016. fever
a/n:  another chapter from my Wonty “comfort fics “Dirty Little Secret”. As I mentioned from the previous chapter I posted few days ago, I’m just going to post some chapters which I enjoyed writing. So the number is the chapter of this fic, and this is the chapter 16, hence, 016. Enjoy reading! 🙈
Monty didn't sit next to me on our third. But if I'd be honest, I'm still salty about yesterday. I know I'm not in the place to do so…
Maybe I'm just hoping that somehow he cared about me since that's what he's starting to make me feel, and not let me hope for nothing.
Just because he apologized, and agreed to meet you in your place tomorrow, you thought he cared.
Ugh! whatever.
So when I caught him staring as I ate with Charlie that lunch, maybe I had been extra chatty towards the latter.
Yes, he joined me at lunch again, and with Alex this time. Unfortunately, Charlie just made himself look awkward. He obviously didn't know how to make a conversation with Alex, so he talked to me instead, which became favorable for me. Apparently, Alex got the wrong idea and thought that Charlie was hitting on me.
Oh, if only he knew.
I exchanged numbers with him since he asked for it, only to  bombard me with questions about Alex. I told him that I'm not some slam book or Alex's diary who's carrying all the information he wanted to know about him, so he should be the one making a move towards the guy himself. But he pleaded, for me to help him out at least, and enlighten him some basic things about my friend- he's been using the word to persuade me- like his favourite food, movie, color, hobbies and such, which I realized I didn't really have ample knowledge about. Though, I still promised to help him in any way I can, as a kindred spirit I am. Then I just learned that my friend and Zach wasn't like a real thing yet, but they have a thing. Well, relationships could be complicated.
And that's it, that's all I know about my 'so-called friend'.
So, I deemed it safe for Charlie to take his chances and make a move on Alex. Even giving him words of encouragement to do so. Go, Charlie!
By afternoon after class, since the Football practice had been cancelled due to Coach Kerba's absence, I spent it at Monet's, attempting to do some homework. I didn't ask Estella to come. I wanted to be alone with my thoughts for a while.
"Is this seat taken?"
I froze knowing the voice so well.
What's he doing here?
Looking up, I had to blink a few and asked myself if I'm dreaming. Then I glanced around before I nodded and let him sit with me, taking the seat in front of me.
We were quiet at first, me flipping through my notes. Pretending rather, as I found it hard to concentrate anymore with him around.
I cleared my throat and asked where Estella was. I wanted to reason that he couldn't come here all by himself, so he should be at least with his sister, but decided against it. He said she's having a night out with some friends.
I just hoped it's true and she's not with that guy, Gavin, somewhere. Perhaps, I'm starting to be protective of her too, and I caught myself sending a quick text to her asking where she was.
She replied: With Gavin.
I knew it.
I told her to be careful and to call me if she needed some help or just anything.
I turned back to Monty and asked him in a hushed tone, "What are you doing here?"
He let out a smirk and said, "What do you think?"
I looked  around, even though it's obvious that students from Liberty were everywhere in this little coffee shop. "I think we're not supposed to be here together."
He moved towards, resting his elbows on the table, his face quite dangerously close to mine and whispered, "We're working on a project." He held my gaze and gave a ghostly smirk, before leaning back to his chair. We were silent for a second as he lightly tapped his fingers on the table. Clearing his throat, he said, "By the way, I… apologized to Tyler."
Blinking, I looked at him in disbelief. Smile then stretched out my lips. I wanted to ask why, though I didn't want to sound like I doubt his sincerity. I wanted to believe he's wanting to change.
Then I caught Ani with Jessica from afar glancing our way.
I casually moved my gaze back to Monty. And focused down my homework. "People are looking," I whispered.
"Let them look," he said.
He, mayhap, asked me about Charlie's deal with me as he began pulling his own homework, suggesting for us to work together.
I said nothing. And changed the topic to where we are now… in my house.
We only had the place to ourselves. Our maid was out shopping for groceries, so it may take a while before she could come back.
We're settled in the living, flopped down on the couch.…watching some movies on Netflix. A bowl of popcorn between us. We both pretended to pay attention to the movie, when my hand, as I blindly grabbed a handful of popcorn, accidentally collided with Monty's, whose hands were already dipped in the bowl.
I stopped and turned to him. His gaze on me.
"Sorry," I pulled my hand away.
He sighed, taking his empty hands off the bowl, and shifted closer to me, enough to make my heart skip.
I just focused my eyes back on the show. It's a movie from the 80's, entertaining enough. Although, I know I would appreciate it more, but not with Monty around who had completely stolen my interest.
"Seriously, what's your deal with Charlie?" I heard him say.
I sat back, suppressing a smile. I couldn't believe he's not done with that talk yet. So he really wanted to know.
I turned to him, making sure I looked innocent. "I told you. None."
"Then why does he keep clinging to you?"
Clinging?
I looked away and decided to chew on some popcorn since I couldn't hold my smile anymore. Thanks, popcorn.
"Maybe he's just trying to be friendly," I reasoned after swallowing the popcorn down. Then I shifted, turning my body his way. "I think I should be the one asking you why your friend keeps on hanging around us."
He moved his eyes to me from the TV and I swear, I could stare at him all day, and wouldn't be tired. I began counting the freckles that scattered around his face.
"We're not really that kind of friends," he said. Then he snatched the bowl of popcorn from my hands to his lap.
I frowned. "Hey--"
"Trying to be friendly, eh?" he scoffed and shoved a handful of popcorn into his mouth and added, "Why don't I believe you?"
I grimaced. Couldn't believe he would show me his unethical side.
"Didn't your parents teach you not to speak when your mouth's full?"
It's too late when I realized what I said. I know his deal with his parents. Fuck you, Winston.
But then he smiled, and playfully threw a popcorn to my forehead.
Frowning, I touched where the popcorn hits. Okay, I think I deserved that.
"Why don't I believe you?" he said, but he's still smiling. It took me a second to realize that he just repeated what he said; maybe he thought I didn't understand him after speaking with his mouth full.
I decided to play dumb. "What do you mean?"
He just ignored me and continued on his rambling.
"Really, why?" This time he looked serious and held my gaze. "He isn't like…" he trailed off and moved his eyes to the side, looking away, "... trying to hit on you, right?" With reluctance, he moved his eyes back to me.
Hiding a smile, I turned to face the TV. "And… what if he does?... I mean, Charlie can be cute."
He scoffed, a loud one at that. I felt him shift, but I kept still, trying to make sense of the movie and failing.
"So you like him."
My skin jumped, feeling his breath close to my neck, his voice soft but clear against my ear.
I glimpsed at him, he's a little close with me, but still keeping a safe space between us. However, for me, it's dangerous.
I swallowed. "...I don't."
He scoffed again. "Oh yeah? Is that why you find him cute?"
"Just because I find him cute doesn't mean I like him. Give me back the popcorn."
"No, you get it yourself."
"Tell me why does it seem a big deal to you?" I turned to him, forgetting for a second how close he was, and now we're practically face to face. I held my breath, and froze in my place.
None of us moved. Our eyes silently travelled down to our face with our hitched breaths and racing hearts.
Damn. I wanted to kiss him. So. Fucking. Bad.
But I'm surprised how I'm still able to control myself; maybe it's the fear he'd punch me again.
Though, my mouth started to feel dry.
"Kiss me," he whispered against my lips, causing my heart to beat even faster as if it's possible.
My throat moved as I looked down his lips.
Slowly, I inched towards him, closing my eyes, until his dry trembling ones brushed against mine. I'm glad I wasn't the only one who's trembling. I didn't make a move and just teased our lips together, but that simple contact already caused us to inhale sharply. So we had to break off, when I felt him grab the back of my neck and pulled me back, crashing his chapped lips on mine.
He took in a deep breath, and stayed just like that, unsure what to do next. So I decided to take the lead.
Sliding my hands between us, I reached for his chin, opening our mouths, so I could have more access.
His breath hitched, making me smile, as I grazed my tongue, licking the dryness of his lips before I slid it in and explored his mouth. He inhaled once more and quivered against me. His hands were tight on my sides but I loved how he's holding me.
"Relax," I whispered as I continued drowning him with my fiery kisses. He softened and I gave him time to adjust until he's able to catch up with my kisses.
I inhaled, feeling his tongue poking against mine. Soon we're kissing like mad. Our breaths sharp with every stroke of our hungry lips. His hands grabbing my hair and my arms tight around his neck. Our bodies glued together, feeling the heat. We kissed as if our lives depended on it.
I moved my hips wanting to feel him and we tensed feeling how hard we were. He pressed his body more to mine as if it was possible, and felt him move, his hardness rubbing against my thigh, causing me to draw a breathless moan and suck on his lower lip. Our kisses became harder. Hungrier. Intense. And I'd never kissed anyone like this before.
I never knew he could be this passionate and I'm all here for it.
We only stopped to catch our breaths, but he soon collided his lips back to mine, and his kisses became slower but just as ardently.
I could feel myself wanting more, feeling him getting harder as he continued riding my thigh. I didn't notice that he already got me pinned under him, with my back on the couch.
The movie still played in the background as we continued kissing and grinding each other desperately.
"I want you…" he said, breathlessly, between feverish kisses; making me melt but even harder. Is that possible?
"Come on," I pushed him gently, and stood up. And impatiently led him to my bed room.
It only hit me that we were making out boldly in the living room. I'm just relieved our maid hasn't come back yet, or I didn't know what I'd do if she caught us screwing here. Though, the idea seemed thrilling.
We didn't waste any time and kissed as soon as we got to my room. I just managed to push the door. I didn't know if I was able to lock it. I didn't really care.
He shoved me on the bed, and crawled on top of me. I smiled and pulled him down as I brushed my tongue sensually against his parted lips. He smiled, kissing me before he sat up and yanked his top off. Then we began to help each other be free of our clothes; hands fumbled against the fabrics. We gasped as raging teenagers we are, whenever our heated skins made contact. And, I loved it. Loved the feel of his warmth and his weight over me, and how hard he was against my thigh, sending delicious shivers down my body.
Feeling suddenly bold,  I reached for his ass. And gave it a meaningful squeeze, earning a moan from him. The sound he made, did things to me. And I'm even more eager to hear them again.
We continued to fool around the bed, moaning and breathing each other's names like a song as the height of pleasure rose within us.

Mornings for you weren’t that bad. Actually, you kinda liked mornings (even if you slept late the night before). It’s always a bit cathartic for you when you’re able to wake up early enough to watch the world wake up before your eyes. Plus, the whole thing makes you feel a bit more productive for being able to wake up early. Though, some days are worse than others. Don’t let that deter you, though, sleeping in doesn’t make you any less productive. As long as everyone here is getting the right amount of sleep and not listen to what society deems as productive, you’re doing just fine.
Except, mornings are bad. For one reason only. Working the first shift meant preparing the shop an hour before it opened every morning.
Wake up at seven, lay in bed on your phone for a few minutes, set some music on your speakers, do a bit of morning yoga. Then brush your teeth, eat, get dressed, and pack your bag full of things you’d need for classes along with a change of clothes and it’s already nine. You liked to take your time getting ready in the morning. Get to the train station and clock in to work at ten.
But every morning, every god damn morning when you’d clock in at ten o’clock there’d be some sort of mess. The floor wasn’t mopped, maybe. Or the cups weren’t stacked in their rightful spots. Perhaps there were dishes left over that still needed cleaning. Or, mayhaps, the screens for the menu were left on for some reason? You could go on about it.
Whoever worked the night shifts was surely out to get you. You were sure of it. They just wanted to piss you off for no reason other than to make you hate mornings, because you’re one of the few that actually like mornings!
“I swear to god,” you mutter angrily, “I’m gonna murder the evening shift people.”
This morning, they decided to forget to mop the floors. Or rather, they forgot to do it last night.
“I feel like the more they glare at the floor, the floor’s going to get destroyed,” Yukie said, eating her onigiri as she sat on one of the chairs. She had already finished her morning duties.
Akaashi sighed, about to step in to take over before Bokuto bounded towards you instead.
“Hey, hey, hey! Let me mop the floors instead, we still got a few more minutes before the store opens so just relax!” Bokuto grinned at you, his hands outreached for the mop in your hands. Staring at him with his bubbly and energetic personality relaxed you. Of course, your fellow morning shift coworkers had a distaste towards whoever it was that left the place messy the night before, but you were the one that found it most frustrating. Considering the fact that you’ve left notes for them.
Taking a deep breath, you hand the mop to Bokuto and thank him before walking towards Akaashi who simply stood behind the counter with his hands clasped behind his back. His watchful eyes stayed on your form. The anger that was in you earlier had dissipated. Finally, Akaashi could relax instead of figuring out a way to keep you from aggressively making drinks.
“Do we know who even works the night shift?” You asked, fiddling with the laptop that played the music throughout the shop.
“Oikawa Tooru, Iwaizumi Hajime, Hanamaki Takahiro, and Matsukawa Issei,” Akaashi says off the top of his head. “You should really look at the schedule more often.”
You shoot a glare at Akaashi but he remains unfazed. But it surprises you that you didn’t know that pretty boy Oikawa Tooru was the one leaving a mess. Okay sure it can be one of the others or all four of them but the “pretty boy” never sat right with you with his fan club.
“Isn’t Oikawa-san that one pretty boy with a fan club on campus?” Yukie questioned, her onigiri long finished.
“Huh? Oh! Yeah! He plays volleyball with me,” Bokuto said, pushing the mop cart back to the janitorial closet. “I think he also played for his team back in high school. Aoba Johsai?” Akaashi nodded his head in confirmation.
You raise a brow at them, “Don’t you play volleyball Akaashi?” You slightly recall the times Yukie, Bokuto, and Akaashi have talked about going back to their high school to visit underclassmen or their training camps to see how Hinata and Tsukki were doing, whoever they were.
“Yes, but now that we’re in university I don’t play anymore, so I’ve never met Oikawa-san or the others.”
“Ah,” you slightly tilt your head back in realization. “That makes sense.”
A tapping on the door interrupted the conversation and all of your heads turn to the glass doors. It’s a customer, an older one, who simply points at his non-existent watch on his wrist.
“Oops, it’s time to open up shop,” Yukie declared and all four of you went into motion to get started for the day, music began to play through the speakers of the shop.
***
You were always the first of the four to leave from the first shift, since you had less of a gap between the end of the shift to the class you always had after. But fortunately, next semester you were able to find class times that better suited your schedule.
Sitting in the lecture hall, grabbing the necessary items you’d need for the next hour out of your bag, you see Konoha making his way over to you. You met him in one of your classes your first year, but found it surprising that he also happened to be friends with Bokuto and the others since high school.
But the first few sentences he said to you that day probably ruined your week.
“Did you check the schedule of classes?” Your scrunched up face gave him the answer he needed. “The next class for the physics series next semester was moved to the afternoon instead of evening, so you’re gonna have to change shifts.”
“What?!”
Letting out a loud groan, Konoha gave you a sympathetic look, knowing how much you hated the night shift people you always talked about.
***
Getting through the last part of the semester was difficult but not impossible. Sleepless nights spent at the library studying, cramming, working, and of course trying your best to keep calm while cleaning up the mess from the previous night shifts at Ding Tea. Oh right, and telling the manager you’ll be needing a change in shifts.
It worked out well, luckily one of the workers from the night shift also had to change schedules so you simply changed with them. Iwaizumi Hajime. From what you hear around campus, he’s the only one who can keep the reins on Oikawa. So you were wondering how in the world working with Oikawa was going to be like, especially without him.
Oikawa let out a whine on his way to work with his other three friends. Except, Iwaizumi was the only one not wearing the work clothes, considering he was heading to class instead.
“Iwa-chan, why did you have to switch shifts, now we have to deal with one of the morning shift workers.”
Iwaizumi rolled his eyes with a scowl on his face, “Shut it Crappykawa, there’s four of them so we don’t even know if this person in particular is the one leaving the mess.”
“Still! If I have to deal with cleaning up spilled boba from the floor again, I will-”
“What do you mean, I always end up cleaning the spilled boba,” Matsukawa comments. Iwaizumi whacks Oikawa on the back of his head, saying he had no right to complain if he wasn’t the one cleaning it up before he ended up needing to part from them.
“See ya,” Hanamaki and the others waved at him. “Wish us luck keeping Oikawa under control.”
“Just give him a good smack on the head, it’ll be fine,” Iwaizumi smirked and turned around, heading towards class. Hanamaki and Matsukawa exchanged glances, a silent conversation between the two of them as Oikawa spent the rest of the walk depressed and rubbing the back of his head. When they approached the store they saw you already inside, working diligently to prepare the shop, a few customers already coming by.
As the three boys head into the shop through the back to clock in, you immediately shoot them a glare. But most of it goes towards Oikawa, who gets the sudden chills down his spine.
“You’re late.”
Then a smile appears on your face, greeting the customers after you turn your head away from them.
“Well, this will be fun,” Hanamaki comments, grinning as he puts on his apron to help you out in the front.
Oikawa points towards you half-heartedly as he looks up to Matsukawa, “I feel like they already hate me, what did I do Mattsun?”
Matsukawa simply shrugs, “If Iwaizumi was here he’d just say it’s because of your fanclub.”
“They’re just jealous I have girls and boys and everyone else falling for me,” Oikawa turns his nose up, also heading towards the front since they all knew with his face in the front, they’d definitely get more customers.
***
“Stop making a mess Shitty-kawa! Clean it up next time!”
“Oi! Where’d you get that from? Iwa-chan?!”
--
“No one wants you here, Oink-kawa.”
“Wh-wha- Excuse me, we get more customers because of me. And Oink-kawa?!”
“Yeah, ‘cause you’re a pig.”
--
“You’re the one that made me hate mornings, and now I hate the entire day because I know I have to work with you!”
“You’re just jealous tha-”
“No.”
Matsukawa walked up to Hanamaki who was preoccupied on his phone. You, however, marched past Matsukawa and Hanamaki into the back with an angry huff. It was always entertaining to see the Iwaizumi and Oikawa argue, but the two of you had something... Different?
To be quite honest, the two of them were tired of your arguing, especially as the semester came to an end. And Iwaizumi was tired of hearing the two of them complain about you and Oikawa, and then Oikawa complaining about you.
“Hey,” Hanamaki shifted his phone for Matsun to see, “there’s a party tomorrow night.”
Matsukawa raised a brow, “We have work tomorrow.”
Hanamaki gave him a pointed look, “Do you really want to deal with them?”
Matsukawa glanced over at Oikawa fuming at the front then over to you, angrily shoving and reorganizing the boxes in the back. Meeting his strawberry-blonde friend’s eyes, his decision was made.
***
“Sorry guys,” their manager, gave you and Oikawa a pitied look with a shrug as she prepared to leave after checking in. “Matsukawa-kun and Hanamaki-kun never took a sick day so I gave it to them. No one else could come in and besides, it’s Thursday. Not a lot of people come in on Thursdays.”
You tried reaching for and arguing with your manager but she narrowly avoided your hand when she made it through the door to escape the bickering she only ever wanted to hear about, but never experience it.
Oikawa opened his mouth to speak until you raised your finger up in the air, silencing him immediately.
“I’ll work front, you stay in the back.”
And for once, Oikawa didn’t have the energy to try to retort.
At this point, the two of you just learned to sorta put up with each other. It was hard, but it was necessary. And, you would never admit to it out loud, but you were getting tired of being angry all the time. And yet, you still always let yourself be angry at him.
Because he was annoying.
Even when he talked about volleyball and wanting to be the best and to finally beat that Ushiwaka guy or outsmart Kageyama. Okay you’ll admit, his passion is pretty incredible. But Oikawa was annoying.
That’s it.
Final.
Luckily, your manager was right. Today was a slow day but it was a slower day than usual. Which you couldn’t complain about. It’ll be boring, sure, but it’ll be easy. You just wished that Hanamaki and Matsukawa were there. They were funny, and you liked talking to them.
The front door opened with a ring and you and Oikawa both called out, welcoming the man that walked in. You didn’t pay any mind to him, just another customer and he seemed to be someone who was a college kid.
“Hi, what can I get for you?” You tried putting on your best smile and the man arched a brow.
“Uh, the signature is fine.”
“Sure thing, what size?”
“Large. No boba.”
“Alright, and will that be all?” After typing in his order, you look back up, the fake customer service smile still painted on your face.
“How about your number?”
You blinked. The guy wasn’t necessarily bad looking, but the more he stared at you the more you got a weird vibe from him.
You chuckled nervously, “Uhm, sorry-” you tried coming up with an excuse as to why you didn’t want to give him your number.
“Come on, baby,” he placed his hands onto the counter, leaning in towards you as you froze in place, “I can be your sugar daddy, how about that? You don’t have to work in this place and all you have to do wou-”
“Excuse me sir, we have the right to deny anyone service and I think you need to leave.”
The man glanced behind you and you saw him visibly shiver before he stood straight up. It seemed as if the man was debating whether or not he wanted to try to argue.
“The door is right there,” Oikawa placed his hand on your shoulder, giving you a reassuring squeeze. “Please leave.”
Looking up at Oikawa, there was a sort of deadly gaze with his eyes being overshadowed that would’ve made you shit your pants but knowing it wasn’t directed at you but rather this man, it made you feel safe. And the way he spoke, it was lower than usual, but filled with a sense of authority.
Taking in Oikawa’s figure made you realize how tall he was and how fit he got from volleyball. His shoulders were incredibly broad and the squeeze was firm yet it didn’t hurt.
The ringing of the bell from the front door brought you out of your daze as Oikawa’s face softened when looking at you.
“Are you alright?” Oikawa asked, his chocolate-brown eyes searching yours. When you don’t reply he says your name.
You suddenly take a step back, away from him and glance off to the side.
“Ye-yeah, I’m fine.”
“Are you sure, you’re shaking.” Oikawa took another step towards you, placing both of his hands gently on your quivering shoulders. You didn’t even notice you were shaking.
Oikawa’s thankful that you don’t step away from him. To be honest, he was surprised you didn’t retort back at the man. At the same time, however, the vibes the man gave even made Oikawa himself uncomfortable.
“Here,” Oikawa began pushing you towards a chair and sat you down, “I’ll close up shop but just sit here for now.”
“What? But-”
“It’s almost closing time, it’ll be fine~!” His cheery voice coming back easily. Usually it’d piss you off but, you’re more than glad that he’s trying to make you feel better, safe.
Oikawa went off, locking the front door and turning off the open sign. The setter began humming as he prepared some drinks. Watching him was always interesting. This time it was rather relaxing. You’ve always known Oikawa was a hard worker, as you could tell from when he talked about volleyball and what Bokuto always talked about. But he was a hard worker in every aspect. He charmed customers and he made drinks exceptionally fast and accurately.
To be honest, you actually didn’t even notice he made any messes. And in your experience with his fan club members always coming in to the boba shop, they were genuinely nice people and he was nice to them as well.
You let out a groan. You had an image to uphold, you couldn’t go back on what happened in the beginning when you said you hated him.
But then he placed a drink in front of you and sat across from you, sipping on his own drink.
You eyed it warily, then looked back up at him as if you were asking him what it was.
“Passionfruit yakult. With boba, it's usually too sweet and I noticed you don’t like too sweet drinks so it’s half sugar.”
Grabbing the drink, you pierced the top with a straw and drank it. Though, you’ve never had it, it was good. You were also pleasantly surprised that he even remembered your preferences.
Wait.
No, you weren’t pleasantly surprised.
God, you wanted to rip your hair out.
You set the drink back down, chewing and gulping the boba in your mouth.
“Thank you, by the way,” you murmured just loud enough for him to hear.
He hummed in response, “The man was being a creep. If it were me however, you’d be fallin-ack!”
You whacked him across the head, but a smile sat on your lips as your fingers settled to caress the boba drink on the table.
Oikawa rubbed his head, about to make a retort but instead stared at you. Oikawa found that he liked it when you smiled. He kinda wanted to make you smile some more.
𝐁𝐎𝐍𝐔𝐒:
At the end of every morning shift...
“Bokuto-san, make sure you clean up the mess before you leave,” Akaashi called out, grabbing his things before heading off to class.
Bokuto waved his friend good bye with a grin on his face. And as the boy cleaned up the shop, he somehow forgot to clean up said mess.
At the end of every night shift...
“Are we really just going to leave this mess?”
“They do it to us, so,” Hanamaki shrugged at Matsukawa. The brunet raised a brow then snorted, shutting off the lights before following his friend to the station.

Once upon a time, in a land far away, there were two kingdoms, but this wasn’t your typical fairytale story. One kingdom is a warring kingdom that relied heavily on military. This kingdom prides itself on its massive well trained armies and futuristic technologically advanced aerial warships and mechanized weapons.
The second kingdom wasn’t as militaristically inclined. This kingdom prides itself on its pacifist nature and on its massively well read population and royals. They believe that words are far superior weapons.
Due to the opposing views, tensions arose between the two kingdoms. The military kingdom offered protection under their well trained and well equipped armies in exchange for full willing submission. The pacifist kingdom would politely refuse due to the peaceful times they’re living in. Neither kingdoms were in any danger.
But the military kingdom had other plans.
In the peaceful kingdom, there was a prestigious private university where only the best of the best could qualify to attend. Kim Woojin was one of them. Sure, his title of heir for one of the biggest corporations granted him a free seat into the prestigious university, but Woojin liked to believe that due to his intellect, he had rightfully earned his seat in the university.
Woojin convinced himself that the same couldn’t be said for his class ranking rival, Crowned Prince Bang Christopher Chan.
The top 2 were in their final year as they’re within margins of each other for Valedictorian. Woojin absolutely despises the crowned royal, believing that only his privilege had gotten him this far. Unlike Woojin who was always studious with a nose in a book and his hand scribbling down notes , Chan had a more casual outlook in life. He would much rather prefer to nod his head to whatever music he had playing through his ear budsas he tapped away on his mobile device.
This was the person Woojin is second to and Woojin is absolutely LIVID.
You filled the void in me
“Hi,” you appeared before Woojin with a stack of books in your arms. Your lips were curved upwards to form a polite smile. Woojin’s eyes traveled up and down your body as if he was scrutinizing every nitty gritty detail on your body. Woojin recognized you immediately. You were the younger sibling of Chan, you were a royal as well.
“May I?” You politely asked gesturing to the empty seat before him. Woojin’s eyebrows furrowed as his eyes hardened in mild annoyance. Normally people didn’t approach him due to his stern facial expression. Woojin didn’t answer and he redirected his attention back to his work. Not hearing a no, you took the seat before him and gently placed your stack of books on the table.
“What occurred within your mind that allowed you to believe you can sit before me?” Woojin spoke out with his eyes still glued to his work.
“Curiosity,” you smiled resting your chin on your intertwined fingers. “You seem to have a sour distaste for us royals.”
“You royals are all the same,” Woojin started. “You’re surrounded by privilege to the point you are blind to the virtues of hard work. You live your life as a silver spoon as everything is served before you.”
You smiled before erupting into laughter, prompting Woojin to tear his gaze from his work to your chuckling form as his eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
“I know right?” you agreed leaning forward a bit to continue on in a hushed tone. “The other day, father bought Channie a whole hecking car for no particular reason while I couldn’t get a book for acing my exams. Father waved me off saying that our library is already filled to the brim with books.”
Woojin’s mouth gaped open at a loss of words. He did not expect that kind of response.
You can fill the void in me
Woojin would’ve been a fool to ignore the fact that you’ve piqued his interest. You carried yourself differently from your brother. Your nose was always in a book with a pen twirling around in between the fingers of your dominant hand.
Just you being by my side
Helps me a lot
Day after day, you would welcome yourself within Woojin’s space, sitting before him with piles of work that matched his. Your small conversations did bring color to his monotonous day. Subconsciously, Woojin would set aside his workspace for you to slide in beside him rather than before him. You did not mention a thing and neither did he. And you both were ok with it.
“Whatcha doin?” you inquired nudging his forearm with yours as you peered over to look at his work.
“Organic chemistry,” Woojin responded,
“Disgusting,” you grumbled. “I’d rather multivariable calculus.”
“Nonsense,” Woojin disagreed, prompting you to laugh. He felt butterflies erupt in his stomach as he watched you cover your smiling mouth with your hand, a small dimple appearing on your cheek as you eyes fade to small crescents.
Not in a million years would Woojin would have ever predicted that you crashing into his life would be what he had needed all his life. You both were acquainted for two months now, but within that time you’ve transitioned from being someone he absolutely despised to holding a special place in his heart.
“Thank you,” Woojin smiled genuinely.
“Huh?” you settled your breathing. Woojin merely gazed at you fondly.
I used to say thanks, but now I’m reaching out to you
With you holding my hand, I can shout a bigger dream
“So what do you do?” you asked before devouring a spoonful of yogurt. You both were sitting under the shade of a tree on the soft grass eating your packed lunches studying for your upcoming exam.
“What do you mean?” Woojin looked up meeting your gaze.
“On your free time,” you clarified, looking at him intently as you patiently waited for his response. Woojin’s heart swelled at the considerate gesture.
“I uhh...I sing,” Woojin smiled as a light pink dusted his cheeks and he looked off to the side.
“REALLY?!” you beamed, voice cracking slightly as you bounced slightly in your seat. “I want to hear you sing!” You smiled, scooting closer holding his hand in yours. “I also sing as well, we could do a duet!”
“I know a place,” Woojin whispered, bashful at your suggestion.
Woojin led you to his secret place on campus. You followed close behind as he weaved through the dark hallways to a room hidden away in the back. Your face lit up in awe as Woojin walked forward to pull back the curtain, the sunlight illuminated the room as the rays landed directly on the piano in the center.
“What is the place, Woojin?” you walked forwards, circling around the piana and running your fingers along the keys.
“It’s where I go to escape life,” Woojin admitted. You had only been a part of his life for such a small amount of time, but Woojin felt blissed. He felt as if he can open to you, to show you all of him.
If I could do everything for you. I’d do it no matter what
“Have you ever written a song, Woojin?”
“Mayhaps,” Woojin smiled as his fingers danced over the piano keys. Your head nodded softly taking in the beautiful melody.
“You should. I want to hear a song for your heart.”
If you could shine brighter, I’d be the dark
You hummed to yourself as you hold your most recent exam in your hands. You were in your palace kitchen awaiting by the back door. You invited Woojin over and instructed him to enter through the back to bypass all the guards. As if on cue, the door opened to reveal Woojin’s smiling face. You showed your exam to him all giddy and he you. You hopped up and down in glee seeing’s Woojin’s perfect score. Woojin ran up to you and wrapped his large arms around you. His forward momentum sent you falling backwards with Woojin over you. You both giggled to each other as you met eye to eye. Your breaths mingled as you both feel your heart beating erratically in your chests. Both your eyes were filled with so much emotion and adoration. Woojin leaned closer as your eyes slowly close losing yourself in the intimate moment feeling his breath on your lips.
But before you lips melded together, the door knob jiggled prompting Woojin to quickly stand up and straightening his posture and clothes. You sat up and turned to face the figure at the door. Chan stood there with his mouth agape with his phone in his hand.
“Chan?” you squeaked out standing up fully to face your brother. You gulped as you turned to face Woojin. He was losing his composure as his hands balled up to fists. You could see the fiery hatred deep within his irises.
“I’ll see you tomorrow,” Woojin murmured in a low voice as he gathered his things and left. You turned to face your brother as a distaste appeared on your tongue. Your face soured at your brother for ruining your intimate moment. Your bottom lip stuck out and quivered slightly as you walk past the elder bumping shoulders into him.
I’ll be by your side
Will you be where I am?
“Sorry about the other day,” you apologized looking off to the side. ”My dumb brother had to walk in...”
Woojin looked at your gloomy figure. A breeze came by and fluttered the lavender hanging from the archway you both stood under. Woojin’s secret place to escape life was his piano room hidden deep within campus. Yours was this garden pavillion decorated by several variety of flowers and shrubbery. The place seemed to glow with various colors and butterflies.
“It’s fine,” Woojin tried to consolidate you engulfing your hands within his.
You looked up at him. The sunlight illuminated your face. The gentle breeze fluttered the hanging lavender behind you as delicate purple petals rained down around you. Woojin looked at you in adoration. You looked absolutely divine, breathtaking. Beautiful.
“What’s this?” you wondered releasing his grip. Your hand reached out for Woojin’s folder that he left on the bench beside you. Your eyes spotted music sheets poking out with “I am you” delicately written on top. “Are you writing a song, Woojin?!”
Woojin turned beet red as he quickly grabbed ahold of his folder before you could peruse through it and held it high above his head.
“Woojin~” you whined pouting cutely as you hopped trying to reach for his folder. “I wanna see~”
“You may see it after it’s finished. Not before,” Woojin’s heart swelled seeing your cute expression.
“You better,” you threatened pointing a finger at him.
“I will. I promise.”
“Oh, I almost forgot! My brother is going to leave for the other kingdom soon.”
“Oh?” Woojin asked as he delicately placed the folder back on the bench.
“You know, the usual. Politics. He’s going to marry the princess to solidify the peace between the two kingdoms. That means you can come over and we won’t be interrupted again.”
Woojin let out a hearty laugh. “I’d like that,” Woojin smiled as he walked forward closing the distance between the two of you. Woojin’s hands were delicately placed on your waist as he pulled you flush against his body. Both your eyes met and it was as if sparks were flying around the two of you. Both pairs of eyes trailed to the other’s lips prior to making eye contact again. You smiled fondly at the man before you as you both leaned in. You both paused before your lips met. The intimate moment was ruined by your phone blaring loudly.
“Chan,” you groaned pulling away to pull out your phone. You declined his call and began typing away at it to give Chan a few choice words. “Sorry. I got to go.”
It’s too cold outside to be alone by myself
It’s warm here, maybe because you’re here
Little did they know that the pair was being watched as the figure smirked.
Woojin returned home bowing in thanks to towards the servant that welcomed him in.
“Woojin. My office, now,” Woojin saw his father on the upper floor with a disapproving gaze.
Woojin’s eyes narrowed in confusion as he made his way up the stairs. Woojin entered his father’s vast office. It was a large room with bookcases lining the wall surrounding the large window and a singular desk in the center. Woojin was greeted by his younger brother’s shit eating grin and his father’s turned back.
“Do you know why I’ve called you here?” Woojin’s father started not bothering to turn around to look at him.
“No, father,” Woojin gulped, but his voice was strong and had support.
“You’re already a disappointment to our family name. A Kim is nothing if not first. I’ve seen your recent class ranking.”
“But, father!” Woojin interjected.
“No buts!” Woojin’s father snapped as he whipped around to face his son. “I’ve decided to let you slide all this time and then you’ve gone and went parading with a lower class.”
Woojin’s mouth gaped open as his eyes fell upon his younger brother’s face. He had a menacing smirk. You weren’t just anyone, in fact Woojin’s relations were far more sophisticated in comparison to his junior despite Woojin only having the one. By status, you far outranked both him and his father due to your royal background. Woojin’s brother enjoyed bedding several women only to disregard them the following day.
“Father!” Woojin tried to interject to defend you.
“Enough!” Woojin’s father lifted up his hand as a sign for Woojin to shut his mouth.
“Father, I believe you should ask hyung about his music,” his younger brother smiled with faux innocence. “Hyung had been putting off his studies to write music and to play piano.”
Woojin’s eyes widen at his brother. How did he discover his secret place and the song he’s writing from the heart for you?
“Music? MUSIC?!” That was the final straw. Woojin’s father reddened with rage as veins protrude out of his neck. “You are an utter disappointment. You’ve stained our family’s image.”
“Father, how could you say such a thing? I’ve been working hard in my studies, you’ve seen all my scores. I’ve accompanied you to all the meetings to better prepare myself for the title of heir-”
“That title is not yours to claim any longer.”
“What?” Woojin’s heart shattered.
His father brought up a hand to gesture to his younger brother, who in turn walked forward with his hands folded behind him with his chin up. “He will be my heir to the family business.”
“But, I’m the eldest!” Woojin pressed on knowing full well his brother didn’t deserve the position. Even though Woojin did not care about the position whatsoever, he didn’t want to disappoint his father. His brother did not put nearly half the effort into preparing for the inheritance as Woojin.
“You’ve already disappointed me enough. First with your inability to top your class, second with your endeavors in music, and finally, and most insultingly, go parading with dirt.”
Woojin stood forward to protest. You weren’t dirt. You were a royal. You were beautiful and sophisticated and has captured his whole entire heart and being. Before Woojin can open his mouth to protest, a loud crack broke through the silence. Woojin’s eyes were wide and blown out as his head was turned to the side. His cheek stung as it reddened and a warm liquid traveled down his cheek. His fingers went up to his cheek to lap up the liquid to reveal the brilliant red liquid. Woojin looked at his father’s hand in shock seeing the metal glint of his rings.
“Dismissed.” Woojin’s father spat. “I’ve had enough of you.”
I am you, I see me in you
Woojin’s class was dismissed for the day. All the students flocked out in relief that the lecture was finally over. The professor gathered his things and left shortly after. Woojin stood from his seat as he slung his backpack over his shoulder. One hand was holding onto the strap and the other held his rank placement exam. As he turned to leave, he noticed the crowned prince situated in the back tapping away on his mobile device while nodding his head to the music playing through his earbuds. Woojin scoffed in disgust towards the prince as his eyes focused on the exam before him. In large red numbers, 98. Woojin glanced at his own, 100.
“What?“ Woojin whispered to himself as he rushed out of the room to catch up to the professor.
“Excuse me? Professor!” Woojin called out to him catching up to the professor.
“Yes? How may I help you, Woojin?” the professor turned to face him.
“Apologies. I don’t mean to pry, but I noticed his highness scoring lower than I did on this exam.” Woojin began knowing how this exam was one of the monthly progress exams that can shift class rankings depending on score. “I was wondering why I’m still second.”
“Ah yes. About that,” the professor started readjusting his glasses that slid down the bridge of his nose. He explained the long history the headmaster and the king shared and how it would be highly inappropriate if the crowned royals did not perform well to represent this prestigious university and as well as the throne. “But, second is also a remarkable feat-”
“You mean he’s only first because he’s the prince?” Woojin interrupted feeling utterly destroyed and robbed. Woojin scoffed and stormed off before the professor had a chance to answer.
I found you, I found me in you
“Woojin!” you beamed waving at him as usual. You skipped happily down the path towards Woojin as he rolled his eyes and turned to the opposite direction.
“Wait, Woojin!” you picked up your face to catch up to the man grabbing his forearm gently. Woojin tore his arm out of your grip as he turned to glare at you. “Woojin?”
You gasped seeing the dark purple wound and large cut on his cheek.
“Woojin, what happened?” you breathed out worryingly as your brought your fingers up to trace the injury. Woojin slapped your hand away,
“You. You and Chan happened, that’s what,” Woojin seethed, anger laced in his voice.
“I-I don’t understand-”
“I fucking hate you,” Woojin snapped.
Your face dropped as tears welled up in your eyes. Your chest constricted painfully as you felt your heart shatter.
“It’s all you damn royals fault! Both you and Chan are just spoiled privileged brats! Good fortunes are just served before you on gold platters with equally golden utensils for every possible meal of the day. Both of you haven’t worked an honest day of your lives as things are just handed to you!” Woojin erupted feeling his pent up frustrations just explode and spew out.
Your mouth gaped open in shock as tears fell down your face freely as you felt your heart become grinded to dust and blown away in the wind. “Is that- is that how you really feel? About me?” Your voice was small, broken and breathless.
Woojin scoffed. “Just leave me alone,” Woojin responded before turning around to leave, leaving his broken heart and a broken you behind.
In the same space, in the same time
Let me run, let me run along with you
As piercing Woojin’s words were, you couldn’t yourself to fault him. You were in complete disbelief of his Woojin reacted. This wasn’t your Woojin that you’ve gotten to know within the short time you’ve been acquainted. Even if your time was short, it felt like an eternity. You felt you could be Y/N, not crowned royal Bang Y/N around him and he, Kim Woojin, not next heir to his family’s corporation around you.
Something nagged at you in the depths of your mind. Something was happening deep within behind closed doors that you didn’t know about. As cruel as Woojin’s words were, you had to figure out if his words were really true.
“CHAN!” you confronted your brother. He jumped at your loud tone of voice as he removed an earbud to face you. “Let me see your progress exam!” you demanded as he slowly handed you his papers. You ripped it out of his hands. You eyed the big red 98 at the corner of the paper as anger bubbled within you and you balled up your brother’s exam. Chan merely looked at you in pity.
“You don’t deserve to be first,” you spat at your brother tossing his balled up exam on the ground. “It should have been Woojin.”
“I know,” Chan stated.
“Don’t even start wit- wait what? You know?” your mouth fell agaped as his words shocked you.
“I overheard his conversation with the professor after the exam.”
“What...?” you breathed out.
“Y/N,” Chan said sternly placing his hands onto your shoulders firmly. “We’re only high ranks because we’re royals.”
Your fists balled together as tears of frustration welled up in your eyes as you felt horrible. Woojin was right. Chan shook you lightly to prevent your mind from wandering to places where it shouldn’t be.
“I don’t know what I’ve done for you to hate me so, but I’m still your older brother. Nothing is ever going to change that. We’re family and I love you. I really do, Y/N.” Chan’s fingers hooked under your chin to bring your chin up to look directly at him. “I can see how much he really means to you. You love him.”
“Chan...” you whispered. Chan shushed you by pressing a finger to your lips.
“Now, what do you say we give our headmaster hell to put Woojin where he rightfully belongs.”
Yeah, yeah. Please be by my side
“Excuse me! Mr. Kim Woojin! Before you head out!” Woojin turned towards the voice. Behind him was the headmaster running towards him with a letter in his hand. Up ahead, Woojin heard loud whirring. Woojin saw the other kingdom’s aerial ships heading towards the castle.
“Mr. Kim, I have your class ranking,” the headmaster started.
“There’s no need, headmaster. I already know my ranking,” Woojin bowed politely.
“But have a look,” the headmaster handed him the envelope.
Woojin looked at it momentarily before flipping it over to pull out the parchment. His eyes skimmed over the letter as he had to do a double take. He blinked rapidly and rubbed at his eyes not believing what he saw was correct.
‘Congratulations for placing 1st in class ranking out of X students.’
“Headmaster, what...?” Woojin gasped.
“You needn’t thank me,” the headmaster chuckled awkwardly losing his composure. “The royal siblings came by and gave me a few...choice words.”
Yeah, yeah. I need you right by my side now
“Chan? Y/N?” Woojin whispered in disbelief as he repeatedly looked over his class ranking letter. Tears welled up in Woojin’s eyes as he mentally thanked the royals. Woojin recalled the event that happened earlier that day.
Stay together
His heart broke. He was being so unfair. You didn’t deserve any of his harsh words. Though his words held some truth, but both you and Chan didn’t have much of a choice. Just like Woojin. Woojin had to apologize, he had to make it up to you. His eyes gazed towards the folder he held within his arm and the music sheets that poked out.
You and I, You and I, You and I. I’m by your side
Woojin remembered about Chan leaving soon for his arranged marriage. Woojin wanted to at least thank the prince in person before he left, but before that he had to see you. He fished his phone from his pocket to send you a text.
Always, I’m going where you’re headed
“Meet me at my special place at 4.” It was short and simple, but enough to get his message across. He had a lot to say to you and he held his finished song to his chest. Woojin had a good 30 minutes before his allotted meet up time.
You and I, You and I, You and I
Woojin headed down the street on the way to a corner flower shop. He stopped by to pick out a luscious bouquet of flowers that matched your special spot in the garden pavillion. He smiled fondly as the several sprigs of lavender being complemented by several other flowers.
With the completed song in one hand and the bouquet in the other, Woojin was ready to reveal the words in his heart that he’s kept from you for so long.
Suddenly an explosion rang through the air causing Woojin to jump in surprise and the people around him to erupt into screams and wails. Woojin’s eyes widen as his heart sunk down to his stomach. The explosion came from the castle with a series of black smoke originating from the destruction. Several other explosions went off at the castle. The military kingdom was attacking the castle. The aerial ships were dropping bombs. Your face appeared before Woojin in a vision as his legs moved on his own as he sprinted towards the castle. His heart was beating erratically in his chest. He could hear the loud drumming in his ears.
Suddenly Woojin heard something that made him stop in his tracks. The finished music sheets and bouquet of flowers fell forgotten on the floor. Woojin walked forwards in disbelief towards the electronic’s shops. Within the display window were several TV screens and monitors that was showing Live News.
“Breaking News! The castle is currently under attack. The guards have issued an evacuation order to leave the city. Insiders reveal that the crowned royal siblings Bang Christopher Chan and Bang Y/N has been killed during the attack.”
No one can replace you.
I love you.

History? What About Her Story?
"My love, have you seen the book you gave me on our wedding day?" Liam walked along the shelves of the palace library, searching each brown leather spine.
"No. I don't believe I have seen it since the reception." Riley set her book down and began to help him search. "Did you allow someone to borrow it?"
"No." He frowned and called for Bastien. A search was conducted with no results.
"It has to be somewhere in here." She muttered.
Maxwell and Drake joined them, bringing Hana and Olivia. After much discussion, Maxwell offered to call in a favor.
"I know a guy who is able to solve these type of mysteries." He pulled his phone out and scrolled through his contacts.

Santa Barbara, California
"Chief, the psychic realm is buzzing with gossip and a little ethereal bird told me to stop by." Shawn announced, bursting in on a meeting between Chief Vick, Head Detective Carlton Lassiter, and Detective Juliet O'Hara.
"Mr. Spencer, I don't know what birds are whispering in your ear but they need to remind you not to interrupt a meeting." She said in a frustrated tone.
"Sorry Chief, but when they tweet, I must answer. Usually with hashtags. Right, Gus?" Shawn turned to his best friend and partner.
"It's true Chief. He uses an unusual amount of hashtags." Gus added.
"Dude! You know my Twitter followers need to be in the know. I can't just offer a thought without a dozen or so carefully phrased hashtags to explain it's significance." Shawn reached over for Juliet's doughnut and was immediately batted away.
"Jules! Sharing is caring." He reminded her.
"If there are doughnuts, we need to be made aware of their location." Gus searched the room and looked out toward the main room of the police station.
"Enough!" Carlton yelled. "Spencer, you and Gusster go find a doughnut and leave."
"Come on, Lassie. Don't you want to break bread with us. Or a doughnut as the case might be while we discuss the next step in our investigation?" Shawn tried to secretly slide Juliette's doughnut his way, earning another slap.
"I would rather go to a hot yoga class with McNabb." Carlton uttered in a deadpan voice.
"Well, I for one am ready to find this Corduroy antique." Shawn said sitting down and propping his feet up on the table.
"Cordonian." Gus corrected.
"I've heard it both ways." Shawn quickly repsonded.
"Shawn you didn't even know it was a country." Gus added.
"Gus, I can't help that the psychic tweets didn't give a geography lesson with the message. There's only a limited number of characters allowed." Shawn argued.
"Gentlemen!" Chief Vick interrupted. She stared pointedly at Shawn until he took his feet off the conference table. "Due to the international attention you and Lassister and O'Hara have gained with past investigations, the King and Queen of Cordonia have asked the four of you to come help find out what happened to one of the king’s prized possessions. The mayor insists you go to show how Santa Barbara is keeping up international relations."
"The tweets never lie." Shawn said, a smile lighting up his face. "What type of clothing should we pack?"
"It's in the Mediterranean." Juliet told him.
"So, snowsuit?" Shawn asked.
"Be ready to leave first thing tomorrow morning. King Liam is sending his private plane for you." Vick flicked her hands for them to leave.

"Gus, I was meant for this lifestyle. Private planes. Servants. Ruling over a small country. Adored by my people." Shawn reclined in the Corinthian leather chair as the plane flew over the Atlantic.
"Dude, your people would overthrow you within a week." Gus muttered.
"And what a glorious week it would be." Shawn replied.
Gus glanced behind him to where Juliet and Carlton were sleeping. "What did Maxwell tell you?"
"Some brown book filled with the country’s history is missing. The queen presented it as a wedding gift. Who gives their spouse an ancient book as a gift on their wedding night? Do you think there was underwear in it? I bet--"
"Shawn." Gus attempted to reign Shawn's ramblings in.
"Anyway, they can't find it. So it is up to us to find out who took it, why they did, and where it is now."
"Great. Did Maxwell offer any leads?"
Shawn frowned. "No...but how many people actually were in a small palace of a tiny country?"

Liam and Riley walked with Maxwell down the corridor. "A psychic?" Liam asked again. "I can't believe we invited a psychic detective to assist in this."
Maxwell nodded. "Shawn isn't some run of the mill psychic. He has solved numerous thefts, murders, even stopped a notorious serial killer. I think he will have this book back in your hands by this evening."
They walked into the study and warmly greeted their guests.
"Maxwell!" Shawn walked up and fist bumped him. "How long has it been?"
"Um...I want to say a two months since I was in Canada. The whole book tour being interrupted by Pierre Despereaux's thefts was when we last met." Maxwell explained.
"Thefts?" Riley asked.
"An international art thief, your majesty." Juliet explained, dropping into an awkward curtsy.
"Please, there is no need for any of that." Riley said with a smile. "I'm still not used to it. Every time someone needs a refill on drinks, I hop up to get it."
Juliet laughed and clapped her hands. "Your story is the stuff of dreams. I love how you and King Liam met."
"O'Hara." Carlton muttered.
"Right. Sorry." Juliet straightened up beside him.
"Can you tell us if you have any new staff, possibly seen anyone suspicious around the book?" Carlton asked.
"No, most have been here for years. The ones visiting the palace are nobles and friends that have never caused a problem of this sort." Liam explained.
"Of this sort?" Gus repeated. "So there have been problems?"
Liam shared a loaded glance with Riley. "I recently created a council of both nobles and commoners to help my queen and I rule to the best of our abilities. After the terrorist attacks from the Sons of the Earth, I wanted to try and not allow a situation like that to develop again."
Shawn raised his hand to his head. "I'm sensing that there were a few who did not agree with this."
Riley nodded, eyes wide. "There were some, one in particular, Lord Neville."
"The singer of Tell It Like It Is?" Shawn asked.
"That's Aaron Neville." Gus corrected.
"Right, the quarterback for Green Bay." Shawn asked.
"That's Aaron Rogers!" Gus exclaimed
"Right. Love his neighborhood." Shawn put his hand back to his head. "I'm sensing that Lord Rogers--"
"Neville." Gus whispered.
"That Lord Neville might wish to get back at you. Mayhap even--" he turned to Gus. "Did I use mayhap right?"
"Yes." Gus answered
"Too pretentious?" Shawn furrowed his brow.
"A little bit." Gus shrugged.
"It's this setting. I mean look at this place. Velvet sitting chairs. Who has this? Really, even velvet drapes? Does Elton John visit?" Shawn walked over and lifted the red drape.
"He has..." Liam replied, trying to keep up with Shawn's thought process.
"Is he planning on visiting soon?"
"I--" Liam shrugged. "I don't think so."
"Hmm. To solve this mystery, I am going to need to become one with this palace. I am going to need to eat what you eat. Sit where you sit. Touch what you touch." Shawn winked at Riley, earning a smack to the back of the head from Carlton.
He glared at Shawn before turning to Liam. "Rest assured that O'Hara and I will do all we can to solve this for you."
"If you wouldn't mind, we need to speak to your head of security." Juliet added.
"Of course, right this way." Liam and Riley walked out with the two detectives.
Maxwell grinned. "Alright guys, show me that magic you did in Canada."
"Oh you will see the magic." Shawn promised.
"We got magic for days." Gus added.
"At least for a couple of hours." Shawn corrected. "Maybe an encore card trick or two."
Maxwell chuckled and finger gunned them on his way out. "Great. Let me know if you need anything."
"Magic for days? Really Gus?" Shawn shook his head and left the study.
"What? The man asked for it. What was I supposed to say? Shawn!" Gus ran after him.

"We start with the list Maxwell gave us of those that are normally in the palace." Shawn explained. "From there, we can easily say Neville did it and we receive some kind of royal award, like a spare chest of jewels or a quick swim in the gold vault."
"Liam is not Scrooge McDuck." Gus reminded him.
"Are you saying he doesn't have a gigantic money vault that he secretly swims in while wearing a bathing suit from the turn of the century?"
"Yes. That's what I'm saying."
"Well, that's disappointing." Shawn muttered.
The pair stopped by an office and knocked. When they opened the door they saw a petite, strikingly beautiful blonde filing some papers. "Who are you?" She asked, eyes narrowing.
"My name is Shawn Spencer and this is my partner, Sir Spinsalot. We have been asked to assist in locating the King's missing book."
Madeleine sat down behind her desk. "And?"
"We were wondering who you suspected." Gus leaned closer. "A lady of your talents of changing the minds of the people should have a few suspects in mind."
A proud smile formed. "When King Liam chose an American waitress as his Queen, there were some that were less enthused with his choice."
Shawn zeroed in on her fingers tensing, the old issues of magazines behind her desk, and the faint tan line on her ring finger. There was also a flyer partially hidden with the word rebound on it. A sticky note had a m and a f with groups of numbers listed. 1728 and 1817 were written down. "I'm sensing that these nobles preferred someone else. They wanted you to be queen."
She momentarily stilled. "Yes they did. After my upbringing as the Countess of Fydella, I was the natural choice as queen."
"I bet they were disappointed when Liam ended your engagement." Gus added.
A hard glint came into her eyes. "I suppose so. Who wouldn't wish for one trained since birth how to run a country and interact with nobles and dignitaries around the world without an entourage to constantly tell her what to do?"
"Good to see you're not bitter." Shawn stood up. "Thank you for your time."
"Do you think she did it?" Gus whispered as they walked down the hall.
"Nah. She has moved on with this new position. Plus it looks like she is getting some type of rebound counseling after being dumped. She's the kind that has to be needed." He explained.
"I think I could need her." Gus grinned, brushing his thumb across his nose.
"I say this with all the love in my heart. Something is wrong with you." Shawn stepped outside.

"He did it." Shawn nodded toward a man dressed in a demin shirt talking to Juliet.
"What? That's the King's best friend!" Gus exclaimed.
"Doesn't matter. He did it." Shawn persisted. "Only a thief would flirt to distract the investigation."
"He's not flirting. Juliet is." Gus pointed out.
"Man." Shawn shook his head and walked over.
Juliet was smiling. "....I named him Sprinkles because of his dappled coat."
Drake's smirk appeared and he looked up as Shawn and Gus approached. Juliet turned and introduced them.
"Drake, this is Shawn Spencer and Burton Gusster."
He nodded to them. "How's the investigation going? Any leads?"
"It's going." Shawn answered. "I'm not at liberty to reveal any parts."
Drake cocked an eyebrow. "You're not at liberty?"
"That's right, Jack! The psychic's relationship with the visions he is given is precious. Has to be nurtured. It's a circle of trust and it gets upset when I share its secrets with suspiciously handsome dudes that flex their muscles in a barn. Or stable. Is this a stable?" Shawn pulled the door open.
"It's a stable." Gus decided.
Juliet looked up in silent frustration. "Thank you Drake for your time. Guys, I will see you back at the palace." She walked away.
Shawn noticed Drake checking Juliet out and spoke harshly.
"So what do you do here?"
"Er...I do...things." Drake muttered.
"What type of things?" Gus asked.
"I...you couldn't really put a name on it. I do a variety of...stuff." Drake stuttered.
"Is theft of antique cornucopia history--" Shawn began.
"Cordonian." Gus corrected.
"Cordonian history rank as one of your things?" Shawn asked.
Drakes eyes narrowed. "What? Are you actually accusing me of stealing from my best friend?"
"No!" Gus said while Shawn said, "YES!" At the same time.
Drake glared at them and stormed off.
"What's his problem?" Shawn asked.
"Shawn, you just accused the man of stealing. What did you expect?"
"I don't know. Maybe point me toward the most likely suspect. Didn't he seem a little more secretive than one would normally be?" Shawn asked.
"Maybe. Why?" Gus watched Drake walk into a hidden side door.
"I think he's hiding something." Shawn motioned his head in the direction Drake disappeared. "We need to keep an eye on him."

"There has to be food somewhere in this joint." Shawn muttered.
Gus threw his arm out, stopping Shawn. He took a sniff and turned down a hallway.
"Super sniffer activated. What!" Shawn exclaimed following his friend.
"Do you smell that?" Gus asked, stopping again.
Shawn took a deep breath and let out an exaggerated moan. "It smells like heaven's bakery: one filled with cinnamon, sugar, chocolate, and our third grade teacher Ms. Ferguson wearing that sundress on field day."
Gus closed his eyes in memory. "You know that's right. Every teacher should look like her."
They stepped into the kitchen and watched a lady in a pink dress remove a tray of snickerdoodles from the oven. She brushed her long dark hair back and began to place the cookies on a cooling rack.
"I'm in love." Gus whispered.
Shawn nodded at the vision before them. He walked up to her with a look of wonder on his face. "Excuse me, but are you an angel?"
Hana looked up and giggled sweetly. "I know you! You're the private detectives Maxwell called in." She wiped her hands before holding one out. "I'm Lady Hana Lee."
"My name is Shawn Spencer and the suave gentleman stealing cookies is my partner, The Duke of Earl."
Gus quickly swallowed and gave a slow wave. "Hello."
Hana's grow furrowed. "The Duke of what?"
"Earl. But you can call me Slade." Gus replied with a seductive look.
Hana nodded and motioned toward the counter covered in sweet treats. "Please, help yourself. I tend to overdo it when I bake."
"That is impossible." Gus muttered. He took a bite of a still warm brownie and rolled his eyes in pleasure. "I'm proposing to her tonight." He whispered to Shawn.
"Tonight? I'm proposing marriage this afternoon. She can't be real." Shawn filled a plate with a variety of sweets and sat down. With a mouthful of food and a few moans of pleasure he began to question her. "Lady Hana, have you noticed anyone acting suspicious lately?"
She poured them each a glass of milk and chewed on her bottom lip. "No."
Gus slapped Shawn's hand away from his plate. "Stop playing Shawn!"
"Come on son. You grabbed the last of the macarons! The least you can do is offer one or two."
"Not my fault you took your time with the magic bars." Gus countered.
"They literally have magic in the name. They taste like what I imagine Siegfried and Roy playing with baby tigers feels like." Shawn reached over again and shook his head when slapped. "I can't believe how greedy you're being."
"I don't care." Gus replied in a high pitched voice.
Hana laughed and went over to one of the containers filled with more macarons. She offered it to Shawn and blushed when he exclaimed over her. "I don't care what you say, I can see your wings and halo."
"This is what nice people do Gus, they give." Shawn held up the cookies Hana handed him.
"Suck it Shawn."
"You suck it."
They began to talk quickly over each other and suddenly stopped. Shawn took a drink of milk and focused on Hana. "I'm sensing that you have seen someone you are close to acting odd recently."
Her lips parted in surprise. "Yes, I have. But he couldn't have taken the book! He is much too loyal to ever do something against Liam."
Shawn placed his hand to his head, closed his eyes and slapped Gus for trying to take another brownie. "I'm sensing that the one you are worried about is Drake."
Hana gasped. "Yes! Maxwell told me you were the real thing, but I couldn't believe it."
"I am merely the vessel," he slapped the back of Gus's head for trying again, "that the visions use. Now, would it be too much trouble to find something we can use to carry all of this with us?"
______________
“I don’t like this.” Gus whispered as he crept behind Shawn through the dark palace halls.
“Drake wasn’t in his room. It’s two in the morning. Where is he?” Shawn responded. “I’m telling you, he is up to no good.”
“You’re just jealous that Juliet was flirting with him instead of you.” Gus muttered.
“Please. Me? Jealous? Just because Jules basically giggled like an eighth grade girl over that ridiculously good looking man means--” He held his hand up and stopped Gus. He pointed down another hallway where he could see Drake standing in front of a door.
“What’s he doing?” Gus asked.
Shawn moved in an exaggerated manner to hide behind a suit of armor. He motioned for Gus to follow. He shook his head no. Shawn began to motion faster while Gus silently argued back. They did rock, paper, scissors three times with Gus losing. He snuck over.
Drake looked behind him before knocking in a strange pattern. After a few moments he tried the pattern again, his brow furrowing with the continued silence that followed.
Shawn went to move to another suit of armor, only to end up frozen with a sword to his throat.
“One more move and you and your little friend will be a shish kabob.”
A sultry red head moved out of the shadows and narrowed her green eyes at the pair. “What are you doing here?”
Drake turned around and glared. “It’s those psychic detectives Maxwell called in.”
Olivia kept her sword against Shawn’s throat.
“You would need at least three more.” Shawn suddenly said.
“What are you blabbering about?” Olivia demanded.
“For kabobs.” Shawn continued. “Everyone knows that you can’t just have two things. You need something to make the kebobs pop, like onions, tomatoes, something green. Most add some zucchini yet I think bell peppers add more zing--”
“SILENCE!” Olivia said over his ramblings. “Why are you following Drake?”
“Could you lower the sword?” Gus asked.
She dropped it down. “Now talk before I change my mind.”
“We are searching for the cornstarch--”
“Cordonian!” Gus corrected yet again.
“Cordonian history book.” Shawn finished.
“They think I took it.” Drake folded his muscular arms across his chest.
“Why would Drake steal the book? It is only about nobles and ancient scandals. I think one of the last entries was from 1817.” Olivia noted.
Shawn thought back as his brain flashed to that post it note with that particular year listed. He raised his hand to his temple. “I KNOW WHO STOLE THE BOOK!”
________________
Everyone gathered half asleep in Liam’s study. Shawn stood in the middle of the room. “I’m sure you all wonder why I asked you here.”
“Cut the crap Spencer.” Carlton replied. “We know you have some half cocked theory that will somehow be correct.”
Gus shrugged when Shawn turned to him.
“Really you too?” Shawn asked.
“It’s late Shawn.” Gus countered. “We flew across the country and the Atlantic ocean to get here. I haven’t slept in thirty-six hours. You know how I get without sleep.”
“Gus, don’t be that can of Coke Zero. Bring back the sweetness.” Shawn pleaded.
He turned back to the group. “This missing piece of history isn’t filled with only boring facts. No! I sense that it is filled with the dirty secrets about what goes on in the unknown, deep, dark recesses of this palace.”
“It’s actually pretty bright everywhere.” Maxwell spoke up with a yawn.
Shawn ignored that. “Even though the scandals go back thousands--”
“Hundreds.” Gus whispered.
“Hundreds of years.” Shawn repeated. “They are still ones that some will want to remain in secret.”
“Who wouldn’t want that?” Drake muttered.
“Someone wanted to erase these recorded memories. Someone who has already gone through humiliation. Someone who doesn’t want their name added to their ancestors’ naughty times. Isn’t that right...LADY MADELEINE!”
Madeleine paused yawning. Her eyes widened for a moment. “I beg your pardon!”
“I can see it all now.” Shawn stood over her. “You were already sick of seeing your name in the magazines as the jilted fiancée of the King. When Riley asked you to be her publicist, it was a slap in the face for a Countess and former Queen in training. But you took it, because your family name was on the line. You had to correct your image somehow. What better way than to appear not only fine being pushed aside, but also being magnanimous to the foreign interloper.”
Madeleine stared silently at him as he continued.
“It was going well until Riley decided to present Liam with a rare and very odd wedding gift. Seriously. Naught underwear is what all men want for gifts.” Shawn turned to Riley and Liam. “Back me up on this guys.”
“It’s true.” Drake muttered.
“Drake!” Riley exclaimed.
“No, he’s right, blossom. It is all we want.” Maxwell added.
Riley blushed and turned to Liam. “Were you disappointed?”
Liam shook his head. “Of course not. I love everything you have given me.” He frowned at Shawn, Drake, and Maxwell. “Proceed Mr. Spencer.”
“If only Riley had not found it.” Shawn continued. “You didn’t realize what it had until you flipped through it. Then you saw what your ancestors did. It wasn’t just on your mother’s side in 1728 that your people got into trouble, but also on your father’s side in 1817. After a little bit of research and the help of Olivia’s memory of your father being from England, it seems the former Duke of Karlington was involved in trying to overthrow Queen Charlotte. Couldn’t have that be discovered, could you?”
Madeleine glared at Olivia. “I should have known that a descendant from traitors would make certain to point out other decent noble’s despicable relatives.”
“You took the book and decided to have those pages removed. But how to do it in a way that Liam wouldn’t notice?” Shawn interrupted before Olivia could retaliate. “You needed to have the book taken apart by a specialist and then rebounded. Simple glue apparently wouldn’t do with the old leather. That’s why if we go to your desk we will find a brochure for a book binding place called Rebound.”
Madeleine paled. She stood up and lifted her chin. “Yes, I took it. If I refuse to recognize my ancestors that betrayed their monarchs then no one else should.”
Gus and Shawn shared a fist bump as Liam had Bastien lead Madeleine away.
Once she was gone, Shawn turned his sharp eyes on Drake and Olivia. “I see what the big secret is. I wasn’t sure which John Hughes movie you were. I thought maybe a gender switched Pretty In Pink. But now that you are all together, I see you guys are The Breakfast Club.”
“What?!” Everyone exclaimed.
“Olivia is Molly Ringwald. She’s rich and fallen for the less economically sound tough guy, Judd Nelson or Drake in this instance. Liam is Emilo Estevez. Nice. Popular. Everyone likes him. I guess that means Riley is Ally Sheedy. Hmm. Hana doesn’t really have a character. We could make you the principal but that just seems mean. Maybe the little sister to Anthony Michael Hall...but you’re too sweet for that too.  Maxwell...you’re Anthony Michael Hall but way cooler.” Shawn pointed at each one. “And just like in the movie, Molly and Judd are meeting in secret to be together.”
Everyone stared at the duchess and the commoner that were both speechless at their secret being discovered.
“And my work here is done.” Shawn exclaimed, rubbing his hands together. He walked over to the door. “If you will excuse me, I’m going to catch up on that sleep everyone was mentioning earlier.”
_____________
“I am going to miss this country. After Hana refused my offer of marriage, I guess this will only be a fond memory.” Shawn said as he boarded the plane with the others.
“I’m just glad she made us going away bags.” Gus opened his and frowned. “Shawn! Where are my cookies?”
“Hmm? Seems like another mystery.” He held tight to his bag as Gus demanded he either share what he had or return what was stolen. “Man, I didn’t take your cookies.”
“You must be out of your damned mind if you think I believe that.” Gus argued. The best friends began to talk over one another, bringing up the great cupcake incident of fifth grade.
Juliet sighed as she sat down with Carlton. “It’s going to be a long flight.”
Carlton nodded. “Good thing I stole Guster’s bag of baked goods.” He offered a cookie to Juliet. She glanced at Shawn and Gus before biting into a chocolate chip cookie.

request: art major!reader w law major!doyoung pls :cc bullet note format if u can!!!
a/n: he’s a year older than you but it doesn’t matter that much
warning: a few swear words oopsie
genre: fluffy college!au
pairing: doyoung x reader
summary: ummm basically just how you and doyoung meet and get to know each other
word count: 5.1k (oops)
lets GOOOOOOOO
okay so basically college has been a JOURNEY
people ALWAYS had some shit to say as soon as they found out you were an art major
it was usually “what are you going to do with that” “do you know how unsteady that career path is”
liKE I GET IT
do they really think they’re telling you something new????
oh I’m sorry your majoring in business Susan™ and you decide to throw away your passions just because some high school counselor told you that you wouldn’t be able to support yourself but IM going to make my passion a career
lol sorry I have a lot of feelings
now onto how you met your mans doyoung
your freshman and sophomore years, you had only seen him in passing
tbh you barely recognized him when you saw him more than once
you knew him as “that one dude that i always see in the dining hall wearing suits”
then junior year you got a job at the convenience store on campus (lets get this BREAD)
pls tell me it isn’t some weird niche thing that only my school has
aNyWHO he started coming in around 2 am right before closing
and ALWAYS picked up 3 coffees all of which had double shots of espresso
this happened about 2 or 3 times a week
(which is very unhealthy guys gals and nonbinary pals pls try to drink cold water instead, it helps wake me up or green tea)
so despite seeing him so often at work, he began to appear less and less everywhere else
were you lowkey kinda sad about it???
mAYhaPS
that was until winter quarter started
you needed an elective class, SO you figured ‘eh why not take philosophy’ you had heard around that the professor is really chill and overall the class wasn’t supposed to be that bad
WELL GUESS AGAIN
because that really nice professor that everyone loved isn’t the one teaching the class this quarter
but hey you figured let’s go into this with an open mind and hope for the best
well on day one of this class (which is a 9 am by the way) guess who struts through the door
mister “that one guy i’d always see wearing a suit” who became mister “that one dude who always buys too much coffee at 3 am”
the man… the myth…… the legend………….MISTER KIM DOYOUNG
yep and ya boi decided to sit 2 seats down from you, it was too far to say hi or anything (esp bc you had never really spoken to him before) but like he was also just close enough for it to be awkward
so class went by normally you found out that the new professor wasn’t THAT bad but there was definitely gonna be a lot of work involved
so yeah life carries on as normal
you still see him all the time at the convenience store
one night it had been a particularly rough shift
your alarm didn’t go off, so you were running late, it had started to rain on your walk to work, and when you finally got there your manager apparently had someone piss in his cheerios because he had S U C H an attitude because you were
 TWO
MINUTES
LATE
you were sat behind the counter after what felt like hours of sweeping and mopping the floors
that’s when he walked in
you didn’t even lift your head to greet him as “hi, welcome” crawled itself out of your mouth
you did however notice when he sat his 3 cans of coffee in front of you
“hey your y/n right?”
“that’s what it says on my nametag”
“haha yeah it does. i think i have you in my philosophy class”
when you finally met his eyes, you felt a little bad
you had kinda been giving him the cold shoulder for something that wasn’t his fault
you gave him a little smile
“yeah i am. doyoung right?”
he nodded slightly
the air was a little awkward and silent as you scanned his coffees
as you handed him the receipt he asked “hey do you maybe want to study together sometime. i mean our test is in like two weeks and it’s a quarter of our grade so like if you were free we could hang out and get some work done?”
dUDE you froze
here he was standing right in front of you; messy hair, sweatpants, a sweatshirt repping your school logo and looking very nervous (but very attractive lmao)
i guess your reply took a little too long because he quickly started to back peddle
“i mean if you prefer to study alone that’s cool. i just always see you during lecture and you look like you understand the material and sometimes i get a little lost in terminology but if you don’t want to that’s fine too.”
you quickly snapped out of your haze
“no, no. i would love to study with you. here let me give you my number so we can meet up. most of my classes are in the morning so any time after like noon should be fine.”
you grabbed his receipt back and quickly scribbled your number on it before handing it back
“just text me when you want to get together”
okay honestly you had never been one to give out your phone number just like that and you didn’t really like studying with people
but something about him made it so hard to say no
you just had this urge to get to know him
so when he texted you a few days later asking if you were free to study that night
of course you said yes
and it went pretty smoothly
he has a much better understanding of the material than he let on at first
he even ended up helping you understand a few things
you got together w few times over the next couple of weeks
each time you met you got to know each other more and more
yall quickly became friends
well yall became friends after the first night studying because lets be real it was awKWARD
like neither of you felt particularly comfortable yet because this was the first time you had actually hung out with each other despite knowing of each other’s existence for two years
oh yeah that’s something you found out after getting to know one another
he had always seen you around campus and wanted to get to know you but never did because he thought it’d freak you out having a random stranger coming up to you like
‘hey I know you don’t know me but I see you all the time. let’s be friends.’
which isn’t THAT crazy but to each their own
okay but let’s jump to the time 2 days before your exam
you guys agreed to meet up at the library and the plan was to study for A WHILE just to make sure you were prepared ya know?
so like you get there and he was already sitting in a room waiting
when you open the door he gets up to hug you
which he hasn’t ever done before
and like tbh he was really warm and smelled really nice like it his cologne wasn’t too strong, and it smelt sweet but also very inviting which isn’t really a scent but like do you get me? and he gave a really tight hug like the type that you didn’t want to let go of it felt as though you could stay there forever (this is also where you lowkey start having feelings for him but shhh because you don’t realize it yet)
so back the point
obvi you start studying and besides the hug nothing was really that different
you got through the material, quizzed each other, talked a bit
ya know the usual
time flew by and the next thing you know it’s 12:30 am and the library would be closing at 1 so you decide to wrap it up
“alright doyoung i’ll see you in class. get some rest before the test okay?”
“yeah yeah i will” he rolled his eyes a little bit
“seriously dude. i know you. go straight to sleep when you get back to your place”
he worried you sometimes. He really wanted to do well and the applications for law school were opening up soon, so he’s been kinda stressed no matter how much he tried to hide it and this test coming up isn’t helping
“i will. i promise.”
he walked you out of the library and you two would usually part ways and walk alone to your apartments
before you could turn and say goodbye doyoung was already speaking
“hey it’s a lot darker out here than usual”
you looked up at the pitch-black sky
“yeah I guess it is, oh well at least I have my pep-“
“what? you have your pepper spray right?”
“no i forgot that i let my roommate borrow it. she’s going to a sorority thing and won’t be back until like 3 or 4. it’s fine though my apartment is only like a 10-minute walk. goodnight do”
“wait y/n. i’ll walk you back. it’s way too late and too dark for you to go home”
“no i couldn’t ask you to do that. you’re law and society class is at 8 am tomorrow so you need to get some sleep.”
“well i won’t be able to sleep anyway if I’m staying up worried about you. so lead the way.”
despite the cold fall air, your face felt hot
like you know that it’s normal for friends to be worried about each other but that didn’t make doyoung saying it any less charming
the walk back was nerve wracking
you guys normally don’t hang out outside of the context of studying
so like this was weird, nice but weird
and once you go to your door there was a cast of silence
doyoung was just looking at you
normally it would make you kinda uncomfy/insecure but right now you were calm
there was something about looking into his eyes
the brown was so warm and inviting
after a few seconds of the comfortable silence, he finally looked away
and I awkwardly cleared my throat “thank you for walking me home doyoung”
“of course, i’m just gald to know you got here safely”
“so um, i was gonna wish you luck just in case we don’t see each other before the test but i mean judging from our study session you won’t need it though.”
he giggled and i swear someone could have mopped up your heart because it was in a puddle on the floor
“shut up y/n. thank you though. i always appreciate your kind words. do you want to meet for lunch after the exam? i usually have a lab afterwards but it got cancelled so if you’re free we should meet up.” asjdjjklcbclkNCKDLSNCOS
“yeah i am free. i guess i’ll see you then.”
he took a few steps back “yeah i guess you will. goodnight y/n”
“goodnight doyoung. actually get some sleep tonight, yeah?”
you could see his shoulders shake with laughter as he walked down the steps
to say you were smitten would be an UNDERSTATEMENT
the smile that showed up didn’t leave even after you fell asleep
when you get to class on that friday morning, doyoung is already sitting in his usual seat
the bags that usually take their place beneath his eyes are barely visible today
hopefully he took your advice and actually went to sleep
after the test you both got some burgers for lunch and just talked it had nothing to do with the test which was nice
i guess y’all make a great pair because once the scores came out, both of you got A’s
after that studying together became a routine
every tuesday, thursday and saturday leading up to the next test,  you guys would review or sometimes just hang out
it was a mutual decision to help each other study
even if you didn’t share the class, one would be there to quiz and make sure the other focused (most of the time it worked, other times you’d be the reason they got distracted and vice versa)
the two of you would go out for lunch on those days instead
as the quarter drew to a close and the break got nearer and nearer as did finals week
you and doyoung tried to keep up with your study schedule but it was getting harder
you had artwork due
you were particularly stressed over a sculpture that was assigned
your teacher gave you those choice of clay or marbleas a medium and clearly you chose clay
you were going to do marble but then you remembered the other 3 tests you need to prepare for and a portfolio that had to fit the theme of mythology
so basically you had a lot of art to produce and NO INSPIRATION like none, zero, zip, zilch, nada
you sat in the room you had reserved in the arts building
a pile of clay sat atop a slab of rock, a blank page of a sketchbook sat next to that
scrolling through pinterest had stopped working long ago and at this point you were losing hope
ring, ring, ring
doyoung’s name popped up on your screen
it was odd because you two usually texted for everything
“hey, do what’s up?”
“hi y/n i was just wondering if you wanted to grab some fro-yo. i just got out of another test and could use some company”
“ahh, doyoung i’m sorry but i’m stuck doing work. do you remember that mythology sculpture i told you about? well, it’s due next Wednesday and i haven’t even started on it yet”
his voice sounded so concerned “is everything okay? how are you doing?”
“i’m doing okay, just tired. i’ve been trying so hard but can’t find any inspiration” you sighed into the phone, looking out the window of your room
“what room are you in?”
“room 247 in building B. why?”
“just sit tight.”
the call ended before you could ask any more questions
okay when i tell yall it was less than five minutes and he was walking through the door just know that what i really mean is he rAN FROM THE OTHER SIDE OF CAMPUS TO COME COMFORT YOU
so yeah, he got there huffin and puffin, ready to blow your house down (with love)
“doyoung, what are you doing here?”
“well you were upset.” his tone was so matter-of-fact, and his eyes were so wide and innocent
honestly he looked so cute but like you were still very confused
what was he doing there?????
yeah you were upset but you also didn’t want to worry him
he casually walked over to a seat beside a window and pulled something out of his backpack
as he got closer and reached his hand out for you to take it, you noticed it was a sandwich
“it’s ham and cheese. light mayo, no lettuce or tomato”
when your eyes looked up at him he wouldn’t make eye contact
“you said this is the only way you take your sandwiches”
yALL
you only told him this once in passing because he was eating a sandwich with mayo
but pls tell you are putting the pieces together
he stopped to get you food and made it across campus in 5 minutes
the walk alONE SHOULD HAVE TAKEN 10 MINUTES
HE STOPPED AND GOT YOU FOOD TO MAKE SURE YOU WEREN’T SKIPPING ANY MEALS
MARRY THID MANFSJDLFG
alrighty anywho
obviously you took the sandwich and spent 5 minutes thanking him for getting it for you
he sat back down in his seat near the window as you guys chatted for a bit
the conversation slowed slightly and you were able to just look at him
the light was bouncing off his face perfectly
his eyes looked like freshly brewed coffee. they were warm and inviting
his smile somehow managed to outshine the light pouring in
there he was
in all of his glory
your muse
your inspiration
his expression shifted to one of confusion
“y/n, why are you looking at me like that”
he could be your subject for not only the sculpture but also the portfolio as well
“okay this may be an odd favor and you can feel free to say no”
your leg couldn’t stop bouncing up and down and you thought your hands might catch a cramp from all the wringing they were doing
“don’t be silly. what is it?”
“well, i was thinking maybe you could be the model for my sculpture.”
“of course i will but i thought it was supposed to be about mythology and i’m no greek god”
he chuckled a little bit
“shut up do. are you kidding me? your shoulders are like a mile wide. you have a great jawline and that smile? you’d have all the mortal girls falling for you i mean i did. that sounds like god-material to me”
he threw his head back laughing
mostly to hide the huge blush creeping up his cheeks
“okay, okay. i’ll pose for you. what do i have to do?”
“just sit still so that i can take some measurements of your face and then i’ll take some photos for reference afterwards.”
doyoung did as he was told for the most part
he sat there patiently
he kept peeking at your sketchbook as you laid out the rough ideas for a few of your other pieces
tbh you hadn’t even noticed
you were in the ZONE, you hadn’t been this inspired in a while and you wanted to take full advantage of it
you also hadn’t noticed the ,,,, um,,,, lack of space,,,,,, between the two of you
well doyoung had, to say the least
he sat there desperately hoping and praying that you wouldn’t notice how sharply he would breathe in everytime your hands touched his face to move its position
or that you couldn’t notice how much his hands were shaking and how he was constantly wiping them on his pants because they were very sweaty
finally, you had all the information you needed
as you stepped back and over to your chair in front of the clay, doyoung could finally breath
“doyoung, do you have any other classes today? i don’t want to keep you here if you have plans. you can go i can work off of the reference pictures”
he very vigorously shook his head
“no no, i’m free for the day.”
“okay. you should probably go get something to eat while get this started. this will probably be a long process.”
“yeah sure. do you want me to grab you anything while I’m gone?”
“nope i’m good. i already had the sandwich you brought me.”
“okay then i’ll be right back”
after he left it easy to feel the emptiness of the room
even though you were enveloped in your work it was still noticeable
the absence of his presence was palpable
the lack of it was almost suffocating
while you were worked on getting the basic shape and structure you found yourself unsettled
unable to get back into the ‘zone’ you found yourself in before
still, you pushed through the weird shift in the air, but it wasn’t long before doyoung came back with a bag of food
“hey doyoung.”
he glanced over at your pile of clay
“whoa. you made a lot of progress. okay i know you said that you didn’t want anything to eat but i brought burgers and some chips and stuff just in case.
“doyoung, you really didn’t have to. i would have been fine.”
he rolled his eyes but didn’t reply. he simply sat back in his chair and ate some of the fries that came with his burger
the hours seemed to fly by once doyoung returned
it also helped that you played music on the speaker that you brought
before you knew it, it was 5 pm and the sun was setting
you leaned back from your chair to stretch before standing and taking a good look at the sculpture
after about 4 hours of work, you were almost done
of course there were still things that needed to be touched up, like the hair and the eyes
you had decided on a pose of doyoung looking up and off into the distance
you turned and washed your hands in the sink at the back of the room
“here’s your burger if you want it. it might be a little cold, but it doesn’t have any mustard, lettuce, tomato, or pickle. that’s how you like it right?”
YALL HE DID IT AGAIN
HE REALLY JUST OUT HERE BEIN A WHOLE SWEETHEART
“yeah, how’d you know?”
“remember we met up for dinner before a study session a few weeks ago? that’s how you ordered your burger and you told me about how dill pickles were the bane of your existence”
“which they are” you chuckled “but i can’t believe you remembered that”
“of course, i did. i remember everything you tell me”
your heart melted for like the fiFTH TIME TODAY
you smiled and blushed before grabbing the wrapped burger from his hands
you guys sat and ate in comfortable silence
once you had finished you turned to him
“if you’re ready to leave you can. i just have a few things to add but it’ll be okay if you aren’t here. i’m just about out of daylight anyway.”
he playfully cocked his head to the side and crossed his arms
“y/n. i have a feeling you’re trying to get rid of me”
“maybe i am doyoung. whatcha gonna do about it?”
“cry.”
you both busted up laughing
once you had calmed down you looked at him
“seriously do. if you wanna go study or sleep or something go ahead”
he stood up and began to walk closer to you
“oh stop that. y/n it isn’t a burden for me to stay here with you. i’m honored that you would choose me to be the subject of your work and i love spending my time with you”
at this point he was standing right in front of you. looking down into your eyes.
there was no hiding the redness flushing your skin
after a few moments of silence, you looked back down at your hands
he speaks again as if you two hadn’t spent the past minute just staring into each other’s eyes
“so what next? are you gonna keep sculpting me or are you gonna draw and paint a bit?”
“ummm ,,, i kinda want to just finish the sculpture so that i don’t have to worry about it ya know?”
“yeah. where is the light switch?”
“right by the corner near the door”
as he flipped on the switch and light once again flooded the room
you were able to get a good look at the sculpture
despite it not being finished, you were still incredibly happy and proud of it
you sat back down in front of it ready to finish the work
it only took another hour or two to finish once you really got back into it
you spent the bulk of the time adding in all the little details
and you also decided last minute to add a wreath atop his head and the top of a toga
you took a final step back before sighing in relief
you were finished
you almost wanted to cry
while you were staring at the piece doyoung got up to stand behind you and look at it as well
“wow y/n. it’s beautiful.”
“well it’s you so i hope it is.”
LOOK AT YOU. BEING BOLD. OKAAYYYY
before he could say anything else, you walked back to the sink and while washing your hands, asked his help to put it in another room to dry for a few days before it goes into the kiln
“it’ll take a while to dry so i’m going to leave it here and head to bed”
“okay well i can walk you back to your apartment”
“alrighty”
okay so you grabbed all your stuff (with his help because doyoung is too nice to just walk beside you as you try carry 4 different bags filled with art supplies)
the walk back was kind of uneventful
you invited him in to drop all your things off before he headed out, not until you thanked him for spending the day with you and being your subject
okay so 2 weeks pass
you and doyoung meet up a few times because you need him to model a few poses for your portfolio
but FINALLY you finished your portfolio and sculpture and turned it all in
since then you have been relaxing, getting ready for winter break
well “relaxing” is a loose term
tbh you had been kinda stressed over the scores you were going to get on the artwork
and today, the day before the quarter ends, your professor would be handing back your portfolio & sculpture with a score
you decided to text doyoung after getting dismissed from class
y/n: “hey i get the score for my art project back today. do you want to meet up and we can find out together?”
doyoung: “oh my gosh yes. but are you sure you want me to be there?”
y/n: “of course do. you were such a big part of this, i couldn’t leave you out of it. besides you haven’t seen the finished portfolio”
doyoung: “okay. same art room as last time?”
y/n: “yep. i’ll see you in 20”
you were nervous. as you waited in the room, your legs couldn’t stay still so you decided to pace in hopes of calming yourself down
or at least having something to do
when he walked into the room, your eyes met
there was no hiding the frantic look in them either
“hey y/n. do you have it?”
you pulled a card from inside the front of your portfolio and set it down on the table
doyoung’s voice was soft and calming as he walked up to you
“can i look at it?”
he picked up the large folder
in a large gold print:
PROMETHEUS, he dies everyday but wouldn’t wish for any other way to spend eternity
“you chose me to represent Prometheus? what’s his story”
you began to recount the tale as doyoung slowly flipped through pages of your artwork
·         “well he was the youngest of the titans, which were the creators of greek gods. it was said that he was also the kindest. when he looked upon the earth and saw how the humans were struggling, Prometheus felt pity and decided to give them a gift. he gave them a divine secret of the gods. he gave them fire. he did this despite knowing that Zeus would punish him if he found out. which he did. the other titans and gods were furious, so they tied him to a rock near the sea. every day an eagle would come and rip out prometheus’ liver and he would die. every night it would grow back bringing him back to life. this torturous routine goes on every day and night and according to the myth it continues until this day, as it will forever.”
as you finished the story doyoung closed the folder
all he said was “wow”
it made you nervous. “so ,,,,, do you like it?”
“y/n. this is beyond words. this is amazing. and you chose me?”
“well yeah i mean. you two just seemed to fit each other. you are the kindest person i know. you’re very generous too. so really it wouldn’t have worked if i had chosen anyone else or any other myth.”
he said nothing. just set down your work and hugged you.
you embraced each other. sharing this moment.
“y/n no matter the score on the other side of that car, just know that your work is beyond incredible. not just because it’s of me”
you both laughed before he continued
“seriously. you are an amazing artist. your art moves people. it makes me feel emotions that i haven’t felt in a while. it takes me on a journey.”
he pulled back and gave you one last smile before grabbing the card off of the table
“on 3”
“….1
“….2”
“….3!”
a 97 was written in bright red marker
“oh my gosh y/n”
you two jumped back into each other’s arms
the smile on your face was ear to ear. there was no way it was going to fade any time soon
“I knew you could do it.”
“not without you i couldn’t have,” you say leaning back slightly, your arms still around his neck
he rolls his eyes at you
“seriously doyoung. if you hadn’t come by that day i don’t know what i would have done. you were my muse”
his arms were wrapped tightly around your waist
your eyes would have met if his weren’t staring at your lips right now
“y/n.” he whispered
“doyoung?”
“can i kiss you?”
“absolutely”
FUCKING FINALLY
ahem sorry I got a little excited for you
it was great. what can i say
it was everything you expected to be
before you thought that the whole “fireworks” thing was just movies overexaggerating
but NOW you can attest to that
the kiss with doyoung had so much built up tension and caring and passion and just wowza
when you finally pulled apart
both of you were slightly out of breath
doyoung still had this cute, dumb smile plastered on his face
he gave you a few more pecks
which of course made you have a big dumb smile plastered on your face
you actually pulled apart and out of his arms this time and took a look at the score card
beneath your score the professor left a little note
“i hope you don’t mind but i emailed the art gallery about your work. they have a small exhibition open if you’d like to showcase your art. here’s the email: _______. please consider it. you have serious talent.”
“an art gallery doyoung. an exhibition in an art gallery.”
tears fell down your face
this was an amazing opportunity
a dream came true
“i can come over tonight and we can email them.”
you just nodded your head
tbh you were still in shock
this was a huge opportunity
“so y/n. i know there is a lot going on right now but I can’t wait. will you be my girl/boy-friend?
“doyoung of course. can you help me take this stuff back to my apartment then if you want we can go grab something to eat?”
he nodded happily and grabbed the sculpture
THE END
goodness gracious that took a while
I hope you enjoyed reading this 5 thousand-word trainwreck
I know some of the stuff about creating sculptures isn’t accurate, but I need to make it work with the timeline I had in my head
I hope it didn’t bother anyone too much
but yeah
thanks for reading
also I didn’t proofread this so hopefully there aren’t many mistakes
if there are just message me and I’ll fix them
also also here’s a sequel type thing that doesn’t have to be seen as a sequel umm it isn’t as good as this one but here ya go
