Transi de René de Chalon by Ligier Richier
This transi has become one of my ‘milestone subjects,’ I tend to take a stab at it after a year or so has passed and usually find myself pleased with the progress I’m making as an artist. I also appreciate the fact it’s helping me figure out which brush settings in procreate work with me rather than against me.

The Sainte-Chapelle de Vincennes is a Gothic royal chapel within the fortifications of the Château de Vincennes on the east edge of Paris, France. It was inspired by the Sainte-Chapelle, the royal chapel within the Palais de la Cité in Paris. It was begun in 1379 by Charles V of France to house relics of the Passion of Christ. It is no longer used as a church, and is now a French historical monument operated by the Centre des monuments nationaux.
Here on display the side chapel with the tombe of the Duc d'Enghien who was executed in 1804. (He was charged , innocently it seemed afterwards, to be involved complotting against First Consul Napoleon Bonaparte.) The sculpture is made by Pierre Louis Deseine in 1824.

📖 Tullio Lombardo, or Tullio Solari – came from a prestigious family of sculptors and architects in Venice.
Tullio refined his father's somewhat stiff style into a more natural, highly polished one. He has been described as the first sculptor in Venice who could achieve convincing classical proportions.
He worked in such close collaboration with his father Pietro (c. 1438-1515) and his younger brother Antonio (c. 1458-c. 1516). Together they were referred to simply as a Lombardi [the Lombards].
The Lombardo family worked together to sculpt famous Catholic churches and tombs.

(Lombardi [the Lombards]).
