Is it good to have humor on a Christian channel? See Todd Friel/Wretched as an example.
I see no biblical reason for it to be an issue. Elijah used humorous satire against the false prophets of his day as did Paul and even Jesus. God Himself sits in heaven and laughs at the wicked (Ps 37:13). Cheerfulness is good medicine and laughter is a gift of God just like everything else (Ecc 3:4) As long as we aren’t following the world’s corrupted sense of humor, mocking things God created to be holy or finding delight in things that are crass or sinful (Eph 5:4), then it is a powerful tool and a gift to be enjoyed.

Patrick Rieger emailed some photos: "Hi Marc, I feel like I have been slacking this summer sending you pictures after having sent so many.
Celtic Pittsburgh hasn't been doing much the past few months though we do have plans in the works for an event in October. Meanwhile, the renaissance festival season for my family and I started when we attended the Great Lakes Medieval faire the weekend of July 27 and 28. It was a great weekend, and we needed time away from the daily routine. With life so busy for everyone we hardly see friends anymore, and this was a chance to see many of them. We were happy to find that our friend Captain John Stout, aka Richard Brentar, has returned to Great Lakes after having been absent for a few years. I'm not sure what I enjoy more, his music or his stories, he always has lots of great stories to tell.
We also saw the Jackdaws, Celtic Mayhem, and Michael Manderen. Sadly we didn't make the shows of Menagerie Music this year but we did manage to catch up with Lisa from that duo.
My family and I plus a couple of friends went to see John McCann and Hamish at Mullaney's Harp & Fiddle in Pittsburgh on August 3. These two are a lot of fun and have great energy, and get the place jumping. I have seen them for 15 years, starting when they were part of the Corned Beef & Curry Band. Sadly that band broke up when one of the three decided to explore other musical paths.
I'll be sending more pictures of Celtic musicians come September after trips to two more ren faires. Until then, slainte!"
Cheryl Arvio emailed some photos: "Hi Marc, Sorry these photos aren't better, but this is Socks in the Frying Pan from Friday night's show at the Irish American Heritage Center in Chicago. Brilliant, as they always are! Bummed that they are not playing Milwaukee Irish Fest this year, but happy we got to see them (and pick up their new CD) in our hometown. Best,"

Maybe the most ridiculous quote from any religious debate I've ever heard... via /r/atheism
Maybe the most ridiculous quote from any religious debate I've ever heard...
...And I've watched like twenty debates with Kent Hovind, so that's really saying something. This is from a debate between Todd Friel and Dan Barker; apparently Friel is affiliated with Ray Comfort's The Way of the Master, and boy does this whole debate just vividly show how nonsensical that is. But here's the money quote from Friel:
I don't think I did my job right tonight. [Atheists in the audience applaud.] I don't, because I keep hearing Dan say that hell is a threat and it's not reasonable, and I keep hearing you applaud. Then let me try to make myself crystal clear; I'm not here tonight to scare you into believing in Jesus Christ. Make no mistake about it, you should be horrified of hell. As sure as you're sitting here, it exists. There will be a day of judgment when the just judge of all the world will judge all people according to what they have done. You know there's a creation, your conscience affirms it. You will get what you deserve. But I'm not encouraging you to flee to the savior because you're afraid of hell; flee to him because he's so kind to save you from hell!
It just astounds me that a person can say that sequence of words out loud and not recognize what complete and utter double-talk they're spouting. "Hell is not a threat, but you should be afraid of hell." "You shouldn't become a Christian because you're afraid of hell, you should become a Christian because Jesus will save from hell!" Insanity.
