Today's Susan/Boromir mood is a genshin impact au (yes I know) where Boromir and Faramir are from Sumeru and very proud of their father for making Sage at the Akademiya until two days into his new position he flips out, quits his job, and announces he's moving to Mondstant. OBVIOUSLY they're very concerned about this so they take leave and follow him. While they're trying to pry what's wrong out of their dad's newly paranoid fingertips Faramir manages to fall head over heels for one of the Knights of Favonius cavalry officers and Boromir meets a VERY pretty Vineyard owner whose brother is the assistant master of the knights.
The plot progression goes something like oh pretty girl -> oh no she has a boyfriend -> her boyfriend is a warrior from Sumeru -> so I'm her type? -> oh huh he's an eremite -> wait I've met this guy he's a fucking asshole -> you belong with me.mp3 playing while fighting Rabadash in the street.

#idek how they meet. maybe she has one of those cushy jobs they give upper class girls during war time to free up the men for fighting? #I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH INFORMATION ON GONDOR'S CULTURE TO ORGANIZE A MEET CUTE - @professorsparklepants
Today's Susan/Borormir mood is: the Pevensie's home world being Gondor, not England, so post VODT when everyone is jostling around trying to find a trade and plan their future, the running joke is that the only suitable thing for Susan is to try and nab one of the sons of Denethor so she can rule Gondor. It's all very funny until Susan actually develops a crush on Boromir. Then, as things tend to go for their family, everything goes to hell in a hand basket fairly quickly.

What's today's Susan/Boromir mood
Regency au where Boromir is the handsome son of an Irish lord who is in town for parliament and Susan, recently orphaned, has moved in with her aunt and uncle in London.* They meet in the park and Boromir is immediately enchanted by her but she's GRIEVING he can't start calling on her without any indication she likes him! That would be unbearably rude! Meanwhile Susan is like "why on earth would he try his suit when there's such a difference between our stations... Sure he crossed the street to talk to me one time but that doesn't mean anything." Because she's grieving.

Peter, writing from the war front: WHY ARE YOU DATING MY COMMANDER
Faramir, taking the piss: wow boromir did u hear there's a GHOST at the guard's archery range..... the bows and arrows are locked up but in the morning the targets are riddled with arrows.... definitely a ghost
Boromir: it's not a ghost and I'll prove it
[two days later]
Faramir: hey how'd that stakeout go
Boromir: it's definitely not a ghost. unrelated but I have a girlfriend now.

Today's Susan/Boromir mood is: the Friends of Narnia being a lore heavy SCA chapter that likes to rent out campsites so they can have baccanalias in the woods. The Fellowship of the Ring are a hardcore LARP group who took the wrong trail after defeating Sauron the Wicked and ended up in a campsite full of wined up ren faire fans instead of the parking lot.

Gondor: you mainly want Appendices A and B of LOTR; Unfinished Tales, especially Part Three; Letter 131 in Letters of JRRT (but check the index for others); and possibly HoME Vol. 8, The War of the Ring. Also the King's Surgeon series by surgicalsteel (surgsteelfics on LJ). WWII British home front documentaries: Wartime Farm, Blitz Street, Time Team 15.6 "Blitzkrieg on Shooters Hill," Time Team Special 23 "Buried by the Blitz," The Supersizers Go... "Wartime." I hear Foyle's War is good, too.
This is so comprehensive, thank you!

god i'm so in love with "narnia canon is the same but instead of england they're from minas tirith." the nonsense. the insanity. the chaos. unleashing four experienced monarchs onto gondor when they least expect it.

The Susan/Boromir mood this week is: super hero au. The Fellowship are like, the avengers, and the Pevensies are the fantastic four. Instead of being astronauts they fell through a hole into another dimension/planet and lived there for ten years developing superpowers and having traumatic adventures until their cousin Eustace and his friend Jill built a machine to bring them back.
Susan's power set is the unholy lovechild of Oliver Queen and Dinah Lance's bad decisions, in that she does arrow trickshots and also screms real loud. Boromir is like, an unstoppable force and an immovable object. Bulletproof and super strong, the usual combo. He's also devestatingly handsome, so there are MANY rumors about his love life and lack thereof. Maybe there's fake dating involved.

Today's Susan/Boromir mood is Susan saying things to the people of Middle Earth that have them convinced she's a fucking witch. Examples include:
"Well, you're not the first person I've seen rise from the dead, but last time there was more fanfare."
Several incidents in which she starts trying to talk to trees, remembers halfway through her sentence they don't talk back, and looks around to double check nobody saw.
"The last man who sought to own my body was turned into an ass. Think about that."
[Breezily, as if discussing the weather] "Oh, I never miss."
"Rings! Why are all my problems always caused by magic rings!"
"I haven't ridden in years. I think the last time was... well the last time was on a lion, but I don't think that properly counts."
Bonus: any time she talks about England and casually mentions something modern that is absolutely bonkers conceptually to someone with the technology level of early medieval Europe.

Chat tricked me into making a Susan/Boromir shipping manifesto, so here it is verbatem, as pulled out of my ass.
[...]Boromir and Susan both have a very strong sense of love and responsibility. Susan is the older sister who takes care of their family, and Boromir is always looking out for the people of Gondor and for the hobbits. They're both very kind and understanding, and even emotional; Susan is the only one of the Pevensies who seems devestated when they return to Narnia to find all their friends dead, and Boromir understands how important it is for the fellowship to grieve, to the point that Aragorn has to remind him they need to get to safety first. Susan is more peaceful, with her title of Gentle being both in temperament and a synonym for merciful, but she still has martial training in archery that adds an edge to her that makes her a compliment to Boromir's life as a career soldier instead of a contrast.
