Genre — Chapter four: Part One
Artists — Tonowari x fem!avatar!reader
Lyrics — You’re finally adjusting to your new life among the Metkayina and your relationship with Tonowari is progressing into something more. While Tonowari is out in the village, fulfilling his Olo’eyktan duties, he hears some of his warriors talking about you when the topic of mating season comes up, which catches his attention.
Music Advisory — Pre-Atwow, implied timeskip, fluff, comfort, implied courting/courtship, act of courting [acts of service], kissing, mentions of Tonowari’s past relationship, emotional moment, Olo’eyktan!Tonowari, jealous!Tonowari, mention of mating season, secret relationship trope, featuring Ralak [Tonowari’s right hand man/best friend]
Notes — Reader and Tonowari’s relationship is slightly sped up [between chapter three and four] due to the length of series and that I believe the Na’vi (especially a traditional man like Tonowari) wouldn’t take longer than a few months before starting the courting process.
Duration — 5.2k
Index — Kaltxì - Hello・Syulang - Flower

After months of living in Awa’atlu you’ve finally found your place in the clan, becoming a healer. When you lived in the forest you were a healer, working under Mo’at and learning all her ways and techniques. It’s a position you excel in and you were tired of doing odd tasks around the island so you spoke to the head healer and showed her your skills and after that she was happy to allow you a place in the healing pod.
You’ve learned to navigate the island’s resources, gathering medicinal herbs and understanding the local flora. Some flora is similar to what was back in the forest while other plants were completely different which sparked your interest. The knowledge you gained from Mo’at feels even more valuable here, as you adapt her teachings to the unique plants of Awa’atlu. You can now identify the subtle differences in the herbs and their uses, finding satisfaction in the skills you’ve obtained.
Your relationships with the villagers have grown since you first arrived, the initial curiosity that surrounded your arrival has shifted into friendship, with most members of the clan seeking your advice and sharing their stories. Even though it took a while for most of the clan to come around, Padma, who is now your best friend, is one person you’ve always been able to lean on. The kindness she showed you from the very beginning has helped you feel at home in Awa’atlu and it also helped show the clan that you were a good person and that they could trust you.
In addition to Padma, you’ve also grown close to other women in the clan. They’ve welcomed you into their circles. The camaraderie you share during communal activities, whether it’s preparing meals or participating in rituals, it has created a sense of sisterhood, something you’ve always wished for. Through all these connections, you find strength and support, enriching your experience in Awa’atlu.
While you’re sitting in your mauri, allowing the sun to shine its light into your home as you get ready for the day and start your duties, you can hear a familiar set of footsteps come through the entryway, causing a blush to creep onto your face. “Kaltxì, syulang.” The nickname ‘Flower’ was bestowed upon you a little after your relationship with the Olo’eyktan started to blossom. He thought it was perfect for you after he took you on a walk in the jungle and you couldn’t help but stop at almost every flora to take a whiff of its natural scent and focus on the beauty it held.
Tonowari's voice makes his presence known and soon after you hear a loud thud, making you slightly jump at the unexpected sound. When you turn around to see where the sound came from you see him standing next to a net full of descaled and fileted fish with a smile on his face, making a grin tug at your lips from yet another one of his gifts. You can always see the effort he puts into delivering these packages, whether it’s fish or some sort of meat from an animal that roams in the jungle he always makes sure it’s cleaned, skinned, and cut so all you have to worry about is taking them out of their leaf wrappings and cooking them anyway you see fit. “Another? I thought I told you I could hunt for myself. You don’t have to keep bringing me food.”
“Yes, you did tell me but why would I allow you to when you have a man that is fully capable of taking care of that for you.” Tonowari walks up to you, still wearing his bright smile while his hands rest on your hips once he’s in front of you, making the blush that’s rising on your cheeks even more apparent. “Plus, when I bring them to you it allows me to see the most beautiful woman in the village before I start my morning rounds.”
Tonowari knows exactly the words to use to make you feel swoon, his compliments always make your smile widen, making you feel like the luckiest woman on the planet to have such a loving and kind man. “Mmm, well who am I to deny you from that?” There’s an undertone of playfulness and affection in your tone while you speak and wrap your arms around Tonowari’s neck, allowing you the perfect opportunity to press your lips upon his. The Metkayina wasn’t expecting a kiss but he definitely isn’t mad at it. It's clear that his thoughtfulness and the fact he can provide is noticed by you and he can’t help but feel a sense of pride.
As you pull away from after the kiss, a playful glint shines in Tonowari’s eyes, and the world around you feels a little brighter. The connection you two share has grown effortlessly since the moment you shared on the beach. Since then you both have been spending more time together, going on dates, exchanging gifts, and learning more about each other in deeper ways. Since deciding to explore the potential of your relationship, both of you have prioritized open communication about your feelings. You both wanted to ensure that you were on the same page regarding how things were progressing and to avoid any sense of rushing into the next phase. After a few months, it became clear that you and Tonowari were on the brink of something deeper—courtship.
When the topic came up it felt natural and exciting but you were also nervous. The scars from your past marriage were still fresh and you didn’t want to deal with the same hurt and mistreatment again but you know that Tonowari aren’t your ex-mates, you know that he is so much different than them so it didn’t take too much thought before you agreed with Tonowari that courting was the right choice for your relationship.
“Alright, my mighty hunter.” You say with a teasing lilt, stepping a little bit closer to him while moving one of your hands and placing it on his shoulder. “How about I finish getting ready while you get the fish out of the walkway and into the cooking area? I don’t want to trip over them.”
Tonowari lets out a soft laugh, a hint of sheepishness in his expression as he glances down at the nets of fish he’d dropped right in front of the entryway instead of somewhere out of the way. “I suppose I was too focused on you to think about where I was putting them.” He admits, shaking his head slightly.
With a nod of determination Tonowari separates from you and allows you to finish your routine as he begins to move the fish. You can’t help but admire the sight of him lifting the heavy net, watching the muscles in his arms and back flex as he picks it up and walk it over to another area of the mauri. His strength and charm makes your heart flutter and makes you appreciate that you can have these small moments with him.
As Tonowari bends down to lower the fish in the area you want them to be in, your eyes catch a glimpse of something on his back. A thin dark line carved into his skin, a wound that looks fresh, meaning it could be causing him pain. “‘Wari,” you walk up to him and get a closer look, your voice laced with worry while you inspect the wound, gently running your finger over it. “What happened to your back?”
“Oh, it’s nothing.” He replies dismissively while he stands straight up and shifts his weight in the process, meaning it’s not ‘nothing’ like he claims it to be.
“It’s definitely something, Tonowari.” Your healer instincts kick in and you walk over to your herbs and grab a salve and a liquid that will act as a disinfectant so the wound doesn’t become infected. “I can tell you're in pain, you must let me take a look at it.” At first, Tonowari wants to tell you that it’s fine and he’ll just patch it up later but he allows you to take a look, knowing you’ll take better care of it than he will. You bring over a wooden stool for him to sit on and you start working on him, cleaning off the droplets of dried blood before pouring a few drops of disinfectant. “How did you get this?”
“Accident from hunting,” He explains, trying to brush it off since it isn’t a big deal to him. “I was more focused on the catch than what was around me.”
A frown casts upon your face at how Tonowari just ignores his wounds and swallows the pain. “Well, you need to be more careful. You shouldn’t ignore wounds, even if they are small.”
Tonowari's expression relaxes as he feels your fingers across his back, a hint of admiration comes across his face, feeling grateful that he has someone in life that takes care of him again. "You always worry too much about me."
"It's my job," you reply playfully, but your tone is serious. "And I care about you."
“I know you do,” The Olo’eyktan murmurs, his gaze softening as he glances back at you, his usual stoic demeanor giving way to something more vulnerable. As you tend to his wound, Tonowari’s mind begins to drift, memories of Ronal slipping through his thoughts like the gentle pull of the tide. She’d always been the one to patch him up after his hunting or sparring accidents, her hands steady and sure, her voice lightly scolding him for being reckless. She’d always tell him that his strength didn’t mean he could ignore his injuries, and despite his grumbling, he’d let her care for him, feeling both humbled and cherished in those moments.
Now, as he feels the same careful touch in your hands and hears the same gentle concern in your voice, a pang of bittersweet longing stirs within him. It’s different with you, of course, but he realizes he’s missed this feeling of being looked after, having someone who sees past his strength to the person beneath. In some quiet, comforting way, your presence eases a part of him he thought he’d long buried, reminding him of the warmth he once felt with his widow.
As you finish dressing Tonowari’s wound, you notice that his gaze has drifted somewhere distant, a shadow passing over his usually calm expression. His expression is filled with something you can’t quite name—grief, maybe, or longing, like he’s carrying a memory too heavy to put into words. “‘Wari,” you say softly, catching his attention. “Is something on your mind?” You keep your hand on his shoulder, hoping to offer whatever comfort you can.
Tonowari hesitates, looking at you with an intensity that suggests he’s debating whether to answer. You and him haven’t talked much about your past marriages. Both of you are still hesitant to discuss those parts of your lives, and neither of you want to push the other to share before they’re ready. You both agreed early on to open up when the time feels right. Tonowari has only shared little details here and there about Ronal, he mentions her from time to time but it's usually quick and he breezes over it, not wanting to stay on the topic for too long or his emotions will get the best of him. He’s thought about having a full discussion about her with you before but he always chickens out, not wanting to be vulnerable in front of you but he also doesn't want to continue keeping you in the dark about his feelings.
After a long moment, he sighs, glancing away as though the words are easier to say to the air than to you. “My mate,” he says finally, his voice rougher than usual. “Ronal.” He looks down, his jaw tight, trying to hold himself together to tell you the story as emotions resurface in his heart. “She was… everything to me. Strong, kind, stubborn as the sea,” he continues, a small bittersweet smile tugging at his lips, memories of her reeling in his mind from the years they shared as a mated pair. “She always looked after me, kept me in line when I needed it.”
There’s a quiet, aching pause as he gathers himself, his gaze fixed somewhere in the distance, trying to collect his words and make sure he correctly phrases them based on how he feels in his heart. “She passed when an illness casted over the clan,” he says, his voice full of sorrow when he thinks about how the illness took over her body in a matter of days and soon after he could barely recognize the woman he fell in love with. “She went to help those who were sick, as she always did. She believed it was her duty as Tsahìk to protect others, even when it meant… risking herself in the process.”
You feel a pang in your chest as you watch him speak, seeing the grief he’s been carrying around all this time, a grief that’s only now finding voice. “After she was gone… I didn’t think I’d let anyone take care of me like that again,” he admits, his voice soft, almost hesitant. “I told myself I didn’t need it. But being here with you now, it… reminds me of her.” It was true, even though you and Ronal are different in many ways there are a few similarities he sees in the both of you. The way you care for others, how fiercely you protect those you love, sometimes when he looks at you he feels like he’s seeing pieces of Ronal again.
Your heart aches for him, you know how hard it was for him to share and you’re so glad that he felt brave enough to say how he feels. To show that you're here with him in the moment and are listening, you glide your hand down his arm until you reach his hand. When he feels your hand wrap around his he glances at you and you notice his expression softening from the painful one he once had. Tonowari’s grip tightens around your hand, a silent appreciation of your presence and support.
You take a moment, letting the weight of his confession settle between you before taking a deep breath and speaking, wanting to make sure you say the right things to him, wanting to give him the comfort he needs. “Tonowari,” you say gently, “I’m so glad you had Ronal as a mate, if you hadn’t had all those wonderful years with her you wouldn’t be the amazing man you are today or have your two beautiful children. She took care of you for as long as Eywa allowed and now she watches over you.”
Tonowari’s eyes glisten with unshed tears, and he nods slowly, absorbing your words. “You’re right,” he admits, a soft smile breaking through his sorrow. “Ronal taught me about love, strength and sacrifice.”
“And you carry everything you learned from her with you. You’re not alone on this journey of life, Tonowari. I’m here for you. I want to be that person that cares for you now, the one who always tends to your wounds and keeps you in line if you need it.”
Tonowari’s gaze deepens, reflecting a number of emotions—grief, gratitude, and an unmistakable warmth that radiates from the bond you share. Your words wrap around him like a gentle embrace, showing him that he can be in the present while honoring his past. “I didn’t know how much I needed to hear that,” he admits, his voice steadying, though it remains with hints of emotion.
You squeeze his hand tighter, feeling the strength of his grip and the connection that sparks between you. “It’s the truth,” you reply, your heart swelling with love for this man who has faced so much yet he continues to stand tall. “You’re a great father and a leader, and the love you shared with Ronal doesn’t diminish what we can build together.” You know that Ronal will always be a part of him, she’s the mother of his children and his first true love. Ronal will always be in his heart and you’re completely fine with that but you also want him to know that there is enough room for the love you both now share to grow as well.
A soft smile crosses his lips, the heaviness in his eyes lifting ever so slightly. “And I’m grateful for that, for everything.” He pauses for a moment, his earlier playfulness returning to his demeanor. “Besides, I’d be lost without you keeping me out of trouble.”
“Yes, you definitely need me to keep a close eye on you,” you tease, relief flooding through you as the mood lightens, meaning Tonowari is feeling better than he did a few minutes ago. “Just don’t expect me to let you get away with anything.”
Tonowari chuckles, the sound music to your ears. “I wouldn’t dream of it.” He leans in, pressing a gentle kiss to your forehead, causing you to melt in the process. “Thank you for being my light. I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
“Of course! Just keep bringing me gifts, and we’ll be just fine,” you tease once again, a playful grin stretching across your face as you look up at him. The warmth of the moment fills the small space of your mauri. You rise from your stool and begin to organize the salve and healing items, your fingers dancing over the familiar textures of the herbs and containers.
As you tidy up, sunlight shines brightly through the woven walls, casting a golden glow that warms up the air and takes away the coldness from the early morning breeze. The air is rich with the invigorating scent of fresh herbs, mingling with the distant sounds of Awa’atlu coming to life—laughter and chatter drifting in from outside, a gentle reminder of the community that surrounds you.
“You truly have a gift for healing, both the body and spirit.” Tonowari says in a low tone as he fills the space behind you, his presence a comforting weight as he rests his head in the crook of your neck, along with his warm breath sending a delightful shiver down your spine and his hands wrapping around your waist.
“Well, it’s easy when I have someone worth caring for.” you reply, raising your hand and placing it on his cheek, gently rubbing your thumb against his skin while your smile softens at the sincerity of your own words.
“And you make it impossible for me to focus on my duties. I could stay here with you all day,” he admits, using a playful yet serious tone as he starts to trail soft kisses across your neck, making your stomach flip.
“As tempting as that sounds, I think the clan might have something to say about it.” Thinking of the clan brings a familiar sense of responsibility, reminding you both of the lives that rely on your work. If you both disappeared for the day, when you’re both known to be dedicated to your duties, it would certainly raise suspicions.
Truthfully, the idea of spending the day in the quiet of your home with him is hard to resist, especially with the way his lips are brushing against your neck, causing your body to tingle all over. But you know, despite the attraction of staying close to him, that your duties come first, especially his come first. With a soft sigh, you gently pull away from and turn so you can look into his eyes, giving him a lingering look that speaks of how much you’d rather stay wrapped in his arms.
He chuckles, nodding with a sense of understanding, though his gaze still lingers on you with a quiet intensity. “You’re right, as usual,” he says, his tone resigned yet affectionate. “They need us, and I need to get started on my rounds.” Leaning in, he brushes a gentle kiss against your lips, his touch lingering, wanting one last kiss before you have to part ways. “Promise me you’ll take care of yourself.”
“I will,” you assure him firmly, your voice resolute. “And you better do the same. I won’t be patching you up twice in one day.” The banter is light, but beneath it lies a genuine concern for his well-being. You and Tonowari walk out of your home at the same time and you both hold hands for as long as possible before you have to take different paths. You and him exchange loving gazes one more time before the two of you start to split off to different places on the island.
As you start walking towards the heart of the village and making your way to the healing pod, the vibrant colors of the village greet you, alive with the sounds of laughter and the salty breeze of the sea. The sun rises higher, illuminating the faces of your neighbors as they go about their morning tasks, a scene of harmony that fills you with purpose.
The early afternoon sun cast long shadows over the village as the Olo’eyktan gathered his warriors for a meeting. Tonowari finished his rounds a while ago, assessing the well-being of his people, making sure the hunters were collecting enough food to feed the clan, that the healers had sufficient supplies, and making sure that the warriors-in-training are up to par. Every so often Tonowari calls a meeting with all his warriors to discuss whatever he deems necessary for them to have knowledge of so currently he’s standing in front of a group of seasoned warriors with a steady and focused expression on his face. The warriors listen intently as he speaks, discussing plans for the coming weeks, the new resources they’ve gathered, and trade strategies with neighboring clans and how they’ll be conducted.
Once the meeting is concluded, the warriors begin to relax, their expressions easing as they fall into conversation. Mating season is approaching for the Metkayina, and the topic quickly shifts to the thrill of potential partners and possible courtships.
One of the younger warriors, a grinning Na’vi with bright eyes, leans in toward the group. “So, do any of you have someone in mind? I hear a few of the women in the northern pods are particularly interested this year.”
Another warrior laughs, elbowing his friend. “The northern pods? Well, I have my eye on someone a little closer.”
The group chuckles, sharing knowing looks and nudges. A third warrior, braver and bolder than his peers, leans back against a nearby tree and crosses his arms with a smirk. “Well, if we’re speaking of those who’ve been catching our eyes, I’d say that the newcomer is quite… intriguing.”
Tonowari’s ears perked up at that, his expression carefully neutral as he listened in on what his subordinates were saying. He feels a tightening in his chest as they continue their conversation and he can’t stop the slight clench of his jaw. He knows exactly who they mean when they say ‘newcomer’ and it’s stirring up a nasty emotion inside the Olo’eyktan at the mention of you.
The warriors exchange looks, some nodding their heads in agreement. “Ah, yes,” one said with a grin. “She has a spirit about her. There’s something different. And she’s been here long enough now, I’d say she’s part of the clan.”
Another warrior chimes in, his tone lighthearted but admiring. “She’s smart, too. Not to mention skilled in healing. I think any one of us would be lucky to court her.”
Tonowari’s fists tighten behind his back, his fingertips pressing into his palms as he fights the urge to respond. The mask of calm he wears, cultivated through years of leadership, is beginning to slip, and his tail flicks in irritation despite his best efforts to remain composed. His ears, trained on the voices of his warriors, catch every casual, careless words they speak about you—the admiration in their voices, the hints of desire, the presumptuous confidence they hold in their tone when they discuss you as if you’re an unclaimed woman waiting to be courted.
Each remark feels like a tiny ember dropped into his chest, sparking a jealousy he’s struggling to contain. He reminds himself of the choice you both made to keep your bond private, to protect the quiet intimacy of what you share, away from the curious eyes of the clan. And yet, in this moment, he feels the weight of that choice bearing down on him. These warriors—his own warriors, those who have fought by his side—speak of you like a prize to be won, an object of competition.
The restraint he shows is as much for himself as it is for them, for he knows that one slip in his expression, one moment of sharpness in his voice, would reveal more than he’s currently prepared to share. But with every laugh, every nudge, and every insinuation, the irritation coils tighter within him, a reminder of how fiercely he feels for you.
A laugh echoes from the group, and one of the warriors, with a mischievous smirk, declares his intent to “try his luck” with you, claiming you might need “someone strong to keep you grounded.” The remark brings a sharp, almost feral look to Tonowari’s eyes, a dangerous edge beneath his calm. He reminds himself—again—that they don’t know, that their casual interest is not meant as an offense. But his jaw clenches, and his heart beats faster, wrestling with the possessive surge that threatens to overtake him.
While the Olo’eyktan is having an emotional debate within himself, Ralak, looks across the circle of warriors, reading the slight tension in his leader’s stance. With a small, knowing smile, Ralak excuses himself from the conversation and walks over to Tonowari.
“Walk with me, Olo’eyktan.” Ralak says, his voice calm but with a hint of humor in his gaze. Tonowari gives him a nod, eager for the chance to leave the warriors’ chatter behind before he blows a fuse. They move a few paces away, leaving the others deep in their discussions about their pursuit for future mates. Once they’re out of earshot, Ralak chuckles softly. “You know, it’s quite amusing to see you like this, Tonowari. You, of all people, should be used to admiration. But hearing it directed at her—now that’s something new.”
Tonowari exhales, the tension easing slightly at Ralak’s teasing tone but not leaving completely. “They speak as if she’s theirs to court,” he mutters, his voice barely concealing his frustration. “As if they have any idea who she is.”
Ralak chuckles, crossing his arms as he leans against a nearby tree. “Of course they don’t know. You’ve kept things quiet. They see her as a woman who’s simply here, one who’s… available. And, well,” he smirks, “you cannot blame them for noticing. She’s a rare presence.” The Metkayina have always been curious of what Na’vi from different parts of Pandora look like so now that they’ve laid eyes on you a new curiosity has grown, what it’s like to be with a woman that's the opposite of them.
Tonowari sighs, a mixture of pride and frustration filling his chest as he knows that men in the clan want you yet you only have eyes for him. “I know that. But to hear them talk so casually, as if they could just… approach her, as if she would give them a second glance…” He shakes his head, fighting the urge to march back and make it clear that you shouldn’t be discussed this way.
“And yet, you’ve kept her hidden. Why?”
Tonowari hesitates, glancing toward the village beyond where he’s spent countless evenings with you. “She and I… we wanted something just for ourselves. Something apart from the clan’s expectations, the constant eyes on us. She wanted time to settle in, to find her place here, without everyone immediately knowing.”
Ralak nods, his expression softening as he begins to understand his reasoning for keeping your relationship under wraps. “Then don’t let their words get under your skin. They speak in ignorance, not knowing what you and her share.” He places a firm hand on Tonowari’s shoulder. “But… I would suggest you think about telling them soon. With mating season approaching, the interest in her will only grow.”
Tonowari grimaces, knowing his friend was right. His warriors are respectful, but also persistent when it comes to finding their potential mate. The last thing he wants is for you to be put in a situation where you feel uncomfortable, or worse, pressured by their advances.
Ralak raises an eyebrow, seeing that the Olo’eyktan is still facing an internal battle with his feelings and thoughts so he decides to give him a few more pieces of sound advice. “Or maybe, you should remind her just how deeply you feel. Make sure she knows she doesn’t need to keep your bond a secret if it causes you both trouble.”
A small smile breaks through Tonowari’s tense expression, a hint of amusement in his eyes. “She knows,” he says softly. “But I’ll admit, it’s hard to hide it when I feel this strongly.”
“Then perhaps a little less hiding wouldn’t hurt. You are the Olo’eyktan, after all. You have every right to make your intentions known.”
Tonowari nods, his resolve strengthening. The quiet, private moments with you are cherished by him when he wants to escape from the demands of his role, but he can’t deny the desire to stand by you openly, to show everyone that you are his.
Tonowari takes a steadying breath, the weight of his friend’s words settling into his mind. He knows now that if he doesn’t make his intentions clear, others will continue to see you as someone they could pursue and that is something he can no longer allow. “Thank you, Ralak,” he says, giving his friend a firm nod. “I’ll speak with her.”
Ralak nods with a smile, satisfied with Tonowari’s decision and glad to see him happy. “Good. She deserves to be seen as the one you’ve chosen, not just another face in the clan.”
As the two men part, Tonowari feels a new sense of purpose filling him. His jealousy sparked something that needs addressing, but more than that, it reminds him of how fully his heart has opened up for you. And if claiming you publicly means drawing a few surprised looks, he’ll gladly accept that challenge.

You weren't always horrid.
Believe it or not, there was a time you walked around sporting the skin of a much more idealistic, people-oriented person. Strangers saw you as a friendly face, acquaintances thought you were amiable, and close companions knew you as an honest, real friend. Things were good. You had it all going for you.
Until you got fed up.
At least, that was the general word around Awa'atlu.
All that was known was that something in your demeanor had shifted shortly after your appointment as the clan's tsakarem. But only you could know the truth behind this sudden personality transplant. And why, one day, you vowed that people simply sucked and you were the only person who could truly understand yourself, shedding the flesh of amiability to become a jaded creature.
Otherwise known as a heinous bitch, as Ao'nung so delicately put it at the breakfast table.
"You're funny," you laughed before pinching his ear, "Go on, say it again-"
"Sa'nu, she's doing it again!"
"Unhand your brother at once," your mother requested without conviction.
Ronal sighed with a squeeze of her temple, "It is too early in the day for all this foolishness."
Tsireya tilted her head, reason glinting in her eyes. Be nice, you know it is a trying time for mother.
In all honesty, she, too, was aware of your brother's susceptibility to merit a justified ass-kicking. Not that you were any better with your acerbic tendencies.
You raised a brow innocently. I am nice… on occasion.
You let go of Ao'nung's purpled ear. He cradled it, bitterly sticking his tongue out at you.
"Charming, little brother, charming."
"I am surprised you even know what charm is, being our village beast and all."
You raised a blunt knife at him, stabbing your cooked fish with the pointy end as you mercilessly de-boned the already dead animal, head to tail. This only served to prove his point.
"You're lucky we share blood or I would have finished the job your umbilical cord failed to do."
"Guys!" Tsireya piped.
Contrary to what you had said, you thought Ao'nung was a cute baby when you saw him fresh as morning dew from your mother's womb for the first time. Babbling was adorable on him as an infant. As a teenage boy, not so much. Regardless, you would kill for that boy.
"Children, I wish to speak with your sister," Ronal professed, shooing your siblings out of the room.
Ao'nung took the liberty to 'ooh' exaggeratedly. You threw your leftovers at him as he ducked out the marui after your sister. Skxawng.
"Are you quite finished?"
You smiled modestly. "Sorry, mother, what was it you wished to discuss?"
Ronal watched as you shoved fillet into your mouth between words.
"As you know, our clan encountered a threat never before seen this past year."
"We Metkayina are pacifists. That was our first brush with war. War with the sky people, no less." She strutted imposingly around you, "As the voice of Eywa in these matters, your father and I intend for it to be the last."
"Of course, with the presence of the newcomers, one cannot be sure. As tsahik, and your father, as olo'eyktan, we believe…"
Dear Eywa, no good ever came about whenever your mother threw around titles in a conversation.
"…that brokering alliances within the clans of the ocean is paramount in securing our safety."
You picked at the skin around your right thumb.
"We have arranged for you to meet with the eligible son of our neighboring reef clan's olo'eykte-"
You peeled it frenetically.
"-to consider as a mate."
It tore, bleeding.
No, no, no...
"No!"
"No?" Ronal echoed, eyes reduced to poisonous slits.
"Tìmuntxa! Sa'nok, really?!" you bounced up.
"Your father and I…"
"Sempul!" you scoffed, pacing, "Oh please, this has you written all over it, mother."
"Selfish child!" She sneered, "You would do well to pay heed for this is larger than you are."
You couldn't bring yourself to look at her.
"Ma'ite, we care for your happiness, we do."
Your eyes, stinging with the saltiness of incoming tears, noted that there was a hole in the weaved wall of your marui. Somebody should fix that.
"But we cannot sit around wishing for peace."
Ronal touched your shoulder gently, much composed now, "Now, you must listen and do your part."
You must listen and do your part.
Tough love, much?
Of course, nothing was kept from your siblings for long. Tsireya pestered you about it, glued to your side like a barnacle during tsahik lessons.
"So, tìmuntxa, huh?" Tsireya bounced her knee, engraving a footprint in the sand as you grinded herbs absentmindedly.
"Yes…tìmuntxa."
"I do not know what to say except, maybe, and that is quite a maybe…"
"Maybe?" you asked.
"It won't be as bad as you make it."
"Me and marriage?" You chortled. "No chance."
Tsireya managed a smile.
"Why do you say so, tsmuke?"
"Have you seen the prospects around here? All unwashed cretins." You deadpanned, wiping sweat off your brow. Less a question, more a general statement.
"I would sooner take my chances with a pxazang."
"Oh, but the poor creature," your sister lamented.
"I know," you smirked, "It hardly seems fair."
Tsireya toyed with a tendril of her curly hair.
"Lo'ak washes," she blurts, "I think."
You gasped, scandalized, throwing a used cloth her way. Tsireya was quick to catch it, her fit of giggles growing into full-fledged laughter that you couldn't help but be infected by.
"I really do not know what you see in that boy, 'Reya."
"That is because you don't see him."
You were taken a bit aback. Tsireya wouldn't make a statement like that from nowhere. And she nods, so genuine and so sure of herself but you doubt. Because that was your job. This is your sister. Your sister who wept for the first fish Ao'nung caught when you were but little children.
"'tsmuke'tsyip," you tutted, "Boys are good fun, they are. But you'll have plenty of time for that when you grow into your own."
Tsireya's ears drooped, feeling sorely misunderstood. "It is not fair-"
"What is not fair?"
The two of you perked up at the sound of the imperial tone that unmistakably belonged to one person.
"We see you, sempul," you chorused.
"Girls," Tonowari eyed you, "I did not recall gossip being a crucial part of your training."
"Of course not-" "Father, we weren't-"
"Great mother, it is not about boys, is it?" Your father crossed his arms accusingly.
You and Tsireya shared a look, confirming his thoughts.
He clicked his tongue disapprovingly, "I gather it is about that Sully boy?"
Oh, shit, who were you kidding, this man was a walking lie detector.
"If you must know, yes, it was," you spoke up, "Tsireya?"
She grinned nervously at you, sirens flashing in her eyes. What are you doing, he isn't supposed to know, you promised, what ever happened to girl code-
Tsireya held out her hands placatingly, "Please, father, it is not like that at all-"
"What is it like, my child? Eywa forbid, does he intend to court you?" He placed a hand over his mouth as if a most unfathomable thing crossed his mind, "Need I remind you, until you are old enough, we have only a few rules."
Here you go again. This spiel was older than Pandora herself.
"One, no boys," he affirmed. "Two, no courtship."
"-with boys."
"Father!" Tsireya rebutted, hearts in her irises, "Is it not enough that Lo'ak is Toruk Makto's son and a true member of this clan? Has he not proven himself? He is wonderful and- and I like him."
Tonowari broke out into a hearty laugh. Impossibly fast, his smile drops as quickly as he puts it on. You can't shake off the shiver that passes through the both of you.
"No. Or better yet, no courtship for you until your sister enters one."
"Mm, and I intend never to do so," you reinforced, earning a pat on the back from your old man.
Tsireya huffed silently as she trudged away.
You faced your father with a sweet, spoiled smile. "Does this mean I still have to meet with the olo'eykte's son?"
"Ah," Tonowari scratched his head, "Yes, you must."
He never could say no to his mate. It was as if she always held a knife to his jugular. You always figured your father was some breed of masochist for loving her in spite of it.
"But, sempul…"
"You understand how it is with your mother," he reasoned softly, then became firm once more. "Run along now, 'eveng."
You walked away, rendered as indignant as your sister. You wondered where that girl was. Your conversation was hardly over.
Now, it wasn't Tsireya's first experience falling victim to your refusal to let her live her own life. She knew it stemmed from a place of love. A protective, suffocating love that often felt like a comfortable prison, but a prison nonetheless. She longed to love freely without repercussions. No amount of no altered that fact. What did you expect? The heart wants what it wants.
So, predictably, she turned to someone who shared the same plight.
"Lo'ak!"
"Hey," he smiled, accepting her hands shyly with relief, "for a minute there, I thought you weren't gonna show."
"Nonsense." Tsireya regarded him through her lashes, mouth curling into a frown.
"What is wrong, ma'txampay-syulang?"
My ocean flower. Ever the smooth operator. Tsireya couldn't stifle the snicker that passed through her frowning lips.
"It is silly that you still try to call me that."
He placed a hand on his chest, offended, "You know you like it."
She rolled her eyes, pulling away with a chuckle.
"Seriously, do you mind telling me what's wrong?"
Tsireya sighed, "I do not think this," she gestured to the both of them, "is such a good idea."
"Woah, where is this coming from?" Lo'ak fussed, joining her in the water.
"Oh, you know, father," she shrugged, "…and my sister."
"'Course."
"Listen, Lo'ak. I care about you deeply," Tsireya touched his forearm lightly, "It is just that father insists I cannot hang around boys until my sister herself agrees to be courted."
"Hey, let's not stress. How about the 'prospective mate' business with your mom? Any news?"
"It is not that easy. If you knew my sister, you would know that kind of thing won’t stop her," she smiled wryly, "I know it is a stupid rule, but I hope you can understand me."
Lo'ak melted under her gaze, completely captivated until she began to turn away. The absence of Tsireya's bright eyes snapped him back into the present. Not that there were any around but, by Eywa, he'd would throw himself at a thanator if she asked nicely.
"'Reya, wait, that's perfect!" he grinned impishly, tucking a stray hair behind her perked-up ear, "Don't worry your pretty head about it, just leave everything to me."
Perplexed, Tsireya watched her cosmic loverboy splash out onto shore with fierce determination.

The past evening weighed on Neteyam's soul as he ambled along the village at dawn.
Throughout his life, he had his fair share of occasional shortcomings. Emphasis on occasional. He was, after all, the proclaimed golden child of the family. But never in his fifteen years had he suffered a failure as monumental as his sour interaction with the olo'eyktan's daughter.
You. Cruel, confusing you.
Your rejection simmered in his mind, raising all sorts of thoughts, turning into questions, which turned into insecurities he didn't even know he had.
What wasn't there to like about Neteyam? He was kind, charismatic, inviting, and, at the risk of tooting his own horn, he didn't think he was a bad-looking guy. Looks were inevitable, what with the blessing known as the Sully gene pool. In short, he never had a problem winning people over at the snap of a finger. He was universally adored.
Except by one.
In all fairness, you weren't known to make exceptions. Though, it didn't exactly even the playing field when it came to all this courting business.
That's right. Just when Neteyam thought the situation couldn't possibly get any worse, Lo'ak's antics reached a new low with a lovely new development from within enemy lines.
"Get this, Tonowari's a complete psycho. The guy just won't let Tsireya date."
"Bummer, baby bro," Neteyam shrugged, feigning despair, "I guess we've got no choice but to fall back..."
"Uh-uh, let me finish."
"Don't tell me there's a catch."
"Oh, there's a catch alright," Lo'ak wagered with a conniving smirk, "Tsireya can't date unless big sis, over here, does. That's where you come in."
Easier said than done. How the hell was anybody going to manage that? Least of all, him?
Lo'ak suggested feeding him hackneyed pickup lines through comms, which Neteyam concluded was an absurd idea. To say that would never work was an understatement. He could talk to girls, for Eywa's sake. Although, with every hour that passed since his fumble, you appeared more like an impenetrable fortress than a cute girl.
He'd never admit that out loud. The last part, anyway.
In the haze of his introspection, he didn't even realize that he was bound for a collision course into a poor person.
Oh, shit. Talk about a sign from the cosmos.
Neteyam shook his head in realization, braids rebounding. "Oh, sorry."
You rolled your eyes without so much as a greeting, heading from point A to somewhere.
"So," Neteyam followed suit, feet on autopilot as he pursued you, "bumping into people now, huh?"
"That's one way to get a guy's attention," he remarked.
"Ah, it is my only purpose in life," you sing-songed, "but, obviously, I seem to have summoned you here so I guess I can say I have succeeded. The world is right again."
He chuckled girlishly. Now, this. This was jarring. Here was a persistent Neteyam Sully by your side, helping himself to a giggle at what you had to say. The solar system had to be out of balance.
"Whatcha doing?"
"Not that it is any of your business," you picked up your pace, "but early morning training."
"No way, I'm headed there too!"
You had to scoff.
"Don't you have a tree to climb or something? A bush you can scamper off into?"
"First of all, offensive," he counted, "And second, I happen to really like training. It's good for the body."
Annoyingly enough, it was true. Neteyam tapped his heart, a few inches away from which a healed scar sat. You looked away abruptly as if your eyes were singed.
"I am not begging for your forgiveness, by the way, if that was what you were asking," you ran a hand through your curls with a snort. Neteyam had to buy himself a glance, even the tiniest one, but before he knew it you had dashed for the training compound.
Not even a few minutes in and you were so desperate to get away. Neteyam waded through a sea of young fighters to reconnect with you. You had taken to abusing a bag of sand, no doubt releasing some pent-up frustration through your fists. He tilted his head with a smile, chin leisurely rested in his hand.
You halted, eyeing him up and down. His amusement was a stranger to you and, honestly, you had to stave off the discomfort tingling in your skin from the way he stared.
Neteyam caught a blade you tossed his way.
"Okay, I get it," he raised an alarmed hand, "Early morning assassination attempt, very cool."
"Do not flatter yourself," you suppressed a chortle, "It is blunt."
He raised a brow as you assumed fighting stance, beckoning him over.
"If you plan to just stand there like an idiot, I don't suppose you would like to at least be a useful idiot."
"Of course," Neteyam obliged with a grin, swinging the weapon in his nimble hands.
You swung your knife with a lunge, movements aggressive as you worked on disarming him. He was quick to counter your attacks, blocking your attempts at every turn. Although Neteyam could beat you in a heartbeat, he settled for the back-and-forth you had eased into. He found himself savoring the image of you, all fierce-eyed, with tightly-knit brows and flared nostrils, indignant huffs escaping your lips now and again.
It was kind of endearing.
"Alright, forest boy," you conceded, "That's enough."
After a while, you accepted you couldn't beat him out of this stalemate.
"Seriously?" Neteyam watched, intent, as you curled indignantly into a ball on the sand, panting. "I didn't expect you to go down without a fight."
"Well, I am not invincible and, besides," you had to admit, though, with a begrudging eye-roll to maintain some semblance of animosity, "The way you fight... you are good."
Neteyam couldn't believe what he was hearing. You thought he was good. And then he began to smile, rather stupidly.
"Could it be that the fierce tsakarem of the Metkayina is actually being nice to me?" He reached out his arm, "There's a chance I'm still asleep, you'll have to pinch me."
"Is that-" you stood, eyes widened in mock horror, "Did your head just double in size?"
He clicked his tongue, "You know what you said."
You narrowed said eyes. Neteyam raised his hands appeasingly, suddenly struck by the image of Ronal ushering them back home after asking your clan for uturu.
"You know," He fiddled with the handle of his blade, "You're not so bad yourself."
Neteyam could have sworn he incited a smile. But it was gone as quick as he saw it, like one of those rare shells Tuk sought after then always complained when they washed away too fast for her liking.
You shook your head, unimpressed, as you brushed past him to retrieve some weapon.
His eyes traced an intricate path of ink along your forearm, a formidable symbol of your bygone iknimaya. It must have been quite the undertaking. He put it on the table after his family's arrival in your village, a time when he tried to acclimatize to your ways as fast as possible, pull his weight in clan duties to win the good faith of your people, become true Metkayina in their eyes.
At least then, Ao'nung would have the good sense not to pull on his tail all the damn time. Perhaps there would be a tiny chance that even you would take him seriously.
Praise Eywa, that was it.
"You fight well," he pressed on. "I think you've got all the right instincts."
"But I guess your technique could use a bit of work," he shrugged.
You raised an accusatory brow.
"Don't get me wrong, I mean- I trained a fair share of young warriors back home-"
"Your point?"
Boy, he'd gone and done it now. He just had to criticize. You must have been pissed off. Any chance of his plan to get you to warm up to him was near to being snuffed out at this point.
"Point being, if you ever needed help brushing up on your skills. I know somebody who would be into that."
His hand took a sudden interest in scratching his nape. Neteyam fully expected you to lecture him, disparage him, just something.
"Oh-kay," you stretched your arms, apparently unfazed, "Thanks for the offer."
"You're welcome?" he shrieked then cleared his throat, "Yeah, you're welcome."
A beat of silence burned his nervous ears.
"I am sensing there's more, though," you observed, looking down at him. "Am I right?"
"Busted," he yielded.
"Out with it then," you hassled.
He raised his heels up and down.
"Well, our brothers are undergoing their iknimaya in a few weeks," he began, teeth clamping down on his bottom lip, "And I plan to join them."
You yawned.
"Though, the truth is, I do not exactly know what I am getting myself into so I thought I would uh- enlist your help?"
"What?" you rubbed your face, "I thought you achieved iknimaya back home."
"I have," his tail wagged aimlessly. "But this is a different case. Different clan. It hasn't exactly been easy to belong all this time so this is important to me, in a way."
You removed the hand shielding your eyes, disarmed by this sudden display of vulnerability.
"Okay," you snorted. "Of all people, why ask me?"
"Word of mouth," he smiled submissively. "According to legend, you have a bit of a reputation for being one of the best."
You raised both brows. Neteyam noted that the apples of your cheeks slightly purpled at the mention of your past prowess.
You crossed your arms, chuckling insidiously. "What makes you think I would even want to help you?"
He shook his head with a growing smirk.
"I am not convinced you're as mean as they say you are."
Your face contorted in disbelief.
"Incorrect," you scoffed. "And I am not interested."
"Come on- at least think about it, I'd be hopeless without you-"
"You see, I just cannot bring myself to care."
Neteyam bit his lip, scanning you for a second, before heaving a sigh.
"Nevermind, you're probably busy all the time." he resigned, "I am sorry for asking, thanks anyways."
You watched coldly as he began to lug himself away, head hung low. What a skxawng. Only a fool would expect you to go out of your way for the sake of altruism. It was the right call. You hardly had the time, always preoccupied by some pressing matter or other. In what world would you sacrifice yourself in an act of goodwill?
You tapped your foot frantically as he gradually came out of view.
Your mind seemed to want you to stay put, but it was as if your cursed feet had other plans, sweeping you towards the direction in which he had disappeared.
Eywa help you for what you deigned to do next.
"Neteyam!"
He came to a halt halfway across the beach. You jogged up to face him.
"Okay."
"Okay, what?" Neteyam looked at you expectantly.
You exhaled harshly.
"I'll... help you."
"You will?"
You blinked, groaning inwardly.
"Yes..."
He exaggeratedly fell to his knees. "Oh, thank you, Great Mother, thank you."
"Get up," you chided. "I will help you but it won't be easy. I will not be easy on you."
Neteyam rejoiced, shit-eating canines making an appearance as he beamed at you.
"I expect nothing less."
You walked onwards.
"We will train at dawn so I expect your mornings for the rest of this week to be free."
"Copy that," he saluted.
You creased your brows, surmising it must have been some kind of strange sky people-speak.
"You will not, under any circumstances, be late."
He muttered a meagre, "Uh-huh."
"I am serious," you insisted, "Otherwise, I won't bother-"
"Okay, okay- I think I got the message."
"Good."
You started to walk onwards, briskly nudging his shoulder.
"I look forward to it," he hollered.
You turned around with an unamused glare.
"And don't be cute about it."

Together pt. 1 | Neteyam Sully
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: [Request by Anon] Could you do a Neteyam x f!reader where she is the eldest child of Ronal and Tonowari? Being the eldest of two Olo’eyktan, they understand each other so much. One night, they confide in each other, Neteyam how he longs to come back to his home but can’t say anything as the perfect golden child and always have to watch out and take the blame for his siblings, even though he loves them more than anything. Reader confesses how much pressure and feels like a failure to her parents, and she is so deeply scared to death about her siblings that she loves more than anything. One thing leads to another, and they spend the night together (no smut, please). Comes the day after, and they do not speak to each other, so confused and refusing to acknowledge what happened. For fuck sake they are young and not mated. But Ewya has other plans for them and reader is pregnant. She tries to hide it especially from her parents as Neteyam and his family will probably be outcast and she will disappoint them so much.
genre: angst, hurt/comfort
pairing: Neteyam Sully x fem!metkayina!reader
warnings: characters are age up (18 years old), so I changed Neteyam’s age, allusion to sex, but NO SMUT, mention of young adult/teenage pregnancy (no romanization). Use of "y/n" maybe like three times.
a/n: my first request! And I took too long to write it (I'm sorry), that's why I have divided this in two parts. I have been a little stressed and feeling down, but I'm here. I hope anon and everyone enjoy this one. English is not my first language, please be kind <3.
Masterlist Pt 2
Tumblr media
“Where were you?” Neytiri asked her eldest son.
“Yeah. What happened to ‘keep an eye on your brother’?” his dad followed.
“Sorry, sir.” That was all Neteyam could say, even though his own answer was physically hurting him.
All the time, 24/7, he had to take care of Lo'ak. Maybe he didn't have the pressure of being the next Olo’eyktan anymore, but now, in a whole new clan, he had to prove everyone he was the mighty warrior, son of Toruk Makto. But his siblings didn't help. He loved his family, but he hated the way he had to be a third parent, especially when his younger brother almost died (which was definitely not his fault).
After the incident with Lo'ak, Neteyam decided he needed a break, so he walked, and walked, and walked until he found a spot where he could hide enough time until he felt better.
He liked the depth of the island because it reminded him of his home. The metkayina were mostly on the shores of the Island, so there was almost always no one in the forest. That's why Neteyam thought he had no company in the woods. Surprisingly, when he was enjoying his time alone (still upset) he heard a slight ‘thump’. It sounded like someone threw something at one of the trees.
Unlike home, this forest was not as full of vines or places to hide, but the green leaves didn’t allow to see around him easily. He forgot to bring his bow, but he always carried his knife, so he got into a defensive position and slowly, sharpening his hearing, he waited to hear another sound.
“Damn it.” a voice said.
Neteyam got closer carefully. The moonlight snuck into the middle of the treetops straight towards the person who was keeping him company, so he finally saw you.
The first thing he noticed was your beautiful hair braided on top and decorated with shells and ocean rocks, not forgetting your hairpiece, the one who reflected your status among the people. He recognized the elegant pearls your top had and the songcord that was hanging gracefully from your loincloth.
What was unusual and a little confusing was seeing your upset and distressed expression, since whenever he observed you from afar he looked at the relaxed and kind expression you gave to your people. Not like he was looking at you all the time.
Yo started to walk in circles, murmuring things he couldn't listen to. Apparently, his trained capacity of moving smoothly was so good you didn't notice his presence. When you turned around you immediately hiss and show your long sharp nails in a defensive way. When you recognize him, you let out a tired sight.
“Neteyam, you scared me.”
“Y/n, I see you.” He did the sign showing respect. “Sorry about scaring you, that was not my intention.”
Even if both of you were formal, actually, you guys were pretty familiar with each other. Because, of course, as the oldest daughter of the Olo’eyktan, you were there helping the Sullys when they arrive to the village and most of the time, when you weren't training with your mother, you liked to trained with them or just have a good time with them and your siblings.
“You seem pretty upset.” Neteyam talked first.
“Well, you too.”
Nobody said anything because no one wanted to show vulnerability. A thin tension started to build until you decided to let your guard down a little. It wasn't that you didn't trust Neteyam, but you weren't used to showing people when something was wrong. On the other hand, Neteyam wasn't used to talking with others when he wasn't feeling well.
“It's just… it sucks, you know?” You said, sitting on top of a big rock.
“I know, it does.” Both of you chuckled. “If you need to talk with someone, it would be just between us.”
“I don't want to bother you, it's stupid.”
“If the future Tsahik is upset, it should be pretty serious.” He said with a teasing smirk. That made you smile a little bit.
After a little silence, you started. “First of all, I love my siblings with all my heart. I don't have anything against them and I don't know what I would do if something happens to them. I also love my parents, but sometimes mom and dad put so much pressure on us, especially me. I mean, sometimes I get it, I'm the future spiritual leader, but I'm their daughter too, you know?”
“Yeah, it's like they forget you are still a child who wants to go home too and suddenly you are the third parent.” You looked at him with worried eyes, knowing why he was saying that and feeling someone was finally understanding you. Neteyam was now sitting next to you.
“Ao'nung acts like the king already when he has a whole pad to follow until he becomes Olo’eyktan. He's mean to your siblings at the point he almost killed Lo'ak today.” You said, upset. “Sorry about that, by the way.”
“You don't have to be sorry, it's not your fault. That's the problem, it's not my fault either. Why do we have to take responsibility just because it involves our younger brothers? Lo'ak is old enough to know what is right and wrong, but I have to take responsibility for his skxawng ass.”
“They might really think we are the third parent. Apparently we are always with them and we can control everything they do.”
“Like if we were some kind of psychics.”
“What's a psychics?” You asked a little bit confused. Neteyam saw your cute face, trying to figure it out if that was a good thing.
“Sorry.” He laughed. “They are people who can see the future.”
“Oh.” You whispered. “Yeah, like if we were some kind of psychics!” You said, this time a little bit more upset. “Wait, isn’t Tsahik some kind of psychics?” You looked at each other and then burst into laughter.
Minutes passed and you started to talk about other things. It was magical how you two had so much in common and understood each other. Neteyam was so happy he could finally get close to you, well, closer than all the days and nights all of you (metkayina and omaticaya siblings) swam and trained together.
Under the moon, surrounded by beautiful plants, you lay on the ground and start joking. Like that, Neteyam looked more relaxed than you've ever seen him. Most of the time he was the “Mighty Warrior”, but you liked to see him like that, like his true self.
“You know you look handsome when you smile?” You said all of a sudden.
“What?” Neteyam thought he imagined your sweet voice saying that, just like in his dreams.
“Sorry.” You said a little embarrassed, sitting down.
“No, no. It's okay.” He smiled. “It's just… Nobody has ever told me something like that.” You two blushed. “You are beautiful, you know that?” You looked at him surprised. “Oh, c'mon, don't tell me it's the first time someone tells you this.”
“Boys always want to be close to me so they can court me in the future. They want an opportunity with the future Tsahik, not with the real me.”
“Well, they are stupid.”
Neteyam was sitting down already, so he took his time admiring your face closely.
“Don't do that, you are making me nervous.”
“Oh, you are always making me nervous, pretty lady.” You smiled. “Every time you are close my heart can't take it, it feels like I'm gonna faint.”
You began to get closer too, watching his lips with attention. You felt very nervous, but that didn't stop you from closing all distance and kissing him shyly and sweetly. Neteyam was surprised, but he couldn't deny he was waiting for this moment since the day you helped him with his breathing teaching, realising he liked you too much.
His hands rested on the sides of your jaw, deepening the kiss, while you played a little bit with his hair. That triggered something in Neteyam, making the kiss no longer sweet, but a little hungrier. You let out a surprised little noise. He guided you, leaving you lying on the floor again, with him on top of you.
“Can I…? You know we don't need to do this if you don't want to.”
“Please…” You whispered before he kissed you again.
The next day you flatly refused to talk to or even see Neteyam, because you were confused and angry with yourself. You weren't going to lie, you enjoyed every second of the night you spent with Neteyam. You felt comfortable, loved, and safe, but the problem was that you two weren't a couple and you weren't even courting. Your mother had always told you that the first time had to be special because Eywa was the one who unites all mates and your father had assured you that you should not give yourself body and soul to someone unless you truly loved each other because, otherwise, you could get hurt.
“I'm stupid, I'm so so so stupid.” You scolded yourself alone after Neteyam greeted you from across the beach while he was fishing with his father, and you walked away completely ignoring him.
Neteyam was so happy when you two woke up that morning and greeted each other with a smile. But when you got away every time he tried to talk to you, he realised maybe something bad happened.
“I hope you don't think we didn't notice you were not in the marui last night.” His father scolded again, when they were preparing their knives.
He told him he had fallen asleep by accident while searching for beads for his mother, like the first time he arrived in the morning when the only one awake was his dad.
All day and night he felt bad about what happened with you. He thought about it a lot and came to the conclusion that maybe, even if it was the best thing that happened to him in his short life, it was a mistake not to have done things right with you. He should have asked your parents for permission, he should have courted you and given you gifts until you said yes. And now he messed up.
Three weeks passed in which you filled yourself with tasks to avoid going out with your siblings and the Sullys. You felt bad. You missed singing with Tsireya, hunting with Ao'nung, walking to the shore with Rotxo, joking with Lo'ak, swimming with Kiri and feeding ilus with little Tuk, but what you missed the most was Neteyam’s warm company. Still, you refused to approach them fearing that Neteyam would try to talk about what happened that night and that the others would notice that something was wrong.
“Aren't you gonna eat your breakfast, little fish?” Your father asked.
“I'm okay, I need to go to the shore. The best shells are usually hidden deep in the sand, so I prefer to look now so as not to miss the daylight."
“But, we don't need too many shells.” Tsireya said, helping her mother with the sleep mats.
“We might not need too many, but we need the best for our clothes for the mating ceremony of Ae'k and Payu next week.”
You lied, so you didn't have to accept the fact that the food smelled bad for you. You didn't want to offend your parents, who spend so much time cooking together, especially when you were the only one who seemed to have that issue. When you were out of the marui, your little sister caught up to you before you got any further.
“Wait, sister. Is everything alright?”
“Yes, why?”
“I don't know. You seem distant since a couple of weeks ago, even Ao'nung noticed. You don't have time to hang up or train with us, but I was hoping you weren't mad at us. The Sullys asked us what we did to you.
“Oh, Reya, I'm so sorry. I'm not mad or something like that, I just have a lot of responsibilities lately, but as soon as I have time I'll go with you guys, okay?”
“Okay.” She smiled, still a little worried.
Neteyam saw you on the beach, searching for something in the sand. He considered approaching you, but decided he didn't want to bother you.
“What's happening between the two of you?” Kiri asked after a few minutes where Neteyam would peek at your direction every so often.
“What? What are you talking about?” Neteyam asked, clearly avoiding the topic.
“Come on. At first I thought Ao'nung and Tsireya did something to make her mad, like Lo'ak and Tuk, but I can see the way you want to talk to her and she's… basically ignoring you.”
Kiri's words hurt him a little, but he knew she was right. He hesitated. He didn't want to talk about what happened, he felt somehow he was disrespecting your privacy, but he couldn't take it anymore.
“Sorry, Kiri. I have to talk with her.”
He decided he had to talk to you since her sister noticed something was wrong. Now it was just her, but it was a matter of time until the other ones noticed.
Neteyam walked to your figure kneeling on the sand. You were so invested with your shell searching that you didn't notice him approaching.
“Y/n, can we talk?” He asked not wanting his voice to tremble.
“I am kind of busy right now. Sorry, Neteyam.” The tone of voice you used wasn't rude, but a little bit cold.
“Please, we need to talk about what happened that night.”
“Nothing happened that night.” You answered, stopping your movements, but not looking up at him.
“Really? Nothing happened?” He asked, now hurt.
You sighted tired and frustrated. You weren't feeling good, but that wasn't an excuse to hurt him. “Sorry, I didn't mean it like that. It's just… it's complicated and now I don't feel like talking.” You answered, standing up. When you were on your feet, you trembled a little, noticing the way your vision got blurry.
“Wow, are you okay?” Neteyam asked, worried, holding you by the elbows to keep you from falling. When you looked at his beautiful golden eyes you almost gave up. Somehow you felt the need to take refuge in his arms.
“I'm fine. Thank you.” Like that you walked to the marui where the clan kept the materials needed to make clothes. Fortunately, it was empty.
“Please. It's okay if you feel uncomfortable, it's completely understandable. But we can't avoid the topic forever.” He said, unaware of how your world started spinning. You kneeled on a mat, distracting yourself by organising the shells in the right place. “We need to talk. Whenever you are ready, but, please. Kiri already noticed something.”
“Neteyam…” your view turned black for a moment and you didn't know how you ended up lying on the mat with Neteyam kneeling next to you, holding your head.
“Hey, hey. Y/n, please wake up. Open your eyes for me.”
“What happened?”
“I don't know. You fainted for a few seconds. Did you eat this morning?”
“Not really.” The light was hurting your eyes, so it was difficult to open your eyes completely.
“Damn it. Why? You can't be doing things like that. You need to eat, otherwise you are gonna feel sick.”
Then everything made sense. No, you weren't feeling like that because you didn't eat. It was the third time in the week you felt like that. You puked once, when taking care of the youngest ones of the clan, after you played with them. Gladly no one saw you because you ran to the woods on time.
Your disgust for the food was definitely new. You never felt rejection of your mother's food. Not even when you were sick as a child. At those times you eat different things, but never you decide not to eat.
Your mother… Your mother was feeling like that now that she was expecting…
“Oh, my Eywa.” You whispered, sitting down and covering your mouth. “No. No. No. No.”
“What? What is it?” Neteyam asked, now worried to death about your sudden change of mood.
“Neteyam… I think I am pregnant.”
Neteyam and you talked in that marui for hours, sitting down a little far from each other. You knew you wouldn't have privacy in any other place, besides the woods, but you didn't want to go there, for obvious reasons. The metkayina didn't enter the marui because it wasn't the day of the week to make clothes. So you two had plenty of time to discuss your little... situation.
“Are you completely sure?” Neteyam whispered, looking at the mat.
“Well, we just can be completely sure by asking my mother, and we are not gonna do that.” You bit your lip, anxious. “But I had the symptoms and I had never felt like that, not until… until you.” You said, hugging your knees embarrassed.
Neteyam looked at you at the mention. He knew it wasn't the right moment, but he liked how you had said that. And you looked so beautiful like that.
“Well… then, we are gonna take responsibility for our actions.” He said, decisively. “Do you want to?” He asked, changing his tone, now nervous for your answer.
“I don't know… I mean, what other option do we have? But I don't want to have them just because that's how it should be. I feel bad.” You said, rubbing your now flat belly. “And I don't know if I am prepared.”
“I know. I don't feel prepared either.”
“Wait, you wanna… you wanna be with me in this?”
“Of course I want to.” He stood up and sat next to you. He took your chin so you could make eye contact. “I would love to if you want it and if you let me.”
All you could do was hug him tight. He embraced you and his scent was everything you needed to feel safe and calm again.
“Now… What's our plan?” He asked.

Truth or Dare
🔞Minors Do Not Interact🔞
A/N: Okay so I've had this idea for a while, but I just had no idea how to really execute it. So huge thanks to the anon that suggested the truth or dare premise. I love you! I hope you guys enjoy this one. This is also my first time really writing Ao'nung where he's involved in the story so go easy on me lol. All characters are aged up.
Pairing: Neteyam x Fem!Metkayina!Reader x Lo'ak x Ao'nung
Warnings: EXPLICIT SMUT, P in V, Oral (F receiving), Train, Squirting, Intense Orgasms, Creampie, Alcohol, (kinda) Manipulation, I think that's it
Word Count: 3.3k
Summary: A game of truth or dare takes a turn when Ao'nung confronts you about a rumor he heard.
When the Sully family first arrived on your shores, everybody was weary of them and their presence. While Jake was basically a living legend with his status as toruk makto, everybody knew that him being here meant that the sky people wouldn’t be far behind. Nevertheless, Tonowari granted them uturu. Ao’nung and Tsireya were in charge of teaching the kids everything they needed to know to live here and you would tag along since Tsireya was your best friend.
The early days were rocky to put it lightly. The Sully boys and Ao’nung had a hard time getting along, which was entirely Ao’nung’s fault with his constant and unprompted teasing. You hated that part of him.
Even though Tsireya was like a sister to you, your feelings for Ao’nung were…more complicated. You had a crush on him for years, but you couldn’t deny that he had some irritating qualities about him. Usually, he only acted like that when he was with his friends. It was like he felt the need to show off for them. It was exhausting. And right around that time was when you started to actually take notice of the Sully brothers. They were so different from everything that you had grown up with. Their skin was a darker shade of blue, their frames were much more slim to help them maneuver through the forest more efficiently, thin tails, amber eyes, completely braided hair instead of any loose curls, and no tattoos to be seen.
Your curiosity had been piqued already by just their physical appearance. But as you got to know them, your interest grew. Neteyam was charming and traditional. He took training very seriously and you would often try to get him to loosen up and have a little fun. Lo’ak on the other hand was full of surprises. He was funny and adventurous. You enjoyed spending time with them.
Over the last couple of years that they’ve lived here, you’ve all grown close, even with Ao’nung. The Sully kids adapted to your ways quickly and they’ve become upstanding, respected members of the clan.
Tonight, you are all sitting around a fire on the beach drinking like you would do often when you all had some free time. You all laugh and joke and talk for hours under the night sky. Eventually Kiri announces that she’s ready to turn in for the night and Tsireya follows suit behind her leaving you alone with Ao’nung, Neteyam, and Lo’ak. The precarious position you’re in right now is lost on you, but not Ao’nung. He sees this as the perfect opportunity to have a little fun with you.
“How about we play a game?” he suggests with a sly grin.
You raise an eyebrow at him since suggesting games wasn’t usually his thing, but you were curious to see where this was going. “What game?” “Truth or Dare.”
“Alright, who wants to go first?” you ask.
You all shift your gazes around at each other for a second before Lo’ak decides to raise his hand and volunteer.
“Okay, Lo’ak, truth or dare?”
“Truth, hit me with your best shot.” He turns his nose up showing off his confidence in his choice.
You try to think of a good question to ask him, “Are you a virgin?” You’re not sure why that was the question that came to mind, but you put it out there now so you have to stand by it.
“Nope.” He winks at you when he answers and Neteyam swats his arm to tell him to behave.
“No real surprise there, I guess” you say about to take another sip of your drink.
“Guess you would know, huh?” you hear Ao’nung mumble next to you.
You turn to look at him with a questioning look, “And what is that supposed to mean?”
“Well, I mean, guys talk. And I’ve heard a thing or two about you is all.” He shrugs his shoulders nonchalantly while Neteyam and Lo’ak watch on.
“Alright, my turn to ask. Truth or dare?” Lo’ak asks you.
“Truth.” “So is it true? What all the guys say about you?” Neteyam hits Lo’ak again. He can’t believe that Lo’ak would actually ask you such a thing.
You don’t take any offence to the question, though. “Wouldn’t you like to find out?” you laugh a little to yourself taking another swig of your drink.
“I would, actually.” Ao’nung speaks up. “See, I think you’re all talk. And the stories I’ve heard? I think they’re just that, stories. There’s no way you’d be able to handle a real pounding.” Ao’nung knew exactly what he was doing. He was challenging you. Testing you to see how far you’d go to prove him wrong. He’s always known how to manipulate you into doing what he wanted. And you weren’t stupid. You could recognize the manipulation from a mile away. But you could never stop yourself from playing right into his schemes. And this time would be no different.
“Please, I could take all 3 of you if I wanted.” You scoff. You’re mostly bluffing, but you’re feeling emboldened by the alcohol. Your words make Neteyam choke a little on his drink across from you.
Ao’nung leans closer to your face with a devilish look, “Prove it, then. I dare you.”
Your jaw clenches while you mentally wrestle with yourself. Were you really about to do this? Just to prove a point? What point were you even trying to actually prove? But you didn’t want to back out now. Fuck it.
“Fine. Who wants to go first?” You look between the three of them and each of them have a different expression on their faces. Neteyam looks borderline horrified at the suggestion. Lo’ak is in disbelief. And Ao’nung looks smug as hell. “I’ll do it. Doubt you’ll actually see it through though” he taunts. He stands to undo his loincloth while you do the same.
Neteyam and Lo’ak are wide-eyed at the scene unfolding front of them. “Bro, is this for real?” Neteyam leans over and asks Lo’ak not fully believing what he’s witnessing. “Bro, I sure hope it is.”
You lie on your back and let your knees fall open to expose your glistening cunt. Ao’nung has a quick flash of amazement run across his face before he replaces it with his signature sly grin. “So wet already. Is that all for me?” he teases while rubbing his tip through your slick.
“You wish. This is for our audience.” You retort and shoot a wink to the two brothers watching in disbelief. Both of their faces are flushed, but Lo’ak’s eyes are already staring at you full of lust. Your eyes snap back to Ao’nung when he starts to sink into you.
Your mouth falls open feeling the way he stretches you. Truth was, you had only had sex once before. It was stupid and didn’t last that long and you both agreed to not tell anybody about it. Clearly, you were the only one that held up your end of the agreement and that’s part of the reason you’re even in this situation right now.
Ao’nung was much bigger than the other guy and the fullness makes tears start to prick at the corners of your eyes, but you fight to hold them back. By the time he bottoms out inside of you, your fingers are digging into the sand beneath you trying to steady yourself while you adjust to his intruding size.
“Damn, so fucking tight. You sure you’re not a virgin?” he’s trying to tease you, but you can see how his breathing starts to stagger. He sets a slow pace steadily thrusting into your heat. Your eyes close feeling his hips roll into yours. The pain quickly subsided and left only pleasure in its wake. Soft moans leave your lips feeling how he grazes your sweet spot. You lock your legs around his waist pulling him impossibly closer to you. “Oh fuck, right there.”
Ao’nung can’t take the sound of your voice. It’s driving him crazy to watch the way his cock sinks into you over and over again. He had secretly wanted this for so long. To have you right now, hair splayed out, eyes rolling back, and sweet moans leaving your mouth, it’s more than he can bear. He buries his face in your neck breathing in your scent and letting it cloud his senses.
You look over at Neteyam and Lo’ak relishing in the feeling of being watched. Neteyam has a hard time holding his eyes on you, but Lo’ak is completely tuned in and stroking himself through his loincloth. His eyes don’t leave you for a second. Something about knowing that he’s watching you be used and knowing that he’s touching himself just dying to be inside of you turns you on even more. It makes the growing knot in your stomach tighten even more, just seconds away from snapping. “Oh shit…I’m gonna cum.”
Ao’nung sits up on his knees and throws your legs on his shoulders to angle your hips up and drill directly into your sweet spot. “Ah!..Ao’nung ha-ah….I’m cumming!” your head falls back and your hands desperately search for something to grab onto while your first orgasm washes over you. Ao’nung grunts above you feeling how your walls clench him even tighter and now he’s nearing his own high.
Once you ride out your high, he pulls out of you and strokes himself over you until he cums on your stomach. It’s hot and thick, but the feeling grounds you back into reality. Both of your chests are heaving trying to catch your breath.
You look up at him while he’s composing himself, “Told you.”
He chuckles lowly, “Don’t start talking shit just yet. You still have 2 more to go.” He grabs his loincloth and starts to redo it.
Lo’ak practically jumps from his place in the sand. He’s been eager to get his turn since you first agreed. It was almost painful how hard he was. He unties his loincloth and even you can notice how big your eyes get. His cock springs to life already rock hard and oozing precum. The length and girth are completely different from Metkayina men. Suddenly one of your friends’ words make sense to you now. ‘It’s always the skinny ones that surprise you.’ Guess she wasn’t joking.
He watches your face in amusement. He knew he was blessed and he had no intention of being humble about it.
“Alright, how do you want m—”
Before you can finish your thought, Lo’ak had already flipped you over and hoisted your hips up into the air. “Just like that.” His hands slide up and down your thick thighs and his calloused fingers grip the plush of your ass. He grips and spreads and smacks just relishing in the view of your arousal dripping down your legs. He feels like his head is spinning.
You prepare yourself for him to enter you, but instead, he uses his tongue and licks one long stripe from your clit up to your dripping hole and tongue fucks you. Now, this was a completely new sensation. It was like nothing you’d ever felt before and it was like heaven. “Fuck, you taste even better than I imagined.”
Little squeals and mewls fall from your mouth while his tongue pokes and prods inside of you. His hands continue exploring your ass and spreading you open even more for easier access.
Once he’s had his fill, he sits up on his knees and aligns himself with your hole. You feel the tip poke at your entrance and suddenly there’s lightning shooting through you as he rams his entire length into you at once.
He gives you no real time to adjust as he starts pounding into you. “Shit, man you weren’t kidding. She is fucking tight.” He’s pulled into a trance watching the way your ass bounces back against his hips. Your moans are loud and shameless. He reaches a new depth that feels like he’s poking into your stomach. It’s almost too much, but when you look over at Ao’nung and Neteyam, the way Neteyam starts to bite his lip listening to you and Ao’nung is casually stroking himself watching you, you can’t even be bothered to think about anything else but how much you want them to watch you more.
“Haah…more! More Lo’ak!” you breathlessly plead. Your body starts to move on its own throwing your hips back into him to meet his thrusts. You’re trying to push him even deeper into you which would normally hurt, but in the fog of your desire, it gives you nothing but satisfaction.
Lo’ak leans forward and reaches around to start rubbing messy circles on your clit. “Ah! Fuck!” The stimulation makes your whole lower body feel like electricity.
“Yeah, cum on that dick. Just like that.” His breath is hot against the shell of your ear and your body starts to shake under the force of your second orgasm. It’s too much to contain and you can feel an even more intense feeling taking over you right at the very peak. “Shit shit shit!” You have no time to get any more words out before you squirt all over Lo’ak’s lower body and hand. His fingers on your clit rub back and forth spraying your juices everywhere while he still pounds into you chasing his own high. “Ah! Lo-ak! Fuck!” Hearing how your voice calls out his name pushes him over the edge. He quickly pulls out of you at the last second and pumps his fist up and down his shaft until his hot cum spills onto your back.
Your legs finally give way and you fall into the sand. Lo’ak stands and pulls his loincloth back on. A dull ache starts to settle in your core from all the abuse it’s taken, but you harden your resolve knowing that there was still one more. You all turn to look at Neteyam and his face flushes feeling put on the spot. If you were being totally transparent, Neteyam was the one you were most curious about. Unlike most men his age, he didn’t go around bragging about his size or his sexual conquests. He has always been more reserved when it came to that kind of stuff. He was a wild card. You didn’t really know what to expect from him.
“Come on, bro. You’ve got to. Swear you won’t regret it.” Lo’ak says lightly slapping his shoulder.
He hesitates and stumbles over his words trying to pick whatever he feels like is the right answer. While he speaks, you notice the huge bulge under his loincloth. You muster all the strength you can find in your body and crawl over to him slow and sensually. His eyes lock on you and he watches as you get right between his legs and play with the knot on the waistband of his cloth. “Come on ‘Teyam. Come play with me.”
He swallows hard while you untie his loincloth and free his throbbing cock. His size may be the most impressive. It’s similar to Lo’ak, but slightly skinnier and about an inch longer. Your subconscious panics a little thinking about how it was going to fit inside of you. Lo’ak was already crowding your cervix when he was inside of you, but your conscious mind has already decided that you’re just going to have to make it fit.
Your hand strokes his dick experimentally watching his expression intently. He holds your gaze while his breathing gets quicker. The two of you don’t say a word, but your eyes say everything. You silently ask him if he’s okay with this and tell him it’s fine if he’s not. But he gives you the go ahead to continue finally giving in.
You carefully straddle his lap and grind your cunt against him and coat him in your slick and the remnants of your last orgasm. His hands rest on your hips while you grind on him. “We’ll just take it easy, okay?” you say gently to him and he nods.
You lift your hips and catch his tip right on your entrance. You lower yourself down on him slowly to help ease him into it, but also because your hole is so worn out from the previous beatings and you need to take his size slowly. Inch by inch he reaches deeper and deeper into you until you could swear he’s knocking on the bottom of your lungs. It’s almost hard to even breathe by the time you make it all the way down. He watches your face trying to make sure that you’re okay and he’s not hurting you. You have to bite your lip to hold back the soft sobs that want to escape from the twinge of pain. You just have to push past this discomfort and then it’ll be fine. That’s how it goes. Slowly, you start to rock your hips back and forth on top of him. From the way Neteyam’s eyebrows knit together, you can tell he feels good and that helps you to relax and start to feel good too. You guide his hands to grip your ass, “It’s okay” you whisper to him. You let his hands grip you and lead your hips to where it feels best for him. Soon, he starts to let his hips buck up into you and it’s overwhelming. “Haah…oh fuck Neteyam…” your head feels dizzy while he strokes up into you. He’s much more gentle than Ao’nung or Lo’ak and, for now, you thank Eywa for that. Your hands grip his braids and hold his head close to your chest where Neteyam kisses and licks and sucks on every single inch of skin he can see. His big arms completely wrap around your waist to hold you in place while he ruts into you faster and harder.
“Shit, just look at how good she takes it. Maybe those rumors are true.” Lo’ak says to Ao’nung somewhere behind you. You almost forgot you had an audience and the thought of them watching as your ass bounces up and down on Neteyam’s dick sends you into a frenzy. Moans and curses weave together as they leave your mouth losing yourself on top of Neteyam. He lets out low, guttural groans feeling your heat hugging around him perfectly. Even in his best dreams, he hasn’t imagined you feeling this good. And he dreamed about it a lot.
That knot is growing in your stomach again and it’s back with a vengeance. “’Teyam, I-I’m gonna cum!”
“Shit, me too.”
You cling onto him for dear life trying to chase that high. You don’t bother to get off of him when he says he’s going to cum. All that matters is reaching that euphoria. When the knot snaps, it breaks with the force of a typhoon. Your mind goes completely blank and your vision spots with white dots, but your body moves on autopilot still rising and sinking on his cock. “Hng..shit..” Neteyam can’t hold off his own release anymore with the way your walls are squeezing him and he spills everything he has inside of you.
The fire in your core damn near sends you over the edge again, but you finally feel yourself fall back into your body as you come down.
Both of you are sweaty and clinging onto one another while your minds clear the lustful stupor you both got caught up in.
Neteyam helps lift your hips up just high enough so that he can pull out of you. The emptiness makes you wince, but you’re relieved. You fall back into the sand and stare up at the sky while the night’s events race through your head.
Ao’nung slow claps off to the side of you. “I have to admit, I didn’t think you’d be able to do it, but I’ll concede. You proved me wrong.”
Bullshit. He never cared about being proven wrong or right. And you knew that, but you couldn’t find it in you to give a damn.
A wide smile split your face and you turn your head to look at him.
“We should play this again some time.”

I smiled down at my phone as I read the texts tsireya was sending on how she loves that the teachers give her special treatment since her dad was a teacher here as well.
I rolled my eyes as she started gushing on about her new bio teacher and how hot he is 'not as hot as your dad' I bit my lip knocking off my phone and turned back to the lesson.
She is my best friend since childhood how could I do this to her fuck I let out a shakey breathe as he flexed his muscles as he wrote on the board.
My skin tingled as I listened to his voice as he explained the upcoming assignment but I wasn't focusing on that.
I imagined him bending me over the desk and thrusting into me telling me how naughty I was for thinking such things.
But as I got more into each fantasys I thought back to my last sleepover at tsireyas, I clenched my thighs together my breathe quickening.
While tsireya was sleep and her dad was out on a date I couldn't help myself but sneak into his room stripping myself of my clothes and touching myself in his bed.
My body squirmed in his bed I couldn't help myself "yn yn" I shook my head coming out of my daze "get back into the lesson" tonowari murmured handing out a small booklet to each of us.
His presences lingering at my desk people starting asking questions on the new work and before I knew it we were packing up for the end of the day.
I swung my bag over my shoulder and started making my way to the door "yn I need to speak with you" I froze blushing at his commanding tone.
I stared at the door for a few seconds as I watched the last student leave "yes Mr tonowari" I tried my best to smile as I turned to him "close the door" he murmured.
I did as I was asked my hands slightly quivering as I stood infront of him he quickly grabbed something from his desk and when I caught sight of what it was I wanted to die.
"Are these yours" he grinned as he hung the slutty looking red underwear infront my me my face turned fifty shades of pink "n-no" I stuttered.
He rolled his eyes and stuffed them in his pocket before coming closer to me and leaned down to my height "oh really then who was it I caught touching herself in my bed" he said teasingly.
I wanted to run and hide never to come out again but why wasn't he mad did he actually like it.
I opened my mouth to speak but nothing came out he only shook his head chuckling to himself "who knew the girl that used to be in our house since she was in diapers was such a slut" he growled.
I stumbled on my feet and he was quick to catch me and pulled me in close "and who knew she had a crush on her best friends dad and her own teacher" he bit his lip looking down at me.
We stared at each other in silence in till he leaned down and pressed his lips to mine in a passionate kiss he started guiding me with his hands to his desk i let out a small squeak as my back hit the desk.
His hands started gliding up and down my body as he whispered dirty phrases to me "i bet you've fantasized about this before slut" he groaned as he started grinding into me.
I bit my lip so hard i thought it would draw blood just to stuffle my moans I could feel his cock throbbing through our clothes.
It was like an unspoken conversation we just started taking off eachothers clothes and admiring eachothers body's "fuck I wanted to fuck you since that sleepover" he muttered as he pushed inside me.
My mouth formed an o shape as he started thrusting inside me "tonowari" I moaned my nails dragging themselves up and down his back making him groan out.
Tonowari picked me up and layed me on the desk so he could get a better angle "f-fuck yn" he growled his hands gripping my shoulders and pulling me onto his further.
My eyes started to roll as I felt myself nearing my climax and I guess he felt the same as his cock started to throb and pulse.
"C-cum in me" I whined wrapping my legs around his waist locking them tightly "yn" he warned "please just cum in me" I moaned loudly as my back arched as I cam.
He yelled out in pleasure and spelt himself inside me as he slowed his thrusts he moved his hands from my shoulders onto the desk caging me down as he stared at me with half lidded eyes.
"Fuck I needed this"

Tumblr media
Neteyam didn't want to leave the forrest. He didn't want to leave his grandmother, his friends, his home. But as the big brother and future Olo'eyktan he knew he had to be the role model. So he put on a brave face, packed his bags, put on his cloak and set off marching behind Lo'ak. Neteyam could hear the soft whimpers of his mother and the cries of the people around him -they had lost their Olo'eyktan, lost their protector, lost a part of themselves- as they watched his family walk down the soil path.
Looking back at High Camp, Neteyam could feel the cold wind hit his cheek and the bitter taste of farewell burnt his throat. Leaving home had never crossed him mind before, but he understood that whoever had kidnapped his siblings was going to come for his father soon.
'You are the big brother, Neteyam. Act like it.' And he did. The mere sight of Tuk tucked neatly under his mother's chin made his eyes water but for the sake of keeping his siblings sane Neteyam blinked the tears away.
Arriving at Awa'atlu was at best the worst thing that had happened to Neteyam by far. The intense stares of the reef Na'vi made his blood run cold; they all looked so different. Their skin remained blue, but so pale compared to his that he felt it resembled Spider's. On the other hand, the men where tall, much taller than Jake, and Neteyam couldn't help but feel small under their judging eyes. Their arms and tails were wider and he guessed that swimming was much easier that way.
Neteyam had brought his hands up in surrender to show that they were no threat but the defensive stance of the Na'vi around him stayed. He missed home already and it hadn't even been a day that they'd been here.
As they came to a halt he could see what he assumed was the Olo'eyktan's son; the people parted idly to make way for him and his friend. Out of respect Neteyam brought his hand to his forehead to sign 'I see you'. The boy stared at him in what seemed to be disgust and never signed back, which made Neteyam's eyebrows raise in surprise.
The sudden noise of water splashing around made every head turn in its direction to show a handful of winged beasts emerging from the sea. Neteyam noted how much longer they were compared to ikrans, how their beaks elongated into a longer one. The men on top of the large animals came to a slow halt as they swiftly jumped off their ride to march up the bank of sand. One of them walked towards the commotion and his stance made Neteyam believe he was the Olo'eyktan. Jake bowed his head and spoke, "I see you, Tonowari."
Then, the crowd parted again to reveal a tall woman littered in tattoos from head to toe, which he assumed was the Tsahik. She was dressed much more elegantly than the others and she bore a large shell unto her forehead. Neteyam heard his father say once more, "I see you, Ronal."
Out the corner of his eye, Neteyam catched the figure of two younger Na'vi. They were both girls, both atop another creature. They gracefully slid off to glide underwater, emerging one after the other. He noticed how one of them had loose curls and a woven shell attached to her hair while the other had a similar hairlstyle; her hair fell into her face to make bangs and the rest laid beautifully down her back. She was slightly taller than the other girl but still shorter than him, her skin was pale, just like the others, but somehow Neteyam couldn't bring himself to feel distaste for it.
The Olo'eyktan's son and his friends, whom he had met earlier, had started poking fun at the way they looked and grabbed their tails harshly at their base. As Neteyam was about to hiss out a warning, the two girls ran over hurriedly. The taller girl spoke first, "Ao'nung, Rotxo. Do not. You are being mean."
The boy who he guessed was Ao'nung replied, "Come on! Don't you find them a bit funny?" The girl grimaced at him before slapping his arm harshly. "You are being unfair. Leave them alone." Ao'nung smirked wide, lifting both hands up in fake surrender. "Alright, y/n." The girl, whomst the name he now knew, grabbed her friend's hand. "Come, Tsireya. Your father is this way."
Eywa. It was but the first day Neteyam had seen the almost overwhelmingly pretty girl and he already felt the need to stick himself to her side whenever she was around. She hadnt even dared to glanced at him however, but the flush of her cheeks and the way she twirled her curls in her hand made Neteyam think that either she was extremely shy ( which was out of the question because of the way she trampled over Ao'nung's attitude ) or she was also somehow interested in him.
You had been assigned, alongside Tsireya, to teach the family how to swim and ride ilu. Today was particularly good -the breeze was gentle and the sun hit your skin- and you were sat on a large boulder with Neteyam and his brother, Lo'ak, and Tsireya. Out of the corner of your eye you catched a glimpse of Lo'ak's flushed face. The boy was very apparently in love with your friend, but you couldn't blame him. Tsireya was the daughter of the Olo'eyktan and the Tsahik, both very beautiful people. The fact that she turned out to be one of the prettiest women in your village didn't impress anyone.
Your right hand was placed gently onto Neteyam's stomach while the other was on his chest. You were simply monitoring his breathing technique, but Neteyam's heart couldn't stop racing. Having your face so close to him that he could feel the warmth of your breath agaisnt his shoulder made him weak, his breathing becoming shallow. ¹"You are breathing too heavy. Slow breaths, like I showed."
His breaths stopped altogether and the back of his hand came to wipe at his forehead. "Sorry- Sorry." You giggled then, short and sweet, and it reminded Neteyam of a certain sweet fruit he often ate back in the forest. The hand that rested onto his chest moved to his back to adjust his posture. "Here. Breathe again, slow." You had stared him right in the eyes and took the short second to note how his eyes were such a deep yellow. Almost like some rare seashells you could find at the bottom of the ocean, like the sunset you were so fond of.
i like my village
You stared at his for no more than ten seconds yet Neteyam had felt it was minutes, and he himself found comfort in your irises. Blue like the sky and the sea that were so powerful and dangerous in themselves, yet yours held a soft glow that reflected your being in a whole. You were kind, too kind, and you never seemed to even have a bad bone in your body. Eywa save him- was he in love with you?
i like you
Neteyam grinned slightly and his brother smirked. Payback material, for sure.
It had been a few days since that encounter, you and Tsireya decided to take the boys swimming. Between those eclipses you had started to spend more time with the Sullys and by some Eywa sent miracle Ao'nung had lowered his bullying to a smidge. Neteyam started to notice more things about you, too. The slight pep in your step whenever you walked and the way the children always seemed to swarm to you when you were around.
It was a very shallow part of the sea, nothing but a few meters deep. You went down first, then Tsireya after, and the boys followed. You had flipped onto your back to look at Neteyam but the way his braids circled his face like a dark halo and the way his eyes shined in amazement had you staring for longer than you anticipated. A few moments later, he turned to you where you had reached the bottom of the ocean, collecting pretty shells and corals you found.
When Neteyam arrived back at the family marui, Neytiri had caught a glance of his hand. "What is this, ma itan?" The boy's cheeks darkned a purple hue and he took a seat next to his mother. Neytiri was curious -Neteyam had never been the type to collect things- and as her son gently dropped the beautiful miss-matched shells onto the mat below them, she grinned. "Oh, Neteyam. Did you say thank you?"
You played in the water for nothing but an hour and swam back to shore altogether. You had approached in after Lo'ak and Tsireya roamed off. "Look, Neteyam! I found these for you. My people usually make clothing out of these, but you can weave them into a necklace if you'd like." You smile widely, extending your hand full of shells to him. "Oh, how nice. They're very pretty, y/n. Thank you."
i like the sea
His head fell forward in embarrassment and he nodded. "Yes, mom. I did- She picked them for me. I didn't know what to say, made a skxawng of myself-" Neytiri paused, her grin spreading even wider. "She? My son is in love?" She dragged the last word out slightly and Neteyam had to hide his face into his hands. Maybe he was in love with you, after all.
i like you
The next day, you had decided to take Neteyam to yours and Tsireya's hidden spot. It wasn't too far from the village but there were little to no chances for anyone else to find it because of how well it was hidden. You had urged Neteyam onto and ilu and rode off so suddenly he thought there was an emergency until he saw the wide smile etched onto your features. He followed you gingerly, and by the time you came to a stop in front of a wall covered in vines and grime, Neteyam was just behind you.
"Look, Nete'. This is my favorite place in the village." You urged your ilu forward slowly to brush aside a patch of vines which revealed a cave -its entrance was smaller but he could see its true width at the end-. Neteyam followed to your left, taking in the bioluminescent insects and sea creatures. He turned to you once more and observed your face longingly.
Your nose was covered in tanhi that shined brightly in the dark, your fangs on display behind those plush lips of yours. When he finished admiring you, you had reached the wider part of the tunnel. Water was in the middle while the sides where made of rock and moss, and Neteyam could see some mats already laid out alongside some baskets of fruit.
You both departed from your ilus to sit upon the mats. You scrunched the water out of you curls and stared at his face to gauge his expression. He seemed in his head- almost like he wasn't listening. You knew he was, though, Neteyam always listened to what you said.
"Me and Tsireya come here often. That is why there is food. Do you like it?" You said, turning to him. He took in how the water reflected the light around it and how your eyes glowed like the moon at its peak. "I do. It's is very beautiful.." Neteyam paused to clear his throat and spoke again, much lighter. "It makes me think of you."
i like my friends
"Really? How?" You asked, with a hint of innocence. Somehow Neteyam wasn't sure if it was feigned or true, but he answer anyway. "I like how peaceful it is. Just like you. And the moonlight hitting the water is pretty.. Just like.. you." You had turned, facing him now. Your bosy leaned forward on its own, Neteyam pulling you in inconsciously. "I like how it makes me feel at ease.. Just like you do."
Neteyam faced you now, both your faces being mere inches away from each other's. "I like it... I- I like you." The corners of your mouth rose slightly and your heart beat so fast you were sure Neteyam could hear it. "I like you too, Nete'." The soft press of his lips against yours made you flush and his hand came to grasp yours. He definitely is in love with you.
i like you.

training as a tsahik wasn't necessarily tiring, but the past few days had been terribly exhausting. it seemed that this week a majority of the metkayina people had been accident prone, injuries needing attention all day. you were returning home at a later time, reducing the time you could spend with your mates. luckily today had been a quiet day in the tsahik marui and ronal didn't hesitate to send you home at a decent time, thankful for your hard work the past few days.
upon entering your marui you smiled spotting jake and tonowari, sitting as close as possible to each other and sharpening their weapons as the day came to a close. it was always so cute watching them be amazing and strong leaders, yet also so loving to one another at the same time. "you're back early, darling" tomowari smiles, stretching out a hand to you. you return the smile and grab it, plopping down onto his lap. "mhmmm, finally a slow day" you breathe, pressing a sweet kiss to his lips. he hums and after retracting, you turn to jake and grab hold of his chin, kissing him softly as well. "how are you feeling?" jake whispers, fingers dancing on your thigh.
"exhausted from the last few days honestly" you lean into tonowari's large build, hands finding jake's free one. "that makes sense... jake and i were thinking we could give you a massage..." "you know, to relax you" jake chimes in, large fingers squeezing your thigh lovingly. "that would be amazing" you smile, moving to lie on your stomach and await their next move. you feel tonowari's hands move to untie your top, being able to identify him by the amount of fingers that graze your back. you allow him to drag the top out from under you, soon feeling jake's hands now removing your loincloth and tossing it to the side. their hands begin to explore your back, both of them taking a side to work on; jake on your left and tonowari on your right.
"there, ma'jake.. that's good" you breathe, body relaxing under their touch. you feel tonowari's hands begin to travel lower, reaching your ass and softly massaging the plush of it. you squirm slightly underneath his touch, body warmth increasing as his hands near your heat, the spot between your legs not having been touched in days due to your late returns home. "wari.." you whine out faintly, hips lifting slightly off of the floor. "something wrong, princess?" jake asks, his hands now traveling to meet tonowari's. "need you both.." you whine more, wiggling your ass around as if to beg. "i guess we should give the girl what she wants, don't you think?" you can hear the smirk in tonowari's voice as he speaks, the same smirk lacing jake's as he responds. "i guess that's only fair, she deserves it" it drove you crazy when they spoke as though you weren't right below them, a shiver making it's way down your spine.
you were flipped onto your back by tonowari, breath slightly quivering in anticipation. jake's hands are then spreading your legs, pushing them as wide as they can go. you knew what this meant... he only ever pushed your legs that far if both men were going to go in on you at the same time. the whine that left your mouth was pathetic as you watched them both get between your legs, both lying on their stomachs and ogling at your glistening pussy. "so pretty..." jake bites his lip as his index fingers gathers your wetness, tonowari lightly kissing along his jaw. jake hums in response as he turns to capture tonowari's lips in a heated kiss, both men turned on by their mate's neediness. soft purrs and whines are shared as they kiss, tongues dancing together. if even possible, more wetness appears from the show in front of you.
a cocky chuckle fills your ears as they pull away from each other, tonowari diving in to suck your clit instantaneously. you let out a gasp at the action, hands digging into tonowari's curls. it wasn't a second later and jake had joined him, flicking your clit with the tip of his tongue when it was released from tonowari's lips. "fuck!" you mewled above them, right hand moving to jake's head and pressing him further into you. "his tongue feels good, doesn't it, baby?" tonowari taunts before licking at your aching hole, jake moving to join him. your head rolls back at sensation, tongues delving into your hole and colliding as they devour you passionately. jake tsks at you, bringing a hand up to tilt your chin downwards.
"don't you dare look away" he murmurs, eyes locking with yours as his tongue grazes tonowari's, saliva dripping from your pussy as the two men eat you out. you nod and obey his command, staring down at your mates who are getting covered by your slick. your hips are bucking against their tongues at a desperate speed, knot in your stomach snapping before you can even warn the two men. "oh fuck-" you squeal as your legs shake, cum gushing from you and onto their tongues. tonowari's deep chuckle is heard first as he pulls away, allowing jake to lap at your wetness for a few more seconds. he leans over you, gliding his tongue across your lips. "such a good girl... what do you want next?" he whispers as jake emerges beside him, his hand trailing down to flick one of your nipples. you mewl and look between jake and tonowari, trying to form an idea in your head. "i want- i want to watch you pleasure each other... with your hands" you state, moving to sit up. jake smirks and ushers tonowari over to the space in front of where you sit, standing to their full heights in front of you.
jake's hands reach to untie tonowari's loincloth as tonowari repeats the actions, both of their cocks springing out in an instant. they were similar in length, but tonowari's girth was unmatched. jake's hand wrapped around him the second it was possible, slowly stroking and pulling a groan from tonowari's lips. "jake-" he breathes as he reaches for jake's waiting cock, jake's eyes rolling back slightly at the sensation. "god you're fucking hot" jake moans as he eyes tonowari up, the pace of his hand picking up as precum drips over his hand. "you like that, huh wari?" tonowari nods in response, slight whines escaping as he jerks the dark blue cock rapidly now, jake's free hand reaching for his shoulder. "fucking hell" he grips the shoulder tight, tonowari's head now dropping to rest on jake's shoulder. "so good at this, such a strong hand..." tonowari coos, eyes locking with yours as you sit on the floor of the marui. "how's this, yawne? you like watching us?" you nod, completely mesmerized by the motions of their hands and the noises leaving them both. "should we save our cum for our girl, wari? i bet she's gonna want it" jake sighs out as he slows his movements on tonowari's cock. "of course she'll want it, always such a slut for cum".
their hands release each other before they lean in to whisper something to one another, your clueless eyes trying to decipher their body language. once tonowari lies flat on his back you catch on immediately, moving to straddle him. "always know what to do" jake speaks as he towers over you, hand running into your braids and getting a firm hold. you steady yourself as you line tonowari up with your entrance, slowly sinking down onto him. your eyes roll to the back of your head at the stretch, fully engulfing him now. "that's it, that's it..." he moans, large hands holding the round of your ass to aid you in bouncing on his length. you begin to ride him, pussy slamming down onto him and squelching in the process. once you get a rhythm you turn to where jake is beside you, opening your mouth to allow his cock to sink in. he uses your hair to angle your head up, pushing his length all the way in until his tip hits the back of your throat. you moan around him as tonowari abuses your cunt, his girth getting sucked in each time you move back down.
"look at you... taking both of us at once" tonowari groans from beneath you, his mouth agape as you milk his cock. "she's so cock drunk" jake deeply chuckles before he lets out a moan, continuously thrusting his cock into your mouth and listening to your slight choking. you couldn't help but whine around jake at the pure ecstasy you felt as your mates used you. "feeling good, sevin? you want my cum? want me to pump you full and get you pregnant? hm?" tonowari spanks you after he speaks, your nod and whimper pathetically desperate. "tell him, babygirl" jake yanks you off of his cock by your hair, allowing you to answer. "yes please, yes wari! i want you to breed me!" you mewl, bouncing faster than you had been before. jake brings you back to his cock, matching his thrusts to your bouncing. "well i'm gonna give you it any minute, i know jake's ready to give you his cum too" he moans out as his one hand reaches for your clit, rubbing it vigorously as all 3 of you reach your peaks.
jake cums first, grip on your hair tight as his loads fills your mouth. at the feeling of the saltiness spilling down your throat you begin to quiver, coating tonowari's shaft in your second orgasm. at the clench of your walls tonowari fills you up, cock throbbing inside of you. you move off of jake and swallow, giving him a shy smile as you catch your breath. jake strokes your cheek with his thumb before lying beside tonowari, kissing his head as he comes down from the high.
"i'm glad i came home early today" you giggle, slowly moving off of tonowari and lying in between them both. "we most definitely are too" jake smirks, rubbing your thigh lovingly as tonowari does the same to your other thigh. "definitely glad" tonowari adds in, smiling at jake over you. the men adored you, and you adored them.

Torture. That's the only word Miles could use to describe what he was feeling as they flew away. Knowing you were suffering alone with your clan because of him. Because of his choices and how much he hurt you and your people. They didn't have time to put their clothes back on before they were forced to leave. They weren't even allowed to go back to their marui before being chased off, for lack of better words. Only two others knew what he was feeling but they were also bonded to eachother. So it was dulled just a bit. But Miles felt the full force of the pain. Every ounce of it was deserved in his eyes. The moment their ikrans landed at Bridgehead General Ardmore was there waiting.
"Did you succeed in your mission?" She asked Miles who grunted.
"No. They found out a couple of days ago the morning after we became 'adults' in their eyes." Miles says and Ardmore sighs.
"Well, I need a full report. Everything that happened while you and your squad were there. I want it on my desk first thing in the morning." She says and promptly leaves. Miles keeps his back straight and his face stoic until they reach their barracks. The moment he's in his private room he sinks to the floor and allows his tears to fall down his cheeks. They're never ending and after a while very painful. Eventually, Lyle and Mansk become worried for their friend and sneak into his room. Where they find him in the same position he had been hunched in for 10 hours.
After weeks of putting on facades and bottling up emotions infront of Ardmore all of Miles' squad was ready to blow. Miles, Lyle, and Mansk being the worst since they had to spend the most time around that wretched woman. But even if they got away from the RDA the Metkayina wouldn't take them back. Not after their deception.
"You are with child." Ronal said and your shoulders slumped. It had been a few weeks since everything happened and Miles was forced to leave. You had hoped you didn't get pregnant from the one night the two of you shared, but Eywa had other plans.
"It will be okay (Y/n). Tonowari and I are here to help you along the way." Ronal said and you shook your head.
"It is disgraceful. Baring the child of that demon." You tell her but Ronal shakes her head.
"They had everyone deceived. We all believed they had changed, but demons are deceptive. They find ways to trick the innocent into believing their lies." Ronal says but you bring your knees to your chest and wrap your arms around them. "Tonowari is worried about you. You do not eat with the clan anymore and you have distanced yourself from us."
"I do not want to see the looks of pity. Especially now that I am growing life within me." You tell her and her face falls. You the same woman who had manhandled her way into her heart as a trusted friend and confidant were breaking. Breaking infront of her very eyes and there was nothing she could do to help or stop it. There was only one who could and he was gone.
"They are not looks of pity. They are empathizing the best they can." Ronal tried to sway your view but it was in vain. You received what is normally perceived as a good sign of pairing, and became pregnant during your first time with your mate.
"Thank you for your help. I must return to my duties." You say as you get up but you bump right into your brother. "Sorry Tonowari. I did not see you." You say as you try to step around him but he stops you by sticking his arm out and blocking your path.
"You will not be returning to your duties, sister. Ronal will be teaching the children to connect with Eywa, and you will take over here. Tending to the sick and wounded and teaching Tsireya." Tonowari says and you look between the two of them dumbfounded.
"So I am unallowed to teach the children?" You ask him and he sighs.
"You are not in the right state of mind to be around the children, and soon you will not be in the right state of physical health. This will be the easier option." Tonowari says and you scoff as tears roll down your cheeks.
"Permission to be dismissed to my marui?" You ask him and he looks down swallowing whatever he was going to say as he steps out of your way. You're quick to retreat to your home but you pass by the marui's Miles and his people occupied. Tirea'eylan was curled up on one of the mats with two necklaces in hand. The ones she had woven for Lyle and Mansk before they mated and planned to give to them when she discovered she was bearing one of their children.
"Mawey, Eya. Mawey." You finally say when you hear her sniffles and cries. "Let us go to my marui. It will do no good to hang onto their possessions." You try to convince her but she remains planted. So you sit down behind her and rub her arm.
"Did you discover if you were right?" She asks when she finally looks up at you. Your ears fall back in shame and your gaze drops to the floor.
"I am with child." You tell her and she sits up and pulls you into a warm embrace.
"I am here for you, as you are here for me. I am sorry your mate is not here to help you through this." She says and you bury your face in her neck and she allowed you the same courtesy you allowed her. To let out those sad and pained emotions so they wouldn't bottle up and explode. Because she knew out of everyone in the clan that she knew what you were going through. Or so she thought until a knock on the entryway resounded through the marui. You both look up and find Neytiri standing in the doorway.
"How are the two of you feeling?" Neytiri asks.
"It is not good Neytiri." Is all Tirea'eylan is able to say. She looks at you to deliver the news.
"I'm with child." You wailed as you finally allowed the weight of the situation to crash into you, the way storm season waves would. Unforgiving, strong, unpleasant, and unwelcome. Neytiri joins the hug with you and Eya.
"I understand what you are going through, both of you." Neytiri says. "Let's go to your marui. You must rest." She ushers the both of you up and out of the empty residence. You barely make it back to your home before you lay down and fall asleep.
Four Months. It had been four months of Miles not being able to see you, hold you, or comfort you. Jake had been able to pull off an escape from Hells Gate paralyzed, but Miles and his squad were too terrified to try anything. By this point, they were all ticking time bombs just waiting for the wrong drop of a hat. One wrong thing said or done by any of the sky people... When he started referring to them as sky people he wasn't sure. But coworkers, superiors, non of it sounded right. They shouldn't be here. As in on Pandora. They weren't welcome and he knew this and so did his squad. Their hatred at the beginning of their return had slowly built up, but now it was rapidly building. Constantly being inside Bridgehead and not being able to connect with their outside environment, stacked on top of the way the General was treating them was creating a very tense atmosphere.
"I'm giving your squad one last chance to kill Sully. We're going to attack their island." Ardmore said and Miles' mood dropped immediately. Lyle and Mansk tensed behind him and the General pursed her lips.
"Do you think I'm stupid Colonel? I know you and your squad are teetering on the edge of being like those savages out there." Ardmore says and Miles' jaw tensed.
"They aren't savages. This is their way of life and you are disturbing it." Miles says and Ardmore's eyebrow raised.
"So that's what this is about... You got yourself a girlfriend, didn't you? Well, she is just like them. Feral and dangerous." The General spits out and Miles snaps. He lunges forward and tackles the woman in the skel suit. She starts to fight back but she doesn't get far when Miles lunges for her unprotected throat. Before anyone can stop him he's ripped her throat out with his teeth. She makes horrendous gurgling noises for a moment before she goes completely slack. No noises, no movement, and her eyes were void of any life. Lyle and Mansk act quickly by killing the other people in the room before they could retaliate. When they approach their friend he had long since let the disgusting-tasting flesh fall from his mouth.
"Boss we gotta go. Like now." Lyle says and he starts pulling Miles up to his feet to follow them out. Mansk presses his neck com and calls the others to get outside to the ikrans and to take off ASAP. No alarm had been sounded yet, but they knew it was only a matter of time. Miles ducked into a communications room that was empty due to the time of day. He tubed into old com stations from his original time and pressed record.
"If anyone out there picks up on this it's a distress signal. We are makin' a run for it now, but there's no tellin' how much time we've got. If you come across me and my squad we are not here to kill. Repeat. We are not here to kill. I'll explain everything." Miles says and sends out the distress call. After that he quickly erases the log and the back up log and the three of them are running out of Bridgehead as fast as they can. They stop at a water fountain to allow Miles to wash out his mouth and wash off his face. He does so with a quickness and that's when the alarms started to blare. RDA members started catching up to them with their guns drawn, but the three of them have longer legs and better stamina. So they run. They run to the ikran pin and take off on their mounts. As they flew away the base started to rumble lowly and everyone in the group turned to watch. The last ikran in the pin was mounted and Z-Dog flew as fast as she could to catch up to the others.
"Z-Dog what the hell did you do?!" Mansk asked in alarm, but the woman just shot him a mischievous smirk.
"Pays to pay attention to the fancy buttons in the General's office." Z-Dog answers vaguely enough to not admit what she did, but to also hint that she caused it. The city had crumbled and was up in flames, and from what the group could see there were no survivors.
At four months you started to show. It was taking a toll on your spirit. Not being able to be near your mate, and worse having a disgraced mate. You had taken over Tsireya's healing training and had even started helping Kiri as well. She was very gifted with healing and her connection to Eywa was very strong. A fact that your niece confided in you about.
"Her connection... It is like nothing I have ever seen." Tsireya signs as the two of you watch Kiri dance with the glowing squids.
"Yes. She glows when she interacts with our Great Mother." You sign back and Tsireya nods with a smile.
Meanwhile on the surface, Jake is talking in hushed tones to Norm who video-called him over a disturbing find.
"Okay Norm... Go over it again but slower so I can understand what you're saying." Jake says and Norm takes a deep breath.
"We received a distress call from Quaritch. Here I'll send it to you so it's easier to understand." Norm says and Jake hears the sounds of the buttons being tapped then a voice recording popped up.
"If anyone out there picks up on this it's a distress signal. We are makin' a run for it now, but there's no tellin' how much time we've got. If you come across me and my squad we are not here to kill. Repeat. We are not here to kill. I'll explain everything." Jake hears Quaritch say and it ends there.
"There's one more thing Jake." Norm says and Jake looks back over at his friend. "The signal for the RDA's base... It's gone. Like completely." Jake's ears shoot up in surprise.
"What? How can it just be gone? Base's that big don't just stop transmitting their location beacon." Jake argues but Norm shakes his head.
"Well, this one did. It stopped transmitting two days ago. We've been monitoring it to make sure they weren't trying to lure you or us in, but it hasn't come back on." Norm says and Jake gets up and starts pacing.
"I'll talk to Tonowari and see what he wants us to do. Neytiri and I can scout it if he allows it." Jake says and Norm nods.
"Alright. I've already told Tarsem about it and he has patrols watching for them. If they come near we'll let you know." Norm says and Jake shakes his head.
"They don't know the forest that well, but they do know the sea. They'll probably try to come out here... And with it being two days since-" Jake looks up panicked. "You're coming with me we've got to go. We have to talk to Tonowari now!" Jake says as he picks up his tablet and runs out searching for his Olo'eyktan. It isn't too hard to find him since he's enjoying watching his mate teach the children. Jake jogs up to him and taps his arm.
"JakeSulí. Is something wrong?" Tonowari asks him because of his panicked state.
"I'm not sure yet, but right now it's looking like something might happen soon. If you'll come and let Norm and I fill you in on the situation?" Jake asks him and Tonowari motions for the shorter male to lead the way. The moment Jake walks into Tonowari's marui he props his tablet up facing the two of them.
"What is so urgent?" Tonowari asks and Norm repeats what he told Jake and Jake plays the voice recording. "So Miles has officially separated from the sky people?"
"We aren't sure, but it's been two days of radio silence from them and their base. I wanted to know if you wanted Neytiri and me to go and check out the human base. See if they're just trying to lure us in, or if you want us to wait to see if Miles pops up here?" Tonowari seems to think for a moment.
"Even if they do show up here we will not beable to take his word again. I want you to go and check their base and see if it is truly gone or not. To prove that they speak the truth." Tonowari says and Jake nods. "Thank you for telling us Norm." The video-call cuts off and Jake picks up his tablet.
"We'll go immediately, but we'll keep it quiet. I don't want to get (Y/n)'s hopes up about her mate." Jake says and Tonowari nods.
"Thank you. I shall keep this between myself and Ronal until you or they return." Tonowari says and the two men go their separate ways. Jake finds Neytiri and tells her about everything and they're quick to tell Neteyam to tell you that they're going on a romantic getaway. They're gone from the island within the hour hoping to be back within a few days to beable to support or contest Miles' story.
When you Tsireya and Kiri finished collecting healing items and clams from the depths, Neteyam intercepts you on the pathways.
"Mom and Dad went on a getaway and asked me to let you know." Neteyam says and you nod.
"Alright. Thank you for telling me Neteyam." You tell the young boy who nods and runs off. It was a common occurrence for you to watch over their children while they were away. Spider caught up to you on the rope bridges and follows you back to your marui.
"Are you feeling okay? Do you need anything? Are you hungry?" Spider asks rapid questions and you turn to him with a smile.
"I am alright. I ate earlier and have everything I need." You tell him as you grab a few of your personal items to stay in Jake's marui until they return. "You do not need to take care of me, Spider." You tell him.
"That's my sibling in there. Of course I'm going to take care of you. Besides you're like my Mom too." He tells you and your heart melts a little. You take a deep breath and kneel down infront of him to be eye level.
"If you would like I want you to be my son, and I have no doubt in my mind that you will be a good big brother." You tell him and he slithered into your arms and hugged you. You return it and the feeling of familial love makes itself known to you. "We can make you my official child through Tsahík if you would like?"
"I would love that... Mom." He says and the two of you depart your marui for Jake and Neytiri's.
They smelled it before they saw it. The undeniable smell of a fire that had burnt out hours ago. The smell of death. When they were finally able to see it, their eyes held the carnage. The entire human base was destroyed and laying in a crumbled heap. They landed near the remains of the base and Jake grabbed his tablet from Bob. He called Norm who answered almost immediately.
"Norm... It's absolutely destroyed." Jake said as he turned the table around so Norm could see. They moved closer to Bridgehead taking in the scene before them.
"Oh my god. Do you think Quaritch had something to do with it?" Norm asked Jake.
"He might've, but this seems too impulsive for it to have been him." Jake says and Neytiri turns to Jake.
"Should we search for them?" She asks her mate who shakes his head.
"No. Humans could still be nearby and I don't want to risk it anymore than we already have." Jake says and goes back to Bob. Jake and Neytiri fly into the air and Jake takes a video of Bridgehead's remains. The flight back to Awa'atlu will easily take a couple of days but there are uninhabited islands they can stop on to rest. As eclipse started to fall Jake motioned to one of the uninhabited islands and he and Neytiri landed. Jake nearly shits himself when an ikran approaches them from the brush, but he calms down when he recognizes it. It was All-Star, Z-Dogs ikran.
"Hey girl. Is your rider near?" Jake asks her as though she would beable to vocally answer him. Soon more ikrans started joining them, all of them belonging to Miles and his people.
"Sully?" They hear Lyle ask and find him perched in the trees.
"Lyle? Did you all survive whatever happened to Bridgehead?" Jake asks him and Lyle nods.
"Yeah, but Z is pretty banged up. She was the last out. Blew up the whole damn base." Lyle says and Jake laughs.
"So you did betray the RDA?" Jake asks him and Lyle nods.
"The Colonel tore Ardmore's throat out... Literally. It's what kickstarted all of it." Lyle tells the two Na'vi who look up at him in awe. "How's Eya?" Lyle asks and Jake's face falls.
"She's depressed. Her mates betrayed her and she had no choice but to accept she would be alone." Jake says and Lyle looks down sadly.
"The others are a little further inland if you wanna come and talk?" Lyle says and Jake looks at Neytiri. The two have the infamous mated eye conversation and they both agree to talk to the group. They follow Lyle and when they breach the trees Miles voice cuts through the silence.
"What got the ikrans riled up?" Miles asks when he spots Lyle, but freezes when Jake and Neytiri appear in the clearing. "How did you find us?"
"We weren't looking for you. We were just stopping here for the night to rest so we can continue our journey back to Awa'atlu tomorrow." Jake says and Miles crosses his arms with a huff. "What happened to Bridgehead?" Miles tenses up and inhales deeply.
"I snapped." Miles says and Ja scoffs.
"We all did. Being in that confined space and the way they talked about the natives just pushed us a bit too far into it." Ja says and a leg hangs down from a tree.
"I blew it up. As soon as I heard Lyle and Mansk give the order to run I booked it for Ardmore's office and hit the self-destruct sequence. Barely escaped the implosion." Z-Dog says and Neytiri kneels next to the woman to assess her wounds. "It's just a few grazes. Nothin' major."
"So... Are you coming back to Awa'atlu?" Jake asks them.
"After what we did? They wouldn't accept us. Not again." Miles says and Jake shakes his head.
"Four days ago Norm found out he couldn't track Bridgehead anymore. The location beacon was just gone. Two days ago he called me to tell me about it and Tonowari sent us to see if it was just a ruse or if it was actually gone." Jake told Miles who sat down and visibly slumped.
"You know what I mean by I can't go back. She would have a better chance of moving on if I didn't go back." Miles says and Jake sighs.
"That's not how Na'vi mating works and you know that. She needs you." Jake says and Neytiri tries to control the thrashing of her tail.
"How's Eya?" Mansk asks and Jake sighs.
"I told Lyle already but she's depressed being faced with the reality that she's alone for the rest of her life." Jake says. "She has it easier than (Y/n) right now." He adds and Miles' ears perk forward in interest.
"What do ya mean by that Sully?" Miles asks and Jake casts a look and Neytiri who nods her head.
"She's pregnant." Jake says and Miles is on his feet in the blink of an eye.
"What?" Miles asks hurriedly.
"She found out a few weeks after you left." Jake says and Miles starts pacing. Panic. He knew he needed to return for you and Spider and now he had a new child coming to the world. Then a thought smacks him in the face. You were already atleast 4 months along.
"She's already almost halfway through her pregnancy." Miles says quietly and Jake notices the look of a man about to run.
"Quaritch do-" He's cut off by Miles.
"It's Miles. My name is Miles. I am NOT Quaritch. That man was vile and disgustin'... You of all people should know that." Miles says as he starts grabbing a few things.
"Alright Miles. Don't run back yet. We are going to head out in the morning and you guys can travel back with us so we ca-" He doesn't get to finish his words before Miles is running past him to get to his ikran. "Mike's wait! It's dark and a Toruk could be roaming the skies or something!"
"It doesn't matter. I've gotta get back to her. She's carrying my child and I've been absent for months!" Miles says hurriedly. He says it so fast that he doesn't realize that he was speaking in Na'vi and not English anymore. So Jake makes the switch as well subconsciously, neither noticing the change.
"We need to use our heads here. We need to approach this in a smart way." Jake tries to convince the man but he just continues to tie stuff onto his ikran, Cupcake.
"I'm either goin' back with ya now or I'm goin' alone. I need to let her know that I am here for her and our family now." Miles says and Jake presses his neck com.
"Miles is going back tonight and I'm going with him. The rest of you can follow tomorrow during daylight." Jake says and Neytiri responds immediately.
"We will join you tomorrow. I want to dress Z's wounds and allow everyone to rest before we depart." Neytiri says and Jake gives an affirmative. He jumps onto Bob and the two Na'vi men take to the skies.
You stand in the shallows with Tuk as you introduce her to a young ilu, that she would beable to control. This ilu had been bred for her in mind specifically. Most Metkayina children bond with their ilu when they are both still young but she never got that chance. You adjusted her position and she happily brought her tswin forward and made the bond. She took a few moments to take in the feelings of her ilu. Finally she took a deep breath and the two of them rushed away. All of the Sully children were watching with bated breath with Spider, Tsireya, and Ao'nung watching anxiously. A few moments later Tuk and her ilu rushed by your group under the water. Neteyam began cheering his youngest sister on with everyone joining in soon after. Rotxo joined the group and his shoulders slumped.
"You started without me!" He whined and Lo'ak nudged his side.
"You were taking too long bro! She was excited and so were we." Lo'ak says and Rotxo craned his neck to try and catch a glimpse of the young Na'vi. She finally resurfaced and rejoined the group which caused a small celebration to break out. Neteyam picked Tuk up in a hug and happily spins her in his arms. You watch them fondly and your hand absent-mindedly runs over your growing stomach. The horn sounded to signal the return of inhabitants. The kids perk up because the only people that were off the island were their parents.
"I wanna show Mom and Dad that I can ride an ilu now!" Tuk says and you all call your mounts to go greet their parent's return. You were the last to dismount your tsurak and walked onto the small outcropping where many islanders had gathered. The kids pushed through the crowd to get to their parents and you followed behind them. The people split to allow you to walk through. As soon as you broke through the front of the group you found Tonowari and Ronal facing off with Jake and unexpectedly Miles. Your ears pinned back and tears welled in your eyes.
"Miles?" You ask with a voice thick with emotion.
"(Y/n)." He says with relief and looks to your brother. Tonowari turns to you and holds out his hand which you take and he brings you to stand infront of him.
"(Y/n), Jake received words a few days ago that Miles turned his back on the sky people. I sent him and Neytiri to investigate claims that their base was gone. Jake has confirmed that he saw the remains with his own eyes and that Miles and his people have dedicated themselves to our people." Tonowari says and you keep looking back and forth between Jake and Tonowari. Waiting for one of them to give you a signal to wake up but it doesn't come. You finally look Miles in his eyes. His are earnest and pleading and yours are just pleading. Pleading for what they're saying to be true.
"Is this true?" You ask your mate as you approach him slowly. "Please tell me they speak the truth." You plead and he nods.
"We left. All of us left the sky people. Destroyed everything they had." He says with a voice thick with emotion. You feel yourself break and you close the distance between the two of you. His hands immediately reach out and cup your cheeks, while yours hold his hands. He leans down and rests his forehead against yours and both of you take deep breaths. The air felt fresher for both of you and he took a step back. He looked you up and down and brought his hands to your belly. He continues to stare at your belly in awe. Sure he had watched the progression of Paz's pregnancy, but she was just a fuck buddy. Someone he could let off some steam with and on, but this was different. You are his mate, his wife, the woman he loves with his entire being. Now you were carrying his child, his.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." He finally says as he gains the courage to look into your eyes. Neither of you is aware that Tonowari and Jake had ushered everyone away and back to daily life. All that mattered at this moment was the two of you.
"I am just happy that you returned. Spider has been helping how he can, but I believe he has been stressing himself too much." You tell Miles who smiles and chuckles through the tears.
"That's my boy. Very caring and loving." Miles says and you bring your hands to Miles' cheeks.
"He misses you, yawne. He was so upset when he found out what you and your people were up to, but you are his father." You tell him and he takes your hands in his.
"I'm back. I'm back and I'm not going anywhere. We can be a family again." Miles says and you bring Miles' hand back down to your belly. As his hand rests against your baby bump he feels all of his sadness drain away. The baby is still too small to kick or move, but knowing they're in there. Knowing they exist and will join the world soon brings both of you joy.
"Now that you are back you can move in with Spider and I. A new start for our family." You say and Miles nods.
"I'd like that alot." Miles says and you lead him through the village and to your marui. The moment you walk in you hear several sets of feet approaching your home. Soon Spider peaks around the corner with Neteyam and Lo'ak right behind him.
"Hey Mom." Spider says and he looks at his dad. "Dad." When the word left his mouth Miles dropped to one knee and and opened his arms. Spider accepted the offer of a hug and you watched with a small smile. You look at the two other boys in your home and smile inviting at them.
"Is Jake making food for your family tonight or is Neytiri home now?" You ask the boys and Neteyam seems reluctant to answer.
"Dad said Mom wouldn't be home until late tonight or early tomorrow, and he doesn't know how to cook." Lo'ak finally says and Spider sheepishly looks at you.
"I was going to see if it would be alright if we invited them over for third meal?" Spider asks and you pat his shoulder.
"That is alright with me. Go tell Jake and the rest of your friends to come and I will prepare third meal." You tell him and the three of them run off. You shuffle over to the fish you and Spider had caught for tonight and start preparing it. Miles joins you and allows his tail to wrap around your calf as you both crouch while preparing the fish.
"You're the best thing to happen to me you know that right?" Miles asks and you look up at him.
"I fully believe the Great Mother heard my pleas for a mate and sent me you. Our child will come into this world with the best father they could ask for." You say and his cheeks dust indigo.
"And the best mother." He rebuttals and you lean over a plant a peck on his cheek. "You missed." He says and you become confused.

"I was trying to kiss your cheek." You say and he laughs while shaking his head. Then he leans over to you and his lips meet yours.
5 months later Jake and his people with the Omatikaya have reported no sighting of any returning humans. You lay sleeping peacefully with Miles holding you and Spider. It was silent except for the sounds of the turbulent sea slapping against the walkways. Jake was currently talking to Norm about bringing a habitat for Spider to live in. You jolt up as pain racks through your body. You reach over and shake Miles awake and he woke up easily.
"Miles it is time. They are coming." You tell him and Spider takes off out of the marui to get Ronal. Miles supports your weight as you start to struggle to hold yourself up.
"Deep breaths baby." He says and starts helping you through breathing exercises.
"It is the middle of storm season. I cannot birth our child the way they are traditionally born!" You say through sobs and Miles sets his forehead against the side of your head.
"It'll be okay. Ronal will be here soon and she'll tell us what we need to do." Miles says and you continue to breathe through the pain. After a few more minutes of this Spider runs in with Ronal and Tonowari shortly behind him. Ronal immediately kneels infront of you and checks how far you are into labor.
"Tonowari the sea... It is storm season we cannot take her into the water." Ronal says but Tonowari shakes his head.
"The shallows. We can get her there where she can bring her child into the world." Tonowari says and Miles stands up and picks you up from the ground. The group quickly makes their way to the shallows and you're lowered into the water. Miles sits behind you holding you in his arms and Ronal once again kneels infront of you.
"I need you to push, (Y/n)." Ronal says and Tonowari takes your free hand in his. You take a few deep breaths and push. Both Tonowari and Miles don't even flinch when you squeeze their hands with all your might. You stop pushing and fall back against Miles breathing hard.
"It's alright baby. Take a breather for a minute." Miles says and bring the hand that was under the water to your forehead. You sigh when his cold hand makes contact with your skin. Tonowari cocks his head to the side wondering what he was doing.
"It's a common Earth practice for the woman's mate to provide comfort for her by cooling her skin down during childbirth." Miles says and Tonowari's eyes soften. He realizes the love this Na'vi holds for you and sees him in a different light. Ronal tells you to push again and you do so. Suddenly it feels as though a weight was lifted from your back and Ronal gestures for Miles to come to her. He does and Tonowari takes his place by supporting your weight. After a moment your baby was lifted from the water and placed in your mates arms.
"A healthy baby girl." Ronal says and you smile as Miles kneels next to you with your girl in his arms. Her eyes are closed when she's finally lowered into your arms and your breath hitches in your throat. She's a teal green with darker blue stripes and the usual thicker arms and tail. Miles passes her to you and her eyes open revealing your mates' beautiful amber eyes. You look at Miles and both of you have tears of happiness rolling down your cheeks.
"What do you wish to name her, yawne?" You ask him and he takes a deep breath.
"When I was working with the sky people, we killed a tulkun... What was her name?" Miles asks and Ronal looks up with sadness and surprise in her eyes.
"Her name was R'oa... She was my spirit sister." Your sister says and Miles nods.
"What about R'oa?" Miles asks and you nod and smile as you look down at your daughter.
"R'oa te Netzí(made this up because Tonowari's family doesn't have a registered family name... yet) (Y/n)'ite." You say and Miles melts into your side holding you and your baby.

“You must breathe from here,” Tonowari places one hand on his stomach, puffing out his chest as he inhales and straightens out his back, showing you where you must focus your energy. “Let your mind go clear and your heart rest.” You’ve been with Tonowari for the past few hours, learning about all the different aspects about becoming Metkayina from fishing to swimming. You were anxious in the beginning because you were worried that your fondness for Tonowari would be shown through your actions but so far it’s been going well, you’ve been able to keep your emotions under control.
You’ve been trying your best to replicate the breathing technique he’s displaying but for some reason you just can’t get it right, you keep breathing from your lungs instead of your diaphragm and it’s frustrating because you don’t want to embarrass yourself in front of him. When Tonowari notices your struggle he decides to help you, like any good karyu would. “From here, y/n.” His low tone vibrates through the air while pressing his large, callous hand on your abdomen, making a shiver run down your spine. You weren’t expecting him to touch your stomach and you most certainly didn’t expect his hand to be inches away from the waistband of your tewng. When you think things can’t get anymore nerve wracking, you feel his other hand make contact with your chest, mindlessly resting his hand right above your cleavage. “Your heartbeat is fast, try to focus.”
“Sorry.” You mutter out while looking down at the sand beneath you to avoid his gaze as a purple hue spreads across your cheeks from embarrassment. How can you possibly focus on breathing when you have this beautiful man hunched over your frame and looking down at you with a powerful gaze? As Tonowari instructs you to breathe in and out, inhale deeply and exhale slowly, your eyes wander his figure, watching the rise and fall of his broad chest that was partially covered with intricate tattoos. “Am I doing better now?” You ask timidly, hoping you’re doing the right thing and not making the same mistakes you were earlier.
“Much better, I think it’s time we move on to your next lesson.”
You and Tonowari have moved to the shallow end of the water so he can teach you how to ride the Marine Na’vi’s mode of transportation. The Olo’eyktan begins to whoop and click his tongue, drawing the attention of one of the many animals in the surrounding area. “This is an ilu, you must ride this in order to go to different places within the reef.” As Tonowari explains what to do, you mount the ilu, making sure you feel comfortable before reaching behind your back and grabbing your kuru. “Make the bond gently.” He instructs while holding the ilu’s kuru at an angle. You lean your hand forward, allowing your tendrils to connect with the ilu, causing a soft crackle sound to fill the air as tsaheylu forms. When the bond is successful the ilu begins to squirm underneath you as their pupils grow wide from your emotions intertwining with theirs.
“Feel her breath, feel her strength.” You take a deep breath while closing your eyes, allowing your mind to become one with the sea creature. “Hold here.” He places his hand on the handle of the ilu’s saddle and you copy his actions, wrapping your hand around the brown leather material. “Your posture is incorrect, it must be strong when you dive.” Tonowari was going to talk you through getting into the correct position but since his hands were free with nothing to do —and he wanted another excuse to feel your skin— he decides to put you in the correct placement.
His right hand comes across your lower back while his left hand grips your thigh before scooting you up on the seat of the saddle. “Now remember, when you dive back in, good position. Very important.” He wanted to emphasize his words because he doesn’t want you to fall off and hurt yourself. You nod your head in response, taking in his words before you command the ilu to dive into water. The feeling of riding an ilu was much different than anything you’ve experienced, feeling its body move up and down to generate momentum and propels through the water is something you’ll definitely have to get accustomed to. After riding for a few minutes you start getting the hang of it, when you feel confident in your stance you click your tongue, causing the ilu to leap out the water and dive back in.
As Tonowari watches from the shallow end, he nods happily, proud that you got the hang of it so quickly. He wasn’t expecting you to figure out how to properly ride so soon in your lesson since you weren’t used to the reef and doing these types of activities in the water but you’ve proved him wrong. After a while of riding Tonowari motions to get you to come back in since it’s almost time for your son and his children to come home from school. You come back to the shore, gently breaking the bond with your ilu and bringing your leg from over the animal’s body and walk back towards land.
Since Tonowari ends your lesson for the day, both of you spend the next hour or so walking around the village exchanging stories about each other’s clan, telling each other numerous amounts of information. The two of you were soaking up everything the other was saying, wanting to learn more about each other’s culture. You begin to enlighten him on everything you know about the Omatikaya, from the perspective of being a clan member and as a human who was also a scientist. The topic changes from the different flora and fauna to how the clan gathers together to add their unique designs to the mother loom that’s given a place of honor in the common area of Hometree.
While you’re getting consumed into your sweet memories of the forest you don’t even realize you were only a few feet away from your kelku. In your mind you see this as a perfect opportunity to show Tonowari some memorabilia of your time with the clan. You invite him into your marui and begin showing him blankets you weaved, jewelry you’ve crafted, and a few more pieces you think he would enjoy seeing. As Tonowari listens to your stories and sees the bright smile that adorns your face he begins to wonder why you left the forest. From his perspective it seems like you had a wonderful time when you lived among the Omatikaya so he’s curious as to what pushed you into fleeing. His desire to know what happened in the forest that led you here is starting to get the best of him, the question is echoing in his mind and he knows it won’t end until he properly asks.
“y/n, I must ask. If the forest was filled with such fond memories, why did you leave?” As the words are coming from the Olo’eyktan’s mouth he can feel a ping of nervousness strike his chest, having a feeling that the topic could be shaky territory by the way he watches your body grow tense at the mention of why you left. You weren’t expecting him to ask your reasoning behind your move at this moment so it caught you off guard. The forest was filled with amazing, beautiful memories you’ll forever cherish but there’s also been dark times that you wish you could forget.
“Neytiri, I feel like I’m the only adult in this house that cares for Lo’ak. You and Jake stay away from him as if he’s a disease but both of you practically smother the other kids with attention. It’s not fair to him, he deserves all his parents to show him love, not just me!” You were getting frustrated with your mates treatment toward Lo’ak, you know Jake would be a tough cookie to crack but during most situations Neytiri is the level headed one out of the pairing so you were hoping that if you expressed your concerns to her she would be able to receive what you're saying instead of ignoring it.
“My parenting is the same with all the children, I do not favor one more than the other.” You can see her tail beginning to wip behind her, her ears flattening against her skull, and her face expressions quickly changing. All of those elements put together could only mean one thing, she’s angry. You hate when she gets upset, unlike Jake she reacts before she thinks of the consequences and when she lashes out she doesn’t care if you get hurt in the process. “What are you trying to imply, y/n? That I am a bad mother, that I cannot provide motherly love for them?!” The hiss that follows her question is sharp and quick, her tone is slightly calm but you can still hear the anger that’s trembling behind it which makes you a little more worried but you have to stand your ground, she needs to know what she does affects your son.
“I’m not saying you’re a bad mother but…” You had to stop yourself for a second because you feel like you’re about to tell a lie. If she’s treating Lo’ak differently than the others than she is a bad mother no matter which way you try to spin the matter. Maybe Neytiri will finally get it if you tell her to her face and not sugarcoat things like you usually do to spare her feelings. “Actually, I take that back. If a mother plays favorites among her children that makes her a bad mother because she isn’t treating them equally so yes, you are a bad mother!”
This is what set Neytiri off, she’s so pissed that she couldn’t even control her body and what she did in response to your remark. The Na’vi woman opens her palm and sends a harsh slap across your face, it was so quick that you didn’t see it coming but once it makes contact the impact is so strong it forcibly makes you turn your head in the direction of the hit, bringing ample amounts of pain to your cheek, causing a tint of purple to rise to the surface. You stand there in a state of shock, tears clouding your vision as you look at Neytiri’s who’s yelling at the top of her lungs. “How dare you say that to me?! I am a good mother!”
“You’re not Neytiri, stop lying to yourself and to me! When you’re out with Neteyam, Kiri, and Tuk, taking them for little adventures around the forest, you purposefully leave him home with Jake! What type of good mother does that?! And you only have the balls to do it when I’m not home because you know I wouldn’t let that slide!” You shout at her before moving your hand over your cheek, feeling some pain from the aftermath of the slap. “And you want to know something else?” You move closer to her, closing the gap between both of you. “A good mother would never hit the mother of their child and a good mate would never lay a hand on their wife!” The more you yell at Neytiri with a tone laced with anger, the more you comprehend that she hit you, your wife, the woman who’s supposed to love and keep you safe decides to inflict pain on you. “How could you hit me, Neytiri?! I’m your wife, you’re supposed to protect me not harm me!”
You haven’t thought about that day in a long time. You pushed it deep down in your memory bank, trying to forget the first time your ex-wife put her hands on you but when Tonowari asked you about your reason behind leaving the forest it brought the argument to the front of your mind. That memory along with others are painful, they cause you so much heartache that you wish they could be erased so your brain doesn’t have the chance to remember the hurt you felt during those moments. As you begin to come back to reality you feel something drip onto your arm, making you realize that your eyes have produced tears and they’ve been streaming down your face this whole time.
Tonowari can see the loss of light in your eyes, the tears freely flowing down your cheeks, and the way your body shivers at the mention of your past life in the forest. He didn’t mean to bring up any bad feelings or memories, he didn’t mean to make tears escape your pretty golden eyes, he was only curious about what took place that made you come to the reefs and now it’s clear to him that it wasn’t something pleasant. “I apologize for bringing up the topic, I didn't mean to make you upset or—”
“It’s okay, Tonowari. I know that you didn’t mean any harm.” You cut him off from his apology, not needing to hear anymore. You know that he’s curious and wants answers, you feel as if you owe him that because he accepted you and your little ‘itan with open arms but you're just not ready to reveal that part of your life story.
“You can tell me whenever you feel comfortable, no rush.” Tonowari places his hand on your bicep, squeezing it gently as a form of reassurance and to let you know that he’s here for you. He can see that you have a story to tell and he’ll be ready to listen whenever you’re ready to share.
“Thank you, that means a lot.” You give him a small smile, allowing him to see a little peek of your canines before you place your hand over his. As you look the Metkayina man in the eyes your heart rate starts to rise at a fast pace and you can feel your stomach tying in knots. In this moment you feel like a teenager again, all the emotions that come with liking someone hitting you all at once. Tonowari’s a sweet man, he’s slowly seeping his way into your heart and honestly you're not opposed to it.
You’ve known him for weeks now and you love everything about him, how great he is with his children, his kind and gentle nature, how he’s an authority figure within the clan but doesn’t let the power get to his head, you’re not only physically attracted to him but also to his personality. With both of your hands touching, feeling the warmth radiating from the other's skin, it's like sparks of electricity are burning through your skin. His touch makes you want to melt and you haven’t felt this way in years, that jittery feeling that sits and stirs in the pit of your stomach when looking at someone almost feels foreign to you but it’s nice, you’re glad that you can still feel all these emotions about someone after Jake and Neytiri, maybe it’s possible that you have another shot at being in love.
Seeing that your tears are still dampening your cheeks makes Tonowari's heart clench with pain knowing that he can’t do anything to dissolve the sadness that’s overshadowing you, especially since he’s the one who caused said tears by questioning your past. He doesn’t like seeing your beautiful face stained with tears so he resolves the issue by using his unoccupied hand to wipe them away. It comes as a surprise to you, before you can process what’s coming you feel his hand caress your face, his thumb gently gliding against your cheek and underneath your eye, wiping away the tears on one side of your face before moving on to the next.
His soft touch sends a shiver throughout your body, his callous hand feels so warm against your face and his eyes glisten with a sense of care and kindness. Your body is feeling things that your brain is barely able to comprehend, it’s wanting to act on emotions regardless of what your mind is telling you. Your eyes flicker between his eyes and lips, wondering what it would be like to kiss him. It’s been so long since you’ve felt someone else’s lips against yours, it would be nice to feel some sparks again, to get that electrified feeling in your veins when you kiss someone. ‘Do it. Kiss him.’ The thought echoes through your mind while trying to decipher if it’s a good idea. Before you psych yourself out and say no you just mumble “screw it.”, place one of your hands on one side of his face, and kiss him.
His lips feel so good against yours, that spark you were hoping to feel is there, you can feel it surging through your veins and causing your heart to thump against your ribcage. The kiss creates a warmth spread through your body, it makes you feel good about making the split decision to kiss Tonowari until you begin to have second thoughts about it. You start to realize that you don’t feel Tonowari’s hand touching you in a loving manner, his body seems slightly tense, and his lips aren’t making an effort to reciprocate the kiss as you would like. In your mind all those things put together must mean that he doesn’t want to kiss you and that he definitely doesn’t see you in a romantic way like you hoped he did, causing all the tingling emotions you felt earlier to quickly seize and your body to run cold with embarrassment.
You quickly pull from Tonowari and start spewing out an apology, hoping it’ll make the moment less awkward even though you doubt that’ll happen. “Tonowari I’m so sorry, I don’t know what I was thinking, I’m such an idiot-” You spring to your feet and nervously run your hands through your braids, something you tend to do when you're in uncomfortable situations.
“It’s alright, y/n-”
“No, Tonowari it’s not. It was stupid of me to-”
“Mama!” Lo’ak runs inside the marui with speed and bursting to the seams with energy, wanting to ask you something. When you hear his little voice you mentally thank Ewya for the intervention so you don’t have to deal with the discomfort between you and Tonowari right now.
“Yes, Lo’ak?” You reply to his call while turning to face the entryway of the room you're in and giving your son your undivided attention.
“Can I go play with Rotxo for a little while?” Since being here Lo’ak has made a few friends, including Rotxo who was nice to him when he first started attending school. The two boys usually always play together while at school but today they went to play by the beach and roam the island a little and they know they need parental supervision for that which is why he’s asking you for permission.
With Lo’ak wanting to hang out with his friend this gives you the perfect opportunity to get out of this embarrassing situation with Tonowari and will allow you to clear your head a little and figure out what to do going forward. “Yeah, you can play with him. I’ll change into something different and then we can leave. Okay?” Lo’ak nods his head and goes to another area of the marui and starts gathering a few of his favorite toys and places them in a woven bag so he can show Rotxo later.
With Lo’ak now gone it just leaves you and Tonowari again and before he has the chance to rehash the previous conversation you decide to speak up. “It would be best if you leave now.” Your eyes avoid meeting his gaze and you can barely get out the words before feeling a wave of nausea thinking about how you physically expressed your feelings for a man that doesn’t feel the same way.
Tonowari doesn’t show any resistance and respects your wishes, not wanting to make you feel worse at this current moment and decides to speak with you later when you both can talk in private. He gives you a slight nod, acknowledging your words and showing that he hears you before leaving like you asked. When you watch the entryway flap close behind him as he walks outside you let out a frustrated sigh and run your hand down your face, wondering how you could possibly be able to see and talk to Tonowari again since now he clearly knows you have romantic feelings for him.
You want to figure this out as soon as possible so you can calm your nerves but right now you have to put that on pause and go into mother mode for Lo’ak and meet his new friend and his mother. You take a deep breath and rest your mind, shifting your attention to getting ready to go into the village and mingle with your new clan members. Once you change into a new matching set and drink a few sips of water you're ready to take Lo’ak to his playdate and try to forget about your crash and burn moment with the Olo’eyktan.
It’s sunny around this time of day, the ocean water is slightly warm and the aquatic life is very active, fish swimming calmly in the water, energetic Ilu leaping out the water every so often, and sea otters sunbathing and basking in the sun's light. When you and Lo’ak make it to the heart of the village you can see Rotxo who’s standing next to an older woman who you assume to be his mom and when him and Lo’ak make eye contact they immediately run to each other before dashing off to play, making you chuckle at their eagerness. “Lo’ak, stay where I can see you!” You shout to him because you know if you don’t he’ll start roaming all over the island and you won’t know where he is.
“Padma, it’s nice to meet you.” The woman says as she walks over to you, starting up a conversation. You’ve seen her around the village a handful of times since you arrived but you both never crossed paths before so this is the first time you’ve talked with her.
She extends her hand out for you to shake and you comply, wrapping your hand around hers in a firm shake before introducing yourself and telling her your name. “It’s nice to meet you as well, it seems like our boys are getting along nicely.”
“Yes they are. I’m glad they found each other.” She says with a soft smile before she turns and picks up the woven basket next to her that is filled with multiple different fruits and places it on her hip so she can take it home with her. “Would you like to come to my mauri and help me prepare a snack for the boys?” Padma assumes that after all the playing the boys will be doing they’ll be hungry and want a little treat.
Padma watches how your facial expression changes and notices the look of concern that comes across your face when you focus your attention over to Lo’ak showing Rotxo his wooden ikran toys, knowing that you want to keep an eye on him at all times. “Don’t worry, my mauri faces where they are playing so you’ll be able to watch him and make sure he’s safe.” When you hear that it makes you feel better, which means you agree to going with Padma to her home.
It only takes a few minutes to make it to her mauri and when you walk inside Padma invites you to come sit down next to her in the common area and places the basket of fruit between the both of you. She takes her knife out of its sheath and begins to cut away the skin of fruit while you start cutting another fruit into cubes. “So, y/n, how are you liking it here so far?”
“It’s taken me a while to learn and adjust to all the new lifestyle aspects but other than that I’ve been enjoying my time here so far.” Being among the Metkayina has been different but it’s been fun, being here makes you feel more free to be yourself and you don’t feel the need to have your guard up or always have to be fearful about going home at the end of the day. Going home to a relaxed environment is something you’ve always wished for since your past relationship started to derail so to have that now makes your spirit feel at peace.
“That’s good to hear, have you made any friends yet?”
“No, I don’t think the women in the clan are too fond of me yet.” Most of the Matkayina women haven’t been very receptive to your presence amongst the clan yet. Whenever you're walking around the village, trying to complete your daily tasks until you find a permanent role in the clan, some of them will stare at you while others will exchange hushed words while you walk by. You know the reason they aren’t receptive to you is because you’re a dreamwalker and your DNA contains human genes and honestly you don’t feel any sort of way about it because you dealt with the same thing when you first joined the Omatikaya. It took a while for them to warm up to you and start befriending you so you know it’ll be the same here. The only difference is that at least with the Omatikaya you still had your scientist friends in the lab so you weren’t completely alone but here you don’t really have any form of friendships except for Tonowari which you’re grateful for, regardless of your current situation with him but you would like you to find some women to hangout with.
“Well, consider me your first friend here.” Padma says with a smile, wanting you to feel welcome and that you have someone in your corner and like you have a sense of community here so you don’t have to be alone. Hearing that makes a small smile curl onto your lips and you begin to feel like you’re officially starting to build a new life here.
For the next hour or so you and Padma talk about multiple topics, asking questions and sparking up conversations to help the both of you bond and get to know each other better. While you're listening to Padma talk about how she met her mate and their love story, you begin to think about what happened between you and Tonowari earlier. You know that you can’t ignore him and that you have to talk to him about it but you have no idea what you’re going to say the next time you see him. While Padma is talking she notices how your mind is elsewhere and that you've zoned out of the conversation. She can see that something is on your mind and she feels like it would be rude of her not to ask and see if there was any way she could help. “y/n, is everything okay? I can tell your mind somewhere else.”
Before answering her question you wonder if you should tell Padma what’s troubling you, that you're having trouble in the love department which is kind of surprising to you since you’ve only been living among the Metkayina for a few weeks. On one hand you don’t really want to say anything because you aren’t a fan of telling your business but on the other hand you don’t know what to do about Tonowari and it would be good to get some advice. “There is something bothering me.” A small sigh escapes your lips before placing your knife down and putting the fruit you’ve prepared in a wooden bowl. “I have feelings for someone here, me and him are getting along well but I think I messed things up with him.” You decided talking to her about what’s going on would be best but to protect your privacy and Tonowari’s, especially with him being Olo’eyktan, you decided to keep his name out of the conversation.
Padma wasn’t expecting you to need advice relationship wise, not because she didn’t see you finding love with someone on the island but because you haven’t been here long but nonetheless she’s willing to help you in whatever way she can. “What do you mean ‘you messed things up’? What happened? If you’re willing to share of course.” You begin to tell her what happened with Tonowari, specifically the part where sparks flickered between you two and that you kissed him out of the blue, not wanting to give away too many details but give the important parts that’ll help Padma understand what’s going on between you and Tonowari.
As you talk and explain Padma listens carefully, wanting to make sure she hears everything before giving her opinion on the matter. Once you finish talking she gathers her thoughts and starts giving her advice. “I think that you just need to talk it out with him, it could’ve been a reason why he didn’t kiss back. When you kissed him he could’ve just been taken by surprise because he didn’t expect it.”
“You’re right, that could be it. I’ll talk to him and hopefully it goes the way I want it to. Thank you Padma.”
“Of course, I hope your mind is at ease now.”
“It is, and I’m hoping that this conversation stays between us.” You imply that you want the conversation that just took place to go no further than these four walls and Padma respects your wishes and promises not to speak of it with anyone. While the conversation shifts to another topic you can hear little voices and footsteps approaching and within the next few seconds Lo’ak and Rotxo come running inside asking for a snack, good thing you and Padma were already ten steps ahead and have something prepared for their rumbling stomachs.
The sun has started to slowly fall behind the horizon, causing the clear blue sky’s to fade and turn into a beautiful mixture of red and orange. With all the playing, swimming, and even a little roughhousing the boys have officially tired themselves out. Both Lo’ak and Rotxo's eyes are starting to grow heavy, meaning it’s time for them to take a nap. While Lo’ak and Rotxo are saying their goodbyes, you and Padma make plans to hang out later in the week, she tells you that she knows a great place on the island to have a picnic and you definitely can’t wait to go since you haven’t fully explored the island yet.
Once you and Padma wrap up your conversation, you grab Lo’ak by the hand and start walking along the spongy pathways around the village and make your way to your mauri. “Lo’ak, how was your time with Rotxo? Did you have fun?”
“I had so much fun, Rotxo is the coolest! He showed me how to do all these tricks on his Ilu and while we were in the water he caught a fish with his bare hands!” Lo’ak tells you about everything he and Rotxo did his voice is laced with excitement while he tells you each and every detail, making you smile at the fact he enjoyed his time with his friend and that he’s adjusting well to living with the Metkayina, especially socially. “I’m glad you had fun, yawntutsyìp.”
You and Lo’ak continue talking as you walk home which makes the walk seem shorter than it usually is. Since Lo’ak has a newfound burst of energy he believes he doesn’t need a nap but you tell him otherwise. “Lo’ak, if you don’t take a nap you’ll be tired later at dinner and-” When you turn the corner and are a few steps away from the entryway of your home you can see Tonowari standing in front of your mauri, causing your words to become lodged in your throat at the sight of him.
You were planning on talking to him, at the earliest tomorrow so you could have a night to figure out what to say and gather your thoughts but since he showed up without you having any prior knowledge you have no idea what you’re gonna say to him so now you have to rack your brain on what to say. Lo’ak is still standing beside you and the conversation you need to have with Tonowari definitely isn’t for children’s ears so you send him inside. “Lo, go inside and clean up so you can take your nap.”
“But Mama, I don’t wanna take a-”
“Now, Lo’ak.” When your son hears the sternness in your voice and the seriousness written on your face he makes a beeline for the mauri and does as you told him to. Once he makes it inside and you see the flap close behind him, you turn your attention to Tonowari and try to mentally prepare for the pending conversation. The Olo’eyktan walks closer to you before you can do it yourself, making your words begin to scramble in your brain and your mouth to start moving at a mile a minute before you can stop yourself. “Again, I just want to say I’m so sorry for kissing you out of the blue like I did. I shouldn’t have just assumed you have feelings for me, it was impulsive and-”
Before you can finish your rant, telling him how sorry you are for making things awkward between you both, Tonowari closes the gap between the two of you while his eyes lock intensively with yours, making your heart race. Suddenly, he leans in and presses his lips firmly against yours, causing your eyes to slightly widen in shock and your body to freeze while your mind is racing as you attempt to process what’s happening. The warmth that’s radiating from him overwhelms your senses, making you feel like you're on a sugar high. After a few seconds the initial shock fades you begin to relax and kiss him back, allowing your feelings to take over.
You lean into Tonowari, feeling his strength as he pulls you closer to him, one hand cradling your cheek while the other finds its way wrapped around your waist, anchoring you in place. His large hands on different parts of your body makes you want to melt in this moment. His lips are soft and insistent, moving so tenderly across yours that it takes your breath away. As the kiss deepens you can almost taste the sea salt on his lips, it’s intoxicating yet captivating, making the world feel like it’s fading and turning into a blur.
After what feels like hours but in reality is minutes, Tonowari pulls back and both of you are left breathless, making a smile appear on both of your lips, his because he feels a wave of joy and yours because you're still a little surprised that he kissed you and how amazing a kiss it was. It’s been many years since you’ve had an intimate kiss like this before, feeling another warm body against yours was a feeling you definitely missed and are so glad to have that again with someone you genuinely like.
“y/n,” The Metkayina begins, his voice low and filled with sincerity, still lingering in the warmth of the moment you both shared, hoping he can gather the right words. “You don’t need to apologize, earlier I wanted to kiss you but I was taken aback, at that moment I didn't know what to do.” When you kissed Tonowari earlier he was in shock, he didn’t know how to react so he just froze up. Since Ronal died he hasn’t had feelings for anyone so when he met you everything felt so new and different to him, he didn’t expect to feel a connection with anyone again, especially with someone so different from him but he loved the way you made him feel.
“I didn’t mean to catch you off guard, I was just caught up in the moment.” You reply softly, beginning to feel a hint of shyness creep into your voice due to the way Tonowari’s eyes feel like they are peering directly into your soul.
“I’m glad you did, if you hadn’t I wouldn’t have known you felt the way I feel for you and we wouldn’t be here now.” He reassures you that everything that has happened was meant to be, the two of you were meant to share your first real kiss a few feet away from the ocean waves that are crashing against the sand, it was already written in the stars that the two of you would share such a special moment on the part of the island that’s secluded, meaning you don’t have to worry about prying eyes of the village, it would just be you and him, exploring your connection without fear.
“So, what does this mean for us?” With Eywa giving you a second chance at finding love you don’t want to beat around the bush or once he goes home begin thinking about what the next step is so you decide to be blunt and ask him upfront so you can have a clear understanding. “Where do we go from here?”
“I want to explore what we have and where this connection can lead but I want to take things slow. It’s been years since I was in a relationship and I don’t want to rush into anything, I want everything to happen the way Eywa intends.” For years Tonowari was hesitant on opening his heart again, afraid that he would grow to love a person just to lose someone else he’s grown to care for. Now that you’ve broken the walls he set around his heart he’s ready to find that special connection with someone and he’s willing to take the risk of being hurt because to him you’re worth it.
“I understand how you feel completely, I think it would be best to take our time and just further build our connection.” You’re glad you and Tonowari are on the same page with how you should go about your relationship because you want to take things slow with him, wanting to make sure you can fully trust him before letting him into your life completely.
“I like the sound of that.” Tonowari replies with a soft smile before he reaches for your hand and intertwines your hand with his. The warmth of his grip sends a comforting shiver through your body, grounding you in the moment. The gentle pressure of his hand against yours feels like an unspoken promise, a commitment to explore the connection blossoming between you.
Since Tonowari has a little free time and Lo’ak was inside sleeping you decide to take him down by the shore with you. With your hands already connected it’s easy to guide Tonowari a few feet away from your home and closer to the water before you find the perfect place to settle. Both of you sit down in the warm sand and you lean against Tonowari, resting your head on his shoulder while he wraps his arm around your waist and pulls you closer to him, making you relax under his touch.
It feels nice to have a man by your side, a true man, not someone who disrespects and treats you like a burden. When you left the forest you didn’t know if you would find love again, you didn’t even know if you wanted to try and find someone again after what you endured but it seems like Eywa had her own plans in motion, allowing you and Tonowari to meet was definitely her way of telling you that it’s okay to open your heart again.
As you sit nestled against him, you realize how different this feels. Tonowari’s presence is calming and genuine, a total contrast to the chaos of your past. He listens intently when you speak, his gaze always filled with warmth and understanding. The way he holds you makes you feel valued, cherished even, which is a new feeling for you, but one that you love.
You take a moment to appreciate the beauty around you—the colors of the sunset painting the sky, the gentle sound of waves crashing against the shore, and the feel of sand beneath you. In this peaceful setting, you begin to let go of your reservations. The fear that once held you captive starts to dissolve and replaces itself with hope that maybe you can build something real with him. With every soft touch and shared glance, you sense the possibility of a future where love isn’t synonymous with pain.
As the minutes pass, the conversation flows effortlessly between you, filled with laughter and shared stories. Tonowari speaks of his childhood, his eyes lighting up as he recalls the joyous moments which allow you to see a different side of him while you share stories from your life in the forest, a few that are a little more personal to you than the ones you told him earlier today and will help him get to know you better than he did before. Each story that’s told deepens your bond, revealing layers of who you both are and allowing you to grow closer. Occasionally, Tonowari leans down to press a gentle kiss to your forehead or cheek, gestures that send shivers through your entire being. You can’t help but smile, feeling a sense of safety and belonging you thought you’d lost forever. The world around you fades, leaving just the two of you, wrapped in your own cloud of shared comfort and emerging trust.
As the last rays of sunlight dip below the horizon, casting a warm glow around you, you lean closer into Tonowari’s embrace, feeling a sense of peace settle in your heart. In this moment, surrounded by nature’s beauty and the man who makes your heart flutter, you realize that the walls you once built to protect yourself are beginning to crumble. With Tonowari, you sense a future filled with possibility—a future where love is not only attainable but also vibrant and real. With laughter still echoing between you and the gentle waves serenading your moment, you realize that you didn't just find a refuge from your past, but the promise of a beautiful journey ahead—one that you are eager to explore together.

Three’s Company pt 4
part 3; part 4; part 5
pairing: tonowari x jake sully x reader
tags: gentle dom!reader, sub!wari, sub!jake, p in v, oral (m and f receiving), sub space (i think?), jakesully banter
a/n: there’s just something about a large man submitting and devoting himself to you, isn’t there?

the three of you had broken away from the tribe for the day once everyone’s responsibilities were fulfilled. thankfully there was a shoal of fish that were passing by because of the warm weather so there was plenty to eat and the warm days made it so that the tribe was in higher spirits.
you looked at jake now, hands curled in tonowari’s hair while he gorged on your most intimate area, licking it like a man possessed. your legs shook under you and if you weren’t against a wall you were sure you would have fallen into him.
the expression he had on his face was intense and you shivered in pleasure. you’d told him that you wanted time with tonowari and wanted him to watch, especially because you’d noticed tonowari had been particularly needy today, pressing his hardness into your back, keening softly in your ear…you didn’t want jake to touch him while he was like this. it was selfish, sure, but when tonowari got into these moods he was yours and yours alone.
you felt his warm tongue lick its way through your folds before circling your clit, just how you liked. moaning, you gripped him tighter as you sat on a ledge that jutted out just enough that you didn’t have to stand anymore.
“your tongue is so good wari,” you moaned. “bet jake wishes it was wrapped his cock.”
tonowari smiled against you and looked up. his expression was blissful and you knew he was deep in whatever headspace he enjoyed occupying while he was like this.
“i didn’t tell you to stop.”
he went back to licking your folds, moaning at your scent. you could practically hear the precum dripping on the cave floor.
“good boy,” you cooed, and you heard jake swear under his breath. “if you make me cum i’ll reward you.”
a sound of protest was made and you looked at tonowari. “wanna stay here,” he said. “i want to make you cum over and over again.”
“you don’t want to cum today?” you asked.
he shook his head. he just wanted to make you feel good it seemed. to be bossed around and not worry about himself. to devote himself to your pleasure. it wasn’t often he got like this, usually still wanting some kind of reciprocation when he was a sub. maybe he’d had a rough day.
he went back to licking you and you bit your lip, moaning for him. the least you could do was put on a show for him, to let him know how good of a job he was doing.
“you can’t expect me to just watch. that’s hardly fair,” jake whined.
you looked at him thoughtfully. “i’m not sharing tonowari today,” you said earnestly. “when he’s like this…i can’t really trust anyone else.”
jake furrowed his brow. “does tonowari want to share you?”
your heart flipped and you looked down tonowari who nodded.
you didn’t quite know what the dynamic would be, here. jake liked to take charge but you needed to be in charge of tonowari right now. so you were surprised when jake came up to you and suckled on your breast.
“anything you need me to do, princess?” he asked, kissing up your chest.
you breathed heavily. “me?”
“you’re in charge,” he said earnestly now.
you gasped as tonowari’s tongue flicked your clit. “kiss me, stroke yourself while you do it.”
jake eagerly obliged and your lips met each other heatedly. his kisses were different from wari’s, more frantic but in a good way. his teeth clipped your lips and moved down your neck until he found a sensitive spot that made you see stars.
you squeezed tonowari’s head a bit harder and he responded in kind, moving faster as jake nipped at you and caressed your breast with his free hand.
“fuck,” he said softly against your neck. “the noises you make…”
tonowari’s fingers entered you now, eager to make good on his promise to make you cum. you rocked your hips against him greedily wanting more. “yes, wari. fuck.”
you came, gasping for breath that you didn’t even know you holding, rolling your hips into tonowari who didn’t stop moving, only slowed as he worked to build you up again.
“how many times can you…?” jake asked.
“on his tongue? my record is five. he can be really motivated,” you said before biting back a moan. “once i, fuck, once i had two that weren’t even ten seconds apart.”
jake laughed and gasped when you started stroking his cock. you wanted more than anything to take one of them inside of you, but you still weren’t sure who.
jake kissed you again, distracting your thoughts as he pinched your nipple. you separated and panted, crying out when you felt tonowari’s tongue lap at your clit again.
you felt a familiar pressure in your belly and you gasped, moving away from tonowari’s face. “sorry, sorry,” you said, “i don’t…i’m gonna make a mess.”
tonowari kissed your leg and nuzzled into it before going back in. “i don’t care.”
“wari!”
“don’t care,” he said again. in fact, the idea that you might drench him in your juices seemed to make him more determined to make you come. your protests were drowned by jakes mouth on yours.
“he said he doesn’t care, princess. let’s make a mess, hm?”
you shook your head, but you hips betrayed you and rolled in your mate’s face once more. you bit your lip as you tensed, climax and pressure both building until you just couldn’t hold back anymore and you came, squirting down your thighs.
“fuck me,” jake said as he watched, squeezing the base of his cock as he did so.
horrified, you began to apologise, but tonowari was unbothered and licked your cunt and lower lips clean before continuing. it was erotic how unbothered he was. his face had mostly avoided the splash luckily but honestly it was like he enjoyed it.
your legs trembled now, your clit a bit too sensitive but you didn’t dare stop him. it honestly felt way too good and you were coming close to a third orgasm. three on his tongue was fine, you thought.
“gotta say i’m jealous of wari,” jake said with a laugh as he resumed stroking. “between your legs like that? i want…fuck…you know…”
jake loved licking you down there. or licking anything, really.
“another day, maybe.”
it didn’t take long for you to cum once more and you gently brought tonowari’s face up to your own and kissed him. he was rock hard against you, leaking with all over your thigh.
“good job, wari,” you said. “i want to fuck you now. bet your cock will feel so good inside me.
“how do you want me?” he asked breathlessly, kissing your neck. he was so eager to please, so pliant. you preened at his utter devotion to you.
“sit down for me,” you said and he obliged. you grabbed his cock and slowly took him inside you, hissing at how it stretched your walls.
you bottomed out and panted, feeling him inside you. slowly you moved your hips and tonowari’s eyes fluttered closed and jake stroked himself next to you.
“wari, can you suck jakes cock?” you asked.
chuckling at your politeness tonowari sat up and jake entered his mouth, swearing as he did. it was a sight to see, tonowari moaning while jake fucked his mouth gently.
while he’d said he didn’t need to cum, you still rode him with every intention of making him. his eyes closed and spit started to roll down his mouth as he gave in to the pleasure and let the two you take control. jake’s hand was carefully gripping his hair as he fucked his mouth gently.
“fuck, princess, i’m gonna cum,” he said.
“no.”
he looked at you confused. “what?”
“not until i say so,” you explained. “those are the rules.”
wari moaned in agreement and you could tell he was close, too. his mouth left jake’s cock and he panted, back arching with each movement.
“he’s so beautiful like this,” you cooed. “do you want to cum, wari?”
he shook his head. “not until you say.”
“fuck,” jake said. “fuck.”
“he’s so good,” you said. “but that means i have to take good care of him, too.”
jake understood your meaning immediately and why you were so hesitant to let him just join in. there was a delicate balance here, a kind of trust that was almost sacred. a trust you didn’t take lightly at all.
“if you can make jake and i cum, wari, you can cum,” you said. “jake, you can cum when you want i don’t really mind.”
tonowari nodded and thrusted up into you while tugging jake’s dick.
surprisingly jake was the first to cum, swearing as he painted tonowari’s chest. you followed soon after, honestly spent at the fourth orgasm you’d had that day.
“cum, wari.”
he did immediately and his body trembled as he thrusted up into you. he panted, collapsing onto the bedding as you kissed his torso and cooed soft praises.
he arched into your gentle carresses moaned softly. his skin shone from the sweat and you grabbed some cloth to wipe jake’s cum off his chest.
“was it good?” tonowari asked, and you laughed as you gave him water from a nearby bowl.
“always,” you said, kissing him again. “you okay? how do you feel?”
he hummed as he shut his eyes. “better. i had a…hard day. needed to take my mind off things.”
“any time,” you said. “and i’m sure jake would be more than eager to do it again.”
jake nodded. “had no idea he could be like that.”
“it’s not a common thing,” you said. “usually he’s a brat.”
tonowari chuckled, not denying it.
“you should see her when i’m in charge.”
you rolled your eyes and gave him a kiss. “another time, love.”

Being on all fours was something he enjoyed and you knew this, the thought excited you knowing he got excited from seeing you in such a position. The way his hands touched and teased your body, lips kissed and sucked along your soft skin. You couldn’t help the way your body reacted so quickly to his advances. His big calloused hands rubbing your ass, squeezing and spreading you open for him.
He groaned at the sight of your already leaking folds, watching as you clenched around nothing. Your body was so desperate to be filled by him in any way you could.
His thick fingers teased your folds, dragging your slick up to your clit where he rubbed gently. Your body lurched forward, arms growing weak as you fell forward, ass higher in the air. The new position shows off your slick-covered pussy and thighs.
“Look at you.. needy for me.. ready for me..” he stated, this caused you to whimper quietly as you tried pressing back against his thick digits, attempting to get his fingers to where your needy body craved them the most.
“P-please.. ngh.. your fingers..” you gave a weak plead, wanting to feel his fingers already. You nearly cried out in joy as his fingers pressed against your clit, and your eyes rolled back at the appreciated amount of pleasure. However, just as quickly as you came it was gone a loud cry left your lips as you pressed back trying to find his fingers again.
“You can do better than that my love.. let me know how bad you want my fingers.. let me know how bad you want me to fuck into you.” He ordered you gently.
Your whines slowly came to a stop, your eyes opening briefly as you tilted your head back to stare up at him. “Wari.. please.. need you.. mmm… fuck.. need your fingers please..” you pleaded, your own hand slipping down to please yourself.
You heard the male behind you shuffle around as he watched you finger fuck yourself, you both know good and well your fingers just weren’t his and you wouldn’t be able to come. Your whimpers loudly, his ears twitching at your desperate pleas as he watches you try to relieve yourself. “Please.. Wari.. please.. oh.. f-nghg! Please daddy need it.. need your fingers.” You cried out.
“That’s it good girl..” he murmured as he replaced your fingers with his own, finally delivering to you the pleasure that you were so desperately begging for.

i LOVE how you headcannon tonowari as a sub🧎‍♀️🧎‍♀️im gonna need you to elaborate more on that👀👀
sub!tonowari nsfw headcanons <3
cw: sub!tonowari (canon!!!) x afab!reader, praise kink, oral!f receiving, p in v, masturbation (f), orgasm denial/control, biting/marking, aftercare sorta, think that's all
ok so i elaborated a little on how he’s a boob man, but i mean this man is obsessed with your tits
like if you ever linger behind after a clan meeting his head is burying itself into the soft of your chest, eyes fluttering closed as you tangle your fingers through his hair and tug lightly
sucking softly on the plush of your breast, if you let him i swear he’d have his mouth attached to your chest all fucking day
he’s lowkey a brat 🙄
like purposely man-spreading, fully on display for you and silently asking you to put his ass in place!
flexing his muscles, showing off and catching the attention of other clan women
and then when you do he’s a blubbering whiny mess
crying softly as your grind your bare cunt against his hardened cock but not sinking down onto him
you make him watch as you touch yourself
his cock is throbbing and balls heavy and he’s so sensitive, pleading with you
he’s telling you how good he’s been, and how sorry he was, how he won’t do it again
“M’sorry, won’t do it again, please just let me cum”
you're sucking hickies and bite marks onto his toned thighs, his hips are stuttering as he tries to get your mouth on him
you slap at his thighs and he whines out your name but stops
idk if he’d cry but his eyes would water so bad because he’s so overstimulated but he hasn’t cum and he’s aching to be inside of you
i think if he’s being “punished” you’d def sit on his face and this mf would put on a show!
have we seen his tongue
he’s so messy, moaning so loud as he fucking devours you
apologizing with his tongue, holding your hips down onto his face so you smother him
lapping, sucking, biting softly, his tongue roughly thrusting inside of you
you don’t give him the satisfaction of telling him how good he’s making you feel and he’s begging you to tell him how good he’s been for you
i don’t think he has a mommy kink, sorry y’all but i do think he has a praise kink
when he notices how adamant you are in not telling him, he puts his all into making you feel good
he loves when you cum all over his face, his mouth and face is soaked in your release and his cock is fucking throbbing and heavy
when you finally cave and sink down onto him, his hands are digging into the floor, face burying into the blankets
whimpers whimpers whimper
his hips are fighting the urge to fuck up into you but he knows if he did you’d stop
your hips are lazily rocking into him, not fully using him as he’d like but it feels sooooo good
i think this man is fucking hung! def would be a belly bulge at the end of your tummy
you grab his hand and press it into your lower stomach, clenching around him as he presses into the dent he causes
he feels so good about himself, crying out your name as you finally begin to lift yourself up and sink roughly down onto him
his thighs are warm and red from the sheer force of your movements
no coherent thoughts going on in his brain, he’s just focused on not cumming yet and the warm wet feeling of you wrapped around him
“please, wanna cum” like his voice is whiny and wobbling
thick and full of desperation, his fingers slowing crawling up to your hips, just wanting to feel you close to him
after a few more hard rolls of your hips he’s begging you to let him cum
your pressing down onto him, your chest flush against this chest before your teeth sink down onto his shoulder
“you can cum ‘wari, been so good for me”
let’s put the most guttural moan you’ve ever heard
cums so fucking much, his hips roughly stuttering into you as he releases inside of you
he gets so sleepy and clingy after, his eyes are all low and heavy, practically unable to move as you clean him up
he’s spent and happy, all the stress leaving him as the warmth of your body lulls him to sleep <333

One word from you and I would jump off of this ledge I’m on, baby.
Tell me don’t so I can crawl back in- Mitski, First Love/Late Spring
As the beloved niece of the reigning Olo’eyktan, in your life you had wanted for nothing.
Had spent the last nineteen years in isolated bliss. The island of Awa’atlu and your tribes familiar inhabitants were all you knew. Your life moved to a steady beat, as sure as the morning eclipse. As rhythmic as the tides.
And you had been content, really you had. Too busy to be bored. Too beloved to truly dwell on the gap. On the absence of a mate no matter how much your Uncle; Tonowari urged you to accept one of the many offerings of courtship. Lonely maybe, but happy.
Useful. Focused.
Ever since the Sully’s arrival, you have felt anything but.
Descending from the skies on ikran back, they left plumes of sand in their wake. Shook up everything you had ever known as they stood there on the beach, adrift. Out of place, different then anything you had ever seen with their dark skin and thin tales. That morning had been a whirlwind of harsh words and brief but tense negotiations.
So much change had happened in such a small amount of time that it was hard to wrap your head around-
The leader of the Sully Tribe, Jake, had begged Uturu for his family. And ever benevolent, your Uncle Tonowari had granted it to them.
Overwhelmed by crowds, you don't recall much more of that day except for the desire to run away. To escape the strained aura’s of the hesitant clans people and the exhausted newcomers. You’d gone to away, eager to get back to your herbs and tinctures. To the safety of familiarity to digest the entire situation.
You’d been stopped in your tracks, rooted in place, by a pair of striking golden orbs.
A stare like none you’d ever known. His eyes resonated with you. Plucking a cord n your chest that echoed throughout the rest of your body. You’d never felt anything like it. Never been so affected by a stranger.
Never been so affected by anyone.
Even now, months later, thinking of Neteyam that look he’d given you on his first day here makes you hot. You dream about it, about him often. He plagues you, has taken up permanent space in your subconscious.
You wake most mornings to phantom touches. To his voice ringing in your ears and an empty bed mat that feels too cold.
This morning is no different. Your eyes flutter open with a gasp and your heart is beating madly in your chest.
It's early. You have only moments before you will be expected to wake and start your daily routine. Really, you should’ve been up by now-
Instead you lie in your corner of the family mauri, the privacy curtains pulled around your bed as you shoulder into the woven blankets. Your hands slip down- lower on your belly and into the dip of your tweng.
Between your legs you’re hot, soaked and pulsing as you always seem to be these days. Your clit swollen almost painfully as you press your fingers to it, rubbing firm little circles as you search for some kind of relief. Humping harshly into your small hand, cupping your sex desperately as you recall Dream Neteyam.
He’d pinned you to a tall palm, your belly pressing against the rough bark as buried his nose in your hair. All panting breaths and wandering hands.
“You’re so beautiful”
“I’m right here”
“Let me have you, I have to have you”
Dream Neteyam says all the things you want to hear as he ravages you. He’s sure footed, cocky in that way that you knew he could be. He’s pushy and needy and you’d give him anything if he asked for it, Eywa all he had to do is hint that he wanted it-
“Spread your legs for me, sevin ”
You bite your lips bloody, your fangs digging into them as your thick thighs clamp shut around your hands and your pussy spasms. You want to cry out as you come. Fight the urge to whine because it’s not enough, you’re still so empty.
Neteyam’s name is always on your tongue as you come down from your self induced high.
“Y/N? My Child, are you awake?”
There’s no time to bask in the afterglow, you wrench your hands away. Wiping the mess on your blankets as you shoot up straight-
“Yes? Yes. I’m coming, i’ll be out a minute” You try to keep your voice from breaking and just barley succeed.
Ronal who had peeked a head into the empty mauri isn't convinced, but accepts it anyway “Hurry now, we have to get going. The tide pools will be filling and we need to restock the sea-tsam(kelp like herbs), you haven't even eaten breakfast yet. Up!”
You only release the breath stuck in your chest when she’s scurrying back out of the home- one of these days you’re going to get caught.
Your people are free with their sexuality, there’s no shame in pleasure whether it be self inflicted or given by another. But it would make those pesky questions arise- if you’re so needy, Y/N- why do you refuse every eligible bachelor that comes your way?
You huff, thinking about that very thing as you get ready for the day. Bruising through your long hair almost violently as you chew it over.
If you need to be fucked so badly, why are you three years into adulthood without a mate? You don’t even have a possible suitor- your friends are having babies, building lives, and you’re still living with your family.
It used to be that you we’re hyper focused on your role in the clan. On your training as part of the Tsakarem. On preparing Tsireya for the day she reaches adulthood and takes over her mother’s title.
You had always been family oriented, and the clan had accepted it-
But now there were whispers. Inquiries, never spoken to you but always about you. It’s an oddity that such a pretty young woman with such high standing is choosing to be alone.
Is there something wrong with you?
· · ─────── ·𖥸· ─────── · ·
The only thing that’s wrong with you is your inability to focus on the most mundane of tasks as of late.
After a quick breakfast, you’d taken off. Determined to knock the long list of chores down.
You’d collected herbs until your fingers hurt and the satchel slung across your chest was full to the brim. You’d tended to the Elders, and checked in on the mother with newborns, still so fresh to the world that they’re connected to their Sa’nok kuru, constant Tsaheylu necessary at such a young age.
Healing isn't always glamorous, and while you’d much rather be mixing potions and sketching in your journals- you check fevers. Change chamber pots. Kiss the scraped knee’s of young ones.
You’re supposed to be heading back to the Healer’s Mauri, the large hut where Ronal waits for you-
But instead you get sidetracked.
It’s all you seem to do these days.
Lounging in the soft warm sand is so much easier then running around the village.
You’d come across your cousins who were circled by Roxto and the elder Sully’s, and it hadn't taken much convincing for you to tag along on whatever little adventure they had planned for the afternoon. It had led you to one of the smaller isles, a tiny thing that was mostly white sand beaches and deep rocky cove tunnels.
Lo’ak and Ao’nung practicing their breath holds, taking turns weaving through the underwater caves. The two had went from going for each others throat’s to thick as thieves, and your glad. Lo’ak’s troubled, but he’s not trouble. Not the way that your cousin's other asshole friends are.
Roxto and Neteyam wade through the crystal clear shallows, hunting for clams that are abundant at this time of year.
You’re sat with Kiri and Tsireya, the three of you staying in the beach and giggling about current clan gossip. Chattering endlessly.
Neteyam’s shoulders are broad and glisten in the bright afternoon sun. You can barely tear your gaze away from him. Hungrily, needing to glance back every few seconds-
“The celebration is in less then a month's time” Tsireya states, a small grin playing on her lips as she takes in the scene.
She knows about your feelings for the eldest Sully son, you’d confessed them to her in a fit one night. Unable to keep them caged in your chest anymore. She can understand the appeal- her own eyes had been glued to the family since the arrival.
What she can't understand is why you wont tell him- or at the very least why you’re being so damn shy about it. You had never been this demure before.
“I know, the preparations have been a real pain in my ass” You reply, turning on your side to face her. Arm bent at the elbow, chin propped in your hand. “Tonowari has me assisting with getting the ceremonial mats woven. It’s not fair”
“I think he just wants you to be…a more active participant this year” Tsireya chooses her words wisely, ignoring your side eye “It’s sweet”
“It’s annoying” you hiss, eyes rolling harshly. Your tail swishes behind you, a firm pat on the sand.
“This is the celebration that’s held for the hunters. The ones that pass their Iknimaya’s?” Kiri asks, intrigued. She’s inquisitive and you’d assured her early on that she could ask you anything, that you’d help her understand the customs of your people.
“Yes and it’s so much fun. You’ll see, the Hunters come back from Motnaui(ritualistic hunt) and we spend the day roasting their catch, thanking Eywa for her abundance. There’s dancing and singing- “ Tsireya’s eyes sparkle as she talks about it, glazed with nostalgia.
You let her rant a bit more before cutting her off, “And mating. Most of the hunters will stake their claim on any courtships that have been started”
Because yes, it is a celebration for the newly joined adults of the clan, but goes hand in hand with the fact that it is their first chance to choose a mate.
“We have something like this back in the forest, it's the start of Fertility Season right?” Kiri verifies and you nod. “Does it coincide with the rains here, too?”
“Mhmm, most newly mated pairs will spend the week or so tucked away…-” Tsireya’s cheeks get red and you roll your eyes.
“Coupling” You interject and she shoots you a look that has you tittering. Awe, your sweet young cousin, still a year away from her own Iknimaya. Innocent and shy when it comes to such topics.
Kiri doesn't look scandalized- she’d come to adulthood back in the forest. Though she hasn't chosen a mate she had partaken in many of the festivities.
“Yes, coupling” Tsireya continues. “Its all beautiful really, its my favorite time of year. Right after the return of the Tulkun of course”
Its nice listening to your cousin's version of the celebration. You think that yeah, your own view of it all used to be mostly the same. That was until you’d reached adulthood, and had spent the last cycles without a mate of your own. This week that Tsireya found so beautiful had just been wet for you. Yourself and other unmated , able bodied Na’vi took on the duties of the disposed clan members.
It was an honor to take care of your people while they were vulnerable.
It was embarrassing to have not found a mate of your own yet.
You wonder if this year you’d spend the week in the rain again.
“You don't seem excited” Kiri whispers and you force a smile onto your face almost instantly, not wanting to come off so extremely transparent.
“It’s not that I’m not-”
“Y/N hasn't mated yet”
“Obviously Tsireya, thank you for pointing that out” you deadpan at the girl but she continues on, not phased in the least by your attitude-
“But I do think that will change this year”
Kiri perks up, big eyes interested, a brow arched “Really? Has someone caught your eye? Every time any one even tries to start courting you, you give them the cold shoulder”
“That’s not true, I’m nice about it” you defend your actions “I just haven't been interested in any of their offers”
“‘Their’ being half of the unmated men in this clan” Kiri’s sarcasm rivals your own, you flick a small shell at her forehead.
“It hasn't felt right and Eywa wouldn't want me to settle. '' The words taste condescending as they roll off your tongue, you don't blame them for scoffing at you but it's true.
If you had accepted an offer in the past, you wouldn't be free to follow your hearts desire now…your eyes flick back to the shore. Back to the broad shoulders.
“I’m sure whoever you choose will be honored,” Kiri chuckles. “Surprised though, probably. I overheard a couple of Elder’s making bets that you’d make another suitor cry this year”
The peel of laughter that Tsireya lets out is shrill and loud,
Roxto and Neteyam’s heads turn, far out enough now that the surely cant hear the conversation but can hear the shrieks of joy. Roxto grins and signs something that you can't quite make out and Neteyam gives a small wave.
You can feel the big stupid smile on your face, it’s no surprise that Kiri acknowledges it.
“You didn't answer my question. Is there anyone in particular that you have your eye on?”
You gnaw on your bottom lip. You’d been wanting to run it past her for weeks. Desperate for her insight but too embarrassed to muster up the courage and ask for it.
“Tell her, tsmuk’tu” Tsireya urges gently.
“I have been hoping that…Neteyam might choose to court me. After his Iknimaya” You admit it, carefully watching her for her reaction. Your own ears are pressed to your head, your fingers winding around each other nervously.
“I was wondering why that idiot was going through his rites again” Kiri nods, like she’d found the missing piece of a puzzle.
One that she wasn't willing to share with the group.
“What’do you mean? If he wants to be a hunter, he has to” You point out the facts, the law of the village.
“Well yeah, but I mean look at how our dad did it. He didn't jump through all of the hoops, he just tamed his Skimwing on his own time. My brother has been adamant about wanting to be apart of ceremony”
You ingest Kiri’s words greedily, letting them expand in your chest. It’s hope, the fragile kind, the scariest kind.
“Maybe he just wants to prove himself as a hunter. We’ve heard his skill is legendary to the Omiticaya” you suggest and Tsireya pushes at your shoulder, shaking her head.
“Maybe” Kiri shrugs her shoulders “But mating is important to Neteyam. He’s always wanted a big family, I think he really idolized our parents' marriage. Mom said he must’ve taken an interest in a mate if he’s making such a big deal out of being a recognized adult here”
A big family. Neteyam wants to be a father.
The thought is heady. The seed has been planted in your head and you know there is no way that you will ever be able to dig it out.
“Do you think that-”
You're cut off by booming laughter, by clatter and chaos. Who else could it be but Ao’nung and Lo’ak coming back from the caves, they had the worst possible timing. You shoot daggers at your cousins fat head.
“What are you girls whispering about over here?” 'Nung teases as he drops next to you in the sand,
“That would be none of your business” You snipe, “Skxawng ass”
“Why so hostile, cuz?” Ao’nung starts “I was the one who invited you out here? You don't want to spend time with little ol’ me?”
“I spend too much time with you as is. I was hoping you had drowned down in those caves so I could get a break- NUNG!” you squeal as your cousin shakes his head, wringing out his wet hair all over you. The water is shockingly cold against your sun soaked skin.
Soon enough, Neteyam and Roxto come in from the waves, baskets full of multicolored shells. More than happy to share as they join the small circle.
“You had such a bountiful catch!” Tsireya applauds, happily accepting the oysters that Roxto offers.
You’re awkward around Neteyam on a good day- there's something so intimidating about his beauty. So tall and angular. But today? After the admittance you’d made to his sister? You can barely look at him.
You feel heavy and clunky and ugh, why does he make you so nervous? You’re playing with your hair, twisting the thick tendrils around your fingers idly when Neteyam turns to you.
“Do you want some?” He asks, already prying the tough shell open with his knife.
“Oh, yes please. They’re actually my favorite” You grin, and at least your voice doesn't project all the nerves you feel.
“I know” He hands you the oyster once he opens it and you try not to pay too much mind to how his fingers brush yours.
“How would you know that?” you slurp at the rich juice, grateful.
“Roxto was telling me about it” He says simply, already working open another shell to hand out.
“Oh yeah! Y/N remember when you ate so many of these that you got sick at dinner! I’ve never seen someone puke that much, it was never ending Roxto chuckles, igniting laughter from the group.
You wince, the memory is not a particularly good one and you don't enjoy reliving it. Especially not in current company. You can feel your cheeks heat intensely.
“It was so bad! You got it all over dad’s lap and he didn't know what to do” Ao’nung adds hysterically “He just started panicking- picked you up by your tail and tossed your ass outside”
Tsireya breaks, giggling behind her hand and Kiri all but chokes. Lo’aks shaking his head good naturedly as Ao’nung and Roxto are in stitches- the only one who doesn't laugh is Neteyam. No, instead he gives you a gentle kind of smile, before going back to his task of shucking.
You’re only the butt of the joke for moments more before it ping-pongs to Lo’ak, who has almost cut one of his odd five fingers off in the process of prying open an ornery shell.
“Oh! Look brother, how pretty” Kiri points out the large blush colored pearl that Neteyam had almost swallowed.
“That’s good luck!” You grin “They don't usually get that big”
Huh. Good luck you say?” Neteyam picks it out of the shell, holding it between his thumb and pointer as he examines how it shines in the sun. Beautiful…
You’re frozen when he reaches out, the pearl in the palm of his hand.
“Here” he offers it to you.
The purple flush that completely takes over your face crawls down your neck too. You're completely flustered by the simple gesture of good will.
You should tell him that you can’t take it- that he should give it to Tuk, his little sister that loves making jewelry. Instead you’re hungry for anything, will accept any scraps of himself that Neteyam will give to you.
“Irayo” you beam as you accept the pear, tucking it away in your satchel for safe keeping. “I love it!”
He just gives you another one of those ever soft boyish grins, his eyes pools of liquid amber.

As the weeks go by, there’s a certain light to you. A bounce in your step,
“Your aura has changed” Ronal informs you of the fact as the two of you sit in the Healers Mauri, plumes of heavy incense filling the space with fragrant smoke.
She’s far into her pregnancy now, but that has never stopped her from completing her duties. The salves she mixes with an expertise that comes from years of trial and error are potent and coveted.
Your lips quirk into a private smile as your fingers continue their threading. Working on a personal project in between your chores. “Has it really?”
She assesses you, her turquoise eyes all knowing as she takes you in. You’re a woman grown now far from the small child she had taken in with her husband all those years ago. In theses last few months you have blossomed, like a flower unfurling. She had an inkling of why-
“You are thinking of accepting courtship this cycle, yes?” It’s not a question, but a statement. One she already knows the answer to.
“I am” you whisper. “If he decides to pursue me, that is”
The comfortable quiet is back, both of you focusing on your respective tasks. You’d always been content just to bask in your Aunt’s presence.
“The Sully boy would be a fool not to court you” Ronal breaks the silence bluntly and you really should've had expected that she already knew.
· · ─────── ·𖥸· ─────── · ·
Where dread usually lives in your heart at this time of year, lies only excitement. Joy, that fragile hope as you prepare for the festival. Anyone who knows you can see the change, you throw yourself head first into ceremony prep. Spend hours sitting with Tsireya eagerly sowing together new pieces of clothing for the festivities.
You sing as you tend to your house work, sweet little tunes that your family is surprised to hear.
Tonowari is beaming, endlessly happy that you are going to give a member of the clan a chance. He’d been questioning your self induced isolation for years, and was eager to see which of his warriors had stolen your heart. Ronal refuses to tell him even though he knows she knows,
“It is not mine to share” his wife rebuff’s every time he questions.
As the day of the Iknimaya draws closer you try to make sure that Neteyam knows that you are open to courtship. You spend a decent amount of time with his family anyway, Tsireya and Lo’ak always connected at the hip and Kiri growing into a close friend.
You ask him about his training, tend to any wounds he may aquire diligently. Laugh at his bad jokes, and listen to his stories of home. He misses the forest, you can tell. You selfishly hope that there isn't a pretty Omaticayan girl waiting for him.
At dinner, in the largest communal mauri, filled to the brim with clans members who are all but vibrating with excitement for the close looming festivities, you navigate the people.
In your hands, a large plate made from a recycled shell piled is high. Fish roasted over the fire, steamed rice and root vegetables that you had harvested yourself.
You’d watched Neteyam along with a handful of other training warriors limp into dinner late. They look tired and worn down.
He’d plopped down next to his family without getting himself food, and that just wouldn't do.
“Jake, Neytiri- I see you” You greet his parents as you approach. The sit close together, always intertwined in one way or another.
‘He idolizes our parents marriage’
You understand Kiri’s words as you watch Toruk Makto and his mate, as you appraise their close bond.
Jake grins, Tuk in his lap. Greeting you right back, easy to conversate with. Neytiri is quieter, hard to read. Intimidating, just like Neteyam who favors her so much in looks. Still the older woman signs the greeting back to you.
“You look really rough” is not what you meant to say to their son. Neteyams brow bones rise and you could kick yourself. Definitely would later.
“Thanks, I feel it” Neteyam responds with a tired chuckle.
Instead you laugh too, albeit awkwardly, trying to remedy the situation “What I mean is, you didn't get yourself food- and I know how exhausting training can be. Here, please eat. I’d hate for you to lose strength this close to your rite”
He accepts the plate of food graciously and you try to ignore the heavy feeling of eyes on you. His families, the clans. People have noticed you, have noticed this act of service. There’s only one thing it can mean.
“Irayo Y/N, I appreciate you” he thanks, making room for you on the log that he’s sat atop “Would you like to sit with us?”
“Very much so- but I promised Elder Raou’wal that I would help him back to his mauri. His legs don't work like they used to, and I don't want him to fall again-” you curse your nature, the fact that you offer your help so freely.
All you want to do is take that seat, so close to Neteyam that your thighs would press against one and others.
“That is very kind” Neteyam soothes “It’s okay, another time”
“Yes, another time” You know you sound like an idiot. You feel like an idiot. Standing before him and his family uninvited.
You need to make a quick escape, overwhelmed by all of the attention. “Please, get some rest before tomorrow. I’ve had to tend to over worked warriors all week”
Neteyam’s grin…is something else. Something not so sweet. Something that makes you flustered, that he’s looking at you like that in front of his parents, in front of the tribe. “Don't worry about me, I'll be fine. Will you be there, tomorrow?”
“Of course I will” your response is quick, eager and it just makes that look on his face more intense.
“Good. Then I know everything will go well” his words make your heart beat so loudly your ears ring.
You don’t even know what to say, can barley keep your cool as you utter goodbye to his family, all of them quite obviously amused as you begin to scurry away.
You know the blush is burning up your whole face, that everyone can see your feelings as clear as day.
But-
You can’t leave him like that. Not with him facing is Iknimaya in the morning, with all of its promises of danger.
“May Eywa be with you, tomorrow and always” you give him the quiet blessing, truly hoping that the great mother looks over him.
He softens, physically. All of him slumping, as though you had put a balm on a jagged cut.
You don't wait for a reply.
Tonowari watches the exchange from his place at the head of the room,
Oh.
That is who had caught your eye, the warrior that had broken your resolve.
He shares a look with Ronal, his eyes comically wide and she laughs lowly at him.
“Ah my love, you have always been so slow”
· · ─────── ·𖥸· ─────── · ·
The Iknimaya rituals go as they always go, a long day full of young, strong hearted Na’vi eager to prove themselves. Most of them don’t succeed, at least half of them will need to wait until the next cycle to attempt it again.
Your family is at the center, you stand proudly behind Olo’eyktan Tonowari and Tsahik Ronal as they guide the young clan members through the rite of passage. Tsireya beside you, knowing that next cycle it will be her and Lo’ak attempting their own rites. Ao’nung cheering on young hunters that he had trained himself.
You love all of your people, the Metkayina one beating heart under Eywa’s watchful eye- yet you can't tear your focus away from Neteyam.
Your eyes are glued to him, and him only. The entire time. You watch, anxious and in awe. He’s so strong, all lean muscle and sharp mind. He mounts his Skimwing on the first try, much to the surprise of his peers. The people cheer him on, whopping loudly.
He’s beautiful, capable and skilled. He’s…stolen something from you. Abducted your soul, enthralled your thoughts in a way that almost felt intrusive.
You watch as the son of the first becomes a son of the sea, a man in both the Metkayina and Omiticaya tribes. A feat that almost none have accomplished.
The Motnaui is tradition, the freshly rited hunters will join the seasoned on a days long hunt. The time in the open ocean solidifies their bond to the tribe, their place that they have earned. Their chief will join them. Tonowari is eager, ecstatic for the time he gets to spend with his new hunters. With his ever growing tribe.
Everyone gathers to see the hunters off, so much love filling the crowded beach. Your people a buzz, tearful. Joyous.
You trail your fingers over the colorful Lei that lies around your neck. It matches the floral wreath nestled atop your head; the orchids are vibrant shades of fuchsia pinks and sunset yellows to represent your family.
They come in all shades, neon greens and baby blues, lilac purples and vibrant reds.
They are traded between your people at this time of year. Elders give them to children, sisters to their brothers. Tonowari wears many around his neck, the visual representation of how beloved he is to his clan.
To give a Lei can be friendly and platonic, sure. Especially if it is one of the dozens that are made just to be handed out- if a person wears multiple for clear decoration and celebration purposes only.
It can also be a very clear invitation for courtship- or at the very least consensual coupling. If a woman takes her lei off her own neck and presents it to a man, it is a sign of ownership. Marking that the specific male is taken for the duration of the fertility season.
You need to give Neteyam yours before he leaves, you want him to know that he has you. That you are his- and that you want him to be yours. That you will wait for him as he hunts and when he returns, he can have all of you.
You’re trying to find him in the crowd, your eyes scanning for the familiar dark blue skin that stands out so shockingly amongst your people-
Neteyam is with his family, all of them exuding proud energy. His mother cups his face in her lithe hands, his sisters hold onto his arms. His father pats his shoulder and his brother stares at him like he’s hung the stars.
You don't want to intrude on the moment, but you have to catch him before he leaves-
It’s like watching a horrible accident, like being witness to carnage that you just can't stop.
Seychelle, a clans member two years your junior, is beautiful. She’s a skilled singer and the daughter of a high ranking fisherman. She’s tall and shapely with pretty eyes, and its her first cycle as an eligible adult. As a woman grown who is available to mate.
She walks right up to Neteyam and his family boldly. Unafraid or ridden by anxiety like you always seem to be. All flirty smiles and fluttering lashes.
You’re too far away, can't hear what she says but you wouldn't want to anyway. Your chest is caving in and you feel like you can't breathe, your ears ring with the lack of oxygen.
You could challenge her. You have a high standing in the clan. You have first choice when it comes to mates,
But instead you just stand there. Bare witness to her taking off her bright orange Lei and slip it around Neteyams neck. He accepts it without a fuss, grinning and you can see his mouth form the words “thank you”.
Your nose burns and tears prick threateningly at your eyes but you know you can not let them fall. Not here.
You do what you do best;
You run away.
Not bothering to explain your exit to anyone, you probably couldn't form words around the lump in your throat anyway, you run as fast as you can. The world feels very far away, like it exists without you in it.
Your family mauri is empty, everyone's still at the beach and you don't even bother making it to your bed. You collapse right inside the entrance as the tears finally over take you and your eyes flood over.
What were you thinking?
How had you read this whole thing so wrong?
Your mind is dangerous, cruel in its confused, hurt state. It assaults you and you sob into your hands. You feel stupid now, in the special clothes you'd donned. Your hair twisted meticulously-
He had never been interested in you, you’d taken his innate kindness and skewed it. Neteyam had just been nice to you and you being the simple minded girl you were- had tried to force it into something more.
You curse yourself, curse your heart. Curse that fragile hope that you had clung to so desperately.
You cry until you feel sick, your eyes swollen and back tight from sobbing. You’re dizzy and tired by the time you crawl over to your bed. You don't even get under the covers, just stare blankly at the wall of the mauri as tears roll down your cheeks.
Who knew one person could produce so many tears? You wonder when your body will run out. You don't know how much time passes, only aware that darkness starts to fill the space as the evening eclipse arises.
“Oh, YN” the silence is broken by your cousin's soft voice.
Tsireya had wondered where you had gone, had been confused about your departure until she clocked Neteyam with a Lei around his neck that was quite obviously not yours.
“I’m sorry” Is all she whispers as she slips into the bed next to you, her arm winding around your middle.
It starts a whole nother round of tears. Of crying, mourning what you thought you could have.
“I-I-I’m so s-stupid” you stutter, snotty and muffled. She shakes her head, tears of her own starting to form as she holds you tighter.
“No, don't say that cousin. You’re not stupid” Tsireya soothes as she pets your hair. It hurts to see you in such a state. This had to be a mistake, she had been so sure of Neteyams feelings for you. Everyone had.
You shake your head, because you know you are. You knew you had little chance and still you’d paraded yourself in front of him like an idiot.
Never again, you vow to yourself.
To your shattered heart.
Wow, okay I didnt expect this to be so big, but I got so caught up in Metkayina Lore building that I kind of got sidetracked. Safe to say 90% of this story is going to be canon divergent. All of this Lore is my own creation and not Mr. Cameron's.
I have to give a shout out to two authors in the Avatar fandom that have inspired me the most as I write this.
@tiredmamaissy has really carved out a niche when it comes to the sexual nature of Pandora. I love the way she portrays Na'vi relationships and if this story leans a bit A/B/O its because I cant see the Na've not going to Heat's/Ruts now. She's just so good.
@loaksky when I tell you that reading her work makes me want to hone my craft, I mean that shit. She is a wordsmith in a way that you don't see much anymore. I am obsessed with how she long hand story tells and I def feel inspired everytime I read one of her fics. Queen of will they wont they/ slow burn.

~.~
Growing up, you always knew you were different. You couldn't hear the ocean waves, couldn't listen to the music of your clan for celebrations. You couldn't even harmonize with your mother as she sings to lull you to sleep.
Being born deaf, your parents tried so hard to pray to Eywa for a sign. The Tsahìk, Ronal, tried every herb and technique she knew, but nothing could change who you were.
What Eywa had decided for you to be.
You never blamed Eywa though, for the Great Mother had blessed you to feel a connection to her. You could feel her in the sand; the warmth of the sun that she blessed you with, the coolness of the ocean as you swam to admire the creatures she's created.
Even as a small child you had been drawn to the beauty of the Pandora.
The smallest sea shells you would collect and braid into your hair, stringing some together to make a necklace, bracelet, or head peice. The brightest floral you would gather to present to friends and family, just because the beauty of them made you think of others.
Ao'nung had only been eight when he met you for the first time. While training with his father on spear throwing he had caught sight of you collecting sea shells.
He was so distracted by you, he grabbed the spear wrong and cut his finger. Letting out a small hiss of pain, he instantly sucked on it, causing his father to gaze at him and then at you. Tonowari couldn't help but chuckle, "I see the silent beauty has caught your eye," Ao'nung was confused by his father's words, but quickly denied having even spotted you.
"Well that's too bad, because here she comes right now," sure enough you had seen the leader with his son, Ao'nung and had started over in their direction when you saw the big was hurt.
Ao'nung could only feel himself freeze as you closed the distance fast, suddenly reaching out to grab his hand as he tried to back away,
"H-hey! What are you doing?!" Ao'nung flinched as you pressed on his finger, the one he'd cut being too caught up looking at you. You never said anything, just brought out a healing leaf from your hip pouch and wrapped his finger quickly and efficiently.
"Thank you," he mumbled, you smiled and let go of his hand, signing to him, 'Would you like to play after training?' It had puzzled him why you didn't just ask out loud, but after looking to his father for assurance, he nodded to you causing you to smile and nod, turning back the way you'd come and headed away.
"Father, why didn't she just ask me?" Ao'nung questioned, looking up at Tomowari who smiled sadly at him, "she is deaf my son, she cannot speak for she never learned how, she cannot hear you," Ao'nung didn't feel any different towards you, maybe more curious, but he never felt like you were weird.
~.~
After that day many years ago, Ao'nung had grown, and so did his love for you. What started out as amazement and adoration as children, had since grown into feeling as if you were the only one for him.
The way you helped his sister with day to day chores, such grace and beauty weaving baskets and collecting herbs for his mother. The complete definition of selfless as you taught the children of the clan their sign, who else but you with your patience and grace.
The tingles you left on his body when you would tap his hand, shoulder, arm, anything to get his attention. You left him yearning for your attention day and night. Left him in agonizing pain at the thought of having you with him under the stars but couldn't.
Yourself however, would be a prize to any fine young Na'vi, but to your own self image you were at the bottom of the food chain. Your biggest insecurity being your deafness. You would never hear your mates words of love and comfort, would never hear the giggles of your own future children should Great Mother bless you with any.
You never had anyone express interest in you, although Ao'nung made sure of that, not that you knew. He always glared, growled or warned any man who looked in your direction. He made sure to linger a hand on your waist while talking, a smug look over his shoulder at the hunters who had tried to talk to you, a smirk at the Ilu keepers who tried to get to close.
When the Sullys had arrived, you had been busy helping Ronal with her duties as she was trusting you to take over while she got ready to give birth.
You didn't get to see Tsireya and Ao'nung as often as they were busy with teaching the new comers the traditions and expectations of the clan.
'(Y/N) go fetch Ao'nung, he should be down on the beach,' Ronal requested, you nodded, standing from your sitting position and heading out of the Marui, starting your trek to the beach.
You had found a few flowers on your way, taking a moment to pluck them from the ground and arranged them nicely. Maybe Ao'nung would like something to help brighten his mood.
Stopping once you reached the beach, you felt your eyes widen in disbelief as Ao'nung and his friends were surrounding Kiri, pointing at her and laughing. Kiri was clearly uncomfortable and trying to walk away, luckily Lo'ak came and started to intercept the boys, only they turned their hateful ways onto him.
You felt your fists clench up, nervously twisting the flowers. You started walking in that direction, Neteyam showing up as well from beside you, making yourself known too.
Ao'nungs ears pressed back, his body feeling hot with embarrassment that you'd caught him being rude to someone.
"Oh look, big brother to the rescue-" Ao'nung reached his hand out, silencing his friend who bowed his head obediently. "I need you to respect my sister from now on," Neteyam threatened, his eyes glaring into Ao'nung who nodded, trying to ease the anxiety in his chest as you approached too.
You tapped Kiris hand, the girl turning to you as you looked her over, as she tried to calm you down, 'I'm fine, no harm done,' she assured, you face turning into one of doubt but giving up in the end.
The three siblings went to walk away, but Lo'ak suddenly turned around and went back to Ao'nung, his smirk and quirked eyebrow making you upset a little. Why was he acting this way? Was he really this mean to them?
Ao'nung didn't know what had happened when Lo'ak punched him, one second he was standing and the next on the floor with his friends helping him up. They all jumped Lo'ak who held his ground to the best of his abilities, but soon found his brother Neteyam jumping in to help him.
You gasped, hands covering your mouth in disbelief, the flowers falling into the sand forgotten. Why were they doing this? 'Kiri, we need to stop them' you told her, but even she could only look on in a mix of horror and laughter.
Deciding that enough was enough, you inserted yourself into the fight, Ao'nungs friends quickly backing away as you pulled them off.
Neteyam hadn't seen you enter the fight, when he felt his shoulder get touched he quickly turned and went to punch the person, barely being able to stop himself before he hit you.
You had flinched inward, arms raised quickly to protect yourself, eyes shut incase of pain. "(Y/N)!" Ao'nung threw himself to you, shoving Neteyam out of the way, his hands gently grabbing yours to bring them down.
You squeaked, the cutest sound Ao'nung had ever heard, and opened your eyes to see Ao'nung checking you for injuries despite his cheek being bruised and lip busted. His eyes held fear and worry, hands moving from your arms to gently hold your face.
An adult nearby had brought his father and Toruk Makto, but he didn't care for the shouts that were happening, he could only focus on you. He brought his hands into view, 'You okay?' Ao'nung questioned, though your face contorted into worry as you held his face, feeling bad when he flinched from your thumb brushing his cheek.
He grabbed your hand and held it at his side as he turned to Neteyam, "Don't you ever touch her again!" If it hadn't been for his father pulling him away with you in tow, he would've attacked the oldest sibling.
"Maybe don't start things your girlfriend tries to finish!" Lo'ak yelled back, getting dragged away by his own father.
Upon entering the Marui, his mother hit him upside the head, "skxqwng! You brought (Y/n) into this?! I pray for the resilience to not break your bones!" Ao'nung averted his mother and fathers gaze, his head down as he couldn't even look to you either. Ashamed you had caught him at his worst moment.
"I leave (Y/n) to take care of your wounds, Great Mother help you find some sense!" Ronal hissed, Tonowari leading her out of the Marui to give you two some privacy.
You slowly walked over, placing a hand on his arm, Ao'nung letting you lead him to the mat and both of you sitting down facing eachother.
'What were you thinking?' You inquired, waiting for his reply as you began to mix a paste together. 'I wasn't thinking, but they deserved it, freaks all of them' he huffed, sucking it back in when you roughly applied the paste to his cheek.
His eyes found yours as you stared at him with hurt, 'What does that make me then? I cannot hear, I cannot speak well, they can communicate freely, I have to look for eyes and attention,'
Ao'nung felt his throat constrict, his hands clamy. You were so beautiful in his eyes, but the way he treated them made you think ill of yourself and that's not want he wanted.
You looked down, eyes glossy from unshed tears. His hand on your chin made you look at him, your lip trembling as your ears pressed back.
Ao'nung let go and signed only one word, but it made your body erupt in flames.
'Beautiful'

Since the incident with the boys on the beach, Ao'nung tried to be kind in your presence when the sullys were around but when the opportunity to trick Lo'ak revealed itself, he couldn't help it.
When he returned though and found you looking at him with those eyes again. Eyes filled with pain and now disappointment, he knew had to do the right thing.
'I'm sorry,' he apologized, finding you alone by the beach later that night. You turned from him, arms crossed. You weren't going to look at him or reply.
He fell to his knees in front of you, grasping at your hands desperately. You huffed, eyes glaring into him. Ao'nung used to pray he would never see that day you gave him that look, but after what he'd done to Lo'ak he could say he deserved it.
Hands trailing from your hands down to your elbows, he slowly let go and began to speak, "I'm sorry, I know I've been stupid and they don't deserve that, I'm not sure what I was thinking," Ao'nung kept his eyes trained on yours, watching you look exhausted.
"Why risk the danger? What if he'd gotten hurt? Or worse, you," you felt your lips pull back in a snarl, though he could only find pleasure in the fierceness of your face. His heart beat fast knowing you cared about him.
"I wish you would think with this," you placed your hand on his chest, feeling his erratic heartbeat, "not with this," you playfully pushed his forehead, a smile appearing on your lips. You couldn't stay mad at him, not when he smiled at you as softly as he did now.
He grasped your hand, bringing it back to his chest. You felt your own speed up to match his, both of you filled with deep affection for one another, not that the other knew.
You both stared at eachother for what felt like hours, yet only a few minutes had passed, just enjoying eachothers company.
When you had broken out of your daydream however, you quickly pulled your hand away and stood up, eyes darting everywhere but him as you shakily signed, "we shouldn't be doing this, I have to go,"
Ao'nung couldn't stand fast enough when you pulled away, tripping over the sand as you ran. Everything had just been perfect, what had happened?

You helped Ronal to sit, her stomach slowly getting bigger as the days went on. "Baby is good?" You wondered, a grin on your face of excitement as she nodded, her own smile gracing her features.
'Baby is strong, maybe a boy like Ao'nung,' she replied, you nodding in agreement, 'Ao'nung differently is strong,'
'Yes, he will be a great Olo'eyktan, if only he hurry and choose his Tsahìk,' she let her eyes slip to your figure out of the corner of her sight, seeing you quickly look down and away. Not out of embarrassment it seemed, but out of disappointment.
Ronal frowned, she did not like seeing you so hurt, especially by her own child, lest he be stupid enough to do it.
Ronal placed her hand on your cheek, bringing your face back up to make eye contact with her, 'why do you look so sad? What has happened?'
You tried to brush her off, 'it's nothing, I'm sure whoever he chooses will make a lovely Tsahìk,' you began to ramble, hands moving quickly, 'Ney`ite is the best diver, Alyara is known to sing beautifully, from what I've seen and been told,'
'He deserves someone who can help him feel better on rough days, someone who can actually listen and help with his problems, who loves and cherishes him as he is,'
Ronal tapped your hand, causing you to heat up in realization, you'd been rambling for too long. 'Someone, like you?' She quirked her brow, a knowing smirk on her face.
You shook your head, eyes feeling glossy with tears, 'what do I have to offer him?' You felt a hiccup erupt in your throat from trying to hold in your sobs, 'I cannot listen to his problems, I cannot comfort our children with words when crying, no one would look to me, Eywa may love me as she created me, but surely Ao'nung loves another,'
Ronal felt her eyes catch the sight of a figure standing behind you. Ao'nung could only stand frozen as he saw what you thought of yourself. He's never loved anyone like he loves you, and it's his fault for making you think otherwise.
Ronal grasped your hands firmly, shaking her head at you. Ronal reached a hand for Ao'nung who walked over, his shadow startling you as you looked upwards, his face looking hurt by your own tears.
Ronal placed your hand in his, his fingers gripping your own softly but firm, like a silent promise to never let go.
The Tsahìk bowed in exiting the Marui, leaving both of you alone.
Ao'nung knelt to face you, your cheeks hot with humiliation that he had to see you like this. You tried to look elsewhere but he placed his hand on your cheek, turning your face towards him.
He let go, feeling a moment of Deja Vu as he thought back to two nights ago by the water. When you both had been just as close in the sand.
"You are not less than anyone here," he signed, feeling his heart excelerate with emotion.
'(Y/n), I don't need to hear your voice to know your words are strong and kind, I don't need your words of comfort when your touches are enough,' he placed your hand on his chest, just as he did those nights ago. He hoped you would feel his heart that's beating full of love for you.
You could only feel a bizarre rush of emotions, anger at yourself for letting Ao'nung find out this way, fear in what is to come, yet, love from knowing he felt the same as you did.
'I'm sorry you did not see yourself as adequate when you are more than I could ever dream, the love you hold for our clan speaks words where your lips may fail,'
You felt your lips quiver, tears falling down your face as you tried to hold yourself together.
'I see you, (Y/n), and I would love for you to become my Tsahìk, my mate,'
You laughed, 'I would love to spend my life with you, I see you, Ao'nung,' you pressed your forehead to his, his own tear or two slipping from his eye as you both enjoyed this moment of peace together.
He raised both hands to your face, cupping your head as he brought your lips to his, the soft, plush feeling of your lips nearly driving him mad with desire. Your own hand finding home on his chest and shoulder as you felt weak from lack of air.
Pulling away, you made him stand up with you, his eyes showing curiosity. You smirked at him, 'Wanna go somewhere more private?' Ao'nungs silence spoke for itself as he dragged you out of the Marui, right past his parents who had a sudden look of realization.
"Oh Great Mother," Ronal sighed exasperated, "Looks like our youngest will be close in age to our grandchild," Tonowari mumbled, flinching from Ronal who began to hit him from saying such words, "skxqwng!"
