SPOILERS UP TO TMA SEASON 3 AHEAD

Imagine BEING timothy stoker. After whats probaboy the secondmost traumatizing experience of your life in which you almost die if not by the worms then by the MEDICAL EMERGENCY (respiratory acidosis is a medical emergency :3) your body was put into- plagued with nightmares and the pain of your body being covered in holes and your medical issues, you come back to the archives expecting to see your best friend, That will make it all better. It’ll be so worth it once you can see her again.

And then she acts so distant. And you dont know why.

And you have just lost your friendship. The one that’s kept you going this whole time. The one you were starting to believe might have been unbreakable. And you Don’t. Know. Why.

Eventually after many failed attempts to reconnect, you resign yourself to the fact that she just got tired of you. That you were right this whole time. That she just pitied you. You still don’t know what you did wrong and it’s eating you alive, but she won’t tell you, so you have to settle with pretending to be glad that she’s at least alive, All while your boss is literally going insane and STALKING YOU???

Only to find out after a YEAR of believing you were just unlovable that this person? The person youve been trying to ‘reconnect’ with? That isnt your best friend, Your best friend dies and you never noticed. How could you not notice? But when you see the real picture of her she feels like a stranger and you realize you have no fucking escape from your horrible, unforgivable sin of forgetting your friend. Because no matter what you do, trying to look back at your memories, that *thing* is there instead. You can’t even enjoy your memories before she died.

So you sit there, alone and afraid. Angry, grieving, everything else. What are you supposed to do but make the thing that has haunted you since the disappearance of your Brother feel the kind of pain it is making you feel?

Tim isn’t toxic. Hell I wouldn’t even say he’s that much of an asshole.

He’s a hurt child.

Mentally, especially in season three, he’s having the equivalent of a child’s breakdown. The kind they have when they don’t know how to express the emotions they’re feeling. These emotions- this grief, this anger, this pain- it’s so big, it’s so much, and he feels so small, so incapable and weak, and he cannot properly handle it. He cannot cope. Especially since he’s still somewhat trapped in who he was when his brother was taken.

Now im not saying the way he went about this is at all great, but yknow. Everyone forgives reactions to trauma until they’re personally inconvenient or ugly.

Tim lost everything, and honestly i would be pretty damn similar if I was in his position! That’s DEVASTATING.

In the end, there’s such a horrible tragedy to his entire character that goes almost entirely unnoticed unless you’re like me and you’re insane and overanalyze someone based on one word in an extra audio thats not in the podcast.

Anyways, that’s why I love Tim.

would like to preface this by saying the poll results are very subject to null and there is Every likelihood that i'll wake up at midnight in cold sweat and completely switch sides but. well.

So. For those unaware: In hadestown, hermes is the narrator, often breaking the fourth wall while also interacting with characters within the canon. In the original cast album he is played as more serious. There is an edge to him, like a seedy man you buy drinks for at a bar and then get a lore dump (He's also still very fun. He ribs at Hades constantly and sings and dances with Persephone). In the broadway he's a bit more whimsical in voice but performs the same roles throughout the musical. In this one, there's the added layer that he took Orpheus under his wing, while deny caring for the boy. At the end of the musical, he calls Orpheus a friend. So! His character is pretty flexible, but he's generally seen as a helping hand and sounds very remorseful every time the story ends in tragedy. (Because he is the narrator, it starts all over again)

So! notes.

Gertrude as Hermes:

Pros: Generally less sadistic and easier to see as a mentor figure. Has a connection to the Eye and was the former archivist, so it would make sense to have her be the narrator. Has at least interacted with Sasha once, and had also thought that Sasha would have been her successor, so there is a connection somewhere. Also. Gertrude in the silver suit.

Cons: She has no connections to Tim (who plays Orpheus in this)

Elias/Jonah as Hermes:

Pros: Unsure if this is a pro or con, but this would be a sort of play on hermes being a helping hand if he's more manipulative in this one? Less Hermes helping Orpheus by telling him the way down and more Hermes tricking Orpheus into going down into Hadestown. He is also under the Eye, so a narrator role would also work for him. Has a stronger connection to Tim and Sasha (though he's not really shown much interest in them in canon)

Con: Same with aforementioned, he would be different from how Hermes is normally portrayed. Gertrude would be a Hermes who wants the story to end well. Elias would be a Hermes who wants it to end in tragedy. Also no mentor figure.

SEASON 3-4-5 SPOILERS BELOW i mean it

erm anyway welcome to my au where timsasha survive season 3 somehow ive been thinking about it (im 100% sure people have done this before this is just me thinking about it) just some tidbits about it before i sleep:

tim survives the explosion but endures horrible burn scarring all over his body and has to have a leg amputated due to the extent of his injuries

daisy still goes huntpilled coffinmaxxing

the biggest thing i think about with this is that not!sasha was trapped in the tunnels by leitner until 158, but in this scenario ummmm. i dont know really? my working idea is that not!sasha is destroyed but the kind of entity that is not!them is still in the tunnels and sasha as her own person is exhumed from the destruction of her doppelganger and returned to the archives and this way the not!them can still attack everyone in 158

it also lends to a bit more emotional weight if sasha is in the archives when peter unleashes not!them and while distracted with the others she can have a bit of a cathartic whomp on the not!them for ruining her life and the lives of the people she cares about but really im spitballing here

both tim and sasha are helpless to martin's descent into the lonely because tim is in recovery for a while, sasha is in a coma for a week or so (LIKE A NORMAL PERSON) post restoration and is in the hospital for a little longer than that and is mostly occupied with helping tim in his physical recovery and while doing that sasha can't reach martin at work other than a curt few sentences and when tim is back with her neither can he (they both don't know about martin's mothers passing as well)

timsasha rekindle their romance because i want it to happen

tim and sasha i feel would try to reach out to basira and melanie and georgie but i just know that would go nowhere and it becomes frustrating for everyone involved

when jon returns i think they'd try to unionise with him to get answers out of martin but that would not work and it just splinters the archives further

unfortunately i dont think anything they could/would do changes anything as s4 ends and the Change starts

tim is trapped in the not!them's domain and taunted with the trauma of his past and is slowly losing himself and his self-identity, sasha is originally trapped there too, but in a kind of jonmartin-esque uno reverse situation she manages to regain herself in the not!them's domain and can wrangle tim from his stupor and she tries to kill and fight not!them by herself but when jmart roll up there jon eviscerates not!them as planned and the core archives gang are reunited because i like having fun here

they do split up as jmart go on their little apocalyptic couples councelling sessions and travel toward london but they probably don't bump into basira

they might meet up with the what the girlfreinds cult and just check in with them but for the most part i think they're just trying to Survive

they do join everyone at the end and do survive

thats it really if you hate anything i just said im just a guy and my braincells are doing all sorts of gymnastics to make sure my ship stays winning so i mean whatever i love them im still workshopping this as i brainrot about it im writing this at 3am so just stay with me here really

i think every canon ship in both tma and tmagp needed more buildup (with the exception of samalice and daisira because daisira was really well done and also not canon in the relationship sense, and samalice is ongoing). that’s not to say they’re bad, but when characters were revealed to be together it often felt like it came out of nowhere. like wtgfs, they’re sweet and their relationship is developed in season 5, but before the reveal that they were dating there weren’t even hints towards it. nothing happened between them besides an occasional mention of each other, to a degree that would’ve been normal between friends. and with timsasha, literally every interaction we got and every time tim talked about sasha it read as platonic to me. clearly a very close relationship, but there was nothing to suggest they had a romantic history until the reveal that they had been a thing once. with jmart, it’s a bit more complicated. martin’s crush was pretty clear from the start, but i still don’t understand when jon began to reciprocate. there wasn’t a buildup where jon and martin started to interact more, or jon started treating martin as more important to him. his dislike of martin was a combination of projecting insecurities and worries about the new job onto an easy scapegoat, and some valid irritation towards martin for seeming to have every qualification needed on paper but then not having any idea how to do his job. those reasons became obsolete when things got a lot more life and death, everyone’s priorities shifted, and he learned why martin was unqualified. that makes sense. but for a romantic relationship between them to begin, i think there should’ve been scenes where jon started to warm up to martin more and consider him more of a friend, and that just didn’t happen. they were rivals to coworkers s1-s3, then desperate pining s4, and i don’t understand when the transition happened. it would have made a lot more sense if their relationship had gone more the way peter described it, where they were mainly pining for the ideas they had of each other and basically fumbling around for motivation and something to stay alive for, but they didn’t. and samcelia, idk if i even need to explain this one. their date felt like a blind date between strangers, and while those can work out, it’s not a very compelling start for a fictional relationship i’m supposed to be convinced to root for and be invested in.

There is surprisingly no ABO discourse in the TMA fandom. I don't know if it's an unspoken rule for there not to be, but I was thinking about it.

What would Jon be?

When you think of Jon suffering wet cat Sims the immediate assumption is that he'd be Omega or something, but thinking of his Season 5 persona I entertained the idea of him being an Alpha. Jon could be an Alpha right? He's not the most dominating person in the room but he can get very protective (and Jon with power is very sexy). Then I thought of the fundamental elements of an Alpha which are protectiveness and high level of possessiveness........which is when it hit me.

Martin Blackwood is totally an Alpha. 💀🤣 (Another win for Martin). I don't think there's anyone more possessive in the show besides Elias and Elias is a whole different brand of crazy. Martin seems like a sweet, harmless guy until you start stepping on his toes and he smacks the living daylights out of the aggressor with pure unrefined loathing - Just not easily noticeable cause he doesn't get violent but he makes sure his enemies get fucked up.

So Martin is definitely an Alpha. He gives the vibes of ensuring his mate will never lack, making sure they feel safe when they're nesting and never letting any harm come near their territory. Which raises the question....is Jon his omega then? I think not. Jon seems more like a Beta to me.

Jon: A Beta? That's the most ordinary creature in the whole verse.

Well, Mr. Sims you ARE basic. 😂 You're just a basic guy with super powers. I can't for the life of me picture Jon nurturing anything. He's not even very good at looking after himself and nearly everything he tries to protect crumbles away. He's a very tragic character, with not a lot of self esteem and he masks this by being sassy and sarcastic cause he doesn't want people to see how fragile he actually is. Jon's Beta to me and it feels fitting for him and Martin. Jon would probably try masking as an Alpha and Martin an Omega but the truth about each other would come out and Martin wouldn't care less. He loves his tiny hopeless Beta.

That being said, most of the others in TMA strike me as Alpha Alpha.

LonelyEyes aka Peter and Elias - Alpha/Alpha with Peter being possessive of his alone time and Elias being possessive over his control of Peter. (It would be funny if Peter was Omega though cause everyone would assume Elias the Omega.).

Daisira aka Daisy and Basira - Alpha/Alpha. Look Daisy's Alpha, there's no two ways about that. Maybe Basira is Beta but she strikes me as Alpha as well and they work well as partners.

Melanie x Georgie (can't remember their ship name) - Alpha/Omega....maybe Georgie is really flowery and soothing so she could easily be an Omega with her nurture of the Admiral. She could also be a very kind Alpha to her violent chaotic Omega Melanie. It could go either way.

TimSasha - Alpha/Alpha and I love them so much. ♥️❤️ Sasha just strikes me as Alpha. She would have been archivist if not for Elias' plans and Tim is either an Alpha or a chaotic Omega in disguise.

GerryMichael aka DoorKeay - I've only recently heard about this ship but it's kind of cute. Omega/Omega....cause I think it'd be funny. Obviously the Distortion isn't an Omega, the Distortion wasn't anything but I imagine after getting redefined as Michael it wakes an Omega and it is not happy about it. Gerry is not an obvious Omega and everyone assumes he's Alpha. Little did they know. I like the awkward story of two fakers (because the Distortion would definitely try to hide it's identity) slowly realising and still loving each other cause why not. They're also likely faking to be Beta cause one thing they wanted most in the world was to be ordinary.

Agnes x Jack - Alpha/Beta and this one doesn't even need an explanation.

Agnes x Gertrude - Alpha/Alpha, would be a fun dynamic watching these two growl at each other from the same side of the spectrum.

LonelyEyeSkies aka PeterxEliasxSimon - Alpha/Alpha/Alpha chaos. Lovers of this ship just enjoy watching things crash to the ground and I can't blame them cause I love it too. (Would still be funny if Peter was an Omega. Though Peter wouldn't find it funny at all).

JonMichael - Beta/Omega, but to no one's surprise, Michael's the one dictating everything about this relationship. Jon is shocked to find himself building a nest cause that's how dominant Michael's gonna be.

JonTim - Beta/Alpha and I'm guessing Tim would be a passive aggressive Alpha. This will either go really well or it will be a toxic dumpster fire.

(SPOILERS) SASHA JAMES AND TIM STOKER SURVIVE AU

TMA SPOILERS !!! . . .

Imagine if the Not Them creature never actually killed any of it's victims, and they simply became part of the Stranger instead.

This could mean that Sasha (and Graham too, actually) would have been potantially able to survive the attack. Hypothetically, if the Not Them had managed to be killed/destroyed/defeated earlier than in Season 5, then its victims could have been released. Or perhaps they would have been released when the Stranger's ritual led by Nikola was disrupted by the Institue gang?

But going with the idea that Sasha never actually died, and the Not Them was destroyed/defeated far easlier than Season 5, Sasha could escape and recover. She would obviously have been heavily Touched by the Stranger, so its debatable on how much of Sasha would actually be left. Would the Not Them have stolen her identity and memories all together and she was left to be some sort of Jane Doe? Or does she have her memories and know who she is, but simply has a gap in her memory from when she was captured? Or is it some weird combonation of the two?

If Sasha was there during the Stranger's ritual, would she have changed the outcome? Would she have been able to take on Nikola and easily navigate through their strangely distorted circus of horrors? Would Tim still be alive?

On the subject of Tim Stoker, what if he had survived the explosion after the ritual? After all of that discruction and fire, he obviously would be Touched by the Desolation (or at least, I think so). @ian0key has a phonominal and well-thought out TimSasha lives AU with gorgously intruiging art and designs. PLEASE GO CHECK IT OUT!!! (I took some inspiration from your AU I hope you don't mind I just love it and these characters sm ghfjskg)

LOVELY ok so here's hte sitch. i wrote i think 3 chapters of this on ao3. right after finding out that sasha was replaced from the not them, tim finds a leitner that pulls him back in time to the day it happened. yk the whole thing with the worms and jane prentiss and the not them? yeah that day. literally the WORST day to have to relive again and again as a time loop

also because this is season 2 ish tim, he still thinks jon murdered jurgen leitner and doesnt trust him enough to tell him anything. anyway classic time loop shenanigans tim knows something's going to happen to sasha so he goes into the tunnels and this time gets to actually watch her get overtaken by the not them. that's about all i wrote but the idea was that tim has to scramble to find a way to save sasha one way or another and isnt freed until he can find a way to do it

maybe in one loop he finds a way to get to leitner before jon or elias do only to find out that leitner doesnt know what's going on any more than he does. or he gets there just in time for brutal pipe murder and finds out who elias actually is. or he tries to face jane head on so they dont have to go to the tunnels and gets eaten by worms. i think eventually i was going to have tim leave the archives entirely during loops and seek out advice from some of the more reasonable avatars like oliver and find out that the weakness of the not!them was fire (they were originally described as being really slick and oily)

so the endgame i was planning was that in his desperation to keep sasha safe and escape the loop tim fully gave himself to the desolation. i felt like this lined up decently well with his personality and the desolation always aligned itself with earnest devotion to the point of self sacrifice, giving up a piece of yourself for someone else. so you end up with a bittersweet ending where tim after all this time is able to save sasha but it comes at the cost of his humanity and he has to become what he hated. it's a kind of sacrifice that sasha will never be able to truly understand and she can't really fathom him willingly choosing to become an avatar so it would have ended with tim leaving the archives permanently

Hi! I haven't seen Hadestown but from what I read of Hermes... Wouldn't Annabelle or Helen Disotrtion have fun with that? Well they are more about tricks than they are about tests but there's seeing the tragedy unfold as it was always meant to and "guiding" someone lost in corridors... Idk.

(Also having Martin be Persephone kinda makes Peter the most logical Demeter. Seasonal depression explained.)

In this au, it's tim and sasha! that's why I went for Jon and Martin as Hades and Persephone, because they have a closest connection timsasha, and vice versa

And I've thought about annabelle or the distortion for Hermes but my problem is connection again. In the musical hermes acts as a sort of mentor figure for orpheus, taking him under his wing and guiding him down hadestown. While it doesn't have to be a mentor figure, i still want to keep a connection between tim and the hermes stand in. I was also thinking gertrude (who knew sasha and had expected her to be archivist, was an archivist and would fit a narrator role) or gerry (served under the eye, also has ties to statements and stuff) as Hermes. The problem is they have never really interacted in canon, though it's a degree of separation closer than, say, annabelle haha.

Melanie is another interesting one because she does know Tim, and is one of the few to remember old Sasha. Plus she's a youtuber she knows how to narrate lmao. Though she doesn't feel as right to the role as gertrude
