So many holes in the tsc plot makes my head boil. I don’t only care about the characters but also the shadowhunter world? I feel like there’s so much potencial for so many cool stories and make it more and more into like this phenomenal iconic big profound story about a world that’s so fucking awesome and interesting and ancient that makes me so excited…
Like at the level of world building like HP, TLOTR or GOT
But tbh it’s not even comparable to them

Asexual Eddie Munson.
That's it.
Ace Eddie because he loves fantasy, because he would die for his friends, and that's real love, pure love. Because he went through high school obsessed with music and games, because he's surrounded himself of platonic relationships.
Ace Eddie who wears all this rings, that maybe he keeps scattered in some corner of his room, but there's one (a black version of The One Ring, from TLOTR) that he hasn't mustered the courage to wear on his right middle finger. Even though no one in this hellhole of a town would get what it means.
Ace Eddie who thinks of himself as the Freak for different reasons than everybody else. Who doesn't feel mature enough to give the next step in life because clearly there is something he's missing.
Ace Eddie who invites Chrissy to his trailer alone late at night, and it doesn't even occur to him what that may mean to her. Ace Eddie who goes to parties just to sell drugs, and not even once does he look twice at short skirts or muscular arms.
Ace Eddie who is in complete and utter love with his guitar, whose music is about rebellion and social criticism. Who is mad at the system, at the way things work. Who doesn't fit in any way.
Ace Eddie who could seduce at least half of Hawkings, because he's charming, confident and has the ability to talk to anyone, and he also could write you a song, and he has this badboy/bad influence look, and he's a little older. So he checks all this stereotipycal boxes of what is apealing, or at least the tipe of boy you'd get with to make tour parents mad/boyfriend jealous. But he doesn't even try, he just goes around having the most interesting interactions with people, and spending all his time creating alternative worlds where he can be whatever he wants, and giving that opportunity to the kids he can sense are different.
Ace Eddie who doesn't know if Wayne would understand, so he keeps it to himself. Maybe he lets him think he has some secret girlfriend (he's actually selling drugs).
Ace Eddie who is desperate to get out of Hawkings, to go somewhere else where he can be himself. Ace Eddie who stays, maybe due unconscious self-sabotage, because at least here people don't even know what it means to be like him. Because what if he gets out of this town and turns out he's actually a freak? What if he is broken, and he has to carry all that has happened to him and add this to the pile?
Ace Eddie who has an ace flag patch (he made it himself, couldn't find one anywhere) and he's saving this spot on his jacket to sew it on. He wonders if people will notice.
Ace Eddie who knows he's different from most of the people he knows, but is scared this means he's alone. Who thinks he's weird as is, but being ace might mean he will be by himself, because even Mike has a girlfriend, and what if he doesn't find someone to share his life with, and everybody else does? So he smokes some weed to forget about it.
Ace Eddie who doesn't realize he's being charming and not just funny, who makes his clients flustered when he's just joking. Ace Eddie who is unaware of the effect he has on others.
This is very self indulgent, and it also got out of hand. And I haven't watched ST in a little while, so if anything doesn't make sense I'm sorry. But yeah, Eddie as an ace icon.

it's interesting how fob has recurring, almost motifs, in their songs when it comes to instrumentals. like there's the more obvious ones in stuff like mania, with tlotr and champion, but i found a few more that were pretty cool; for example, the guitars on 'it's hard to say i do' are pretty much a more embellished version of the those in 'the music or the misery' (the instrumental part just after the chorus). then there's the drums on 'you're crashing' which are near exactly those on 'dance, dance' ; and similarities in novocaine and phoenix (more so the vocals in the chorus but still).
i'm sure there's much more but it really shows how there's a consistency in the building blocks of their songs, even though they can be of different eras and the end products have such varied sounds. i think it's part of the thing that makes fob songs pretty identifiable which is kinda pretty cool!!
sorry about the long ask, hopefully this was something fun for you lmao <3
i always love talking abt instrumentals!! too often i feel like discussion about fob music (and just. music in general if i am honest) boils down to the lyricism and while lyricism is undeniably important (ur talking to an english major here), that is by no means the only part of the song! overlooking the instrumentation feels like you're just missing out on a WHOLE lot of really cool shit!!
i agree hardcore that u can definitely see similarities in the instrumentation across different eras, and there are a lot of little throughlines if you squint hard enough. you can tell andy's background by his drumming - the others have always said that no matter what song it is, andy is always gonna play like he's in a hardcore band, and that absolutely comes thru if u pay enough attention. patrick, i've mentioned, very much writes like a drummer, which contributes to this. there are a lot of very iconic beats in songs (coffee's for closers, the numerous times the song just cuts away to let the drums hit REAL hard [centuries, my songs, etc.], and so on) and i imagine thats why he and andy feel so in sync. the others have also said that joe is just inherently rock n roll in the way he writes and i think that's generally true, and not just in the guitar parts - because joe doesnt just write for guitar, he does synths and sampling and all sorts of other shit for the band too and hes a composer in his own right. pete's the uniting element, naturally, not just in the iconic basslines and not just in the lyrics themselves, but also the cadence of that lyricism and the way it melds with the instrumentation. its a delicate balance to ensure that one doesnt overpower the other and i think generally fob is good at walking that line very well (even if i think a lot of media/audience focus gets put on the lyrics. which is you know fair considering that the lyrics are Great. but theyre not the only thing at work here!)

Tumblr media
... *theelfmaiden.exe stopped working*... uhhhhh.
I really should be careful what I wish for...
... nevermind, I'm ready, let's go, there's a quest upon me and I have to save the anon from dying!
@a-dragon-under-the-stars asks:
11. What is your least favorite pairing? - this one got me thinking a bit. In tLotR, there's no particular pairing I dislike. I'm not really a fan of Kíliel (Tauriel x Kíli) in tH, to be honest. Mainly because I don't like Tauriel much and the fact that they barely knew each other - hey, what they had, and I don't mean Kíli dying right now (spoiler alert) or whatever, may happen irl, but it just seems unrealistic... or I'm just old-fashioned.
14. Do you think that Tolkien would have liked Peter Jackson's movies? - he'd have had separate opinions on each trilogy. I always joke that every time we play the Hobbit, it makes him turn in the grave and then rise from it, when you reach the Battle of the Five Armies. He'd have disagreed with a few things, like "From a children's fairytale to an "epic" for teenagers and adults? Get thee gone, Jackson!" In case of tLotR, I imagine he'd have questioned the lack of Barrow-downs and Tom Bombadil and other iconic or otherwise important scenes. Also, as every author, he'd have been looking out for the message being delivered the right way or if it's even being delivered, if you know what I mean, but in both cases, I believe, he'd have been intrigued by the films' concepts for characters, costumes, effects; music, too, I hope he'd have liked the soundtrack. He'd have liked tLotR more, I think, not the Hobbit CGI soup (not only for this reason he'd have been pleased with tLotR more), also, he'd have been glad that neither of those films had been shot with the Beatles as main cast.
16. Rivendell or Lothlórien? - living in Rivendell, because the place's much cosier than Lothlórien, let's be honest. I keep the other realm as a favorite tourist destination, though.
19. What scene always makes you laugh? - oh my, there are so many! Gandalf hitting his head at Bag End, the Proudfoot grumpily watching Gandalf as he arrives in Hobbiton and then being caught laughing at his fireworks being launched, Gimli being Gimli throughout the entire trilogy (I know he doesn't deserve to be just a comic relief, but I can’t help myself laughing at his remarks), “the dwarf breathes so loud that we could have shot him in the dark” Haldir, and many more.
27. Have you ever had a LOTR marathon? - yes, many times. You see, where I live, there's a local cinema that annually (not last year, though, ugh) organizes film marathons, including a tLotR one, or two (because there's never enough of tLotR). I missed one, I think, out of all. It’s always so much fun having people with same passion gather and laugh and cry and quote the most known lines... it feels and is amazing. And yes, I forced people to go with me.
33. Which scene scares you the most? - the entire Sméagol-Gollum transformation. When I was a kid, I used to skip that part everytime I watched tRotK. Also, the infamous Bilbo jumpscare had my pants turn brown a few times.
@actuallyfingolfin and anon ask:
39. Who is your favorite horse? - Asfaloth, Glorfindel's horse, come on. A pity that this ask is a tLotR-only, otherwise my choice would've been different, if it wasn't (Rochallor or Nahar from the Silmarillion, but I didn't say anything, okay?).
15. If you could have any one of the character's wardrobes, whose would you choose? - I don't know. Everybody's so stylish! Galadriel? Arwen? Elrond's robes are stunning. I wonder what Erestor or Glorfindel would wear.
21. Which 3 characters would you choose to go on an epic adventure with? - the Three Hunters? It may sound basic, but you certainly won't die with those guys as companions in the wilderness. Or exchange one with Glorfindel or Éowyn or Galadriel, if they wanted to join, though.
@a-funeral-pyre asks:
10. Who is your OTP? - let's break the rules here again, kind of - Russingon! Or Gigolas. Bagginshield? I stan a queer pairing.
35. Which character would you want to be your parent? - I love my mum, but if I had to choose, then Arwen. I think she would (well, is or was, nevermind) be a good mum-material. As dad, anybody apart from movie Denethor - yes, I'm that desperate.
the second (or the same?) anon asks:
31. Fuck, marry and kill (pick 3 characters) - Fuck Galadriel, marry Éowyn and kill Legolas. Easy. Imagine killing Galadriel. You can't? Yeah, me neither, I'd be dead before I knew I'm being killed.
Guys, this had me wheezing, like, for real. I've never got so many folks asking me fun questions, thank you all for doing so (I tagged you, so you could see). If you want, you can answer your questions yourselves, so I, and others, could read your opinions about those particular matters, or answer my series of numbers - 3, 6, 23, 36 and 38! Hantalë again!

The White Tree of Gondor was the symbol of the realm of Gondor. While there were several trees referred to as the "White Tree," the best-known of these grew in the Court of the Fountain at Minas Tirith. The White Tree was also the motif of Gondor's flag. This iconic tree was in appearance a tall spacious tree of graceful form, white thin unwrinkled bark over white wood. In spring it bore numerous white flowers, but few of these ever fructified; what shape the fruit was is never described, nor was it considered to be edible. The leaves were laurel-like, dark green above and bright silver beneath. . . . . #themoreyouknow #whitetreeoggondor #tlotr #tolkien #lotr #lordoftherings #jrrtolkien #fantasy via Instagram https://ift.tt/2L7BUlf
