swap au or something
Tumblr media
ekko -> viktor
viktor -> jinx
jinx -> ekko
i read this fic and got inspired. it doesn't follow the canon to it but it inspired me (do check it out though it's really cool)
if you got any au questions then throw em at me (i've only watched arcane once tho so i might not have answers)
(more in the tags)
#diinoposting#yippee diino art#random au ideas#arcane swap au#arcane#ekko arcane#jinx arcane#viktor arcane#forgot to add#viktor gets 2 hexclaws for braid equivalent#they also are what he uses the stolen hextech to power#as like equivalent also to jinx's guns and weapons#it's cool#ekko here still becomes machine herald in place of vik#it's less religiony but he is still saviour in the eyes of the healed#jinx at first still quite likes bombs but switched to more defensive weapons after creating the firelights#definitely will still create time travel too#jayvik probably won't happen in this au except for maybe really later. they kinda fought at the start and it was pretty irreversable#viktor hates jayce and piltover with a passion because viktor created a bomb and was gonna use it on enforcers but jayce thinks now that al#-zaunites are chaotic and violent. he doesn't want to work with someone who's making bombs that will kill their beloved police force#this is like really far back tho. a couple years or so after viktor's boat scene. so it's not exactly fully rational thought yet#since they got small child brains (in terms of development and core values. they're still both super smart)#then since hears their argument and viktor accidentally sets off the bomb. jayce retreats and takes their main notebook back to piltover.#singed i mean. typo#meanwhile vik gets adopted by silco who promises that jayce and the rest of piltover will see his potential someday (likely violently tbfr)#the bomb and the boat are currently his best work and silco sees use in all of it. the bombs are well. bombs. but the boat has really well#-made mechanisms which can be used for other stuff#i think im gonna stop rambling in the tags now lol#any questions feel free to ask cause this idea has definitely split off from it's source inspiration#ok thanks gang

↞[arcane preference] founding out you were injured in crossfire↠
Since I've created a Bluesky profile and wrote my thesis on Arcane, I'll be posting both old and new drawings there as soon as the time comes. I'm taking advantage of this little space to promote my other social account. honey-tongued.bsky.social Also, I've received both comments and requests, but Tumblr decided I couldn’t post for a week (my internet connection is terrible). I want to let you know that I appreciate them, and I'll get to everything as soon as I can. So, feel free to leave comments, feedback, or requests!
Jayce:
- This is the worst news he could receive: he's a scholar, he has no idea how to handle these situations, and, most of all, he's forced to confront his pride.
- Not only was he unable to protect you now, but what if it happens again? Even if he's there, he wouldn't know what to do.
- What if there's a next time? What if it doesn't turn out as well next time?
- His self-sabotage leads him to distance himself from you for a few days, not because he doesn't want to be near you while you're hurting, but because he's ashamed of not being able to protect the person he loves.
- On the bright side, for even just a second, he remembers the original purpose of his research: making the city safe, helping people.
- But on the negative side, with no one to blame, more than ever, the people of Zaun appear to him as beasts, second-class humans who can't be redeemed in any way.
- When he finally gathers the courage to see you again, he tries to make amends for everything: for not protecting you, for not being able to, for allowing someone to hurt you, and for not being there during your recovery.
- He'll literally do anything to be forgiven: every morning you'll find breakfast in bed, if it's cold at night he'll prepare a warmer for your feet, and despite his squeamishness, he'll personally tend to your wounds, even if it makes him feel queasy.
Viktor:
- He tries to help you in every way possible, even ignoring his own pain.
- He feels sadness, regrets that you went out alone and ended up in such a situation. He can't help but imagine the fear you must have felt, the confusion, and the loneliness when the guards intervened, and you woke up alone in the hospital.
- He may be a scholar, but first and foremost he's a man with a moral code, and secondly, he's from Zaun: if he has any work, appointments, or lectures, he'll skip them all, maybe muttering a few insults in his thick accent at the most insistent people, and make up for it at night.
- Plans, ideas, codes, anything – but he won't leave you alone unless you ask him to.
- He takes care of you meticulously, respecting schedules, bringing you meals in bed, changing your bandages until your skin heals, and you're able to stand on your own again.
- He doesn't mind helping you – as a chronically ill person who refuses others' help, he's learned to do everything on his own, and he's almost happy that his skills can be useful to someone else.
Ekko:
- Is it something totally normal in the lanes? Yes.
- Does this stop Ekko from panicking? No.
- He's the one who finds you and brings you to the others, but he doesn't want, nor can he afford, to be seen panicking. So, he swallows his despair and tries to act as normal as possible while ten other people rush to help you.
- His face remains expressionless as the most skilled remove debris, clean the wound, stitch your torn flesh, and bandage you, but his foot keeps tapping the floor with force and speed, revealing his anxiety.
- When the others insist that it's best you stay in the makeshift infirmary, he tries not to protest, but suddenly every moment of the day becomes an excuse to pass by: to bring you stolen sweets from Piltover, to tell you about some expedition, maybe even steal a kiss or fall asleep leaning against your mattress.
- It's an overwhelming fear, but the fear of losing you makes him unable to think rationally, and all he feels is how much he misses you, even while you're right there with him.
Vander:
- A crossfire from the other side of the river was already a big enough provocation to alert him and prepare to defend the city or, if absolutely necessary, to strike back.
- But you, as an accidental victim, are a huge problem.
- He doesn’t have the heart to pull away from you, and when he does, he can’t help but feel frustrated, angry at himself, knowing he hasn’t been able to keep his city under control like he promised—to you, to Piltover, to everyone.
- He’ll ask for your forgiveness by kissing the scarred skin every day, even if you insist it’s not his fault, and if you remember even one of the faces, he’ll go and handle the problem.
- Not with violence, unless necessary, but it’s not about personal justice; rather, it’s about protecting the other citizens of the alleys too.
- Even after you’ve healed, he’ll insist it’s absolutely necessary to carry you everywhere you need to go, claiming a very good doctor told him so.
- And the memory of the scar will be tiny compared to all the marks Vander has left on you.
Silco:
- Private justice is absolutely the first option, even though you were an accidental victim.
- He’ll call all his goons and associates for a meeting while you’re still bedridden, to see if they’ve heard, seen, or been involved in any armed conflict, and if he doesn’t get a face or a name from them, he’ll turn to the brothel, the house of all information,
- Until he finds who hurt you and makes sure they can’t do it again.
- Silco isn’t fazed by blood or open wounds, but despite having enough experience to handle it himself, at least on the first day, he’ll take you to Singed to make sure you’re in the best condition.
- In the following days, he’ll take care of you himself, but he has pride, a façade, and little emotional communication skills, so he won’t openly show how worried he is, relying entirely on the fact that you don’t know about the murder of your assailant and remember nothing of the visit to Singed.
- But the only reason you heal so well and so quickly is that, even if he doesn’t know how to express it, all the love he feels is poured into the care he gives you.
Jinx:
- Flashbacks. So many. Too many.
- At some point, she’ll even convince herself that she’s the one who shot you, leading to a complete breakdown.
- She punches her head, scratches herself without realizing it, her nose bleeds, and her eyes are bloodshot.
- It takes her a while to convince herself that she wasn’t the one who shot you, even though the hallucinations overlap images of you with memories of her armed, creating waking nightmares that feel increasingly real.
- As much as she’d like to ask her father for help, even just to give you a cleaner room, she feels responsible and is too scared that if she stays away from you, you’ll forget her. That’s why she sets up a little space for you and takes care of you herself, though not always painlessly.
- She’s pulled bullets out of her own body more times than not after missions; what might seem like dangerous, delicate work to someone else is almost routine for her by now.
- Once she has a suspicion of who might have done it, she’ll make sure they learn their lesson.

Vi:
- Anger.
- Why were you out alone? Why didn’t you leave as soon as you saw the crowd getting too big? Why were you in that area?
- But her anger is just panic pouring out like a flood, the fear of not being able to protect the one she loves twists her stomach, making her feel like she might throw up, like she’s dying inside.
- None of those questions mean she blames you, but she doesn’t know how to feel, what to think, or even what to do.
- She’ll do everything to help you—bandaging you, cleaning your wounds, staying silent and giving her full attention to make up for not being there when you needed her, even though that’s not true.
- And when the scar forms, she’ll kiss it every single day, every single night, like a little ritual between the two of you.
Caitlyn:
- Safety first.
- She’ll be the one to assess how bad the injury is, and if there are any foreign objects in your body, there’s a good chance she’ll try to handle it herself, even though at first it might seem a bit barbaric.
- She’ll give you the guest room and call the family doctor to make sure you’re okay, that you don’t need anything else, and she’ll take care of what’s necessary, even teasing you a bit to hide her worry.
- "A bullet in the leg from being caught in crossfire? Very vintage, I must say."
- What you won’t know is that she’ll quietly increase security, not in an oppressive way, but just enough to make both you and the other citizens feel safer.
- Her family won’t get involved directly, but they won’t stop her either. Sometimes Cassandra herself will make sure her daughter finds the tray to bring up to you, though she’ll never be too open about it.
- The perfect rehabilitation? Long walks in the villa’s garden, so you can stop for some cookies or tea when you get tired.
Mel:
- Flashbacks, but less personal than Jinx’s.
- Her mother would call her weak if she knew how it kills her to see someone barely scratched by crossfire, and that realization soon turns into frustration, which then becomes anger.
- She tries to stay calm, but her voice sounds like she’s scolding you, and then like she’s scolding the servants, or anyone else who crosses her path.
- Two hours of lecture if you’re lucky—why you shouldn’t go out without a guard, why you shouldn’t put yourself in dangerous situations, why the enforcers are utterly useless and can’t find anyone responsible, even though the fight was so intense.
- She’ll focus entirely on the bureaucratic side because little Mel was never taught how to deal with strong emotions, and she’s definitely feeling them now but can’t afford that vulnerability, even though she knows you’re safe.
- She won’t take care of you herself, but she’ll always stay in the room. Not because she doesn’t want to, to be clear, but because she wants you to have the best care possible and prefers to leave it to a top professional rather than her inexperienced hands.
- In return, she’ll triple the amount of affection and caresses—more to calm herself than you, but you won’t be the one to complain.
Sevika:
- She needs a moment.
- She knows she has to report to Silco that there was a firefight, that someone is threatening the people, but part of her just wants to grab those responsible and crush their heads with her bare hands, doing both you and her boss a favor. Yet, another part of her doesn’t want to leave you alone or take you with her.
- She knows how to handle these things; she’s lost an arm, and Silco’s goons often come back in worse shape, which is why she’ll take care of you herself, in complete silence.
- She’ll wait until you’re asleep to place a water bottle, a glass, some painkillers, and some bread on the nightstand next to your bed. And when she’s sure you’re fully asleep, she’ll leave a soft kiss on your forehead before putting on her cloak and heading out to the Last Drop.
- There, she’ll release her anger in a brawl or two, talk to her boss, and search for the reason why she feels so awful at the bottom of her third glass of whiskey.

Maybe in Another Universe, You're Still the Man I Love: Viktor x Reader
Summary: You get sent to the same alternate timeline with Ekko and Heimerdinger, and you find out just how wonderful your life could've been.
Words: 2.1k
Author's Notes: Yeah so that finale sent me into deep grief and writing is the only way I can heal I fear. I hope you enjoy this interpretation of what Viktor could be doing in the alternate timeline.
“Are you alright, darling?”
Your vision comes into focus, though your head is still pounding. You’re extremely nauseous, feeling like your body is not your own as you become aware of the all-too-familiar voice that just spoke to you.
You’re sitting on a desk in an Academy classroom, journals and various papers surrounding you. The sun is shining through the windows, cascading gold onto the other desks and tables. It’s a peaceful, simple sight. Something that feels so wrong for precisely that reason.
“I don’t have another class for a while, you can talk to me,” Viktor says, brushing his fingers against your face. “Care to tell me why you’re looking at me like that?”
You suppose you look like you’ve seen a ghost, which isn’t so far from the truth. You must be dreaming—maybe hallucinating—anything to explain how this isn’t real.
“I…” you start, failing to find the words to say.
-
You storm into the lab, locking your eyes on the empty hexcore cocoon, then at Jayce.
“Where the fuck is he?”
“I don’t know!” Jayce fires back at you, clearly just as distraught as you are. “He woke up and told me he needed to leave me and this place. I have no idea where he went!”
“Why didn’t you follow him?” you scream, your mind spinning. Who knows how the hexcore changed him, he could literally be anywhere.
“He didn’t want me to! What don’t you understand?” Jayce slumps back into his chair, his face in his hands. As soon as he notices a tear fall down your cheek, his tone softens. “Look, I...we both know he’s been different since he started messing with the hexcore. He had told me to destroy it...but I couldn’t. And now he’s even more different. I’m so sorry,”
“Jayce…” you walk towards him. “I’m not blaming you for anything that’s happened. He’s been pushing both of us away for a long time. I guess...I just thought maybe when he woke up he’d love me again like he used to. Did he even ask about me?”
Jayce shakes his head, and your heart sinks even further.
-
“I think I’m dreaming,” you finally say, and Viktor tilts his head. “This...this isn’t real. We’re not like this, we haven’t been like this in a long time. You’re not...what are you here, a professor?”
He cups your face and kisses your forehead, “Darling, I don’t think you’ve been getting enough sleep, you’re talking nonsense,”
“No, no, no,” you jump off the desk and pace around the room. “If this isn’t a dream, then where am I? Some sort of other reality?”
“You mean to say you believe...this is not your world?” Viktor takes in your words intently.
“Well in my world, you fell out of love with me in favor of your work, and then you nearly died and got severely mutated by the hexcore. So yeah, I’d say things are pretty different,”
He raises an eyebrow, “Hex...core?”
“You don’t have that here?”
“Seemingly not,”
You sigh, perching yourself back on the desk, “You don’t believe me, do you?”
“No, I...I have theorized the possibility of alternate universes before, but I never thought I would come face to face with it in my lifetime,” he starts writing on the wall chalkboard. “I see no reason not to believe you. After all, my wife of this universe would probably not be saying these things,”
“We’re married?”
“Of course. Now tell me, what else is different in your universe?”
-
You’ve tried to find him everywhere—going all the secret places the two of you would go in the past, and asking people if they’ve seen him both topside and bottom. There’s no signs, not even a clue. He doesn’t want to be found.
You make your way back to Jayce’s lab, surprised to see Heimerdinger and a young man you don’t recognize with him. They fill you in on their concern about wild runes showing up around the city, and their plan to check on the hexgates. You’re desperate for anything to get your mind off Viktor, so you go along with them.
You’ve never been to the source of the hexgates before, and it’s even more grand than you imagined. One thing could go wrong and the entire thing would explode, but it’s precisely the potential of destruction that makes it all the more fascinating.
That is, until it becomes entirely unpredictable.
Your surroundings change at the blink of an eye—warped visuals and sounds you can’t make out. You scream for the others, but no one can hear.
-
You do your best to describe all the important events and details of your timeline, while Viktor takes notes on the chalkboard and compares what you say to his timeline. He seems particularly interested in his inventions in your timeline, and his partnership with Jayce—who’s no longer alive in his timeline.
“He died in an explosion here at the academy several years ago, it was a tragic accident that also killed a young girl from the undercity. He was a friend and a brilliant mind,” he pauses. “We...actually named our son after him.”
Your eyes widen, overwhelmed by this possibility of what could’ve been, “We have a son?”
“We do. And he’s perfect,” Viktor smiles softly. “You really are from a different time, aren’t you?”
You nod, trying to hold back tears. Why does this reality’s version of you get to be happy? Why does this Viktor get to dodge corruption and the hands of hubris?
Viktor gazes once again on the chalkboard notes, looking for patterns and causes for the differences in your timelines. Would he have reached the same fate if Jayce was still alive? What caused the Undercity to heal and thrive in his timeline but not in yours? Was this hextech you speak of really so destructive?
You are the same person he fell in love with, there’s no doubt in his mind about that, but you’ve been significantly more hurt than the Y/N he knows.
He steps close to you again, wiping the tears from your face and pulling you into him, “I’m so sorry your version of me has taken a different path.”
You sob into his chest, gripping his clothes. He runs his fingers through your hair and rubs your back, soothing you as if you’re his own.
But you’re not his. This isn’t your life.
You pull away, taking a deep breath, “As much as I want to stay here, I can’t keep taking over the consciousness of the me in this world. I need to find the others,”
“I don’t know if it’s possible for you to get back,” he says. “You say you got here through hextech, and that was never invented here.”
“We’ll find a way,” you run to the window, looking out to get a gauge of where you are. Heimerdinger might have landed somewhere here in the Academy too, and Ekko probably went back to the Undercity. But Jayce—if he’s dead in this universe—where would he be?
“Before you go,” Viktor places a hand on your shoulder. “Would you like to meet our son?”
Anxiety washes over you, your body going numb from the prospect. Would it only hurt you more to see a life that you could’ve created?
“Don’t you have more classes to teach, professor?” you smile, trying to turn your nervousness into something lighthearted.
“I’ll cancel for today. It’s about the time you usually pick him up from school anyway,”
He grabs his cane with one hand and takes your hand with the other, posting a quick note on his door as you leave.
-
You sit on a bench outside the elementary school, your heart pounding. This child is going to run out that building any minute, eager to see the mother he’s always known.
But you’re not her. You didn’t carry him, birth him, or raise him. You don’t have the same memories and experiences.
But you must pretend that you do.
You know which one he is immediately. He’s a perfect combination of yours and Viktor’s features, just like you’d imagined. His smile is contagious, and he wastes no time jumping into your arms.
“Look what I made at school today, Mommy!” he puts a crafty contraption in front of your face, a colorful collection of sticks and paper glued together.
“That’s so creative, honey, I love it,” but your attention is solely focused on him, his sweet face glowing with pride and joy.
“Quite the little inventor, aren’t you?” Viktor applauds him. “What else did you learn today?”
“We did reading and spelling. I can spell family now. F-A-M-I-L-E!”
“Close, sweetheart. There’s a ‘Y’ at the end,” you laugh,
“Are you sure about that?” he says, wincing his adorable face in thought. “Whatever. I learned how to spell brother and sister too, but I don’t have any of those. How do I get one of those?”
Viktor chuckles, “I’ll talk about it with your Mommy, how about that?”
“Okay!” he jumps up and starts walking home with the two of you.
-
What if I stayed? You wonder.
You’re playing with your son on the living room floor, with toys mostly made by Viktor himself. The house is small but cozy, a home you wish was really yours. What if you just stay in this dream reality forever?
What if you never find the others? What if there really is no way to get back?
But no, that wouldn’t be fair to the you of this reality. She’s the one who has this life, not you. Besides, Viktor and his son deserve their wife and mother back.
You hear a knock on the door, and Viktor goes to open it.
“Oh, Viktor, it is so good to see you.”
Your head swivels instantly towards the yordle in the entryway, “Heimerdinger! You found me!” you join Viktor at the door, “Where’s Ekko and Jayce?”
“I have not found Jayce as of yet, but I did find Ekko and sent him back to his timeline about a week ago. We found some hextech fragments and were able to use them to jump through time and space.”
“So...I can get home too?”
“As soon as you’re ready. We built the machine in a young girl’s lab in the Undercity,” he looks between you, then Viktor, and finally your son. His attitude of urgency dissipates as he begins to understand. “But...I could not blame you if you want to stay longer.”
Your son Jayce comes running to join you, grabbing onto your leg, “Who’s this guy, Mommy?”
“This is Professor Heimerdinger, he used to work at the Academy,” you pat his head, “Your dad used to be his assistant.”
“I’m sure you already have a brilliant mind, my boy,” Heimerdinger says. “Your parents must be proud.”
Little Jayce giggles.
“Actually, I would very much like to see this new invention you’ve built, Professor,” Viktor speaks up. “I’m now quite intrigued by the prospect of other universes.”
“I have no rule against you observing, Viktor, but I’m sure you understand I must destroy it after we all get back. It is too dangerous to be left here unsupervised,” Heimerdinger’s tone becomes more serious. “I’m sure Y/N has told you of the destruction hextech caused in our universe, especially to you.”
“Of course, Professor. I understand.”
-
You’ve never seen the Undercity look this beautiful.
It seems that the other version of you comes here often, so many people wave to you and little Jayce automatically runs off with some kids his age to play.
You meet a blue-haired young lady named Powder, who helped Heimerdinger and Ekko in their experiments. She looks so familiar to you, but you can’t place where you’ve seen her in your reality.
Heimerdinger explains how it works, and both you and Viktor listen intently. With everything up and running, you could go back this instant.
The pull to go back is strong, like an obligation to return to your rightful place in the universe. But the pull to stay is equally strong, as you gaze into your husband’s beautiful amber eyes that you want to find solace in forever.
“It’s your choice, my love,” Viktor says, as if reading your mind.
“I know I need to go back…” you exhale, tears welling in your eyes once again. “But I don’t know what I’m going back to,”
“I don’t know either,” he caresses your face, “But I do know you are strong in every universe,”
“I’m not,” you shake your head, “Not without you.”
“Don’t say that,” his thumbs smooth across your cheeks.
You nod, turning towards the device.
“Could you…could you kiss me one last time?” you ask.
Viktor wastes no time honoring your request, crashing his lips to yours with lasting passion. He pulls away only as you back into the circle, leaving you with one last affectionate whisper:
“I’m so fortunate to have met another version of you, my love.”

Arcane Characters Hand Headcanons
Pairing: Jinx, Vi, Caitlyn, Maddie, Ekko, Vander, Silco, Sevika, Viktor, Jayce, Mel x Reader
Tags: fluff, size difference, hand-holding, scars, bruises, hand comparison, cuddles
Ko-Fi | Rules | Fandoms and Characters | Commissions
A/N: I remember there was a post where an artist drew the hands and made some headcanons in their drawings but I don't remember who the artist was. But that was my inspiration for this.
Tumblr media
JINX
Long and skinny fingers
Lots of calluses from tinkering with her weapons
A strong grip because of the Shimmer
If looking at her hands in the dark you can see Shimmer running through her veins
Has to constantly be told to be careful when working because she has no concept of safety and has come close to losing more fingers
VI
Her hands are really rough all over
bruises on her knuckles that never seem to heal because she's always fighting
A few bones have been broken over the years and healed haphazardly
Gets the biggest puppy-dog eyes if you take her hands and kiss each finger paying special attention to the bruises
You're the only one she trusts to help her wrap and unwrap her hands every day
CAITLYN
A lot of calluses on her hands, especially her fingers
She's been shooting with a riffle since she was young so the pads of her fingers are tougher than the rest of her hand
The skin on the pads if her fingers is hardened
Likes to wear gloves, which you will say is a shame
Knows you like her hands a lot, but she has a better grip on her guns with the gloves on
MADDIE
Her hands are dusted with little freckles
A bit small, perfect for hand-holding actually
Can crack her knuckles and she doesn't even realize she does it most of the time
Many faded scars from her time growing up and training in Noxus
Refuses to elaborate when you notice how scared her hands are, but if she gets to know you well enough and trusts you she might share a story or two
EKKO
Because he's always working his hands are really rough and even have a few burn marks
There are more than a few broken bones in his hands
Never healed well because he refuses to take Shimmer and it's a bit difficult to find good doctors in Zaun
Habit of tapping his fingers against surfaces, even your arm or back while you cuddle
To keep your relationship on the down-low he often holds your pinkie finger with his
VANDER
His hands are huge compared to yours, you have to use both to hold one of his
The strength he has could crush a man if he tried
Definitely a working man's hands, you can tell he's never skipped a work day in his life
Long faded scratches on his arms and wrists
Still enjoys punching things and has a big punching bag in his room, but he often forgets to wrap his hands, which makes them a bit bloody after
SILCO
For someone in Zaun he takes pretty good care of his hands
Cold compared to yours, like his body temperature isn't quite where it needs to be
Skinny, long fingers but he will paint his nails if you or Jinx ask him to
Takes care of himself so he never has dry hands despite how they look
Always places his hand over yours, it's a protective and possessive habit
SEVIKA
She only has one human hand left but she's reckless with that one too
Always fights so you always help her patch up the bruises and clean the blood
Marks from tearing off scabs or making them bleed again
Usually has a hard grip but softens it for you
Has a few ash burns from her cigarette, she doesn't always move it away in time
VIKTOR
He grew up in Zaun and then threw himself in lab work so he's not the best at taking care of his hands
Skinny, almost boney hands
Has a habit of biting his nails when he's thinking about something
Broke his fingers and wrists more than a few times
You always tell him to wear gloves but he never does, not because he doesn't think he shouldn't but because he doesn't remember
JAYCE
Big, meaty, rough hands, very strong
He always wears gloves when he works, be it the lab or the forge
And yet he still gets that slightly rougher skin, not fully though because he's really careful
Uses hand lotion when he finishes working, it's what makes his skin extra soft
Won't admit that he does it but when you hold hands he's doing math in his head and comparing the hand sizes
MEL
If she didn't tell you then you would have never guessed she grew up in Noxus because her hands are so smooth
Her hands are delicate, with really well manicured nails
Only when you look really close can you see just a few, very tiny cut marks but they're almost completely faded away
Enjoys getting hand massages from you and you complimenting her hands
Tickles you when she runs her nails across your skin

Viktor being an antagonistic figure towards both Piltover and Zaun is a poor writing decision for a number of reasons, some more obvious than others.
Of course, Arcane was never going to be a one to one of League lore, that much is clear from season one, but there was still a lot established that felt as though it would still lead to the character established in the games, Viktor especially.
Season one focuses heavily on his deteriorating relationship with Jayce, and his conflicting feelings towards Piltover, most obvious in both his terminal illness, and Piltover wanting to use his creation against Zaun, when his intentions had always been to use Hextech to help Zaun. Even though his lore is different, we can still see how Viktor would make the choices he does, and how choice is deeply important to his character as well.
‘There is always a choice.’ Is a line that sticks out to me, especially given the context it’s displayed in, with Viktor choosing to disarm Jinx’s bomb and thus choose to live.
The minute you take away Viktor’s choice and grey morality, you completely push aside everything about him that was established in season one, which is unfortunately what season two does.
Part of me thinks that the reason this was done is because to have Viktor question Piltover further, to have him present for Cait’s rise and the gassing of the Undercity and growing brutality towards its people, would mean that it would have to be acknowledged deeper, and that there would have to be actual consequences. Viktor’s arc cannot centre around the conflict of Zaun vs Piltover anymore, because to do so would mean actually addressing the horrifically inhumane acts of Piltover, and the centuries of oppression in a way that justified Zaun’s violence and anger.
Viktor’s arc cannot centre around him choosing to become the Machine Herald, because that would mean acknowledging that he has a right to be resentful and hurt, that the fact he was dying was caused directly by Piltover.
Viktor had to be removed from the main narrative until the end, which lost so much of his character and what made him interesting in the first place.
And back to my initial point as I fear I’ve strayed from it. Viktor simply doesn’t work as this all-powerful antagonistic force that brings the cities together, because it erases the fact he’s a Zaunite from the narrative, and here his people are, dying in enforcer uniforms because of him. Viktor’s actions don’t feel like a choice here.
Another issue with him as this force is that magic doesn’t work as the main threat in Arcane, as I feel like a key part of season one was how Jayce and Viktor adapted magic into technology, and how humans wielded it, and the double-edged sword of technological advancement: healing vs violence.
Again, Viktor’s character and conflict is erased by centring him around magic.
Another less obvious point I think is both finale’s centre around the actions of a singular Zaunite. Jinx destroys the council, which causes them to backtrack on peace, as the action of one person from the Undercity in their eyes is the action of them all, as that’s what they expect from them. It’s similar with Viktor, except, because he has help from Noxus, it’s seen more as an outside threat, and so the show again doesn’t have to address how Piltover actually feels about Zaun.
If it was just Viktor attacking, he’d be the same as Jinx.
Not sure if I’ve worded that last bit as well as I did the rest, but I hope it does make sense.
All in all it just leaves a bitter taste in my mouth, and I think Viktor should have had a season long arc of him becoming the Machine Herald — I really do.

So if you consider that it took Wizard Viktor interceding with Jayce to get him to kill Cult Leader Viktor to successfully save the world, then I think that makes it obvious that in most other universes, Jayce joins Viktor.
Which means that in most other universes, it is astral plane Viktor and Jayce who explore the mental cosmos together trying to heal Vander.
It usually is Jayce working side by side with Viktor in the commune, with Jayce being the one working in the blacksmith forge there.
It usually is them working together as partners towards the Glorious Evolution, he doesn’t need to be convinced in the Council Chamber.
Which on the one hand, is possibly why Viktor is so confused over and over at Jayce turning him down, shooting him in the commune despite Viktor peacefully leading him to the heart of it by the hand, or in the Council Chamber when Jayce says no to him, possibly for the first time in Viktor’s life, and it shocks Viktor so badly he goes full villain arc.
But part of me also wonders if, on a psychic level, Viktor sensed that in every other universe, Jayce joined him. If he sensed that something was missing and wrong when he imagined Sky to be his companion instead as the next logical best thing, when he had a blacksmith forge in his commune that was staffed by cultists instead, when he went to the Council Chamber for one last plea and didn’t forcibly assimilate Jayce, never imagining it wouldn’t work, sensing that it should work.
In every other universe it does work. You can tell because Jayce has to fight himself with every fiber of his being, he has to deny his most basic instincts and truest self to say no, even with everything he knows!
It’s what made the Hexcore trap so effective I think. In every other universe, it gets Jayce and Viktor, working together as partners the way they always wanted towards its goals. It’s everything they both wanted. It is the most effective trap for them. It works so well that only someone with full knowledge of what to do and what went wrong in every other universe, every other trap that was laid for them with perfect knowledge of who they are and what they want, could possibly thread the needle of getting them both to the other side and sparing the world in the process.

You know what time it is: Arcane trailer dissection time!!
Just your old Arcane obsessed terminally online person reviewing the most interesting screens (biased) from the teaser that just dropped.
Tumblr media
Mamma Medarda just looks DOPE as FUCK in this mask, nothing else to say. She seems to be speaking to Mel, which would indicate she survives, which I hope for. We're clearly dealing with a soft Noxus invasion given the prevalence of Ambessa's troops.
Tumblr media
Very interesting to see these troops activating. You have to wonder if they're a failsafe to Silco dying, or if they are being activated by Silco loyalists.
Tumblr media
Not doing our girl any favours with that one.
Tumblr media
VERY interesting to see Singed getting arrested in a teaser, because that hints it'll happen early on. I figure then that Warwick's escape would probably happen early as well. We may be looking at Singed and Heimerdinger old pal reunions weee
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gotta wonder if he ACTUALLY gets captured though, because Warwick might be a great get out of arrest card.
Tumblr media
SEVIKA!!! WITH!! jINX'S GUN!!! I first though for SURE she must have stolen it, or found it, but do you know what?? She has a custom made Jinx arm!!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It doesn't seem haphazard, even if it's ungainly. There's a non zero chance that these two are united by Silco's death, instead of split apart!
Tumblr media
This strike is clearly showing Medarda's fist. Mommy will be VERY active in this early on.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The previous fist image with projectile launch happens right after those shots. I wonder if that contraption has anything to do with Medarda instead of Jinx or someone else, because poison (spilling from the mouth?) is also a very Noxian thing (thank you, Singed)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What's with Smeech getting SUCH a highlight? What a dope design. Also that shot is the same colours and location style as Sevika shooting with her Jinx augment, so I am wondering if Sevika won't be the one killing him.
Tumblr media
Freedom fight Jinx style art? Wow. With blue haired minions behind her? Unexpected! I wonder what Ekko and his firelights think about this, and whether they'll take her in despite everything. This seems to be very Zaun vs. Piltover now.
Tumblr media
Our only proof of Viktor in season 2. He's in the Zaun depth with caped figures, most likely shimmer addicts. I wonder if the explosion is him saving them and starting his machine cult, or him defending himself. Anyway, he survives, and I also wonder how many physical augments he needs to heal himself from the explosion, courtesy of the hex core?
Tumblr media
Of course the only proof we need that Jayce is alive is that Cait has an Arcane sniper rifle. I don't see Viktor making her one after the explosion........
All in all, interesting stuff!!

Part 7 Blood, Fur and Magic
Vampire Viktor x reader x Werewolf Jayce
Warnings: Vampire things, werewolf things, light swearing, possessiveness, smut, sexual, intimacy, poly relationship, angst, violence, swearing
Previous part <-
Tumblr media
Once you managed to get home Jayce was instantly in bed body exhausted from the full moon. Viktor sat with him well mainly was forced to sit with him as the werewolf dragged him to his bed and laid on top of him. Viktor had huffed but let him before gently calling out to you but you were in your room head going over the vision you’d seen. That couldn’t be right, not like this, not when you were so close, not when you’ve just gotten Viktor back. Why would you all turn on each other? You’d never do that, not that you saw yourself but that giant explosion the remnants of magic felt like your magic, did something happen to you in the future? Did you make that explosion cause the rift between you all? You try to sleep during the day while Jayce is passed out and Viktor works in the lab. You stare at the runes on your body, gently moving your once broken leg now healed in record time. You get up finding no sleep you lean against the door frame watching Viktor frown at some notes on the desk before he sees you and his face softens.
“Couldn’t rest?” He asks and you shake your head hesitantly moving closer to him. He swivels his chair so it faces you his hands resting on your hips.
“The vision?” He asks and you nod a small frown on his face.
“Accept the bond? What does that even mean?” You sigh tense again.
“We’ll figure it out sweet thing” Viktor soothes gently tugging you closer till you give in and sit in his lap. He hums one arm around your waist before he turns back to his desk. His fingers trace patterns on your back while he works and you just lean against him head on his shoulder.
“Is- is your leg ok?” You ask and he tenses a bit before relaxing.
“There’s no pain, my illness is gone, my leg is normal,” he says.
“That’s a good thing?” You mutter not taking his tone as good.
“Different,” he says.
“I deal with other things, sun sensitivity, I can hear your blood in your veins” he mutters his breath on your neck momentarily.
“A deep hunger in my stomach all the time” he adds.
“Do you need to feed again?” You ask and he chuckles softly deep and rich.
“No Miláček, I’m alright” You frown at the word he used not having heard it before. He hums softly in thought his fingers still tracing idly on your back, the sound of pencil on paper filling the room. He moves his head every now and then his lips ghosting over your skin making you shiver every time. You hear movement from the bedroom next door and see a half-asleep Jayce stumbling and leaning against the door frame running a hand over his face his eyes not even open.
“You ok?” You ask as he blinks his eyes open. He stares at you for a moment in Viktor’s lap before he smiles lazily.
“I am now” he says and you flush glaring at him as he comes over and cups your cheek gently moving a strand of hair.
“Thank you” he says leaning down his lips pressing against your temple then kissing Viktor’s head.
“For what?” You ask lifting your head.
“Following me, you made the shift easier I didn’t feel as wild” he says and you smile a bit before he frowns.
“You had a vision though,” he says and you tense in Viktor’s hold before feeling Viktor’s lip against your shoulder again.
“It was horrible” you mutter.
“You were at opposite ends, armed to the teeth,” you say.
“And that explosion- I think it was me you were separated because of me and now” you sigh running a hand through your hair.
“You think you brought us apart?” Viktor says leaning back to look at your face.
“Yes, somehow my magic exploded and I forced you apart as enemies” You feel tears in your eyes for a moment.
“Hey, look at me” Jayce cups your cheek strong gentle hand warm against it.
“You will never be the reason for that ok? Never” he says sincerely making you blink a few tears away which he quickly wipes.
“But what if I am, what if we don’t figure out what this bond is- I wouldn’t live with myself if that happened” You start to cry feeling at a loss you didn’t want the two people you loved most in the world enemies because of you. Viktor hushes you gently resting your head on his shoulder again his fingers cradling your head.
“You’ll never break us apart sweet thing, you’re the reason we’re all together” Viktor soothes but it doesn’t help the clenching of your heart.
You throw yourself into trying to figure out what these mysterious mages meant. You went to the library searching for anything mage or arcane magic related before bringing all the books home and lying on your bed reading each one. Jayce and Viktor worked with you in hopes of figuring out what the runes meant on your body as well as who these mages were. You tried to bring on the vision, sleeping, meditating, randomly putting your hand on either Jayce or Viktor or anything in the house and nothing happened. It was driving you insane, the lack of knowledge and cryptic words the mages used swirling in your head.
You hear Jayce and Viktor talking in the next room you’re too focused on reading to hear what they say before they both walk in.
“What is it?” You ask not looking up. Viktor moved with unnatural speed putting all your books neatly in a pile off the bed making you raise an eyebrow.
“You need a break” Jayce states and you sigh.
“No I need to figure this out before anything bad happens” you say looking back to your book. As Jayce sighs your name he pinches the bridge of his nose.
“A couple of hours,” Viktor says.
“Please” he adds his unnatural eyes staring at you making you huff and slam your hook shut.
“Fine” you grumble and Jayce grins.
“Get dressed” he says and you grumble but do as he says. Viktor wears a hooded robe covering his body, while Jayce wears a simple white shirt and tan pants. You wear a long sleeve shirt and pants making sure your runes are covered.
“We look like idiots” you comment.
“Everyone in Piltover has a weird fashion sense” Jayce grins making you roll your eyes.
“Viktor looks like a monk, I look like I don’t feel the heat and you look like you’re about to go on vacation” Viktor chuckles beside you.
“She’s not wrong” he says and you feel yourself smiling.
“There it is” Jayce says with a big smile making you huff at him but continue to smile. You go to a less well-known bakery and order some food and drink though Viktor orders nothing. He takes his hood off inside the windows tinted enough for him not to be bothered by the sun.
“Your hair is getting longer” You reach out without thinking gently touching Viktor’s hair.
“Is it?” He asks moving his hand to touch his hair on the other side.
“Right you can’t see it anymore” You chuckle softly lowering your hand and he gives you a small peek of fang in tease.
“You’re staring Jayce” Viktor comments as you look at Jayce who is indeed staring.
“Can’t I stare?” He asks cheekily making Viktor roll his eyes.
“You look like a homeless man” You poke his pride and he fakes hurt holding his hand to his chest.
“It’s roguish,” he says.
“Roguish?” You raise an eyebrow sipping your drink.
“Mhm” he hums making you laugh and shake your head.
“She’s beautiful when she laughs,” Viktor says softly to Jayce like you’re not right there.
“Mm, she is” Jayce says voice lowering a little making you flush and kick both their legs under the table.
“And feisty” Jayce grins.
After you finish your food you wander the streets a little avoiding the crowded areas before heading home. It felt strange to do such mundane things, but it was nice. You go to head to your room before a hand catches your wrist and you’re tugged to a hard chest.
“Really?” You say looking up to Jayce who smirks.
“You said a couple of hours” you add.
“Did I?” He comments.
“Well, Viktor did” you huff.
“Exactly” he smiles before he leans down. He’s a breath away before he stops his eyes searching yours before he presses his lips to yours. It still feels like a shock to your system when either one kisses you. You can feel Jayce’s scars on his lips his beard scratching you so deliciously. Jayce’s hand move down to hold your waist his other tilting your head to deepen the kiss. You make a small noise which only spurs him on more as you feel another set of cool hands on your body.
“You been stuck in your research too much” Viktor says by your ear his voice low and thick.
“You two do the same” you manage to pull away from Jayce’s lips.
“We’re scientists” Jayce reminds.
“So?” You say.
“You’re not” Viktor smirks behind you his lips against your neck.
“I may not be a scientists scientist but I’m-“You break off at Viktor’s lips against your neck causing you to shudder.
“You were saying?” Viktor whispers in your ear gently nibbling your ear lobe. You let out a shaky breath before Jayce’s lips are on yours again.
“Even scientists need to relax” He murmurs against your lips tugging you closer to his body. You wrap your arms around his neck for balance as you feel Viktor’s slender fingers go under your shirt his cool skin meeting your heated flesh. You feel the hum of magic between you your runes glowing a light glow of blue in your hands that are tangled in Jayce’s hair. Small tendrils flick out around Jayce’s head and you open your eyes and stop.
“What is it?” Jayce asks frowning as you lower your hands. The tendrils return and disappear making you sigh.
“I can’t get- you know too… excited” You flush a bit.
“We haven’t tested it” Viktor says his thumbs gently stroking your sides.
“I don’t want to explode on you,” you say watching Jayce chuckle.
“Don’t laugh” you huff at him.
“I’m not, but you won’t explode as you put it, we’ll go slow if you want to continue,” Jayce says his gaze darkening a bit.
“If it gets too much we’ll stop” Viktor confirms placing a gentle kiss against your shoulder. Your heart pounds in your chest as you open your mouth and then close it again.
“Ok,” you mumble out seeing Jayce smirk briefly before his lips are on you again. Viktor’s hands slide up your shirt and sides his fingertips brushing over your skin making you shiver.
“So responsive” he whispers in your ear gently kissing at your neck as well. He moves his hands to your back gently unclasping your bra before he slides his hands back to your sides. He runs his hands over your sides, your stomach and hips before his thumbs touch the underside of your breasts. You take in a small breath leaning back from Jayce’s kiss.
“Can I?” Viktor asks voice lower and huskier. You manage a nod as you feel his fingertips brush past your nipples. The cool contrast of his fingers makes you shudder as Jayce’s lips descend to your neck. Viktor leans his head back so you can tilt your head for Jayce, his fingertips gently brushing over your nipples and breasts teasingly gently mapping them out.
“I wonder” he mutters to himself before you feel him pinch one of your nipples between his finger and thumb. You make a small hiss sound at the feeling and listen to Viktor’s low approving hum in your ear as he continues to gently pinch and trace your nipples. He gently squeezes each of your breasts before his fingers move down your stomach. Your body’s trembling lightly the thrum of magic in your veins a little faster, your runes a little brighter, it feels like a course of energy between the three of you as Viktor’s fingers tease the hem of your pants. Jayce lifts his head staring you in the eyes, his pupils are bigger his breathing is a little heavier as he watches you. You feel Viktor’s hand slide under your waistbands and lower you feel yourself heat up at the touch before slender fingers slide through your folds. It makes you clench your jaw so as not to make a noise at the feeling of cool fingers against your heated sex. His fingers slide through feeling your wetness gently teasing your entrance before sliding back up to gently stimulate your clit. God, you think you might die here and now. Viktor’s gentle pressure and slow circles against your clit and Jayce’s eyes watching your every expression like you’re a piece of art.
“Is she wet?” Jayce asks voice breathless.
“Soaking” Viktor hums and Jayce lets out a small growl that isn’t entirely human before he kisses you roughly. You feel how tense Jayce is verging of beast than man you slide your hands up his arms your magic gently coaxing his muscles to relax and they do. He slows the kiss whispering a ‘thank you’ against them. Your body trembles a little more at Viktor’s fingers increasing their pace and pressure ever so slightly.
“I can smell how wet you are” Jayce growls softly against your lips and you find it the hottest thing he’s ever said. Viktor teases increasing his pace a little quicker in a flick making you shudder and lean against him more for support before he slows again.
“Hold her up” Jayce says and you frown watching the man go to his knees your cheeks becoming ten times hotter.
“I need to taste you so bad” he says voice raspy as he takes off your pants and underwear helping you step out of them. Viktor’s fingers don’t move but you feel him smirk against your neck when his lips press there.
“Spread your legs for him” Viktor whispers and you find yourself whimpering and doing as he says. Jayce helps you hooking your leg over his shoulder his breath fanning your pussy.
“Fuck” Jayce swears before his tongue darts out and swipes over your entrance. The feeling makes you arch and shake before he lets out another animalistic growl and begins to feast.
“Jayce-!” You moan fulling leaning on Viktor now as your legs shake and Jayce’s tongue eagerly laps at your juices while Viktor’s fingers circle your clit quicker. You feel a little overwhelmed by Jayce’s tongue and Viktor’s fingers, you can see your runes pulsing in time with your heartbeat and see tendrils of magic around your body. You grip Jayce’s hair needing something to hold onto and he lets out another growl face pressing closer to your pussy. You shudder and pant barely able to hold yourself up.
“So beautiful” Viktor says in your ear and you let out a small whine gripping Jayce’s hair a little harder without meaning to. The tension builds in your body and lower stomach, your head resting on Viktor’s shoulder, Jayce gripping your thighs tightly to hold you still.
“Jayce” you stutter out and he hums against your entrance making you moan.
“She’s close” Viktor says and Jayce seems to double his efforts if possible. You feel your stomach coil and then release in a shock, you moan your orgasm crashing through you. You see a pulse of blue light and hear each man moan loudly. Jayce pulls back panting heavily face flushed beard glistened as he glanced down at his darkened pants.
“Fuck” he mutters.
“I felt it too” Viktor moans as you barely register their words.
“Felt what?” You say still panting heavily.
“We felt your pleasure, rush through us like a bolt” Jayce pants and you frown looking down at him. You flush seeing the darkened path on his pants and the light shake on Jayce’s face.
“I’m sorry,” you say.
“Don’t be sorry sweet thing, your magic is connected to us somehow” Viktor soothes still holding you up.
“I could feel my stomach tighten in time with you, feel your orgasm tear through you then me” Jayce shivers. You frown a bit turning your head to glance at Viktor. He smirks and takes your hands pressing it to his pants where you can feel a wet patch too making you flush.

Jayce and Viktor Dating Someone with ADHD • Headcanon
Tumblr media
(Gif not mine)
Request: Hiiii how are you? I love your stories so I was wondering if you could write more jayvik x reader but who has adhd? TYSMM -- anon and Your Jayvik + reader headcanons have me are giddy and are healing my soul. Is it possible to ask for a some headcanons with a reader who has ADHD and also forgets to eat because of it?? I hope your day is kind to you! -- anon
Warnings: gn!reader, reader has ADHD, mentions of food and eating/not eating, these are lowkey kinda short im so sorry lol
A.N: Disclaimer: I don't have ADHD but I have many friends that do and while ADHD presents itself differently for people, I tried to keep this a bit generalized, I hope that's ok!! If anything needs changing or needs to be deleted for being inaccurate or anything, just let me know! Hope you guys enjoy!!
Jayce and Viktor are both very understanding people, so when you told them you had ADHD they didn’t have a problem with it. They are, however, problem solvers (they are inventors with the dream of making Piltover and Zaun better for the people), meaning they are very curious about your habits and how they can help. They don’t want to “cure” you, because there’s nothing to cure, but they want to understand how to reassure you and how to make living with ADHD easier on a day-to-day basis
If you’re someone who fidgets with things a lot, Jayce will happily pick up the task of making something that satisfies your need to occupy your hands and your thoughts. He loves being in the forge and he’ll gladly let you sit in there with him and listen to you describe what you would want. He’ll sit next to you, sketching out the design while you ramble about what textures are better than others or how weighty it should feel in your hand. Jayce honestly loves this little side project; not only does it let him work on something other than his research, but it also puts a smile on your face
If you like rambling for hours about your latest hyperfixation, Viktor is the best for that. He has a naturally curious mind and would love to learn something new. He especially likes it when your head is resting on his chest in the middle of the night. Viktor likes watching you move your hands as you talk excitably about the plant life in Ionia or the history of the Yordles. He doesn’t just listen—he’ll ask you questions or give you reading material he thinks you may like as well
Going to Council parties or even just walking through Piltover can really overwhelm you sometimes, either with all the noise or the texture of your clothing feeling off, so your partners are very attentive to your wellbeing. The three of you set up a codeword for anyone to use when someone needs or wants to leave. They try to make it something funny every time to hopefully ease the panic a little bit. Usually Jayce and Viktor are glued to either side of you hip, but in the off chance they have to roam around the room, the two of them will try to keep an eye on you. They will always reassure you that it's ok that they are leaving these sorts of events early (Viktor barely wants to go in the first place), and when you get home the three of you will do something to calm everyone down and get into comfortable clothes
Having ADHD, you tend to get distracted/forget to do certain things. This usually includes eating. Your partners never want to seem overbearing or like they're smothering you, so they will try to subtly remind you to eat/do certain things. Jayce likes writing you little notes and putting them in the apartment. Usually they have little hearts in the corners with some encouraging remark after "remember to eat!" Viktor will usually try to eat with you, so you won't feel alone while eating. He'll be making something and he'll set the table for either two or three and that just reminds you to actually sit down and eat what Viktor makes
Your partners are very patient and are always open to new ideas. if you want them to do something different or if something works really well, they would love to hear it. They absolutely will not be mad at all, they love you so much and all they want to do is help make things easier for you

The Game of Teaching Body - Ch. 6.
Tumblr media
viktorxfemale!reader mature! (for now, I will mark later chapters as explicit when the time comes)
AU university, AU modern era, slow burn, frenemies to lovers, teasing, pinning, banter, eventual romance and therefore smut, Viktor is simultaneously a menace and needs a hug, TA Viktor
Ch.1. | Ch.2. | Ch.3. | Ch.4. | Ch.5. | Ch.7. | Ch.8. | Ch.9. | Ch.10. | Ch.11. | Ch.12.
word count: 5K
tag: #the game of teaching body
summary: ok, so my notes on AO3 reminded me how actually this fic crawled into my brain and it was with Drugs in Our Body. So, what should happen after this chapter is whatever happens in DiOB - it serves as somewhat floating chapter. The story can be read without it, but there might be some gaps in the next and future chapters, as I reference it briefly. So, it's ch.6. -> DiOB -> ch.7. I hope that makes sense, I don't know who I think I am, doing this kind of stuff.
Cross-posted on AO3 + POV3rd Person Version
“A C?” you gasped as you opened your paper, the glaring red C screaming at your incompetence. How could this happen? You’d worked on it for an entire week. You turned the paper around, desperate for any explanation, but all you found was Heimerdinger’s poetic scrawl: ‘Not entirely botched but needs more work. Seek and you shall find, Y/N. You can give me a fix-up if you want a higher grade.’
“Don’t worry, I got a D,” Sue sighed, her arms falling to her sides, the paper crumpled in one hand. She hadn’t put in nearly as much effort, spending most of the week hanging out with Alice and doing what she smugly referred to as “girl stuff.”
“Yes, but I put in about a month’s worth of research for this,” you muttered, the frustration spilling out before you could stop it. You caught Sue’s glare and quickly backtracked. “I’m not saying you didn’t! I just… I don’t understand.”
“Well, he says you can fix it. He didn’t say that on mine, look,” Sue said, holding up the crumpled paper. The note read: ‘Not bad. Could be better. Pay more attention to details next time. H.’
“You could ask Viktor for help?” Sue offered faintly; her eyebrows raised. You inhaled sharply, preparing to unleash a tirade of insults about why that was the absolute last thing you would ever do. But before you could, Sue hastily amended, “Or Jayce! He has office hours in the afternoon, or so I’ve heard.”
“I… guess you’re right,” you said, letting out the breath you’d been holding. Seeing Viktor in class was already more than enough to deal with. He acted as if nothing had happened, which only made you more furious. That anger had sharpened even further when Angus had texted to ask you out for coffee, leaving your stomach tied in knots as you agreed.
You met him at a cosy pub near campus, the same one you used to frequent with Hale, Sue, Jayce, Mel, and, well… Viktor—though only because he was coerced, not because you wanted him there. Angus asked you question after question, and you found it surprisingly easy to talk to him. You told him funny stories about your parents being new age freaks, about how much you loved your mum’s Polish cooking, and how your dad had kept you in a strict yoga routine since you were six, grooming you to take over his practice.
You admitted how you’d chosen genetics instead, a quiet rebellion against your mum’s recall healing teachings—only to discover there was some truth to them, realising that everything in the universe was connected.
Angus was fascinated. He told you about his three brothers, who’d gone into law and programming, and how he was the family’s scapegoat. He spoke warmly about his close bond with his mum and his dream of running a facility to help kids overcome trauma through theatre and dance.
You praised him for it, but when he misread your words as an invitation and leaned in to kiss you, you froze. He stopped, eyebrows raised, waiting for you to explain. All you could manage was a clumsy explanation that you’d had a wonderful time, but it made you realise you needed to sort out your own issues first.
He laughed, a soft, knowing sound. “I had a feeling it wasn’t going to be straightforward,” he said lightly.
He seemed like the kind of guy who could easily find someone else, but the thought still left your heart aching. And somehow, it was all Viktor’s fault.
The way he never asked about any of those things. The way he only asked where you were from to wind you up.
You braced yourself through the day, slogging through classes and lectures with the weight of that damned paper gnawing at you. By the time the sky turned dark, you found yourself reluctantly heading back to the science lab, resolved to ask Jayce for help. It felt strange to ask him instead of Viktor—like you were dodging some inescapable fate.
Jayce had always been approachable, quick to befriend the “fresh meat.” If there were any rules about student-TA relationships, he seemed to ignore them with a confidence that made you smile. Viktor, on the other hand… well, he was a different beast entirely.
Stuffing a banana into your mouth as you walked, you caught a glimpse of your reflection in one of the school’s tall windows. Not great, but not tragic either. The real issue was the way your face—mid-chewing—gave away just how much crying you’d been doing. It was painfully obvious, even to you.
You barged into the TA’s office without a second thought. “Hey, Jayce, do you have some time to take a look at this?” you asked, your focus entirely on digging through your bag, where the cursed paper had been unceremoniously shoved earlier.
But when you looked up, you froze.
The person at the desk wasn’t Jayce. It was Viktor.
He glanced up at you, eyebrows raised in surprise at your abrupt entrance. And there it was—already forming—the smirk you hated so much. Before he could unleash one of his insufferable remarks, you scrambled to backtrack.
“Shit, sorry. I thought it was Jayce’s hours. I’ll come back some other time,” you blurted, already halfway out the door.
“Please, don’t be ridiculous,” he said, standing up too quickly, his hand wobbling on his cane. You saw it but decided not to step in to help. “I can take a look.”
His voice carried a careful edge, and you hesitated. You didn’t trust him—not after the last time. He had crossed a line, and you’d felt the sting of it for days. He knew it too. He saw it in the way your body tensed every time he leaned over your workbench in class to offer advice, advice you now refused to take. He saw it now, in the faint swelling of your face, the traces of tears you hadn’t managed to hide.
He knew it had been wrong the moment you stormed out of his office that day, leaving him slumped in his chair with a quiet “Shit,” slipping from his mouth.
Now, as you lingered in the doorway, Viktor saw a chance to make amends. He wasn’t going to let it slip through his fingers.
You eyed him suspiciously before finally handing over the paper, reluctant and still keeping your distance. Viktor perched himself on the edge of the desk, flipping through your work, his sharp eyes scanning for Heimerdinger’s signature wisdom.
“Ah, right. He can’t be bothered to write more than this,” Viktor huffed, reading the vague ‘Seek and you shall find.’
“Thankfully, I made notes for you on this one,” he said, glancing up to meet your eyes. There was a genuine effort in his grin that made you uneasy.
“Wasn’t it supposed to be Jayce’s hours?” you asked, crossing your arms as you watched him pull a set of notes from his bag. Why would he make notes for you in advance? It didn’t add up. Was this some elaborate act to stage a redemption arc for himself?
“Why? Has your focus shifted already?” Viktor’s retort slipped out before he could stop it. The playful edge in his voice made your spine straighten, ready to snap back with a sharp response. But before you could, he quickly softened his tone.
“He’s sick,” Viktor said, his gaze steady, almost remorseful. “I’m covering for him.”
You didn’t know whether to believe him, but the vulnerability in his tone threw you off balance. For once, it seemed like Viktor wasn’t trying to wind you up—or at least, not entirely.
You didn’t say anything at first, but you leaned in closer, your gaze falling to the notes Viktor had spread out on the desk. That familiar scent of his—body wash, something clean and sharp, mingled with freshly washed wool—drifted to you. It was oddly comforting, though you couldn’t quite figure out why it felt so… intimate.
He tapped a finger on the first section of your paper, pointing to where you had rushed to conclusions, skipping the part where you should have explained how you’d arrived at your findings. “You’ve got solid results,” he said, his voice low and patient, “but Heimerdinger’s mark was his way of telling you that your argument is missing a crucial part. You skipped over how you proved your hypothesis—how you got to the results you did.”
You nodded, following his finger as he guided you through the mistakes you hadn’t even noticed before. His advice was precise, practical, and, oddly enough, warm. It wasn’t just about correcting your errorsit was the care he was taking with you. He wasn’t simply telling you what was wrong; he was showing you how to fix it, step by step, as though it actually mattered to him.
“This part here,” Viktor continued, tapping another section, “it’s the hardest part for most students. The construction of the paper—the logic of it. That’s what gets people. You didn’t make any mistakes in your research or results. It’s just the way you laid everything out. This is the part most academics struggle with. It just takes practice.”
You swallowed, warmth rushing through your chest. You couldn’t tell if it was the unexpected kindness or the fact that he was taking the time to explain everything so thoroughly, but something inside you shifted. Your shoulders relaxed, and the tension you’d been carrying eased, just a little.
For a moment, you let your guard down. You allowed yourself to actually listen, to trust in what he was saying. But as his steady, warm tone settled over you, a flicker of confusion took hold. Was this real? Was he being this careful with you because he cared? Or were you just imagining it, reading too much into the moment?
Your mind raced, a swirl of emotions and doubts tumbling over one another. It had only been a few days since that… moment. You weren’t sure if you were holding on to the idea of it or if Viktor’s actions now were a sign that something had shifted between you.
You glanced at him. His focus was entirely on your paper, his expression neutral. But something in his eyes made your heart beat just a little faster. Was he really this warm, or was it just the warmth of the moment? You couldn’t tell.
“How is your hand?” he asked suddenly, pulling you out of your thoughts. His gaze drifted to the small bandage covering the alkaline burn from the other day. The question seemed to slip out unbidden, and you weren’t sure if you appreciated the reminder.
You blinked, thrown back to that moment by the sink: his voice sharp and cutting, his dark eyes boring into you, his fingers pressing gently against your wrist as his mouth asked, “Why are you not wearing gloves?”
Your pulse quickened as you quickly tugged your sleeve over the bandage, concealing the mark. “It’s fine,” you said, taking a step back.
He spoke your name softly, his hand darting out to stop you. This time, his movement wasn’t hesitant, wasn’t unsure, as it had been before. His fingers closed around your wrist—not roughly, but firmly enough that you couldn’t slip away.
He turned your hand palm-up and carefully began peeling the bandage away. The gentleness of the motion disarmed you, and you stood frozen, watching as his sharp eyes inspected the wound beneath.
You winced at the gesture, and Viktor presumed it was painful, though your face twisted more because here he was, exposing you once again. “Don’t be such a baby,” he chuckled.
“I could say the same to you,” you muttered under your breath. Viktor only shot you a glance, laced with a knowing smile.
“It’s looking good. Let it air out once in a while,” he said. This would be the moment to release your hand, but he couldn’t help himself; he held it for a little while longer. He was about to mention how you could always count on him for help with essays and long-term homework, just to cement the quiet truce between you. But you beat him to it.
“You don’t know the first thing about me.” It blurted out before you could stop it. It just shot out of your mouth like an overworked spring.
Viktor was taken aback. His mouth hung open for a moment as he processed your words. What exactly did you mean by that? It was a challenge you threw without thinking. But he could take it. The silence between you stretched, and when you started to retreat your hand, about to mutter an apology, he spoke, hesitantly.
“I… I know you’re half-Polish,” he said, offering a sheepish smile, as if apologizing for how he’d gathered this information. You shot him a glare, but Viktor wasn’t deterred.
“I also know you’re into genetics.” Your sigh was almost audible. These were the things most people knew about you by now. But he wasn’t finished.
“I know that you know Hamilton by heart.” You raised an eyebrow, but he pressed on.
“I know you don’t abandon your friends when they need you. I know you’re ambitious, smart, and funny. I know you laugh at silly, dry chemistry jokes. I know you chew on your pencil when you’re focused.” Your breath hitched slightly, but you stayed silent.
“I know…” he hesitated, his voice softening, “how warm your hands are when you get… excited.” He knew so much more about you but was too afraid to say it. He knew the feeling of your fingers on his scalp as you pulled him closer into a kiss. He knew the taste of your tongue and the sound of little gasps you made when he touched you. He memorized it all and replayed it over and over again in his mind.
You swallowed hard, feeling a strange mix of warmth and nerves twirling inside you. You didn’t speak, just looked at him, and Viktor, not certain about the effect of his confession, refused to meet your gaze. His touch on your hand was tender now, softer than before.
He cleared his throat, finally asking, “So… what do you know about me?” You blinked, thrown off by the question. You answered quickly, not thinking too much about it.
“I know you’re Czech… and that you’re a sad fart.”
Viktor couldn’t help but laugh at that, the sound light and unexpected in the air between you. You felt the tension lift, just a little, as you shared this strange, awkward moment. He released your hand and leaned back against the desk, looking at you with a raised eyebrow, his voice carrying a mix of humour and something more sincere.
“Well, it seems that we need to work on that. I’m so much more than a sad fart. I’m also a stiff, meticulous bastard, I’ll remind you.” He pointed a joking finger in your direction as you rolled your eyes.
“What do you have in mind, then?” you asked, your tone still guarded but tinged with curiosity.
“A… ceasefire?” Viktor suggested, his smile lingering, though his gaze softened slightly. “At least for now.”
Your lips twitched into a half-smile. “As long as you promise not to shoot me in the back.”
Viktor chuckled softly under his breath. “I might have a history of unsportsmanlike conduct, but perhaps we could… start over? Unless, of course, Angus…”
You raised an eyebrow at that, feeling a grin tug at the corners of your mouth. “Oh, you wish I told you,” you teased, your tone a playful challenge rather than an outright denial. “But yes, a ceasefire and a do-over I can accept. No dirty moves, Viktor.”
He leaned in ever so slightly, his voice still playful but with an edge of something deeper. “I solemnly swear.” He held up a hand in mock sincerity before smirking. “No dirty moves… this time.”
His gaze lingered on you, the teasing glint still present, but there was an undercurrent of something else in his tone. He wasn’t making it clear—what exactly were the two of you trying again? Was it just the tentative friendship, the awkward truce formed after your bickering? Or was it something more?
You couldn’t shake the feeling that he might be pushing for something beyond the ceasefire, though he wasn’t saying it outright. Perhaps it was just your imagination, overthinking again, but the uncertainty made you uneasy. You wanted to keep your distance, to hold the upper hand, but something in Viktor’s manner made you hesitate.
Your fingers brushed the edge of your notebook, a telltale sign of your nerves as you glanced up at him. “You’re really not going to elaborate, are you?” you asked, giving him a look that was equal parts challenge and curiosity.
Viktor shrugged, his expression a mix of amusement and caution. “What’s to elaborate? We’re starting over. That’s enough for now, isn’t it?”
You bit your lip, refusing to let him see how much his words made your pulse quicken. Instead, you smirked, masking the flutter of emotions beneath a calm exterior. “As long as you don’t get any funny ideas.”
His gaze softened slightly, though the teasing glint in his eyes remained. “No funny ideas. For now, anyway.” He straightened, placing his hands back on the desk, but the space between you still felt charged and unfinished.
***
To seal the deal, both you and Viktor made an equal effort to keep things neutral—meeting among friends, in public spaces, testing the waters of this truce. One such occasion found you at the pub with the usual group of six, an outing entirely orchestrated by Viktor.
He and Jayce weren’t exactly studying; instead, they were buried in notes, trying to distil their findings into a polished research summary for Heimerdinger. Across the table, Mel and Hale were prepping for their theatre history exam, their discussions frequently devolving into competitive banter as they lobbed historical facts at each other in an effort to outdo one another.
Sue, ever diligent, was rewriting her entire textbook into her notebook as if the act itself would cement the knowledge in her brain. Meanwhile, you were seated cross-legged on the floor, quietly working on your genetics paper, tuning out the chatter as best you could.
The group was a collage of concentration and lively exchanges when you simultaneously let out a yawn and your stomach grumbled loudly, the sound cutting through the general din of the pub.
Viktor’s eyebrows shot up, and he glanced at you over the rim of his notes, his tone wry as he spoke. “Feels like there is more than one need to address here.”
You shifted uncomfortably, feeling the heat rise to your cheeks. You quickly moved a hand over your belly as if to stifle the sound. “Uh, I don’t suppose they have sandwiches here?”
“They do!” Jayce chimed in enthusiastically, leaning forward with sudden interest. Food always seemed to pull his attention from whatever he was working on. “And not the worst ones, either.”
Viktor exhaled with a knowing sigh; his expression lightly amused. “Eh, they are… not bad,” he conceded. His tone softened, and he leaned slightly forward, tilting his head in your direction. “What say you?”
You hesitated for only a second before Viktor began rising from his seat. He moved with a kind of deliberate precision, setting his notes neatly onto the side table. You noticed how his gaze briefly flicked to Jayce’s writing, his lips twitching in approval before returning his focus to you.
“Uh, sure,” you said, already scrambling up from the floor. Your papers lay abandoned dangerously close to the pub’s cozy fireplace, but you didn’t notice. Instead, as you rose, you wobbled awkwardly, your leg prickling with the unmistakable sensation of pins and needles. You grabbed onto Hale’s shoulder for balance. “Sorry, my leg fell asleep.”
Viktor smirked, his hand resting lightly on the head of his cane as he stood. “Are you trying to copy me?”
You grinned despite yourself. “Totally. Can I borrow that?” You reached out toward his cane, your eyes glinting with playful defiance.
Viktor raised an eyebrow, his smirk deepening as he straightened his posture slightly. “You can try,” he said, holding the cane a fraction tighter as if to make a point. “But I warn you, it comes with certain… responsibilities.”
“Oh, I bet it does,” you quipped, brushing past him toward the bar. “I can see myself torturing students with such a vigilant symbol of authority,” you added, throwing him a smirk over your shoulder.
Viktor followed, limping slightly but keeping pace with you, his expression caught somewhere between amusement and exasperation as he shook his head.
Behind you, Jayce called out, “Grab me something too!” but neither you nor Viktor paid him any mind.
Hale sighed deeply, finally turning his head away from Mel, who had been poised to deliver another historical fact to outdo him. Instead, his gaze followed you and Viktor as you approached the bar.
“That,” Hale said, his voice low and contemplative, his eyes fixed on you and Viktor as you waited for your coffees at the counter, “will either be beautiful or tragic. Or both.”
“I’m sorry, what are we looking at?” Sue asked, peering over her notebook.
“Our dear friends poking at each other’s hearts,” Hale replied with theatrical solemnity, folding his arms dramatically.
Jayce let out a loud laugh, shaking his head. “Get out, Hale. Viktor would never.”
“Oh, he already did. Just… look at them,” Hale insisted, gesturing subtly in your direction.
Mel perked up, abandoning her train of thought on Renaissance theatre entirely. “Alright, that’s way more interesting than theatre history. Show me what you’re seeing.”
“Alright, kids,” Hale said, sitting up straighter and adopting the tone of a sage sharing forbidden wisdom. “I will share my magic with you, just this once. Look at Viktor. He’s already deep in. See how he’s leaning toward her? I bet he’s saying everything as quiet as possible, so she has to get closer.”
Four heads turned toward the bar, studying the scene unfolding by the counter. Sure enough, your head lingered close to Viktor’s mouth, your neck stretching slightly as though he were, indeed, telling you a quiet joke meant only for you to hear.
“Or,” Jayce countered, raising an eyebrow, “it’s loud in here, and he’s favouring the good leg.”
“Quiet, unbeliever,” Hale dismissed him with a dramatic wave of his hand. “Now, pay attention. Look at his hand. It’s hovering over her, see? He touches her every so often—nothing dramatic, just enough to remind her he’s there.”
The group watched as Viktor’s hand brushed your arm, subtle but deliberate, before retreating again.
“And now,” Hale continued, lowering his voice for effect, “he’s going to make her look. Watch how he gestures toward the bar—something he said, no doubt very clever—and there it is. She’s looking at his hand.” Your gaze flicked down to Viktor’s hand as he emphasized his point, your expression a mix of amusement and concentration.
“Now, notice her,” Hale said, leaning forward conspiratorially. “She’s holding back, but she’s doing that thing she does when she likes someone. See how she doesn’t look directly at him when he talks? Instead, she leans toward him, like she’s pulled by a magnet.”
Right on cue, you tilted your head slightly toward Viktor, though your eyes remained fixed elsewhere.
“And now,” Hale declared with a triumphant grin, “he’ll look away, and she’ll steal a glance. Ah! There it is.” He pointed as your gaze darted to Viktor’s face the moment his attention shifted elsewhere.
“And what is she looking at, you ask?” Hale continued, his tone dripping with faux gravity. “She’s checking if he’s comfortable with her. Or, in Viktor’s case, if he’s in pain. Watch her eyes.”
Sure enough, your gaze swept over Viktor’s posture, subtly assessing the way his body shifted against the cane.
“And now, for the dramatic finale,” Hale announced, holding up a hand as if to quiet an invisible audience. “He will pass her the first cup of coffee, and she will take it from his hand. That way, they’ll touch—skin on skin. And…”
The group collectively held their breath, eyes fixed on the bar. Viktor handed you a cup, your fingers brushing briefly.
“She’ll look at him and make a joke,” Hale continued confidently, “and—yes, there it is.”
You said something with a wry smile, your eyes glinting, and Viktor’s laugh followed—a soft, genuine sound that made his shoulders relax.
“And now,” Hale finished with a flourish, “he’s shoving four sugar packets into his coffee while she’s not looking. I guess that’s just Viktor being gross.”
Sue stifled a laugh, Mel smirked, and Jayce shook his head in disbelief.
“And this,” Hale said, leaning back triumphantly, “ladies, gentlemen, and beautiful creatures, is the cautious love that we are lucky enough to witness blooming before our very eyes.”
“With your voiceover, it feels like spying on someone having sex, Hale,” Mel quipped, arching an eyebrow.
“Exciting, isn’t it?” Hale replied, completely unfazed, a satisfied grin spreading across his face. Reading people was his superpower, and he had seen through Viktor the first day they all met in the very pub that was now their place of refuge. You, he knew by heart.
“Man, you are frightening,” Jayce whispered loudly. “Watching this careful study, well… maybe you’re right, but I wouldn’t get my hopes up,” he added, glancing toward the bar. He hurriedly returned to his notes, mindful that you and Viktor would be back any second and shouldn’t know what had just transpired. Feeling the weight of three questioning stares, he sighed and elaborated, “Viktor does more of… guest performances rather than full seasons, if you catch my meaning.”
“Oh, let him try a guest performance with my darling girl, and I will shove his cane up his—” Hale’s expression shifted instantly from threatening to sickeningly sweet as he noticed you eyeing him from the distance. “Did you get what your heart desired, my love?”
“I suppose. What are you guys talking about?” you asked, your gaze sweeping suspiciously over the group before landing briefly on Viktor. You sent him a silent question, but he didn’t seem to notice, too absorbed in his meticulous effort to sweeten his coffee.
“Nothing… Renaissance theatre history… lip gloss,” came a broken chorus of voices in response.
Your eyebrows shot even higher on your forehead. “Uh… as you wish, weirdos,” you dismissed, focusing on your sandwich instead.
The group fell into a brief silence, the kind that crackled with unspoken thoughts, pens scribbling, papers being shuffled around. Jayce kept glancing toward Viktor one time too many, his eyebrows furrowing as if he were trying to decode something. Viktor’s patience snapped first.
“What?” Viktor asked, irritation colouring his tone. “Do I have something on my face?”
Jayce blinked, startled. “Huh? No, just… never mind,” he muttered, hurriedly returning to his notes. Was it possible for his friend to have a thing with you and never mention it?
Before the awkward moment could deepen, Sue suddenly jolted upright as if struck by lightning. “Shit! I need to pack!” she exclaimed, shoving her notebook into her bag with alarming speed. She leaned over to you, kissed your forehead dramatically, and declared, “Don’t do anything stupid while I’m away.”
You rolled your eyes, chewing on your sandwich. “No promises.”
Sue hesitated for a split second, her gaze flickering briefly toward Viktor before snapping back to you. “Or do,” she added with a sly grin, winking.
You snorted, shaking your head. “Have a nice weekend, Sue.”
“You too!” Sue called over her shoulder, already halfway out the door.
Once she was gone, Jayce tilted his head curiously. “Where’s she off to?”
You swallowed your bite and shrugged. “Spending the weekend with her dad. Family bonding time, you know how it is.”
Viktor, who had been stirring his coffee in a slow, thoughtful rhythm, glanced at you. “So, you are alone for the entire weekend?”
You met his gaze, an eyebrow arching. “That’s right. Why? Got something in mind?”
Viktor’s lips curved into the faintest hint of a smirk, but all he said was, “Maybe.”
You tilted your head, your eyes narrowing playfully. “Careful, Viktor. As a wise man once said, too much love can kill you.”
Jayce, who had been sipping his drink, choked on a laugh, sputtering as he tried to regain his composure. Viktor’s brows knitted together in confusion for a moment. He rested his chin on his hand, mulling it over until realization dawned. He straightened, looking at you with mild disbelief.
“Wait,” he said slowly, his voice laced with both amusement and incredulity. “Did you just quote Meatloaf at me?”
You grinned wickedly, your eyes glinting with mischief. “What can I say? I have range.”
Jayce laughed again, shaking his head. “I can’t decide if that’s impressive or completely unhinged.”
“Unhinged,” Viktor replied flatly, though the corners of his mouth twitched in betrayal of a suppressed smile.
You raised your sandwich in a mock toast. “I’ll take that as a compliment.”
“Of course you would,” Viktor muttered, taking a long sip of his now overly sweetened coffee.
But as if taking your cautionary tale seriously, Viktor didn’t reach out to you at all on Friday evening or Saturday. You had half-expected a witty text or some excuse to drop by, but your phone remained stubbornly silent.
You told yourself you didn’t care. If Viktor wanted to brood or busy himself with his mysterious projects, that was his problem, not yours. You weren’t going to waste your weekend waiting for him to decide otherwise. So, when you overheard someone in the dorm hall mentioning a party on the third floor that evening, you figured it was better than wallowing in boredom.

Thinking about how a “Jayce joins the commune” universe would be all the more horrifying in a way? Especially if it stayed in that middle place of “something isn’t quite right but they’re not harmful to anyone” sort of way. Because Viktor was easily getting people to heal on his own; Vi and Jinx heard about him, Lest heard about him, and it was clearly spoken positively enough for Vi to not only consider it but also want to stay and help (though that is her characterization and also a separate conversation).
Because like. If people heard Jayce Talis, of all people, followed his partner down into Zaun and was part of the team healing people from probable death and reversing paralyzation, there would likely be a lot more people coming down to see. Which makes me wonder: in this time, is there a limit to who Viktor is willing to heal? Addictions (as well as their effects) and other physical ailments?
Is he also considering mental ailments? Is that what Vander technically fell under? (Besides, ya know, the whole wolf body thing?). With that, given Sky tells Viktor that there are limits, and Singed in one interaction is aware that Viktor’s power is limited, would Jayce being there (and being equal partnership) have a stronger impact on who/what Viktor heals?
So, having Jayce as his other half, someone tangible and someone he’s always listened to, trusts, telling him yes/no for certain people, aka limiting who he heals to protect Viktor, would certainly cause another conflict entirely. There’s these two men, former owners and creators of hextech, who now can heal anyone and anything, who have a commune of peace, BUT you have to be a certain amount of sick to be healed.
That would be a whole other conflict in itself I think.

INITIAL THOUGHTS ON ARCANE SEASON 2 ACT 1 (EPISODES 1-3)
(i’m not good at putting my thoughts into words so feel free to give your own opinions, i rlly wanna hear them)
SPOILERS AHEAD///
ok so my biggest critique is the pacing. everything is very quick very fast and a lot is going on. i understand that this is immediately after a large event which of course caused a reaction however it was just very intense and a lot to keep up with especially considering the amount of new and confusing things introduced throughout the three episodes with minimal slow down. it was alittle difficult to keep up. the timeline of the show is confusing and i have no idea how long it has been between scenes. viktor was barely in that weird healing chamber for a few scenes before he was emerging as someone new. caitlyn and vi were going from loving to fighting to understanding to fighting again very quickly with little time to develop independently, their kiss and divorce weren’t even 30 minutes apart from each other. also, who the fuck is this kid hanging around with jinx?? why is she following her, why doesn’t she talk, what’s her name, how long has she been with her?? this lack of time to let things develop has caused these episodes to feel rushed.
with this introduction of many new things some have left me with a lot of questions. my biggest issue revolves around the arcane. i literally do not recall it being mentioned or being an important topic in s1 but all of a sudden jayce knows a fuck ton about it as well as heimerdinger? when did he learn this? i assume it’s from viktors notes and research but that still fails to cover the amount of knowledge jayce now possesses.
HOWEVER THE ARCANE IS VERY COOL AND IM VERY VERY INVESTED. i absolutely love the changes to viktor, his weird apathy and changes are definitely rushed but so interesting to see, his design and behaviour are so very compelling and im very excited to see the development. additionally, this group dynamic between jayce, ekko and heimerdinger is soooooo fun. it offers a break from the intensity with some silliness i think is desperately needed, plus it’s super satisfying to see the trio bounce off each other. that final scene of them in ep3 was visually incredible and i loved seeing the effects upon the hextech weapons during the jinx, sevika vs vi, caitlyn fight. the scene of viktor amongst the shimmer infected was very interesting and it was so cool to truly see the severe effects of shimmer and the inhumanity of viktor is making a clear route towards his glorious evolution which is am keen to watch.
that ambessa reveal at the end was INCREDIBLE. i genuinely didn’t see it coming and it made my jaw DROP. the quiet, smart suspicion from mel is always incredible to see, her political mind and morals conflicting is so very engaging and she’s really developing into herself in these episodes which was a joy to witness. the mystery of her brother is compelling and links well through s1 and s2 to make the storyline fun to follow. i also simply must compliment the designs revolving around the noxians and animal-esque (sorry idk what they’re called) people. the absolute variety and inspiration from real life cultures is beautiful to see. i am incredibly confused about the magic and that one lady (amara?) but i assume that’ll be answered in later episodes.
jinx is not looking good lmao. i love her design being so corpse-like and deathly, it really fits well and really embraces the differences between powder and jinx. but i do wish we saw more of her. i see her actions but i lack understanding for some of them, primarily revolving around the child (isha?) and why the kids even there but the newfound bond between sevika and jinx is refreshing to see. the scene of them in silcos old office brought a smile to my face and the design of that fucking arm is soooo cool i love the clownish purely jinx vibe to it.
caitlyn is probably the stand out character so far (plus maybe viktor). her absolute grief and seeing her facade break down throughout the episodes was heartbreaking, the tentative yet conflicting moments of softness with vi were beautiful yet had that perfect undercurrent of tragedy that arcane masters so well. her rage and break up with vi was easy to see coming yet so incredibly jarring to watch, that harsh and merciless behaviour is so different from s1, the development is well done and a morbid pleasure to see. and that final episode. oh my. the shock to acceptance of darkness was fantastic, ambessa truly is a master at manipulating weakness in even the strongest of people and seeing this duo is going to be so soul crushing that i’m itching for more.
vi felt very rushed to me and alittle dry? idk why tho i can’t really explain it. i understand her choices but it felt like something was missing until that final scene with cait. that was an absolute masterpiece. seeing her realising that the horrors of war is corrupting everyone around her and pleading for it to please not happen is so so SO fucking sad and my heart was breaking. i loved seeing her moral strength and solidity to her values which has always been a key part of her character so i appreciate the consistency. idk why something about her was just… different.
the opening scene was incredible. the absolute horror of it was so clear and i was literally shaking the entire time. 10/10 opening.
overall, i hope things slow down alittle but i greatly enjoyed season 2 and im very excited to see the characters develop and to see even more of this beautiful world.

Sweet Dreams
ALRIGHT this is another one to blame the server for. Some context - this is a bit of a combo of AUs I've seen with my own hcs thrown in. Apologies for the exposition (again).
Title: Sweet Dreams
WC: 1495w
Summary: Life is good in Zaun. Great, even. A normal night turns into something a little sillier.
-----------
It had been over a year since Jayce and Viktor were consumed by the Arcane. In their world life went on, Jayce was grieved, and Viktor was forgotten - those that did remember him could only hold onto the memory of what he became. Piltover grew, completely unbeknownst of a universe just a little to the left, where two men thrived.
The two inventors had set up a repair shop they shared, working out of Zaun. Between them they had developed a filtration system to clean the air that went completely unknown by Piltover, and the Zaunites were happy to keep it that way. Neither were untouched by their experience though. Jayce used a brace more often than not to help with his leg that never healed, and the white fingerprints on his forehead had faded greatly but would never leave.
The Arcane did not want to let go of Viktor that easily, but it seemed to have been decently kind with it. When they landed in a field on the outskirts of the city, Viktor was trapped switching between two forms: his Herald, as they called it, and his human body. It fucking hurt, but settled down and eventually he was able to switch between forms at will. The markings that once covered him like Jayce also faded into pale lavender streaks on his skin, and his lungs no longer gave him grief. He still dealt with pain in his leg, but that was par for the course at this point.
(He also kept his hair long, because he knew Jayce liked it)
(Jayce also kept his beard, because he knew Viktor liked it)
The day had been good - people had come to them with problems ranging from malfunctioning prosthetics to broken toys, all of which had been fixable within an hour. Jayce always sent the toy repairs to Viktor as he was a little better with the fiddly equipment and children seemed to flock to the man. Plus it was very funny watching Viktor figure out what to do with small children.
Viktor wandered into the bedroom in sleep pants with some sweetmilk while Jayce laid in bed and stared directly at the ceiling, eyes open and brow furrowed.
“Jayce, what are you thinking about?” Viktor asked, recognising the look.
“Hmm? Oh. Prosthetic pneumatics. Was I doing the thing where I look like a concerned corpse?” Jayce frowned and Viktor laughed, sitting next to him.
“You were. And you need to stop thinking about work in your downtime.”
“Look who’s talking.”
Viktor tipped his head in agreement. “A fair point. Still, I can’t use you as a pillow if you have gone rigor mortis on me.”
Jayce sputtered a protest at the comparison but raised an arm so Viktor could settle in beside him, which he did. The two read in the quiet together, Jayce gently carding his fingers through Viktor’s hair until a low rumbling noise came from his chest. That had been another discovery made after a few months of switching forms - there were hangovers between each one. The Herald could make a mechanical rumbling noise similar to a purr when content and that carried over to Viktor as well, although with a more organic and quiet sound. Jayce loved that he could tell when his partner was happy and teased him for the cat-like tendency at any opportunity. Not this time though, as he was starting to drift off and couldn’t really be bothered starting a quip-war.
It only took another ten minutes for both of them to put down their books and curl up to drift off together.
There was something on his side, and it felt weird. No, there was something on his side, and it tickled. Jayce’s brain woke up in increments at an unholy hour, half aware of something going on on his right side. The feeling moved up higher and he gasped, almost jerking as it brushed under his armpit. He looked to the side to find Viktor, seemingly fast asleep with his hands on Jayce’s torso. They weren’t doing much, just wandering and teasing, but it was enough that Jayce was trying to hold back giggles. He tried gently removing his hands but they came back stronger and more intently, poking into his ribs now.
“Vik, cut it out!” Jayce asked quietly, but it did nothing. He came to the slow realisation that his partner was indeed completely asleep, and obviously having a pretty stupid dream. Viktor still had trouble sleeping and Jayce was not going to be the one to interrupt a good night's rest so he steeled himself to endure the touches, trying to move as little as possible.
This proved to be a challenge. Being asleep, Viktor’s onslaught wasn’t nearly as bad as it was when he was awake but the ghosting of fingers on his sides and belly had him trying desperately not to squirm away and laugh. When both Viktor’s hands started spidering into his armpits it took every bit of self control not to slam his arms down. He couldn’t help but let out a high pitched squeal, after which he immediately checked to make sure Viktor was still asleep.
Jayce endured this feathery, tickly torture without jostling too much for an impressive amount of time. He was strangely proud of himself for holding out against Viktor’s fingers squeezing his stomach at all. One of Viktor’s hands suddenly moved up the back of his sides with precision too exact to belong to a sleeping person, and the fact finally clicked in Jayce’s brain.
“Viktor Talis. Are you awake?” He asked, eyes on Viktor’s face. There was almost no indication he had heard him. Almost. Jayce caught the corners of his mouth twitch upwards, and he knew he’d been had.
“Oh my gods, you little shit you’re going to pay for that!” Jayce threatened, jumping up and pinning Viktor’s arms to the bed. Viktor was wide awake now and grinning at him. He opened his mouth and Jayce shook his head.
“Nope, the only way you’re getting a word in is if you’re laughing.”
With that Jayce let go of Viktor’s arms, pulled back the covers, and squished his hands on either side of Viktor’s stomach. Viktor had half a second to prepare himself before Jayce started munching on his tummy, blowing raspberries all over the place and very ticklishly gnawing on his skin. His first reaction was to nearly shriek before laughing harder than he ever had at Jayce’s nibbling all over. Jayce’s hands got to work too, making sure Viktor’s belly was in the tickle target zone while squeezing and kneading into his sides and lower ribs.
“JAHAYCE! Noho fair!”
“Mmm, tasty!” Jayce teased, nuzzling his beard into Viktor’s stomach and making om nom noises after he spoke. He knew this tickled like absolute hell, and by Viktor’s kicking and cackling he could tell it was working. Pressing kisses and gently using his teeth to scrape across the sensitive skin was driving Viktor wild in new and exciting ways, so Jayce decided on a new game - trace over Viktor’s Arcane markings with his lips and tongue. This made Viktor’s pleading turn into gibberish, eliciting a screech when Jayce’s tongue dipped into his navel.
“Nohohohononoo! Thahat’s ahawful!”
“Oh, would you like to tell me where it tickles the most? We could make an experiment out of it!”
“Hehey, that’s my lihiHIHINE AHAHA!” Viktor tried to cut back but was interrupted by Jayce blowing the biggest raspberry yet right over his navel. It was then that the low rumbling noise started in Viktor’s chest, interspersing with the laughing. Jayce tilted his head to the side in amusement, replacing his mouth with his hands so he could speak.
“Aw, you’re purring!” Jayce said with a smile, hands scribbling over Viktor’s stomach at the speed of light. “You like this!”
Viktor squirmed violently, voice scratching from the purring he couldn’t control. “Jahayce plehease, ihit tickles so bahadly!”
“Alright, alright. Just one more.”
Jayce blew a last raspberry into Viktor’s stomach, using his scratchy beard to get a final yell from his partner before finally relenting. Viktor laid there on the bed, heaving for breath through continuous purring.
“I am covered in your slobber. Gross.” he commented, unable to conjure much more. Jayce snickered and laid down beside him.
“You deserved it.”
Viktor frowned, before he turned to Jayce with an evil grin. “Actually, I don’t think the punishment fits the crime at all.”
Jayce watched as Vitkor’s eyes glowed white with Arcane energy and his body glitched in place, transforming into the incarnation of the divine in living form. Well, that’s how Jayce saw it.
Viktor pinned Jayce down the same way Jayce had done to him, still purring. “You have just started a war, Jayce. I hope you’re prepared for the outcome.”
The hexclaw spun and contracted menacingly over Viktor’s shoulder, and Jayce gulped. This was gonna tickle so bad.

I am 100000% convinced that viktor is the mage that saved jayce when he was younger. (a theory i first saw by u/alecdmcfly on reddit but very much agree with)
season 2 act 1 spoilers in my explanation, under the cut
also thinking about how chaos storm looks in-game, and the energy blast that's released when young jayce is saved as well as when he heals the guy in zaun in season 2 -- similar color themes and design.
I'm not sure why/how he has some human form back, maybe if he's somewhat healed from the void machine body in acts 2 or 3, but we know he's etched runes into himself before and has a mastery of understanding the arcane rune matrix. also, though the mage' staff is wooden, it has three prongs (or has prongs generally) which we see in almost all of viktor's base build or skins.
consider also the weird stuff happening when ekko, jayce, and heimerdinger see the unstable arcane energy at the end of ep3. bearing in mind that ekko is known to have time traveling powers. the mysterious mage also heals jayce' mom's frostbite (an illness) just like he heals the zaunite.
also, ryze wouldn't give a random kid the stone -- but viktor, depending on wtf happens in the plot -- would have personal reasons for doing so (I'm assuming there's a lot of trauma ahead in the plot for viktor to consider giving hexcores to jayce given what's happened in acts 1 so far)
and lastly i SWEAR the mage had different legs if you slow down the video. his right leg (left side of screen) seems a loooooot like the OG viktor designs!
lastly I spent a lot of time staring at the mage' hand before he drops the hexcore into jayce' hand, as well as the shot of viktor's hand when they demo the hexclaw and gloves in season 1. almost the exact same pose just shot from different angles, same hand shape and everything. from an animation point of view it's probably nice to re-use assets you've already worked with!!

Forgive me if you've already answered this somewhere else but is Jayce's leg still super fucked up in his new remade body? I know you mentioned that his wrist is scared from where the runestone was ripped out, but is his leg and back also scared over or are they still arcane-y from the contamination/infection of the future world?
Anyway love love love all your jayvik work, and i think your finalized explanation of post-canon viktor retaining the machine herald look while still being able to look human is so far my favorite of the genre :D
Ohh no no, I didn't answer that anywhere (and even if I did, I'd be happy to answer it again)!
In my head (and thus in my comic), Jayce will get a normal back scar, since it was a chainsaw that injured him before his journey, and an arcane scar on his leg.
The back injury was certainly still open when he landed in the other universe, yet I don't think the anomaly had much effect on that wound - we see his lip burst open and other minor injuries that didn't end up being contaminated. That's why I don't think his back has been infected (but of course it's possible)

The leg is another thing. It broke and healed while he was in the other dimension. It healed badly, which is why he will probably have problems walking or even running for the rest of his life (modern medicine as we know it to perform bone correction seems unlikely). So it makes sense that he continues to wear a brace.

After s2 now hard to say...
The rune had an effect and I strongly suspect that both were cured of their hexcorisation. The magic has presumably not only healed Viktor, but also Jayce. The question is how much they were healed.
Because there's still a knot in my head: Viktor was terminally ill, the hexcore healed him, but also modified his body. The Arcane could have replaced the hexcore and therefore changed his body. We can see from Viktor's legendary skin that he has a normal body with arcane markings. Mage Viktor also has normal hands again, from what we've seen; guess he has mastered to handle the Arcane to transform his body back - maybe the rest looks similar to his legendary skin with arcane scars.

So it stands to reason that our Viktor now also has a human body again, possibly with the scars of the Arcane running through it.
Long story short, but if the arcane could heal Viktor completely (body and illness), it would also heal his leg injury. Same with Jayce's.
But to be honest, that would be an erasure of the things that make them who they are. That's why I've decided for myself that Jayce and Viktor will keep their injuries (voluntary or involuntary; I haven't decided yet). As a sign of their journey together, their connection and of course to continue to give weight to Jayce's words that beauty lies in imperfections.
That's why they still wear braces. When naked, the scars are probably clearly distinguishable from the other leg. As a sign that the arcane was there.
At the end of the day, it's just my theories and I'm not that familiar with the original lore, so it may well be that Viktor ends up keeping his machine body and Jayce is spit back out of the rune unchanged as a human 🙃
BUT thank you so much for your lovely words, I'm really happy to hear that you like my work 🥺❤️
