i am myhouse.wad anon it ok u were fine comerade 👍
what r ur thoughts on gen 9 pokemon?
hmmm idk if u mean gen 9 pokemon as in the pokemon or if u mean the 9th generation of pokemon so ill answer both
i think gen 9 pokemon are... okay. theres a lot of designs i really like and think are fun and interesting, but i think this gen has way more "weird" pokemon than usual. pokemon that just kinda dont look like they really belong there, if that makes any sense? baxcalibur stands out to me as a pokemon that just looks kinda odd, especially with the role its supposed to fulfill in the dex (dragon type psuedolegendary). not that i dislike baxcalibur or anything! i dont know if theres any pokemon in gen 9 i really *hate*, but there are some that i definitely dont love.
i will also say that i think it sucks that all the future paradox pokemon have the exact same thing going on. like, i kinda get it, but it sucks that only a few of them are actually interesting when you look at the past paradox forms and theyre all cool and unique feeling from each other
as for the games themselves... okay so extreme comparison but remember cp2077? full confession i bought that game on release. i was swept up by the hype at least a little bit, but i bought it after all the reviews and shit came out, so its not like i didnt know what i was getting into. and with those expectations in check (and an at-the-time new computer) i played 2077 and really liked it! not a gamechanger by any means but it was a solid, fun video game.
the thing is that it feels super irresponsible to say that about 2077, because in a lot of ways, it is not a solid video game. even on my high end pc i was running into crazy bugs and consistent performance issues regardless of settings, and console players didn't even get to play the game they bought at launch. (as an aside i think its fucking crazy that that game managed to save its reputation because even now im not 100% convinced it deserves to go down as anything other than a dumpster fire)
anyways. that's kinda how i feel about gen 9. technically speaking these games have a lot of problems, the kind of problems that games being released under the flag of one of the most profitable franchise fucking Ever really shouldn't be having. even with that though, they're the most fun ive had with pokemon since gen 5. i love the gen 9 games for reminding me that pokemon can be as fun now as it was when i was 12! but i hate that despite being one of the biggest cash cows ever, pokemon games aren't given the resources to be amazing, just... good enough.

I've recently seen again a post talking about the Sableye and Dusknoir's relationship so i'd like to put my two cents in the discussion, for I love screaming into the void about PMD. (this isnt meant to discourage any other interpretations btw this is just my take on theirs and Dusknoir's relationship, bc I think they're very fun characters and I am very glad the game actually gives these minions a bit of relevance in se5).
Tbh I don't buy that Dusknoir treats the Sableye nicely, at least not out of kindness. I don't think he's a tyrant or inexplicably mean, of course, and I think his minions ADORE him, but i also believe that doesn't mean he's nice to them, sth that i consider meaningful for their character arcs.
Throughout the entire game he's exclusively giving them orders, in se5 he concocts a plan that involves thrashing them MULTIPLE times (he's lucky Grovyle isn't one to try and kill enemies in battle ig), and the cherry on top is that the first time we see him being fully genuine he does this:
(yes, he is in turmoil in here, but there's not a single thing implying that 1. this is an unusual response towards the sablye, 2. dusknoir feels bad for it at some point or is surprised at himself, 3. this has any impact in the sableye at all. You can argue these reactions happen off screen and we don't see them, they don't happen bc they have pressing matters to attend to or they happen after they return to life, and that's perfectly valid, but i'm sticking with what the game shows us, here.)
I must say, though, the fact that the Sableye, despite having been almost mindless pokémon up to now, STAND UP TO AND ATTACK Primal Dialga for their boss and even try to look after him despite him ordering them to check on Grovyle and Celebi first is SO important to me. they are goons to the bone and they love that scheming ghost so much.
My own view is that Dusknoir is generally polite to them (you wouldn't randomly break your own revolver or weapon without any reason, would you?), but is quicker to get mean with them than with people he doesn't know or he is seeking to manipulate. He doesn't care about their behaviour as long as they get the job done, which is why I think the anime thing of the Sableye climbing onto his shoulder isn't that remarkable, rather it's a very cute moment, one that is showing how they've been working together for long and how their size difference affects their interactions, but it is not necessarily conveying an affectionate bond (this is a bit random, but it reminds me of Disney's Jafar with Iago lmao. throw your pet sableye at your enemies so they mock them and then return to your shoulder). Additionally, Dusknoir letting the Sableye onto his shoulder is probably as close as we are gonna get to a villain turning around in his chair while petting a cat in PMD lol.
[this isn't meant to be a one-to-one comparison, it's just a detail i find cute and shows that this gesture can have multiple interpretations, with none being the only right one]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Leaving that aside, I hesitate to claim Dusknoir trusts his Sableye as allies, as Grovyle makes a point in the main story of how the Sableye (your Sableye, he says, as if objectifying them; not friends, but tools, weapons at Dusknoir's disposal) are lacking compared to the way hero/partner/grovyle support one another (power of friendship and hidden information babyyyy). The Sableye are used to Dusknoir's way of doing things, though, I'm sure. They know what happens when he's displeased, after all.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think, most of all, the Sableye are meant to look disposable: they are 6 identical pokémon that almost act like a hivemind, and we are not supposed to think at all about how we may hurt them in battle any more than we do with the angry Manectric pack or random dungeon pokémon. This, I believe, is why the game has them stand up against Dialga and gives them unique dialogue at the end of se5. They're meant to show their inner shine, just as Dusknoir managed to do. They suddenly gain an individuality they had never shown while they were working to maintain the dark future.
Where they abandoned Dusknoir in the Old Ruins, now Grovyle has motivated them to look for their dignity and fight for a better world, and that starts with protecting their leader from Primal Dialga's rampage, and supporting his new objective and allies in their quest to save the future. In their own small way, they've also grown as characters throughout SE5.
I believe that, overall, Dusknoir saw the Sableye as tools, but thanks to their growth and clear care for him, there's a possibility he might start to see them (and by extension other pokémon) in a more genuine, less pragmatic / objectifying way in the future. Now that Dusknoir has the chance to live a fulfilling life, he may learn to care for others without surrounding himself by so many walls. If anything, I think their future is quite bright. Not that the Sableye would mind if he still thrashed them around, though lol, they're clearly not bothered much by it (special episode 0 had a great depiction of the sableye imo, you can check that romhack if you haven't yet).
In conclusion, look at these little guys who adore their can-get-mean-but-is-mostly-polite boss and probably have a body count but now are good, they're so cute:
Tumblr media
#tldr: i think dusknoir not being nice and them being cowards is what makes their se5 actions more significant. they both have an arc#this is all surface level analysis i know but thats how i read them#i didnt bother to talk about grov saying the sableye do 'all the dirty work' around the future bc i didnt know where to put it but. uh.#add that to the prepared execution room and i think these guys have killed people lmao#i must reiterate this isnt throwing shade to any headcanons this is just what i got from the game. people are free to have fun.#also. dusknoir in the middle of his se5 panic attack and existential crisis: get the fuck out of my way this is my moment#HE GETS OUT OF HIS CRISIS ANIMATION SO FAST TOO. HE REALLY SAYS 'not now sweaty. daddy's having some him time' and slaps them#so he can go back to his drama queen pose#hes so awesome. gay toxic uncle behavior#his nemesis is in agony the entire time while this happens. se5 is truly peak fiction#the height difference is so funny too#like no wonder dusknoir didnt have any issue trying to kill the mcs. the sableye are tinier than some starter options ewionfwojfewo#highly throwable imps they are#him beign a bit jerk and him letting the sableye climb him up to give him rocks like in the anime special are not mutually exclusive. to me#this is pokemon. these magic creatures constantly beat up each other#the sableye get climbing privileges if they are good boys and it is useful to give him what he's looking for. and also it's very cute#this was gonna be just a textpost but then it got long and i strted looking for game moments that seemed relevant to the sableye oops#i like to babble about this game and dusknoir especially#sableye#dusknoir#pmd2#'scribz isnt it cringe to write 500 words retelling the events of a children's game' look if 90% of eos video essays can do it then so can#this is the closest thing my lacking understanding can manage to a meta/analysis post ig

If Leon was a trans guy in the Jolly Rogers universe, I imagine that he would have had a really hard time of it his whole life thanks to certain people. If he was still champion and everything mostly happened the same up until he goes to Alola, how would meeting Guzma and the rest of team skull go, considering they view gender completely differently than what Leon might be used to dealing with?
So, to answer this question I'll probably reference some parts of the story, so 🛑spoilers🛑 for anyone who hasn't read it....
Now, there are, of course, prejudices in Alola as there are most places toward trans folk, hence the twin's (oc grunts Pink and Blue) situation. However, I think Leon will come to be surprised that the snarky Skull Boss does not poke fun at that aspect of him even once.
We've already sort of seen how Guzma views others in terms of sex and gender. For example, even when thinking about the twins, he only ever describes them as 'boys', 'brothers', 'morons', etc. The fact that Blue is trans is not something that ever crosses his mind UNTIL someone else brings it up and dares to misgender him. I imagine, that even if he clocks Leon as trans without the champ straight up telling him, it's more of a footnote in Guzma's brain about him than anything else. So, let's say Guzma was asked to describe Leon's most defining traits... his brain would probably turn up things like "man younger than me," "dark, long hair," "bright eyes," "scatterbrained," "large, muscular chest," etc. In other words, though Leon is a trans man, Guzma sees him as simply a man first and foremost. This is likely not a conscious thing Guzma does, and has roots in the fact that the majority of positive adult influences from his childhood happened to be māhū.
This may actually lead to some misunderstandings. I know that being trans for some folk is a very important part of their identity and that they would much rather have the distinction between transman and cisman. In my interpretation of Leon, I don't think he'd care as much about the distinction and would focus more on being seen and thought of as a man in general. However, the fact that Guzma is so unreactive (and almost uninterested) in the fact that Leon is trans is actually a bit of a shock and kind of confusing (but also refreshing). He may think Guzma is just messing with him or being insensitive and just "pretending like he isn't" as I'm sure he's had to deal with in the past. Alternatively, he just thinks Guzma is completely oblivious to the fact. Of course, any of this would be resolved once the two just sat down and had a bloody conversation.
I could totally see Leon stressing about needing/wanting to tell Guzma he's trans and being unsure how he'll take it and finally mustering up the metaphorical balls to do so only for Guzma to be like, yeah I fucking know that already??? I'm sure some entertaining banter would ensue.
The rest of the islands aside, I think Leon would find himself extremely comfortable and at home in the shady house, it being very inclusive and accepting, a good bit of its residents being some flavor of queer, neurodivergent, misunderstood, etc. I'm sure some of the grunts are thrilled to have him (as a trans adult) around- physical affirmation that yes, it's not a phase, yes you can grow up as the person you want/are meant to be, yes you don't have to compromise for anyone else's sake, yes you can, you WILL be happy.
I think Leon would really enjoy that. He's use to being a role model, but this is different and I think it means something important to him. I also think Leon would really appreciate the idea of māhū and the idea that gender is not simply "one or the other". I think it's validating and would help him be more accepting of himself, allowing him to be proud of his more "feminine" features or tendencies without feeling like they detract from his masculinity or identity as a man.
I think Leon would also be able to extend some of this to Guzma himself. As it's implied in the story thus far, for himself gender is a difficult subject to breach due to the abuse he suffered from his father. The understanding he subconsciously extends to others, he subconsciously does not grant to himself. I think Leon sharing with him some of the struggles he's overcome through the years, may connect some synapses in Guzma's brain. Maybe Lee can get him to acknowledge the contradiction within himself....

look i agree that the whole brony era of the internet was horrific and traumatizing for many (myself included) and while im glad that it has resulted in more ppl becoming aware of creeps in kids spaces i think it has also made a lot of u WAY too harsh toward adults who like kids media bc i saw someone on twitter say it was "invading kids spaces" for adults to go to an all-ages warrior cats themed event

I watched a playthough of the Teal Mask and to me, (right now at least, we'll see if that changes after The Indigo Disk) Kieran and Carmine seem a lot like undiagnosed neurodivergent kids who don't know how to put their situation into words.
I relate a lot to both of them in very different ways, there was a long while in late elementary (and would have been middle school if i went to one) where I didn't know how to expresses how I felt and ended up lashing out in various ways. Carmine is a lot older then i was when this was happening but i still see my own experiences in her. I switched very often from mature and stable seeming to mean and aggressive and would often seem both ways at the same time. i'd go from eloquent to bratty at a moments notice. I was a real dick in general and i don't think any of what i did was good or 'justified' (my understanding of that word is starting to slip), but i was doing all this because I fundamentally didn't understand myself and what was "wrong" with me.
Kieran is a different side of the same coin, and a little bit more straight forward. He's a shy kid with an interest that very few around him share. He really likes it when the player character takes an interest in the ogre and gets mad when Carmine doesn't let him in on the plan to help it. He also relates to the story of the oger and sympathizes with it when others don't. His anger when Ogerpon likes the player more then him is understandable to me, not good at all but understandable.
A lot of this leads to my reading that Kieran is autistic, and I feel a lot of my experiences as an autistic person myself in him. I haven't quite pinned down how i feel about Carmine and interpret her other then a vague sense of 'she has issues and should probably get some outside help'.
on top of all of this I think it's interesting to see how they interact with each other through this reading. I was an older sister and see a lot of my situation with my brother with them. I had too many mental issues to handle inside so i ended up pushing away my brother because i simply couldn't put any energy towards being a good sibling for him. Carmine is rude to Kieran and is often surprised when Kieran says anything to defend himself. Much like my situation with my brother I hope we see them figure out their issues and understand themselves and each other better. The ending of the Teal Mask left a lot of this open so i'm exited to how this ends.

re: your thoughts on legendaries (which is very cool and based) what’s your take on the differences between legends:arceus giratina and platinum giratina, especially since you defined them as hating the world? specifically the bit where giratina (at least seemingly) actively defended the world from cyrus trying to destroy it, after trying to do the same thing with volo’s help centuries prior?
Weird ghost worm upon yee (AND MORE ART BELOW CUT!)
Tumblr media
Anyways, here’s my mad ramblings about Giratina and Arceus’s backstory.
Tldr: Giratina’s a conglomerate of angry souls scorned by Arceus.
(Here’s the playlist. It’s all about worms.)
How it Started.
The original one has chosen favorites over the passage of time. Heroes, legends, protagonists…
Arceus intervenes for those it loves, and the consequences of a god touching the mortal world is devastating in its entirety. One act of divine intervention causes entire civilizations to collapse. One whispered suggestion drives an entire legacy insane.
So Arceus, paralyzed by its love for the mortal world, acts very little, learning from its mistakes. Apathy soaks through every motion. And thus is the way of the world.
But people love the Originator. Religions are born from Arceus’s rare deeds, and generation on generation taught its benevolence. Imagine spending your entire life chasing after that golden light. Imagine knowing its real and there, and it loves you.
Imagine begging it for help, and seeing it turn away when you need it most.
I think those people would feel very abandoned indeed, if they spent their lives worshipping, and receiving no response at all.
Giratina is born from the abandoned, the lost, and the angry. They’re a hundred thousand souls who’s adoration turned to spite. They’re an entity who demands for Arceus to look at them, so they can finally rest.
Arcues can not look at them in full, because if it does Giratina will fade.
Tumblr media
(Scio, beloved. For I can not let you go.)
So the Original One banishes the Unwanted Beast into the distortion world, and Giratina seethes, and starves, and screams.
Tumblr media
(Here are two truths about the Beast Between Dimensions—
1. Some part of them still loves Arceus. Arceus is their anchor, after all— the sole reason why they exist, why they are. But Arceus can not love it back in a way that matters, and that hurts.
2. Giratina is made of a thousand voices. Some of these voices remember that there’s a world above. They miss it.)
Why Giratina attacked Hisui in PLA:
PLA Giratina’s not a new god, but they’re very, very bitter and barely coherent on a good day. Volo serves as a conduct to help unite the broiling mass of ghosts against Arceus, and thus Giratina’s hatred overcomes any flickering affections they have for the land.
It doesn’t help that Arceus intervened for Hisui, sending Akari to directly stop Volo from summoning Giratina.
(As for Volo, well.
Imagine being a child who was thrown into the future due to Palkia and Dialga’s fits, who learned his people (his world) no longer exist beyond a shadow in the history books and a single, bitter lore keeper.
Volo doesn’t remember his original culture beyond vague imprints and singing praises to Sinnoh, but he knew he was loved, and he knew his family is dust four hundred years in the past. There’s a special sort of rage in him that echoes Giratinas.)
(Why did you abandon my people, Arceus? What kind of god are you, to leave those who love you so callously behind?)
(Maybe some part of Giratina recognizes Volo, beyond a feeling of kinship.
Maybe some part of Giratina grieves because it recognized the child Volo was.)
When Volo gets his pound of flesh, (when he realizes Arceus is not beholden to him, that the inherent alien morality Arceus holds is not a personal slight), Giratina will finally rest.
Anyways what I’m trying to say is: Arceus is never a person, but a nebulous embodiment of the connection shared between pokemon and humans. It tries to experience what it’s supposed to embody, but millennia of watching people be and cease has given it choice paralysis, apathy, and a hoarding issue. If something lasts forever next to it? Good.
Giratina was once a person. (Correction, a LOT of persons.) They don’t think very linearly either, but they have context on mortal matters and are thus the more benevolent and malicious of the two. One day, time will smooth them into something like Arceus. We can only hope the two keep each other in check.
THE DIFFERENCE OF LEGENDS ARCEUS GIRATINA VS PLATINUM PEARL GIRATINA
If the ancient version of giratina is an angry conglomerate of ghosts scorned by Arceus, the modern iteration of Giratina’s a creature that’s more settled in its skin and more assured in its duties. Giratina still has beef with Arceus, but they unionized into one being who’s love of the mortal world has triumphed over its ancestral grudge. One might even postulate they have shifted their anchor from Sinnoh the god, to Sinnoh the place.
((We call this character developement. Good for you, weird ghost worm!))
Tumblr media
(((FULL DISCLOSURE, VOLO BEING FROM THE PAST IS INSPIRED FROM FOXFALL. You know. The fic that got me into this fandom. Please give it some love.)))

So with all the stuff going on around Nintendo Vs Pocketpair I feel like people are missing the point of what's going on.
And this article actually finally brings up the biggest point: Nintendo has 1000s of patents and chooses not to enforce them all on everyone.
The idea that, quoting the article and Serkan Toto, "Nintendo's sweeping list of patents means it likely "could have sued half of the gaming industry back in 2017," …so like WHY NOT DO THAT?
There's a million reasons to not do it for Nintendo but TLDR is it's just bad business for them to do so.
The real take away is -what has PocketPair/Palworld done- that has brought out Nintendo to start enforcing these things in this particular situation?
A lot if you pay attention to PocketPair/Palworld's marketing and social presence. They threw rocks at Nintendo, so Nintendo is finally pushing back.
Now I'm not going to fully go to bat for Nintendo and say "they are a good company" because there's no such thing truly…
But in most cases with Nintendo, they C&D folks multiple times before even thinking of escalating anything to real legal trouble. Which is kinder than most companies.
The final thought of the article says that Nintendo may feel "threatened" by PalWorld but… I don't buy it.
Pokemon is THE highest grossing franchise in the world… ever… of all time. It's total revenue is around $100 BILLION with a B.
PalWorld, even at it's height, didn't even come close.
The aspects that I think Nintendo decided to act upon in their mind for this is the brazen bold rudeness and shit talking that happened on social media/marketing with PocketPair/Palworld.
PLUS the fact that Pokemon fans were also quick to be like "bruh, even if this isn't stolen it's obviously design lifted" for a lot of Palworld's Pals.
Add in the fact that both Microsoft and now Sony have pulled PalWorld onto their platforms… Nintendo is going to notice and get mad.
The truth is that PocketPair is an indie dev… with major AAA studios behind it now in a lot of ways. Which actually hurts PocketPair in a sense.
Nintendo tends to ignore indie stuff and has actually collabed with many indie studios before in major ways, so they aren't anti-indie.
Nintendo is OLD SCHOOL and expects a little bit of respect.
Nintendo has not taken action against pretty much any of the other true new Tiny Critter Collecting Indie IP that have popped up, a lot of them are ON Nintendo platforms and have had Nintendo feature them in directs…
But PocketPair threw rocks. Nintendo easily saw this as disrespect, but could be ignored.
What CAN'T be is the outcry from their own fanbase to "look into things" with PalWorld to see what, if anything, was lifted from Nintendo directly.
And Nintendo did. They took over a year to look into it.
This isn't Nintendo doing a knee jerk reaction, they went over things and took their time to research what PalWorld and PocketPair were doing.
Nintendo isn't stupid. They don't pick fights for no reason.
Regardless of if you LIKE Nintendo, or your feelings on a big company taking on a little company… Nintendo is very likely on the right side of business, IP, and patent law here.
Nintendo -losing- here would be, actually, really bad for small folks more than big guys in the long run.
Adding in the fact that PocketPair launched a generative Ai art game on top of all that…
This feel like, yes, Nintendo is flexing in a lot of ways but… they chose who to flex on and not to flex on -everyone-… so there seems to be a solid reason as to -why-.
Again the real take away is that IF Nintendo could have sued half of the gaming industry (as of 2017) with all the patents they have … why didn't they and WHY are they choosing to sue PocketPair/Palworld -now-?
Because that's more important than anything else.

so the Pokeverse drama for those who don't use twitter
I am using these threads
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They copied the slogan from the biggest pokemon group in the Philippines
The tickets costed P1000 (17$) and for The Philippines that is double the average price, and the VIP tickets were P6000 ($102). and the three day ticket costed P19500 ($331). While children got in for free, it was either under 5 or under 12. That info wasn't clear enough
Cosplayers got in for half the price, except one who cosplayed someone the staff didn't recognize
There were first 39 artists tables, that then went down to 15
There was the ravioli man, a man who ate a jar of ravioli and smelled bad (children were at the event btw)
It was 9000$ per table. and the tables were 1mx1m
Several activities were falsely advertised or had a lot of missing info. The baking one not even being baking and the digital painting one being for kids, but they required the kids to bring with them their own ipad. The teacher was prepared to teach in autodesk sketchbook for an older kids, there were 9 year olds there. The teacher did do a good job though
The artists were not treated well at all. One of the artists spoke out about it on her facebook
They ran out of tickets on day two so they used stars
After a decade long return, the inflatables returned
there was no lounge for the cosplayers to change into their cosplays
The camera crew did not respect people's privacy
The healider guests, Veronica Taylor (one of Ash's voice actors) and Jason Paige (the guy who sang the pokemon opening) were really nice during the entire event however. But they were not paid
A really shitty stamp rally compared to one organized by Pokecon (organized by Pokemon Philipines)
Make-a-wish worked with Pokeverse. But instead of pokeverse letting the kids meet the headliner guests in private. They had immunocompromised kids stand on stage with a ton of stranger around them. They recorded the kids faces and everything on facebook, they had to introduce themselves. They decided to film someone who the staff knew had scopophobia and uploaded their face without their consent,
They filmed several people without their consent,
the person who made the thread complained on facebook and pokeverse did not liked being exposed
Also she posted this
Tumblr media
TLDR, this is probably the worst con event i have seen someone talk about. Not respecting peoples personal space, not protecting immunocompromised kids, and having horrific company transparency and taking advantage of pokemon fans both young and old

The White Dragon
“In ancient history, when one seeking Truth appears, so does Reshiram. Reshiram faces them, testing their mind & strength. Once the test is complete, & Reshiram recognizes the human as a Hero, they bestow knowledge & wisdom upon them, & bear their fangs towards any who mean to harm them. Reshiram thus watches over the Hero similar to a loving parent. However, if the Hero’s eyes ever become clouded with greed, wealth & power corrupting their good heart, Reshiram will turn the Hero’s country into a land of flames, then leave their side forever…”
-adapted from the beta leak
A combination of things led to this - feeling a little stuck on the DxP page I’m on, the beta leaks, already thinking about the possible next story in Unova whenever we get BW remakes / sequels, & the reappearance of a song that took over my life when I was younger that also involved a white dragon: “Sóra” (Escaflowne the Movie). 🪽
youtube
At face value, Reshiram is an odd match for Ansy; Fire / Dragon, their Electric counterpart Zekrom would be a much better fit for a rain user, & representing an absolute while Ansy is a very strong believer of balance.
Putting aside their Pokedex entry that says “when Reshiram's tail flares, the heat energy moves the atmosphere and changes the world's weather” (heat being a key ingredient to clouds, turning water to vapor), I feel like maybe it was mostly because Ansy saw the truth that balance is what’s needed - whether it’s Truths & Ideals, or both living together with Pokemon & respecting their space. That’s why N lost all those years ago - he was unbalanced, largely thanks to Ghetsis’ methods for raising him to be the Hero of Ideals involving rejecting Truth over Ideal to pursue a fantasy (at least in Ansy’s timeline)
Going into Kyurem’s leak (btw, if you read the Pokedex or look into the Mystery Dungeon games, it seems most if not all these leaks about the Tao trio are actually canon), Kyruem can see the future. I wonder if maybe that was the reason for splitting of the Original Dragon, where the first Twin Heroes fought with each other over Truth & Ideals - what if the elder twin argued they had to follow the Truth of the predicted future while the younger fiercely held on to an Idealistic alternative?
Or, even more tragically…what if it was a self-fulfilling prophecy, the Original Dragon predicting the Twins would fight, & they would break in two, leaving Kyurem as their empty shell?
Then there’s the mystery of how this Original Dragon fell from the sky as a meteor in ancient times, the Giant Chasm being the falling site (filled with meteorite Pokémon like Solrock & Lunatone). Were they pulled here by the future they saw?
TLDR: I really like lore 📖

how to play pokemon games to study japanese
Tumblr media
I just started playing pokemon omega ruby in japanese and have been having a great time with it! The language has been surprisingly simple so far, and I've found it a lot easier to get into than animal crossing. I used a few different resources, so here's a guide on how you can play pokemon in Japanese for language learning:
Choosing a pokemon game
Tumblr media
I used this video from gamegengo to decide which game to play and ended up with omega ruby. The tldr of his video is choosing a game that you have access to (in Japanese), that's easy to read (graphics quality makes a huge difference for japanese characters), that's in level. He documented his findings here
Access: Emulators, especially on the PC, are great options for older games. This is especially true for games that are region-locked and need a specific Japanese version to play the game in Japanese. Multi-language support wasn't added until pokemon x/y, so anything older needs a JP version game
Readability: characters on switch games look great, 3DS is also very good. DS is good, anything older can be a bit of a challenge
Hiragana, Kanji, Furigana: prior to pokemon black and white, all text was in hiragana. This can be really challenging if you're used to seeing text with kanji, it can make words much harder to recognize. However, furigana has only been added in arceus and scarlet/violet
Level: All of the pokemon games rank between N3 to N2 except for arceus, which is N2 to N1. I am studying for N3 and am not having much trouble with omega ruby, although I am slow at reading and this is one of the easiest rated games. Someone who is a complete beginner would struggle a lot with these games depending on the amount of reading they intend to do (you don't really need to read to be able to play pokemon)
2. Game resources
There are a variety of resources to help make playing video games in japanese easier. Normally, I would like to just play the game and absorb the content without having to look up a lot of it. Unfortunately, since most pokemon games don't include furigana and aren't voice acted, there is no way to learn how to read a word with kanji you don't know other than to look it up.
Poke Corpus: amazing tool for querying text dumps from different pokemon games. Select the game you're playing and the language, and then write a query with some of the text from a sentence you want to look up. Works great, keep in mind the search is exact (including spacing). It also shows results from other languages, so in addition to pulling all the text for lookup you can see the english translation (which is localized, so is not always a direct translation)
Yomitan: a japanese pop-up dictionary browser extension. Very helpful if you ever read japanese on a computer. I used this video for getting it set up. Very customizable with different dictionaries
Game2Text (PC only): if you're playing a game on an emulator on your computer, this is a great tool for grabbing the text straight from the game. Additionally, since this works inside a browser, any browser extensions (like yomitan) work with this.
Google translate lens: I really don't like this, because it isn't going to be as accurate and it won't show you individual word translations, it will just blur out and translate the entire sentence. But works in a pinch

Note
I was thinking about how I'd turn your earth Bois into pokemon and I think I have settled on gimmick split evolution,
Geo: grass and or normal type. evolves with exp candies or other pokemon on the team fighting (does not battle) until level 30.
Cat: grass and dragon type, evolves the opposite way of Geo.
Hills: pure grass type, evolving with leaf stone at any level.
Idyll: grass and fairy type, evolving at level 45 with max friendship.
I picked those types for Idyll and Cat because they are on the opposite side of the scale of being a good person so I made Idyll a fairy type because it is super active against dragon type and dragon type has no effect on fairy type.
tldr I wanted to share my autistic rambling about how your characters would be as pokemon, hope you like :P

Eating that creative idea 💕💕💕

TLDR
I'm trying to mak a porn with plot pokemon fan comic. expand the post if you're interested. Otherwise fight me in hell.
the first 54 pages of this are completely harmless and are all plot and character interaction. I will not (nor can I) subject tumblr users to yucky interspecies size difference porn.
I'm publishing it on comics fury https://crucible.thecomicseries.com/ there, you can eventually read it with easy navigation, and you can sub to an RSS feed.
You can also read ahead on patreon, but I don't think I'm allowed to link NSFW on tumblr. Use google if you are brave enough. As of this post, I have 18 pages posted to the patreon. I am aiming to have a page out every Saturday. Many pages are technically done, but I'm also giving early pages an overhaul. And I'm stupid, and I'm an impotent perfectionist. So we'll see. With regards to the second page, third image: I am using placeholder names in an attempt to erode the relationship with this fan work to the official IP. These names are not good, but whatever. ok bye

This post WILL contain SLIGHT Pokémon sun/moon spoilers :)
The only Pokémon game I own is Moon, so naturally I’ve played it like 10 times since Pokémon is like crack for autistic people. For those who don’t know, Pokemon Moon’s designated ‘stinky evil gang who does evil’ is called Team Skull.
Tumblr media
The general public considers them little more than a minor inconvenience, which is fair since like…they can barely even hold their own in an argument, let alone during an actual battle. Multiple people say they’re thugs, good for nothing thieves, that kinda shit.
But later on in the game it’s revealed that they’re literally all homeless? They took over an abandoned town at the far north end of an island. It’s perpetually raining. They don’t even have power. And everyone KNOWS they live there. This group of teens is being headed by two young adults. And no one gives a fuck.
My question is WHY??
Guzma and Plumeria (the head and admin of team skull) don’t have any fucking money. Everyone knows that. Which begs the question: who the fuck does everyone think they’re selling stolen Pokémon to? It’s not Guzma! And everyone knows it isn’t!
My point here is that everyone shafts these homeless kids just because they’re a little annoying and have to steal shit to live. Is that not fucked up? I see a lot of people talking about “ohh team skull sucks they’re so pathetic”, but like…that’s the point. They are. They’re down on their luck. They’re poor. They’re on the streets. And everyone is just going “oh haha L team skull”.
None of them are even bad people, really. Guzma is a little mentally ill, but give him some therapy and he’d probably be chilling. Plumeria just wants to make sure her ‘siblings’ (the grunts) are taken care of, and she only comes for you when you threaten her gang.
The grunts can be a little rude sometimes but they’re not really bad people…they just act tough so someone might take them seriously for once. They’re literally just trying to get by. They’re even *nice to you* if you’re nice to them. Like they’re just fucking normal kids if you don’t point and laugh.
TLDR: Justice for team skull. Alola fucking shafts them on purpose and if they were written better I would love the Pokémon team forever 🙏
