cannot stop thinking about mag 121 so here’s a very small draft of a fic i’m working on

takes place immediately after mag 121 but before mag 122 — premise is that Jon chooses to die as a human rather than become a full avatar of the Eye

TW: major character death, minor mention of suicide (not discussed in detail)

Jon dies.

It’s a quiet and painless affair, all things considered. If he had been alive to ask, he would’ve said he deserved for it to hurt — for the long, drawn-out thing it was to have been conscious. But now he’s dead, and so he doesn’t know anything anymore.

(The Eye knew he had been afraid to shield Tim with his own body from the explosions in the wax museum, which it had happily gorged itself upon. The Eye did not know that Jon didn’t regret it — wouldn’t know, specifically. The failed Archivist did not live up to the Beholding, could not feed it or dedicate himself to it, and so, he no longer mattered.)

It would’ve sucked no matter what, Georgie decides, but this was an exceptionally shitty result.

There was a tape recorder left behind in his hospital room, one that had been kept running after the visitor looking of death had left. The recorded statement itself was… standard, she guessed, despite not having much of a reference point for these things.

Not quite human enough to die, but still too human to survive.

Make your choice, Jon.

What a load of shit. He might’ve been an idiot in life, but she could see that a lot of the choices he had weren’t much better than what he… chose. God, did this count as suicide?

She filed that thought away for later. For now, Georgie reached out and stroked his hair out of his face for the last time, and then pushed the call bell for a nurse.

i feel like too many people gloss over the fact that on the way to point nemo, after watching a man die, stealing his ID, hiding his corpse and using his identity to go on a research trip that he 1) doesn't care about and 2) isn't qualified for, Oliver Banks stole a gun, shot the captain, held the crew at gunpoint and then got everyone on board, including himself, squashed by a satellite.

That begs the question. Did Oliver use Daisy’s dumping grounds for Pritchard? I wouldn’t put it past him to know where it is because Roots, but I don’t think I’ve seen anyone else mention this.

Haven’t posted one of these in about a month and in that time Jon has gained a new scar and lost a couple of ribs. I had a surprisingly hard time drawing Oliver Banks despite the very clear image of him in my head, I am happy with the result of the drawing but would probably like to try a couple of different ways of drawing him before I settle on a design for him. The other half of Breekon and Hopes’s statement actually made me quite sad and I actually wasn’t expecting that, his statement made me feel like that feeling you get when you finish a book series (or any show or comic book series in general) you really like. Also look at that goats head! I am actually quite proud of it, it turned out exactly how I wanted it to look.

So he can predict all deaths but what entity is he related to? The End? The Web?

I know it's unrelated but why would he assume the identity of one of the most important people on the ship? Maybe no one else was to die around that time but it obviously isn't a good idea. Actually, did he kill him? Did he cause the accident?

How is he alive if he died? Are avatars a little immortal? Can they choose to die? Is it an Avatar of the End thing but then how would it also apply to Jon?
