anyways there was a discussion i had with some other excellent writers in the witcher sphere about the culture surrounding magic and the nature of extended life, and thusly how it shapes young mages! betrayal being something that’s.... fairly expected and perhaps even respected, looking to see who can stab someone in the back in the most elaborate way. so really, getting yourself involved with someone in a romantic way is just looking to get yourself killed, and maybe you get bullied a little bit for it too.

even if that culture didn’t exist, and even like... before keira’s transfer to aretuza, she wasn’t necessarily interested in the concept of romance on its own? she’s always fantasized about living a princess-like fairytale, with a charming prince who’d hold open doors for her, kiss at her feet, treat her the way she believes she should be treated, but it’s more for the actual... luxury of it, rather than the want of companionship? she’s never really thought about it too hard, she tries not to, partially as a result of some unresolved childhood trauma (being left alone causes one’s thoughts to wander, so keira has a lot of weird feelings about her ability to love someone seriously in the way that other people describe it) ofc the best way to combat this is...... lots and lots of gratuitous sex! :^) if she’s desirable, then naturally, she’ll never need like, actual companionship. serious companionship. nah just call homeboy up by like sending some magic signal over airwaves or whatever the fuck and be like “wyd u up? ;)” u kno..........

she jumps into a lot of “serious” (for the other party) relationships on a whim, and doesn’t expect anything. she used to get too comfortable and after she got dumped a couple of times (naturally, for her impulsive nature), she’s basically flipped around. SHE wants to be the heartbreaker now! which doesn’t necessarily like. stop her from feeling random bouts of infatuation? and she. god she rly gets infatuated easy. like. she fell on top of geralt, dude wasn’t even trying to catch her and she basically went niagra falls ITS REALLY FUNNY BUT ALSO KIND OF SAD LMAO.... if she acts on something or not depends on her relationship with them. for example she did get like puppy crushes on every single sorceress she’s come into contact with but did nothing about it bc It Would Be Kinda Weird, Right? with geralt she just wanted to see if she could get geralt to sleep with someone other than yennefer, because she’s a roach of a woman and i hate her (but i love her so dearly.......). she absolutely did not feel bad about this afterwards because it’s a testament to how weak-willed geralt is and not how bad she is for wanting this in the first place etc etc, whatever she’s willing 2 tell herself to justify it you know.....

id also like to think though that eventually she gets to have a happy relationship! ofc she still has the wriggling feeling in the back of her mind that well, it won’t last forever but at least she’ll be able to learn to stop fixating on the concept of foreverness. she’s very much the kind of person who wants to enjoy something while it’s good!! but it takes a while and she starts it off completely casual, like she’s really only interested in sex or “conquering” them in some sort of way, but feeling attached after that and being like Lol What The Fuck? Is This Normal? I’d Kind Of Love It If This Would Stop and then................... ;_; idk eventually keira and her partner r lovingly bullying one another and she likes being held and hthbhthbthbtht . im soft for soft things!

Call it a bad habit, call it destructive behavior - Kakashi always ends up coming right back to all of his friends.

...Or former friends. Not present tense. Not anymore.

Today happens to be quite the special day - the anniversary of Rin's death at his own hands. He still remembers the first anniversary. Before that, when he would visit the graveyard everyday weeping and muttering apologies for everything, he expected that day on the calendar to be the most gutting.

But when it came, he didn't feel anything.

Nothing was different. Nothing about him felt different. He always saw Rin everywhere, saw the blood on his hands no matter what day it was. The memory of the living became a large, festering, gaping wound. It constantly bled and bled and never healed.

Just one long twinge of pain - a constant feeling of guilt picking away at his heart like vultures eating away at a corpse - as endless and common as tragedy in the shinobi world.

He remembers one time, a short while after Rin's death, Minato-sensei pulled him aside to talk to him. He told him that this grief will never go away. That his life will never be the way it used to be. But with time, and with support from the new bonds he'll make with people, it'll heal to the point where he can smile again. His feeling of happiness will be a different kind than what he was used to - but it's still happiness. And Kakashi supposed that Minato-sensei had to know what he was talking about, being a shinobi that's lived much longer than he has.

And eventually, Minato-sensei turned out to be right. Watching Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura grow, nurturing part of the next generation, spending time with them, overhearing their jokes and chuckling at the occasionally funny ones. Instead of dwelling on his regrets, Kakashi found himself complaining to Obito, Rin, and Minato about Team 7's antics, whining about the stupidly mean prank the little devils pulled on him today, and how tiring it is seeing them get so, SO close to finally getting along and never quite getting there (and apologizing to Minato-sensei after finally understanding what the poor man must've had to deal with regarding Obito and him). And for a while, the feeling that's been sliced away each and every day for years finally returned.

Until Sasuke left the village. Until Kakashi arrived to see Naruto's body, inches away from dying, cold and soaked in the rain.

Until he realized that like all those other times, he was too late.

Some days, he doesn't even know why he bothers getting up every single day. Sometimes, he wouldn't even go back home. He'd just stay up late, walk around the village, stay at some 24/7 open bar, and then catch up on sleep during training. Going back home means going back to his bed and never waking up the next day. Or ever again.

Until someone showed up that interrupted that mulling process for him.

"I knew I'd find you here." An amused voice came from behind him. He didn't have to turn around to see who it was, but he turned around anyways.

"Hello Anko."

"Hello Kakashi." She returns playfully. "Out of curiosity... you wouldn't happen to have a watch on you, would you?"

"Used to." Kakashi shrugged. "I forgot it at home."

She sighs and shakes her head. "Of course you did. But lucky for you, I remembered. It's 12:30."

"So?" Kakashi asks.

It's not until after the word slips out of his mouth did he realize his mistake.

"'So?'" Anko repeated furiously.

Uh-oh. He braces himself.

"Don't give me your back-sass, Kakashi!" She yelled, putting on the special tone that she uses for yelling at the chunin exam kids. "You were supposed to meet up with your brats more than three hours ago! I caught them lolly-gagging around Ichiraku and thought that they were skipping out on training, so I yelled at them not knowing that you never showed up!"

"That's nice."

Kakashi looked up to see Anko picking up a large rock and to save himself, quickly said "Er - guess I should meet up with them, huh?"

"That's right." She tossed it aside. "Said they had something important to tell you about their future plans. Now get outta here."

He sighs, walks past her and stops before opening the cemetery fence. He turns back to her. "You really didn't have to scold them for me, you know." Kakashi called out while walking away. "If they see you as their mom, it's gonna be your fault."

"Yeah, yeah." She waves a hand dismissively at him. "Goodbye Kakashi."

She stands there, watches him walk away for a long time, and then turns to face the memorial stone. A hand went to her chest and she sighs in relief.

bg tldr;

born in quaint little sicily and later bred in singapore, wendy was more or less raised by her dad, a retired music legend with bouts of visits from her flighty socialite half veela mother whenever she deemed fit.

her parents relationship is one word: complicated. with one so madly in love he gave up his career and the other bored with the lifestyle of a music icon’s trophy wife after a couple of years.

by the time wendy was 6?7? around there, mom was done playing this game and packed up everything and left.

needless to say, dad took it hard. fell down in the dumps for a couple years before remarrying and relocating the whole family to the states (also where she attended ilvermorny, pukwudgie pride!!!) 

though wendy and him and everyone else knows he never really got over mom—that he’d never love the same again. infuriating to watch, if she’s honest.

anyway, stepmom lowkey highkey hated her because she looks just like her mother (which, btw, stepmom was dad’s original gf that mom homewrecked) so it was a long and bumpy childhood that she hated very much.

How does Gale feel about Vivi?

The sun rises, the moon sets, the Wizard cannot fucking STAND the Witch. Gale hates Vivi with every fiber of his being and it’s a deep, deep set hatred that has spanned as long as the two entities have been alive. He will never be her friend. He will never give her the time of day. He will never extend a hand to her. While Gale is a soft and understanding being, he is also extremely set in his opinions of people once he has formed said opinions.

Vivi is the night to his day, the death to his life. The only time he will EVER allow her to step foot into his provinces is when the two of them have absolutely no choice but to join forces, but those alliances are short and unpleasant. Needless to say, the bad blood that runs between them is dark and bitter. They’ve had explosive interactions stepping into one-another’s thresholds and, as such, have learned to stay clear of one-another. If they need something from the other, they send a messenger in their steed. They CAN be cordial around each other, but in very short doses.

This is something I’ll elaborate on more because I have very Deep Lore(tm) for Gale’s character that I still just. Haven’t gotten into, but Gale and Vivi do not mix. He thinks she’s an abomination and she thinks he’s a waste of the powers given to him, although in the grand scheme of things, their telltale roles of “good/light/life” and “evil/dark/death” are necessary. Tldr Gale hates her and it’s a feud that has been in place for as many centuries as he’s been alive and although they still acknowledge the existence of one-another, don’t expect them to be standing in one-another’s presence without a damn good reason.

The Harvest Goddess/King?

Contrary to what one may think, his opinion on the Goddess and King are somewhat more complex than first meets the eye. It’s not to say that he doesn’t respect them, because he absolutely does. He does not, however, worship them or even necessarily see them as god-like entities. Perhaps because he is inhuman himself and immortal, he has lost his sense of faith. He believes in magic and things beyond humanity’s control OBVIOUSLY, but he does not believe in Gods. The Goddess and King are just servants of the Earth, the same as he (and arguably Vivi) are.

The Harvest Goddess he looks upon more favorably, although he would not technically call her a friend. She is a calming presence to which he occasionally is allowed the company of, but the two rarely interact. She knows of him and he is always aware of her, but their paths do not cross beyond times where the Earth relies on both of them or he, in her steed, carries out the will of the land in order to protect and heal it. Whether or not she favors him, he cannot say. But the times they do cross one-another, he is respectful.

The King is much more mysterious to him and leaves him with many questions on how exactly he feels regarding his existence. The Harvest King does not often get mixed up with the trifles of humanity, preferring to govern the affairs of the Earth from within his own realm, so needless to say, there are very few times in history that Gale has even MET him. Ironically, Gale sees him as very cold and regal, as opposed to the Goddess’ warmer nature. In truth, he’s a little put off by his approach, but overall, his opinion of him is very neutral.

How does Chase feel about Maya?

Listen maybe I’m in the minority but I HATE Maya and Chase’s entire dynamic and relationship as presented in game. Maya/Chase is AWFUL and I REFUSE to recognize that romantic ship on this blog, I cannot stand it. Chase’s feelings towards Maya are confused in the sense that like. He doesn’t dislike her, necessarily, but she annoys him. Maya treats Chase like nothing more than a quest to be conquered or an object she wants to win by proving herself and like??? Honestly literally never gave me the vibe that she knew anything about HIM as a person beyond “oooo he’s a cute good cook uwu notice me uwuwuwu” and then Chase is the one who got demonized for being rude to her.

Even though she bothers him, he doesn’t see her as actually hopeless or anything, though. She has good qualities. She’s determined and headstrong and if she really put her mind to it, he’s certain that she could accomplish the goals she set. But always having her act like he’s up on this pedestal and he OWES her his heart or whatever because that’s what she wants is ridiculous. Could the two of them become friends? Absolutely!! I think Chase/Maya has a lot of platonic potential, especially since Chase sees a lot of her good qualities and finds her cheerful and fun when she isn’t being... Like That.

Maya’s a nice, cute girl, but he doesn’t see her romantically (and never will!!! I’m sorry!!) He wishes she’d stop bothering him with UNWANTED!!! AFFECTIONS!!! and focus on herself more, because she could really be a good chef and learn a lot if she would just ... put her heart into it and honest to god LISTEN and TRY. He doesn’t hate her, she’s just really agitating and pushes him way too far and he’s bitter because it’s unfair that he takes the blame for that when he’s just not interested.

How do Chase & Gale feel about each other?

Gale and Chase are rarer to cross paths than some of the other townsfolk, but they do on occasion because Chase will at times find himself exploring the woods, mostly looking for animals to interact with or a place that isn’t his house to practice playing his violin. I feel like Gale would’ve stumbled upon him once or twice playing and taking a liking to it. They’re definitely, like... civil acquaintances. Not quite friends, but they’ve reached the point where the Wizard will speak kindly to him and Chase is acting friendly rather than being a tsun bitch about it KJNHKJHNM.

Chase absolutely asks Gale for help on occasion when he gets sick or will go to him on others’ behalves when they could use something for their health. Because he’s so polite about it, Gale will always do what he asks of him free of charge and wish him or whomever else is sick well.

A lot of Gale’s interactions with the other townsfolk are through Chase, unless they directly come and ASK for him themselves. If someone needs medicine, or a potion, something for their children, something to soothe pain, etc, etc. Chase will volunteer to get it from Gale because he’s Actually Nice(TM) and Gale will give it to him because unlike a lot of the other townsfolk who even to this day he has not met everyone, he does know him.

Thanks now I stan Chase/Gale mini friendship.

IkeSen “Love is Stronger than the Sword” Event Review

When this event first came out, I was extremely excited about all the potential jokes about long swords and stabbing. But alas, what we got was bit more family friendly. ^_^ In any case, my quick thoughts on each character’s story, ranked from shortest to longest, erm, sword:

It’s all about perspective: Ieyasu’s short sword, Monoyoshi Sadamune, is smaller than the rest, measuring just 33.18cm according to a website I found. But of course, that’d be monstrously long if we were talking about his other sword... ;) Anyway, most of this story revolves around Ieyasu showing off his sword prowess to a daimyo who wants to Netflix and chill “look up at the moon and recite poetry to each other”​ with MC. Lmao. Ieyasu was only a little bit of a grumpy porcupine in this route, and overall, I liked it. The fact that this guy’s sword is his good luck charm is just too cute!

Yukimura’s normal-length sword (not spear!), Senji Muramasa, gets a small crack in his ES after a spar with Sasuke’s new kunai! That can’t be good. Fun fact: Senji Muramasa was also the name of a famous swordsmith in Ancient Japan, whom IRL Ieyasu hated. Fitting, considering Yuki and Ieyasu are basically tsun rivals in this game, haha. Anyways, most of Yuki’s story revolves around his motivations for fighting (tldr to protecc), and then taking on multiple ronin like a badass. Sometimes I hate on Yuki’s ES personality for being annoying, but here I thought he was absolutely fantastic! It really reminded me of his main story personality. :) Also, I really enjoyed the bonus Shingen cameo. Love how the guy stops flirting when MC’s dating his “son,” haha.

Kenshin’s sword, Himetsuru Ichimonji, is famous for its length. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Except in this story, the crazy guy makes plans to CUT HIS SWORD SHORT after MC expresses concerns over its non-standard length! Oh dear. The legend that Sasuke cites regarding the sword’s spirit (a beautiful woman) begging the swordsmith not to cut her is actually a real legend, it turns out, which I thought was super interesting. Even more fun: MC’s actions and Kenshin’s rumor trolling pretty much form a closed time loop, even though IkeSen is supposed to take place in an alternate universe! Love it.

Since Masamune dual-wields katanas, I’ve decided that if the tips touched, he would have the most sword length. Congratulations, Masamune! In this story MC catches Masamune polishing his sword, and definitely likes what she sees. :) Then Masamune’s vassal visits, M has to rescue them from some ronin, the vassal asks Masamune to take his life, and of course eyepatch dude refuses. All in all I thought it was a cute, if somewhat awkwardly written story! But Masamune was fun as usual, going from “do not throw your life away for something so meaningless” mode to “tonight, I’m going to make all your desires come true” in like 2 minutes, haha. 

Overall, I thought this was a pretty cute event, but Masamune aside, there was an utterly tragic lack of inappropriate sword jokes in the stories. Cybird please!! Haha. Anyways, my favorite stories were Yukimura’s for good characterization, and Kenshin’s for the closed time loop. What did the rest of you think? :)

The Inevitable StS Rewatch, Episodes 26-29

Leo Aiolia is... an angry person, you say? I never would have guessed!

- This whole Aiolia scene is REALLY interesting on a lot of levels and does a lot for his character.

- I love his whole immediate reaction to just hearing that there are deserters on the loose - Sanctuary is a brutal, awful place even without the recent setup of the Pope making things even worse. You are more than likely to get killed if you are a trainee there. It is more than understandable that people would want to escape. But Lia's response is "you fucking morons."

- Well, Lia probably has baggage about people trying to "escape Sancutary" to begin with, but...

- Lia is a decent guy, especially for a Saint, but he's determinedly and deliberately Lawful Neutral as fuck. He jumps in for the deserter babies situation, is clearly stern and unpleased, but then deliberately "softens" to urge the babies to go back. He's not going to be cruel about it, and he's more "merciful" than a lot of Saints would be, but he's also not going to let them go. His preference is resolving this without having to kill anyone, sure - but if it really comes down to it, he's going to uphold Sanctuary Law.

- And then, of course, Lia gets thoroughly disrespected and shittalked to his face by a bunch of Silver fuckwits. Lol at even the trainees calling him "Aiolia-san" vs "Algol-sama." Like, dude... yikes.

- Aiolia is even kind of weirdly meek when protesting, stammering and trailing off and all. You’d never guess this guy is a Gold Saint going from the dynamics in this scene, who could effortlessly squash everyone involved here like a fucking bug.

- And finally, Lia is clearly off-put by the blatant cruelty here, but does he actually do anything about it, whether it's against Algol and Shaina directly or the broader situation? Nah.

- yumetabibito, being the filthy Aiolia-lover she is, went ahead and checked, and this scene didn't exist in the manga, and Toei almost certainly wrote it before the reveal in the manga that Lia is a Gold Saint. It's hard to imagine that it would exist if they had known, because it revolves around Aiolia getting no fucking respect. Presumably, all they had to go off of was that Aiolia cameo from the first chapter, which they seem to have mostly gotten "likes Seiya and Marin?" from. So they’re vaguely trying to align him with them as sort of a sympathetic underdog in Sanctuary.

- But even so... they somehow stumbled into a really good and fitting scene that adds a lot to his character with future context in mind!

- yume and I have talked about, well, okay, Lia gets shit on and bullied for being a traitor's little brother - that's an important part of his characterization and his motives - but where does the hostility towards him really come from? He's clearly well-liked amongst the trainees and the regular soldiers. Among the Golds - okay, yeah, Milo, Deathmask, and Aphrodite would give him shit. (Goddammit, Milo.) But most of the rest of them either don't care or would be sympathetic.

- Getting his face spit on constantly by SILVERS, though, makes a lot of sense and would be even more rage-enducing than getting spit on by his actual peers. Because the Silvers obviously feel "safe". They know that Aiolia can't actually fight back or do anything without validating everything anyone has said about him and his relationship and his brother. He has to take it. And the fact that he just takes it leads to even less respect, with him being seen as a push-over while Aiolia quietly fantasizes about stomping on their broken arms.

- So in that way, it makes sense with the shitty crop of Silvers that around that jerking Leo Aiolia's chain is thought of as actually sort of a fun, twisted game. They get to taunt a fucking GOLD, a "traitor's brother" and wave their dicks around in his face and all the Gold can do is seethe powerlessly.

- tldr; Aiolia is very angry, has always been very angry, and even though it came together like this on accident - scenes like this give a lot of depth and context to that endless, boiling anger to the point that it is really, really fucking funny that it was almost certainly Toei writing out of ignorance of who Aiolia really was. How Aiolia is treated, and how he responds to the situation - both with the deserters themselves and with Algol and Shaina being assholes - says a lot about him.

- Meanwhile, as ridiculous as the [REDACTED] are, I can't help but find the weird sci-fi HQ Saori and the Bronzies have early on charming in a really corny way. I bet Saori really misses leading from this setup compared to that shitty little stone bed and curtain they throw at her when she's at Sanctuary, jesus.

- Man, there really is a lot more SeiShiryuu service than I remembered in these earlier eps. Will never be my ship, tbh - SeiSao is my One True Love - but lmao.

- for some reason saints on a plane always cracks me up no matter how many times i see it

- (note that once again we set up hyouga rushing in to help and then getting there too late to actually do anything. beautiful beautiful failswan)

- every time seiya whines about hitting girls i want there to be a flashback to this bit of him smashing shaina into the cliff face

- Oh for fuck's sake, the Steel fucking S--

- Wait, what was I thinking. What was I talking about. I have no idea. THANK YOU SAORI YOU ARE TRULY THE BEST.

- Shiryuu vs Algol is probably one of the more engaging fights in StS, Gold Saints aside. It's fun to see Shiryuu try to find a workaround to the shield and everything he tries blowing up in his face until he's cornered into jabbing his own eyes out. The sort of contrast between Shiryuu being the Bronzie who has the best chance at actually finding a normal life and a normal happiness with Shunrei, and Shiryuu being the one who keeps throwing himself into getting mauled like this, is probably the most compelling aspect of the character to me.

- One of the things that's also nice about Saint Seiya as a shounen is that it really feels like all of the Bronzies, not just Seiya, are equally crucial members of the team and get their own equally important fights. Like, Shiryuu legitimately gets to star here and save everyone because Seiya fucked it up. I used to like Rurouni Kenshin a lot, but I remember, like, yes - Sanosuke got his "big fight", but it was very much because Kenshin graciously "let" him because he could tell it was important to Sano or whatever. Or in Bleach, where the question of the others in Ichigo's group contributing during Soul Society is basically laughable. Neither really feels like the case in Saint Seiya.

- This is totally where CLAMP got their eye horror fetish from though isn't it. God I still can't believe Saint Seiya is directly responsible for the existence of CLAMP...

- Nothing to really say about the rest of the episode, but I do have to comment:

- Dude, what the FUCK.

- ANY of the Bronzies saying shit like this about Mitsumasa is grotesque, but fucking Ikki actually sort of makes my skin legit crawl. What the fuck, Toei. SOMEONE BRING BACK THE REAL IKKI PLEASE.

- Shunrei is such a good girl. She doesn't deserve this shit, man. What she honestly deserves is the privilege of getting to stab Dohko to death in his sleep--I mean, uh, what?

- THIS WAS COMPLETELY FUCKING UNNECESSARY. WHO THE FUCK SHIPPED THIS ON THE ANIME STAFF I REALLY WANT TO KNOW

- In seriousness, HyoShun is really darling. I love how weirdly attentive Hyouga is to Shun all the time; it's a really charming recurring detail. I IMAGINE SHUN IS CHARMED BY IT TOO. 

- Hyouga's good point is that, despite his bluster, he really is a sweet kid who is 100% sincere all the time. He acts tough but it's not like he's tsun or defensive about showing people - mostly Shun - compassion and concern either.

- lmao and then Ikki ditches these losers I like how after the HyoShun he instantly starts acting a million times more in-character. Did seeing the swan touch your little brother enrage you enough to expel the brainworms at last, Ikki...?

- Saori and Ikki are really good in this scene, though. I love everything about their quick exchange - Ikki being contemptuous and defiant of her, Saori answering without hesitation "HELL YES DO WHAT I SAY" when he asks if she's ordering him around. Both in how cool Saori is, but also her frankly falling back onto really bad habits dealing with the Bronzies when she's sort of panicking and doesn't know what to do. I love the scene of her lamenting about how she couldn't stop Ikki and obviously feeling like a fuckup by herself later, too. I really do appreciate that there is attention given to the arc of Saori learning to be a leader.

- I love Sanctuary openly referring to Saori as their leader, even without knowing she’s Athena, too. Damn right she is!

- Though I do still really think Saori should have been more involved in confronting Ikki when he was still extremely (justifiably) buttmad about everything. The idea of those two having a weird, special understanding about what Saori has to answer for would have been really cool...

- AND THEN SAORI GETS KIDNAPPED BY CROWS. YOU KNOW WE'RE BACK IN CANON, BECAUSE INSTEAD OF EVIL NEFARIOUS BUGS, WE HAVE EVIL NEFARIOUS BIRDS!

i really came in here unprepared and did my pages in a frenzy—but hi i’m day and this is yejin, ala jaeger captain and unwilling mom of the edgiest kids on campus. (you’ve got a problem with any of the jaeger kids? not her problem.) i’m really wiped out right now so excuse if my tldr is a bit messy...

adopted at a young age, yejin was bscly brought home to play the role of a dead girl so her “mom” won’t die of heartbreak

needless to say she played her role as a demure proper rich girl very very well

has +1 “sibling” who hates her for it, they also attend gumi and yes it is a plot i will be requesting very soon!!

was accepted into lotus her first year here through some tough initiations even though she was more on the quiet/shy side

however, was kicked out her second year due to accidentally letting some sensitive information out to an alpha during one of the games

was quickly accepted by jaeger bc of idk reasons

and was picked for cap end of third year (and REALLY didn’t want to be cap but lost the vc spot in a game of rock paper scissors to yejun /:) 

and now she’s... a mom.... of sorts

OVERALL — years in jaeger has indefinitely toughed her up, although yejin still prefers a bit of silence and solitude at times. she has an incredibly volatile personality and is often fickle with what she wants/doesn’t want -- also is known to shift partial dragon forms to ward away conversation. has a lvl 100 rbf and knows she’s intimidating bc of it (which.. good... don’t talk to her she’s not good at it /:) and yes she’s kind of tsun and also binge-watches food reality shows and LOVES monster cage. don’t come and talk to her about your problems because she a) might not care b) def doesn’t know how to respond/deal c) 10/10 will tell her vc about it

yeah that’s pretty much what I meant by presentation, and why tbh despite my listing, I don’t consider any of them to be proper tomboys. Like, ANY of them. They all have a caveat.

Mordred and Caeneus act the part but the game makes pretty clear it’s willing to treat them as typical waifus, especially given what you’ve shown with Mordred and how Summer Caeneus was handled. They only come across as tomboys because they’re literally being written as people who do not identity as women. 

Bazzett has her final ascencion fiasco and this idea that “Actually she secretly DOES want to be more feminine”

Jalter isn’t Tomboysih, she’s a foul mouthed tsun. Big difference. Summer Jalter far better fits but is visually still presented much like once again what you’ve shown with Mordred.

Penth, same thing, plus she’s a literal amazon so there’s highly different connotations. 

Hokusai: She’s really not a tomboy, but rather kansai. She’s ‘tomboy’ the way the stock “country girl who works the farm” is ‘tomboy’ and ONCE AGAIN very clearly presented in a different light. Figuratively and literally. Hell at her higher ascensions she wears dresses and such.

Drake sort of retroactively became one but they had this stupid motherhood idea for her that was never really dropped

Musashi I feel was genuinely intended to be one but Sakurai’s head would sooner collapse on itself than let her write a proper tomboy character and so she has all the stock traits and when described she sounds like one, but never properly comes across as one, see also her FA just like Mordred.

Penthesilia...no. She’s just serious and stronk. She’s a literal amazon and even that is something they’re afraid to go all in on. She’s never felt like a tomboy, just someone who could cave my skull in. AND HEY WADDAY KNOW ANOTHER FUCKING FINAL ASCENCION ART THAT LOOKS JUST LIKE-

Summer Ushi comes the closest tbh. Which is a shame because she is not waifu she is daughter. That’s part of why she’s the closest, she’s written as a rough and tumble teenager who’s energetic and competitive. Her design fits that, being one of the summer servants who has some actual variety to their outfit and even her FA isn’t summer related but rather her playing in treetops. But it’s all presented as immature, as if it’s something to be grown out of. Definitely the only one I’d consider to visually fit but with the condition of...well, it’s a summer servant and it’s moreso relative than anything else.

TLDR, personality aside, there certainly isn’t a SINGLE servant in FGO who VISUALLY fits the idea of a typical tomboy character, - even when they have archetypical examples of damn near everything else - and even including personality they’ve only ever even gone all in on it for the characters who don’t identify as female to begin with. 

fgo will be like: ‘here’s a tomboy’ and the character in question will be in a crop top and booty shorts with thigh highs and ass length hair
