"...oh, doctor Lucianna! I have to admit, for as long as I've been working here and trust me, I've spent majority of my life here, I never saw anyone else as talented and dedicated as Lucien. Despite their own issues with health, they continue helping other patients and fighting tirelessly for those letting out their last breaths... I still fail to understand why do you think they are related to those disappearances. Our Lucien is a good soul, they wouldn't hurt a fly. Wasn't that man a criminal either way? I get that it's your responsibility take care of this, but isn't it better that that man is gone?"
━ ISABEL, head surgeon, about LUCIANNA
NAME: LUCIANNA, also known as LUCIEN or LUCIE. RARITY: 5 STAR COMBAT TYPE: QUANTUM PATH: ABUNDANCE USUALLY RESIDES IN: PENACONY
IMPORTANT: lucianna is non-binary and uses they/them! i personally call them by lucie but lucien and lucianna are also a-okay. they usually introduce themselves as lucien though. also both fem and masc terms are okay !! everything's written in more general language than trying to pull out my writing braincells cuz i have none for now </3 but... for sure i will write write something with them at one point.
GENERAL NOTES: Although Lucie usually resides in Penacony, the hospital they work at is on completely different planet. They tend to travel a lot because of that, one day chilling among luxuries of the Penacony's Golden Hour, the next day rushing to a hospital for a sudden emergency! It can be tiring sometimes, truly. But Penacony gives them enough time to rest before another week spent working on sick or dying patients. There's something else they do between their job, though...
(tws for: human experimentation, medical malpractice, cults and (mass) murder in lucie's backstory. feel free to skip that part !!)
BACKSTORY: There's thing thing, you see. Lucie from always was a rather sick child, struggling with their health and at one point things got so bad, that Lucie truly believed the end was near. With no money to afford proper medicine, only thing left was pray for a miracle, and yet what Lucie got was a curse under the guise of one.
Because they were young and desperate to live, when a mysterious doctor offered them medicine that could save them they instantly agreed, unaware how big the pay would be for their life.
That doctor turned out to be a part of a group of abundance followers, that in the name of Yaoshi would perform... rather questionable medical experiments, be it on medicine, be it on other human livings and Lucie, not wanting to lose their only source of medicine, forced themselves to join the group and assist them in whatever experiments they were doing, even if it included hurting other people.
Luckily, with time Lucie managed to learn how to brew their own medicine– alongside with more general knowledge regarding medicine, which allowed them to run away from that terrible group of people, self-called followers of Yaoshi yet filthy liars in reality. But not without a revenge, no.
To this day people wonder who– or what killed that group one by one, everyone dropping dead like some flies... Lucie wouldn't know. They are happy to be the only survivor and to be finally free.
After that, Lucie started expanding their medical knowledge– turns out that when you don't have to literally torture people with poisons and dangerous surgeries, medicine is quite interesting! And that was how Lucie ended up working in a hospital, slowly climbing their way up, soon becoming one of the best doctors out there. They genuinely care about their patients, always willing to stay up nights and weeks to ensure that someone survives.
That doesn't mean Lucie completely let their past away, no. They spent years in that... weird group, among these people using an aeon to commit atrocities on often innocent people. And Lucie, as much as they wouldn't want to admit to that, a big chunk of their knowledge learned from all these experiments and dangerous researches they were forced to either witness or lead. It was unethical and terrible, but...
That dangerous side of medicine, it was an interesting one– and if researched in proper surroundings, the results could benefit everyone! From finding out new poison antidotes, to learning about toxins, how human's body functions and so, so many others...
Please, if you ever hear screaming coming from the lower levels of the hospital, don't mind it. You didn't hear it and doctor Lucianna is busy, so it's best you wait here and don't go bothering them. You wanted to talk about that criminal who just... suddenly disappeared, right? A nice chat won't hurt anyone.
MISCELLANEOUS:
━ Lucie is a cane user. They use a cane majority of the time, even in Penacony, but they don't need it always. Some days are better, some days are worse. Nonetheless, they keep it around all the time because their cane, in reality, is also a concealed blade. Great to defense!
━ Despite what one might think, they genuinely are a nice, sweet person, always willing to help, sometimes they even appear quite naive and stupid but don't believe it, Lucie is far away from being a little, naive sweetheart. Although, that attitude stays even when they are experimenting on someone... it's unsettling, sometimes.
━Their work schedule is chiller than a normal doctor's though. They are allowed to have more free time and they don't have to be at the hospital all the time. It's because their health is already quite poor and they tend to overwork themselves, so they more time to rest, to be able to perform their duties.
━ Close with Aventurine, their relationship is... interesting to say the least. For sure Lucie is his little lucky charm (meaning, more of a bodyguard and someone to bother while gambling all his money away) but they also are his sound of reason, always complaining at him to stop gambling so much, you're going to do something stupid and finally lose a game and, please, stop spending so much on me, I have no ways of paying you back anymore...
━ They enjoy researching on medicine, toxins, antidotes and poisons a lot. Genuinely they do. It's an interesting topic and they are quite good at that! Lucie did, in fact, made their own medicine after all...
━ Their post attack animation is literally them spinning their cane on the back of their hand. It's a little extra. A little fancy.
A/N NOTES: ueue. it is a little rough YES but im currently going through a writer block so dont mind the roughness HAHAHA im gonna... add more stuff one day. lucie's still kind of a wip so that too. anywyahashagsh introductions done!! voicelines next. also, have a lucie picrew as i struggle with their outfit and full design </3 have a great day everyone my back HURTS also i decided to not describe their personality just yet... because i dont like doing that. yeah im really gonna give u guys more lucie lore WHEN IM DONE WORKING ON THEM ok bye fr

feedback would be appreciated!
It had been a week ever since Joel had found out what you were, it had been a week since he had left you alone at the beach and you had avoided Joel as much as you could, the man did end up securing the cold almost that the entirety of Jackson seized to have which had commenced the townsfolk to be checked up in the hospital, it was demanded by Maria, she had people to take care of and some of those people had jobs to do, the main one was having to patrol out of Jackson.
You had currently sat on one of the hospital beds in one of the hospital rooms. The hospital was made out of wood but was quite secure, the hospital had some supplies that were good enough to help with the cold that had spread. You were aided by one of the new doctors, Shiloh, he had arrived to Jackson during the beginning of last week and he had been referred to work in the hospital the moment after he foretold his skill of a doctor.
He had worked under Alex Vaughn; the main doctor of the hospital and it was verily Alex who had introduced Shiloh to you, ere he had removed himself from the circumstance and aided another client. You and Shiloh had greeted each other, and you had awkwardly sat on the bed you were directed to. You had looked around the room you were in and lightly kicked your feet that had slightly touched the ground.
“Almost everyone has got the flu, but I’m sure it’ll pass by the end of this week if everyone follows the rules we give,” he spoke, he had sat on a small chair slightly in front of you, he had directly investigated you, had checked your temperature levels and your ears, had asked you to show him your tongue and you had obeyed every task without complaint. “You seem okay,” he carefully muttered and you hadn’t responded but slowly sat up on the hospital cot, “I was told that you were with Joel during the storm and that’s how he was able to get the flu,” you had looked at him, surprised that someone had informed him with that piece of information.
“I was also told that you were in the storm longer than Joel, and nothing’s happened, no runny nose, no nothing,” it had seemed like he had said it to himself with how low he had muttered.
“Who told you?” You curiously inquired, you had gently pulled yourself away from him, sombre and deliberate for him to answer you.
He had recorded the pokerfaced expression you had on and gingerly looked at you. “Don’t worry, it was Tommy.”
Relaxed, you had released your tensed shoulders and allowed Shiloh to continue his examining duty. “You have a swimmer’s build,” he lightly commented, and he was correct, your body was slightly toned, you had light toned abs, lats and triceps, your triceps were more toned than the rest, and it had fit your entire appearance, and it was needed for this time of life.
“I’ve been told you’re a fisher,” Shiloh informed, “and how you bring all types of fish.”
You had awkwardly smiled at his comment, there could be no word to explain how much you had wanted to leave the hospital, but you had to be patient. “Yeah, I’m the fisher,” you dryly chuckled while your eyes had moved to the window that had exposed the outside of the building. The current silence had been short while you had waited for Shiloh to tell you that you were dismissed.
“I wasn’t told how beautiful you were,” he geekily smiled and you couldn’t help but softly laugh at his attempt to flirt.
“I’m sure it’s inappropriate for you to flirt with a client during work hours,” you teasingly responded.
Impressed by your wittiness, he had widely smiled at your comment. “You’re correct,” he replied, “maybe I can flirt with you in another place like the Tipsy Bison.”
In thought, he had rebounded your gaze towards him. The gleam on your face had caused Shiloh to assume that you were going to say yes, still, you had shrugged, unsure if you had wanted to return to the dating scene. “I’ll think about it.”
The week had quickly passed and the moment a sufficient amount of people had healed from the flu, people were tasked to take on their patrol shifts to make up for the amount of time that had been taken. Maria had known it was no one’s fault, but she had reminded everyone that there was likely more Infected stalking the area compared to how less it would’ve been if no one was sick. You had been referred to a group shift, led by Gabriel Havens and Joel.
…and Joel.
Withal, Gabriel Havens was an older man, about the same age as Joel and was well respected, he was strong and adamant and was famous for how well he was able to take down Bloaters; there had been at least ten people within the group and the group had included Bella and Shiloh amongst other people, Shiloh was told to join due to his medical knowledge and he had been in front with Joel and Elliot while you had made sure to stay at the back with Bella, Bella, someone you had grown to like over the weeks you had been broken up with Joel.
She had helped you get over him, well, you were not necessarily over him but Bella had been a kind friend to you and you were deeply beholden for her behaviour.
“What do you think of the Shiloh dude?” Bella curiously asked, her inquire had snapped you out of your thoughts and you had been grateful there had been someone to make the patrol less boring than it was.
“He asked me out on a date,” you truthfully replied, you had curved your gaze towards Bella who had laughed at your quick response.
“Of course, you did,” she responded while she wiped the small comedy tears with the side of her hands. “Anyone would want to date you, truthfully.”
You had smiled at her small speech of encouragement but you had quickly remembered Joel didn’t want to. You had remembered how awkward things has been, Ellie had caught onto the fact that you had separated with Joel and she had taken Joel’s side due to how she was upset that you had continuously disappeared from Jackson, but she couldn’t stay mad at you, chiefly when she had observed how upset you were in relations to the break up, she had secretly checked up on you without Joel knowing; in the end, she did like the private hang-outs you would share with each other and it had motivated you to promise Ellie that there’ll be a day where you will take her out to fish.
Your buried thoughts were snapped the moment Bandits had sneakily ambushed the group, they had each released as much as pistols they could shoot, in attempt to take the entire group down. Fortunately, the patrol group had stood their ground and discharged bullets back, majority of the patrol group had hidden behind large obstacles to make it harder for the Bandits to attack.
You hadn’t struggled against them and had been able to execute a good handful of them, you were good with a gun, and you had the motivation to hide behind an impediment, you had curved your body to run behind a block but had been interrupted by a pellet that had rounded through your stomach, you were quick to snatch your body away for no one to see that the ammo had sniped through you, but the loud cartridge was enough for everyone to turn their heads towards the noise.
You could see the way everyone had looked terrified, but you couldn’t make them think that the bullet had been successfully shot through you, your body had immediately healed and even pushed the bullet out, you stopped yourself from pressing your hand against your stomach to reassure everyone, but Shiloh had run towards you while Joel and Gabriel quickly handled the rest of the Bandits, Shiloh had attempted to check your body but you had pushed him away. “I’m fine,” you reassured, “he missed.”
Yet, your reassuring message was not enough for the group, they had formed a small circle around you to check if you were fine, and the quick huddle had overwhelmed you along with Shiloh’s voice. “Show me where the person aimed,” he sternly encouraged but you had shaken your head, stubborn to not reveal where the Bandit aimed.
“I’m fine, the bullet missed.”
“I saw the bullet go right through you!” Bella countered, she had seemed scared and she was one of the first people to come to you accompanied by Joel, who had seemed wordless but his eyes had told you everything, he was startled, dismayed that he had almost lost you. You had looked at him just as startled as he was but the moment more people had established to panic around you and had pushed the argument that you must’ve been in denial and shock thus why you had denied the fact that the bullet had hit you.
“You should allow Shiloh to tend to you, that’s why he’s here,” Gabriel informed, he had his hand placed on your shoulder and he had looked you up and down to see if there was anything else that could put you at risk.
“The girl’s okay, there’s no blood, nothing,” Joel interrupted, he had stepped further into the circle and had examined you himself, “we should go back to base, she might not be injured but she might be in shock.”
You had wanted to argue against his idea but you had quickly given up and curved your gaze from him, Shiloh had still wanted to aid you and be by your side, and when you had carried on to walk with Shiloh by your side, you had still felt Joel’s gaze on you.
“That was a close call,” Bella whispered, you had been sandwiched between Bella and Shiloh who had no intentions to let you out of their sight. This particular situation had made you realise how important you were to people in Jackson and that you were not some replaceable fisher that was skilled at what you did, but a being people cared for.
Shiloh had been stuck by you like glue, he was persistent to still have you checked up, and accompanied by Shiloh there was Gabriel who had agreed with what the medic had said.
“Unless you have something to hide, you might as well allow Shiloh to do his job,” Gabriel softly joked, Gabriel had always felt warm towards you, nothing romantic, but there was this careful and guardian energy he had in relations to you, he was even unsure to bring you to the group patrol and when he had told you that you had found it insulting, he had quickly covered himself up and implied he just did not want you to get hurt.
You had still found it insulting but understood where he was coming from, but Jackson needed people to do patrols.
“I’m not infected,” you argued, you couldn’t get infected, you weren’t immune, but your body could heal anything.
“It’s for the best,” Gabriel countered and there was no good arguing with him, so you had brought yourself to your feet and followed Shiloh to the next room so he could privately check your body.
You had sat down on the nearest stool and had waited for Shiloh to close the door behind him.
“You have pretty skin,” Shiloh mentioned within the moment he had inspected your physique, he had attempted to see if you even had a scar or bruise, but there was nothing. “No scratches or any bruise.”
“Thank you.”
“And there’s no bite,” he muttered, content that there was no sign of barrage and violation.
“I know that,” you forwardly replied, your curt response had brought nothing but a smile to his face.
As you had stood up from the small stool you sat on, Shiloh had guided you to the closed door but before he opened the door, he peered to look at you again and you could tell he was about to question you. “Are you still up for the offer?”
You had cocked your right eyebrow, surprised he was still determined to take you out. You had thought about it once more, putting yourself in the dating scene was not going to hurt anyone, and who knows what Shiloh could bring to the table?
“Sure.”
You could see the light flash in his eyes, the light symbolised his pure excitement and even if it had lightly embarrassed you due to how delighted he was, you couldn’t help but feel flattered. “Don’t get too excited,” you hummed.
“Yes ma’am.”
You couldn’t help but laugh at his excitement; while the two of you returned to where everyone else was, you could sense the way Joel had watched the both of you saunter into the room, you had tried everything to avoid his gaze, he was the past and it was the best to leave it at that.
“Did you finally accept his invitation?” Bella asked, confident that you had.
You had smiled at her question anteriorly before you had turned to look at Shiloh with a content look on your face which he had shared. Your swift motion enough for Bella to comprehend that you had eventually approved of Shiloh’s invite.
It had been approximately three days since the group patrol and everything returned back to normal, you had avoided Joel and Ellie had resumed on visiting you, the only change was that you had a fling with Shiloh, you hadn’t gone on a date with him yet, but you had waited till he was free from his hospital shifts before you could go to the Tipsy Bison with him.
Currently you had Bella over for dinner which had turned to a wine drinking fest, if you were told earlier on that you would become best friends with the butcher’s annoying daughter you would’ve thought that person was crazy, although now, that annoying person was now someone you had deemed a good friend.
The both of you presently joked about whatever commotion you had seen today till the both of you heard the front door knock, surprised, you had put your wine glass down, you hadn’t expected anyone else aside from Bella to come over, unless it was Ellie, she turned up whenever she felt like it.
Nevertheless, you were so wrong to think it would be Ellie standing outside your home, because there stood Joel. Holding a big box of your belongings, dazed by his arrival, your eyes automatically widened, alarmed that he had thought of coming here.
Before you had opened the door you were giggling in thought of Bella’s jokes and the moment you had saw Joel everything stopped. You quickly observed that he had been holding your belongings, “we’re at the returning things phase,” you quietly muttered as you eyed the object he held in his arms. “Thank you,” you quietly acknowledged as you took the box from him. You had avoided his gaze but you could feel those brown orbs quietly urge you to look at him, and you did, you fell for it and faced him. “What happened to not wanting me in your presence?”
God, he was as handsome as ever, and you were ashamed you had felt so weak for him. “Havin’ your stuff around isn’t helping.”
You had then tucked your bottom lip behind your teeth and gently nodded at his statement. One hand of yours was against the door, and the other aided to hold the box under your armpit, ready to close it but had remembered that he had some of his stuff over as well. “Do you want your stuff back?” You softly inquired, and if you were being honest, you liked having his stuff around but you had doubted he had felt the same.
“Sure.”
“Then you should come in.”
He had closed the door behind him while you had walked to where Bella was and informed her you would come be coming back before you had made way to the second floor, leaving Bella and Joel downstairs.
“Hi,” Bella stiffly greeted Joel, the kitchen was an open room, a part of the living room only being separated by islands Bella sat behind. Bella had respected Joel, but did she like him? Not really, chiefly after she had noticed the state, he had left you in, for weeks you had thought you were unworthy because of what you were, at first, you didn’t think anyone would make you hate what you are but Joel did.
With the way he had looked at you and spoke to you, it made your stomach churn whenever you had thought about it, and it had caused you to believe there was no way you two could romantically reconcile with each other again.
“Hey,” Joel awkwardly greeted as he shortly watched Bella drink her wine before he examined his surroundings and remembered every place, he made love to you. On the other hand, he could tell Bella didn’t really like him, especially during the group patrol, he had caught each side-glare she sent his way, as if she purposely wanted him to see it.
You were quick to return to where both Bella and Joel was, Bella had currently sat herself on your sofa whereas Joel had not moved from the position you had last saw him. You were quick to pass on his belongings and he had quickly thanked you, briskly, you had raised the both of your eyebrows and gracelessly shoved your hands into your back pockets.
“You okay?” Joel lightly questioned and you had blandly scoffed at his inquire, you know his question related to what happened in the group patrol but you were humoured to how he had suddenly felt like he could play worried ex-boyfriend after how he had treated you.
“I’m fine, the bullet didn’t hit me,” it was a half-lie, the half-truth being you were okay, but the half-lie being related to you not being attacked by the bullet.
Unmoved, Joel gingerly beckoned his head to your answer while he was deep in thought about the night, when he had found out what you were, but as he reminded himself that he was most likely over-staying his stay. He repeated his thank and awkwardly smiled at you, “I need to get back to Bella,” you whispered.
“Of course,” he dryly muttered and had curved his head towards Bella who had watched the entire situation, he was unsure if Bella would’ve cared if he said goodbye to her or not but Joel had still sent her a goodbye afore he left your property.
The date between you and Shiloh had eventually arrived, the two of you sat on two seats at the Tipsy Bison, you had already been mildly inebriated as you had taken pre-drinks before Shiloh had arrived to take you to the location. He had hastily noticed that you were a bit drunk but he didn’t mind it all and actually found it funny.
“You look beautiful, everyone in the bar thinks the same thing.”
You had awkwardly smiled at his compliment and gently pushed some of your hair behind your ear. “Thank you.”
“There’s just something about you that makes me never stop thinking about you and it’s scaring me,” he whispered, he had looked deep into your eyes, as if the look of you had pushed him into a drunken state.
You had gracelessly sat up on the seat you had positioned yourself on, you had faced him, unsure if the date was a good idea and he had immediately recognised the uncomfortable look on your face and he gently hung his head low. “I’m so sorry, God, I’m so lame.”
“I’ve just never been in contact with someone like you.”
Confused, you had furrowed your eyebrows, curious to what he had meant. “Someone like me?” You repeated, forward to comprehend what he had meant by that statement.
“Yeah, someone with mesmerising energy like you,” he answered, ashamed of his desperate behaviour, he had forced himself to look at you again, in which you had then sent him an encouraging look before you had taken a sip of your drink to help you adapt to the awkward situation. “I’ve never made a fool of myself in front of a woman like this.”
“It’s okay,” you laughed as you had softly put your drink down and watched him gather an augmented confident persona which had made you laugh again, compared to Joel, Shiloh was more expressive and comedic, it was a nice change.
“People speak about you a lot,” Shiloh briskly informed, “I heard you and Joel used to be a thing.”
You couldn’t complain, the topic about you and Joel was without a doubt going to be brought up. When you two were together, you were a popular couple, specifically because of Joel, he was a well-respected man and the brother of the co-leader of the town, Tommy, moreover, you. You were the mysterious fisher, an Aphrodite and a well sought-after woman, the moment you two had broken up, it was the talk of the town for weeks and people still talk about it till this day.
“Yeah,” you replied, you had quickly raised the both of your eyebrows, not really in the mood to speak about your previous relationship with Joel to Shiloh, but the man who sat beside you was ever so curious regarding to you, you had doubted he was going to let it go.
“So, what happened between the two of you?” Shiloh inquired, his eyes had glistened and flickered with an intrusive intensity that had spoken about how he desired for the knowledge.
Though, with the liquor that had begun to relax your intense demeanour, you had felt yourself begin to open up. “There was just so many differences, y’know?” You had therefore sadly smiled at Shiloh, and for the first time within the date, your eyes were latched to his and he was able to understand that the breakup had still hurt you. “He was the one to call it quits,” you had dangerously wanted to dive into why Joel had wanted to break up with you but you had known it was the alcohol that had commenced you to feel that way. Compared to the average Human, it would take you a handful of shots to feel the drunken state, you had been drinking immensely in the pub and had even had early drinks in your home.
Shiloh had observed that you had been drinking plenty and had quietly thought he’d have to step in before you became milled. “There’s a man out there who would be willing to accept those differences.”
Lightly struck by his comment, you had gently leaned forward to him, as if you were to interrogate him. “And is the man you’re talking about, you?”
“And what if I said, yes?” Shiloh countered, hiding a laugh behind his throat the two of you had eventually spat into laughter.
The night had continued strong, and you handed ended up finding Shiloh’s embarrassing behaviour heart-warming and fun, but it had seemed like you could never have something good for long, it had also reminded you that if you’re in a caged town and you’re attempting to avoid someone, it’ll never work.
The minute he stepped into the Tipsy Bison, you had heard Joel’s name being mentioned from each corner of the building, you could feel the alcohol effect drain out of your body and for a brief moment Joel had watched you and Shiloh; Shiloh could tell that you had felt off, chiefly the moment you had looked down and silently sulked for a few seconds, your date had looked at Joel ere his gaze twisted towards you.
“Want to come to my place?”
Your head had lifted up, usually, you wouldn’t go to a man’s house this early, but the period Joel had stepped into the bar you had wanted to leave, it was as if a switch in your body that had not been working the previous times had been repaired and now you would do anything to be away from him.
“Sure.”
You had as much as fun as you did in the bar in Shiloh’s home, the both of you had shared stories about the past with each other, you had distinctly left some of the metaphysical context out of your story but Shiloh was drunk enough to overshare his anterior life story and not care about the fact that there had been some suspicious holes in your tales.
He had informed you that he used to work in a hospital that was currently abandoned because a couple of people decided to hide the fact that they had gotten infected and risked other people’s lives. He had conjointly told you that he liked to draw and had currently dragged you to his kitchen to show you his drawings he had left on the island.
During the moment you had looked through his sketch book, you had recorded that he was a person that sketched and painted, he was skilled and you were impressed. For a brief moment, he had left to get himself a glass of wine and offered you some which you had ended up denying, you had enough for the night and did not want to come to an intoxicated state level where you begin to embarrass yourself.
Though the more you had looked through his art pieces, the more you had started to realise he liked drawing the ocean, “these are prett---oh!” You had suddenly gasped in relations to Shiloh accidentally spilling his wine all over your hand, a minority part of the liquid ended up spilling against his pictures and he had continuously begun to apologise for his inept behaviour which you had quickly forgiven.
He had urged you to continue looking through the paintings and sketches while he had cleaned the spill, likewise, the more you had flicked through the pages the more you had observed that the presence of a fish-tailed woman had appeared in his pieces.
Her tail had black scales with blue hues, like yours.
You had furrowed your eyebrows, keen to resume your examination, some of the art had involved places in Jackson, and the other drawings had concerned you in it. Some drawings were you in places before you had started to live in Jackson. Some with you and Joel, some with you accompanied by Ellie, and some with you at the sea place where you fish.
Wordless, you had looked up at Shiloh, immediately ready to back up and leave his home, but he had raised both of his hands to show you that he meant no harm.
“I love everything about you!”
“I love the fact that you’re a Siren, and that you’re different, and that you use your Siren abilities to fish and help Jackson with food---” but that wasn’t enough for you to stay in his home, you had aimed for the door but he was quick, his hands were wrapped around your wrists to pull you into him. “I’ve been fascinated by you, and I won’t speak about your secret to anyone!”
He was desperate for you to stay, you could see it in his eyes, with how wide they were, it fascinated you, how someone had not feared what you were but had been captivated. Still, you had pushed him away, you were stronger than Shiloh and he knew that, the pressure your hands had against his chest was immense, it had commenced him to rub his chest, but he was still entranced.
“I figured Joel knows what you are too, and that’s probably why you two had broken up.”
“And what makes you think you knowing this would make me feel better?” You asked.
“Because unlike Joel, I’ll accept what you are because I’m in love with it, it makes me enamoured by you, and I hope you’ll give me a chance to show you, that I won’t hurt you the way he did.”
In response, you had lightly pouted, sulky that he had reminded you that Joel would never accept you for who you are. Howbeit, the fact that someone knew that you were a Siren and would not look at you differently for it had made you feel timid and susceptible. To have someone accept you for not being Human had unbarred you, thus, you had dropped your scared suspicions and returned to continue spending the night with him.

𓆩♡𓆪 description: Lips the colour of blood, the sun an unprecedented orange, train wheels that sound like 'guilt, and guilt, and guilt': these are just some of the things Mary Ventura begins to notice on her journey to the ninth kingdom.
'But what is the ninth kingdom?' she asks a kind-seeming lady in her carriage. 'It is the kingdom of the frozen will,' comes the reply. 'There is no going back.'
Sylvia Plath's strange, dark tale of independence over infanticide, written not long after she herself left home, grapples with mortality in motion.
𓆩♡𓆪 thoughts: quite spooky and atmospheric, but not long enough to leave much of a lasting impression.
𓆩♡𓆪 title: The Fake Mate
𓆩♡𓆪 author: Lana Furguson
𓆩♡𓆪 rating: 🌕🌕🌕
𓆩♡𓆪 description: Mackenzie Carter has had some very bad dates lately. Model train experts, mansplainers, guys weirdly obsessed with her tail—she hasn’t had a successful date in months. Only a year out of residency, her grandmother’s obsession with Mackenzie finding the perfect mate to settle down with threatens to drive Mackenzie barking mad. Out of options, it feels like a small thing to tell her grandmother that she’s met someone. That is, until she blurts out the name of the first man she sees and the last man she would ever date: Noah Taylor, the big bad wolf of Denver General.
Noah Taylor, interventional cardiologist and all around grump, has spent his entire life hiding what he is. With outdated stigmas surrounding unmated alphas that have people wondering if they still howl at the moon, Noah has been careful to keep his designation under wraps. It’s worked for years, until an anonymous tip has everything coming to light. Noah is left with two options: come clean to the board and risk his career—or find himself a mate. The chatty, overly friendly ER doctor asking him to be her fake boyfriend on the same day he’s called to meet the board has to be kismet, right? Mackenzie will keep her grandmother off her back, and Nate will get a chance to prove he can continue to work without a real mate—a mutually beneficial business transaction, they both rationalize. But when the fake-mate act turns into a very real friends-with-benefits arrangement, lines start to blur, and they quickly realize love is a whole different kind of animal.

𓆩♡𓆪 title: Seraphina
𓆩♡𓆪 author: Rachel Hartman
𓆩♡𓆪 rating: 🌕🌕🌕🌗
𓆩♡𓆪 description: Four decades of peace have done little to ease the mistrust between humans and dragons in the kingdom of Goredd. Folding themselves into human shape, dragons attend court as ambassadors, and lend their rational, mathematical minds to universities as scholars and teachers. As the treaty's anniversary draws near, however, tensions are high.
Seraphina Dombegh has reason to fear both sides. An unusually gifted musician, she joins the court just as a member of the royal family is murdered—in suspiciously draconian fashion. Seraphina is drawn into the investigation, partnering with the captain of the Queen's Guard, the dangerously perceptive Prince Lucian Kiggs. While they begin to uncover hints of a sinister plot to destroy the peace, Seraphina struggles to protect her own secret, the secret behind her musical gift, one so terrible that its discovery could mean her very life.

𓆩♡𓆪 rating: 🌕🌕🌕
𓆩♡𓆪 description: When the final four women in competition for an aloof, somewhat sleazy bachelor’s heart arrive on a mysterious island in the Pacific Northwest, they prepare themselves for another week of extreme sleep deprivation, invasive interviews, and, of course, the salacious drama eager viewers nationwide tune in to devour. Each woman came on The Catch for her own reasons—brand sponsorships, followers, and, yes, even love—and they’ve all got their eyes steadfastly trained on their respective prizes. Enter Patricia, a temperamental and woe¬fully misunderstood local living alone in the dark, verdant woods, and desperate for connection. Through twists as unexpected as they are wildly entertaining, the self-absorbed cast and jaded crew each make her acquaintance atop the island’s tallest and most desolate peak, finding themselves at the center of an action-packed thriller that is far from scripted—and only a few will make the final cut.

𓆩♡𓆪 author: D.N. Brynn
𓆩♡𓆪 rating: 🌕🌕🌕🌖
𓆩♡𓆪 description: Vincent Barnes has suffered four years as a vampire, and they’ve been the most miserable years of his pathetic life. Too poor for black market blood, he feeds from sleeping humans to survive. He tries to never intrude on the same prey twice, but after a single delicious taste of a long-lost childhood neighbor, he can’t help returning for seconds.
Wesley Garcia has been waking up with fang marks. Lucky for him, he needs a vampire—to use as bait. He’s certain Vitalis-Barron Pharmaceutical killed his mother, but to gain access to their covert research labs, he has to bring them a bloodsucker for their experiments.
Step one, a dramatic offer: Stay, and you can bite me.
Vincent leaps at the chance to gobble Wesley up.
Wes’s plan is perfect. He’ll befriend the vampire, then trick him into coming to the lab. No fighting, no fuss. But Vincent is more than Wesley has bargained for: sweet and shy, with intoxicating fangs that awaken new desires in Wes. As the two bond, Vincent believes he might have finally found someone worth putting his trust in... and Wes fears neither of them will survive the betrayal he has planned.

𓆩♡𓆪 title: Romeo And/Or Juliet, A Chooseable-Path Adventure
𓆩♡𓆪 author: Ryan North
𓆩♡𓆪 rating: 🌕🌕🌕
𓆩♡𓆪 description: In this choose-your-own-path version of Romeo and Juliet, you choose where the story goes every time you read What if Romeo never met Juliet? What if Juliet got really buff instead of moping around the castle all day? What if they teamed up to take over Verona with robot suits? Whatever your adventure, you're guaranteed to find lots of romance, lots of epic fight scenes, and plenty of questionable decision-making by very emotional teens.
All of the endings--there are over a hundred--feature beautiful illustrations by some of the greatest artists working today, including New York Times bestsellers Kate Beaton, Noelle Stevenson, Randall Munroe, and Jon Klassen.
Packed with exciting choices, fun puzzles, secret surprises, terrible puns, and more than a billion possible storylines, Romeo and/or Juliet offers a new experience every time you read it. You can choose to play as Romeo or Juliet (obviously) but you can also play as both of them, or as Juliet's nurse, or, if you're good, you can even unlock a fourth playable character That's right. We figured out how to have unlockable characters in books. Choose well, and you may even get to write the world's most awkward choose-your-own sex scene.

𓆩♡𓆪 title: Vampires of Eden: Oliver
𓆩♡𓆪 author: Karla Nikole
𓆩♡𓆪 rating: 🌕🌕🌕🌖
𓆩♡𓆪 description: Welcome to Eden. A vampire aristocracy weighted down by the iron shackles of rigid and sometimes cruel customs. Eden exists as all vampires once were—motivated by power, wealth, influence and sexual desire.
Oliver James Blakeley is a young purebred vampire raised in Eden. Although, he sincerely wishes that were not the case. He is isolated. Lonely. And his every move is controlled by his manipulative father, who has also saddled him with an arranged marriage.
Oliver yearns to be free. To live as a liberated vampire in the twenty-first century. He knows that his dream is outlandish given his circumstance. But when he encounters a suave, progressive and much older vampire during the preparation for his wedding, the trajectory of Oliver’s life shifts, and nothing will ever be the same.

As she trudges through the immense Green Cloak forest, her thoughts are interrupted by the clattering of hooves, as a galloping horse bursts from the woods.
The rider is slumped over his mount's neck, impaled by two black-shafted arrows. As the young man lies dying on the road, he tells Karigan he is a Green Rider, one of the legendary messengers of the king of Sacoridia.
Before he dies, he begs Karigan to deliver the "life and death" message he bears to King Zachary. When she reluctantly he agrees, he makes her swear on his sword to complete his mission, whispering with his dying breath, Beware the shadow man....
Taking on the golden-winged horse brooch that is the symbol of the Green Riders, Karigan is swept into a world of deadly danger and complex magic, her life forever changed.
