When your boyfriend, Onyankopon, or ‘Ony’ for short, texted you with a simple ‘get ready’ you immediately hopped up to pack an overnight bag.

After you finished your dinner, Ony called for the waitress so he could pay then the two of you left with him guiding you by the small of your back to his car.

he knew he should’ve kept you from going on this mission. he knew. his gut told him he should’ve ignored your whining and forced you to stay back, but in the end he gave in to your request. it was as if the world was in slow motion; he watched the titan grab your line and throw you to the ground.

the world around him slowed.

his heart sunk and jaw clenched at the sight.

he somehow made it to the titan before it could grab you again, quickly killing it off. he blamed himself for not being able to stop it the first time. but now that he held you in his arms the world seemed to have completely come to a stop. the fighting, the bloodshed, everything around him seemed to have freeze in time, it was only him and you.

“not yet… not like this…” he fumbled for a pulse, anything to tell him you were still with him.

“cadet open your eyes…breathe, something!” he knew he was losing his composure, but if you didn’t open your eyes this damn second he wouldn’t know what he’d do.

the absence of a pulse brought a wave of dread over him.

“it wasn’t supposed to be like this…. damnit (y/n)”

his fingers brushed over your blood soaked hand and he held it close. he gently pressed his lips to the back of your palm for the first, and last time. he tore away sooner than he would’ve liked, but left a belated confession and a silent promise to finish this final battle with you at his side.
