ages

seriously, how old are these guys? I do this all the time with characters, think in circles about ages of people based on other characters and it drives me nuts

ages we do know:

billy -> 18

max's daughter -> 7 (not that that's actually helpful...)

stan -> 21 (and he's married. WITH KIDS. how?????)

ages we can assume because MATH:

emma is 19, based on the fact that she said her mum died when she was 9, and mr garland said he was widowed 10 years (oh my god she's a baby)

peggy is 37 (emma's age 19 + billy's age 18, because she was emma's age when she had billy

fun guessing game ages:

tom's friends with billy and adil, age probably between them? but low rank compared to adil, so probs 19ish?

hamilton boys is harder, and ive seen ages from 22-26, and it's not like there's really anything to dispute that BUT bearing in mind that they grew up with emma, what 13/14/15/etc year old boy wants to hang out with a nine year old girl? lady h's comment about supposed to be men now? (legal age was 21 i think? so they're near there probably??) and freddie's married-with-kids squadmate was 21? also oxford researcher doesnt necessarily mean phd student, and raf training lasts a couple of months. am I overthinking this? absolutely! but my brain at 2am loves this shit. anyway based on they're probably 20/21 but honestly WHO KNOWS???

adil is probably the same age as toby. legal drinking age in 1940 was still 18, presumably no one cares what age for serving, google is very american about that. assuming adil started working at 14 (most kids did so would have been weirder to stay at school until 18 tbh?) theoretically he could make it to head barman in 6ish years? so like 20/21 too??

kate is 16/17 just because

at the youngest mr garland would be roughly 40, but thats assuming he joined ww1 at 18, so he's probably a bit older (though probs not more than 45ish?)

lady hamilton probably in her late 40s too (no way over 50, menopause kills your sex drive and she was getting it with mr d'abberville 👀 i hate that I wrote that what the hell) (lord h older for sure but who cares about him?)
