Tokyo In Tulsa 2013 Convention Report (Sunday)

Sunday was so chill! (Isn't it always?)

I actually ended up finishing out my cosplay line-up. Started the day out with Helena Harper, which was great at first, but became a little painful because of...dem heels. @_@ The good news was I actually got stopped/noticed several times and even got some great pics, one of them even with a Piers cosplayer, which is awesome because I don't see enough of those.

Stella was in her fabulous Chansy cosplay, and she just looked so adorable! So after just a few hours in Helena, I went to change into Glaceon so Ash and I could be an awesome Pokemon duo! 

After Garren's Lolita fashion panel, which was quite informative, we went to the artists' alley for a bit of last minute shopping. Everything was dying down by around 3:30, so we pretty much parted ways with our pals and headed back home.

All in all, it was fun, but not as fun as other cons to me. It's just so chill and there's no pressure, which can be fun, but it's still a young convention, and you can seriously tell. I didn't agree with the judging that went on during the cosplay/skit contests, the whole convention was over run by friggin' teenagers being immature and there just weren't enough panels. It's slowly getting better each year, but it's never my favorite. I will continue to go because of location and how, I guess, relaxed it is. But I am definitely looking forward to Oni-Con in a few months.

Tokyo in Tulsa (TNT) Cosplayers part 3 final: You can’t see in the iron man one but the guy could open and close his mask with like some mechanics. It was awesome. Also in the game room we saw a dancing Titan. He gave us hugs while we were drawing at our table. He was a great guy; breaking all kinds of barriers that day. Again if you have a tumblr and you are in any photos point yourself out.

Tokyo In Tulsa 2013 Convention Report (Saturday)

I was really pumped for Saturday, given it's usually the best/busiest day of the convention. Probably ended up waking up around ten that morning, which was pretty early for me at a con.

My first cosplay of the day ended up being Tifa because my awesome photographer pal wanted to do a shoot with me, and there was this fantastic church downtown that would be just a perfect setting. So, Stella and I met up with her and went to eat some kick ass Mexican food a few blocks down, which was kind of interesting considering I was in my get up. (Seriously. An older lady entering the restaurant almost fell down from look back at me when we left.)

After that was the shoot which was short and sweet! It was a bit annoying because of the wind and that black wig was so dreadful and kept tangling up, but I'm sure the pictures will turn out splendidly.

We then headed back to the hotel and I got dressed in Aqua for the Kingdom Hearts photo shoot, which ended up taking about...five minutes? We just stood in a group whilst everyone took pictures of us, and there weren't a lot of us. 

When that was over, we went to the game room and wandered around a bit more. We met some of Dracen's awesome friends and chatted for a bit. Met this awesome gal named Garren who talked our ear off a little about some J-Pop and traditional Japanese fashion, which was cool! (Really, she was a cutie and knew her shit.) 

Then it was dinner for the evening! A group of us met up back at the room and got ready to head out. I stayed in my Aqua wig and just changed into street clothes, because I didn't want to have "wig hair" while we were out- it exists, guys. 

Dinner was at Genghis Grill, and it was muy delicioso as always. (My bowl consisted of like...90% meat. Yummeh!) After some good old fashioned fellowship, we went back to the hotel room and began drinking for the evening and playing Apples to Apples and Heads Up. Yeah, we're awesome 20-somethings. 

We ended up ditching the rave for the evening, which was a bit of a shame, but I haven't been to a rave at a con in quite some time and we were all pretty much settled in for the night. After some light Truth-Or-Dare, I'd say we all passed out around 4:00.

HAVE YOU SEEN THIS SHIRT?

Our booth, TEC: The Echo Chronicles on the 2nd floor near the rave had a box of promo items including a T-shirt on our chair, pushed in.  Some of you may remember it as the booth with the free glow in the dark bracelets left out for the ravers or the booth with the free comics and bookmarks that we gave out all weekend.

We gave out a lot of free things.  Only free things.  Things that we paid for out of our own pocket to give to you.

We brought a t-shirt, the t-shirt above, to give away in a social media contest.  There are only two of these shirts in the world, the one that I'M CURRENTLY WEARING (I'm a redheaded girl with an exhibitor badge, ha ha, please don't hit me) and the one that was stolen. It was stolen between 10:00PM and sometime this morning from the box under our booth.   

Other exhibitors had thefts as well.

If you have ANY information on who rifled through our booth or who stole the kendo demonstrator signs, please contact the convention safety and security department.

I'm not trying to recover the shirt.  I think that's a lost cause.  I just want to help security understand how this happened so it can be improved on next year.
