new idea for the horror actor au:

rather than being actual actors they are making an independant film. Just because as a highschooler I feel like it'll be easier for me to write highschoolers joining together to make a movie rather than adults directing it

also because I just really like the idea of Mikey being in charge of practical effects and April filming.

but yess tell me abt Mantauri whenever you want, I am invested in them now like honestly, you’re take on Mandarin is SO good, his villainy doesn’t feel watered down and his improvement in the redemption au with Hermes feels natural too, I LUV it!

My monkey team writing is suuuuper indulgent and it’s obvious I fixate on my favorite characters, I’m not proud of it in a sense that any of it is Good but I am proud that I made something I at least like :3

after tmnt 2012 reintroduced the VAs and similar characters as the monkey team I latched onto a crossover au about that stuff for years. Slash and Rockwell made me like sparx/gibson lol

The show “pig goat banana cricket” actually references srmthfg with their own Gibson named “Gooch” also voiced by Tom Kenny, and I still haven’t seen every ep he appears on but I love Gooch

Thank you! I sometimes have aus of aus or different ways I ship characters sometimes. Mandarin I see most of the time being wanting to be in control.

So in the ending up in the games galaxy au, there are two different versions of that. One where Mandarin HAS learned from everything and is trying to make up for past actions and trauma bonds with Hermes because they both get it now, it's a different flavor of the character yet it works? Sometimes it's like that. ( and then there is the version of Mandarin in games galaxy au where he just gets worse and has power... also makes sense)

There is absolutely nothing wrong with self indulgent works. You're having fun and interacting with fandom as you wish. Goodness knows i'm self indulgent with a lot of my works.

What's important to me is that ones having fun.

Oh, tmnt 2012 was one of the nickelodeon ones right? The one Ciro worked on (which honestly explains so much of the body horror from what I saw of the show.) I saw season one of that i think, never caught up after that. I loved Rise of the teenage mutant ninja turtles though.

I have not seen "pig goat banana cricket" ever but yess, Tom Kenny. One of the many great voice actors one will hear a lot.

1. Hecate help me, now my writerbrain is throwing fic ideas at me for the 2016 movie TMNT (the facial animation was better in the sequel so I tend to default). My maladaptive daydreaming has my Mental Episodes now being headcanons for the Paramount Films whether I like it or not. Which is fine, because I adore the actors. And I can do a hecking lot with these characters. But part of me wants to yell at my writerbrain since I still have unfinished AU fics from 2012 and I just started a 2003 one. And my two Original Novels sit there staring at me.

The life of a disabled single fandom Fanfiction writer with ADHD and Maladaptive Daydreaming when the franchise is the main Autistic special interest. Hi. Halp.

2. PS, my contribution for the Darkest Night Fanbook on DA is over halfway done and I am considering ending it on what would otherwise be a cliffhanger, since it is strictly for the fanbook. The fanbook would encourage that anyway, it's all about horror. Wheee. The classic "being haunted into insanity" plot featuring a creature that could be a ghost, a wraith, a phantom, a phantasm, a non-religious demon, an entity determined to consume the soul. I am having a little too much fun. It's like writing a episode of The Outer Limits. I'm so mean. So much Break The Cutie trope.

3. On the other hand, I'll need help getting back to my 2003 fic The Brightest Light, Chapter Two, in which Michelangelo views the medical video journal that wound up recording his family taking advantage of his trance state and testing his new telekinesis. I didn't expect to write about emotional manipulation among the characters, but I guess I always thought the 2003 turtles showed less love and more desire to control each other. Mikey got yelled at and smacked so often, told that he was wasting his great potential. Even Splinter seemed bitchy. I was surprised he didn't have bruises on his head.

I guess Chapter Two will be my chance to explore my own thoughts via the characters.

I mean, look at all the moments when Mike was the greatest most amazing ninja, those moments were so few and far between. I wish someone could create a video and put all those bits together. I bet it would be short. Mikey was written as a clown who was considered unintelligent except for rare moments where they all knew he was wise and insightful. Why couldn't the writers have written his insightful creative empathic wisdom as his default? Mirage had him that way, carefree, lighthearted, compassionate, joking at every turn to try and brighten everyone's spirits, a sensitive creative optimist who was the most human, who laughed because life needed more light. 2003 was supposed to be a soft homage to Mirage. Mikey was written as a buffoon who bore all the comic relief and was only allowed brief moments of beautiful skill, power, talent, kickass awesomeness, insightful creative thoughtfulness. And see, everyone knew he was capable, so why wasn't he more often. Mikey was the crafty one, the fox, the trickster, the detail oriented creative, the empath who comforted his family by doing a silly dance. The writers wasted him with slapstick, panicky screaming and bad comedic turns, freakouts that seemed strange for a ninja, immaturity that nobody found amusing.

I am so determined to fix that that it could take a while before "The Brightest Fire" is finished. I would even take requests.

okay some things I have thought of for the horror actor tmnt iteration:

-They aren't technically "actors", at least not professionally. The movie they're making would be an independent project that they're working on rather than them being in an actual production. ^This is 100% just so that I didn't have to create any new adults to run the thing.

-This is a "mutants are just a normal part of society" iteration. It's easier.

-The turtles are highschool students (leaning towards 11th grade), and the ones to come up with the idea in the first place. Splinter's probably a retired actor or something. They come up with the idea near the beginning of the school year and work on it throughout, getting help from people in their specific classes (like Raph and Mikey ask around in art, Donnie in computer science, and Leo in journalism). Nearly everyone that works on the film is half an actor and half working on something else. Some have just one job, but most have at least a small job in addition to their main one. Depends what they felt able to do They'd definitely still be working on it well into summer.

-I have not decided if I'm going to give the characters they play different names, or if I want their regular names to be their character names (like Mikey's real name is something else, but his character's name is Michelangelo). I will figure that out before I write it, obviously.

-Raph is an actor + costume designer.

-Leo is an actor + script writer.

-Donnie is an actor + editor.

-Mikey is an actor + practical effects artist.

-Casey is an actor. Just an actor, that's all he wanted to do. "As long as my character gets to die in a cool way"

-April is filming + sound design

I'll probably create a few new characters for this au + add in some others (like Mona and Mondo I'm 100% adding. Also Sunita and Irma I think- maybe Karai?) but yea :]

So essentially, this au has two separate stories. The actual production of the film, and the film itself. This way I get to write a horror story without facing the consequences of actually killing characters :thumbsup:

If I ever write this au it'll probably be in comic form, so the movie will likely be a separate comic that I'd write after I write the actor comic.

Anyway sorry for posting about this iteration so much the brain ants have latched onto it it's the same thing that happened with the Mikey nightmares au
