While it's nice that the cast got a happy ending, the rush-through of the final timeline in Tokyo Revengers overlooks so much trauma and manufactures happiness for the cast in a highly presumptuous way, and I don't care for how it diminishes the events of the entire series. It's presented to seem pleasant (maybe even perfect) but Takemichi relived almost his entire life while on a constant guard to "protect" numerous people who didn't know him yet, with only the support of one person who didn't know what he went through in all the other timelines. Imagine how all-consuming that self-imposed responsibility is! Takemichi's hero complex consumed him for two decades until he could reach a life he had always wanted with Hinata, but she is completely oblivious to it. She has no idea what Takemichi has been through to reach this point. She has no idea who Takemichi really is! How can something so orchestrated be what he always wanted? Isn't he exhausted? How is he supposed to live after reaching an age he has now reached twice, in two separate lives? What is he supposed to do with himself with all that he knows? How does he carry on?

Anyways, depending on the direction of the wind or the phase of the moon, I'll go from thinking of the final timeline as this horrific Twilight Zone situation in which Takemichi is driven to madness but then I'll laugh at the idea that he's upset he can't drink beer for like ten years after time leaping to grade one.

Ok so. FIRSTLY just wanna say I’m so so soooo happy that all the characters are ALIVE for once like their lungs are working, there r no guns in sight, no holes in Izana’s chest, kakucho is fine, AND MY BB BOY HARU IS ALL GOOD AND NOT A TRUAMATISED LIL PSYCHO 😍 meaning in total everyone is completely fine???

But now on a more serious note, jumping from Takemitchi’s death straight to around 10 years in the past is a bit wack seeming how Mikey just killed him then instantly regretting it and crying once his emotions came back and the dark impulses weren’t in control, which was a hella big mood swing. I understand that it all happened because of the curse but the way that Takemitchi was all happy and shit right after he went into the past after being killed just doesn’t sit right with me. Like, the way he was just completely fine after was just really weird. Like he was just impaled with a sword, brought back and now everything is peachy???

I feel like what I ‘disliked’ the most other than the fact that all the deaths and previous chapters in the manga have now ‘never happened’ in a sense is what they did to my man naoto 💀

When he's high or drunk were all just for his benefit, nothing for you. Every time you spent together he'd never once open up. Your clothes always smelled like drugs and cigarettes after.

Until one time, it was only one time where Mikey asked you to meet up for a drink. Who knew once you get to a private room of the club, Mikey jumped on you so quickly.

"You're late." Mikey spoke cold as ever, the smell of drugs through the tiny small space. "What the fuck, Mikey, what is this?" You questioned as he stared at you coldly. He walked over to you, his small body grabs your collar and kissed you.

You're shocked by the way he grabbed you. "Y/N—" Out of instinct you pushed him away. "Don't push me away~" Mikey taunt.

That night was probably how it all happened, sneaking small kisses during meetings and Mikey actually treating you like a partner, dinners and all of that fancy stuff.

You thought that this was special, Mikey and you, a couple. Or so you thought until you saw Mikey with a woman in a club fully making out. What a pathetic piece of shit he was, pathetic even to think the leader of Bonten actually cared for you.

Maybe that's why you left without a word, 'Missing' is what the news say. Maybe that's why Mikey decided to loathe himself. Maybe that's what happened to the Leader of Bonten and a civilian named, Takemichi Hanagaki, died together in eachother's arms.

Tokyo Revengers Spoilers for Chapter 273

- while I appreciate some heartwarming moments between Shin and Mikey meeting again, I just feel sorry Sanzu and Takemichi.

Sanzu because he HAD MEMORIES of all those previous timelines to the point that he questioned his own sanity. It doesn't help the fact that Shin admitted the murder to save Mikey and telling him to keep it a secret. But the way he talked about it so nonchalantly in front of him. Sanzu admired Shin. A lot. He's like a big brother to him. So the implication of the nonchalance of taking someone's life to just y'know... Save someone and all that jazz didn't sit right with me. Oh well. I'm gonna wait for the next chapter for more ig.

And well for Takemichi. I want to see it in a positive way but my two cents here is just that the time leaping is a curse. In my own perspective since Shin didn't need it anymore because he achieve his goal of saving Mikey, he did just give it to someone who embodies his ideals in what a hero should be. And that's Takemichi. But then again it's seemed a burden was pass to him unknowingly. Shin didn't have any ill gotten thoughts about passing it to him and he thinks that the power could actually help him even if it might cause severe consequences in the long run.

My Thots (tm)

Spoilers through all of tokyo revengers manga I think. Be warned for bad grammar and rambling.

I also think it would've made more sense for kisaki's issues to be centered on takemichi more than Hina, bc so much more of his focus seemed to be on him.

General impressions: I enjoyed it! I wasn't going to pick it up at all honestly until I heard of the time travel, because the gang part didn't really draw me in at first. But in the end the strength of the manga (for me at least) wasn't so much or the world building or plot but just the characters themselves. (I'm always a sucker for characters tho).

Things I wish could've been different: I would've liked maybe a little more filler/breather in between some arcs, but pacing wise I really only disliked the final arc. I just wish some of the final arc revelations (shinichiro's time travel and the supernatural origins of Mikey's dark impulses) actually had some foreshadowing. Especially the dark impulses being some sort of curse...that threw me a bit. I was under the impression that it was a sort of mental instability but it's actually supernatural ig. Same with kazutora (and the curse affecting kazutora was even more out of left field for me). My guess is that wakui did this to pave an easier path to the perfect happy ending of the final arc in lieu of actually dealing with mikeys mental problems.

Smaller thing but I would've loved to have seen more senju. And Hina. After a strong start with her saying she wanted to protect takemichi, I really really wanted to see her show up later and be more active in the plot. (Honestly senju or yuzuha should've taught her to fight so we could watch her beat some ass). I really liked the aspect of Hina and takemichi being braver bc they wanted to protect each other in the beginning and I wish that would've been carried through more.

Ships: Mikey and Hina were both basically love interests for takemichi so they might as well have all gotten married at the end. I stand by this. There are a few other ships, but I also really like the idea of kisaki and hanma together...I love me an antagonist x antagonist ship. Also hanma really did seem to genuine love being around kisaki. I think it would've been good for kisaki to pull his head out of his ass and realize Hina would never love him as he was but hanma was basically drooling over his evil cartoon mastermind brain. Just my opinion. I have others too but these stand out to me rn. (I also ship me x mitsuya lol)

Characters I liked: honestly I do like a lot of them. I came out loving mitsuya, but I always like soft protective older brothers so no surprise there. Also draken! And as mentioned before, senju!! She's so badass and I really wish we had gotten more of her :/ the haitani brothers are entertaining by virtue of them being little freaks.

i just finished s1 of tokyo revengers sooo here are my thoughts about it, please take into account that i havent read the manga yet ‘:)

in my opinion, the anime was REALLY good, i used to think it wouldn’t be good but damn i was wrong, the story was good (tho the time traveling thingy doesn’t make sense at some points), the characthers were good, everything was good :DD, i give it a 9/10

characther wise it was ok too, my personal favorites are mikey and mitsuya

also, this anime makes A LOT of emotional damage, specially when hina and akkun died for the 2nd time, or even worse, baji’s death :’). i usually dont tend to feel sadness in series/movies but damn...

other thing i liked was mikey and draken’s friendship, maybe because by the time i watched chapter 5 i was experiencing ✨friend issues✨ soo maybe that’s why hehehe (still they have the type of friendship i want to have, hope in the manga they stay friends)

though, the serie wasn’t very good near chapter 10, even if the battle with moebius was epic many things felt slow, also why takemichi couldn’t stfu when he was going to fight with kiyomasa????? that’s the only complain i have abt the anime

the fights were freaking epic, that was my absolute favorite thing abt the anime

im confused abt something, why kazutora wanted to kill mikey? ik they explained it but i dont understand why, ig i will rewatch the explanation

i loved the flashbacks back when the toman founders were kids, it was very nice to see them just being kids (idk how to explain this idea)

kisaki can fuck off along with the 5033930 ads that appeared in the middle of the chapters 😌

the soundtrack is a banger, my favorites are cry baby and i believe :)

ik this isn’t a thought but, where can i watch season 2? the ending got me shocked and i need to know what happened

ok so ending was so rushed, digi and ren's deaths were so fucking :((((( /neg like don't do them dirty like that. i feel like tsukuyo's power thing was so annoying and kinda useless since we didn't even get the time to see what it was entirely since she was already dyin but i kinda liked that reveal.

the reveal of seven being a bug was really good tho. memory was kind of a jumpscare but hey when isnt smth a jumpscare in wakui's works. i like the whole thing with peter and rabbit but again, i wish we got more backstory to that. and olga! love of my life i love her very much she is so<333333

but the hand over from og nana to seven was so fucking shitty its giving the ending of tokyo revengers like rushing any ending or like any scene in media in general is like one of the worst things you could do honestly. i'm kinda disappointed that wakui ended two mangas of his that had very much potential for a good ending rushed. like 😐

but the thing i wanted to talk abt most is the parallels of sekisei inko to tokyo revengers. from characters to the storyline it very alike fr. like ofc nana is michi, straf is like sanzu probably, hiwa is hina (crazy), memory is hanma coded, digi was giving akkun and ren was definitely shinichiro and tsukuyo was maybe like emma ig??
