OK so tanning and bottling and tanning it's canning not tanning damn it and we are putting in a bunch of them because to get them to the cannery they have to go across land and it's too far so we put them into the factory running short and it stays cool and the beer is better and we'll have to go around and it stays good and we have stuff to keep it good we had a little more of the preservative and we felt there too and there's also this thing going on today here where they are harassing us I don't think they're figuring anything out if we need them to shut up so we sent a ton of beer to calm them down and they started to **** everywhere no it's good beer and they're **** normally the normal amount and the beer start to flow in last week they plan on doing this anyways and they seem more mild tempered. Now we're starting to do this globally so far we are at about 10% of production five years ago when it started to crash but we're at 50% of the demand which is not bad because when we reach 20% he thinks we'll be at 100% and we will and we are going to continue increasing production. He wants us to put up a mass or the quick brew facilities and we know where we can do it now and just start pumping it out it was my week it's pretty good stuff and he says he wants to put joke names on it is it'll probably sell and we think it won't but really he's got an idea it's gonna say on the brewing label

The beer will have a special marking and it shall be:

And it will be in a statement and the lettering will be very similar and it look cool and we will have our own brand names and they'll be based on manufacturers of normal beer and they'll say that it's a knockoff or it could be ours depending on the public's reaction. And we have respected brew houses they're smaller. There were a lot of big ones so they think they're part of the big one.

This beer is gonna be cheap it'll be as inexpensive as water literally water it's like 65 cents a bottle and this stuff is gonna be like around 55 cents a bottle in its beer already some of you spend less no this is some inexpensive beer OKA 12 pack these days costs about $13 and hours will cost about $8 and people will drink it because it says lowbrow well in our case Lowerbrau And we mean it too there's a lot of ideas coming in from ours and we're gonna use them.

We do have their ideas of the two and we're gonna use them. One of them is to use the beer from Dave and Doug Mackenzie and they say the name doesn't really tell you any Elsinore is not memorable and it sounds like a fancy beer and it's not good so we're gonna name it and they actually try and find the place and they go to the headquarters of where they were and they try and start making their beer and they can't. We call it mackenzie brothers and that's the label and the brew house will be one of ours and it's a major and major company and we're going to try the generic beer in the generic beer outlets and we might fly in those Chinese buildings to try and save their Chinese beers and people think they might get sick and it might help fight the Chinese. They have these houses you expand them and then they lock together and you can lock a whole bunch of them together and make a building. And we're gonna put it on a slab but the thing about it is it goes up in like half a day and we might put a second story up and this is not really meant for that it's a really cool idea and we have to renovate the inside a bit but that's what we're gonna be up to and it's an intense idea this is going to be one of the funnest times of my life watching all this stuff come about we're gonna start up this stuff right now and it take like two days to erect the place using those things and about two days to renovate and the whole place will be doing the paving utilities and landscaping and then you would have it a nice square plain jane building and it would be like an old style pub it would be nice with walkways and lights and things like that a little bit of a modern flair of Japan which would give it some credibility see might not die until the third beer or the third night and we're gonna go ahead and do that it sounds like a lot of fun and remember at the beer outlet you can drive around back and it'll be like a fast food restaurant you can drop off your container and we have hoses and we just sit there and fill up containers and it's like a gas station we have to do the filling though because of sanitary rules and you wipe the top of it and everything and you don't touch the thing it says just walls will use disposable plastic inserts and we'll do that and we will fill up kegs and jugs and barrels and trucks anything to combine with we're gonna fill up we'll have some big vats there and she says you can't fill myself up so you can have franchises she doesn't want that she wants her own label and so we said we'll start there and then we can ship some ships over and drive them in and bottle and she said wow and so it's already happening and we're 50% of demand and we're providing half of that and she said that's incredible so she's trying to order big stuff and we're gonna send it. and she says very good but on here lol.

1. A home frozen in time An enchanting time capsule, the Marion Carll Farmhouse on Long Island has lain empty for years due to a lack of funding and a legal battle over ownership rights that has only just been resolved. Photographer Bryan Sansivero was granted exclusive access by the local school board and district to capture the beguiling Victorian property before its many antiques and curios were removed. Take a peek around the house that time forgot and transport yourself to a bygone era.

2. A faded beauty Located in the hamlet of Commack in Suffolk County, New York, the nine-acre farmstead dates way back to 1701, while the clapboard farmhouse was built on the eve of the Civil War in 1860. The property takes its name from long-time resident Marion Carll, who was born in 1885.

3. A pillar of the community Marion Carll was a renowned teacher who taught in the local district and went on to found the area’s first PTA and had a grammar school named after her in 1957. When she died in 1968, she bequeathed the house to the Commack School Board and District with the proviso that it should only be used for educational and historical purposes.

4. A fight for ownership Occasional classes were offered by the Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) but abandoned in the 1990s due to a lack of funding. Since then, the house and surrounding farm have been left vacant. In 2012, Ms Carll’s descendants launched a legal battle with the school board and district which they accused of failing to adhere to the conditions set out in their ancestor’s last will and testament.

5. Period details A New York State Supreme Court judge recently ruled that the school board and district has a right to retain ownership of the property, ending the protracted legal battle. You can see why they fought over this house. Though crumbling, it still boasts oodles of period charm. Ms Carll was clearly keen to preserve its 19th-century allure and did little if nothing during her lifetime to modernize the farmhouse, which is resplendent with fine antiques and interesting curios.

6. The parlor Talk about a time warp home! The parlor contains some wonderfully evocative pieces including this ornate piano by New York City company Calenberg & Vaupel. The firm first started making musical instruments in 1864, four years after the farmhouse was constructed

7. Antique medicines Empty bottles that once contained all sorts of curious concoctions abound in the farmhouse. Note the bottle of paint-stripping potion Pyranzine and the container labeled ‘Laudanum’, a super-potent and extremely addictive tincture of opium that was used to treat pain.

8. Untouched rooms Although covered in thick dust, the house looks as if she has just left the room. Here, her old sewing machine sits ready for use in what would be a bright spot by the window, if the blinds were open.

9. Locked-up riches Ms Carll secured her valuables in a safe manufactured by the famous Hall’s Safe Company. The firm, which was established during the mid 19th century in Cincinnati, makes some of the finest safes and locks in the world and is still going strong today.

10. Original features Beautiful marble fireplaces adorn the rooms in the farmhouse, and though the wallpaper is peeling off, the property’s original features, including the door frames and skirting boards, are in remarkably good condition.

11. Decorative flourishes Charming touches pervade the property. They range from delicately embroidered cushions and blankets to exquisite china pieces and this enamel chamber pot filled with fabric flowers.

12. A family home Photographs of the Carll family are captured here scattered on a table in the farmhouse. As you can see from the classy clothing they are sporting, the family members appear to be comfortably well-off and exceedingly genteel.

13. The ravages of time While some areas of the house look to be in a reasonable state, others are obviously dilapidated and in dire need of restoration work.

14. A snapshot of the past Education was Marion Carll’s vocation and passion, so it comes as no surprise that the much-loved teacher owned a writing bureau, in front of which she no doubt sat for hours composing letter after letter and marking her students’ work.

15. The dining room The dining room is just as well-appointed and elegant as the other rooms in the farmhouse. A solid wooden table takes pride of place in the center, while an imposing cabinet off to the side showcases the family’s fancy china and glassware.

16. Some mod cons The odd relatively modern touch can be found in the house including this attractive Art Deco fan, which contrasts with the Victorian and early 20th-century objects that are dotted around the property.

17. Retro remedies Another curious bottle in this shot: Humphrey’s “30”, a homeopathic remedy to help prevent incontinence and bed-wetting. Intriguingly, the classic concoction is still available these days and can even be snapped up from Amazon.

18. The farmhouse dresser This dresser in what appears to be the farmhouse kitchen contains the family’s day-to-day crockery. The chinoiserie Blue Willow pattern was hugely popular in America during the late 19th century and throughout much of the 20th century.

19. Prints from the past The walls of this room are decorated with several historical prints including a copy of John Trumbull’s iconic Declaration of Independence, which was painted in 1818 and features on the two-dollar bill.

20. Antique furnishings This photo shows what looks like the bathroom or washroom of the farmhouse. Note the white clapboard walls so typical of nearby New England, as well as the fancy gilded mirror and old-style water pump.

21. Old lace The master bedroom contains a box of sewing threads and a dressmaking dummy covered with an exquisite lace piece that was presumably hand-tailored by Ms Carll herself.

22. A picture of neglect This wider shot of the master bedroom shows exactly what years of vacancy and neglect can do to a property that was once meticulously maintained. Paint is peeling off the walls, while the floor and furniture are littered with debris.

23. A 1930s timepiece Another Art Deco piece, this wind-up Ingraham Meteor alarm clock was manufactured in 1936. It sits next to a dusty empty bottle of C. C. Parsons’ Household Ammonia, an essential cleaning product from way back when.

24. Faded fashions More dressmaking paraphernalia in this room. Against those starkly cracked walls, this space has a rather dramatic and eerie feel. The dummy is dressed in a corseted bodice and cage crinoline which was used to support the elaborate skirts and bustles of 19th-century dresses.

25. A simpler way of life This evocative shot shows a chest of drawers that was used as a wash table. Age-old toiletry products feature on the tabletop alongside a jug, bowl and antique towels for daily ablutions.

26. Dancing days gone by A pair of black ballet-style shoes, which may have been hand-embroidered by Marion Carll or another member of the family, lie on one of the linen-covered beds in the property, placed next to two fabric roses.

27. A glimpse into history Peering into the long hallway on the upper floor of the farmhouse, you can’t help but notice how rundown parts of the property have become. This wing of the house was used to accommodate slaves before the abolition of slavery in 1865, thereafter it served as the servants’ quarters.

28. A vintage tableau In contrast to the long hallway, this bedroom is in fairly good shape and doesn’t look like it would need much more than repapering to restore it to its former glory. Silk dresses, straw hats and ballet shoes pack the closet, along with a pretty parasol.

29. The attic The attic room looks like it was once used for storage or perhaps sleeping quarters for domestic staff. Damp stains the ceiling and a number of rusty old cage crinolines hang from wooden hooks on the wall.

30. A grand inheritance The beauty of this time capsule home, but for now at least the gates remain closed on the property while the Commack School Board consult the community on its fate. Options include turning it into a public park, a working organic farm and creating an education center, all in the spirit of Marion Carll’s wishes.

Plastics are among the most versatile materials in existence. Defined by their plasticity, they have long carbon chains called polymers at their backbone and can be moulded, extruded or cast into any desired shape from films to textile fibres.

They can be divided into thermosetting plastics, which never soften once moulded, and thermoplastics, which can be melted and reshaped, making them more suited to recycling.

Plastics "are a co-product of fossil fuels"

Although certain plastics – such as rubber, which is derived from the rubber plant – occur naturally, most modern plastics are synthetic and more than 99 per cent are derived from fossil fuels.

This helps to make plastics more affordable than most other materials and sees them used to create millions of tonnes of single-use items every year.

"Part of why plastics are so cheap is that they are a co-product of fossil fuels," explained designer Charlotte McCurdy, who has created a bioplastic made from algae.

"Petroleum or natural gas is pumped out of the ground and at the refinery, it is broken up into different lengths of molecule and catalytically cracked into useful monomers."

79 per cent of all plastic is dumped in landfills

This refining process yields not just fuels such as gasoline and kerosene but also chemical byproducts such as ethylene and propylene, which are the most important feedstocks used to create plastics.

Once discarded, 79 per cent of all plastic is dumped in landfills or in the environment, where it will remain for thousands of years. Although this contributes to pollution, it also helps to sequester the carbon contained in the materials and prevents it from entering the atmosphere.

But when incinerated, as 12 per cent of all plastic waste is, this carbon is emitted as carbon dioxide.

Taken together, plastic production and incineration were responsible for more than 850 million metric tons of greenhouse-gas emissions in 2019.

However, with growing efforts to decarbonise the economy, non-fossil alternatives are being developed in a bid to meet the ever-increasing demand for plastics in a more sustainable way.

Polyethylene terephthalate (PET)

PET is a strong yet lightweight thermoplastic, originally developed in the 1940s by combining fossil fuel-derived ethylene glycol and terephthalic acid.

The resulting polymer can be blow-moulded to form single-use bottles, stretched into a film for food packaging or spun into fibres to create polyester fabric, which accounts for more than half the world's synthetic fibres.

Designers often make use of PET for its translucent finish, with Marjan van Aubel turning it into solar panels that resemble stained glass windows while Beyond Space created a cavernous interior in an Amsterdam office using a kilometre's worth of semi-sheer polyester.

PET is also the most widely recycled plastic, at which point it is called rPET and can be used to create everything from backpacks (above) to Emeco's Navy chair.

High-density polyethylene (HDPE)

HDPE is a variation of polyethylene, the most common type of plastic in use today. While its low-density equivalent LDPE is used to make plastic bags, HDPE is sturdier and more rigid, lending itself to everything from milk jugs to packaging for cleaning products and toiletries.

The material is also used to create plastic bottle caps and even when brands such as Evian claim they've created bottles from "100 per cent recycled plastic", their lid is generally made from virgin HDPE to guarantee durability.

However, the material can ultimately be recycled after use, with architecture firm Bulot+Collins using the waste plastic to form 1,400 thermochromic tiles for a floating diving platform while Space Available and techno DJ Peggy Gou turned 20 kilograms of HDPE collected from Bali's beaches into a chair.

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC)

Derived from chlorine and ethylene, PVC makes up about 20 per cent of all plastic produced. Due to its strength and durability, the material is commonly used to create pipes, gutters and window frames, which designers have variously recycled into flower vases and cladding (above).

With the addition of a phthalate plasticiser, PVC can be turned into flexible vinyl and used to form flooring, shower curtains and imitation leather. Swiss studio Bureau A made use of the material's pliability to create an inflatable nightclub while Formafantasma played with its translucency in a "deconstructed" stage design for fashion label Sportmax.

Due to additives like phthalate, vinyl is among the least recyclable plastics and has been linked to a number of health concerns. But latex made from the sap of the rubber tree can offer a renewable, plant-based alternative.

Polypropylene (PP)

Polypropylene is derived from propylene gas, a byproduct of the gasoline refining process, and is commonly used to form more rigid, hardwearing items such as Tupperware, kid's toys and outdoor furniture.

Designers began experimenting with the material in the 1950s to create monobloc chairs, injection moulded and formed from a single piece of material. Among the most notable designs are Verner Panton's Panton chair, the Air-Chair by Jasper Morrison and more recently the recycled polypropylene Bell Chair by Konstantin Grcic for Magis, which is manufactured in less than a minute.

The thermoplastic can also be spun into fibres to create surgical masks, which South Korean designer Haneul Kim has recycled to create a series of stackable stools, or used as a 3D-printing filament as in the performance sports tiles on Yinka Ilori's Bank Street Park basketball court.

Polycarbonate

Polycarbonate is a thermoplastic with carbonate groups in its chemical structure, making the material exceptionally resistant to impacts and temperature changes.

Often used to create bulletproof windows, it can be engineered to be almost as clear as glass while being lighter and up to 250 times stronger.

Polycarbonate sheets are popular among architects and interiors designers for their ability to maximise natural light while maintaining privacy, as well as improving a building's thermal insulation.

Francesc Rifé Studio used the sheeting to divide an old textile factory into offices for the team behind Michelin-starred restaurant El Bulli while La Shed Architecture clad an entire barn (above) in the translucent material to give cows "a better quality of life".

Polyurethane (PU)

Polyurethanes are a diverse class of plastic polymers derived from isocyanic acid. Most commonly, PU takes the form of a flexible foam used for mattresses and upholstery while a more rigid variety is turned into trainer soles for brands from Adidas to Allbirds.

As a coating, lacquer or varnish, it can waterproof fabrics and protect wooden furniture as well as helping leather alternatives such as Piñatex withstand wear and tear.

Design studio Layer made use of PU's adhesive qualities to create a heat-sealing tape that bonds textiles without the need for stitches. And spun into fibres, it forms the main ingredient in spandex, which is used to make sportswear as well as more boundary-pushing items such as fabric-cast concrete moulds and wearables that can be stuck to the body like plasters (above).

Polyurethanes are not easily recycled and can contain potentially carcinogenic compounds that irritate the skin and respiratory system.

Fibreglass

Also known as glass-reinforced plastic or GRP, fibreglass is made by taking thin glass filaments, either loose or woven into cloth, and encasing them within a petrochemical resin.

The composite material is lighter and stronger than steel while being cheaper and more flexible than carbon fibre. As a result, fibreglass is used to create products where performance is key, including skis as well as the rotor blades of helicopters and wind turbines.

Architects have made use of the material to create tall, lightweight structures such as BIG's 2016 Serpentine Pavilion (above), which was formed from 1,900 translucent blocks, and a tubular installation designed by Neri Oxman and erected by a swarm of autonomous robots.

Polystyrene

In its original form, polystyrene is a hard, solid resin used to make disposable cutlery. But when solid beads of the plastic are exposed to hot steam, they puff up like popcorn to create expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam, mostly known by its brand name Styrofoam.

The rigid, closed-cell foam is 98 per cent air and has a low thermal conductivity, making EPS a widely used packaging for fragile items as well as for hot foods and drinks.

Once discarded, designers have been able to repurpose this packaging into sculptural chairs and beckoning cats, as well as melting it to create moulds. In architecture, it can be used for insulation or more experimental applications as in ADX's Soil House (above), which features walls of loose soil fixed in place with a foam spray.

Acrylic

Acrylic is a catchall term used to describe a range of different resins derived from acrylic acid. These can be suspended in water to create paint or spun into fibres that can be used to make clothing or as precursors for carbon fibre.

When cast into sheets, the thermoplastic is known as plexiglass and used as a low-cost, shatter-resistant alternative for glass due to its exceptional optical clarity. This application was pioneered during the second world war when it was used to form fighter jet windows and submarine periscopes.

More recently, English architecture firm HAL used giant plexiglass panels to form a 35-metre-high swimming pool bridge connecting two buildings in London (above) while designer Christophe Gernigon turned the material into suspended hoods for socially distanced dining.

Furniture made from acrylic can reflect light or disappear into its surroundings, as demonstrated by the see-through counter that Yota Kakuda created for Bake Kitasenju brasserie and Say Architects' ghostly interior for the Lika Lab boutique in Hangzhou.

Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS)

Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, much like polystyrene, is a hard thermoplastic derived from a clear, liquid petrochemical called styrene. In ABS, this is combined with butadiene rubber to create a stronger, more durable material that can withstand compression better than concrete and has been injection moulded to form billions of hardwearing Lego bricks since 1963.

Nylon

As the first fully man-made fibre, created in a US lab in the 1930s, nylon spawned an era of innovation in synthetic fabrics.

Although initially synonymous with stockings, the term nylon has since expanded to include a whole family of plastics composed of polyamides. These can be found in toothbrush bristles, films for food packaging and moulded components in cars and electronics.

However, the material's primary application remains in fibres, with SO-IL using nylon webbing to form a colourful hammock around 130 trees and Studio Drift crafting it into a kinetic sculpture for the Dutch National Touring Opera (above).

In recent years, a number of fashion brands including Prada have moved from virgin to regenerated nylon, also known under the brand name Econyl, in a bid to mitigate the material's environmental impact. Rayon can offer an alternative that is based on plant-based cellulose fibres rather than fossil fuels.

With growing concerns around pollution and efforts to create a circular economy not reliant on fossil fuels, architects and designers are increasingly looking to substitute virgin and petroleum-based plastics for more sustainable alternatives.

This includes recycled plastic, which presents a huge source of untapped potential as only nine per cent of the 8.3 billion tonnes of plastic waste produced across the world have so far been turned into new products.

The material can be sourced from recycling plants or companies such as The Ocean Cleanup and Parley for the Oceans, which are fishing marine plastic from our oceans and waterways before teaming up with brands to turn it into sunglasses, trainers and more.

Bioplastics that use natural materials rather than crude oil as feedstocks present another possible alternative. Polylactic acid (PLA), the most common type of bioplastic, is generally made from corn starch or sugar cane while others are derived from algae or chitin.

Many are designed to be compostable or biodegradable under specific conditions to reduce the amount of plastic waste in the environment, although some experts have raised concerns that this could ultimately lead to soil and water acidification.

College student and consumer culture

The aim of this fieldwork assignment is to emphasis how student are key examples of consumer culture. In this day and age a lot of us have things which we don't need but society has made us believe that having such items will provide us with security among other things. Below are the things I own in various categories.

Electronics: Laptop, Cell phone

Supplies: Pencil, notebooks, paper, binders, folders, pens and highlighters, calculator, stapler, index cards, calendar, post it notes, white-out, tape, erasers, backpacks, pencil pouch.

Clothing: Jeans (skinny, ripped, boyfriend, mom-jeans), blouse, t shirts, tank tops, bodysuits, jackets(leather, denim, windbreaker,) hoodies/pullovers, coat/dusters, sweaters, skirts, trousers, dresses, leggings, shorts, sleep wear. (all of these come in different colors and styles depending on weather or occasion)

Shoes: slides, sneakers (high and low tops), sandals,  slip on, boots(combat, knee high, Chelsea boots), heels (pumps, wedges, platform), 

Accessories: headphones, photo frame, command hooks, portable speaker, phone case, screen protector, earrings, necklaces, watch, makeup mirror, umbrella, lamp, wall lights, nail polish and nail polish remover

Transportation: my legs and uber.

Looking through my  list I’ll say I am a part of consumer culture. I think some of the things on the list would depend on gender because at time females encounter things that men are unaware of. Meanwhile with the rest of the things there is really no difference because both men and women can use the same thing. Some men are into fashion and the aesthetic of things therefore their list could look similar to mine. When it comes to age group and ethnicity there is a thin line in defining who can or cannot use certain items. 

Most of my things were made outside of the United States. Majority were made in China ( clothes, electronic, and certain part of my toiletries. Some are from Bangladesh, and Vietnam(Nikes) just to name a few. Things like my supplies like notebooks or pens and pencils were manufactured in the USA. Just by analyzing my closet it is evident that globalization is a huge part of consumer culture. I think it is safe to say consumer culture has grown due to the fact that various people all around the world are making our clothes and gaining an income. Though all of these things are great to have, I have also learned that those in other countries have to endure a lot of hardships because they are making our stuff. For instance our IPhones are manufactured by Chinese citizens who work long hours with little pay. 

In the list above, I have crossed out certain things in order to distinguish between my wants and needs. The things which aren’t crossed out I would say I need those things in order to function properly. This is because thing like my cell and my laptops help me stay in contact with friends and families. plus having my laptop makes it easier to do essays and check blackboard for assignments. When it comes to my clothes I need almost everything because they help to keep me warm and protected based on American culture. You cannot walk around naked, plus most of them are vital in order to survive the four seasons. Same thing goes for my shoes. With toiletries and makeup most are wants not needs, because I don't need to wear makeup, it is based off the values of society and what is deemed as beautiful. Overall it is really nice to have all of those things but I will be fine without a few.

We have traveled for three years now with a Google Chromecast and Roku Express and it seriously makes Airbnb’s and hotel rooms so.much.better. We just plug in the streaming device to any TV when we travel and Voila – Netflix!

One of the top travel accessories for adventure on this list is a hammock. There are so many places around the world that are easy places to lounge around and do absolutely nothing. If you are wondering what to pack for an outdoor adventure consider a travel hammock that you can string up between trees. It’s perfect for those times when you want to relax in nature.

The ENO hammock was the original producer and the first travel hammocks we bought. Now, you can find a multitude of cheap ones online as they’re easy to manufacture in China and people love to buy and sell them on Amazon. Personally, I’d still stick with the original.

The Scrubba

Washing your clothes while traveling is never fun. That’s why we were super pumped to get the Scrubba. Which is a tiny and lightweight mobile laundry machine. This is one of those funky travel accessories you don’t really think about until you need to do your laundry, but it is so fricken awesome to have on you when you travel.

Just put your dirty clothes in the bag, add water and soap, seal and scrub away. Now you can literally wash your clothes anywhere there is water.

Although, the Scrubba retails for just around $50, think about how much money washing your clothes can cost in a hostel, hotel, or laundromat. We usually pay about $5 per load. So you will easily make your money back after just 10 loads of wash. Most importantly this eco-friendly product uses less water than a commercial washing machine and no energy. I also found that this is another fantastic eco-friendly gift idea for travelers and hikers.

I hate doing laundry when I travel! It’s always a pain to find a washer when you’re on the road and it’s expensive to pay for hotel laundry. But when I do find a laundry machine to use I always seize the opportunity to do a load of laundry.

Of course, you don’t want to go buy a whole bottle of laundry soap when you’re traveling and that’s where travel laundry soap packs come in handy.

We have a few of these because we absolutely love coffee and tea. And they are an incredibly useful travel accessory to have if you love takeaway coffee and being sustainable as much as we do. 

This escalates when we travel and we usually have at least a cup of coffee a day. I hate those plastic lids given out and this is the best alternative to a wasteful plastic lid. Plus I love drinking off the silicone top.

Make sure to protect your eyes from the sun since you’ll likely spend a lot of time outside. There are a lot of options for sunglasses and everyone should own at least a pair. It’s best to make sure they do have UV protection for the health of your eyes.

We made our first investment in quality polarized sunglasses with a pair of SMITH Optics Lowdown 2. Truthfully, not everyone needs to invest $150 in a pair of sunglasses; however, we love ours and will never buy cheap ones again.

This is one of the best travel accessories to have for long haul flights. Think about it, you’re bored on the plane and you don’t want to watch movies, so you start writing!

Keeping a journal of your travels is timeless. It helps one digest the information they receive each day, and has proven mental health benefits. Moleskin’s line of journals is classic, well made, and stylish.

We both carry a moleskin journal and love them for long plane rides, sitting in the back of the bus, or laying on the beach. If there is one travel accessory to carry out of the whole bunch it’s a good journal.

I love to travel everywhere with my yoga mat. If you happen to be a bit of a yogi to know that often when traveling yoga studios can be found. We’ve found places to practice in like Costa Rica, Bali, and Hawaii. I love traveling with my Manduka travel mat when I just want to do a couple of quick stretches.

The Manduka travel mat is super light and thin. It can fold up into a square and easily be packed away in luggage. I bring this in my carry on so when I’m enduring a long layover I can stretch at the airport. At $42 it won’t break the bank and has super grip technology for those sweaty times.

Vetelli Leather Men’s Toiletry Bag

One of the best travel accesories for men is this Vetelli toiletry bag. For the money this bag is great quality and meets all your needs. It’s also very stylish and has the appearance of an expensive leather bag without the price.

The company uses PU leather which keeps the price down but doesn’t expect it to last as long as the more expensive leather counterparts. The Vetelli has a tremendous design with two separate compartments, waterproof material, mesh inner pockets, and it includes two travel bottles.

We travel with our MacBook Pros to keep up with this website and YouTube when we are traveling; however, a MacBook is probably not necessary for most travelers!

We just got our hands on the Google Pixelbook which is an ideal computer for most travelers who don’t have to work all the time on the road. It’s super slim, lightweight, and does everything your computer at home can do. We love the way it flips around too so that we can stand it up and watch movies on the plane with it.

Some other fantastic features of the PixelBook is that it houses all apps, like a phone – except it’s a computer! An all-day battery delivers up to ten hours of power from just one single charge. If you don’t have the time to charge it I love that you still get 2 hours of battery life from only 15 minutes of charging. It also has automatic security, software, and features from Chrome OS.

Space Savers

One of the best cheap travel accessories you can get your hands on to help you pack is a space saver! Ziploc space savers are so helpful for saving space in your suitcase. We really only utilize these for winter travel as they are handy for making your bulky sweaters and jackets compact, but it’s also good if you want to travel with a plethora of shirts, shorts, or anything!

Although they recommend a vacuum we personally don’t bring the vacuum with us traveling and instead suck the air out with our mouths. 😝

We travel with a few different tripods, but the Joby Gorillapod is really perfect for any traveler who likes to take a lot of photos. It’s small and easy fits on the side of a backpack or in your carry on luggage.

While it’s not the tallest tripod the Joby Gorillapod is amazing at wrapping around objects for height and stability.

GoPro Hero 7

This is the perfect camera to bring around the world and you’ll see them everywhere. If you’re embarking on any adventures from surfing to hiking to snowboarding a GoPro is the travel item you need.

Don’t risk bringing a fancy camera to the beach and getting sand in it. Or even worse, water. We just picked up the GoPro Hero 7 and love it so far. The Hypersmooth motion capture is a total game changer. Just make sure to attach it to a wrist strap so it doesn’t get lost!

Headphone Jack Splitter

This may be one of those other funky travel accessories you have never heard of, but if you are a pair then trust me a headphone splitter is worth it.

We’ve been traveling with a headphone jack splitter for years since we are a couple. This handy little tool essentially allows us to plug both of our headphones in so we can watch the same movie on our laptop or phone together.

It’s really nice on travel days when we want to watch something together on the plane, train, or bus.

Travel sheets are really great travel comfort accessories to have if you’re sleeping in hostels or shared accommodation where you don’t trust if the sheets are super clean or not.

Synthetic Fragrances - the New Smoking

If you are like me, you probably have a favourite perfume you have always loved, that reminds you of the past and seems to have an alluring scent and heady mix of scent that almost puts you in a daze.

Well, without being a party pooper, it might be adding to the toxins in your own body and adversely effecting those around you.

It might be time for us to put these romantic attachments to our “favourite” perfume aside and think differently about what makes a fragrance appealing. And think of others too.

There is enough information out there now to realize that the synthetic ingredients/scents manufacturers use, in perfumes and fragrant products like candles and room fresheners are not good for our health. (or the health of people around you)

Already, cities like Detroit have created Fragrance Free Zones, where perfume and aftershave are discouraged.

I personally often find myself avoiding someone who has strong synthetic perfume on, or sadly cutting the conversation short.

We stay at a lovely holiday apartments that is within a complex on the Gold Coast, and the reception have a device that every now and then pumps out an artificial fragrance in a small spray of perfume. I literally hold my breath and run through the reception. I’m sure they think l am mad or at the very least rude. But the truth is many people are oblivious to the dangers lurking around them in the atmosphere.

I also avoid large supermarkets, and one of my reasons (there are many) is that l don’t breathing in the synthetic fragrances that linger permanently in the aisles that contain the cleaning and toiletry/personal care products.

I’d love to see more of these talented perfume creators get back to how perfumes were made a thousand years ago.

Today’s synthetic fragrances are a far cry from the healing balms treasured so much by the ancient world that some were worth more than gold

Egyptians were responsible for the origin of perfume. Archaeologists recently uncovered a perfume factory from 2,000 BC, located in Cyprus, which seemed to have specialized in the production of scents like coriander, laurel, myrtle, lavender, and rosemary. Perfume slowly spread throughout the globe, and for a while, scents were reserved mainly for use in religious ceremonies. However, in 1190, perfume began to be produced commercially in Paris, and from there, it blossomed into a massive industry once more.

Historically, and with many of the modern all-natural perfumes (like Kis), scents are derived from the essential oils of plants.

The only real advantage (if it is an advantage) is that Synthetic creations offer scents which do not exist in the natural world. Like leather, musk, watermelon or fresh mown grass!!!

Many perfumers seem to consider these artificial fragrances as necessary for the complexity of the perfume.

That’s great but if you have compromised health and don’t want to adversely effect the health of those around you, l would stay away from synthetic fragrances.

Note that these synthetic fragrances appear frequently in products like drinks, food,

Cakes, soaps, lollies, prescription medicine, candles, shampoos etc etc.

When reading your product labels, look for the word “fragrance” in the ingredient list.

And also just use your nose, if it smells super strong it’s probably not natural.

After reading the ingredients of a product you like, it’s best to test any product out in the store first. See if the smell is making your nose irritated or your eyes water.

More rarely, there are people are also sensitive to essential oils which are natural, so if you suspect you are sensitive to essential oils test all products before buying.
