he was clothed appropriately.
“Better,” she praised, slipping her hands down his chest, pulling him to her to kiss him senseless.
Heloo fanfic Anon #2! ❤️
Emmanuel still checking off things out of his fantasies list haha how not to love it! He probably won’t allow that bikini to stay longer on her body but it’s the intention that counts 😛
Thank you so much, fanfic Anon #2! ❤️❤️❤️

You might feel as if you're constantly on the move but never reaching your destination or achieving your goals. This could be due to being struck by the heavy blow of negative energy. Such negative energies can manifest in various forms like the Evil Eye, black magic, or witchcraft, leading to bad luck.

Retrieving Memories
For By The Angel Bingo by @malecdiscordserver
Prompt: Black Friars Bridge
Pairing: Jem Carstairs/Tessa Gray
Word Count: 1,913
Summary: "Jem looked to his left and saw the spires of the London Institute in the distance, and he felt a wave of sadness come over him. Him and Tessa were visiting the London Institute to retrieve some belongings that had been put in storage when the Highsmiths took over, though it felt strange to Jem to be going to the place he once considered home as himself and not as a Silent Brother; the first time he’d been there since Will’s death."
Join Jem and Tessa as they go on the hunt for memories lost to time.
Read it on AO3
Tessa and Jem stepped out of the portal and onto the streets of London. The portal opened up beside the entrance to Blackfriars Bridge, crowds of mundane locals and tourists bustling about on the cool, cloudy autumn day. Jem didn’t know what Tessa’s magic glamoured them to look like, but the mundanes paid them no mind nonetheless.
“You’ve greatly improved your portal making, Tess,” Jem noted. Tessa then closed the portal behind them with sparks of gray magic, placing her hand protectively over the small baby bump that was starting to grow.
“I hope so. I’d like to think my lessons with Magnus haven’t been in vain,” she replied, smiling at him nervously.
Jem looked to his left and saw the spires of the London Institute in the distance, and he felt a wave of sadness come over him. Him and Tessa were visiting the London Institute to retrieve some belongings that had been put in storage when the Highsmiths took over, though it felt strange to Jem to be going to the place he once considered home as himself and not as a Silent Brother; the first time he’d been there since Will’s death. Will and Tessa’s children, dear James and Lucie, had called on him occasionally, but those times were few and far between. The Herondale’s may have lost contact with him, but Jem never forgot about them, just like he never forgot about Tessa.
A hand shaking his shoulder brought him out of his thoughts.
“James, are you alright?” Tessa asked, her face scrunched in concern.
“I’m fine,” he said, placing his hand on top of hers on his shoulder. “It’s just… it’s been quite a while since I’ve been in the Institute, and it’s bringing back a lot of memories.”
Jem heard Tessa sigh softly beside him, and she leaned her head against his arm. “I know what you mean, it’s bringing back memories for me, too,” she said, subconsciously rubbing her belly. This made Jem painfully aware that the last time Tessa had been pregnant was when she lived in the Institute.
“Well,” Tessa said, removing her head from his arm and taking his hand. “There's no time like the present, right?”
He tightened his hand around hers in response. “Right, let’s go on, then.” As the two of them walked the few minutes it took to get to the Institute, Jem took the opportunity to take in the sight of the city he loved. Of course he had been to London many times over the last century for his and Tessa’s annual meeting on Blackfriars Bridge, but it had truly been a long, long time since he’d explored the city with his own human eyes.
As they reached the Institute gates, it opened with ease, and they walked up the steps. Tessa pulled the rope to sound the summoning bell, and a chorus of bells rang through the Institute walls.
Tessa stared at the door awkwardly as minutes passed, and yet no one had answered the door. She looked over at Jem, who seemed just as confused as she was.
“They knew we were coming, right?” Tessa asked him.
Jem nodded quickly. “They should. I sent several fire messages to Jonathan Highsmith to confirm our arrival, who I’m assuming is Evelyn Highsmith’s grandson.” Tessa hesitated before ringing the summoning bell again.
A couple more moments passed before the door violently swung open to reveal a young man who was incredibly out of breath. He looked to be about twenty, his blond hair sticking up every which way. Tessa felt Jem’s hand tighten around hers. “Hello! You must be James Carstairs and Tessa Gray,” the boy said.
“That’s right,” Tessa responded cautiously. “And you are…?”
“I’m Jonathan Highsmith. Please come in, it looks like it could start raining any second,” he said, holding the door open wide. Tessa looked behind herself to see that the clouds had indeed gotten closer and darker. Her and Jem rushed inside, and Jonathan Highsmith shut the door behind them. “I apologize for the delay. My grandmother was, um… not exactly thrilled with the fact that you two were coming,’ Jonathan said with a regretful look on his face.
“She wasn’t?” Jem asked, his eyebrow raised. “But why not?”
“Well, to put it simply, she is NOT fond of Downworlders,” Jonathan said, staring pointedly at Tessa.
Tessa felt a shock go through her. “But, I helped run this Institute. Surely she knows the history of what me and William Herondale tried to accomplish here?”
Jonathan shrugged. “She’s very old and stuck in her ways, unfortunately.” Tessa was about to say something else, then Jem, thankfully, interjected.
“We won’t take up too much of your time,” said Jem, looking uncharacteristically irritated. “We’ve just come to take what we need, and then we’ll be on our way.”
“Of course. I’ll let you get to it, then,” said Jonathan respectfully before dashing off to another room.
Tessa felt Jem squeeze her hand comfortingly. “I’m so sorry, Tessa. I didn’t know the Highsmiths were like that.” She felt a wave of sadness come over her.
“It’s just… while so much of the ways of the Clave have changed in the last 135 years, there’s still so much that needs to be done.”
“I couldn’t have said it better, my love. You and Will did your best to teach your children to respect all Downworlders, but sadly not all Shadowhunters can be taught this.”
“I just wish it wasn’t like that. Anyway, we better get to it before he comes back. He could tell us that his Grandmother is making us leave early.”
Jem held on to Tessa’s hand tightly as they ascended the stairs up to the Institute’s attic. He hoped that everything up there was in good condition because it didn’t seem like Eveyln Highsmith liked the way the Institute was run in the past. He, as well as Tessa, would be heartbroken if any of their precious memories were ruined in any way. Tessa pushed the attic door open, and Jem couldn’t help the gasp he let out at how haphazardly the various boxes were organized.
“Jem,” said Tessa. “Where do we even start?”
“We should probably split up the work to save time,” Jem replied. He went to one corner while Tessa went to the other, and they began to unpack the boxes.
The majority of the boxes were unlabeled, which Jem found to be mildly annoying. The first three boxes contained nothing of interest; one contained some old weapons, and another two contained old children’s clothes that must have belonged to the Highsmiths. Jem then grabbed a fourth box that looked very old, and he could barely make out the faded letters that read the name “James.” He carefully opened the delicate box, and his eyes couldn’t believe what he was seeing: a box full of items he owned as a boy.
The first thing he pulled out was the sword cane he used for support. The bright green of the jade was very faded and the wood of the stick splintered, but it was still remembered exactly what it looked like on the day Henry gave it to him. He then pulled out the silver box depicting the goddess Kwan Yin that he used to hold his medicine, and his Guarneri violin. The last time he held his violin was on the day Will died, he never thought he’d see it again.
“Tessa,” Jem said, lightly tapping Tessa on the shoulder.
“Yes?”
“I-I recognize this handwriting. Did William do this?” He asked, gesturing towards the box.
Tessa turned around where she was sitting and examined the contents of the box fondly. “Oh, he must have. He was so careful with your things, and he always made sure they were in good condition.” She looked at the writing on the box sadly.
Jem took Tessa’s hand that wasn’t resting on the box, and kissed her knuckles. “Have you found anything of interest, love?”
“Not yet,” she said while opening a box. “I’m starting to think that-” Tessa let out a gasp and covered her mouth as she peered into the box.
Jem stood up to move closer to her. “What’s wrong, Tess,” he asked, placing his arm around her waist.
“Jem, look,” Tessa replied, opening the box all the way so he could see. Jem leaned in closer, and he felt his heart skip a beat. Inside the box was a framed photo of two boys no older than thirteen; those two boys, he realized, were himself and Will Herondale.
“By the Angel…” Jem said under his breath. He carefully pulled the photo out of the box to examine it closer. The two of them were standing close together, their arms almost touching. Will had the expression on his face that he always did when he was up to no good; it was an expression Jem had learned to know well. Though the photo was faded and grainy with age, Jem could tell that the Yin Fen had turned his hair almost completely silver, with only a few strands of black remaining. “I remember this day. I had just agreed to be Will’s parabatai. He was so excited, and he just begged Henry to take this photo, and-”
“Jem?” Tessa asked softly, cutting him off. She looked concerned. It wasn’t until she reached over to wipe a tear away from his face that he realized he was crying. He felt his chest fill up with emotion, and fat tears began to fall down his face. “Oh, Jem,” she said, pulling him close to her as her own tears fell. She held him tightly as he sobbed, kissed his face as the tears fell.
He was able to compose himself after a few moments, and they continued to look through the box. They found many photographs: photos of Will and Tessa on their wedding day, photos of their children James and Lucie, as well as photos of the Lightwoods.
“What will we do with all these photos, James?” Tessa asked.
“We’ll have to keep them in Los Angeles until we officially move into Cirenworth. As we wait for this little one,” Jem said, patting Tessa’s stomach gently.
“All this crying had made me exhausted! We should probably get going soon before it gets too late in LA.”
Jem laughed at that. “Anything for you, my love.”
Tessa held on to Jem’s arm as they walked down the Institute steps. It was hard seeing him so upset, but she understood why. It had to have been many, many years since he’s seen that photo, and the memories of his childhood in the Institute with Will had probably begun to fade. Despite this, Tessa was excited for their future at Cirenworth. Having all these old memories in the house would make it feel like a home for themselves and their child.
As they approached Blackfriars Bridge, Tessa, using the arm that was free from holding boxes, pulled Jem down for a kiss. It was a soft kiss that was brief, but promised more later. She opened a portal close to the entrance of the bridge, and took hold of Jem’s arm again.
“Are you ready to go?”
Jem nodded and said, “Let’s go. LA awaits us, and I think I’m beginning to lose feeling in this arm from holding these boxes.
Tessa laughed at that as they walked through the portal, and it closed behind them.

i had some fun with this one!!! thank you for sending in the prompt @sunshine-marauders <3
-------
“Lily, it’s okay, we’ll grab a room in a hotel, it’s not the end of the world.” James said as the two of them stood staring up at the boards in the centre of Euston station, tears in Lily’s eyes as she read the bright orange “CANCELLED” sign beside their train, the last train of the night that would get them home.
It had been a wonderful night of visiting the theatre with one of her best friends, getting lost in a musical for a few hours. The two of them had been singing songs from the show to each other on the tube on the way back to their station, not caring as they got weird stares from other passengers on the Northern line whilst they sang a beautiful rendition of All I Ask Of You. And sure, Lily had felt her heart beat a little faster when they reached the point of the song where Christine and Raoul kiss as she looked into James’ eyes, but that didn’t mean she liked him. It just meant that she understood the character, right?
But their sing-along had come at a price. They’d missed their stop. And the next after that. Then the next. It wasn’t until the last passenger left besides them on the train got off at Golders Green that they’d realised their mistake. And then they’d had to run and get the tube back to Euston, only to just miss one. A three minute wait later and they were finally heading back to Euston, getting off to discover that the last train to Northampton was cancelled. And they were stranded in London.
Lily was wiping furiously at her eyes. They’d stopped for a drink in a bar after the show, assuming that they’d have enough time. So the alcohol in her system heightened her emotions, resulting in the water works. James was scrolling through his phone, looking for the closest hotel.
“There’s a Travelodge or a Premier Inn, they’re fairly close. Everything else is ridiculously expensive.” James said, glancing up at her. “Which would you prefer?”
“Premier Inn, duh.” Lily said, pushing her hair out of her face. “Are you sure we can’t get a taxi?”
“From Euston to Leighton Buzzard?” James shook his head. “It’ll be cheaper to spend the night. Come on, it won’t be that bad. It’s just a short walk and then we can grab some breakfast in the morning before heading home.” He wrapped his arm around her shoulders. “What do you say?”
“Fine,” Lily shoved his side playfully, but leaned into his hold after. “But you’re buying breakfast, you’re the one who suggested drinks.”
“Deal.” James chuckled before ducking to kiss the top of her head. “Come on, let’s go. It’s late and we’re both shattered.”
And so they made their way out of the station, following Google Maps to the closest Premier Inn. It was dead quiet inside, just one sleepy receptionist behind the desk barely able to hold her head up.
“Hi, how can I help?” She asked in a monotone voice, having just blinked at the two of them a few times as if she was trying to figure out if they were real or just her imagination.
“Hey, we missed the last train home. Do you have any rooms for tonight?” James asked, running his hand through his hair. Lily watched his movements, eyes following the motion of his fingers brushing through the messy black curls. She wanted to do that, run her hands through his hair. Chill out, Lily. She mentally berated herself, barely hearing the conversation beside her as she tried to sort out whatever the hell was going on with her hormones at that moment.
“Lily?”
“What?”
“Are you good with sharing a bed? There’s only doubles left.”
Holy shit. The thought of sharing a bed with James both thrilled and terrified her. Would she be able to control herself around him? The not crush but definitely a crush that she’d been harbouring for him for the last few months might rear its ugly head and make her do something stupid. But then again, she really didn’t want to have to walk all the way to the Travelodge and have the exact same option, or no room at all.
So she nodded, blushing when James grinned and turned back to the receptionist, passing over his card. Lily tried to protest but he insisted that she could just send him half the money later to save time. Then before she knew it she was joining him in the lift, heading up to the fifth floor. Of course James had had the foresight to ask for some toothbrushes and toothpaste, Lily was far too occupied to even consider such a thing.
Lily decided that she was going to hum to herself the overture to Phantom of the Opera as they travelled up to their floor, her eyes fixed on the ceiling of the lift. And then James’ hand was in hers, pulling her out of the lift and down the corridors of the fifth floor until they came to a stop in front of their room. He swiped the key card and there they were, alone, in a room with one bed.
Her throat felt thick as Lily looked at the double bed, why did it look so tiny? She stood in the small space beside the open wardrobe and the bathroom while James flicked on the lights and moved further into the room, peeling off his jacket and kicking off his shoes as he went.
“Come on, Evans. It’s just a place to sleep.” He smiled at her as he said it, noticing her hesitance. Damn him for being so perceptive to her emotions all of the time. With a deep breath, Lily walked further into the room, setting her shoes beside his while her own jacket draped over the top of his on the chair.
“Here, toothbrush.” He said, passing her one of the two clear toothbrushes he had picked up. “I’ll let you use the bathroom first, gentleman as I am.”
“Oh, so kind.” Lily rolled her eyes while grinning at him, accepting the toothbrush gratefully. She shut herself up in the bathroom, immediately rushing to the sink to splash some water on her face. Why was she so warm? “Get it together, Evans.” She muttered to herself, glancing at her reflection. She sighed as she looked at her makeup, minimal as it was, she had nothing to remove it with. Which would almost certainly result in panda eyes in the morning, but what other choice did she have?
So she left her face alone and focused on brushing her teeth, being a little more thorough than she usually would so James wouldn’t have to wake up to horrific morning breath. God, James was going to see her first thing in the morning. Christ on a bike. She filled one of the small glasses by the sink with water to rinse out her mouth, then gulped another glass down.
James was sitting perched on the edge of the bed when she returned, his eyes meeting hers straight away. Damn, did this man ever stop smiling?
“All… All yours.” Lily said quietly, stepping out of the way as he moved to head into the bathroom.
“Thanks, Lil.”
The door locked behind him and she released a deep breath again, her fingers moving shakily to undo her jeans. She knew she wouldn’t be able to sleep in them, so wanted to get them off and climb under the covers before he could come back. He wouldn’t want to see her in her underwear.
Jeans folded, with her bra tucked safely beneath them, Lily climbed into the left side of the bed, hoping he didn’t mind that she preferred the left. She plugged her phone into the socket next to her bed, thanking her past self for packing her charger in her bag. And then she waited, sitting cross-legged beneath the duvet as she listened to the sounds of the tap running.
The bathroom door opened and Lily had to do her best not to gasp. He’d taken his shirt off. It wasn’t even like it was the first time she’d seen him shirtless either, but seeing him in a dimly lit bedroom right before he was about to be laying right next to her was something else.
“You don’t mind if I sleep in my boxers, do you?” He was asking, his eyes having taken note of her folded jeans.
Lily shook her head, doing her best to look him in the eyes rather than drool all over his bare chest like some hormonal teenage girl watching Magic Mike for the first time. But then he turned his back on her and was pushing his jeans over his hips and Lily couldn’t help but stare. It was actually so unfair how fit her best friend was now, she could still remember the scrawny little kid she used to swim in the local lake with.
Any shred of sanity Lily had left vanished when he turned to face her again, she could feel a wave of heat rushing all over her body. And he’d seen it happen, had seen her eyes darken and her gaze shift into something hungry.
But he ignored it, electing to just climb into bed beside her and turn out the light, facing away from her.
With a slight huff, Lily threw herself down against her pillow, gazing up at the dark ceiling. Her arms were folded over her chest, her legs still crossed like they had been when she’d been sitting. While annoyed that he’d not responded to her sex eyes, she also just felt embarrassed. Because she’d totally just objectified him, looked at her best friend in the whole world like he was a tree for her to climb and use. And she hated herself for it.
“I can hear you thinking, Evans.” James whispered through the darkness, his back still facing hers. “Relax.”
And she did, her hands slid to rest on her stomach, her legs unfolded and moved to rest against the mattress. Her eyes closed and she let out a small sigh. And then he had to go and roll over, his breath on her neck.
While she knew she should just ignore it, squint her eyes and try to sleep, Lily couldn’t help but turn her head on her pillow, her eyes opening once more. And there he was, looking at her. No glasses, his hair already made even messier than usual from the pillow. He just looked so soft.
Usually James was all sharp edges and angular, charisma dripping from every inch of his body. He was sarcastic and energetic and never ever seemed to get tired. But there, laying in bed beside him, he seemed so calm, so at peace. His sharp edges had blurred, softened by the look in his eyes as he gazed at Lily. And that was what he was doing, gazing.
It didn’t take her much to lean in, just one look from him was enough. Her body turned on the mattress as she shifted to reach his lips, her own brushing his softly. And then she moved to pull away, to see his reaction when he moved, his hand sliding to the back of her neck to drag her closer. His lips covered hers and by god, did it feel right. Lily’s hand came to rest on his chest as she kissed him eagerly, their mouths pressing together in a perfect dance, nothing too eager or too slow.
“I’ve been wanting to do that for months.” Lily whispered when they broke apart, her eyes still closed.
“I’ve been wanting to do that for years.”
She looked at him then. There was no trace of a lie in his eyes. She believed him, because of course she did. James never lied to her.
And then she tackled him against the bed and thanked the London Northwestern Railway gods for cancelling the last train home.
