We were so honored to be at #catcon2019 this year helping to spread #tnrawareness to our local communities of #pasadena and beyond! It is such an important message and the fact that our booth was 4 people deep for most of both days, screamed loud & clear that people are eager to jump in! We couldn't be more thrilled, except......to stop and take a photo with #theoriginaltrapking Sterling Davis! So proud of Sterling for getting out there and educating! Support is key and boosting morale amongst all of us out there sweating our butts off lifting heavy traps because we believe in what we're doing...is EVERYTHING! It takes a lot to work a full day and go out after into a world which is suffering and give it all you've got 2-5x/week! But we do it nonetheless. Another rescue success story! This handsome guy was just trapped on a freeway embankment behind a strip mall when we were surveying stabilized colonies. We found him living amongst a family of baby opossums! He is a beautiful little brown tabby boy about 8-9 weeks old and we are guessing he was #dumped at an #eartippedcolony. The frustrating part is that we would have helped whoever dumped him by #fixingmamacat ! A female goes into heat every 2 weeks until pregnant....guess what is coming next? That's right...another litter that will also most likely be dumped.The result? They will suffer and/or die....or they will end up at the shelter where another kitten/cat might have to give up their cubby. Both scenarios downright suck. The goal of #tnr is to fix everyone BEFORE the litters are here. Munchkin Alert!! Took this little guy to get checked out and he is doing well. His left eye is looking better and he is loving his gerber turkey and gravy mixed with kmr replacement at the vet after his exam. He was the hit of the waiting room... Lol. He is voracious of course and quite the talker. We are not a rescue... We try to stay on the streets trapping to prevent munchkin litters from being born and suffering as this one and his 3 deceased litter mates. We are always looking for rescues to team up with who want to take directly from the streets so they stay out of the shelters. Mama has been TNR'd and released. This little guy never should have been born! His stray mom had a litter of kittens on the property of a disabled woman who couldn't afford to fix her. Her litter of 4 starved and 3 died because she didn't have enough nutrients on board to create milk to feed them. They starved slowly to death. This little one was rescued and is now doing very well. He is 4 weeks old , but his weight is accurate for a 2 week old. He is tiny and has an ulcerated, cloudy eye which should clear up with Terramyacin meds. Mom has now been #tnr and released. The ONLY reason why she was fixed?? Because I was driving by and noticed several cats on a wall. I stopped to TALK with her and found that she needed a ton of help. They had been breeding... She'd only had enough money to fix 6 of them and 3 had been left. I counted 27. If she had received any information at all about free spay neuter services through her shelter or other city notification, this colony would have been stabilized and it would have stopped at 9 cats. There is NO education out there that goes door to door offering knowledge, services or networking to help not only people... But mostly to help the cats. This needs to change immediately! I had 10 appts for Thursday and Friday. These are just 2 of the 7 kitties from Duarte that went in to #fixnation. The male up top showed up a few weeks ago and is a talker and a lover. The tortie is 1 of 6 in a house where the woman now has advanced dementia. All of them were pregnant. They are living inside with a male cat who keeps making his rounds. Well....
