hiiii i just readed that you wants other players requests 😀😃 but i think thats fine.
what about a one where the reader is shorter than gavi, it's like it's because Gavi is the shortest one between his friends and he always prayed to have a short girl, and when he had one he really enjoyed the moment with her
thank you if you did write it ❤❤
My Smurf~Pablo Gavi
*Pictures are from Pinterest*
i hope you enjoy this one <3
request from here
master list
players/drivers I write for
Everyone could see that Pablo wasn't too tall. He was actually considered to be short in his team, with players like Araujo or Lewandowski who were almost 190 cm.
Pablo was about 173 cm, and because of his short height, he always fantasized about having a short girlfriend. He wanted a girl who would look tiny next to him, even when he himself wasn't huge.
So after he met y/n and they started dating, the thing he adored the most about her was her height. She was small next to him, about 153 cm. Her head reached his shoulder, and she always had to look up at him, and he had to look down at her, which he adored.
He loved when she had to stand on her tip toes in order to reach his face and kiss him. And the thing he loved most was teasing her about how small she was. Even when he wasn't that big.
y/n was in the kitchen, making herself some coffee in the morning before leaving for work. She started working on her coffee, when she realized her favorite mug was put in the highest shelf of the cupboard.
Pablo was the one who unloaded the dishwasher the previous day, so he was obviously the one who had put it that high.
y/n tried reaching for her mug, standing on her highest tip toes, but she only managed to brush her fingers against it and push it more inside.
Pablo stood on the kitchen door, watching in amusement how his girlfriend struggled to reach her cup. He chuckled to himself before getting her attention.
"need help?" he asked, a sly smirk spread on his face as his arms were crossed over his chest.
y/n rolled her eyes, turning to look at him with a mocking smile.
"if you didn't put it so high I wouldn't need your help" she said sarcastically, making him chuckle
"so you do need my help?" he said, walking closer to her
She huffed and crossed her arms over her chest. "i just need my mug" she murmured
He walked closer to her, trapping her body between his and the counter, as he reached up for the mug and grabbed it effortlessly.
He looked down at her, while she looked up at him with her big doe eyes. He leaned down, pecking her lips before giving her the mug.
When she didn't say anything, he took the mug and lifted it above his head, to a level which she can't reached. She tried reaching out for it, but he raised his arm even higher.
"a thank you would be nice no?" he teased, watching how she rolled her eyes.
"it was your fault the mug was too high so I'm not saying thank you" she said, watching how the smirk on his face widened
"I guess I'll just put it back in it's place" he shrugged, moving his arm to put the mug back high
"no I need it. just give it to me" she tried again reaching for it, but he moved his arm away and higher than her reach.
She groaned, looking at his teasing smile that she wanted to slap off his face (gently)
She gave up, letting out a sigh.
"thank you for the mug Pablo. now can you give it to me?" she said, making him smile
"you're welcome princess. here take your mug" he gave it to her, patting the top of her head, and pressing a kiss on it.
"I don't know what you would've done without me. my little smurf" he teased, making her groan.
"i told you not to call me that" she whined, though the smile on her face failed her.
"I won't stop it. my smurf" he said, making her finally laugh.
She wrapped her arms around his torso, giving him a hug and kiss on his chest, that was the only place she could reach without raising her head.

i have some more thoughts (and requests lmao):
pau victor mvp and deservedly so, i am so glad we got him after the loan (i wanted him back the second he got subbed off for disney)
i am so excited to finally see balde back
definitely wanna see more of julian araujo this season, he was great
can we please keep alcantara for the entire season please???
astralaga did a great job (can we make him our second gk please?)
toni fernández is a baller, maybe needs to develop just a tiny bit more (that pen was colddd)
casado and bernal together were lovely to watch (want to see more of them especially casado this season)
sergi dominguez impressed me a lot as well
i thought valle and martin did good as well
basically i loved watching all the la masia kids (some of them naturally need to develop a bit more but they did great and i already know that they will end up saving our asses this season)

i think gavi is obsessed with tall and older man’s, his favorite lap is probably laporte or lewandowski but he likes mora and araujo’s lap too
he see a older and taller man and “omg can you hug me and put me in your lap forever??🥺”
he likes to feel protected, to feel tiny and relaxed and only a huge man can do it with him
pedri is the only exception of course, he’s not too huge but gavi feels protected and tiny with pedri too

Talking Fight Night Grasso-Araujo. Haven’t really had time to post about it so here that is. I like this card. Bunch of fighters and/or fighters I care about. I know people crapped on the main event but it’s a solid fight.
Alexa Grasso vs Viviane Araujo - I definitely overrated Araujo as an athlete when she got to the UFC. In part cause her competition was the tiny Bernardo, a weathered 125lb Alexis Davis, and Jessica Eye. Respectable enough fighters, but never known for their pure athleticism. As Araujo has fought more and more fighters in their primes (and at 125lbs), she’s been less impressive in that regard. Technically she’s shown variety, but not a ton of diversity. She’s shown willingness to compete in all phases of MMA, but is very one note as a striker. Same set ups repeated over and over. Grasso, though she lacks that extra bit of aggression that makes top women’s contenders, is a well put together striker and grappler. She is varied enough, powerful enough, and technical enough to keep opponents honest. With Araujo likely to just throw herself into exchanges repeatedly, big chance for Grasso to build up a big lead early and just never let Araujo back in it.
Cub Swanson vs Jonathan Martinez (@ 135lbs) - I’ve been talked into liking this one, with caveats, by the heavy hands podcast. I don’t like Swanson at 135. At all. It seems like an unnecessary move in a desperate move to finally get a title fight. BUT if Swanson is going to move to 135, Martinez is the exact type of fighter I’d put him in there with. Defensively liable, not a particular power or speed threat and likely to try and kickbox with Swanson. Swanson has made his money as a gatekeeper turning away guys exactly like Martinez. If Swanson has anything substantial left in the tank at 38 years old after this weight cut, we could be in for at least one last styling from an undervalued veteran.
Askar Askarov vs Brandon Royval - Royval is really trying to be “technical” after that Pantoja fight. I’m not sure if Askarov is the guy to try that against. Guy is a round winner with an underrated boxing game and obvious wrestling chops. If he’s able to get into the body and take Royval down, I could see this being a real painful 15 minutes for him. Gotta take Askarov. Should be a great fight.
Misha Cirkunov vs Alonzo Menifield - can Cirkunov take Menifield down before Menifield finds his jaw? He should be able to, but I don’t trust it at this point. Menifield KO 1st round.
Victor Henry vs Raphael Assuncao - a “glue factory fight”. Like me some Henry, but I don’t need to see Assuncao get beat down.
Tatsuro Taira vs CJ Vergara - I’ve definitely seen Vergara fight and I have no impression of him. Taira on the other hand has looked great whenever I’ve seen him. Had a strong debut and looking forward to seeing him again.

Just a bit tipsy (Gwilym Lee x Reader)
Pairing: Gwilym Lee x Reader
Request: “bafta one shot request for gwil if that’s okay please💞💞 where he comes home a little late from the after party and is a lil tipsy and is all cuddly and soft with you”
Suggested Song: Recantiga by Miguel Araujo (you might not understand squat from this song but it is really good for this one-shot’s mood, trust me)
A/N: My wifi was fucked up for a few days so I was only able to publish this now.
Word Count: 730
Warnings: floofy floof
It was around 4am when you looked at your bedside table clock to check the time; You had woken up with the sound of your front door closing, followed by carefully placed footsteps which in a matter of seconds stopped, signaling that whoever had entered the house had taken off their shoes.
A small cough escaped the person’s mouth giving away that it was who you were expecting - Gwilym.
Silently, or so he thought so, as to not wake you up, he came upstairs straight to you room, where you were laid (supposedly) asleep. You then felt his body lay next to yours causing you to turn around a face a close-eyed Gwilym
“Shouldn’t you at least take this tuxedo off?” You muttered against his cheek right after pressing a soft kiss to it.
“Y/N... I thought you were asleep... Did I wake you?!” He asks, his face pressed against the pillow.
“I wouldn’t be able to actually rest until you came home so, no biggie.” After a few moments of none of you moving from your current positions, you decide to get up from the bed and walk over to his side.
“Come on now, let’s get you out of this clothes and ready for bed.”
You gently grab his forearm and place him in a sitting position, his legs over the side of the bed. Reluctantly he gets up, wrapping his arms around you and burying his nose on your messy bed hair.
“You smell goooooddddd…” He mutters, unnecessarily dragging the last syllable of the sentence.
“Someone’s a little tipsy...” You point out, as you look up at him.
“Just a tiny bit...”
“Yeah yeah, I know. Come on now” You practically drag the man to your shared bathroom, sitting him up on the toilet seat. Calmly, you start to undo his bowtie, before taking off his coat.
“Love, if you wanted to undress me all you had to do was ask..” you simply giggled as a response. It was beyond funny seeing the tipsy side your boyfriend, the man who would often be the most composed out of the two of you, and out of your whole group of friends. This was a side of him that didn’t come out often, but you loved every bit of it.
“Now, which one of the boys should I blame for your drunkenness?!” You keep on undressing him, now moving to his belt, undoing it and placing it on the sing, followed by his pants.
“I mean.... Joe paid for a few shots,.... and Ben for a few more... And maybe Roger gave another few...They were jelly shots Y/N they were all wobblily.”
“Funny, because the only thing wobblily that I see right now is the grown ass man sitting in front of me! So you’re telling me that I need to kick the ass of 2 20-to-30-something’s and 1 senior citizen... that shouldn’t be a problem.”
“You are so protective,...like...super woman, only prettier, and smarter and prettier.” He was now in his underwear and slowly dressing his pajamas, right after standing up with you help.
“You said prettier twice.”
“Because it’s truuuu…” you blushed and smiled to the ground. Gwil was now fully clothed and ready for bed. So you gently placed his arm around you shoulders and guiding him to your bed. Almost reaching the bed, he stumbled on his own feet and face palmed right into the mattress
“Jesus, Gwil, you are so pissed.” You secretly loved it: You loved alcohol caused this fully grown man to need your help to do something as simple as undressing himself.
After you were both laid on the bed, his arms gently pulled you towards him, against his chest.
“I told the boys that I’m marrying you one day.” you felt his chest vibrate with his sleepy words. This comment made you smile against his chest, right before placing a soft kiss against the bottom of his chin, as you were shorter than him.
“Is that so?”
“Yes, indeed.” With that answer you both fell into a comfortable silence, warmed up in each other’s embrace. As you were about to enter a state of deep sleep you heard Gwilym speak up once again.
“I think Ben would be a pretty flower girl, he could even wear his Rogerina costume...”
“Gwilym, babe, I love you but please go to sleep.”

For the week of 28 October 2019
Quick Bits:
Afterlift #1 is a digital original from Chip Zdarsky, Jason Loo, Paris Alleyne, and Aditya Bidikar. Very interesting concept here playing with a character who drives for a Lyft analogue in Cabit, leading to becoming a rather unique courier.
| Published by Jams & Jellies
Batman Annual #4 actually gives us many adventures and stories as we go through almost two months’ of diary entries of Batman’s exploits from Alfred, as told by Tom King, Jorge Fornés, Mike Norton, Dave Stewart, and Clayton Cowles. It’s a nice way to pack a lot of story into this annual in a fairly unique way, while also showcasing just how busy Batman really is.
| Published by DC Comics
Black Panther #17 sets up for the next confrontation with N’Jadaka and his forces, also giving us a rather...awkward but interesting conversation between Storm and Nakia. Gorgeous art from Daniel Acuña.
| Published by Marvel
Bloodshot #2 continues the balls to the wall action as Bloodshot and the Black Bar conflict escalates, from Tim Seeley, Brett Booth, Adelso Corona, Andrew Dalhouse, and Dave Sharpe. It’s a bit of a throwback to a more action-oriented style, but it definitely works for Bloodshot. A nice change of pace to give a variety of storytelling.
| Published by Valiant
Conan the Barbarian #10 spins us the twins’ yarn as they plotted their revenge on Conan, from Jason Aaron, Mahmud Asrar, Matthew Wilson, and Travis Lanham. The art from Asrar and Wilson is gorgeous. The backstory building up to last parts of this story and the fate of Conan is gripping.
| Published by Marvel
Contagion #5 brings an end to this series from Ed Brisson, Adam Gorham, Veronica Gandini, and Cory Petit. Gorgeous and creepy art here from Gorham and Gandini.
| Published by Marvel
DCeased #6 is surprisingly hopefully, even as everything dies and everybody hurts. It appears to be setting up a sequel, though likely to be incredibly bleak. Tom Taylor, Trevor Hairsine, Neil Edwards, Stefano Gaudiano, Rain Beredo, and Saida Temofonte conclude this series in epic fashion as we say goodbye to Earth.
| Published by DC Comics
Death’s Head #4 is another ending to a series this week, from Tini Howard, Kei Zama, Felipe Sobreiro, and Travis Lanham. Some very nice character work here for Death’s Head and Vee.
| Published by Marvel
Doctor Strange Annual #1 gives us a pair of tales. The lead from Tini Howard, Andy MacDonald, Tríona Farrell, and Cory Petit is a fun Halloween story dealing with the spirits haunting the Sanctum Sanctorum. Any art from MacDonald is a treat. The back up is a bit more deadly serious with Pornsak Pichetshote, Lalit Kumar Sharma, Sean Parsons, José Villarrubia, and Petit revealing a failsafe should Strange go rogue.
| Published by Marvel
Ether: The Disappearance of Violet Bell #2 continues to be incredibly inventive as Boone tries to track down the assassin. David Rubín’s art is absolutely amazing. And Boone’s continued inability to really think about anyone other than himself is telling.
| Published by Dark Horse
Excalibur #1 is another tick in the win column for “Dawn of X”. The X-Men dabbling in magic isn’t common, but Tini Howard, Marcus To, Erick Arciniega, and Cory Petit do so with amazing flair, fittingly taking us in through Otherworld, Captain Britain, and Betsy Braddock. Apocalypse’s new incarnation as “ •|A| •” and his newfound interest in magic is fascinating.
| Published by Marvel
Five Years #5 spotlights Zoe’s rather elaborate imagination for coming up with ways to murder people. Granted, the Russian agent may well deserve it, but still... Terry Moore continues to deliver some unexpected twists as the end of the world inches closer.
| Published by Abstract Studio
Giant Days: As Time Goes By #1 is a one-shot finale special from John Allison, Max Sarin, Whitney Cogar, and Jim Campbell. It picks up roughly a year from the end of the series, dealing with why Esther has been missing from their reunions. It’s full of all of the humour that we’ve been used to and hammers home the power of friendship. Also, it gets very, very weird.
| Published by Boom Entertainment / BOOM! Box
Harleen #2 works hard to portray Harley’s seduction by the Joker. Stjepan Šejić and Gabriela Downie portray it as an insidious, manipulative thing. It might appear romantic on the surface, but there’s definitely a darkness there. There are ideas of bringing back a monster from the edge of insanity, but the story makes you realize that some may well be beyond hope.
| Published by DC Comics - Black Label
Hellboy and the BPRD: Long Night at Goloski Station might well be the best of these new format tales yet, and both of the previous ones were incredibly strong. Here Mike Mignola, Matt Smith, Dave Stewart, and Clem Robins deliver a single issue story building on Hellboy’s confrontation with Baba Yaga, Sir Edward Grey, and demons.
| Published by Dark Horse
Invisible Kingdom #6 begins the second arc, “Edge of Everything”, as the crew first try to find food and fuel and then run afoul of a salvage ship. G. Willow Wilson, Christian Ward, and Sal Cipriano keep things interesting as we start to see the crew’s life after Lux.
| Published by Dark Horse / Berger Books
Invisible Woman #4 is disturbing, basically everything goes to hell and everyone that Sue was trusting to see this operation through has let her down. Or worse. Mark Waid, Mattia De Iulis, and Joe Caramagna set up a rather horrifying situation in this penultimate chapter. Again, De Iulis’ artwork is stunning.
| Published by Marvel
Joker: Killer Smile #1 is essentially a psychological horror from Jeff Lemire, Andrea Sorrentino, Jordie Bellaire, and Steve Wands. It comes from the point of view of a psychiatrist, Dr. Ben Arnell, who is trying to get to the heart of Joker’s mental state. It’s not going so well and it appears like the good doctor is losing time, doing strange things, and possibly worse. Very intriguing beginning to this story.
| Published by DC Comics - Black Label
Knights Temporal #4 has some stunning artwork from Fran Galán, particularly during the gangster sequences where colour comes into play as another important storytelling element. There are some very nice twists this issue, making you wonder about a lot of what we thought we knew.
| Published by AfterShock
The Last God #1 is dark fantasy done right by Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Riccardo Federici, Sunny Gho, Dean White, Tom Napolitano, Steve Wands, and Jared Blando. It gives us lying kings, heroes who weren’t rightly heroes, and a Lovecraftian terror returned to show the truth. It plays deep on resentment and distrust, and of a complete failure of institutions to uphold a decent society. All with absolutely stunning artwork from Federici, Gho, and White. This is a beautiful, haunting work.
| Published by DC Comics - Black Label
Last Stop on the Red Line #4 is very, very weird. We get a peek behind the masks of the monsters and it’s even stranger. There’s a very interesting mix of symbolism and the supernatural where we’re really not sure where one begins and the other ends. This was a very unique series from Paul Maybury, Sam Lotfi, and Adam Pruett.
| Published by Dark Horse
Mall #3 goes even harder into inter-faction warfare as it seems like all of the groups are at one another’s throats. Great world-building here from Michael Moreci, Gary Dauberman, Zak Hartong, Addison Duke, and Jim Campbell, with some interesting plot developments.
| Published by Vault
Manor Black #4 concludes the series as we see what essentially amounts to order vs. chaos as the old blood takes on wild magic. This doesn’t feel so much as a conclusion as an end to a chapter of a wider arc, leaving much unresolved. Hopefully we see more. The artwork from Tyler Crook is phenomenal.
| Published by Dark Horse
Marvel Zombies: Resurrection #1 is really damn good. Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Leonard Kirk, Guru-eFX, and Travis Lanham kick off this series with a new angle on the Marvel Zombies, playing up more on the horror angle, with a truly terrifying spread of the disease through a new vector. Gorgeous artwork from Kirk and Guru-eFX.
| Published by Marvel
Monster Planet #1 is the kind of thing that you used to see regularly published by Image and Top Cow, the military action comic that throws in horror elements, from Joe Brusha, Marcelo Mueller, Maxflan Araujo, and Taylor Esposito. It’s not bad, setting up a world where humanity has been turned into dinosaur-like beasts and the remnants of society need to turn to classical monsters for help.
| Published by Zenescope
The Necromancer’s Map #3 takes a bit of a different approach, giving us a fair amount of action as Tristan’s Will catch up with Bethany and co. as well as some great character building in between the action. Great stuff from Andrea Fort, Michael Christopher Horn, Sam Beck, Ellie Wright, and AndWorld Design.
| Published by Vault
The Plot #2 is wonderful horror storytelling from Tim Daniel, Michael Moreci, Joshua Hixson, Jordan Boyd, and Jim Campbell. Very creepy build of supernatural events once Chase Blaine and his family arrive back at his ancestral home. Hixson and Boyd’s presentation of the black, gooey masses are also disturbing.
| Published by Vault
Queen of Bad Dreams #5 concludes this excellent series from Danny Lore, Jordi Pérez, Dearbhla Kelly, and AndWorld Design. Rather interesting confrontation with and revelations about Eleanor Chase here.
| Published by Vault
Red Goblin: Red Death #1 is a one-shot featuring three stories set during Norman Osborn’s tenure as the Red Goblin at the end of Dan Slott’s run on Amazing Spider-Man. It’s kind of weird that it doesn’t instead tie-in with current events in Absolute Carnage, but it’s not bad for what it is. The art of the first two stories from Pete Woods is great.
| Published by Marvel
Relics of Youth #2 is even better than the first issue, delving deeper into the mysterious tattoos that the kids have been branded with and their connection to the island that they’ve landed on within the Bermuda Triangle. Matt Nicholas, Chad Rebmann, Skylar Partridge, Vladimir Popov, and AndWorld Design are telling a very compelling adventure here.
| Published by Vault
Roku #1 begins another mini-series focusing on one of the luminary villains in the Valiant Universe, this one from Cullen Bunn, Ramón F. Bachs, Stéphane Paitreau, and Dave Sharpe. It’s full of action and intrigue as Roku is hired by an unknown client to retrieve...someone. Things get more interesting as a new face stands in her way and we find out the unusual nature of the target.
| Published by Valiant
The Sandman Universe Presents: Hellblazer #1 is a homecoming of sorts for John Constantine, back to his old haunts alongside some of the other Vertigo corner of the DC Universe. Si Spurrier, Marcio Takara, Cris Peter, and Aditya Bidikar spin a yarn that reconstitutes John after a massive magic war led by an evil Tim Hunter. How exactly the pieces fit are anyone’s guess, but it’s a brilliant darker take resetting him here.
| Published by DC Comics - Black Label / The Sandman Universe
Savage Avengers Annual #1, though largely a self-contained story, is still integral to Conan’s adventure through the Marvel universe and the overall narrative as he, Hellstorm, and Black Widow stumble across a human trafficking ring that bears the marks of Kulan Gath. Gerry Duggan, Ron Garney, Matt Milla, and Travis Lanham deliver a compelling story.
| Published by Marvel
SFSX #2 does further world and character building, showing us just how much has changed since the Party took over, and how utterly betrayed many of the people from the Dirty Mind felt of Avory abandoning them. Very interesting stuff from Tina Horn, Michael Dowling, Chris O’Halloran, and Steve Wands.
| Published by Image
Silver Surfer: Black #5 concludes what has been a very trippy series from Donny Cates, Tradd Moore, Dave Stewart, and Clayton Cowles. There are some very interesting revelations of the past here, and it really makes you wonder about the Surfer’s new incarnation.
| Published by Marvel
Star Pig #4 concludes the series, kind of, from Delilah S. Dawson, Francesco Gaston, Sebastian Cheng, and Shawn Lee. There’s some rather disturbing tentacles in this one.
| Published by IDW
Star Wars Adventures: Return to Vader’s Castle #5 brings an end to this round of the series. I think it’s a perfect approach for some all ages “ghost stories” within the Star Wars universe. Wonderful resolution for the framing story from Cavan Scott, Francesco Francavilla, and AndWorld Design.
| Published by IDW
Tales from the Dark Multiverse: The Death of Superman #1 is the second of these one-shots spotlighting DC events gone horribly wrong, this time giving us a much angrier Lois Lane’s grief at the loss of Superman to Doomsday. Jeff Loveness, Brad Walker, Drew Hennessy, Norm Rapmund, John Kalisz, and Clayton Cowles present her as vengeance against a world that didn’t deserve Superman’s grace, raising some of the questions that you’d often see in The Authority. Only, you know, kind of evil. It’s not bad, but definitely dark.
| Published by DC Comics
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #99 is the extra-sized penultimate chapter of “City at War” as all of the pieces begin falling into place for the grand finale. The story here from Kevin Eastman, Bobby Curnow, Tom Waltz, Dave Wachter, Ronda Pattison, and Shawn Lee feels truly epic and that something huge may just happen next issue. As it is, there’s still a ton of action here, some interesting developments with the Rat King, more disappointment when it comes to Raph, and something new with the mutagenic bomb.
| Published by IDW
Test #5 is very strange. Christopher Sebela, Jen Hickman, Harry Saxon, and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou end this story as Aleph and Laurel find one another and a new way is planted, but there’s still seeds of something going awry.
| Published by Vault
Venom #19 largely plays out the end bits for the Maker and Dylan’s portions of Absolute Carnage, with some very interesting revelations. It seems like even bigger seeds are being lain for future stories here. Great art from Iban Coello and Rain Beredo.
| Published by Marvel
Witchblade #16 gives us the fight between Alex and Haley, after a few distractions and discursions. The stakes are pretty high here and there are a few rather tense moments as it plays out. Beautiful art from Roberta Ingranata and Bryan Valenza.
| Published by Image / Top Cow
Wonder Woman Annual #3 is largely a flashback tale, set five years ago as Wonder Woman and ARGUS attempt to extract an agent sent to infiltrate Gorilla City to see the legitimacy of Grodd’s rule. What Steve Orlando, V. Ken Marion, Sandu Florea, Hi-Fi, and Pat Brosseau do with is establish a new backstory and interpretation for a very old Wonder Woman foe in a fairly interesting way that even ties in to Event Leviathan. It may strain a bit of credibility for the villainous turn, but that will largely depend on the follow-up.
| Published by DC Comics
Other Highlights: Archie 1955 #2, A Basketful of Heads #1, Batman and the Outsiders Annual #1, Chrononauts: Futureshock #1-4, Dead Man Logan #12, Fantastic Four: Grand Design #1, Fight Club 3 #10, Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #13, Ironheart #11, James Bond 007 #12, Jim Henson’s The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance #2, Journey to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker - Alliance #4, Jughead’s Time Police #5, Kick-Ass #18, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #44, Rick & Morty #55, The Ride: Burning Desire #5, Runaways #26, Star Trek: Year Five #7, Star Wars: Doctor Aphra Annual #3, Star Wars Adventures #27, Superior Spider-Man #2, Tremor Dose, Warlord of Mars Attacks #5

Sleep Is For The Weak - Chapter 3
Previous Chapters: Prologue, Chapter 1, Last Chapter
Notes (I guess): This chapter was a nightmare to write but I’m just so happy I finished it. It also touches some subjects that will come up again in the future, for the sake of letting everyone process the events. I’ve experienced grief and it’s going to take a long time before this particular subject could be discussed again. See yourselves warned.
Again, credit to @broadwaytheanimatedseries for screaming at me to write this, and to @whatwashernameagain for Keep Him Safe, and also a tiny tiny lil bit to @anony-phangirl and @asleepybisexual for their general support and for being such great sports about me annoying them with my ideas… (oops).
(I’m trying to find a way to write my notes, so bear with me until I find a way that will stick. This will do for now.)
(KHS) Tag List (sort of): @em-be-lievable, @ultimate-queen-of-fandoms2, @adoratato, @supremestoverlord, @royallyanxious, @madly-handsome, @hanramz-the-fander, @the-incedible-sulk, @poisonedapples, @virge-of-a-breakdown, @winglessnymph, @princeanxious, @smokeyrutilequartz, @im-bad-at-life (if any of you could tag the rest, please do! I’m improving my memory from day to day, but… yeah…)
Tag list: @bunny222, @ab-artist, @secretlyanxiouspersona, @your-username-is-unavailable, @virgilcrofters
Trigger warning: period appropriate transphobia (the early 00s were not exactly trans-friendly). This chapter also includes discussion of two rather tragic (in my opinion) real-life events, and very few mentions of food.
—————
"Today, we're going to do things a bit differently."
Saturday, October 12th, 2002
"Raise your hand if the idea of coming out, even if you're already out, terrifies the living hell out of you."
Almost all hands flew up.
"Raise your hand if you understand the dangers of staying closeted too."
Pretty much everyone took their hands down. Only very few stayed.
"Last week," India said after a long breath, "we lost… the community lost one of our own. We… we lost someone to hate crime." She lowered her hand. Remy was almost in pain, seeing her try to talk about it. She called him last night, asking him if it's not going to be too much for him (and if so, she has another thing planned). "Gwen Araujo was seventeen when she died because she was outed as transgender in a party."
"Wasn't this released, like, two days ago?"
"Yes, and that's why I want to talk to you about this. Just… excuse me. I wrote it all down… it’s kind of a tough subject..."
It took India a minute to settle her voice, and another couple seconds to fumble with some papers. "I'll bet you all remember where you were when the World Trade Center fell in September eleventh last year." The room fell into silence. "I'll also bet none of you remember where you were on new year's eve in 1993."
Remy knew exactly where this was going.
"It could be because you were nine years old, which is the case for some of us, or you were already in bed by ten. I know my parents insisted that I'd go to bed by ten that night for a couple reasons. But on December thirty-first, 1993, we lost another member of the community. His story was turned into an Oscar-winning movie, but l can assure you none of you remember where you were when Brandon Teena was murdered for being born a girl."
The chatter was back. Remy could isolate some of the comments. Not most, just some. And it hurt. The ones he managed to isolate were not good, but one was much louder than the other.
"Can you really compare the murder of thousands to the death of just one person?"
"No I can't. But what you fail to realize here is that I'm not comparing anything here. I'm just trying to bring up a subject—"
"And you're using the tragedy of others to—"
"I lost family in September eleventh. I'm well aware of the tragedy. I'm also aware of the fact that transgender people are killed at ridiculous rates and this is something we should discuss!"
The silence after that was incredibly unbearable. India was close to tears, and Remy… as much as he wanted to go hug her, he couldn't.
It was that painful.
"Today's topic was supposed to be discrimination and hate," Remy heard someone shouting into the air - one of the juniors probably. "We do this conversation every year. Please listen to what the poor girl has to say. She's only volunteering to do this, on top of—"
"That's okay, Chris. I don't need an advocate."
It was going to be a long meeting, and Remy was not looking forward to it.
—
"I'm sorry I didn't speak today."
"You did alright. Sometimes doing nothing is a good thing."
India was incredibly frustrated when they finally got to Kirkland House. Remy insisted on going with her, to make sure that nothing else happened. She called him a gentleman for doing that.
It was sweet of her.
She ranted a bit about a guy who lived on the same floor as her (Jared Kushner or something) who was a dick to her and tried flirting with her girlfriend all the time, she told him that she applied to get a master's degree in forensics at Georgetown after graduation, and then they reached Kirkland House.
"You can get back to Harvard Yard from here, right?"
"Of course. Who do you think I am?"
India kissed his cheek and waved goodbye, and went into Kirkland House. And then Remy was alone. Well, not entirely, he still had to go back to Weld Hall and call his dad, but…
He was alone.
The yard wasn't as crowded as it was earlier and the weather was cooling down considerably, the leaves were changing… Harvard Yard was a beautiful place in the fall, Remy learned quickly enough.
He had very little time to process his thoughts when he was almost tackled to the ground by a tiny blonde kid almost running in the direction of the exit. Aka, the main road.
"How is it that when we're outside of class we keep running into each other in the weirdest ways?"
"That's less weird than how my grandparents met," Emile said, breathless.
"Not what I said, babe."
"No, really! My grandpa was coming back to Amsterdam from London just as my grandma was on her way to London straight out of Auschwitz, and—"
"Can we keep this story for another time?"
"...sure." Emile gave Remy a half-smile. "So… I kinda have to go to Party City. I need to stock up for Halloween."
"Didn't you go there two weeks ago?"
"Yes, but they didn't have this one thing I really needed, and I kinda forgot a couple other things, so they told me they'd call when they got that thing they didn't have, so I'm going to pick it up!" He was… incredibly jumpy today. It was rather endearing. "You wanna come? We can go get pizza."
"What thing are you missing, exactly?"
"A wig! I'm gonna be Kim Possible."
He was so excited… Remy started feeling bad for being this confused.
"...what?"
"Kim Possible! Don't you— you know what, it's okay if you don't know. It only came out in June anyway." The half-smile turned into a full, bright one. He was adorable. "So, you wanna come with me?"
...well, he had nothing better to do for now.
"Sure, sunshine. But I need to get my wallet and phone first."
"Yay! Anyway, so Kim Possible is this show, it's on the Disney Channel but trust me it's not that bad… "
—
Emile was growing on Remy more and more each day. And… he may have started getting interested in Kim Possible after going out for pizza with him. The never ending energy was growing on him in a way. It was impossible not to like his enthusiasm, and…
Yeah, he was starting to grow on Remy.
"So, now, lucky that I'm vegetarian, right?" Emile said as he took his third slice of pizza. "So at least I have some sort of excuse, at least according to my aunt, but we just keep having to explain to them what kosher means and—"
"Are we still talking about your sister, Emile?"
"What?"
"We were talking about your sister and then you started talking about… well…"
"Oh! Yeah, sorry!"
"Please stop apologizing. You're not doing anything wrong."
"Right. Umm… so… Doctor Gilliam suggested I might want to get evaluated at the psych clinic sometime soon," Emile mumbled, straightening his glasses. Slightly more closed off. Making Remy feel real guilty. "I don't… I don't know why, but he said I might want to."
"And you're just gonna take him up on that?"
"Yeah? No? I don't know. I'm only sixteen, honestly, I'm gonna have to talk to my parents about this."
Sixteen?!
"Yeah, I thought I told you!"
...shit. He spoke out loud. Shit.
"I'll be seventeen in December. But… never mind. Do you think I should listen to him? About the evaluation?"
"I have, like… no idea."
The way back to Cambridge was full of even more chatter about everything and nothing, and Remy couldn't put in a word. Not that it mattered anyway. Emile was interesting.
Remy gave his input whenever he could, but he would much rather listen to Emile talk. He had an adorable voice
—
"You didn't call me last week, kiddo. Found yourself a guy?"
"Dad, please…"
"Do you think you're going to take her up on that offer?"
"Dad, daddy, papa, David, any normal person when answering the phone would ask how are you doing. Not if you hooked up with a guy or if you're going to babysit your sisters who you've never met just because your bitch of a woman who birthed you asked you to."
"When have we ever done anything normal, Remy?"
"Well… true. But no, I'm not going to take her up on that offer. I don't really care, to be honest."
"They're your sisters."
"And so is India but you don't see me trying to—"
"You haven't told me much about her, kid."
"Well… she's not doing okay lately. Did you see the news? About that girl in California?"
"Edward Araujo?"
"Gwen."
"Right. Sorry. It's just… the news."
"It's okay. But… India is losing it over this case. And honestly… I get her. It's terrifying to see someone of your kin just…"
"You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to. But really, did you hook up with anyone?"
"Nah. Dad, I'm eighteen. I'm not you."
"Hey, your mom got pregnant with you because of this one time when we were seniors when she had an empty house this one week in December and threw away my condoms when I tried to—"
"Dad, that's disgusting and please don't bring this up ever again."
"Got it. But anyway?"
"...there's a guy in my major, his name is Emile—"
"You gonna ask him out?"
"Dad, no! He's sixteen."
"And he's a psychology major?!"
"I asked myself the same question. But yes. He is."
"Well, I mean… he's within the appropriate age range for you. I guess."
"...what is it about I don't want a relationship at this stage of my life didn't you hear?"
"You're eighteen, Remy! One day you're gonna find someone and—"
"That's the thing. I'm eighteen. I have many more years ahead of me."
"Okay. Whatever you say. Any other boys I should know about? Girls, too, if you're into them now?"
"Just… this one guy. His name is Chris, he's a bit older… I don't know. Should I really be talking to you about this? You're my dad!"
"Am I not allowed to be interested in my son's love life anymore?"
"You weren't this interested in it when I was in high school."
A long sigh. "Remy…"
"I know you're worried, Dad. Believe me, I do. But I'm doing just fine! Rashida has dance parties every Wednesday for some reason so we bond over that, Lucy is basically just my map to going everywhere, we haven't hung out that much, Sammy is being a cutie all the time and Katherine is obsessed with everything. She really likes Emile's bunny for some reason and keeps talking about how her niece and nephew would absolutely love it. Her niece is two years old! I just…"
"Sounds to me like you're making friends."
"Well… yesterday I went with Emile to Party City. I don't know what I'm doing for Halloween this year, but…"
"What was that you just said?"
"If all goes right, I'll be Jack Skellington. But I don't have a backup."
"What would you need a backup for? You'll do great!"
"So, how's your girlfriend?"
"Eh, I don't know. Elaine isn't… that… you know."
"I'm sure she's absolutely lovely."
"Yeah, so was I. Can't wait for you to meet her."
"Can't wait either."
"...are you sure you don't want to babysit Linda's girls?"
"Dad!"
"Just asking!"

Marching through the streets of East Timor’s capital Dili with a rainbow flag in his hand, Natalino Guterres was overwhelmed with emotion, reminding him of how he felt 15 years ago when he saw the Timorese flag raised for the first time.
“It was an emotional moment,” he said of the pride parade. “The sense of euphoria ... I saw happiness written on people’s faces and some teared up. It reminds me of Independence Day in 2002.”
Guterres was among about 500 people taking part in East Timor’s first pride parade. The atmosphere was carnivallike, with participants waving rainbow flags, cheering and beating drums in the capital.
Campaigners say the parade last month was a milestone for the tiny, half-island nation, Asia’s youngest democracy, and a beacon of hope for a region where lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights are under increasing attack.
LGBT rights in the nation of 1.2 million people have not been a major focus. However activists say social stigma and discrimination are common for LGBT people.
Same-sex behavior is not criminalized under East Timor’s laws but they also do not offer protection against discrimination.
Kicked out of home, bullied at school
Guterres, a development consultant who runs a youth group that organized the parade, said many like him grew up feeling lonely and do not know where to turn when they suffer discrimination.
“If you talk to the (LGBT) community, people have been kicked out of home or feel uncomfortable about going to school because they are bullied. They live from house to house because they are not accepted at home.
“That is why visibility of the LGBT community is important.
“We want to empower people who are still struggling,” the 27-year-old told the Thomson Reuters Foundation by phone from Dili.
Prime Minister Rui Maria de Araujo gave a boost to LGBT rights supporters when he recorded a video message ahead of the march urging Timorese to create an inclusive nation and accept people with different sexual orientations and gender identities.
The call was a “welcome glint of leadership amidst officials elsewhere in the region who openly stoke anti-LGBT bigotry,” said Kyle Knight, a LGBT rights researcher with New York-based Human Rights Watch.
Although Taiwan’s top court ruled in favor of same-sex marriage in May, paving the way for the island to become the first place in Asia to legalize gay unions, progress of LGBT rights elsewhere in the region has been slow.
In neighboring Indonesia, the LGBT community has faced a series of attacks since last year with senior officials saying there is “no room” for gay rights movement, while authorities detained 141 men in a gay club raid in May.
In the same month, two young Indonesian men were publicly flogged for gay sex in the ultra-conservative Aceh province, which has Islamic laws.
In Malaysia, health authorities prompted a public uproar last month over a video contest on how to “prevent” homosexuality, and were forced to amend the competition.
But Knight said East Timor could still offer more to the LGBT community by enacting laws to outlaw discrimination based on sexual identity.
“Timor Leste’s current legal environment presents a mix of silence, protection and gaps for LGBT people,” Knight said, using another name for the Southeast Asian country.
Long way to equality
The parade, which was supported by international groups including U.N. agencies and diplomats, has nevertheless raised hopes among the LGBT community in East Timor, and provided an impetus for the public to debate the topic.
“LGBT issues have been swept under the carpet all this while, now it is time to talk about them,” said Felix Maia, the spokesman of U.N. Women in East Timor, who was at the parade.
“It creates polarizing opinion but we can only start raising awareness when people start talking about it,” he told the Thomson Reuters Foundation.
Guterres said there is a long way to go to achieve equality but he was optimistic, because he has seen how his family’s attitude has changed over the years.
His brother, who stopped talking to him for two years after Guterres came out to him as gay, showed up at the pride parade clad in a T-shirt emblazoned with the slogan “You are not alone” and appeared on stage with him.
“He hugged me on stage and told me he was very proud of me,” he said. “We were both in tears.”

What’s Out This Week? 4/10
WrestleMania was SO GOOD this year! Did you watch?
War Of The Realms: Journey Into Mystery #1 (of 5) - The McElroys & Andre Araujo
Earth is at war, besieged by an army of Frost Giants, Trolls and Fire Goblins - and the mighty Thor is nowhere to be found! But could it be that the key to turning the tide is...Thor's baby sister? Journey into Mystery with Spider-Man (Miles Morales), Hawkeye (Kate Bishop), Wonder Man, and Balder the Brave as they go on an epic quest to save Earth's only hope! (And, yes, deal with diaper duty.)
Faithless #1 (of 5) - Brian Azzarello and Maria Llovet
Faith likes to dabble with magic. Her friends think it's cute-and not just a little off-putting, but it's part of her charm and her warped search for purpose in a world that makes too much sense. But she's a true believer and knows there is a power within her reach. She's right, of course. It just took a while for that magic, that temptation, that unknowable thing to find her . . .In short- Faith is bored as hell. And Hell has noticed.
FairLady #1 - Brian Schirmer and Claudia Balboni
Every fantasy epic ends with a war. But what happens when the war is over? After posing as a man to join the army, Jenner Faulds returns home to The Feld for a new start as a "Fairman"-a specially licensed private investigator. But sexism didn't end on the battlefield, and as the only "Fairlady," Jenner gets stuck with the cases nobody else wants. Hitting the streets to solve The Feld's overlooked mysteries, Jenner finds that the smallest cases hide the biggest secrets.
Orphan Age #1 - Ted Anderson and Nuno Plati
One day all the adults died, all over the world, at the same time. Now it's twenty years later, and the children - all grown up - are still rebuilding the world. Horses and caravans are the only thin lines connecting tiny, scattered settlements - little sparks in the great dark night. Gasoline is gone, phones long-dead, television a memory. The only power in America is the New Church, the religion of the angry children, that blames the destruction of the old world on the dead adults. In the settlement of Dallastown, a stranger comes riding in one day, telling a story of escape from the New Church's unstoppable Firemen. The Church is on the march, and the world might burn again - and the only hope might be a scared teenage girl, a gunslinger keeping his se-crets, and a woman of few words and long knives. Welcome to the Orphan Age.
Whatcha snagging this week, Fantomites?
