3. Fav line/scene I wrote this year

OUgh!!! Which one...some of my fav scenes are not yet posted (one of which I shared with you the other day!) But of the ones posted....fav scene I think is the end of Float, with Shigeo laughing and getting chocolate milk up his nose hehe

Fav line probably is this one from Blackhole:

"Galaxies in his chest, pulsating outwards from his ribs, white bone shining marigold, like sunflowers—vessel breaking, reforming vessel unraveling, reforming vessel exploding reforming dead-black-dead-blackhole space in his heart.

I just was so happy with the intensity of that fic.

Dude you know who it is hahaha Shigeo 1000% is my favorite character to write. BUT I gotta give props to Shou on his bday, writing him so far in Black Sweatshirt has been SO FUN. I am excited to write him more.

14. a fic you didn't expect to write

Kinda all of them? Heh. The intensity of writing again hit me like a god damn freight train.

I am not kidding when I say I haven't written a single word of fiction in the last 8 years until July. I read some fanfics here and there (like I got into a few gravity falls fanfics, still YGO, a little dr. who) but. But nothing like this.

Black Sweatshirt is the biggest surprise. I expected to write a few one shots and that would be it. I'd be done, move on, read some fics and just kinda...do my real life thing again

And then I kept reading

And kept writing

And started to talk about my ideas

I gotta give it Toasty (heeeeeeey toasty haha). I have already spammed you with all this but yeah, your post-cannon terumob fics. I am not sure if it was the place i was in in life or what but like I read them. And then my brain did the "Oh boy we're connecting dots in here!" And I think I stared at a wall for days.

Same thing happened when I first read Nightjar hahah so again, god damn I am so excited to read more of that fic (and love that I can get little teasers now hehehe so exciting)

VERY long read. Main character is child Teru. An AU in which Teru met Mob and Ritsu before the incident where Ritsu got hurt. Story really gets across the evil of Claw with them kidnapping kids and harassing the few who keep getting away from them. Story also shows Teru's shitty neglectful parents and Dad!Reigen. Teru goes through the ringer in this fic. Fic takes place over the course of 2 - 3 years.

In general this writer has a lot of great Mob Psycho writing. They write a lot about Teru and TeruMob. Also I really like their take on the Kageyama parents. We may not see much of those parents in cannon but it's clear they do care about their kids. Toasty does a great job on using them as actual characters.

Immoral Support by c_c_cherry

Teru lives alone, and has been living alone for awhile. He's given money from his parents but that's it. He knows how to fake signatures but now the school is demanding to see a guardian in-person. Teru not knowing what to do, pretends that Reigen is his guardian, things go on from there.

The Ties were Black, The Lies were White by generally

There is some sex in this story, fyi. Basically Reigen is going to his sister's wedding and can bring a plus-one. Serizawa wants to go with him. They decide to go as "business partners". They do things such as sharing a bed and dancing as "business partners". Of course they realize their feelings for each other and confess. The sex scene is a bit after that.

A short two chapter story about Reigen walking Mob home after work. First chapter: Mob feel asleep and Reigen gives him a piggy back ride to Mob's house. 2nd chapter: Reigen is asleep and Mob gets Dimple to posses him so he can still walk Mob home without actually waking him up.

Reigen's got some mommy issues. His mom dies and starts haunting him. The espers in Reigen's life don't want to get rid of her without Reigen's permission but she's really messing him up and he just wants to get some approval from her. Story is a bit depressing but very good.

Reigen gets possessed and gets sick. Unreliable narrator Reigen. Don't worry, the spirit gets caught pretty quickly, and Reigen ends up fine.

A very short fic about Reigen quitting smoking for Mob's sake. Very cute.

A 5 + 1 fic. 5 Times Mob hugged Reigen and 1 time Reigen hugged Mob. 1: Little Mob asking for advise about nightmares. 2: Mob being hurt after the Teru fight. 3: Mob holding onto Reigen to float them both back home after the first Claw arc. 4: After the Mogami arc. 5: After separation arc. +1: Reigen hugging Mob after digging him out of the broccoli after 2nd Claw arc.

As it turns out, Reigen actually IS an esper. He's an empath, and that comes with being able to read and manipulate others emotions. He did not know he was doing that. He just thought he was REALLY good at reading people and convincing them. Serizawa figures it out and tells him. The first story is about Serizawa figuring out Reigen is an empath, the 2nd story is about what Reigen does after knowing he's an empth, that is trying to figure out how to get rid of a spirit on his own.

Reigen gets possessed by a spirit that hates espers. He's stuck in the backseat of his body while it pilots him around, pretending to be him. It's an ass towards Serizawa and Mob. Of course the other characters figure out something is wrong.

Area Hysteria by c_c_cherry

Reigen and Dimple visit a worn down building slated for demolition to get rid of a spirit. The building collapses with them in it. Dimple is fine, Reigen isn't. Dimple posses Reigen's body to help keep him alive and hope for rescue soon. Reigen gets rescued... eventually. But this isn't the end to the problems because Reigen ends up in sort of supernaturally-induced coma that Mob has to get into his head to get him out of. Long story. Marked as unfinished but ends at a really good stopping point. (Update: It started updating again)

Haunting My Own Skin by Kirii_Kitten

Reigen dies and then posses his own corpse to pretend that everything is normal. Dimple is concerned that Reigen's spirit is going to corrupt, his fears are well-founded. Reigen gets found out of course and things go to shit, but there is a happy ending.

symbiosis by ruthwrites

AU in which ???% is a separate entity from Mob and it's made of energy and jumps from esper to esper. When Mob gives Reigen his power during the 1st Claw arc, ???% goes with that energy. Problem is that it didn't go back to Mob, it got stuck in Reigen. I recommend the whole series, the series is kind of depressing though. Reigen really goes through it in this series. I don't want to give too much away but... Reigen isn't gonna come out of this very... human. Each entry in the series is completed, however I can't help but feel the series itself isn't completed, it seems to end on what would be the start of this AUs version of the Separation Arc. It's a bitter ending.

Takes place during and after hot springs OVA. Shows Reigen's experience in the parallel dimension. On the train ride home, Reigen has a panic attack and runs off to the bathroom, Serizawa helps him and realizes that Reigen was in that dimension for awhile. Serizawa goes back home with Reigen to make sure that when he wakes up he won't be alone again. They eat breakfast together and talk about what happened.

Turns out Reigen is a kitsune. He did not know he was a kitsune. He's in denial at first what with these traits only appearing now as a 30-ish year old. But even when he accepts the truth, he can't bring himself to tell the others besides Dimple (who he knows can keep a secret). His kitsune traits include being able to turn into a fox, having a silver orb that's a physical manifestation of his soul that he has to protect, and also a new found fear of dogs. Fic is unfinished but has a very unique idea. I only found a few other stories that had Kitsune!Reigen but in the other ones I saw he already knew he was a fox.

Maybe it was that summer break had only just started and Teru was already bored to death. Maybe it was that it always felt a little special when Reigen asked him to help with a case. Whatever it was that made Teru ignore the funny feeling in his chest and agree, he regretted it.

If you want a G rated horror story with a sprinkling of comfort, this is the fic for you! A case fic featuring Teru and Reigen as they embark into the woods, only to… well, I’ll let you find out (here I go to read this for the billionth time it’s PERFECT SPOOKY FIC).

I’m so obsessed with not only this story, but also the TYPESETTING! It’s such a creative piece and really leans into the horror genre well.

Tome and Mob take some well deserved time off from Spirits & Such, only to be caught in the web of an evil spirit.

I crave more Tome and Mob friendship fics and this one sates that hunger (AND it’s got some spooky possession scenes yessssss).

A routine meeting with a client draws Reigen and Serizawa into a dangerous situation—one Reigen can’t help but make worse.

(Can you tell I love fend’s art yet? Lol) A SeriRei case fic turned horror as the two are forced to confront buried feelings and work together to escape a spirit more powerful than either of them realized.

Hiding His Horns (Multi Chapter; 145k)

Teruki Hanazawa, a modern witch and a promising new exorcist wants his childhood hero Reigen Arataka to become his personal mentor and teacher. Too bad Reigen already has a student, and that student, Teruki finds out, is a dangerous demon using the man’s softer side to its advantage.

Brought to you by the author of “The Sword of Damocles” and “Tunnel Vision”, the TeruMob author themself has brought us this fantastic Demon!Mob and Witch!Teru AU (and it’s from Teru’s POV YAY). If you’re not into the romance aspect, although TeruMob is tagged, it’s much more plot heavy than romance oriented. Do heed the tags on this one though. Later chapters can get pretty dark.

The Paper Moon (Multi Chapter: 110k)

It wasn't the rain, or the car, or even dying that ruined his day. The worst was when he woke up, and everything that happened after.

A great, terrifying MP100 horror novel that I BLASTED through in one day (oh my GOD It had me on the edge of my seat, biting into my sweater, screaming into my pillow). HEED THE TAGS! ESPECIALLY in later chapters. It can get into… slight Danny phantom horror territory.

He might actually be able to make some friends if he saw other kids outside of school. Except the kids around here were all kind of mean to him... So what if he ventured a little further? In which Teru meets Shigeo before his life falls apart and accidentally drags the entire Kageyama family plus one self proclaimed psychic down with him when it does.

1. Issho - Reigen and Teru dynamics, hurt/comfort, god they're so sweet, it does contain violence and triggering themes (has warnings dw), BUT IT'S THE BEST OK

2. What we Make - Reigen and Tome dynamic, hurt/comfort, also has violence and appropriate warnings, i really like this one

3. The Joy of Cooking (for a Family You Didn't Know You Had) - Reigen and all his esper kids, THIS IS SO WARM AND SWEET, WHY HAVE I NOT SEEN A RECOMMENDATION BEFORE

4. The sun in the summertime - more Reigen and his esper kids, also sweet and warm

5. Domestic - this one's from the Attic au (if you've read abot you might be familiar), hurt/comfort, it's definitely sweet and incredible honestly, but also it does have a lot of triggers, proceed carefully. Personally I love this series so very much

6. Curses and Such - this is found family (in a way ig?), SnS trio and shenanigans, They're at the point where Tome, Serizawa and Ekubo are just used to Reigen's nonsense

Tunnel Vision - THIS IS THE TERUMOB OF ALL TIME

ToastyToaster22 fics, Issho in particular - entire catalogue is whumpy as FUCK but mostly exist as a sort of deranged childcare catharsis. Fics you read if you have a lot of intense opinions about foster care. Very slowburn. Probably the densest prose so you may bounce off them

Ruthwrites fics - huge slant towards horror, but there's so many options here. But all the Void Between My Teeth series and Knife Trick are my favs for similar reasons (im going to throw up so hard dog). Wrote an excellent Mob Dies series (Our Endless Numbered Days) that was a wonderful expression of grief but made me cry so hard I can't ever read it again. My absolute favourite author in this fandom of ALL time if you wanna read something fucked up start here

I’ve had this Tumblr for a molten minute and originally it was a Pokemon themed blog before I deleted my side blogs (a choice I regret every day). The Pocket in my user came from “Pocket Monsters” and the HEP was just tagged on because a lot of pocket monster themes names weren't available but younger me wanted to be open to having a blog that wasn't just 1 thing.

Now for the fics…

These are in no order whatsoever. This is based purely on fanfics that I love that no matter what I keep going back to, there are honestly a lot I could put especially if I think harder but its late and I'm typing on my phone.

Yesterday Upon The Stair by PitViperOfDoom on AO3. (My Hero Academia)

Genuinely an amazing fanfic, probably the best BNHA fanfic I’ve ever read which is a strong title to hold. It even has its own TV Tropes Page. It was Published in 2016 and I read it religiously. It had it all, Queerplatonic relationships, Drama, Angst, heartwarming moments, and realistic character depictions. It’s one of those fanfics that most people in the fandom know as “One of the Big Ones”.

A Breach of Trust by Phantomrose96 on AO3 (Mob Psycho 100)

Another “One of the Big Ones” and another fanfic that I’ve been following since it was published way back in 2016 (a wonder how 2016 had a lot of really great fanfics just like how a lot of good writing came from the quarantine). This is such a good fanfic, that really expands past the base content of the manga/anime and has a well fleshed out world as well as characters. It’s a drama that has a good dose of angst and I love the way the relationship between Mob and Reigen develops.

Issho by ToastyToaster22 on AO3 (Mob Psycho 100)

Normally I’d try to keep it one to a fandom with these types of lists/asks but Issho was really good. Once again has the bonus of being a fanfic from one of my favorite anime/manga. But it highlights one of my favorite characters, Teru, in a way that develops him very well over the course of the series. Issho is just the first of ten parts and I'd recommend reading all of them.

Salvage by MuffinLance on AO3 (Avatar the Last Airbender)

One of my comfort ATLA fanfics. A great amount of humor, angst, and a lot of found family. I absolutely adore Hakodad pics and Zuko honestly deserves it but Salvage has the plus of adding more additional siblings and a cute isopuppy because Zuko really deserves it.

fool in the moon by arahir on Ao3 (Trigun)

Despite having read the Trimax manga and having seen the original Trigun anime, I didn’t actually start reading fan fiction for it until Trigun Stampede paraded through…And BOY was I missing out. Although fool in the moon is a recent addition to the roster of amazing pics, it’s up there as one of my favorite. It’s a vashwood fic with a healthy dose of angst and comfort. I don’t know what it is but Trigun writers all have the ability to write the most visceral things.

One of the most cleverly written fics not just on this list but that I’ve read. I can’t recommend it enough, even to those that don’t ship satosugu. This is a hurt no comfort fic and the way my stomach sunk reading the date for one of the last messages is a feeling few people can replicate. It’s good all around. 11/10

Those Hands Were Meant To Love by Ahenix on Ao3 (Spy X Family)

I think this is one of the big fics for Spy X Family and for a reason. It’s fluff without plot, and I love a good bit of found family and fluff especially centered around my favorite “fake” family. I read this one a couple times last year because it’s cute and its only 6 chapters.

Cascading (In a good way) by Hubbleablubble on Ao3 (Genshin)

There are a lot of well written genshin fics but this one is my favorite both for the ship (Kaebedo) and that I enjoy the way the characters are written. I like how everyone was written in this. Although it’s only a chapter the pacing was great, especially as it told their story from strangers to friends to lovers. It also mentioned Khaenri’ah Royalty Kaeya which is a huge plus.

Starstruck by shizuoh on Ao3 (Yuri on Ice)

All that needs to be said is that the author basically created the Actor Victor Nikiforov tag on ao3. It’s a fic that’s been there since around 2016 when the show debuted and it hasn’t left my favorites for a while alongside a lot of others. Featuring the aforementioned actor Viktor, a barista/babysitter yuuri, and Yuri as a child caught up between the two. There are a lot of great’s and this is one of them.

(HONORABLE MENTIONS: There are a lot of Yuri on Ice fics I could have put here so…Until My Feet Bleed and My Heart aches by Reiya (The Biggest Diamond among the rest of the diamonds), crust and sugar over by ShanaStoryteller, Where the Cliff Greets the Sea)

Academic Intrigue by kassvea on Ao3 (Word of Honor)

It’s a modern AU, college/university AU with well written characters that are true to the original source. It’s a story about starting over, especially given the scandal at the start of the fic. I love the connection between Zhou Zishu and Wen Kexing in all forms of media but this is one of my favorites.

Teru has a complicated relationship with his mom, as one does, confusing feelings, he wants to be protected but he doesn't want to leave with her, he wants someone to take care of him but he doesn't remember what its like to be taken care by other people
