Just picture this scenario with Goober and the Ghost Chasers:
Given the location of the Clown Motel in Tonopah, NV being next to the Tonopah Cemetery (and its reputedly being haunted, particularly with victims of a diptheria outbreak as are buried there), imagine the crew staying at the aforementioned Clown Motel ... and Gilly managing to catch some spectral activity from within the Tonopah Cemetery from the motel balcony (and has a few photographs thereof).

another blurb from The Nightmare Factory
Nightmare Factory Masterlist Clown!Eddie art
Another step in Eddie's journey to find the Nightmare Factory job that will entice you to want to get to know him. A lot of you darlings came through with a handful of fun, creative requests, and I'm excited to keep them going through spooky season! I will also be using others that were mentioned in this particular ask, and always happy to receive more! I stayed at the Clown Motel once and lived to tell. There really is a cemetery right next to it, no lie. wc: 1.5k
18+ONLY, mature themes, nightmares, clowns, longing
The Clown Motel in Tonopah, Nevada gave you the creeps, but all you needed was a quick bed for the night, and $65 was about all you could afford.  There was an old cemetery next to the property, and if you didn’t know any better, you would’ve assumed it was all a staged setup to add to the spooky appeal of the motel.  But, no—the headstones were all very real, dating back to the late 1800’s.
You saw him when you first came in—he was impossible to miss.  The life-sized clown doll dressed in colorful stripes with a wide mouth and round, rubber nose.  He sat in the middle of a square nook filled with clown dolls of all shapes and sizes.  Some were ceramic, some were cloth.  Some were wood, carved to look like a nutcracker.  The big clown had one hand in his lap and one hanging down his side, and his eager eyes sought you in a way that made you avert your attention until you were done checking in.
Your room was on the second tier and you took some time to get cleaned up before calling over to the restaurant across the way to order some food.  On you way back across the street, clutching the styrofoam container in your hand, you caught a glimpse of something bright in the cemetery.
It was dusk, and you wondered if maybe it was someone visiting one of the burial sites.
But, with a muffled scream you noticed—for a split second—that it was the same clown doll from the lobby standing like a statue by one of the headstones.
It was watching you, leering at you, and it lifted its arm in a stiff wave as the wind blew back the silk of his costume.
You blinked and choked, and when you focused on the spot in the distance again—the clown was no longer there.
Eddie materialized in the cemetery to get a better look at where you were, and then he tripped over his floppy shoes and almost impaled himself on a handmade, wooden cross.
He cursed under his breath, wondering why he chose Haunted Clown Doll over some type of apparition so that he could be near you without making you uncomfortable.  First of all, he thought having a physical body would solve the communication problem, but of course—the clown’s face couldn’t move, and his voice came out as not much more than a mocking cackle.
Second, it was only a three day training, and most of it was just watching safety videos about how to walk in the shoes.  They also taught him to sit for a while, and then stand in the corner, and then hover near the bed when the person having the nightmare least expected it.
They repeated a lot of the same shit at the training, and when he crossed his arms over his chest to sink back in his chair, he started to fall asleep.
He snorted awake with a start when the teacher—-a professional Nightmare Clown with a gaping maw of sharp teeth and a bright green wig—-barked his name.
“Sorry,” Eddie said groggily.  “I’m listening.”
“Is that right?” The teacher clown also had cat’s eyes for pupils and a polka dot jumper with ruffles at the wrists and blood stains across the front.  “Indulge the rest of the class and tell me what the last rule was I just went over.”
The “class” consisted of 3 unfortunate souls, including Eddie.
Eddie could not contain the yawn that stretched his mouth, so he spoke while it was happening.  “Going under the covers,” he answered.  “When the person puts their head under the covers, they are safe, and we can’t touch them or scare them.”
“Exactly, now, how do we keep them from going under the covers?”
Eddie must’ve blanked out on that one.  “Um, we can’t?”
The teacher heaved a weary sigh, cocking their head.  “Distractions, Munson. Doors that fly open, a face in the window, whispers in their ear.”
This was all beginning to sound way above his pay grade, and he wasn’t interested in being the best student or the best employee—he just wanted to see you again.
He should’ve dematerialized before you caught a glimpse of him from across the street, but some insane part of him hoped you might recognize him—even though you’d never seen his actual form, and he was dressed like a literal clown this time.
A car honked, jolting you from your reverie, and as you jogged the rest of the way into the parking lot, your eyes darted around, hoping to god that you would not see the clown again.
On your way to the stairs, you passed by the glass front to the lobby, and found yourself looking in to make eye contact with the clown doll again.  Its eyeballs were painted on, but somehow—you felt like they were watching you, as if someone were looking through from the other side.  Both of its hands were in its lap, now, and its shoulders were hunched; big, oversized red shoes planted on the floor; short, frizzy orange hair sticking out of a floppy sleeping cap.
You went up and watched some lame sitcoms while you ate your dinner, and you tried to forget about the inanimate clown doll that was gnawing at your brain.
Eddie noticed how you took the time to check in on him on the way to your room, and his heart leapt.  And then, he thought he was the one dreaming when he watched you descend the stairs and return to the lobby a few hours later.
The night manager popped his head out to ask if you needed any help, but you confessed you were only there to look at the clowns.
One in particular.
You made your way over to stand at his side and covertly whispered in his ear.  “Was that you out in the cemetery today?”
Eddie’s clown hand fell from his lap to sway at his side, making you jump back, eyes widening at the coincidence.
When you found the nerve, you leaned closer, inspecting the wide, painted smile on his porcelain face, the brown of his irises.
You were so close, Eddie could smell you.  You radiated fresh lavender and coconut hand lotion and a tang of garlic from the dinner you just ate.  He watched your lips move as you whispered to yourself, something about, “where have I seen this clown before?”
Eddie couldn’t speak though, he could only chuckle, and he didn’t think it was the right time.
The body of the doll was so lifelike; you had to feel it for yourself.  With a shaky hand, you reached out to touch his shoulder—it wasn’t soft like stuffing, it was hard, like a store mannequin.  You bent down to squeeze the thigh, finding that it was made of the same solid material.
Eddie could feel everything, the way you were caressing him. On his plane of existence, he parted his lips and let his eyes roam over your face.  Oh, what he wouldn’t give to be able to kiss you.
You bought some souvenirs—-a shot glass and a mug for your mom—and then returned to your room for the night.
It took you a while to get to sleep, but when you finally dozed off to the point that your body jerked from an imaginary fall, clown Eddie was sitting in the chair in the corner.  The maniacal smile stretched across his face was locked in place—his eyes unblinking as they stared across the room at you.
You rolled over with a groan, pulling the covers closer to your chin as you went.
Eddie materialized at the side of the bed, at your back, tilting his head, wishing he could crawl in and put his arms around you.  He’d take his big, stupid shoes off first.
The next morning, you woke up refreshed, and busied yourself around the motel room getting ready for the last leg of your road trip, oblivious to the way Eddie had been standing at the foot of your bed all night.
After your suitcase was in the car, you went to drop the key off at the front desk, and noticed the life-sized clown was no longer therr.  You went over to inspect the area: its chair between the shelves of smaller clowns was gone too.  There was not a trace of it, as if it had vanished.
“Hey, so, where did you put the huge clown that was down here?” You asked politely as you passed the man your key.
He squinted at you, a bit confused.  “Huge clown, you mean the nutcracker ones?”
“No, the really big one,” you turned to point to the area where it had been.  “It was taller than me with enormous red shoes, a really creepy smile.  It was sitting right over there when I checked in yesterday.”
The man bent forward over the desk to see where you were pointing, even though he had no idea what  you were babbling about.
“We’ve never had a clown that size,” he assured you. “But I wish we did. It sounds like something from a nightmare.”

with: @gabyharrisonx where: tonopah cemetery, nice and morbid
Nate had been trying to make more of an effort to visit his mom's - as well as sister's grave - more often since he dipped from doing so up until several months ago. Whilst he shouldn't, he just felt guilty for not making more of an effort and sure, that was all in his own head, and yet that was where the last day or two he had been stuck. He had found a keepsake of Cassie's, one that he didn't even realise he had and that discovery just pushed him onto that line of thought of him never doing enough for her. It wasn't necessarily by choice, yet he was there and couldn't shift himself away from it.
Walking on that familiar path towards the headstones he found himself pausing at the sight of Gaby, it's out of brief surprise and even more so considering she was laying flowers. His brow arched briefly as he moved towards the bench he had gotten with Logan, sitting down all he can do was wonder what she was doing. It was his curiosity, one that hadn't gotten the better of him yet as he stayed silent. He was also realising in that moment it had been a couple of weeks since he had seen Gaby - it could have been longer, but Nate wasn't exactly crossing off days on a calendar.

💐 once you receive this lovely bouquet of flowers you have to mention five things you love, publicly, and send it to 10 of your favorite followers if you want. SPREAD POSITIVITY! ⛅️🥩💜
Why is there a random steak emoji 💀 Okay but seriously.
1. @survivingandenduring of course!! Grateful to call you a friend 💜
2. Animals! I’ve been an animal nerd as long as I can remember. My favorites are dogs and reptiles (specifically snakes, yeah yeah, get over it). I’ve had pretty much every kind of pet you can think of and before my health got to be too bad I was actually a Certified Professional Dog Trainer but those days are long behind me now although I do miss it on occasion.
3. This fandom. As corny as it sounds and as dramatic as it can be at times (always really lol), I’ve made some incredible friends by being here, and that’s what matters more than anything to me. I was so sad and lonely before joining the Pedro Pascal fandom, a shell of a person really, and now I have more friends than I know what to do with! Love all of you sm 💜
4. Coffee. My blood type is coffee, gimme gimme gimme. Starbucks > everyone else. I’m drinking coffee right now and when you’re chatting to me I’m probably drinking it then too. COFFEE.
Tumblr media
5. Spooky shit. If there’s a destination I’m traveling to, I’m looking up creepy shit I can do there like ghost tours and cemeteries. Ghosts, zombies, vampires, werewolves, demons, possessions, serial killers, aliens, cryptids, unexplained phenomena, mysterious and unexplained deaths, scary movies etc are my cup of tea. I actually have a bucket list of spooky destinations I’d love to visit, and yes it even includes the Clown Motel in Tonopah, NV. So if you ever vacation with me just be aware of this fact and we’ll get along fine 💅

tonopah, nv cemetery 🪦 (right next to the clown motel)
this was actually really interesting to walk through. the graves are from early 1900s and a lot of the people buried there were from early mining-related accidents or the “tonopah plague” (which was basically just pneumonia / other sicknesses bc of unsanitary living conditions)
most of the headstones have the cause of death listed so you can read about them, and the cemetery also has a website and pamphlet that has more info about the people buried there and specific historical figures of the town itself that are buried there as well :-)

WHO: @logandonovan LOCATION: Cassie's funeral at Old Tonopah Cemetery
Beau knew the relationship between Logan and Cassie had never been a good one, but it felt important to him to be there for her regardless, even if it was as someone to vent to about why everyone was so torn up over the death: whatever she needed from him, he would be it. That was always how things had been between the two of them, and even though they were no longer together, that wasn't going to stop.
He stuck to the back of the group of people, not wanting to intrude on the moment or make his presence a spectacle of any kind, but as the funeral was beginning to wrap up, he noticed Logan separating herself from her family and disappearing around the back of the abandoned church on the property. His concern grew and he slipped away as well, following her trail until he found her stopped beneath an old weeping willow. "Lo? You okay?"

What will happen to the oldest USAF F-22s if Congress approves their retirement?
Some jets may become monuments in front of some military bases.
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 04/30/2023 - 19:28 in Military
If Congress agrees to the U.S. Air Force's request to start the retirement of the older F-22s, 32 Block 20 fighters will have a little more flight time and then follow an equal destination of many U.S. military aircraft.
The retirement of the USAF F-22s is to be approved as part of the 2024 fiscal budget. The fifth-generation fighters will still be used as trainers for some more time and then stored for an indefinite period at Davis-Monthan Air Base, along with the Maintenance and Regeneration Group (AMARG), the aircraft cemetery known as "Boneyard" in Arizona, the Air Combat Command said.
Eventually, they will be discarded by USAF personnel and contractors with experience in disposing of stealth materials.
Tumblr media
F-15 fighters stored in AMARG.
“Specific plans for disposal are being developed,” said an ACC spokesman.
“However, if Congress approves the divestment, there are several possibilities for the retired aircraft, including long-term storage in AMARG,” the spokesman said. "Until the final divestment decision is made, the Air Combat Command is bringing the aircraft to the Joint Langley-Eustis Base (Virginia), where they will continue to perform the formal training mission of the F-22."
Tumblr media
Aerial view of the B-52 Stratofortress bombers at the Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Center, commonly known as "Boneyard", in 1977. Hundreds of B-52s were destroyed as part of the 1991 Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty and sold as scrap for 12 cents a pound.
The service expects some of the aircraft to arrive at museums or possibly as "gate guards" set up for display, but these decisions still need to be made. The U.S. Air Force did not say if it could use some of the aircraft as maintenance trainers, although it has used some destroyed aircraft for this purpose in the past.
The U.S. Air Force is storing its stealthy F-117 attack fighters in the hangars from where they originally operated in Tonopah Test Range, Nevada, but the ACC said the F-22s will not need storage in an air-conditioned facility and will be stored in AMARG "using preservation processes very similar to legacy aircraft".
Tumblr media
These processes usually involve removing any explosive devices, such as rockets from the ejector seat; passing a preservative oil through fluid lines; closing openings so that animals and birds do not nest on the aircraft; and covering the cabin, entrances and exhaust with a spray latex preservative to reduce the effects of the sun and heat.
AMARG has already explored the construction of air-conditioned facilities to store fifth-generation aircraft, both to preserve its stealth materials and to add extra protection in Davis-Monthan, despite its fences and active security, experienced invasions and theft of items from its extensive outdoor storage facilities.
If the F-22s are discarded, it will be the first time that a significant number of stealth aircraft will go through this process. The issue is delicate, as the U.S. Air Force has suffered lawsuits from contractors and service personnel who got sick when they were involved in or near the burning of toxic stealth materials at the classified USAF facilities in Groom Lake and elsewhere.
Tumblr media
The process for the F-22 will also set a precedent for the B-2 bomber when this aircraft retires around 2030, and the rest of the F-22 fleet will also retire around that year.
The USAF proposed to retire the F-22s from training in its budget request for fiscal year 2024, because they no longer accurately represent Block 35 of the front line, which is the version coded and configured for fighter combat. Instead, they are only for training purposes, and service officers said they are so different from the frontline version that they produce “negative training,” which means that students need to unlearn the bad habits acquired in the unenhanced aircraft.
Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall said it would cost more than $50 million per plane to upgrade the configuration from Block 20 to Block 35, and much more to operate them and keep them common to the rest of the fleet before the F-22 retires. The U.S. Air Force said it will apply all the savings obtained from the withdrawal of the aircraft to develop the successor to the F-22, the Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) family of systems.
Tumblr media
The divestments aim to “focus on the future struggle” and on the NGAD, said the spokesman for the Air Combat Command, who added that the ACC has not yet decided what type of storage category will be applied to the F-22. AMARG traditionally divides the aircraft it stores into approximately four categories:
Type 1000: The aircraft will be stored, but not cannibalized for the parts, with the chance of someday being called back to service. However, they are not activated periodically to run their systems.
Type 2000: Aircraft are sources of cannibalization of parts, but not destroyed in the process and potentially restorable to service.
Type 3000: Aircraft in "temporary" storage, fully expected to return to flight status and operate at least every 30 days. These aircraft may not even leave the runway yard. "Fleable storage", a related category, requires long-term storage, with representative aircraft connected and flown periodically, mainly to keep a small group of pilots proficient in their operation. The F-117 is in "flyable storage", but some have been summoned to act as stealth opponents in USAF war games and test scenarios.
Type 4000: Harvested for all usable parts, then discarded for their valuable materials, such as titanium.
The ACC said that the F-22 program office requested funds from its Weapons System Support accounts under "Centralized Asset Management" to "introduce the F-22s into long-term storage in AMARG". These funding requests are not included in the USAF budget justification books, and the ACC cannot say how much funding has been requested for this purpose.
There are plans, the command said, to “train and equip AMARG personnel to successfully preserve and store” the retired F-22s.
Tumblr media
Four U.S. aircraft representing decades of aeronautical development: F-4 Phantom, F-15 Eagle, F-117 Nighthawk and F-22 Raptor.
The "demilitarization" of the aircraft - removing hazardous materials, explosives, gases, etc. - "and the disposal will be a joint effort between AMARG and the authorized disposal facilities of fifth-generation contractors with experience in handling hazardous materials from aircraft," said the ACC spokesman.
Congress ordered the U.S. Air Force to keep the F-117 fleet in “viable storage” in case they were needed in times of war. Other aircraft that were placed in Type 2000 storage were returned to service as target drones up to 20 years after being retired.
