Mahou shoujo stans continue to eat so good this season. This, acro trip, mahonare and precure all airing at once is like a dream come true. This was a great second episode though, even better than the first.

It’s funny how you do all that job hunting and then the dream job ends up hunting you in the end. After all the setbacks, Kana finally has a place that she can call home and a job that values her as an individual. Seeing her face light up after all the rejections she’s likely got in the job market really struck a chord with me. I think anyone who’s dealt with rejection in any application can relate to getting down on yourself about not being good enough. But, remember, you have value. Just have to find where it’s appreciated.

Kana’s transformation scene was also so good. I love how nervous she was and didn’t know what to do during the cinematic 😂

Also gotta say the OST BANGS. I wasn’t familiar with Miyazaki cause I haven’t seen OPM, but the office scene when Kana gets her transformer and then the big fight with Hitomi at the end were really heightened by banger tracks.

The fight itself was dope, Hitomi and Kana already look like a team that’s been thru war together. I like how they illustrated just how nervous she was thru this whole process. But she’s got a natural talent for all this stuff and once she gets over the nerves she and Hitomi are gonna be insane.

Angst angst very descriptive and poetic angst and more angst (a friend of mine who is also a writer neary threw away my phone in pain after reading my star wars fic and meta post. I considered it a compliment, coming from them who also writes beautiful angst)

Writing long fics! I write mostly based on vibes and feelings that I want to express in as few words as possible, mmmaaaybe because I was a poem writer first before trying on fics (what is plot I don't know her 😂)

I'm all for it! English is not my first language and I think it'd be fun to insert some jokes and cuss words from another language 😅 (although I haven't tried it yet)

Dark Matter rambles pt.2 (spoiler alert)

I’ve decided to start a new post cuz the old one was getting too long.

Ch.26

First of all, OH MY GOD

I had to calm myself down for a long time before writing this otherwise it would’ve just been a jumble of exclamations.

There is a LOT I wanna talk about in this chapter but I’ll narrow it down to three things- the battle, Einaros and GERYU.

Before we go in I wanna mention Boros’ dream. So his prophetic dreams are still coming to him, except with this one he was conscious. Well not conscious, but he could walk around, he had control over his body. I wonder what the difference was. With Exodia, a dream he’s had for so long warning(?) him of an attack, all he could do was experience what the dream gave him. It was vague, the only distinct thing being the environment around him, the dream only getting clearer as the real event approached. The two previous dreams he’s had was a prophecy of what will happen, something that will happen; there was nothing he could do about it. But with this one nothing seems to be happening, at least not yet. No signs of danger, no signs of anything really, only notable thing being the waterfall. Is it telling Boros of a place he’ll find himself in in the future? Probably. Is something important gonna happen there? Also probably. Maybe it’s another place with a clue? The place he’ll meet Geryu? No idea.

I used the term ‘warning’ above but that seems inaccurate. Warning implies that he could have done something to stop it. With Exodia maybe he could’ve persuaded the others to leave, but that seems unlikely. With the Maelstrom too, Proxima had the idea to stop the ship herself, even without Boros’ input. So his dreams are just showing him what will happen.. but now that he’s certain that it’s showing him the future, he’s determined to be prepared, he’s anticipating it. Is the new dream a result of this change? That he’s more prepared? Maybe, maybe not. But doubtless he’s had more control over it, even if it was only with his body. And he will be looking out for this place, anticipating it. That itself is a huge improvement compared to before, in my opinion.

(Also why was the Cyborg so cold when Boros mentioned his dreams?? His words sympathetic, but his tone cold- what does this mean? Does it have something to do with the voices?? This guy’s just wrapped up in mysteries!!)

Now onto the battle. AAAAAAAAA

Well the first thing I wanna mention is the centipede. Yes, it cracked me up to see that the monster was nothing other than a centipede, an acknowledgement to OPM’s love for those things no doubt😂

Speaking of OPM, it’s with this fight things are getting more and more like a.. shonen manga(??) seeing the main character getting stronger with every fight to be specific. Which is what OPM’s all about. So to see Boros doing that, to see this fic showing hints of what it will inevitably happen- it makes my heart race is what it does, to put it lightly.

And the way he fights, the way he defeated the creature; it wasn’t complicated, he just punched through it, but even in that simple fight we could see that he was being smart, strategic. The creature was so much bigger than him, so he waits for it to grab him first, bringing himself closer to what is most likely the creature’s vital spot; its head. And when it’s confirmed that he can do damage to it, he uses his enemy’s fight stance to give the final blow.

Two things- the copying of Iryo’s fighting style, and his energy output.

We are briefly shown Boros analyzing Iryo’s fighting style in the previous chapters. So to see him use it for himself, and victoriously at that, is SO exciting. How many of the Xar can replicate the exact moves of an enemy in a fight he’s had no control over? Not many I presume. Is it his desperation to keep his friends safe that has him learning so much from his traumatic experience? Probably. And this is rewarded with his complete calm during the fight, resulting him being able to control his stellar core, to push through his previous limits.. (limits huh)

And I can’t not mention the color of his energy turning blue, even if only briefly, to match what we’ll be seeing in OPM..

Also I love the little details like the sand crystalizing from his heat, and the shockwaves of each punch; it makes the fight so much more real.

All in all I think this fight was an excellent way to show how much Boros has learned and grown, and what his current capabilities are.. which is apparently what Einaros thinks of as well.. he is impressed.. But more on that in the next post.

December 22, 2022. SMDC Festival Grounds. ERASERHEADS. Huling El Bimbo.

Bombarded by birthday greetings from family, friends, colleagues and insurance company 😂.

Today is gonna be the day that they're gonna throw it back to...me? Haha!

Eraserheads will be playing their final (final?!?) reunion concert in PH. I was the happiest person in the entire universe when I learned that they're going to play on my birthday. No more questions asked, no buts and ifs, I will be there come hell or high water, even dead and cold hahaha!

Dizizit! Bzzzt bzzzt! I'm going to experience once more (or for the last time?) that euphoric feeling, nostalgic ecstacy - ultraelectromagnetichigh.

The Diegos started stepping on the gas at around 8:00 P.M. to fill our dehydrated souls with music that we, the heads generation, love to death.

The 90s kid in me started giggling and mumbling, with the occasional head bounce (cannot do the head bang now, vertigo will kill me 😵‍💫) and stomping, eyes closed, to entirely feel the moment. OPM Megahits from FrancisM, Yano, Wolfgang, Razorback, P.O.T., Pu3ska and even Gary V were included in their catalogue, combined with the famed 90s anthem from Nirvana, RATM, RHCP, Cypress Hill, Beck, Salt-N-Pepa, Naughty by Nature, Arrested Development, Mastaplann, Breeders, The Cardigans, Blur, Daft Punk, Chemical Brothers, Beastie Boys, Fatboy Slim and merry more. They capped off their set with Teeth's Laklak, which heightened our sentimental senses and rebellious teen spirit.

8:30 P.M. The whole festival grounds went black and silent (just for a few seconds). Then the jumbo LED screens flashed a montage of Eheads' journey counting down to this epic finale.

5. 4. 3. 2. 1. Wooooooooooooohhhhh!!!

Lights off. All of us are guessing the first song. My previous assumptions were Fruitcake (why not? it's christmas time!), Superproxy (coz of the main producer's bragging of the hologram tech that made the ticket prices soar high way up in the sky 🤣) & Pop Machine (this is my current favorite). And then baaaaam! We all went insane and in flames!

We were all screaming our hearts out. Although the audio and visuals were disappointing (we barely hear the solid sound of guitars/bass, the screen display at the Moshpit/VIP section was out of sync with the music), our energies were intensified more than ever. Sing. Scream. Jump. Bounce. Stomp. Repeat. Then Elmo, Arkin and Eon went down the main stage to perform with their respective dads, and the much-awaited hologram of the great Francis Magalona unfolded right before our fiery eyes. I must admit that I am not impressed with the 3-D moving figure (with that ticket price they could've done better), but the illusion of him performing was undeniably a feast.

Oh my God. They're going to shove the whole Cutterpillow album to our face! The album art at the back of their most successful album were flashed one by one in the screen. BTW, I love their all black outfit for the 1st set.

Upon hearing Raymund's familiar drum patterns, we screamed in unison again. Saan ka nagtungo, tumila na ang ambon, sana man lang naghintay kahit na konting sandali, weee weee weee!!! (takatakatakatak) Sorry for all the people near me recording that important moment of your lives, you'll definitely hear my voice singing along, that was unforgivably cringeworthy. 🤣You can still hear my voice and it gets more annoying as the night progresses.

When they played Overdrive, we were loaded with nitro boost during the whole song and we stand by near the end, not sure if we wanted to hear the monologue of Marcus (Pare 'di na magstart yan, buti pa kain na lang tayo) or let them proceed onto the next song.

Slo mo. They let Ely rest for a bit. Raymund on vocals! Also one of my favorites, I love every bit of this masterpiece (written by the 4 geniuses). My twitter username was inspired by this song.

Another trip down the memory lane - Huwag mo nang itanong - I was in 5th or 6th grade when this song was released. It made me laugh when I first heard the line, "ewan ko, hindi ko alam, pwede bang huwag na lang nating pag-usapaaaaan. Huwag mo nang itanong sa akin, 'di ko rin naman sasabihin", I thought, oh dear, that was sooooo me haha! I don't talk much when I was younger (until now?), that was a waste of time for me, I value my solitude more than the nonsense chitchats.

Next! First time to hear Paru-Parong Ningning live. Though Raymund & Ely were upbeat, I was unable to move because I'm having cramps hahaha (signs of aging). Standing still while enduring the agonizing pain, I didn't want to be pulled out of the concert grounds. I just need water and I'll be fine 😂

I'm still singing and dancing with the crowd (even with recurring cramps haha) and then Raymund strikes again! Yoko - A very fitting song for the current madness we have these days. "Tigilan na 'tong raket, raket ng gobyerno, 'di ko na kelangan ng pang-aabuso niyo" / "milyon-milyong pilipinong estudyante, tumiwalag, palayain ang sarili!"

Ely showcased his acoustic guitar prowess, singing along with the crowd, as Fill her ended the first set.

The 30-minute break started with Cutterpillow playing in the background of the countdown timer. I used to have a cat, who wouldn't ever wanna get fat! I kept singing while in a rush to buy water. Aaaaaaahhh my throat was dry and painful. But I don't care, I'm going to sing my heart and lungs out all night. Haha!

Opening song for the second set - Pop Machine! At last, wish granted! As I've said earlier, this song is my current fave. The beat, the rhythm and the lyrics were perfect. Kailan ba ako magkakapera? Yeah!

I was surprised to hear them play Sabado. They released this song back in 2014, along with 1995 (the song, not the year). The limited edition CD was included in the Esquire Magazine September 2014 issue. Buti na lang, I got my own copy hehe.

Of course they also played their very first single (Ligaya) that captured the entire nation. Who would've thought that a tshirt, isaw, tansan and thesis (I don't even know thesis at that time, I was only in 3rd grade playing jackstone & patintero when I heard it on the radio) will make them legendary rock icons.

Buddy introduced Maestro Mel Villena who helped them arrange Lightyears - my ultimate favorite song from Eraserheads. No words needed. Just listen. The orchestra almost made me cry.

Aside from the orchestra and the back-up singers from AHEB cast, they were assisted by their auxiliary band members: Audry Dionisio, Mikey Amistoso and Jazz Nicolas.

Surprised again upon hearing the back-up singers sang the lines: In a hostile takeover bid... Whoa! Saturn Return! One of the songs in my wishlist. I wanna see a showdown from Ely and Raymund. But it got a lot better! Backed by the orchestra, the rap parts of Rayms were performed superbly by Arkin Magalona and Eon Buendia. I think after the 2nd set, I saw Diane Ventura (Eon's mom) and told her that Eon was impressive, then she shouted loud and proud, "Galing ni Eon!". The kids are alright.

Got another one in my wishlist - Tama Ka. At long last, been wanting to hear this live. Buddy didn't disappoint. "Minsan nagtatanong kung saan, kailan, paano nasimulan, ang katapusang mahirap takasan, pero 'wag na, ibato mo na lang sa ulan."

After With a smile, the band continued to play Insomya, perfect timing to pump up the crowd. We were on fire again! SWWWWW

Amazed and delighted when I heard the intro of Christmas Party. Another fave from the Fruitcake album. Did not expect this song, I was more convinced that Fruitcake will make the cut. Gary V sang the parts originally sang by the late Francis M.

The Sticker Happy piano was used as a backdrop during Spoliarium and made it more melancholic and gloomy. Remember The Final Set concert 13 years ago? That very same piano was set on fire. We can also feel the show's about to end soon.

They ended the second set with Magasin. Short break.

Encore. During Pare Ko, Raymund walks around the stage recording the event while drinking haha! "Lalo lang madadagdagan ang sakit ng ulo at bilbil sa tiyan" 🤣

Alapaap's intro was playing and the crowd sing along. But that was a mistake, that's why Ely's opening spiel doesn't add up haha! Minsan was the correct song, followed by Alapaap and the final song, Ang Huling El Bimbo. One of the greatest songs ever written, it was really doing well on its own, but when backed up by the orchestra, it went more magical and breathtaking. They ended the night with the magnificent fireworks display and loads of confetti shower.

This is the first poll where I'm regretting the lack of 'they tie' option because. 100% they tie. Like I've said before both OPM and SVSSS operate on their very clear rules and: YES Saitama always wins against a strong opponent BUT Luo Binghe can't lose and can't die. Again, not in the "oh he's so powerful" way - in the "the universe will literally rearrange itself so that he doesn't die" way! In the "a perfectly fine roof beam in a well-built mansion will oh-so-conveniently pancake a demon trying to attack him while he's tied up, and it will also conveniently free him" way!

Which means that if Binghe and Saitama fight, it can only lead to a more and more convoluted series of events preventing one from punching and the other from getting punched. Random shit collapses on Saitama, there's suddenly an open manhole where just seconds ago there was none, Luo Binghe gets distracted by something and turns at just the right moment for Saitama's fist to harmlessly pass him by, etcetc - probably with some gag ending to the stalemate, like Luo Binghe's husband swanning onto the scene to ask where's his dinner.

Point is, both Luo Binghe and Saitama are subject to the rules of their respective universes, and by those rules, neither of them can lose to the other - and so, neither of them can win either.

(Also, I've been thinking about this since Six Balls' poll, but the crossover would be so funny. Luo Binghe would take one look at Genos and Saitama and make So Many Assumptions 😂 )

I don't really care about HCs regarding characters' orientation and preferences whatsoever, but I definitely agree with anon about Ichijou being aroace (instead of him being bi, which I've seen others have said). Honestly, I find it quite nonsensical to automatically assume someone's bi for being the one getting confessed to by people of different genders, instead of the other way around. It's like assuming a homosexual person is straight afterall just bc someone of the opposite sex is in love with them. That's ridiculous. ಠ‿ಠ

Anyway, as a "wouldn't mind getting married for the [long-term] benefits" aroace (who's also been confessed to by a few folks of different genders), I just want to reiterate that I 100% agree with that anon's Ichijou HC. 👍😂

It’s funny how we project our own lived experiences onto the characters. I thought Garou was just genuinely avoiding the question because it’s awkward as hell to talk about that stuff as an 18 year old with a parent figure. But I’m a cis het woman. Of course i would see it like that; what could two supposedly straight cis men (ONE and Murata) meant to portray with Garou’s reaction? When it’s just as normal for kids to have crushes on celebrities. Every male straight OPM fan in the vicinity related to him liking the yellow ranger, having liked the yellow ranger themselves when they were growing up.

You're right. It's very true that our own experiences affect how we interact with media. Everything -books, music, movies- is skewed by our own reality. I do not presume to know what ONE and Murata intended (if I ever do, it's mostly for comedic effect) and I am almost certain they meant to just have this silly little bonding moment between Garou and Bang as a moment of levity after several pretty intense chapters. (Do I genuinely think ONE and Murata intend to make Garou not straight? No. I love how ONE writes, but, having seen how they portray Puri Puri Prisoner, I doubt they would write a queer character as seriously and nuanced as Garou).

However, I just find it so interesting that what one person sees as "omg Dad, stop, you're so embarrassing" another person can see as "oh no, oh no, I can't tell them, what if it changes everything, what if they see me differently, what if they treat me differently, what if they can't reconcile their perception of me with how I actually am and leave me". And then when I picture Garou thinking the latter coupled with him only just now getting Bang back, it really makes more sense to me that Garou is freaking out because he's worried something bad will happen if he doesn't answer right.

But, like I said, that has to do with my own experiences. I couldn't tell people in high school "oh, I don't like people like that" because, at the time, I would get made fun of for being a "cold, unfeeling machine" or "a weirdo" or "a psychopath". Hearing the dreaded "you'll find someone someday" like the right person would come along and fix me. I didn't like being treated as someone less human, so I'd make up answers. I'd say my type was "Johnny Depp" because I really liked Jack Sparrow. Or I learned that everyone was really into Chris Evans and remembered that when people started talking about types so I could supply his name when asked about my own.

So when I see Garou squirming and sweating and stumbling along after being asked that question, I see my own experiences and recognize the signs of discomfort and the attempts to answer and move on. I see my own reality.

Even if that isn't what ONE and Murata intended when they wrote and drew this scene, that's what I felt. And, yeah, perhaps I'm not "interpreting" the texts correctly, but that's what happens when you make art. Draw a painting using blue and one person who sees it feels calm while another person might feel sad. Does one person feel incorrectly?

This is why I'm not a lit major. I don't really think I'm cut out for these kind of existential, unmeasurable questions 😂

Plus, with the end bit, expressly saying he likes Yellow Ranger because she looks like/reminds Garou of his mother, implies one of two things:

We've got a serious Oedipus issue on our hands, and I'm worried for Garou.

Garou doesn't really have romantic feelings towards Yellow Ranger and his feelings are probably closer to idolizing or hero worship.

Either way, poor Garou really needs a proper parental figure in his life. I'm really excited to see Bang fill that roll!

Inui Seishu

Before even arriving in the Philippines, he'll definitely do some research about Filipino traditions and culture. So don't be surprised if he already has some knowledge beforehand. He just really wants to impress you and your family.

Introducing him to your parents was one of the cutest interactions you'll ever see. He'll definitely bless their hands and say "Mano po, tita/tito." in the most adorable accent you can imagine 🥺please he is trying okay? he wants to have some pogi points

I feel like he'll definitely be the type to appreciate your family so much. Whether you're in an extended or small family, he'll appreciate you for introducing him to them knowing his background.

He'll definitely be quite surprised that you eat with your bare hands. But honestly, he'll love it. He'll probably unconsciously adapt it into his habits.

Don't forget to tell him about the take-out culture in every fiestas because if you don't and he sees you bringing a plate of Lumpia home, he'll be like "Y/N, you're not supposed to steal food." No Inui it's given to us

Oh, and if the karaoke mic was passed to him 😂 the poor boy might die from shyness, please. He'll probably be forced to sing by your relatives with A LOT of songs from the songbook. Y/N SAVE HIM!

Also, don't be surprised if he'll ask for some song recommendations from you based on your favorite local bands and artist. Hello guys!! I’m one day ahead for this currently post but only today because I have a party to attend tonight & my weekend is just as hectic as I sound right now. I’ve been out and about since yesterday to celebrate my hubby’s birthday and shop for last minute outfit and bond with my little girl of course 😊 this will be so quick because I need to get ready and I still need to practice my song for tonight hehee ✌🏻

P.S. my baby sister’s name was supposedly “Andrea Bliss” my stepmom really liked it but then my Dad wanted her to have the name “Mary” just like me and my sister Grace. So I came up with “Mary Andrea”. So that makes us “Tres Marias” in the family. I’m so excited to see them all 2 weeks from now!

Feeling

- blessed & happy. Happy because I have the time to write and blog unlike last year; and also because there is so much more to be happy about than to feel like you’re shit and all that. Picking up myself from hitting the rock bottom wasn’t so easy, in fact I’m still on the process. And I know I’ll get through this. I’m just so glad that writing & blogging made it lighter for me along the way.
