Guess Who?
It’s Timekeeper!!!
Tumblr media
Timekeeper started off as an AI The Narrator made to keep track of settings and time after a failed attempt to create a protagonist. A form was built, but was scrapped. When TK gained sentience, he didn’t have the power to do much except mess with the clock and settings. She slowly expanded her power though through the powerful desire to fuck with The Narrator. They weren’t aware of much going on outside of their space until connecting with the computers of the parable where they became aware of Stanley. Xe gains access to the time and space between resets where Xe starts interacting with Stanley and the become partners in crime.
Stanley and TK are great buddies and their favorite activity is messing with The Narrator, made funnier by the fact The Narrator has no clue TK is even there. He does eventually find out though once TK manages to pull its scrapped form out of recycling and fix it and gets caught interacting with Stanley. Stanley and TK also often talk about their false memories and what kinds of lives they would lead in the real world. TK doesn’t really care if he gets to experience the real world, but does admit that it might be fun, and new things means new ideas means new ways to prank The Narrator.
The Narrator and TK have more of a rivalry, with TK thinking The Narrator as a stuck up buzzkill who puts too much value in perfection and meaning, while The Narrator thinks TK is annoying, irresponsible, and irreverent. They aren’t really friends, but they’re not enemies either, and will reluctantly admit when the other may have a point. They’re sort of like roommates and maybe siblings.
TK doesn’t interact with The Curator or Mariella as much, but they’re friends. TK knows how and when to bring the fun to them and they both appreciate it. They all hold more of a sibling dynamic. They all have tea together, chat, and play fight, especially TK and Mariella. The Curator is great at reigning in TK, which can be frustrating when a certain someone starts whining about someone else messing with his game.
More human form
Tumblr media
It’s funny to me how many of us, at least initially (and even a little bit now), had a similar idea of how Timekeeper would look with a physical form. I found myself having a lot of difficulty deciding what I wanted them to look like exactly since there’s so many creative designs people have come up with. I was thinking of trying to design a very non-human form for it. One thing that does slightly bother me is that I have that last character for the proctor lineup that is very similar looking, but I’m hoping it’s just different enough so it doesn’t feel too much like I’m copy pasting the same character.

gn child
thank yluuuu🫡🫡
Hi! I hopped you like that fic 🙂
Little Friend
Platonic! Yandere! Kirara x GN! Child! Reader (plus, a tiny bit of Platonic! Mentor! Yae Miko)
Tumblr media
Description: Cat is chasing after the mouse, together they cause shenanigans in the shrine, and fox is thinking about the past.
Warning: OOC. English is my second language. Platonic Yandere.
Reader based on kodama nezumi
_____
Yae Miko has many duties.
As head of the Grand Narukami Shrine, she must oversee the shrine, and makes sure, that people are getting needed help and not causing troubles.
As owner of the Yae Publishing House, she has to make sure, that writers aren't fooling around, and submit new works in time.
As Eternity's servant and friend, she keeps Ei company, reminding her old friend about the beauty of an ever-changing world.
But, Yae Miko had one more duty.
As an older and wiser youkai, and as youkai, who is to live alongside humanity, she must teach young youkais, how to live near humans.
Today, she has another lesson with one of her current youkai pupils. A child with mouse's ears and tail.
She called them [Y/N], and, right now, they were starting to get late for their lesson.
[Y/N] were a kodama nezumi, a mouse youkai, who could create small firework-like explosions. Their explosions weren't harmful, and were used by kodama nezumis to escape from danger.
Mice youkais were quite rare, even back in the Kitsune Saiguu's days, so, Yae Miko was really surprised, when she found [Y/N] few months ago, when few villagers came to shrine, begging for help. They insisted, that evil spirits start haunting the village, causing loud noises at night. Yae Miko, who had a rare moment of free time, agreed to visit the village. She was sure, that there were no evil spirits, and villagers were simply mistaken some forest animals' noises for ghosts' howling. Yae Miko were waiting for the moment, when she will prove villagers, that they were wrong. Some soft teasing won't hurt them.
However, both sides were wrong.
Kitsune was sure, that kodama nezumis went instinct. And she was quite shocked, when, after she went to investigate, she saw a kid with mouse's ears and tail, who were hiding in a tool shed and were playing with old temari.
After a quick chase (kid were sure, that "foxy wants to eat me", so they tried to escape), Yae Miko managed to convince [Y/N] to trust her. She promised to teach them, how to live with humans.
Ever since then, [Y/N] were visiting Narukami Shrine twice a week.
Yae Miko carefully rubbed her temples. She had an idea, why little mouse youkai were late. And, for the love of Electro Archon, she hopped that she was wrong.
The sounds of people jumping, loud squeaking, happy meowing and shrine maidens' "Lady Yae, they are here again!" crashed kitsune's hope. She made a deep breath and left the shrine building.
She immediatly saw a big, round mouse and a two-tailed cat in a special express delivery running around the Sacred Sakura.
As usual, Kirara and [Y/N] were causing troubles.
Their meeting was an incident. Kirara was delivering a package to Guuji Yae when Yae Miko had a lesson with [Y/N]. Meeting between nekomata and kodama nezumi, between a cat and a mouse, went as good as you can guess.
With a loud "Cat!" squeak, [Y/N] transformed into their mouse form and ran off. In a flash, transformed cat Kirara chased after them. After that, Yae Miko herself hurried after the duo, quickly commanding shrine maidens to catch the cat.
It was quite a chase. [Y/N], despite being young, were smart. They managed to trick Kirara into running on the top of the shrine, got tangled in bushes and ran into Kano Nana. After that, both [Y/N] and Kirara were caught and brought back to Yae Miko. Kitsune scold them for their behavior. She also reassured [Y/N], promising, that Kirara won't eat them, and made Kirara promise not to scare the mouse kid.
Yae Miko wasn't sure, if her talk worked.
Kirara was still chasing after [Y/N] from time to time.
[Y/N] still were jumpy around Kirara.
Their chase became famous through all Inazuma. They became so famous, that one of the new authors from publishing house started to write a series of children books about smart mouse being chased by sly cat.
Meanwhile, [Y/N] and Kirara were running in circles around shrine maidens. Suddenly, mouse [Y/N] climbed on one of the maidens and jumped, landing on Yae Miko's sleeve, while Kirara continue running around the shrine maidens. When nekomata realized, that kodama nezumi were gone, she froze, looking around in shock.
Mouse on Yae's sleeve were squeaking happily, but, after noticing their mentor's gaze, got silent, jumped down and transformed into their human form. Kirara followed their example. The duo looked guilty.
"[Y/N]." softly called Yae Miko. Kid's mouse's ears perked up.
"Yes, Great Guuji Yae?"
Yae smiles slightly and pointed back to the shrine.
"Please, go here. Our lesson will start soon, so, get ready."
Kodama nezumi nodded and skipped towards the shrine. Yae Miko turned her attention to Kirara. Her voice became slightly strict.
"Kirara, how many times I asked you not to chase after [Y/N]? You are scaring them."
Nekomata's tails twitched.
"But, Guuji Yae, I just want to help My little friend! But every time I try to offer my help, they refuse or try to change the topic. But I just want to help!"
Yea Miko raised an eyebrow. Kirara elaborated.
"They are a kid, they won't have any way to take care of themselves! And I can take care of them! They can live with me, I will find a cozy box for them, I will feed them. I will be their big sister!" with every word Kirara's eyes shined with some strange emotion. Yae shook her head.
"Kirara, your heart is in a right place. But, please, take it slowly. Don't harass [Y/N], and, maybe, one day, you two will be close friend, and, maybe, [Y/N] will see you as a big sister. But, please, be patient."
With that words, Yae Miko turned around and returned to the shrine. She has a lesson to teach to [Y/N].
_______
Kirara was on her way to the bottom of Mt. Yougou. She wasn't able to get [Y/N] to her home once again. But, she wasn't sad. As Guuji Yae said, it can be changed in a future.
One day, [Y/N] will live with her. Granny will love them for sure. Kirara will play with [Y/N], will teach them how to read and write. She will buy [Y/N] anything they want! There would be no need for them to go outside.
One day, her little friend will be safe, happy and sound. And right by her side.

okay i'm really curious, what would it be like to date a hypogean and a celestial at the same time? it could be any of the celestials/hypogeans, really, but i'm specifically curious about phraesto and dionel. would they even be able to tolerate each other for merlin's sake, or is there that inevitable scenario where they always end up at each other's necks?
i also find it kinda funny that they're both similar in their own ways-- both are lazy, both have vices (dionel's drinking and phraesto's smoking), both engage in the arts or literature in some form. how would that fare for merlin?
n o t e: this isn't really a request, it's more of a question, or if it was meant as a request you should've followed my template because i'll answer in a more casual, conversational way (using second person as i do).

Tumblr media
Well, wild thing to start off with, threesomes would be interesting if you manage to survive. And I doubt you could. Phaestro and Dionel are quite similar in some regards, but while Dionel is chill and social, Phaestro is more closed off and doesn't speak to many people except for when he tries to "Hallucinations be upon ye" an innocent person. You'd have to keep him on a metaphorical leash.
You see, I don't think they'd show OUTRIGHT agression. Dionel isn't the type and Phaestro is more the type to yap and monologue endlessly at someone, just talking at them. For your sake I think Dionel would take it but would complain when Mr. Pesto is out of earshot. If Phaestro tried to fight Dionel he'd brush him off. Phaestro is trigger happy with his magic so Dionel miiight have to pull you out of a daze at times. It might escalate to threats from Dionel. They'll never be shit like "I'll rip out your throat", they're way more subtle, again, he's a master of passive aggression. Truly an inspiration to mothers everywhere.
Both would always ask why you even like the other. If you tell them they're alike, you better prepare for a rant for why they're TOTALLLLYYYYYY different and like not at all similar, nah, for sure not similar...
If it's any other combination... oh boy. If it's Scarlita and mf Berial they'll be chasing each other like Tom and Jerry, that one would be near impossible to handle. One is a jester from the depths of the abyss and another a robot from the heavens- neither understand jack squat about humanity unlike the hunk duo. Being around them is like stepping into another world. Despite being "good" Scarlita is cold, and Berial is warmer and "evil". They balance each other out and... make each other so, so much worse? I don't think it's impossible for them to get along. They could form a kind of frenemies thing. I can see it.
Same thing with Reinier and Talene. Shit's gonna get realllyyy interesting. They have their strong values in common. Problem is those values are opposite. They view everything through strange eyes you can't quite parse, one striving for good as in purity, acceptance, light, the other striving for his version of good- a very twisted one at that, one that destroys to rebuild a perfect version of reality. Both realities are frankly impossible and Reinier and Talene are both perfectionists in their own ways. One is the praise kink and the other is the degradation kink. The angel and devil on your shoulder. Here you have true, deep hate between them. And you're the only thing they can agree on... eh, mostly, because they treat you completely differently even though you mean a lot to both.
In short, it'd be highly interesting and not out of the realm of possibility. Dionel & Phaestro- chill, most likely to tolerate each other, Scarlita & Berial- chaotic frenemies, Reinier & Talene- DEATH DEATH WAR, NOPE.
Interesting ask! Makes me want to write an actual fic about some of these...

Could I hear more of your thoughts on Doc Savage and the archetype he created? How does it relate to modern superheroes more specifically Reed Richards? (I know that you dislike Doc Savage, so sorry if this bothers you.)
Sorta like this, if we take a look at how Doc's archetype was formed and consolidated, and how that affected the Superheroes and Reed Richards specifically. (also please don't apologize, you all can ask me questions about whatever, seriously)
Tumblr media
"Doc Savage" is recognizable in lots of other characters but there is a difference between specific pastiches or tributes or parodies of Doc (Doc Samson, Edison Rex, Jonas Venture), and characters who are evoking Doc Savage as his own archetype to draw initial inspiration from (Tom Strong, Bane, Clark Kent), and if we pull at Doc's roots we're gonna get to prior characters like Tarzan and Sherlock who were the ones to introduce or codify much of what are now commonplace superhero traits or the ones to introduce much of what Doc was originally pulling from.
I wanna draw some lines in the sand separating what is it that these characters brought to the table, in the road to get to Reed Richards and what exactly is it that Reed and Doc have in common vs things they have that are mainly taken from characters before them/grandfathered in their respective mediums. So let's go over the Archetypes here:
The Sci-Fi Superman: Coined by Peter Coogan. Through some strange birth or scientific intervention, these characters have superhuman powers and abilities that set them irrevocably apart from humanity, nearly forcing them to usually fall into the roles of saviors, rulers, destroyers, or ostracized/self-imposed hermits. Unless they find a purpose requiring said abilites, they cannot be permitted to exist and usually meet a tragic demise or is stripped of said power. Formative example is The Creature from Frankenstein (Mary Shelley), and others include Hugo Danner from Gladiator (Phillip Wylie) and Bill Dunn from The Reign of The Superman (Jerry Siegel). Coogan considers John Carter the first wholly positive and heroic SF superman, which is disputable, but more on Carter later.
Pulp Ubermensch: The Great Man turned do-gooding adventurer with a prosocial agenda. A human who is physically, mentally, and/or morally superior to those around him as a result of training/upbringing, skilled at everything the story requires him to, who applies his talents and abilities near-exclusively to fight evil. Formative example is Nick Carter (created by John R. Coryell and penned by Frederick Van Rensselaer Dey), who established much of what would eventually become pulp hero and superhero convention consequently.
The Great Adventurer: I'm naming these as a counterpoint to The Great Detective, the fantastical globetrotting adventurer/explorer hero who can go anywhere and do anything, who takes to the world as the detective takes to the city. The idea of a wealthy, offbeat, yet good-natured pulp hero who goes around righting wrongs with like-minded assistants. Formative example here is Rocambole (Ponson du Terrail), in most ways a definitive early Pulp Ubermensch, and arguably the first proto-superhero to assemble a gang of odd companions with a variety of talents and backgrounds to aid him, which is what both the Fabulous Five and the Fantastic Four can trace roots back to.
Pulp Supermen: Offshoots of the Sci-Fi Superman as adventure protagonists in serialized stories, where their superhuman natures and status are alleviated and redirected by the need of their capabilities somewhere or in service of something, and thus they get around the ruler/savior/destroyer fate by being heroes with a social calling akin to the Pulp Ubermensch, dedicated to use their powers near-exclusively to fight injustice without rocking the boat of society by their presence (or if necessary, assert dominion ONLY in a setting outside of human society, such as the jungle or Martian civilization). Distinguished from the Pulp Ubermensch by their greater larger-than-life explicitly superhuman abilities, that they don't need to be morally/mentally superior to the extent of a Pulp Ubermensch, and by the fantastical settings and tone of their adventures. Formative examples are John Carter of Mars and Tarzan of the Apes (both created by Edgar Rice Burroughs), with Tarzan quoted by Lester Dent as a specific influence on Doc (there are others but we're skipping most of those not relevant here)
The Science Adventurer: A frequently-used name to describe Doc Savage and Doc Savage-alikes. Doc Savage can be described, in archetype word salad terms, as a Pulp Superman who calls upon the Pulp Ubermensch's great man-ness and urban social calling, and who combines a Sci-Fi Superman origin and physical traits with The Great Adventurer's explorer disposition, righteousness and band of companions. The main thing that sets him apart from the characters listed prior is his focus on scientific prowess, technology, reasoning and polymathic skills, the importance of the "Doc" part of his name as it where.
The Superhero: you already know what these are and how they relate to the above. I've written a couple of things about the differences between pulp heroes and superheroes and it's a subject I'm of constantly mixed opinions on even regarding stuff I wrote, so I'm linking these two written a year apart if you want an idea of where those differences are.
Tumblr media
And so we get to Reed, who I'm naming a Science-Adventurer Superhero as a merger of the last two. Both Stan Lee and Jack Kirby mentioned several times that they read Doc Savage aplenty during the Depression and it shows in elements such as the Baxter Building (an expansion of Doc's headquarters in the Empire State Building - instead of just the 86th floor, The Four get the entire skyscraper), the specialized aircraft and vehicles, the fights and antagonism between the cantankerous and anti-social Ben Grimm and the smart-mouthed Johnny Storm mirroring the bickering spats between the bestial Monk and the silver-tongued Ham, and of course Beast from X-Men being more closeled modeled on Monk's ape-ish traits and scientific expertise (there's a fairly large argument to be made, that I think accounts for some of why Beast is, like that, in recent comics, that Ben Grimm and Hank McCoy both divided Monk Mayfair's every trait between themselves and ultimately flipped the script in the long run before taking it to the farthest extremes possible as polarized opposites of each other, with Ben initially getting most of the bad parts and making them the best ones, and Hank initially getting all the good ones and making them into the worst ones)
As far as I know, Reed Richards was not consciously modeled after Doc Savage (although Jack Kirby and Joe Simon's Private Strong used the origin story of a professor raising his son in a lab to be perfect in total isolation of other humans, which Lester likely may have pulled from Phillip Wylie's The Savage Gentleman to begin with), although it's commonly said that the direct precursors of the Four, the Challengers of the Unknown, were modeled after Doc Savage and the Fabulous Five's make-up. The members of the Fantastic Four are all based on 50s sci-fi archetypes, with Reed as the quintessential scientist, the grey-templed pipe-smoking patriarch frontman of the expeditions, and some creators over the years seem to have drawn upon Doc Savage as a model Reed. I'm thinking specifically of Mark Waid here, who openly named Doc Savage in his pitch bible:
The eternal problem with Scientifically Inclined Genius Adventures, the reason they don't ring true, is because in real life scientists spend all their damn time in the lab. Not Reed.
F'r pete's sake, we know he undertook all sorts of Indiana Jones missions as a younger man, we've seen that he actively enlisted in a war, and oh yeah, he stole a rocketship and tried to take it to the moon."
Tommy B put his finger on it when he suggested I stop thinking of Reed as the Professor from Gilligan's Island and instead think of him more like Doc Savage. When Reed encounters mental or logistic obstacles in his quest for knowledge, he thinks through them.
Doc Savage, of course, isn't the perfect model - he's a little more blood-and-gristle than Reed, more invested in the search for justice than for knowledge, and a little more "in the moment" as a general rule. Reed's more like Peter Weller as Buckaroo Banzai, they have the same aloof, detached nature. Unless active danger is staring him right in the face, Reed often seems a bit distant and not completely here because his mind is ten minutes in the future.
That addresses the Science-Adventurer aspect, which leaves us with the Superhero side of the equation.
Tumblr media
With Doc Savage you of course have one of the, if not the, main archetypal pulp heroes, a character that both Superman and Batman would take a great deal from, and "pulp hero" in itself is a term that exists to define these characters more so in relation to superheroes than what they were actually like in their own stories, time periods and mediums. The superhero as a concept is founded on Superman and Batman and their dychotomy. Costumed Avenger vs Ubermensch, mortal and immortal, light and dark, Dayman and Nightman (AHH-ahhh-AAHHHHH!), and that dynamic is specifically a result of Superman and Batman being direct descendants from Doc Savage and The Shadow respectively, who were Street & Smith's (and by extension the American pulps) Big Two, the top dogs of 1930s hero pulps, and direct opposites to each other.
Doc Savage was created in response to The Phantom Detective (who was the first successful Shadow imitator and thus defined it as the thing everyone was gonna have to do or respond to) and was in many ways a modernized revamp-almost-copy of Street & Smith's Nick Carter during his heyday, in origin and first case and super strength and omnicapable skills and general Great Man-ness and gadgetry and mission statement and so on. Doc was co-created by the editor of Nick Carter Magazine, John Nanovic, and the first response to the Phantom Detective that S&S planned was a reboot of Nick Carter as a generic hardboiled detective, published on March 1933, the same month as Doc's debut, and obviously Doc would go on to achieve much greater success and thus would popularize those traits again with himself as the figurehead archetype of them (not unlike what Superman and Batman would later do).
Tumblr media
Unlike The Shadow, Doc Savage does not operate under a secret identity or mask. He is not the hidden master of the city and has no division between his alter egos, and because he performs in broad daylight as a celebrity, is theorically held to social scrutiny, and is fully sanctioned and approved by law enforcement and works with the authorities with public transparency (minus the crime college but let's just, not, for now), it greatly upends and affects the approach he takes to fighting crime. He only has one identity, the greatest man of all time as the stories will remind you at every turn, by his author's own words he "manifests Christliness", and while not much separates Doc Savage's skills from Nick Carter's, he is explicitly and textually framed as superhuman (even a "superman", that term was deployed a few times), and he operates in a contemporary, urban setting that most Pulp Supermen cannot touch without veering into Sci-Fi Superman territory.
Within the hero pulp format that S&S started with Nick Carter and renewed with The Shadow, with the scientific explorer angle, you could argue Doc Savage, in almost exactly the same way as he does in his stories, worked out the solution to an unfixable problem: Turns out you can be as over-the-top super as you want, so long as you have a procession of equivalent super menaces to fight, don't upset society (and if you do it, not where the public where can see, keep it a secret that you can be blackmailed over by crooks you will inevitably silence okay look I'll stop now), have whatever incredible miracle cures and achievements and charity you do work on take place off screen where you never have to deal with them too seriously, and know how to pick your fights.
His service to others resolves the ruler/savior/destroyer conundrum. Savage aids individuals who face problems beyond their control, does great work in advancing medicine and science, and alleviates suffering through charity work, but he leaves the institutions of society in place.
He faces a never-ending succession of villains threatening society, an eternal frontier of gangsters and super-scientific menaces who play the role that Indians take in frontier narratives. The unresolvable nature of crime makes this frontier eternal, so Savage can place his superiority in service to the community and never risk turning into a ruler, savior, or destroyer because he can find challenges sufficient to absorb his energies.
The Savage solution—the hero position would be adopted by the creators of other prosocial supermen to come, including Superman, although only the adventures of Superman would be set in contemporary America.
Thus instead of marking an end to the bourgeois domination of society, as Nietzsche foresaw, the superman serves to protect that domination through myth-narratives. - Superhero: The Secret Origin of a Genre, by Peter Coogan
Tumblr media
Reed Richards, in turn, is defined (INCORRECTLY, I say, feeling a plasma crackle barely miss my skull) as the smartest man on the planet, a mental superhuman who operates on a level above and beyond that of everyone around him, and a freak accident during a space travel grants him physical superhumanity to match, with his body able to morph and bend under his will. He alleviates the ruler/savior/destroyer conundrum Coogan described in much of the exact same way described above, kept busy with an endless procession of strange dimensions and aliens and supervillain challenges, and Mark Waid's famous confession scene in Fantastic Four #489 addresses the fate that looms over the Sci-Fi Superman directly, with the "very arrogant man who did something very stupid" pointificating to his toddler child just how necessary it was to ensure that the world would not fear and destroy the people he'd irreversibly mutated as a result of hubris, what is even the point of his grandstanding title and colorful outfit and public adventures and all that.
Tumblr media
The life of superpowered adventurer celebrities was a necessity, and his superhero persona, Mr Fantastic, is a tabloid-catching act of penitence to mask his ultimate shame and to compensate the people he loves most. He lives for science, he craves discovery above all, but as far back as the Lee/Kirby stories, he still drags the team into awful intrusive press conferences none of them want to go but must, he sits through meetings with hardass generals to buy his team more leeway and trust, he takes the time to stretch across the city to visit sick children in hospitals and say hello to passing helicopters, he has to be the stick-in-the-mud dad who stretches himself thin to keep Johnny and Ben from ditching the team or seriously hurting each other (those first Johnny and Ben spats get way more violent than you'd expect), and he has to make difficult and even manipulative and harsh decisions even then to save the most lives he can. He carries a responsability to his family and loved ones first and foremost, and fashioning himself and them into superheroes is how he lives up to that responsability. It's what allows them to exist and thrive in-universe as much as out of it.
(We're not gonna play catch-up to the "why doesn't Reed Richards cure cancer" conversation but even that, in itself, is an extension of a thread that we can trace back to Doc and the Sci-Fi Supermen before him, when seams in the fantasy start showing with the introduction of consequence, a trend that particularly catches up to these scientist superhero characters who followed in Doc Savage's wake, and obviously caught up to Doc himself several times by now, for reasons @artbyblastweave describes as "a consequence of contemporary writers being Allowed To Notice And Unpack Things" and elaborates on very neatly here)
As a superhero, Reed Richards exists in conversation with Superman and Batman, same as every other character within the superhero "genre", which means he also exists in conversation with those traits borrowed from Doc Savage, and The Shadow, and all these other guys listed who were crucial in their development and a lot of others I'm leaving out of the conversation for now. A crucial part of that conversation and where the Fantastic Four figure into it is the fact that they were designed to not be traditional superheroes but to flip most if not all the conventions established on it's head, a part of that being their initial lack of uniforms (and when they did get uniforms they were just that, uniforms, rather than costumes), the lack of a secret identity, and the fact that the Four are scientists and explorers first, and crimefighting superheroes a distant second they're forced to frequently make a close second or first priority. Marvel made it's big defining pop culture splash with the Fantastic Four by turning superhero convention on it's head and doing as much as they could to do the opposite of what Brand Echh was doing.
Tumblr media
And that's kinda the main reason they end up inviting similarities with Doc Savage and other pulp heroes, because they're going out of their way to imitate and subvert traits and tropes that Superman and Batman were already imitating and subverting from those guys in the first place, that they in turn were imitating and subverting from guys that came before them, and etc.
Archetypes are breakthroughs, and no breakthrough happens in a vacuum. In the end, a lot of these strands and connections between these characters are less specifically the result of writers consciously following in the footsteps of Doc Savage and those that came before or alongside him, and more so with the fact that there's only so many left turns you can take before you just end up in a circle, or reinventing the wheel as it were.

Day 1: Paint Tales From Their Childhood
Asano Gakushuu:
It wouldn't surprise anyone to know that Gakushuu was an expert in the many forms of art; and painting certainly was on the list. What they might not know is that he's been doing it since his diaper days.
Good Guy Gakuhou fawned over every single masterpiece his little Da Vinci made, believing that each one meant something important about his child's development. Each one.
"He already understands the concept of complementary colors!" He squealed when he Gakushuu used red and green.
"He's figured out how to mix colors!" He exclaimed when Gakushuu accidentally added blue to the red blob he 'drew' on the canva.
"Oh, he's practicing Kanji already." He smiled at the random brush strokes his infant son would make. He legit believed every stroke was his boy trying to draw a kanji he'd seen before.
It's safe to say Gakuhou has an album dedicated solely to Gakushuu's artwork, which he still keeps to this day, partly to subtly brag about his kid, and partly to tease said kid.
Sakakibara Ren:
After doing a finger painting at school, little Ren went home with a new goal in life-- to become a painter. His parents got him all the canvas and materials he needed. Ren mostly painted nature scenes since humans and animals were too complicated for his five-year-old self, plus he's always loved nature.
A week later, he was back to his books. He didn't touch his art supplies again until mother's day when he decided to author a short story starring his mom; and since it was going to be about his mom finding a magical rose garden (her favorite flower), he decided to add illustrations!
So he did just that. He folded the papers and used the strappler pins to make a book. He ended up with two extra pages, so he used one to write a short poem and the other to paint him and his mom holding hands (he wanted them to be hugging but it was too hard for him to do). His mom has the book to this day.
Araki Teppei:
Once, little Teppei was reading an article on renaissance artists with his dad when he suddenly decided he, too, wanted to be a famous painter. He got out a normal A4 paper and started painting random stuff since he didn't have a clear vision in mind, so he ended up using a lot more paper than he intended.
Eventually, he settled on a family portrait. Sure, the stick figures had disproportionate body parts and the colors were a bit messy, but his dad loved it nonetheless. Not only did he proudly hang it on the refrigerator, but he had his own surprise for his little artist the very next day: A news article on the famous painter, Teppei, was hung next to the artwork.
Years later, Teppei still has the artwork and the news article.
Koyama Natsuhiko:
This boy grew up roleplaying as a heroic wizard in his own little world. One day, he decided he wanted to bring his magical world to life, and what better way of doing so than by drawing and painting background pictures and taping them to the walls? He was home alone that day, so little dude got to enjoy his fantasy as much as he pleased. The paintings, while simple, really made his adventure all the more immersive.
His folks weren't exactly happy with the mess that greeted them once they arrived home. Literally every wall was covered in at least a dozen paper! Still, they didn't scold him for it...because little Natsu was already asleep by then. Evil little gremlin
Suffice to say, cleaning was a pain, and it took them two weeks until they could no longer find anymore of these papers. (Seriously, just when they thought they've put them all in trash, they find one on the ground, under the sofa, or still tapped to the wall! How?!)
Seo Tomoya:
Unlike the rest, Seo seemed to use his art supplies for anything other than art.
Once, he decided to fake chicken pox to skip school after watching Tom and Jerry (in you case you don't recall, there's an episode where Jerry paints red dots on a sleeping Tom and convinces him he's sick) so he did just that and came 'crying' to his parents.
His parents didn't buy it, and a grumpy little Tomoya was sent packing to school.
When Halloween was right around the corner, Tomoya decided he wanted to be an alian and thought painting his skin green would be the perfect costume. Not only that, he also decided to "dye" his hair green as well.
Guess who spent his Halloween grounded? Yup, Marvin the Martian over here.
In a similar instance, Tomoya discovered something called something called food coloring and decided, "Cool! I can make a flame-colored cake with my paint!" Because if it's colorful, it's edible, right?
Fortunately for everyone, his mom arrived home just in time to stop him. He had such a field day helping her clean up the kitchen...

what do u think of terumoko?
i think theyre FUNNY. like i think touhou lesbians should be allowed to engage in tom and jerry violence against eachother with a bonus of homoerotic tention :)
and i mean obviously some touhou fans do them dirty (try make it a hero vs villain thing, demonize kaguya etc) when its clearly just like. a weird relationship of two immortal women using each other as stresstoys in the form of meaningless and extreme violence. every night. like theyre both SICKOS and WEIRD and using each other as an outlet and its fun.
but also if you wanted to read more into them you could talk about how both are complete outcasts to their people and able to really truly find some sort kinship with eachother. like mokou was a human and through her immortality (and the murder she commited to achieve it) shes become fully removed from mortals, living as a hermit because shes not fully able to relate to their transient lives anymore. and similarily kaguya is a lunarian, but she was raised among humans AND their impurity and transience, so while she was also never truly human there was always a rift between her true people and herself, even with eirin id believe. becoming immortal only widened that rift. so like in a way i think mokou and kaguya kind of can relate to each other through not only perfect immortality but also the feeling of perpetually being out of place. and since mokous a weirdo and kaguyas never direct, they cant communicate it well so they just beat each other up because Hey letting loose through violence is a form of intimacy too right? also i think the release mokou offers to kaguya is extra important to her since shes lived so long in hiding as a lunar convict and just getting to let loose and indulge in violence as a break from being the Hidden Away Princess must be fun for her…. its also i think why shes more openly endeared towards mokou
also my mutual julian sweetfloatapartment (hi if u read this 👋) pointed out to me a few months back how big brain T4T terumoko is.….like transmasc mokou transfem kaguya. bc of how it highlights the idea of them both feeling kind of like outsiders and then finding kinship with eachother…. so i like to view them through that lence too now >:)

I came up with a rather angsty story for the Takeover Scenario universe, but the problem is I’d have to create ANOTHER new set of characters for it even though I haven’t posted everything I have written for the OTHER new set of characters.
So.. have this synopsis instead!  If y’all vote on it, I’ll start working on this story universe again! (And for any of you who are big fans of Julie and Ellie I do have their backstory finished that'll go up first!)
I was thinking up some Tom & Jerry scenarios between a Survivor and a person trying to chase them out of the house.  At first it’s a completely and deadly serious chase.  The Survivor hates ‘giants’ for destroying their world and tries to harm them and steal from them as much as possible.  The human is obviously quite angered by that and also the fact that the fighting wouldn’t have happened if Survivors hadn’t tried to take their world first.  (if you want the lore behind all that fighting go read the very first story lol)
However, as the Survivor keeps finding sneakier more loony toons ways of getting back in and the person finds more ridiculous ways to chase them down, they form a sort of silly bond where they both don’t actually want to hurt the other anymore, they’re just competing eachother for how outrageous they can be with their traps.  What else are they gonna do, talk to eachother?  They don’t speak the same language and neither wants to learn how.
Suddenly.. WHACK  The planned swing-and-miss of the human’s broom actually hits the Survivor after they accidentally dodged into the broom’s path.  The tiny person gets thrown forcefully into the wall beside them, and crumples to the ground.  The human skidds to a halt and stares in horror at their funny little creature who’s now unconsciously slumped against the wall with blood dripping out of their nose.
On instinct they rush to start patching them up — carefully wiping the blood from their face and getting ice to put over the bruises blooming across their back.  Halfway through, they snap out of their urgency and realize that they actually genuinely care about this creature which, despite what scientists and reporters say, seems a lot more like a person than a slightly more intelligent animal.
By the time the Survivor wakes up, the human fully intends to let them stay.  However, to the injured Survivor, their little game suddenly hit square one again — where all that fighting was actually dangerous and completely serious.  They scramble upward despite the black spots dancing through their vision and desperately try to rush away somewhere hidden.  Meanwhile, the human is trying to chase them down — not to hurt them — but to show them that they actually just want to help.
Maybe the Survivor manages to escape them and passes out, still believing that the ‘giant’ actually wants to hurt them.  Or maybe the human manages to catch them by the arm and calm their struggling down enough to realize that there’s been a change in heart.  Or maybe the Survivor passes out before they manage to get away and wake up in a box; to the human, it’s a safeguard against them trying to run away and hurt themselves again even further, but to the Survivor, it’s a sign that they’ve actually been captured this time.
No matter what happens, angsty language barrier misunderstandings ensue >:)

Heya, I just read the post about Kenni and Rags flooding Victor's gloves/hands and arms with their magic. How often did that happen already and who of Rags and Kenni would initiate it first? (You're a great artist, I love your pictures and drawings and hope to see more of Rags, Kenni and Kama in the future. Have a nice day. 😄)
Thank you! 😊
Well, I imagine that Victor first met Kenni and Rags because of Vex. And by 'met' them, I mean staged an ambush to capture them in their human forms to try and get the upper hand on them.
Spoiler: it didn't work. They pretty quickly found out Victor's weakness and now they take advantage of it every chance they get :3c Rags is, obviously, a lot meaner about it than Kenni. He'll usually tickle the hell out of Victor and flood his arms with tickle-magic nonstop until he promises that he'll never try to take over the world again. Which of course is a complete lie, thus the Tom and Jerry cycle continues 👍

Clear it up: i had done ddlc idol club as webcomic in high school on webtoons but quit because of stress, full of being busy and perfectionism came out of me.
I also was new at drawing on a tablet but getting used to drawing and trying to fine a style which was me trying to make a cartoon x anime style. Which i am still trying to accomplish.
But found reference on that.
Off topic and back on topic, i did ddlc x kpop for my VERY first video of my YouTube channel and now i want to revisit and make it into a story. A story i could do with ddlc idol nor the old stuff. But i am still figuring out that part. I did yesterday figure out how many songs i want and what song to start with which connects with this already form story for them. There will be 4 solo for them and at least 3 or 4 group songs. I am not the these songs but already made songs like how six the kids were made in a way
This is what i came up with for the whole thing but at least the first song (hopefully the first song but i will ramble the whole thing): monika already form knowledge of the player or MC had started to leak and spread to the others. the girls started to remember and realize that the player/MC never really care about them. So they started to plan and figure out how to escape their nightmare loophole of a game. They ended successful escaping but the trauma and guilt they suffer through as computer girls follow them into the human world, so now they are trying to find ways to live their lives with healthy with these difficulties.
For the tom and jerry and the Happy tree friends animatic
Happy tree friends one is just a remake of the animatic. I believe i remembered on what i was gonna do with them but i am complete gonna to start over with the idea of the story. If there was a story. I was just playing with it and putting in references and having fun with this. Which i love about past me on that. Like having fun with my work and doing it for the attention and amazement.
Tom and Jerry is one the new and fresh one that i want to create from a short. Tell on a emotional take on it. I will also play with the rumors on them committing unaliving but not really showing that. I am trying to make it cry field. Or atleast sad. So i will maybe study on sad scenes, movie or songs and see what makes me sad or cry atleast. Which i learn that idea from lion king bts. Where the director had the animators try again on the saddest scene in the movie because it wasn't sad and it didn't make him cry. I'll on that take.

i forget i have ocs sometimes honestly then i look at toyhouse and i question why didn't i upload them then i just forget to do! (I just say i have a small brain, im very forgetful)
the fact that they are both musical people is so heckin lovley and cute!! I adore lil details like that so much it shows how much love and care is put into them!!
ooo!! Time period aesthetics are awesome!! 50s-80s is such a fun range!!! (I'm a fan of 50s pinup art and grease and 50s fashion. I'm also a fan of 70s fashion, i also adore 80s cartoons, strawberry shortcake carebears, mlp and the dnd cartoon. Do you have any fav shows from the time?)
omgosh i adore his centaur form is so cool looking (he looks so fluffy and huggable and that size difference is amazing also I adore the way you draw faces and expressions i also love how you draw monsters so much, the face there with the cute dangit is so lovely detailed and looks so cool!!)
Of course it is!! My werewolf oc, he use to be a preppy rich university guy who was raised p much to see everyone is beneath him and that he owns whatever he wants, he ends up having a crush on a local baker and he doesn't know how to approach her because of how he was raised (in his head he calls her my darling) he is also touch starved. On his 24th birthday, he started transforming (it was a family curse the skipped generations any family member who got it was seen as not pure) his family pushed him out because he was no longer perfect in their eyes. He ended up running in fear too scared for anyone to see him like that. The baker found him in an alleyway near the bakery he was halfway through the transformation and she quickly took him in and tried her best to care for him as he fully trans forms his speech has become very simple not use to how the transformation changed how his body works. He also loves baked good so he goes from twig to teddy bear (Sorry it's a lot).
the harpy is the leader of a huge flock of harpies that protect a forest near a small village, they hate humans, they will scare away and attack any that approach the forest or try cutting down the trees. The leader is very gruff and intimidating. He's the largest out of the harpies and has multiple scars from fights. One of his flock gets injured and is taken care of by a farmer (my love for stardew showing) and comes back and he is told of the kind farmer so he goes to investigate but also warn them to not go near or in the forest (a kindness for a kindness) but as soon as he sees the farmer he falls in love at first sight and tries his best to stay stoic but he cant help staring awkwardly at the farmer. He cant help but keep thinking of her once he leaves and he starts collecting shiny objects to give her.
(Sorry thats probably a lot!! Im sorry if its too much)
Damn, that sounds like an neverending cycle and that's exactly what I'm afraid of!! 😭😭
And yey, I love these two to death!! I mentioned in a server that Darnell wears a little apron whenever he cleans the house and does the waltz with Ros when she gets home!!! 😭😭
Yes, all of those are my JAM!!! From pinups to fashion, it's so pleasing to look at!!!
I loved to watch shows like Tom and Jerry, Wacky Races, and The Perils of Penelope Pitstop. I even enjoy some retro anime because of the aesthetics.
And also, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! 🥹😭
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH, I LOVE THEM YOUR HONOR!!! THAT'S SO CUTE!!!!!
Goodness, I love getting things like this, don't worry, Anon, I'm enjoying these ask so much!!!!!

PK for the random headcanon game!
Hi Tori <3
I actually headcanon him as a rather young Higher Being (maybe late twenties in human terms?).
It’s why he thinks he can build a “kingdom eternal” and is also utterly unprepared for the affection he feels for the Pure Vessel. Gives off “arrogant young man who thinks he has absolute control over his body” vibe to me.
Fun headcanon: only has a fuzzy concept of gender and names and was genuinely confused when Hornet wanted both. Learnt about it to make her happy.
RPIEAV AU: mentored/groomed by Grimm (when PK first ascended into bug form) into a direct rival to his sister so he’d had an endless cycle of fallen kingdoms to feast on. (Got out of hand and now Grimm feels guilty)
Fluff headcanon: While Hollow is his favorite, and Lost is his heir, he actually play fights a lot with Ghost. Because Ghost keeps trying to murder him but they’re both immortal. The two of them live in a cartoon kind of like Tom and Jerry, except poor Ghost is the cat who keeps failing to kill PK. PK lives in blissful ignorance and thinks they’re rather cute and normal for someone with Wyrm heritage.
