I know I dont post a lot of my own stuff on here, but I just finished redoing one of my terrariums and wanted to share. I recarved the foam background, regooped the silicone & substrate on the walls, and added a bunch of new plants. I really hope the moss takes off this time, I haven't had great luck with it in the past. I'm trying to be more strict about watering every day. Maybe I'll look into a stronger light too. It's a 18x18x24 so the light might not be strong enough to get to the ground level. This is set up for one of my cresties but I'm going to give it a month or so to let the plants settle in and get established before adding the gecko.

I'd, really rather not put Nightmare through that. aside from it seeming to hurt like hell... he's already been degooped and regooped so many times, and I just can't... stand, willingly putting him through that. *a sigh, and a humorless sound of humor.* maybe another reason too. very, similar to the same kind of reason I'd hesitate to use the m!a on you. ... ... sorry, I know that sounds, pretty lousy to say.

OKAY OKAY OKAY So this came to me MONTHS ago, like sometime late last year, and I just... Never got around to talking about it.

The moonstone should have followed the plant theme that the Sundrop had, and since I am fine tuned in the art of shredding canon and Rebuilding, I decided to make an AU about it.

The Sundrop takes the shape of a flower, and a life giving one at that. In the spirit of keeping up the opposites sort of vibe, I thought... Why can’t the Moonstone (Moondrop? Moonseed? in this case) be a plant as well, but something more dangerous-- Like a parasitic sort of plant!

I chose mistletoe, since aesthetically I think it fits the sort of ‘drop’ look. Of course, with it being a magical parasitic plant with the power of Super Mega Rot and Death and Destruction (ala canon), it makes sense for it to act sort of like a weed. Slowly choking out any surrounding life, rendering the area it fell into more and more infertile until it becomes a wasteland.

For THAT purpose, the once Very Green Dark Kingdom is built moreso around plants, with the castle itself being part of a giant tree-- Sort of combining the Great Tree with the DK for this purpose. The kingdom was already there, and absolutely ANCIENT.

They absolutely pull the whole shtick of keeping this magical artifact away from the world for protection, BUT they can only contain it for so long, since it’s slowly draining the life out of the land around them. By the time Edmund takes charge, a once green and fertile kingdom has become a wasteland, and there’s nothing left.

ALSO, if we want to keep the Spooky Pointy Objects of Death thing that the Moonstone had going for it, this parasitic plant form, on account of being magic, has gnarly briars. It can go search for the Sundrop THAT WAY, sort of similar to a root system... Just. Pointy.

They could also, arguably, instead of being unbreakable, simply grow back too fast to be stopped. If you cut them, they come back 3 times worse. You could argue that Rapunzel’s hair works the same way! NO HAIR CUT FOR HER, it’ll just grow back! But, the occasional snipsnip could cause an inconvenience here and there for Drama’s Sake

In terms of the amber, given that we have a more organic approach, it would probably mesh a little better with the plant theme. Ir probably just reforms/regoops(?) instead of being indestructible, and Varian just doesn’t have any physically possible means of getting his father out-- And the added thorns don’t help.

In terms of Zhan Tiri and Demanitus, since the lore bungled them up real bad and they made NO sense: They’re both from the DK, possibly with ties to the brotherhood or the royal family itself, giving them both a harder connection to the Moon side of things. They DO believe in the sundrop’s existence, but can’t prove it, and they, with the disciples, go searching for its theoretical match. They do, in fact, find it! And it’s only after all their research that ZT and the disciples get greedy. Gothel dips to save her own skin, the others get their whole bein’ locked away and transformed into Not So Human fates. Demanny is injured, may or may not Kick the Bucket. Gothel has the sundrop to herself.

Cue Movie events.

Obvs this is just a rough idea, since again, it’s been MONTHS since I had this initially planned out and I’m sure I forgot some stuff, but I think it’d gel pretty well-- At least aesthetically and thematically.

Also the Moon colors are silver and white instead of bright ass blue, thanks for coming to my ted talk

Actually this all reminds me of the AU i had where the moonstone was totally different-- I meant to do a post on it but never did and now I wanna go back to that
