What inspired your oc?
what inspired Ben?
that’s a hell of a rabbit hole, but lemme give it a crack. hope you're ready to read a whole book lol :
so, for starters, i’ve always been a spider-man kid for as long as I can remember. I’m not sure what my first introduction to spidey would’ve been, but i’d bet it was either the 90s animated series or tobey maguire’s spider-man movies. The first maguire movie came out when i was 2, but i’m positive i saw it super young because i don’t remember a time where i didn’t absolutely fucking adore spidey. Some of my strongest memories are actually of ‘wall crawling’ up my grandma’s brick sidewalk and running around her yard like i was swinging from a web. I had the toys, the pajama suit, the string-can webshooters, plastic masks, played all the games growing up, etc etc. Spider-man stuff is just like, idk INGRAINED in me. He’s what i wanted to be- and, honestly, i still dream of swinging from a web.
Now, that said: Ben.
Ben started as a x reader concept. I’d never written fics before stumbling onto homelander, but i ended up finally snapping one day and giving it a shot for two reasons. a) blindmagdalena inspired me to write and b) i wanted to finally see some form of trans rep for fanfics, particularly for transmasculine people. I have my brain trained so strictly to swap pronouns, gendered terms, and even body part names that it actually affects my reading outside of fics, too. Which isn’t necessarily good, but it just goes to show how little is out there for us (fic is usually always skewed toward fem readers- which isn’t a bad thing! It just makes it hard for transmasc folks to indulge sometimes). But yeah, i really fucking wanted to finally put something out there for us.
But, this fella had to have powers right? Tender Threads was the start of my writing adventures and i was adamant that it would follow a supe!reader. And what powers would i want if i were a supe? Spider powers, of course! Initially i was really insecure about doing this because webweaver already exists in the boys comics and i felt like a copycat. I couldn’t even figure out a better spidery hero name than spider-man, so i said fuck it and went with it. Of course, months later across the spider-verse came out and validated me putting a spider-man in another universe, but that’s besides the point lol.
The more i wrote this x transmasc!reader concept, the more and more i could see Ben in my head. He started off as a concept and just… grew? I picked his name because i really like ben reilly as spidey and i figure theres gotta be another spider-man out there named benjamin, right? They can’t all be variants of peter and the more major characters. Funny enough, he was almost a Bennett. Anyway, i imagined him quite similar to peter parker in the ultimate spider-man comic line, but he’s steadily grown to have his own appearance, especially once i went out looking for a face claim for him and found froy gutierrez. Now, he looks like a ~2018 era froy! Funny how ocs grow and change.
I decided that i wanted him to have powers more along the lines of Miles Morales in the insomniac games (bc i fucking ADORE miles and i think his bioelectricity is SO FUCKING COOL). So, i picked that. Kept the organic webbing bc that made sense to me.
Also, it wasn’t even a thought in my head of whether or not to carry over the aspect of being trans for ben.
His suit design was heavily inspired by the unbreakable spider-man suit by @ vaughanilla_cosplays on instagram, but i’m still working on building a design that is truly ben’s.
From there, i thought of him in terms of what my ideal spider-man would be like. This part i actually struggled with until i stumbled across this video of Peter Cullen about the day he auditioned for optimus prime (hopefully the time start works, otherwise it's at 1:38-2:10). Those words hit me first, like, as a person, and i find them influencing me in my day to day life, surprisingly. But then i realized, that’s what i want for ben. If ben was going to be a hero, he was going to be a real hero. Benjamin would be strong enough to be gentle. Even being a character destined to love a man who is anything but, Ben would be strong enough to be gentle.
Above everything else, Benjamin is gentle.
And from there, he grew. He grew and grew and grew, and now he’s actually very precious to me. Ben is my spider-man, more than any iteration ever. When i think of spidey, i think of Ben.
But yeah. I guess ben was ultimately inspired by my love for spider-man meeting my love for the boys. Just, one day an egg appeared, you know?
Anyway, thank you so much for this ask. I fucking LOVE talking about my lil benny-boo

The Girl One Floor Below
Apartment 3C
Summary: Peter Parker helps a girl move in
WC: 1.3K
warnings: A singular swear word, talk of Gwen's death and its effect on Peter (recurring theme throughout the chapters) Not edited because I wanted to pot it today and written over the course of one day so my crappy writting. Takes place after NWH so spoilers if you haven't seen it.
If you haven't seen it go watch it right now, like literally close tumblr and go watch it. It's life changing.
Peter Parker was tired.
He was tired of the project Jameson had made him redo multiple times (4 and counting!), despite the fact that he thought it was perfectly fine. He was tired from his multiversal travel, even though he has been back in his own universe for three months now. And he was tired of being alone.
Now don't get him wrong, he was totally fine with living alone – he had for several years now. He was fine with maybe not getting out as much as he used to or seeing people outside of his work (willingly). The thing that bugged him was – well, it was a combination of things.
Landing in another universe changed him for the better. Seeing the two others Peter’s living their lives happily, or as happily as they could being a superhero, with someone sparked a bit of hope in his heart. They had time for Spider-Man, and they had time for Peter Parker. He hadn’t. Ever since that night in the clocktower, once he managed to drag himself out of the pit of despair, depression, and guilt that Gwen’s death had catapulted him into, he didn’t make time to be Peter Parker. Just Peter Parker. He left the city on its own for a while, and came back more brutal than before. He was the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, but he’s afraid he lost that title years ago.
Gwen was his one – his soulmate, his person, the one he was destined to spend forever and longer with. That’s what he thought at least. But he was older now, twenty-seven going on twenty-eight, and he no longer believed in that. He believed he was meant to fall in love with Gwen, become enamored by her, and then have her ripped away from him in the most gut wrenching way he could have possibly imagined (if he ever imagined it, which he didn’t), and then spend the rest of his life living with that knowledge. The knowledge that as every year passes, he grows a year older while Gwen is forever nineteen. That he lives with the guilt and pain about what happened that night. He believes he was meant to be alone, that the universe wanted to give him a taste of what a wonderful life he could have had if maybe he had never been bitten, or been so selfish, or maybe hadn’t been born with the name of Peter Benjamin Parker.
The universe could be a real bitch.
But part of him, a small part of him, had been healed when he saved his younger brother’s MJ, preventing him from living the life he had for almost eight years. Peter had found solace knowing that he prevented the youngest Peter from losing his twin flame, and that helped him heal. That had been the first true step in his healing journey, he realized, as nothing he had done before had really helped. The burning pain he once held in his heart and head had become a dull ache spread across his entire body over the years, but a trip to another universe had helped that ache subside just a bit. And for that, he was thankful.
Nine months out from a quick trip of meeting two other versions of him, he was healing. He was getting better. Peter blamed himself less than he had for Gwen’s death, the dull ache had subsided more, and although he knows it will never be fully gone, he’s glad it can become duller and duller until it’s almost absent. He was taking better care of himself, stopping in to see May more and staying longer for visits. Jameson finally accepted the project that had been causing him a substantial amount of grief since he had come back. (He had to do it over five times before Jameson finally deemed it acceptable, although at that point Peter had gotten tired of his shit and just submitted his first version again and Jameson didn’t even know.) He was trying to leave his apartment a bit more for things that weren’t work or errand related, and began decorating his apartment a bit nicer to hopefully bring some light into his life. He was on his way back from the bugle, and was only a few steps away from the elevator of his apartment building when he took a quick look to his left.
A few feet from his left was a woman close to the same age as him. She was obviously moving in as she had two moving boxes with her, although she was slightly struggling to get a hold on both of them. Her hair was short; dark brown cut to sit a bit above her shoulder, yet most of it was up in a ponytail, the rest sitting against the base of her neck, lightly damp with sweat. She was wearing a tank top and shorts, as it was now July and the heat was brutal, and he could see small beads of sweat collecting at her hairline. Nonetheless, Peter thought she was beautiful.
Looking at her made his heart race, made him feel nervous like he was back in highschool talking to Gwen again. He noticed his palms beginning to sweat and wiped them on his jeans as he debated going over to talk to her. He had almost decided on no when he had thought back to what the eldest of the Peters had told him.
He was going to make time for Peter Parker.
With that thought, he wiped his palms on his pants once more before going over to her.
“Uh, hi.” He greeted her with a small smile and wave before clearing his throat because he knows he sounds like a prepubescent teenager talking to his crush, and continued. “Hi, I was passing and saw you were moving without any help and was wondering if I could offer some.” He internally cringed at how he was talking to her, he was admittedly out of practice.
She smiled lightly while nodding her head. “That would be great actually. I’ve been struggling with these boxes for a bit, thank you.”
Peter nodded at her in response before picking up one of the boxes. “Lead the way.”
────────────────────────────────────────────
They made their way to the third floor before she stopped, put her box down, pulled out her keys and unlocked her door. She stepped out of the way to let Peter inside first before making her way inside with her last box.
“You can put it anywhere, obviously I’m not very particular about box placement.” She placed her box on the kitchen counter as she voiced this to Peter, and he made his way over to her and put his next to it.
He looked back at the various boxes scattered about the room before speaking. “Did you move all of these up here by yourself?”
Letting out a light laugh she responded. “Yeah, I didn’t have anyone helping me so it has taken me way too long. I was planning on unpacking some tonight but that is not gonna happen now.”
“I could help if you wanted.” Peter offered, part of him hoping she’d say yes, but another part hoping she’d say no.
“Oh no it’s okay. I feel bad I even took up the whole six minutes of your time already so you’re free to go.”
She and Peter walked to the door and he noticed the number emblazoned on the door. “3C, I’m one floor above 4C if you ever need anything. I know it’s always nice to have someone just in case when you’re moving in. I didn’t have that, all I had was this crotchety old woman who hated my guts so..” he trailed off while looking away, really wishing a hole would just swallow him up on the spot for being so awkward. But instead of grimacing or cringing, the woman smiled and thanked him.
“I’m Peter, by the way.” He stuck out his hand.
“I’m Marilyn.” She took his hand and shook it, before saying goodbye and seeing him off.
Marilyn.
Peter never thought a name would ever sound so sweet on his tongue.

If you’d like to be a part of this OC’s work/edits, let me know!
Continues in Part 2
A/N: In which I screw the itty details of the plot to fit my story :)
Part 1
Stuck in a different world was something Peter never thought he would have to deal with. Although, the mere idea that the multiverse was real was beyond exhilarating — it was perhaps the first time in a long time that he felt that kind of emotion. All he could do for the moment was stick to the shadows until he found someone who could help him.
And then he stepped out of the shadows and suddenly there were mobs of people, some angry — some trying to help him out? — trying to grab him on the street. Peter had no idea what to do except to literally swing out of there…and then someone grabbed his arm…and someone else grabbed his other arm. The crowd was going to swallow him in the middle of the street.
"HEY!" He managed to hear in the midst of all the chaos.
The mob of people froze in their tracks when a blinding light zapped on the side. All they saw were the remnants of some kind of white portal closing in on itself. At the same time, another portal opened up right behind them. Peter jumped with the foreign touch of hands on his shoulders.
"You're coming with me!" He heard before the light consumed his vision.
Next thing he knew, he was in an alleyway, stumbling away from the pair of hands.
"It's alright, I'm a friend," the voice, now clearly a woman, told him as he came to a stop.
He breathed hard, in and out, and stared at the woman through his mask. She herself wore one — a deep blue and white super suit — as well. Her long black hair cascaded over her chest and even behind the mask, he could see bright blue eyes curiously watching him back.
She raised her hands in front of her. "Friend," she repeated.
"Did you — was that light —" Peter spun around trying to catch sight of the white light he saw a minute ago. "Where'd it go!? Who the — was that you!?" He finally faced the woman again.
The woman nodded slowly. "I get it, multiverse conundrum is confusing and scary for those who are dragged into it. You happened to land in the one universe where Spiderman is basically a fugitive of the law."
"Not as crazy as you think," Peter had to say, "I'm more stuck on the fact that there's a multiverse and…" He paused for a second and gazed at the woman again, "You know about it. You know I'm not from here?"
"Mhm," the woman nodded.
"How?"
"Well, for starters, I actually know Spiderman from this world. And you —" she pointed at him, "—are a couple inches too tall. Plus, your suit's all wrong."
"Hey!" Peter's hands flung to his chest as he checked out his suit.
"And crossing the multiverse is sort of what I do," the woman finished off with a bang.
Peter dropped his arms on his sides, mouth gaping open behind his mask. "What? You cross worlds?"
The woman nodded. "Aha, my neat little trick if you'd like to give it a name. I felt the disturbance as soon as the others started coming in."
"Others?"
"Others." The woman looked up at the dark night sky. "Sorry it took me so long to find you. I've been trying to track you guys but I think Peter's pretty much gathered them all. There's too many for me to individually single out."
"You still sort of saved me," Peter had to give the woman her credit. "With your…multiverse powers…?"
The woman chuckled lightly. "Take it in, I know it's hard. You deserve 5 minutes of processing."
But of course those 5 minutes were interrupted when an orange portal swirled opened into existence. Peter straightened up immediately, ready for the fight that time. The woman, however, turned around calmly.
"Oh, that makes sense," she remarked.
Peter did a double take at her, finally noticing that she was not frightened nor alarmed by the portal. "What does?"
"The Sorcerers are getting involved now," she mumbled and started moving towards the portals, "This is their mess."
"Peter! Peter!" Someone called from the other end of the portal.
The woman came to a stop, once again tilting her head.
"Peter, c'mon!"
"Are they calling…me?" Peter pointed at himself, suddenly placing all of his trust on the woman in front of him.
"Yes…and no…" the woman said slowly.
"Bel-bel!?"
The woman let out a breathy laugh. "How did these idiots get a hold of that!?"
Peter felt the entire atmosphere change all of a sudden. The woman continued to walk forwards, more casual now and gestured to him to follow her.
"Maribel! Thank God!" MJ ran up to the woman as soon as she crossed through the portal and threw her arms around the woman for a hug. "Thank God you found him!"
"Again — yes and no…" 'Maribel' said slowly and prompted MJ to let her go.
Ned was still holding the portal open when Peter crossed through. Like everyone else, Ned knew that was not his best friend.
"Maribel…" MJ stepped back to stand with Ned, her eyes locked on the Spiderman-suited man who was not Spiderman.
Peter, meanwhile, was preoccupied with the little that he heard. "Maribel?"
"And there goes secret identities," Maribel said with a light sigh. She pulled her mask off from her face and revealed herself.
Out of shock, Peter did the same thing and yanked his mask off. His eyes were wide to the brim. "Maribel?" This had to be dumb luck.
Maribel raised an eyebrow at him. "I'm getting the sense that you know me."
Peter nodded slowly.
"Well we don't know him! Who is he!?" MJ exclaimed, her brow furrowing at Peter. "Who are you!?"
"I'm Peter Parker," the young man introduced himself, although his gaze seemed permanently stuck on Maribel.
"No, you're not," MJ shook her head fervently.
"Oh, yes he is," Maribel said, coming by the girl's side and resting a hand on her shoulder. "Because just like everyone else, Peter — our Peter — has doppelgangers."
"I thought doppelganger were supposed to be look the same…" Ned remarked.
"Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't," Maribel shrugged, "There are versions of ourselves in every world — sometimes even in the opposite sex. It's a whole complicated mess you don't need to worry about. What I need to know is what the hell have you been up to?" She turned on the two teenagers with a motherly disapproving stare. "Aren't you idiots weeks from graduation?"
"W-well, yeah, but…things happened…" Ned said, bringing his hands in front of himself. "Bad things…"
"Peter had Dr. Strange try doing a spell that would make everyone forget that he was spiderman but it sort of went wrong and it started pulling people from other worlds who knew Peter Parker instead," MJ said in one long, rushed ramble.
Maribel brought her hand to her forehead and rubbed it. "You are idiots. And I'm sorry —" she suddenly exclaimed, "—but Strange went for this idea!? Where the hell is he right now!? Why isn't he fixing it!?"
MJ exchanged looks with Ned, both clearing agreeing not to answer.
Maribel raised an eyebrow at the pair. "What?" She demanded, her voice hard.
"It's just…" MJ fiddled her fingers together, "Peter sort of left him…in another location…possibly Siberia? I don't know."
Maribel gaped. "What!?"
"But it's okay because now you're here!" MJ once again threw her arms around Maribel. "And you can cross worlds and use your powers to help fix this! Please fix this!"
"Wait a minute!" Peter finally called, waving his hands above his head. He claimed everyone's attention. "What the hell are you talking about!? Maribel — please just answer me."
"And where'd you find this guy?" Ned asked Maribel and jerked a thumb at Peter.
Maribel sighed as she detached herself from MJ's grip. "I found him on the streets escaping the mob of people who now hate Spiderman. I'm getting senses everywhere right now. My radar's going haywire." She turned towards Peter, offering the confused man a soft smile. "You know me, right?"
Peter nodded silently. It was exceptionally fascinating Maribel looked exactly the same as the version that he knew. The suit and the powers were quite literally out of this world but everything else about her was the same. It was comforting…in the midst of all the chaos.
"My name's Maribel Jenavid," she walked up to Peter and held a hand out, "And I promise you that in this world, we can be friends too. You can trust me."
"But can we trust him?" MJ said defensively.
"Yes," Peter said, offended at the insinuation. "I am Peter Parker!"
"He is," Maribel said calmly, "Just not from here and given the recent events that happened — yes, I've seen the news —" MJ and Ned shut down very quickly, "—I don't think we have time to argue about this. Trust me, I'm the multiverse expert."
"How?" Peter found himself asking. He kept looking at Maribel from head to toe, trying to make sense of it all.
Maribel shrugged. "Always been like that. Born with it."
Peter raised an eyebrow at her. "Born with it?" Maribel nodded and just as he was about to ask more things, Maribel turned to the teens.
"We need to find Peter now," she told them, "In his state, he can do some damage."
MJ and Ned agreed and started explaining to Maribel that had been their plan all along and that they had instead brought a different Peter to them. Maribel understood the mechanics of sorcery was not at all on Ned's resume but motivated him to try again. He was, after all, Peter's best friend. So, he did try again.
And he somehow brought in another Peter Parker, this one slightly older than the Peter with Maribel.
"Oh dear Lord," Maribel slapped a hand over her forehead.
MJ looked ready to murder Ned. "DUDE!"
"I'm trying!" Ned said helplessly.
"MJ?" The third Peter gazed at Maribel profusely, seeming fascinated.
"MJ?" The Peter that had come with Maribel stared in confusion.
Maribel flipped her head between the two Peters, bemused herself. "Maribel Jenavid," she told the confused Peter, "Maribel — M — Jenavid — J. MJ," she smiled, "Michelle Jones over here," she gestured towards MJ, "saw that little tidbit. She sees things that others don't. We're the two MJs."
MJ raised her hand in the peace gesture.
Maribel then looked over at the third Peter. "But how did you know that?"
Third Peter's eyebrows raised as his lips curved into a wide, knowing smile. "You're MJ," he said simply like that would answer the question completely.
Maribel deadpanned the man, figuring that was all she was going to get out of him for the moment. "Anyways," she said sharply, eyes flickering to the group, "We still need to find the other Peter. Can we please do that now?"
Everyone agreed and started discussing what places this earth's Peter would go to. With two more Peters on the clock, they were able to deduce a spot that could potentially lead to the last Peter.
Maribel paved the way with a portal, once again exhibiting her powers. They found Peter on the rooftop of his high school, mourning (in the worst way possible) his aunt's death. They were only barely able to convince their Peter not to send every multiverse guest back to their own world.
They headed downstairs where they picked up on the previous plans to finish curing the other guests. Maribel had no idea about the plans and yet wasn't surprised the teens had come up with it in the first place. Their hearts were always in the right places, no matter how messy the circumstances got.
Maribel was all set to help with whatever she could, though she confessed she had no real knowledge about scientific cures. She instead set out to help the younger ones and with that left the school lab for a few minutes. She returned with a first aid kit for the youngest Peter and with MJ's help, she patched him up as best as she could.
"You'll be okay but you need to stop moving so much," Maribel chuckled as Peter winced each time they touched his skin. Granted he was overly hurt this time but there was a limit and he was crossing it.
"Thanks, Mar," Peter mumbled.
Maribel gently hooked her finger under his chin and tilted his head up. "That's nurse Mar to you, mister." She happened to look up and noticed the other Peters looking at them. She bared a small smile at them and motioned MJ to take over. She figured they needed to talk anyway.
Maribel walked a little a while away when she felt her stomach flip. The echoes of it spread throughout her body, making it harder to reach the windows in the room. She gazed up at the sky and wondered where the cracks were coming from this time, and who was coming out of them. She wrapped an arm around her stomach, focusing on her breathing until she could feel normal again.
"Mar?"
Maribel glanced over her shoulder. The Peter she'd found was approaching her cautiously.
"I-I mean Maribel…yeah…" He said with a hitched breath, "Yeah…" He stuck his hands inside the white lab coat he'd taken from the cabinet. It was way better than parading around in his suit. "Are you okay? You seem a little…off…?"
Maribel nodded and unwrapped her arm from her waist. "I'm, um, well…I'm connected to the multiverse and its stability. Right now, it's cracking in places so when it cracks…I feel them. And there's multiple cracks right now."
Peter's eyebrows shot up. "Oh my God — it's hurting you!?" Should she be the one getting patched up!?
Maribel let out a quiet chuckle. "I'm okay, just…just like a light cold, you know?"
"But the logic is, the more trouble the multiverse is in, the more trouble you're in," Peter said, "And it's like you said, there's multiple cracks right now."
Maribel still dismissed the matter with a wave of her hand. "Why not instead tell me how you know me, hm? I'm always curious to know what my doppelgangers are like. Are we friends?"
Peter lowered his head instantly. "Um…sort of…"
"Sort of?"
"Well, it's complicated…" Peter sighed, "Mar — Maribel — and I…we used to be friends…"
Maribel paused and turned to face Peter. Suddenly she wasn't very eager about her other self. "What do you mean? Are we not — we're not friends?"
Peter sighed and shook his head. "No."
"But…but why?" Maribel glanced over at her Peter, unable to believe there was a version of her who decided not to be friends with him anymore.
Peter gave a long shrug of his shoulders, still looking pretty hurt over the fact. His lips pursed together while he thought about the question he never really found an answer to. "Dunno," he ultimately said, "I mean, we were close friends. We had a group — me, her, our friend Gwen Stacy and Harry Osborn and we were all good." Peter stopped for a second to gauge Maribel's reaction at the new names. She was all blank. Peter should have figured and because he hadn't, he looked between Maribel and his counterpart with his friends. "Okay, how do you know them?" He asked helplessly. "No offense but you're older than them? What, you tutor them?"
Maribel smiled sadly. "It's a long story. We-we fought on the same side…then aliens happened and-and time travel and…suddenly, the people Peter looked up to died. The remaining adults either died or they're just somewhere else and I have no idea what Dr. Strange is doing right now so…so I guess I just sort of saw myself as the only remaining adult in their lives," Maribel gazed at her young friends, her smile fading away, "They're still so young and…" she shrugged, "I couldn't turn my head away. Plus, I'm sort of a teacher so this is like an extension of my job."
Peter nodded. He respected Maribel about ten times more now. It seemed like the kind of thing she would do.
"What about you?" Maribel surprised him with the sudden question. "What-what happened between us? Did we get into a fight?"
Peter had to shrug again, and sadly. "No, no, there was…there was never any argument, no fighting. One day she just…stopped hanging out with us. First it was excuses that she couldn't meet with us or suddenly she had last minute changes. Then, she just stopped answering our calls and our texts. At school she would sit far away from us, go in the opposite direction." Peter had missed Maribel's strange gaze the more he thought about those moments. The pain in his heart still felt pretty raw. "In retrospect I could have done more but then I became, you know, Spiderman and I had new things to handle and deal with. I-I lost my uncle, and-and then we lost Gwen. Harry and I couldn't cope and Mar, she just — she just slipped through the cracks." Peter's eyes watered up real fast, the emotions taking him over in record time that it concerned Maribel for a second. "I should have paid more attention to her but I — there was so much going on and…now it's too late. Me being Spiderman is what killed one of my friends. I think Mar is just better being away from me."
Maribel could only wonder what that must have been like, going through one loss after that other. For this Peter, it was obvious that the hurt was still like it had just happened yesterday.
"I don't believe that," she said calmly, her lips spreading into a soft smile, "Because you seem like the type who would do anything to protect their friends. I don't know what the other me is like but I want to believe that we have something in common."
"Yeah?"
Maribel nodded. "It's that we would do anything to protect the people we care about too. Do you know where my family is right now?"
"Um, no…"
"They're far away from me because I would rather they think that I ran away than have them know what I do." Maribel raised her hands, allowing her energy to swirl around her fingers. "And do you know when I left them and my friends?"
Peter felt a dread start up in his stomach. "When?" He swallowed hard.
Maribel knew that he knew what was coming. Her smile curved down sadly. "When I was in high school. Senior year."
Peter actually felt the air leave his lungs. He stared long and hard at Maribel as if begging her to say that it wasn't true, that he hadn't missed that too. But Maribel — his Maribel — had stopped talking to him so suddenly. Whenever he managed to find a moment with her, she was so nervous — almost terrified — and she never touched him. Her hands were always behind her back, in her pockets, or her arms were crossed super tightly. Had he really been that engulfed with his own issues that he had missed the fact one of his best friends had developed powers?
Maribel could only watch so much of Peter falling deep into thoughts, no doubt of self guilt. "You couldn't have known," she said simply, "I am an exceptional liar. Duped everyone."
"Not me," said Peter, his voice short of breaking, "She wasn't supposed to dupe me."
"Don't take it personal," Maribel said, "If she was like me, then her powers must have been explosive. They were disastrous, Peter. She just wanted to keep you safe."
Peter would argue the hell out of that if he hadn't done the same thing. Spiderman was the reason Gwen died and even before that, he had thought it was just a safer idea to keep Maribel away. She got to live her life without interruptions, unlike Gwen and Harry who constantly had to stop what they were doing to help him deal with Spiderman stuff.
Maribel didn't know what else to say at this point. Her doppelganger had done exactly what she did on this earth and, like her, there were probably no regrets.
"Are you okay?" She asked quietly, knowing her question beyond stupid. It just gave her the excuse to keep talking to him.
Peter gave her a weak nod. "Yeah…" He mumbled. He walked away from her without so much of a glance in her direction. Somehow, it still sort of hurt Maribel. Her doppelganger made the call and she was paying for it.
~ 0 ~
A half hour had passed since the group got started on the series of cures. Maribel had left the lab a while ago, muttering something about a water cup. And as much distance as she had put between them, it didn't do anything for the Peter she had spoken with.
He couldn't get it out of his head that Mar had lied to him — had lied to everyone. She had cut off ties with everyone around her, and no doubt with her own family. If Peter remembered correctly, last time he heard, as soon as they graduated high school she had moved out of her parents' home and gotten a casual job somewhere in the city. He was guilty of never even trying to talk to her after graduation; Gwen and Harry did once but neither had been successful. Maribel turned both away.
All of those thoughts slowed his work down significantly. Each time Peter caught himself, he reprimanded himself and vowed to pick up his pace…only to repeat the cycle again.
"You okay?"
Peter realized he'd been staring way too much at the beakers in front of him then looked up to see the eldest of the doppelgangers smiling gently at him.
"Sorry," Peter shifted in his stool, straightening his body up to continue working.
Older Peter rested a hand on his shoulder. "What exactly did MJ tell you? Changed your whole atmosphere…"
"MJ?" Peter's head turned to the teenage MJ still sitting beside her boyfriend at the table ahead of them.
"No, the other one. Maribel," older Peter corrected himself, his smile turning into a chuckle, "Sorry, I'm not used to calling her that."
Peter's face scrunched and he finally turned his body to face the other Peter. "Wait a minute, how do you know her?"
Older Peter's smile was wide like a child facing a shelf of candy. "We go way back," he replied, "MJ — Maribel — and I were friends in high school."
A sourness took over Peter's face as he remembered what Maribel told him. "She didn't cut you out of her life then?"
Older Peter raised an eyebrow at his younger doppelganger. "What?"
Peter looked away. "Mar used to be one of my best friends too…and then one day she wasn't. Now I find out that she has these super powers and that she felt the need to distance herself from me and from the rest of our friends." With the silence that had fallen between them, Peter glanced at his doppelganger to see the latter not as shocked as one would have thought. It took very little for Peter to realize the doppelganger wasn't surprised because he already knew. "Did she—"
"I didn't let her," older Peter said quietly, "And that's not to say that you did something wrong. MJ was just different."
"How?" Peter asked warily.
"Looking at this doppelganger—" older Peter made a gesture to the open doorway," —this MJ has far stronger powers than my MJ. Her powers weren't as developed — they aren't. Most she can do is teleport. Things were different, easier, but it still took some work. Now we're finally somewhere good." The way he smiled led Peter to wonder just how "good" that place was.
In the end, Peter shook his head and turned back to his work on the table. "Doesn't matter. Haven't seen her in a long time now."
"I wouldn't give up," older Peter said, "Because if she's still alive, then she's still in your reach. Fair game."
"Fair game," Peter mumbled to himself with a light chuckle. He supposed that was right in some way.
"Maribel!" Ned exclaimed when the woman appeared under the doorway.
"What?" she sipped from a scratched up blue water cup. Even some of the stickers covering the entire thing were old and missing parts.
"You seriously went looking for that thing?" The youngest Peter looked at her strangely.
"Shut up," Maribel pointed at him then took another sip, "Mr. Lopez confiscated it from me for one stupid inappropriate sticker."
"So?" Youngest Peter shrugged. "He confiscates things from everyone here."
Maribel's face was entirely flat. "I'm a volunteer," she reminded sharply. "I'm—oh!" Her legs buckled and only barely managed to sustain herself against the door hinges.
"Maribel!" The group of teenagers dashed over to her, leaving the other Peters to stare bewilderedly
"I'm fine, I'm fine," Maribel assured them but she hadn't even felt when MJ took her water cup right out of her hand. "It's the multiverse — it's getting worse…"
Peter and Ned helped her walk to the closest stool and sat her down. MJ put the water cup on the table behind them.
"What's she talking about?" Oldest Peter asked, coming around the tables towards the group.
"Maribel's connected to the multiverse," youngest Peter explained, gaze fixated on the woman who was regulating her own breathing. "Each time there's a crack, she feels it." The guilt inside him was getting bigger and bigger. He wished he could take back everything that was happening. Everyone else was paying for his mistakes.
"I will be fine," Maribel insisted, reaching over for her water cup, "I'm just a little tired. How are the cures coming along?"
"We're almost done," youngest Peter said, "And then we're going to fix everything, okay?" He rested a hand on Maribel's shoulder. "You're going to be okay, Maribel, I swear."
Maribel nodded, smiling gently at him. "I know that, silly."
"And after this, we're all going to buy you big bouquets of sunflowers," youngest Peter rallied his friends to agree with him, which they did with the same comedic fervent nods.
Maribel laughed. Sunflowers were her favorite flowers. "Yeah, alright. Let's get back to work now."
There was nothing else to do except for that. Time was still running, after all.
~ 0 ~
"They're going to crucify you for using that place as the point of your fight," Maribel told the youngest Peter when he told the group where they would lure the misfits. "The Statue of Liberty is still being renovated."
Peter knew she had a point but he couldn't stop to think of another place just to avoid some more bad press. "It has to be there."
Maribel shook her head and walked to the table where her water cup stood, slightly wobbly on her feet.
"Hey Peter, here's your web cartridges," Ned stopped beside Peter with the cartridges.
"Oh, thanks, man," Peter said, taking the cartridges excitedly.
The oldest Peter looked at the cartridge curiously. "What's that for?"
"Uh, it's my web fluid. It's for my web shooters…" the youngest Peter answered slowly, growing confused, "Why?"
Instead of verbally answering, the oldest Peter fired a web out of his wrist. The shock of it racing past Maribel scared her into dropping her water cup.
"HEY!" She cried.
"Sorry MJ…" The oldest Peter made a face, quickly bringing his hands behind his back.
"That came out of you!?" Ned's mouth dropped open, as well as everyone else's.
"Yeah. You can't do that, huh?"
"No," went both Peter's collectively.
"Peter!" Maribel exclaimed, earning all three doppelgangers' 'what?' in return. She groaned. "I'm not doing this. Peter 1!" She pointed at the youngest Peter then moved her finger towards the eldest doppelganger. "Peter 2!" Her finger then moved to the last Peter. "And Peter 3! There! Got it?"
"Wait, why is he Peter 1?" asked the eldest doppelganger.
"Because he's the Peter of this world. You're the oldest, so you're 2 and then that just leaves number 3 for you," Maribel said, smiling awkwardly at Peter 3.
Out of everything that was wrong with the world, Peter 3 thought this was by far the lowest on his problem scale. "Fine, whatever," he shrugged.
Maribel silently sighed to herself. He had yet to direct a word to her since their conversation. She thought this would be a source of an argument. "Anyways, I was just going to ask for a refill on my water." She brought the group's attention to the water on the floor in front of her, her water cup on the side.
"Sorry…" Peter 2 felt the need to say again.
Maribel afforded him a small smile. "I'll survive."
"Anyway," Peter 1 said sharply, "we're getting sidetracked. Look, this is where we're gonna do this, okay? It's isolated, so no one should get hurt. We draw them there with the box, it's the one thing they all want. All we have to do is figure out how we're gonna get there."
"I can literally teleport," Maribel said with a hand raised in the air.
"Nu-uh," Peter 1 shook his head.
"What?"
"You're connected to the multiverse and you're feeling every crack in it. You're getting weaker," Peter 1 said, side glancing at MJ and Ned. They nodded, encouraging him to keep going. "You're not going to use your powers. I don't want you getting hurt."
"What?" Maribel frowned.
"He's right," MJ said, "You should stay out of it with us."
Maribel rolled her eyes. "Then how else do you propose we get there?"
"Oh, we can portal there!" Ned said suddenly, having thought about it at that moment.
"No! You barely know how to use that!"
"Wait, what?" Peter 1 looked between Maribel and Ned.
"I'm magic now," Ned said excitedly.
"No, he's not," Maribel said at the same time MJ agreed with Ned.
"Yeah, no, no. He's right. He can!"
"No—"
"Yeah, we saw him," Peter 2 nodded.
"Yeah. He is," Peter 3 also chimed in.
Maribel groaned. "That's not magic — that was dumb luck! And you two—" she pointed at Peter 1 and Ned, "—better hope Dr. Strange doesn't portal you to frikin Antarctica!"
Peter 1 understood nothing except that his best friend suddenly had magic powers.
"I can do it," Ned insisted, turning to Leter 1, "And I promise you...I won't turn into a supervillain and try to kill you."
Peter 3 reached over to pat Ned on the back, nodding in approval.
Peter 1 was so utterly lost. "O-kay...thank... you? Um...alright. Here goes nothing. What's that thing you always say?" He glanced at MJ. "If you expect disappointment…"
"No, no, no…" MJ shook her head, "We gotta kick some ass."
"Cure. Cure some ass," Peter 2 corrected.
Ned grinned. "Cure that ass!"
"This is insane!" Maribel huffed as the decision to keep her out of the fight was finalized.

PLOTS IN PROGRESS — LOVE, ROSIE a Spider-Man Fanfiction feat. ROSIE LAWSON. (coming soon!)
EVEN IF ROSIE LAWSON wasn’t the daughter of J. Jonah Jameson, all around asshole, regular guest of Delusionville, and abandoner of birthday parties, she’s pretty sure she would still want to move to Scotland and forget all about the godforsaken city.
She had straight A’s at the most intellectually advanced technology school on the entire Eastern seaboard, riches beyond belief (“Thank you, dad, for the money! Really, it’s no biggie that you threw six hundred bucks my way instead of attending my scholarship acceptance!”), and the possibility of a chance with the golden boy of Midtown — and yet, she wanted none of it.
Rosie wanted to live, to feel alive when she did things, to feel like she was doing something other than sitting on her pissed, rich ass and applying for scholarships she knew she didn’t need, because her family could pay for her college in full.
When the headline SPIDERMENACE: HERO OR VIGILANTE? flashes across the billboards bearing the name of her dad’s publishing company, Rosie thinks nothing of it, other than the fact that she’s due a call with her mother to insist they send her dad to a professional institution. However, in a confounding turn of events involving one new photography intern and a flying green elf, Rosie’s life becomes much more interesting, and just perhaps that desire of hers to live has a chance of becoming reality.

Three Weeks - Part 1
Pairing: Spiderman/Original Male Character
Summary: Takes place in high school
After Manuel Juarez (MJ) met Spiderman for the first time, it took him 3 weeks to uncover that he was Peter Parker. To be honest, Manny doesn’t know how he didn’t figure it out sooner…
Warnings: some bad words, ig? basically fluff
Author’s Note: So I did a thing. I’ve never posted a fic here before. This honestly spurred from a tweet I saw after seeing NWH about how Andrew Garfield’s Spiderman is yet to meet his MJ and it could be a dude. After seeing that a character instantly formed in my head and I needed an outlet. i made my peter parker a very vague cutout, so one can imagine whatever one floats their boat whether that’s Maguire, Holland, the lego version 🤷🏾♀️
also this will be in like 4 parts i think. enjoy!
October 4
Back to you, Shannon.
Thank you, Charles. Breaking news here tonight in Queens. Our friendly neighborhood Spiderman faces off with the notorious villain known as Doc-Ock on 73rd. Local authorities blocked access to the street as the two fought. Video footage shows Doc-Ock slamming Spiderman through a new apartment building being constructed, causing the entire structure to collapse on the hero.
That’s awful, Shannon.
Tell me about it, Charles. Eyewitnesses saw Spiderman limping out of the building after Doc-Ock escaped apprehension once again. Here’s wishing for a swift recovery for our hero…

Manny was bored out of his mind. There were still another 45 minutes till closing time, and he was the only person on the clock at the small drugstore . If he was more like his older sister Ricky, he would have just closed the store early (which is against store policy). He’d have gone home and worked on the essay he was yet to start. But unfortunately, Manny just did not have it in him. And his boss was a little scary. So he just sighed, pulled his shoulder-length hair into a bun, sat on the stool behind the counter, and pulled out his math homework.
About 10 minutes later, the bell on the door jangled as someone came through, a gust of cold air hitting Manny straight in the face. After adjusting to the harsh change in temperature, a smile broke out on his face, seeing who was at the door.
“Auntie May May!” He yelled from the counter, hands cupped around his mouth.
The woman laughed in response. “Manuel, darling, how are you?”
“I’m chill,” he said leaning forward to rest his elbows on the counter. “I’ve got too much homework though.”
“And I know you’ll pull through, cause you’re smart,” she stated, smiling at him. “Last I heard from your mom, you were on the honor roll?”
Manny looked down, his face flushing. “It’s no big deal.”
“Baloney. You’re one of the smartest kids I know.” They continued chatting as May picked up what she needed and headed toward him. As Manny started scanning the items, he looks up at her curiously.
“You planning on starting an emergency clinic in that house of yours?” He asked, after scanning the fifth box of jumbo bandages.
“You would think, huh? My nephew Peter, you know Peter, right? Anyway, he came home today limping with bruises and cuts all over after yet another skateboarding accident.” She shook her head in exasperation. “I have half a mind to take that thing and make him ride the bus.”
Manny knew Peter, but they weren’t exactly friends. They ran in different circles at school and didn’t share any classes. “Oh May, don’t do that. The bus is an even worse punishment.” Manny said, scanning the last item.
She raised an eyebrow as she handed over the cash. “Like I said.” He laughed and handed back her change. She shook her head and pushed it towards him like she always does. “Might even teach him a thing or two about personal safety and responsibility.”
As she grabbed her bags off the table, Manny remembered something. He leaned over the counter and extended his hand to the candy display in front. He grabbed two boxes of Raisinets and passed them to May. “For your troubles.”
May grinned and reached into her purse before Manny said, “Uh uh. Nope. We’ve had this conversation before. No one else buys Raisinets. The only 3 people I know who like these nasty things are my tío Ernesto, Peter, and Be-.” He cut off instantly, not knowing whether he pushed a button or not.
But May just smiled nostalgically. “Yeah, you’re right. Ben used to eat these things by the handful while he worked. Always made my skin crawl.” Manny and May shared a secret smile before May slipped the chocolate into her bag. “Keep up the good work, Manuel.”
“I’ll try, Aunt May.”
*•.•*•.•*•.•*•.•*
After locking up the store at 9:30, Manny started on the long, cold walk back home. Usually, he has his bike on him, but picking up his younger sister from the doctor today messed with his schedule, so the bike was at his house. Now he had to endure this 25-minute walk. He slipped his earbuds in and started playing Frank Ocean as he walked through the streets of Queens; not quite asleep, not quite awake, existing somewhere in between.
About halfway through his journey, Manny felt a weird vibe. The vibe could mean a few things: he was being followed, watched, or stupid. He cut off the volume of his music, but kept his earbuds in, and slid his house key between his fingers so the sharp edge juts out.
Out of the corner of his eye, he detected movement. He slowed his walk to more of a stroll and his senses heightened. Then, he whirled around, prepared to take this dude head-on. Only to find nothing. Nobody was following him. Even the homeless people under the train tracks were minding their own business.
He sighed and turned back around, only to be face to face with Spiderman. Manny let out a yell and jumped back a few steps.
“Man, what?!” Manny gripped his knees to catch his breath, and strands of his hair fell out of the bun and into his face. “¿Que te pasa?”
“I’m sorry. Oh gosh. I’m so, so sorry.” Spiderman scrambled toward him. “Are you ok?”
“Yeah, I’m fine,” Manny said. But then he felt a slight stinging sensation on his right hand. When he turned his hand palm up, he saw blood trickling down his fingers. He must have cut his hand with his key when Spiderman startled him.
“Fuck,” Spiderman said, taking his hand and inspecting it. Manny didn’t realize superheroes cussed.
“I’m fine, dude,” Manny repeated, removing his hand from Spiderman’s grasp. He then proceeded to pour the rest of his water bottle on it to wash away the blood and then shoved one of his gloves on. “I’ll deal with it when I get home.” Then he looked Spiderman up and down wearily. “Were you following me?”
“Yes,” Spiderman said before he seemed to realize that it was a creepy fucking thing to say, and then backtracked. “Well, um, I was doing my final sweep of the neighborhood, and I saw you were walking alone. It’s a slow night, plus there’s been an uptick in crime in this area, so I thought I’d keep an eye on you until you got to your destination.”
“Oh.” Manny tilted his head slightly, confused. “Well, why didn’t you walk next to me then? Maybe alert me to your presence?”
“Umm, I kind of…” Spiderman trailed off uncomfortably. “I kind of banged my leg up today. It’s still healing.”
Manny suddenly remembered the news he watched earlier today. Doc-Ock slamming Spiderman through a new apartment building… Spiderman limping out... “How did you get here, then?”
“Oh!” Spiderman exclaims excitedly. “Yeah, I just swung here. You know with my…webs.”
Silence. And then Manny said, “Couldn’t you, I don’t know, swing me home?”
Spiderman seemed to hesitate at this. Manny flashed him a lopsided grin. “What? Is there a weight limit? I thought super strength came with the entire,” Manny gestured at the hero, “package.”
“No no no, it’s not that. It’s just… it’s a lot to handle, the first time around.”
“Hey, I’m a big boy,” Manny said defensively. “I can handle it.”
This was the dumbest decision Manny had made in quite some time. The minute Spiderman dropped him off in front of his house, he launched himself towards the nearest bush and unleashed his entire lunch onto his mother’s poor flowers.
“Mierda, that was awful. Jesus Christ.”
“Hey now. Did I not warn you, Manny?” Spiderman asked arms outstretched dramatically. “Traveling this way is not for the faint of heart.”
“¿Perdóneme? You made it sound like it was just gonna be a little bumpy. That was “Tower of Terror” on steroids, my friend. No me gusta.” Then he vomited again.
Spiderman rolled his eyes before approaching Manuel. He paused briefly before rubbing his back. “Are you ok?”
Manny stood upright a few moments later, wiped his mouth off, and turned to his companion with an eyebrow raised. “Take a wild guess, Sherlock. Then he took note of the fact that Spiderman seemed to be leaning heavily on his left leg. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah,” Spiderman said. “The healing is taking a little longer than I expected, but I should be good in a few hours. The city’s safe in my hands.”
Manny looked at Spiderman for a long moment before opening his bag and digging through it. Eventually, he pulled out the bag of Raisinets he stashed in there for his uncle. The cranky man could stand to lose a couple, anyways. “My Abuelita always says that the fastest way to heal is through love and sweets. Ironically, she has heart disease and 3 divorces under her belt, but beggars can’t be choosers.” Manny extended the bag. “All I have are these crappy mini turd candies, but-“
“I love Raisinets,” Spiderman said enthusiastically, taking the bag of candy gratefully.
“You don’t say.” Now Manny knew 4 people in this entire world who liked Raisinets.
Spiderman lifted the candy in gratitude. “Thanks for this, Manny.” He was about to shoot a web at the nearest building before he paused. “Make sure you disinfect that cut and wrap it so it doesn’t get infected.”
“Make sure you rest that leg, so it doesn’t fall off,” Manny shot back. And Spiderman swung away, laughing.
It wasn’t until much later that night Manny wondered how the superhero knew his name.
*•.•*•.•*•.•*•.•*
At school the next day, Manny walked up and down the empty hallway, trying to write passable conclusion for his essay. He had about 4 minutes left in his free period before his History class. He found that movement helped his brain work faster, so he paced back and forth. An unsafe choice, seeing as he crashed into someone about 10 seconds later.
“I’m so sorry,” he said quickly, reaching down to pick up his notebook at the same time the other person did. Manny looked up to see Peter Parker. They stood at the same time, and Peter passed him his pen.
“It’s all good,” he said. Manny notices two bandaids on his cheek and a small one on his forehead.
“Looks like May played a game of operator on you.”
Peter laughed shyly, rubbing the back of his neck. “Yeah. And the thing about it is, the cuts have completely healed!” He lifted one of the bandages on his cheek to reveal nothing but clear skin. “Not even a scar! But Aunt May worries, so…” He lowers his gaze for a moment. “Your hand doin’ okay?”
Manny looked down at the shoddy bandage wrapping he did before passing out on his bed the night before. “Yeah, it’s fine. I scratched it going home last night.” Manny left out the part about the superhero involved. “As you can see, I’m no medical professional.”
“Can I…” Peter inclined his head towards the injured hand in a question. Manny nodded, and Peter reached out and took his hand. The tip of his tongue stuck out slightly in concentration as he scrutinized the attempt. Then, he gently unwrapped the bandage, before wrapping it more securely. When Peter was done, he didn’t immediately let go. He caressed the hand slightly and looked up at Manny.
“Is it okay? Too tight?” He asked. And because the ability to put words together seemed to fail Manny at that moment, he opted for a thumbs up with his other hand. “Good.” Peter dropped his hand and looked down at the watch. “That leaves you maybe a minute and a half to finish your essay.”
“Fuck,” Manny groaned, quickly finding the place where he stopped in his conclusion and picking up where he left off. He heard Peter snort at his scrambling, which made him stop and look up, eyes narrowed. “You enjoy that bus ride this morning, Peter?”
The smile on Peter’s face dropped instantly and reappeared on Manny’s face. The smiling boy swiveled and walked away. But not before he saw the corners of Peters lips quirk upward.

‘tis the damn season
Chapter Four: invisible string
Word Count: 1.3k
Warnings: Age-gap
Masterlist
Summary: Peter and Ailani travel around campus. Peter is excited to show her his favorite professor who just so happened to be Ailani’s favorite too.
Song: invisible string by Taylor Swift
While at the Moondance diner, Ailani is reading a Daily Bugle newspaper. Specifically one about Spider-Man. “Didn’t peg Jonah to hate a hero.” She laughed a little, taking a sip of her coffee before she looked at Peter from the edge of the paper. “But at least it’s giving you a job.” Ailani teased.
Ailani was a bit surprised that there was already a hero in New York, especially one named ‘Spider-Man.’ Not the best name in her opinion but it was definitely very literal. A man who had the powers of a spider, couldn’t get a better name than that.
Peter rolled his eyes and took a sip of his own coffee. “C’mon, let’s go to the campus before it closes for the holidays.” He said, pulling the woman up from her seat.
“Hey! I need my coffee, Parker!”
Ailani and Peter’s arms were interlocked as they walked around campus, talking and laughing a little at stories they told about certain parts of the campus. Ailani didn’t realize just how many good memories she had at the college and how a lot of them were somehow tied to Otto.
It made her feel…. Nostalgic and she even felt a tinge of longing. For something. Maybe it was Otto, maybe it was something else. That feeling when she was around him.
Like she was floating on air.
“I need to introduce you to my favorite professor.” Peter said excitedly, pulling Ailani into the science building. “He’s practically my idol now and he’s in the middle of doing a project that could change mankind for the better.” He was so giddy about this so how could Ailani ever say no?
Her friend opened the door to an empty classroom with only one man at a desk there. He was hunched over the desk, scribbling something down. Peter led Ailani over to the desk, the woman letting out a small gasp as she caught a glimpse at the face of the man.
It was Otto.
“Hello, Dr. Octavius.” The younger boy greeted his teacher, a gentle smile on his face.
“Parker, I’m sorry but I am in the middle of something-” Otto finally looked up and squinted a little at Ailani. That couldn’t be her…. She had brown hair and….. Two green eyes. But Otto could never forget what Ailani looked like, her green eyes haunted his consciousness for years. His breath was caught in his lungs as Ailani smiled at him.
The girl had a soft expression on her face as emotions from years ago started to flood her heart. “Hello, Doc.” She whispered softly, her eyes glazed over with something unrecognizable but if she told you what it was you may not have believed her.
Otto hasn’t changed much in five years. He still has a beard and nicely trimmed hair, in fact, he dressed almost the exact same. The only one change Ailani noticed was Otto’s grey hairs, he had more in his beard and at his temples. It made him look impossibly more attractive.
“Ailani….” Otto let out a breath before a smile finally reached his lips. “Y-You look different. How have you been, dear?” He blinked as he got up from his desk, immediately going to hug her. Peter walked off to the side to let them hug.
Maybe this was a part of his plan for the day, only he would know.
Ailani laughed a little and hugged Otto back, molding into his body with a smile. She felt so comforted in that moment. “Five years and a container of acid can do that to a girl. I’m good though, Otto.” She said softly once they pulled away, “Though, I see you haven’t changed much.” She winked.
The older man blinked at Ailani’s newfound confidence. The Ailani he remembers was shy and quiet but now she was so much more straightforward. Not that Otto minded, it made him proud. Hell, she was a woman now. A grown one. And he couldn’t help but stare at her. Ailani was absolutely beautiful.
“There’s not much I can say.” Otto blushed a little, shaking his head at Ailani. “But you…. There must be so much that happened, I want to know about it.” He said softly, his eyes holding Ailani with such reverence.
Peter decided to but in this time, wrapping an arm around Ailani’s shoulder. “I was wondering if you could show Ailani your project?” He smiled softly, glancing back at her. Otto’s eyes fixated on Peter’s hand that was Ailani’s shoulder. Of course, Ailani wanted to be with someone more her age.
“Sure! I can’t have my favorite student being left out.” Otto hummed as he gathered up his things and put them in his bag. “My team should be still working on it right now, if not, we’ll have the lab all to ourselves.” He explained, his eyes lingering on Ailani for a moment.
“I thought I was your favorite student?” Peter frowned playfully.
“That was before Ailani came back.”
Ailani doesn’t remember the last time she was squished between two men on an elevator. Granted, one of them was her best friend while the other was a man she had a crush on for almost ten years. Thankfully, the ride to Otto’s lab wasn’t that long. If it was any longer, she might have gone insane in there.
When the elevator door opened, Ailani’s jaw dropped open. It was like a scientist's dream. She stepped into the lab, her eyes running over every single piece of equipment and things getting made. She blinked for a moment as she caught sight of something in particular. Ailani remembered the blueprints Otto had all those years ago.
Otto watched Ailani look around, a gentle smile on his face. He missed her face, no matter how much she changed. “This is my fusion reactor.” He nodded at the woman who seemed to recognize it. “Peter’s friend, Harry Osborn, helped to fund my project to make it real.”
“That is…. Wonderful, Doc.” Ailani let out a breath of bewilderment. “Pete, can this Harry Osborn give me some money?” She asked teasingly, but she was happy Otto’s dream was finally coming true.
Peter shrugged and laughed quietly at Ailani, “Unless you have a million dollar idea like Dr. Octavius, I don’t think so.” He winked and nudged at her.
“Oh, I have many of those, just not sure they’re all for scientific advancement.” Ailani teased back at Peter, chuckling a little as she turned back to look at the lab. Otto cocked an eyebrow at the statement, a small laugh coming from between his lips. Ailani’s eyebrows furrowed as she looked at some metal contraption at the side of the lab. “What are those for?”
Otto followed her line of sight and smiled a little. Always an observant girl. “They will help me create the most perfect fusion. I can’t use my own hands for it, they would burn quite easily so they are made out of a very heat resistant metal. Not to mention, I would be controlling them with my own mind.” He explained, standing next to Ailani.
“Hm…. I would hope they don’t corrupt you but I already know you’ve made the necessary precautions for that.” Ailani smiled, turning her head to look at Otto. She always trusted him. Every school experiment they did had their dangers but Otto always knew what to do to stop it if it ever came to that. And sometimes it did.
They stared at each other for a little while, Peter not quite knowing what to do but at the same time he was happy they were together again. When Ailani first left, she would talk to Peter for hours about how much she missed Otto. Eventually, calls about Otto stopped but Peter could tell it was buried deep somewhere.
Now, it was wide open. Ready for the Doctor to see.

Are We Still Friends?
Pairing: Peter Parker x bsf!reader
Synopsis: (3.5k wc) After being rejected by the only person that matters, Y/n struggles to come to terms with no longer having a best friend.
Warnings: fluff, hurt/comfort, friends to lovers, mutual pining
masterlist
Ayo, did someone ask for a slightly depressing Peter Parker fic? Anyways, this fic is somewhat inspired by the song Are We Still Friends by Tyler the Creator <3
Every Friday of the summer, the residents of Forest Hills would stop whatever they were doing for one big barbecue. Fire hydrants were opened for the kids to play as the adults cooked whatever meat the butcher had given them that week. It was pure bliss.
Y/n always looked forward to these Fridays during the summer. Even when the sun was beating down hard on the asphalt, the community gathered to have a great time. She spent almost every barbecue this year with her best friend and neighbor Peter Parker. The two had been close friends ever since he had moved in with his aunt and uncle as a little boy.
They were inseparable from the moment they met, playing together, going to school, club activities; you name it, they did it. Their favorite hang-out spot, which hadn’t changed since they were little, was the fire escape. Y/n's apartment was only two over from Peter’s which meant they shared a fire escape overlooking the street below.
It was the perfect getaway for whatever life threw at them. Shitty birthdays, a breath of fresh air, when uncles pass away…it was the remedy for everything. It also happened to be a great spot to watch the barbecue festivities below.
On this particular Friday, Y/n sat atop the stairs, letting her legs dangle down below as her best friend settled into sitting next to her. She felt her heart leap as their shoulders collided, hoping that what she was about to tell him wouldn’t change this.
“If I have to hear Mrs. Duval talk about her skiing trip one more time I might just run away,” Peter said, adjusting his position on the stairs.
Y/n laughed and said, “Give her a break she has dementia!”
“Dementia or not I’m running away and I’m taking you with me.”
She watched as he stared off the fire escape, looking at the neighborhood below. He didn’t know how much that meant to her. A little joke about running off together and she felt herself being swept off her feet.
“Hey Pete?”
He turned to her with a smile.”Yeah?”
“Can I talk to you about something?” She rubbed her hands together, hoping that clammy feeling would go away.
Turning his body to face her more, his expression getting a little more serious he joked, “Oh no am I being called into the principles office?”
Y/n chuckled. “No uh…I just wanted to…” She trailed off, not knowing how she was going to confess.
“Is everything okay?”
“Y-yeah I just. Over the past couple months,” she began. “I just loved hanging out with you.”
She watched him smile, he cheeks getting slightly red. That was a good sign right? “Yeah I love hanging out with you too.”
“And like, we’ve been friends almost our entire lives so it feels silly that I’m only realizing this now but, I… I like you Peter. As more than a friend.”
Slowly looking up, she saw what she feared the most. The color had drained from Peter’s face, his eyes darting everywhere but at her. He shifted back slightly, adjusting himself a few inches away from her.
“Oh…” he said, unable to think properly. “I’m not sure what to say to that, Y/n…”
What had she done? Why did she think this was a good idea?
“I’m sorry,” she said quickly, swinging her legs around back into the stairs. “I thought you felt the same but clearly I was wrong.”
“Y/n I’m sorry wait-“
“No, it’s okay. I misread things. Bye Peter.”
She got up quickly, climbing back through her apartment window without looking back. His voice rang out as she moved further into her apartment but she chose to ignore it. She knew what he was going to say. I’m sorry it’s not you, it’s me. I just don’t like you that way. She didn’t need him to hurt her more in this moment than she already felt.
That was the last time she had spoken to Peter Parker.
The school year was finally beginning and even though they weren’t friends anymore, could you still call them friends? It didn’t matter, even though they weren’t talking anymore, Y/n's crush never went away.
Because of their lack of communication, she didn’t know what classes he had been given for the year and as she walked through the halls of her first day of junior year, she felt her heart leap with the chance that they might share a class.
Scanning the room, she felt relief when she saw MJ. That was one of the harder parts of not speaking to Peter, they still shared all of the same friends. MJ was thankfully alone, something that felt increasingly rare as time passed. Approaching her at the lockers, Y/n crossed her arms and leaned against them.
“Hey,” she said.
MJ looked up from her book bag with a smile. “Hey,” she responded. “You ready to be seniors?”
“Ugh, I don’t know, I’m really not looking forward to the AP Gov class.”
“Yeah, I heard Mr. Gonzales isn’t that great. But…”
As MJ went on about their next class, Y/n felt her mind drifting away. She felt so nervous coming back to school after everything that had happened that summer. Her eyes scanned the halls, students filing in for the day's first class.
That’s when she saw him. Peter stood at the other end of the hall, looking around before locking eyes with her. No, this is not where she would see him again. It was the first day of school and she didn’t want to deal with their situation. Without another word, she pulled MJ into the first empty classroom she could find.
“What are you doing?!” MJ exclaimed as Y/n shut the door behind her.
“I saw Peter and panicked,” she responded, taking a deep breath.
“You can’t keep avoiding him, Y/n. He’s your best friend.”
“Was,” she corrected. “I don’t think I could call him that after what happened.”
Y/n slumped down on the floor, wrapping her arms around her knees as she tucked them against her chest. Sighing, MJ got down on the floor, sitting next to her friend. There wasn’t much she could do right now. Emotions were still high and the best thing was to just let it happen.
“I know it hurts,” MJ began as Y/n leaned against her shoulder. “But eventually things will get better. Who knows, maybe you and Peter could still be friends after all this.”
“I don’t know if we could…I mean, I’ve liked him for so long and the way he dismissed me was like it was a joke. I knew that confessing to him would change our relationship but I was so sure that he liked me back I hoped that it would be for the better. I took a chance and I chose wrong; there’s no going back from it.”
MJ wrapped her arm around her friend as she shed a tear. “I know, I know…” she consoled her.
The first three periods of the day went surprisingly fine; once math class started it was hard to think of anything but the equations on the board. MJ wouldn’t be joining Y/n for lunch. She had to go to a meeting for journalism which was just starting back up again.
As Y/n sat alone at the lunch table, silently eating her sandwich, she felt standing at the table in front of her. When she looked up, her lunch suddenly didn’t seem that appetizing.
“Hey,” Peter began playing with the hem of his shirt. He pointing at the bench in front of him. “C-can I sit here?”
Y/n stared back up at him, not mouthing word, not even swallowing her sandwich bite. She watched as he sat down anyway, awkwardly shuffling in the seat. It was clear he hadn’t rehearsed this as the two sat in silence - she felt like he was starting into her soul. Her heart rate sped up and she knew what would become of her if she stayed.
Peter began to open his mouth. “Je-“
He didn’t even have time to mutter name before she bolted upright, hastily grabbing her lunch before scurrying aware, dodging and weaving between students. She spit out her sandwich in the nearest trash can as she gasped for a breath. Why did he have to speak to her? In school for that matter?
Peter Parker was going to be the death of her.
Even though only a week had gone by since the start of school, Y/n had an ungodly amount of homework to complete. She sat hunched over at her desk, the lamp being the only source of light as the sun set throughout her study session. One of her moms had come in earlier that day asking her if she wanted to go out for dinner but she had refused, opting to finish her school work for the evening instead.
So she sat at home, listening to the soft sounds of some lo-fi playlist she turned on as she struggled to complete an essay. A thud sounded loudly and Y/n looked up for only a minute, choosing to believe it was from the song she was listening to and went back to her work.
Soon, there was another thud, and then another. It was so loud and eruptive to becoming from the speakers. Thud! The sound rang out again. No, that wasn’t the song, it was coming from the fire escape.
Y/n got up from her desk, turning off the music before walking over and lifting up her window. She peered onto the fire escape and seeing nothing coming from the left, she turned to the right and couldn’t believe the sight before her.
Spider-Man was on her fire escape, clutching his side as he tried to open a window. No, that wasn’t Spider-Man, that was Peter. She gasped for a moment, trying to take it all in. Peter was Spider-Man? How and when? But most importantly, why didn’t he ever tell her?
He must’ve heard her small gasp because he twisted his head around, unsure of what was behind him. A little relief flashed in his eyes before he remember that he wasn’t standing in front of her as Peter, but the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
“Y/n, hey-“ he began.
She already begun to pull herself inside her room, not wanting to face him, especially with all this new information. “I should leave-“
“No!” he called out, watching her freeze in her window. Slowly she stuck her head back out. “Please don’t go just-“ he grunted, grabbing his side more. “Can you help me open the window?”
She could tell he was in pain, not from the amount of blood seeping onto the metal stairs beneath them but from the disgruntled look in his face. She hated that look. She had seen it plenty of times before. After a fight with Flash, tripping on the sidewalk and apparently being shot at. She could never turn him away with that look.
Without saying another word, she pulled herself full onto the fire escape, making her way over to help push his window open. She crawled in first, lending a hand for him to lean on as he jumped inside.Tossing his mask on his bed, he opted to lay on the floor, still gripping his side.
“Thanks,” he said, looking up and seeing no Y/n in sight.
She must’ve crawled back through his window because it was once again shut. Peter led his head fall back in a sigh. He needed to fix this but first, stitches.
It was finally the next day of school and Y/n was still freaking out from the night before. She didn’t get back to studying, how could she after finding out her best friend- neighbor was Spider-Man?
She silently walked to her locker, letting her head hang low as she continued to mull over everything she was feeling. Her first reaction was anger. Angry at him for not telling her of his secret life. Spider-Man had of course been around since before they stopped talking so why didn’t he tell her? Why did he tell his - at the time - best friend?
Then the realization hit her. She didn’t need to help him. She couldn’t left him on that fire escape to fend for himself. From the stuff she had seen on the tv of him she knew he had probably gone through worse. But she did help him and that realization, that no matter what state their relationship was in, she would running to his aid. That no matter what - she would always love him.
It’s a lot, to realize that you’re not just going through a phase of having a crush. And it’s so much worse when you hear said crush calling after you.
“Y/n!” Peter’s voice rang out through the halls.
Why did he always seek her out in school? Y/n didn’t even bother to look back as she bolted down the hall into the first empty class room. Pacing back and forth she tried to calm herself down. Everything that had happened in the past week was becoming too much for her. Maybe breathing excesses could help?
Before she could even take a deep breath, the classroom door bursted open, a very out of breath Peter Parker standing in its wake. As the door slowly closed behind him, he moved towards her.
“Hey-“ he began before getting cut off.
“What are you doing here Peter?” she asked in defeat. “Why did you follow me?”
Whatever confidence he had before this suddenly went away, leaving a stuttering boy in its place. He looked down at the ground, trying to form a sentence.
“S-sorry.. About last night…”
“Oh my god Peter, if you’re here because you think I’m gonna tell people?” she scoffed. “You know my lips are sealed.”
“T-thanks,” he muttered out, watching as she began to pace again in front of her. “Hey Y/n?”
“What?” she asked annoyed.
“Are we still friends?” She stopped, looking over at him as he lifted his head to look at her, his brown eyes starting straight into her own. “C-can we still be friends?”
Y/n sighed, opening her mouth but know words came out. Could they still be friends? That was such a loaded question when everything was still fresh, like a wound that hasn’t had time to heal.
“I-I don’t know, Peter,” she opted to tell him.
“I keep repeating that day over and over again in my mind and… everything went downhill so fast. We barely had time to talk-“
“-We didn’t have anything else to talk about,” she interrupted him. Glancing at the clock behind her, she realized what time it was. “I have to get to class,” she told him, walking past him.
She barely got the door open when he called out to her again. “Wait! Meet me on the fire escape? 9:30 tonight?”
What was she supposed to say to that? No, she didn’t have to agree to anything. “Goodbye, Peter.”
The whole day felt it went by in a flash and before Y/n knew it, she was back home studying again. Only this time, she hadn’t been able to focus. In fact, she hadn’t been able to focus all day.
She stared at the math homework in front of her, unable to even lift her pencil as there was a rapping at her window. Turning her head, she sighed knowing who was on the other side. Reluctantly, she opened it, letting him climb in. Moving to her bed, she watched as he awkwardly looked around like he hadn’t been in her room a million times before.
“You didn’t meet me at 9:30,” he said, a crack in his voice.
Turning she looked at her alarm clock. It was 11:00. Had she really been staring at her homework for hours?
She shrugged her shoulders. “I didn’t think we had anything else to say.”
“That’s not true we’re friends-“
Scoffing, she interrupted him. “Are we Peter? Are we still friends? I know you think so but it doesn’t feel that way to me.”
“Only because you won’t let us,” he tried with her, only to be met with the shake of her head.
“I don’t know how we could go back to being just friends. You broke my hear that day… I thought you liked me too and-“
“I did like you!” He interrupted her, his voice erupting like he had been shouting the whole time. Y/n looked at him in shock, feeling her blood boil by the second. “I still like you.”
That was her breaking point. Liked her? He liked her and let her go through all this bullshit? Quickly, she stood up.
“No!” she exclaimed.
“Y/n-“
“Don’t Y/n me! I confess my feelings to you, you tell me you don’t feel the same way and then turn around with this bullshit and expect me not to be mad? We haven’t even talked about the Spider-Man stuff yet.”
“Can you just let me explain?” he pleaded, making her look back up at him.
She could see the hurt in his face, like she had done more damage to him than Flash or a bullet could ever do. And when Peter’s hurting, no matter how much she’s upset with him, shell go running to his aid. With a huff she sat back down on her bed, ready to hear out a boy that probably didn’t deserve speak at all.
“I’ve been replaying that moment after the barbecue, every day in my head since it happened,” he began. “I had been waiting so long to hear you say those things. That the girl I liked finally liked me back. The little voice in my head was jumping with joy, itching to tell you I felt the same way. But then, this other little voice appeared taking over, it was Mr. Stark-“
Y/n scoffed. “Tony Stark?”
Peter nodded, pleading with his expression to let him finish. Not being able to resist, she let him.
“His voice was just, ringing through my head. Keep everything you care about at a distance, never let anyone get too close or you could lose it all. I-I didn’t want to lose you so I didn’t tell you about Spider-Man. And that was fine at first, only two other people knew about it - it was a secret I could keep.
But then you said all those things I desperately wanted to hear and I just wanted lean forward and kiss you and…Mr. Starks words echoed in my head. If I kissed you or told you I felt the same way. That meant telling you about Spider-Man and than meant a great possibility of me losing you.”
Y/n felt her heart break more than it already did, feeling a tear roll down her cheek as she watch Peter break down in front of her.
Soon, he continued. “Uncle Ben once told me that with great power comes great responsibility … and I didn’t want to have to choose you or my power because I would chose you every time.”
The room fell silent with his last words, Y/n trying to process everything he had told her. She wiped a tear from her cheeks, trying to compose herself.
“I understand if your still mad at me or don’t like me anymore but please,” Peter begged. “I just need my best friend back.”
Y/n shook her head, standing up to meet his eye line. “I don’t think we can ever just be friends, Peter.”
“What are you talking about?” he asked, watching her walk closer to him until she was standing just a foot away.
“You’re sure you still like me?”
“Yeah but-“
“Good,” she cut him off, grabbing both sides of his face and pulling him into a kiss.
She could feel how tense he was, surprised by her sudden action before melting into the kiss. It was slow and sweet, neither of them having much experience between the both of them. But that didn’t matter, there was time to improve. Right now, they just needed to know everything was going to be alright.
As she pulled away from the kiss, she felt as he rested his forehead onto hers, a smile forming on his face. She smiled back, happy to see that sad, hurt look leave.
“No more secrets, okay?” she asked.
“No more secrets,” he repeated. “So… more than friends?”
Y/n smiled wider than she thought was possible, pulling him back in for one more kick peck.
“More than friends,” she repeated.

Chapter 1
Master-List
Nothing was supposed to happen, it was just supposed to be a normal school field trip to Oscorp. At least that's what Y/N Stellan and Peter Parker thought, they had a plan. Go on a field trip, interview some scientist, and get some photos of the spider lab. But as luck would have it that wasn’t the case, somehow by some chance of fate Peter and Y/N were now locked in the lab.
“Harry, open the door!” Y/N yelled bangning on the door,
“I’m trying! It's jammed” Harry yelled back “I wanna try something just wait here” he yelled, as if they could go anywhere else.
Y/N threw her arms in the air in defeat, turning to look at Peter. “What are the odds, something nice happens to us for the school paper and we get stuck in a spider lab” Y/N shivered at the thought.
Peter chuckled, shaking his head “What's the matter Y/N I thought you liked science?”
“I like normal science Peter, not animal science.” She tilted her head as she answered.
“While we’re here we might as well get some photos, unless you’re too grossed out by it all” Peter hummed taking a few photos of the lab around them
“Yeah I’d rather not, but thanks for the offer Peter.” she shook her head.
The two stood in the room for a few more moments before Peter broke the silence “Ow” he dropped his camera shaking his hand
“Peter! Are you okay?!” Y/N rushed over to him taking her hand in his, failing to realise the spider that had creeped onto the back of her neck. It wasn’t until she felt the sting of its bite did the two of them realise what had truly happened. Looking to each other not knowing what to do before Peter spoke up “Non, venomous. Or poisonous, the spider that's what the scientist said in the interview, non of them are dangerous.” Y/N just stared at Peter nodding along to what he was saying.
It was only a few more moments before Harry finally opened the door back up to let the two of them out.
“I hope you both weren’t waiting too long for me.” Y/N just pushed her way past Harry and to the exit not knowing what else to do. Peter approached Harry watching Y/N exit, Harry turned to Peter placing a hand on his shoulder “So, did anything happen?” he wiggled his eyebrows at his friend as Peter scoffed
“you thought the best way for me to get Y/N was to lock us in the spider lab together?!”
“Well yeah, she hates spiders, snuggles up to you for comfort which you provide then you kiss her” Harry exclaimed, shaking his head Peter made his way to the exit following Y/N to make sure nothing happened, and seeing as they were neighbors it just made sense. As Peter left Harry called out “What, like you had any other ideas Parker!”
