Who Performs a Tongue Release?
Tumblr media
A lactation consultant examines a newborn and suggests cutting the baby's tongue tie to ease breastfeeding. This quick procedure, called a frenotomy, involves snipping the tight band of tissue connecting the tongue to the bottom of the mouth.
Ankyloglossia (tongue-tie) is common and can cause problems for infants during feeding. If the baby has difficulty latching and transferring milk, it can lead to weight loss, anemia and other health issues. A frenectomy can help improve breastfeeding and speech development for children, as well as reduce oral health issues in adulthood.
However, if an underlying condition is impacting a child's ability to feed or speak, it should be evaluated before considering a tongue-tie release. A comprehensive feeding evaluation with a multidisciplinary team is often needed to make sure that the tongue-tie is not the only problem.
Tumblr media
Ideally, the person performing the frenectomy should have an appropriate scholarly background in order to understand the implications of the surgery. Depending on the scope of practice, this could include a pediatrician, dentist, or otolaryngologist (Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor). It is also important for practitioners to be trained in one of the frenectomy tools that are available — scissors or lasers.
If a tongue-tie release is necessary, the practitioner should perform it with precision and care. A poorly performed frenectomy can result in permanent symptoms, so it's vital that the provider is up to date on best practices. In addition, the person performing the procedure should have experience with infants and breastfeeding.
Immediately following the surgery, a lactation consultant or experienced dentist at Gateshead Dental should assess a baby's mouth and breastfeeding to determine if the tongue-tie is causing problems. A tongue-tie is usually evident when the tongue cannot extend past the lips or appears notched or heart-shaped, and it can cause pain during nursing or poor milk transfer.
Tumblr media
For adults who have a tongue-tie, we often recommend working with a myofunctional therapist to help prepare them for a release and address any underlying oral reflexes or dysfunction that might be contributing to the symptoms. This can be done in person or via teletherapy, and helps the individual to get their tongue and lip muscles ready for the freedom of a looser frenulum. Without myofunctional therapy, it is like having knee surgery and never doing physical therapy — the recovery will not be as successful.

Tongue-Tie: What It Is and How It's Treated | Dr. Bhavesh Doshi | Pediatric Surgeon in Mumbai
youtube
In this informative video, Dr. Bhavesh Doshi, a renowned Pediatric Surgeon in Mumbai, sheds light on tongue tie, a common condition that affects children.
He explains how tongue tie can lead to delayed speech or slurring of speech due to the inability to protrude the tongue beyond a particular part of the mouth, and how this condition can be corrected through a simple surgical procedure using a Bipolar Cautery device.
Dr. Doshi emphasizes that the surgery should be performed at around 8 to 10 months of age when the child is learning to speak, and that older children may require speech therapy for complete correction of their speech.
With over a decade of experience in the field, Dr. Doshi's expertise in pediatric surgery and his passion for educating people about common childhood conditions make this video a must-watch for parents and caregivers.

Tongue-Tie Release
Some babies with tongue-tie appear to be unaffected by it. In others, it can restrict tongue movement, making breastfeeding more difficult. Tongue-tie is sometimes detected during a newborn physical examination, but it is not always obvious. It may not be obvious until your baby has feeding difficulties. A tiny, barely noticeable extra bit of tissue under their tongue may be one reason some babies have more difficulty breastfeeding. This is known as tongue-tie, and it can make breastfeeding more difficult for both of you.
The following are signs and symptoms of tongue-tie:
Their tongue appears shorter.
Difficulty sticking their tongue out.
When they move forward, the tip of their tongue appears heart-shaped or is shaped differently.
When they lift their tongue, it appears to be pulled downward in the centre.
Their tongue is too short to reach the roof of their mouth.
Tongue-Tie Surgery-
Previously, healthcare providers advised tongue-tie surgery as soon as a newborn was diagnosed. They did so because they believed it would help with breastfeeding issues. Tongue-tie treatment is debatable. Some doctors and lactation consultants advise correcting it as soon as possible, even before the newborn is discharged from the hospital. Others prefer to wait and see what happens.
The lingual frenulum may gradually loosen, resolving tongue-tie. In some cases, tongue-tie does not cause any problems. Breast-feeding can be helped in some cases by consulting with a lactation consultant, and speech therapy with a speech-language pathologist can help improve speech sounds.
Here are some Benefits of Tongue-tie Surgery-
May help improve breastfeeding problems
Babies may feed better and gain weight more quickly post-surgery
May prevent nipple pain for nursing parents
May prevent dental problems later in life
May prevent speech problems later in life
Recovery after the surgery-
Healing and recovery from tongue-tie surgery are determined by the type of tongue-tie your baby has and the type of surgery required to treat it. Some procedures may require more time to heal, causing a further delay in breastfeeding. Likewise, your child may find it easier to breastfeed right after surgery.
Tongue-tie is a minor condition that occurs in some newborns at birth. In some cases, it causes no problems at all. Other babies may have difficulty breastfeeding. Later in life, tongue-tie can cause problems such as difficulty speaking or changes in the shape of the mouth. Tongue-tie Surgery is a minor procedure that can aid in breastfeeding for some babies.
A Pediatric Surgeon can advise you on the best treatment for your child and provide you with best treatment.

Yosuke blinked as he was pulled into suddenly and easily righted himself in the split second before Hana was kissing him. He was glad to have vampiric speed in these moments so his old clumsiness was practically non-existent.
After returning the passionate kiss, He let out a content sigh before clearing his throat and remembering why he was there in the first place. He gently pushed his girlfriend back so he could hold up the bouquet of flowers to show her. He then grinned as he spoke. “I wanted to take you out!”
A beat later
He falters slightly as he realized how that could sound and quickly stuttered out. “O-On a date! I meant take you out. On a date... not like... ack.... N-Nevermind!” He covered his beat red face with his free hand as he inwardly kicked himself. Sadly vampiric speed didn’t help with his open mouth insert foot problem. in fact it has only made it worse in his personal opinion.

Tonguetied Release Alt-Pop Single, 'Lessons'
Tonguetied have dropped their latest single ‘Lessons’.Completely self-written and produced, ‘Lessons’ is the second glimpse into Tonguetied’s translucent world. AKA Elena Garcia, her songwriting is that of a diarist, treading a line between a direct and indirect gaze. This is emphasised by the vagueness in the press shots and visuals. The track is built around a fizzing, spectral electronic bed…

“you’re so stupid it kinda turns me on. “ (yosuke)
Yosuke blinked at his girlfriend before letting out a slightly embarrassed cough. "T-Thanks. I think?" He didn't really think he was that dumb but he was going to take this as a compliment. Though he was still under if it was but knowing Hanna... It was.
