I'm pretty vocal about my love of Doctor Who, but I rarely mention the other series that I fell in love with as a kid. The Tomorrow People was the first TV series that I recorded on VHS. When we finally got a computer and internet connection my junior year of high school (1998), it was the first internet rabbit hole I fell down. I had lost the tape since we moved 3 times between the original recording and then, and I was shocked that other people knew about this show. I found out there was another series from the 70s. I discovered webpages, fanfic, my very first listserv (I miss TPDIS), a tape tree (I still mildly panic over my mom being overprotective and sending a strongly worded email. Sorry Wendy), and a network of people who not only remembered The Tomorrow People but cared deeply about it. It was one hell of a rabbit hole especially for a 16 year old kid.

Posting quotes today is my way of coming out of lurk mode in the fandom. Even though today is about the OS, I'm still a NS fan first.

So while I'm a louder Whovian, I'm still a Tomorrow Person at heart.

Today I am reminded not just of the series, but of what I've gained from it over the years. For those of us who were on TPDIS, I've known you for 20+ years. We have been "there" for key moments of our lives - high school graduations, college graduations, weddings, birth of kids, funerals, book publications, film releases accomplishments big and small. We check in with one another when news looks like it might impact one of us. I made my second international trip because of this group when I went to the first TP dinner. And it was the first, and unfortunately last, time I got to see many of you in person. It was such an amazing experience, and I've come to realize it was my first convention ever.

Today reminds me that I'm not alone. It reminds me that we are still together remembering and keeping it alive. That though the fandom is small, it is capable of throwing a damn good party.

Amali Golden in the new Black Water: Abyss previously played one of Skurge's fans in Thor Ragnarok. She's also in the upcoming Monster Problems with Dylan O'Brien, Michael Rooker and Jessica Henwick. . Luke Mitchell played Lincoln on Agents of SHIELD. Before that he was on the CW's The Tomorrow People. More recently he was on Blindspot. . Jessica McNamee played the ex Jason Statham comes to save in The Meg. She was also the main cop in Sirens on the USA Network, who was dating the lead paramedic. She's also in next year's live action Mortal Kombat movie. . . Black Water: Abyss is about 5 spelunkers who run afoul of a hungry crocodile in an underground cave system. This is a tense thriller in the dark. Small cast so the kills are spaced far apart. Fairly basic, but awesome if you like crocodile movies.  . . This is a sequel to Black Water (2007) which is long out of print. The VOD is listed as Unavailable. You can find the DVDs and a Region 0 Blu Ray from Spain on eBay and/or Amazon, but not cheaply.
