For some Toa, their destiny is nice and clear. For the Toa ‘Io, it … isn’t. The ‘Io Archipelago was in the middle of a Visorak invasion, yes, and they repelled it, but the Toa ‘Io still feel like there’s something else in store for them. The Toa ‘Io barely knew each other when they began, and they still don’t understand why the Toa Suva spontaneously granted them elemental powers, apart from them all being in the Suva while the archipelago was in crisis. Doing their duty has led them to some unity, but has yet to lead to their destiny.
Toa Balka was a teacher for young Po-Matoran. She espoused caution over speed, leading to some degree of friction with the rest of her village; she’d come to the Suva for spiritual guidance on how best to maintain her integrity. She took the most to being a Toa, filled with idealism and hope and reveling in her abilities. She wears a Kanohi Volitak, the Mask of Stealth (and specially-designed stealth armor to accompany it), and carries twin spider claws and a rock flinger; she uses her powers in a primarily constructive manner, creating walls, mazes, deadfalls, and difficult terrain.
Toa Savma was a Ta-Matoran mining engineer, no-nonsense in the lava tunnels and a relentless prankster topside; she’d been called to do repairs on the Suva and didn’t really have that much interest in legendry. She considers being a Toa as just another job that she’s going to do to the best of her ability. She wears a Kanohi Perditak, the Mask of Ruin, which causes malfunctions and breaks in tools and constructions, and carries a fire pick and a hydrogen launcher; she uses her powers mostly for defensive flame walls and weapon augmentation.
Toa Vaman was a famous big game hunter among the Ga-Matoran, dramatic and self-important; she’d traveled to the Suva to research beasts of legend. Responsibility has softened her ego somewhat, but she’s still very much the thespian. She wears a Kanohi Archel, the Mask of Endurance, which allows the user to harden their armor against incredible pressures, and carries a pulse pincer and a Rhotuka shield; she uses her powers largely to create spectacular moving water constructs.
Toa Grex was a brave and devoted airwoman in the Le-Matoran Guard who was bitten by a Visorak, and traveled to the Toa Suva to attempt to reverse the effects of the Hordika venom. As the only professional combatant, the others asked her to take the leadership of the team; she fears her ability to do so as a Hordika, but loves her newfound strength and  ability to defend others. She wears a Kanohi Botues, the Mask of Herding, which allows the user to maintain a mental link between their allies, and carries a Rhotuka shield; her spiny wing blades are part of her form. She uses her powers very strategically, moving enemies and allies about with funnels of wind.
Toa Tiro is the youngest of the Toa ‘Io; she was a cheerful Onu-Matoran musician who’d come to the Suva seeking artistic inspiration outside pitface shanties. She’s learning responsibility, but still is unused to the idea of serious heroism. She wears a Kanohi Kadin, the Mask of Flight, and carries a Cordak blaster; her claws are part of her form. She uses her powers mostly destructively, flinging earth blasts about with abandon.
Toa Desna was a Ko-Matoran icecarver in the Pale Wastes, and found all their Great Kanohi frozen in the glacier she was working on, and came to the Toa Suva seeking answers. She is the most dedicated to discovering their destiny, and treats being a Toa as a means to that end. She wears a Kanohi Matatu, the Mask of Telekinesis, and carries an iceripper, modified to expel its blade-heating-water reservoir to freeze; she prefers to use her powers for mobility, creating ice slides and towers.
So I finally got around to posting my Bionicle OCs! Sorry about the poor quality, I only have my shitty old phone camera to work with. Anyway, they’re all wonderful and they’re all gay and now that I’ve actually made my own all-female Toa team I don’t want to hear anyone telling me I can’t talk about how terrible it was that fewer than one in six Bionicles were girls.
