you know something i do not think you can call the secret life of bees a white savior narrative... it is in fact a key element to the plot that that little white girl was not in fact saving anybody... now maybe i don't know what i'm talking about but i am just thinking we need to better define what terms means and like, spread those definitions around! that's all i'm saying

#there are definitely aspects of the story that are very like. well this is a book written by a white lady!#but i don't necessarily think that has to be a bad thing all the time. we shouldn't ban white ladies from writing about anything other than #like. white lady romance novels and whatever... i fear sometimes white ladies are simply pretty good at what they do!#to be all 'i wish it hadn't been about a white girl' is insane frankly. so you wish it had been completely different and nothing like what #it was like? so you wish it was a completely different story? well you are in luck because they do make those if you look!#i just think the 'i wish this crucial narrative element had been completely context changingly different' criticism is sooo funny #like. well they do make those! it's called other movies! yay!
