So there was an exotic pets expo today.  I got to meet a lot of local breeders, and, I picked up this (not so) little lady.

I just got my very first tarantula! I've wanted one for years and finally felt ready to get one. It's a Tlitocatl vagans or Mexican red rump and it's a little 1" sling. I got it from Fear Not Tarantulas and would totally recommend them. They stayed in contact the whole time and quickly answered my questions. I'm hoping it's a female, so I'm naming it Muffet and I'll let it decompress for a day or so before trying to feed it.

Is the cat on your profile pics yours ? If so, could you introduce the little fella ? :3 (and do you have any other pets ?)

He was! He passed a couple years ago, but I like to keep him alive like this. Every time I look at my profile pic I remember him, which is a great comfort. He was a beautiful cat! A blue classic tabby, really big and strong (the vet always commented on how big and beautiful he was), a good hunter... and very very cuddly!  His name was Findus

He died a few months before his 15th birthday, and he died in my arms by a vet who did home visits, so it was fine, but his passing still left a hole in my heart that can only be filled by another cat. Unfortunately my dorm doesn’t allow cats, but one day I’ll have one again

I finally decorated my female T. vagans’ tank! And I’ve decided to name her Queenie and the male Scooby. Queenie’s still skeptical of the fake plant, but I’m sure she’ll warm up to it in no time

Some spiders are good and polite and eat their food. Others get scared, run into a corner, and threaten to kick hairs.

My larger T. vagans is wild. I basically have to bribe it with food just to be allowed to fill the water bowl. I’ll get a proper hide for it at the next expo, hopefully that’ll help the jumpy/flighty behavior. It’s large enough to do mechanical damage now, so this is a serious issue.

Queenie ate her first adult roach today!! I’m so proud of my baby girl. It was quite a challenge, and at one point I was afraid I’d overestimated her. But then her venom took hold, and she started eating
