what is it about music in particular that makes people think an artist's songs are always autobiographical.

I mean, I know it's not the only artform that receives this response - people do it with thinking authors must personally approve of the stories they write. but it always seems like people take for granted that a songwriter must be speaking from personal experience rather than creating fiction.

#this is about music in general but yes this was inspired by reading the tmbw interps for too long lol #also interviews #it's a weird one bc people been regaling tales through song for. god as long as we can remember right #so why assume all of a singer's work is personal
