I nearly forgot that I had recorded what was SUPPOSED to go here (posted this at like 1am please forgive me tumblr gods) so I will now clean that up for your perusal! For reference, this is both the “they just found her” and the “oh she’s awake now” scene, mostly through dialogue, with a little barrier text to help understand the scene better. It’s also hella casual and has NO sense of first/second/third person. I wrote these in discord dms between me and my friend at like 5 in the morning LMAO

There’s a bit of a joke amongst the students of Garreg Mach that Professor Lucrezia ‘glows’ and people often just chalk it up to it being a trick of the light. That is until five years after the incident at the academy that made then lose her that they realize it was NOT in fact a joke. She does in fact glow (like a claimable item in Zelda, i imagine she even does the Da-Da-Dada!!!! Sound when Dimitri picks her up LMAO).

The people who find this out PERSONALLy are the three people who went out searching for her (and found her) one day, that being Mercedes, Sylvain, and Dimitri. Sylvain was complaining (loudly), “If only the Professor *actually* glowed in the dark, this would make looking for her so much *easier!”*

(Insert Lucy floating face down in the river and ACTIVELY glowing like a heart vessel)

Mercedes, Sylvain, and Dimitri, all looking at each other then looking at Lucy’s body, then looking back to each other; “Sylvie you spoke too soon.” “I DIDNT KNOW SHE WOULD ACTUALLY BE GLOWING?!?!?!?” “Enough, we need to pull her from the river.”

A BEEEEG drawing this time! The brainrot about Dimitri and Fire Emblem in general has reached a peak and i fear I have reached a new level of mental illness.

For context behind this drawing, the girl in Dimitris arms is NOT Byleth, but instead my OC Lucrezia (Lucy for short). In my AU of her as a Byleth-insert it is cannon that Dimitri finds Lucy floating down the river that in-game Byleth washes up from. And furthermore, the outfit Lucy is depicted in here is not her usual outfit (which i recently designed and you WILL be seeing soon). The outfit she’s wearing here is her Resplendent outfit (FEH fandom how we feeling?) which will ALSO be getting a post soon.

But back to the topic of the piece, the moment depicted here is a pivotal moment for both Dimitri and Lucy going forward. As in this AU, he went on the search for Lucy as a last ditch effort to convince himself she was dead. As the five-year missing saga still happens (can’t miss out on all that delicious angst!) and he can’t fully grieve over her loss. This was supposed to be a moment of Dimitri letting go of his memories of the academy and embracing a life without her, but luckily for him, it doesn’t work out that way.

The glowing thing is actually intentional, as in my mind Sothis’ blessing is trying to get Lucy found. And thusly makes her look obvious as hell. And in this moment, to Dimitri and to the others searching with him, she looks like their rising sun.

Lucy does bring a new dawn with her, being full capable of helping the war effort in ways Byleth simply couldn’t. And, for Dimitri, grants him the relief of knowing that he wouldn’t have to live alone anymore.

In my mind, when this scene plays out, I imagine how heart wrenching it must be for Dimitri to finally grasp hold of Lucy. Being able to physically feel her water-chilled skin, see her chest rising and falling, and know that her gentle pulse is beneath his fingertips. This is no illusion, this is not a trick of his mind, her body is as real as it can get. She was alive, and in his arms, and his world has never felt so bright. The lies he had poisoned himself with are washed away in the river as he gets to carry his beloved Professor back to the shore, back to the world that misses her more than anything.

And while he doesn’t feel worthy of being the one to carry her, the idea of anyone else doing so makes his blood churn.

We as a fandom do not talk enough about the fact that Dimitri closed himself off from his childhood friend group after what happened in Duscur. This is stated very plainly in canon that those relationships he had with Felix, Sylvain, and Ingrid are severely frayed in major part because he closed himself off from them and clung to Dedue so tightly. The last time Felix and Dimitri saw each other was two years prior to the Academy. TWO YEARS between then and the Academy. Felix said Dimitri was his best friend, and yet Dimitri didn't try to reach out to Felix once? Dimitri was implied to have hardly interacted with Ingrid even before the Tragedy based on his reaction to her having learned fighting techniques from Glenn. Glenn, who Dimitri stated in Three Hopes was his best friend, and he didn't think to reach out to his best friend's fiancée once in the years following his death? And with Sylvain, he doesn't even get a full support chain with him, and their support chain is mostly about flirting with women, and their only addition from Hopes is just them discussing military and political stuff. That's it. On the scales of friendship Dimitri is currently in "childhood friend I don't really hang out with outside of work/school" with the rest of the "Faerghus Four" at the start of the game. The most important person in his life from before the Academy is Dedue. Not Ingrid. Not Felix. Not Sylvain. It's Dedue. The main thing keeping the "Faerghus Four" group together at this point in the story is a vague sense of familiarity and a societal obligation to protect the Blaiddyd royal bloodline. And that could easily change if the right person (Byleth) comes along. And the thing is, Dimitri is actually aware of this. He often chides himself on his missteps interacting with Ingrid and Felix pre-timeskip in their supports. They're essentially starting from square one.

And that is FAR more fascinating to analyze and write about than most of the fandom's insistence that they are tried and true bffs who would never ever abandon each other ever.

i have yet to see an actual person call them the Faerghus 4 instead of the Faerghus 5.

This has been long in the making but i want to make a post as to why the Golden Deers doesn't get taken as seriously as the other classes and why Leicester is treated like a third wheel by both the writers and the fanbase.

To summerize Leicester itself, it's history, and it's issues either got poorly handled or lack the same effort put into their counterparts/nearly similar counterparts.

Faerghus and Adrestia has a deep history of animosity against eachother ranging from the rebellion, battle of the eagle and lion, gronder field being the known battle site of the war and it ending in a climactic conclusion of the first king killing the opposing emperor.

Leicester is a third wheel to both nations, the crescent moon war is only mentioned in the library and an Azure Moon npc right after Claude gave Leicester to Faerghus and it's conclusion ended in a stalemate. They don't even have a famous battle site of their own.

Arianrhod and Merceus protect their respective territories from its neighbouring countries. Fodlan's locket only protects Leicester from Almyra, a poorly handled race with a poorly handled reason for conflict.

Dimitri and Edelgard have a history with eachother albeit a small one. Claude is a third wheel.

We both see Dimitri's and Edelgard's father's, we don't have a single design for one of Claude's parents nor his uncle.

Claude in the localization isn't allowed to be as angry as in the original script.

When Dimitri attacks him in Verdant Wind he's sounds annoyed but calm, when Edelgard refuses to stand down he's pleading with sadness and with Rhea still being secretive about the true history behind Fodlan he is angry but its still on the calmer side if things when you hear him in the original script.

In the Japanese script Claude is absolutely pissed at them.

Despite the fact they're both horrendously handled Duscur actually exists within the first half of white clouds through both the tragedy and Dedue. Almyra on the other hand doesn't in the main story of white clouds safe for a handful of npcs mentioning Almyra.

Moving onto the other classmates

The reason behind Marianne's self hatred and cursed reputation doesn't get mentioned until her timeskips paralouge. Bernadetta at least has her first support with Byleth to explain her issues.

Despite the fact that Sylvain and Hilda being one of the closest counterparts ( Their both from major houses tasked with the defense of their nation against invaders, have an active father and a crestless elder brother ) Sylvain's life is difficult and complicated while Hilda's is all rainbows and lollipops.

Sylvain is forced to inherit the Gautier mantle, has a strict father, an elder brother that violently hates him and became an infamous bandit and is only valued for his crest while I'm contrast Hilda has a doting father and a renowned and loving brother, doesn't have to inherit the Goneril mantle and lives lavishly despite her crest. Her only so called fear is wasting effort just to dissapoint people cause she saw how it affected her brother. Also we don't talk about how evil the Gonerils are for enslaving Almyran orphans let alone call it slavery hyuck hyuck.

When They See How You’ve Changed

Dimitri

The first time he sees you again, he really can't believe it

It takes him a moment to realize he isn't hallucinating, that you really are standing right in front of him, in the flesh

Once he does, he starts to notice just how different you look. Time's been kind to you, from the sharp jut of your jawline to the firmness of your body when you hold your hand out for him, your muscles more defined since the last time he'd seen you

He thinks you're even more handsome than you were back then, but he stumbles over himself trying to get the words out

He's changed a lot in the past few years too, he's sure, but with you it's like he can't take his eye off of you for even a second

He gets shy if you point out his staring, though he makes sure to let you know why he is in his typical fashion

"What's wrong, is there something on my face?" You ask teasingly, knowing that's not at all why he's been gazing at you as if he was bewitched.

Long, blonde hair nearly obscures his one good eye, and he shakes his head, besting you in height now even though he was the shorter one all those years ago.

"No- it's just..." Dimitri starts, slowly stepping closer to you. He reaches a gloved hand out towards you almost hesitantly, jumping when you gently clasp it between your own.

If you didn't know any better, you'd say his feelings for you hadn't changed. Yours hadn't either. They'd only grown stronger, brought back to the surface with the shy smile that lights up his somber expression. "You've really grown, haven't you? It's a little hard to take in."

You haven't seen a smile as sincere as that one in a long while, his fair skin dusted lightly with pink, and it makes your heart race, knowing that he's this nervous because of you. It feels like no time's passed at all, honestly not when his touch reminds you of the countless battles you've fought by his side.

A shout from across the lands to watch your back, or a comforting squeeze of your shoulder when he noticed you were upset or stressed out. "You have too, you know. Remember when we used to spend our nights in the garden together? I wonder how that place is now."

"Maybe so," he says, taking the opportunity to interlock your fingers together. He softens when you don't untangle from him, something unspoken lingering in the air between you that threatens to break the longer you both stand there. "And how could I ever forget?"

Felix

5 years after everything went down, you and Felix find each other in the most unexpected of places. He hadn't changed much, still sporting that same neutral expression with his hair being slightly shorter than it was

He realizes you have, though. A lot, actually. You'd gotten a fair bit taller, any lingering baby fat now gone and making way for the face of a man he's always been quite fond of

He isn't as straightforward with what he wants to say most of the time, so it comes off as him avoiding eye contact with you if you try to keep it

You might have to prod him a little bit to get him to say what he's thinking, you might not. It all depends on his mood

But the one thing you know for sure is that he keeps eyeing you when he thinks you aren't looking. You know him well enough to notice little things like that

You were one of the few consistents in his life, after all, somebody that was on par with his skills and put up with him where others had a piece to say about his personality

It's why you're not surprised when he instead says:

"You know, you still owe me that rematch."

You raise an eyebrow, crossing your arms over your chest with a small smirk. "Oh? I would've thought you'd forgotten," you ask, thinking about the last time you'd trained with him.

You'd narrowly won, deciding then to devote extra time to nip your weaknesses in the bud. It wouldn't be a fair fight if you didn't try. "It has been a while since our last match."

Felix chuckles, readjusting the sword in his holster and shrugging his shoulders. "I mentioned before how you were a worthy opponent, back when you agreed to continue to train with me." He says, reflecting on that promise you made to him. It's not something you could forget that easily, and you know he wouldn't, either. "That much hasn't changed."

You hum, "Alright then, I'll spar with you, but if I win you have to tell me what's been on your mind."

He must be able to catch what you really mean when you say that, but if he has any objections, then he doesn't voice them. He simply nods, gracing you with one of his rare smiles that you would die 20 times over to see again.

"Deal. And if I win, then you have to treat me to dinner."

Ashe

He is SUCH a sweetheart I was just rewatching his supports but anyways....

When he sees you, it's needless to say that he becomes a blushing mess. There standing the one that swept him off his feet was you in all your glory, bright and even more mature looking than he remembers you being

He's quick to tell you that you're handsome, even if it takes everything in him to say it without stuttering

His words are always so sincere, nothing hiding behind them like a lot of the people you've met and gotten to know over the years

So when you gently cut him off before he starts to ramble too much, he looks at you sheepishly, calmly asking if you were busy after this

He'll insist on treating you to some tea and sweets even if you say he doesn't need to. He won't call it a date, per se, he's mostly just eager to finally be able to catch up with you, but if you do, he gets super flustered

"A d-date? I m-mean- if you see it that way, then...." Ashe trails off, nervously tucking a loose strand of gray hair behind his ear. He walks side by side with you down the busy, crowded streets, tensing up when your hand brushes his. "I guess I can't complain, can I?"

"Do you?" You grin, eyes more focused on him than the scenery around you. Different tenders trying to get people to buy their wares while others chat about this and that fill your ears, whispers of wind sending a shiver up your spine.

He whistles some old tune to himself, quiet enough that you would've missed it if you weren't so close. He glances from you back down to the gravel on the ground that crunches beneath his feet, and then mutters. "Only if... only if you don't think that's weird."

"I don't." You give him a playful nudge with your elbow, leaving it at that.

It doesn't take very long for you to make it to the cafe he had picked out. He said that it was a nice place he'd found by accident one time, that the prices weren't too bad (mainly so that you didn't feel bad) and they'd definitely have something you'd like. It was sweet, how he tended to think of others like that, especially you.

Thousands of years could pass, the sun and moon turning into nothing but distant memories and Fódlan something of the past, and yet nothing would ever get rid of how you felt for him.

The two of you find a nice seat in the back, near an open window with a fair amount of sunlight and away from a group of friends in the front. You wait until he's scanning his menu to peek up from yours, smiling when his eyes quickly find yours anyway. "You sure have a knack for finding hidden treasures. This place is nice."

"I suppose so, but it's nicer with you here."

Sylvain

This man is already a flirt but even though it's toned down a bit later on, he doesn't cut any corners

If he thought you were attractive back then, then he thinks you must be on par with a prince now, your frame well-maintained and becoming of such a title

The first time he sees you again, he's nearly starstruck, blown away by just how much you've changed since the last time you'd talked. He won't hold back in saying that, either

"Well look at you, I'm surprised you aren't surrounded by ladies yet" while he thinks about how to get you to see his words aren't empty

You might think it's just his usual antics, waving them off with a roll of your eyes and taking another bite of the food on your plate

But then he looks at you. Really looks at you, brown eyes gazing into yours, and you have to admit it makes you feel some sort of way

"Come on, now you're just buttering me up." You say, stabbing your fork and knife into your steak and cutting a small slice. You bring it to your lips, feeling more than seeing his foot kick yours underneath the table. Whether it's an accident or on purpose, you can't say, but you wouldn't put the latter past him.

"Not at all, really." He ignores his own, more untouched plate while you talk in between bites, a mischievous smile playing on his lips as he twirls a strand of red hair between his fingers. "Can't you just trust me on this one?"

You chew the piece in your mouth and swallow, pointing your fork at him accusatively, but he doesn't seem offended in the slightest. "Uh-uh, you're the same as ever, Sylvain."

"But I'm serious! I've always thought you were handsome." He exclaims, pouting when you laugh at his clear desperation. "I don't only think of girls, y'know."

You squint in doubt, but you decide to humor him just this once. If he meant what he said, then he'd have no trouble saying it again or proving it to you. You'd take either, truth be told. "Really?"

He nods fast enough that you think his head might fall off his shoulders, a determined glint in his eyes that tells you you're in for a ride. "Let me show you what I mean after we eat, then, I'll take you anywhere you wanna go, just say the word. It's all on me today."

dimitri has such a sincere and genuine personality that he could fall for a variety of personalities. first and foremost, he would be incredibly attracted to someone kind and empathetic. despite being good-natured himself, he’s prone to falling into depression and moments of self doubt due to his traumas. a kind, empathetic individual would balance out his low moods and bring a light to his darkness.

there would have to be something else on top of kindness, though. dimitri would be drawn to a partner that has a quirk of some sort, whether it be corny humor or wacky hobbies & interests. he considers himself to be rather plain, so encountering someone that could bewilder him with their uniqueness would have him particularly drawn. you enjoy collecting bugs? he doesn’t quite understand it, but the novelty of it has him intrigued enough to ask you questions and show his support. always cracking jokes? he might act stern and annoyed with your humor at times, but he’d look forward to seeing you just to hear your laugh.

someone with strong ideals and morals would also be incredibly attractive to him. he has his own goals and ambitions he’s passionate about, and he’d want to hear about yours, too. he would only fall harder if his partner shared the same ideals as him. 

he struggles to initiate and can get consumed by his own thoughts, so a straightforward significant other would keep him grounded and build his confidence. someone comfortable making the first move until he’s ready to take the lead (this is less of an issue post timeskip and post unhinged emo era). he’d be simultaneously flustered and infatuated by someone who wasn’t afraid to praise or compliment him outright, anything to show he’s not overthinking the possibility that his affections are reciprocated. it would be a bonus if they had enough charm to tease him and bring out his playful side.

as shown in his supports, dedue is not much of a conversationalist. that being said, he would be drawn to a significant other that can fill the silences that are sure to come in the beginnings of your relationship. he can be flighty and dismissive at times as a means to keep others at a distance, so being around someone that compels him to stay with their own outgoing nature would make his heart flutter. he wouldn’t like feeling pressured or pushed to talk, but having a partner with the ability to smoothly coax responses out of him until he’s fully engaging in the conversation would go a long way. 

dedue with a chatty partner! even if the conversation consists of them rambling about their interests, or their day, or the food served at dinner evening, he’s enamored. dedue is an exceptionally good listener, and overtime he would come to realize that he could listen to you for hours on end. there would have to be moderation, though, as he would want to be able to enjoy quiet moments with you, simply enjoying each other’s company.

stoic and reserved, dedue can be difficult to read. he would benefit from an observant partner that could pick up on his body language and subtle tells. being able to notice when he’s uncomfortable with something and see past his neutral front would make him feel seen in a way he isn’t accustomed to. 

and, of course, be kind to him. ignore his protests that there is no need to flatter him or treat him kindly, and be earnest and genuine in your affection for him. he would be taken aback at first, possibly even uncomfortable, but overtime your amicable gestures would break down his defenses. dedue would fall for a kind soul, one without discrimination or malice. 

[ sylvain j. gautier ]

oh sylvain. moving past his issues with genuine connection and intimacy, sylvain would be capable of falling deeply for someone, given they were able to work with him and his issues. he would be attracted to someone more on the no-nonsense side, someone capable of putting him in his place at first. pre-timeskip sylvain would be difficult to grasp unless you’re able to see through his flowery nonsense and be straightforward with him about not tolerating his behavior. there would be push and pull, and the game of that alone would keep him engaged. he would shift between waving off your rejections, becoming internally frustrated with his developing feelings, and ultimately seeking out your company for genuine connection. it’s stereotypical, but being “not like the others” would unfortunately catch his attention and draw him to you. 

in order to keep this up, you would need to have a lot of emotional maturity. sylvain can be incredibly perceptive and introspective when he wants to be, and having a partner with a high level of emotional maturity would encourage him to show this side more. he would try to deny it at first, but being with someone that’s able to “read” him upfront and see his true feelings would be… relieving, to say the least.

he would be attracted to someone creative and intelligent, with their own set of unique interests and hobbies. a benefit to being with sylvain is that he’s incredibly open-minded and nonjudgmental, so a nerdy, eccentric partner would only intrigue him further. he’s also a lover of the arts himself, and he would be enamored if you had a knack for art or writing (his supports with bernadetta are a testament to this). his encouragement may seem insincere at first, especially if this is before the timeskip, but he’s genuine in his interest in your work.

felix is a tricky one. he’s so stubborn and people averse that he wouldn’t even have an idea of what traits he’s attracted to. in an opposites attract sort of way, i can see him falling for someone sweet and cheerful, or at least kinder than he is. he would act annoyed at first, of course (unless your personality is similar to annette, in which case he may be less harsh), but he would find himself drawn to a friendly and kind disposition. the stark contrast to his own rough around the edges personality would soften him, much to his dismay, and encourage him to loosen up a bit. it would also cause some inner turmoil, as he tells himself to stay away for the sake of preserving your light, something he doesn’t believe he has. in the end, his own infatuation would compel him to stick around despite his inner protests.

he’ll deny it at first, but felix would like a playful partner. not in a boisterous, pulling pranks sense, but a good-natured, humorous, “saying something that you know will crack a smile out of him” kind of way. he can stand to be teased a bit, too, even if it initially seems like a way to instantly annoy him. he would come to appreciate the lightheartedness, as it would coax him into somewhat letting his guard down.

he would appreciate someone strong, though their strength wouldn’t have to be purely physical. a quiet, unyielding strength would intrigue him, especially if he initially saw you as weak. he would also appreciate someone that isn’t too sensitive, as he can be harsh with his words and delivery. granted, he would try to mince his words for someone he truly cared about, but a partner that’s, for the most part, unbothered by his brash way of speaking would put him at ease.

going further into felix preferring someone with thicker skin, he would secretly swoon over a partner that’s willing to stand up to him when he’s being too edgy or stubborn. he admits that he can be a fool at times, so having someone to keep him grounded and embrace his own humanity would benefit him.

of course, he would immediately fall for someone that challenged him. someone he can train with, improve with, someone he can lose to. that alone would keep him engaged and wanting to be around you more.

i have a headcanon that ashe gets crushes rather easily, giving him a wide range of personalities he’d fall for. of course, he would find someone kind and cheerful to be endearing, feeling soothed by their gentle nature. he would also admire a confident, outspoken personality, since he’s working to find his own voice and confidence. i could even see him falling for a shyer personality, as it would encourage him to seek you out and initiate conversations.

a commonality amidst all of these personalities would be that his potential significant other would have to match his earnestness. ashe wouldn’t care if you didn’t share the exact same interests, but seeing you passionate about anything would fill him with admiration. he would fall for traits he could admire; tenacity, creativity, vigilance. 

 similar to dimitri, i think ashe would appreciate eccentricity. he’s open-minded and intrigued by most things, so being around someone that introduced him to new and novel interests would enthrall him. he would appreciate someone that he can explore new things with, someone open to adventure and exploring. bonus points if they’re more adventurous than him, as it would encourage him to come out of his shell. 

though he would definitely fall for someone kind and good-natured, he would also be drawn to someone blunt and straightforward. ashe can be too kind at times, and he would genuinely appreciate being with someone that can help him decipher when he’s people pleasing too much. 

[ annette f. dominic ]

annette would like a strong but silent type, someone that balances her cheerful and bubbly nature. she wouldn’t be attracted to a personality that was too dark or brooding, rather a grounded presence she can feel secure around. she’s naturally clumsy and prone to occasionally making small mistakes, so having someone that can keep her on her toes (figuratively and literally), would be endearing. 

to add to this, she would like having a partner she could spend a lot of time with. it could seem like she’s dragging you around, but ultimately she just enjoys being able to try new things with someone. she would fall for someone open-minded and lacking in harsh or judgmental opinions, as she has her own quirks and hobbies she would want to feel comfortable sharing. 

she would fall for someone hard working, earnest, and willing to grow with her. she’s incredibly heard working and fastidious, and she would benefit from a partner that shares her desire to succeed and improve. with this comes patience as well, as she wouldn’t mesh well with someone too critical or irritable.

ingrid would fall for someone hard working, passionate, and goal-oriented. she would prefer a partner that she can work alongside; i don’t see her faring well with someone lazy and unmotivated. she takes her ambitions very seriously, and she would be drawn to someone of a similar nature, even if their goals are different than her own. the passion alone is what matters to her, and she would seek a significant other that could provide a dynamic of mutual support and encouragement. 

with encouragement comes improvement, and she would admire a partner that wasn’t afraid to give her constructive criticism. she prefers direct communication, even if it’s difficult, so her ideal partner would be capable of communicating clearly and honestly. 

she would enjoy a competitive partner, or at least a partner that’s playful enough to push her out of her comfort zone. she can get stuck in her own routines, so having someone that can steer her away from comfortability would be a must. 

the ultimate bonus is someone that can cook or shares her love for food. omitting everything above, food might be the key to her heart; she would inevitably find herself falling for someone with culinary prowess.

perhaps this is controversial, but i feel that mercedes would fall for a significant other that harbors their own fair share of issues and trauma. if they were troubled in their own way, but earnest enough that they were clearly willing and trying to improve, her heart would draw her to them. not necessarily in a savior complex way, but in a such way where she would appreciate your emotional complexity and find herself drawn to your humanity. 

this goes both ways, as mercedes has her own issues and traumas that she mostly keeps to herself. one of the reasons she would find herself drawn to a partner with their own set of baggage is that it would encourage her to open up about her own. she would appreciate the mutual connection, and having someone that understands and empathizes with her would warm her heart. 

even though mercedes is perceptive enough to read you on her own, she would appreciate a partner that’s open and honest. she loves candid conversations and values communications highly, so she would be drawn to someone sociable and outspoken. 

mercedes is very nurturing, and as such can get lost in taking care of other people. it would catch her off guard, but ultimately relieve her, if you showed her the intense attention and care she shows others. surprising her with kind gestures, words of encouragement, and acts of service is a surefire way to her heart.

Refresher for people (since I think a lot of us have forgotten what's going down in Fearghus during the timeskip).

Cornelia is in charge. She is in power, backed by TWSTD, the western lords, and the Empire.

The northern lords (mainly Fraldarius and Gautier as the big ones) oppose this. They are in the minority, most of the lords have defected due to imperial or TWSTD pressure. The defectors are the same ones who completed the Duscar genocide, for context. Some of the more impoverished counties (such as Galatea) are sort of stuck, they don't have the power to oppose or uphold either side.

Due to the imperial war, most of western Faerghus has either been taken over by the empire or been wrangled into subjugation as dummy nobles in Cornelia's puppet state.

The civil war, which Felix and Sylvain are fighting in, is a loosing battle. Fraldarius and Gautier are using a lot of their resources trying to defend their people and Faerghus as a whole.

Dimitri has been captured for killing his uncle (which he did not do), imprisoned, tortured, and scheduled to be executed. Dimitri escaped the execution, and goes to fight against the empire, whilst being on the run from Cornelia, and TWSTD who know he is still alive. Dedue is 'killed' helping him escape.

Cornelia tells the people that the execution was private. No-one was allowed to bury him (because he escaped and there's no body but she neglects to mention that bit). Roderigue went ballistic at Cornelia because of this.

Whilst the civil war is happening, the outer villages are being sacked by the imperial army. Dimitri kills imperial soldiers (only soldiers and generals, it is very explicitly stated) to stop them from rampaging across the villages and country-side ("generals/soldiers controlling former Kingdom territories"), whilst being in hiding. From the state of the supplies in the timeskip, and a few dialogue bits that are scattered, it seems that Faerghus has undergone a famine - potentially as a result of troops from the empire, the kingdom, and the dukedom trampling them.

Dimitri eventually comes to Garrag Mach, to kill some bandits who have been terrorising a small village. This is where Byleth finds him.

i've been inactive recently but my brain cooker is always cooking, so i will do a small(a lie) recap of my stupid funy 3 houses main trio

i will yap about them from left to right.. under the cut! because i yap a lot and it takes too much space!

Camille Adeline Gautier - her dominant color is red, so she is obviously from blue lions house. She's Sylvain's twin, she also has a minor crest of Gautier and she also likes girls, but her distinct difference is that she is a loser but gets super jacked post-timeskip (still remains a loser). She holds a grudge against Miklan but is also scared of him to death, but also wants him dead, it's complicated and she needs therapy. AND SHE GETS ONE and is able to live freely and happily despite still being a loser. She also has a suspicious magic tome with weird spells in a different language.. and her kit is agarthan spells only.. huh! weird!

Theodore von Menja - his main color is yellow, so he is, of course, a black eagles student. He is an illegitimate son of viscount Menja of the empire... except that HE ISN'T he is an impersonator and he is SO.BAD AT HIS ONLY.JOB of impersonating. He doesn't know nobles' etiquette, he can't write like a noble, he doesn't talk like a noble, he doesn't wear his clothes like a noble (they're a bit too big) AND his recruitment condition is you giving him 50k gold. He's good at killing though and his steps are silent. He is awfully observant and is pretty good at keeping his emotions and feelings in check, showing people a side of himself he wants them to see. Post-timeskip Theo is drinking a bit too much and often talks how "it's been 10 years" and he "just wants to go home".

Sienna Crane - her signature color is blue so she is from golden deer. She is the youngest child of Crane Guild of the Alliance, who are one of the biggest merchant guilds in all of Fodlan, and also have connections outside its borders. Sienna's biological father left early on, then immediately got married and became the best polo player in the Adrestian Empire, never to be seen by his former family ever again. Sienna's mother later remarried, and the guy turned out to be a head of the Crane Guild. Sienna then grew up without any financial problems, she was always provided for and always got what she wanted. She's not a spoiled brat in the academy phase though, she is just dumb (no better way to put it) and doesn't get the value of money, but she means well and wants to help everyone. Post-timeskip things get difficult for her, and she actively tries to find a partner. During these 5 years she fucked around and found out, lost her eye, got smarter and realized the most terrifying thing a girl can realize. Her parents have arranged a marriage for her with their friend from Morfis, who is more than twice older than Sienna, and they agreed on this arrangement when she was 13! Insane! Crazy! So she does her best to escape this fate, her parents and the guild that has eyes everywhere. And she fails.

In three hopes their stories are altered, obviously, but Sienna basically escapes from her wedding in a wedding dress and fights in it. why wouldn't she change? idk

I'd love to see you write a little one shot on timeskip Dimitri (after he's kind of sane again or before, completely up to you) around horses. Reason for this is because I adore the headcanon that the reason Great Lord Dimitri isn't a mounted unit, in spite of the armor actually being riding armor, is because his old horse died at some point during the 5 year gap and it was like losing the last friend who he still had. Only if you're comfortable with it though!

all that i can really say is i hope this is worth the wait anon 😭 i rlly have no excuse for taking this long to write this lol.

His Noble Steed

“So, Your Highness, you’re gonna keep the scolding to a minimum, yeah?”

Sylvain always started their chores that way, and every other time Dimitri would roll his eyes and launch into the same lecture about how if Sylvain only took things seriously, he wouldn’t need to worry about being scolded. Only this time, he found himself silent as he faced the daunting task of entering the stable for the first time since his time as a student. He’d been refusing to do any chores for the past few months of being at Garreg Mach, but after coming back to himself a bit more and realizing what a nuisance he’s been to his allies, he decided to start pitching in some more. This meant taking over Felix’s shift on stable duty, which was to be accompanied by Sylvain.

Except that, for some reason, the Prince couldn’t bring himself to walk inside.

The smell of straw was what did it. Dimitri had no problems whenever he’d see the stable on his way between the cathedral and the gates, and even watching his comrades fighting atop their own mounts gave him little trouble. But, for some reason, the smell was what brought him back to his beloved Snow.

Snow had been an awkward, timid colt that Gustave introduced Dimitri to when he was nine years old. He had been the one to desensitize him, train him, and take care of him since Gustave decided that it was essential for a king to have a steed that would follow him for the majority of its life.

Snow had the most gorgeous white coat, but all that Dimitri could remember of him was the time it had been drenched in red, and suddenly the red was all over himself too. He was still standing up, but in his mind’s eye he felt himself horizontal, laying in a puddle of his best friend and clinging to the bones that he had cleaned for whatever meat his canines could gnaw off. He was just so hungry…

There was red in front of him, but it was more vermillion this time, and accompanied by snapping.

“Dammit, Dimitri, get back over here! The Professor’s gonna kill me if he sees that I broke you, please just lecture me or something!”

Right. Stable duty.

Dimitri blinked back into awareness and swatted Sylvain’s hand away, before remembering himself and clearing his throat. “I-I’m alright, I’m alright. I apologize.” He mumbled, his throat tight.

Sylvain wasn’t satisfied with that. “What’s wrong? I thought starting with the stables would be easy for you, you used to love horses when we were in school. It was hard to get you off of Snow back in the day—“

“Do not mention that name.” Dimitri doesn’t mean to growl, but he’s been doing that a lot lately.

Sylvain either doesn’t get the hint, or he’s playing dumb with him. Either way, it’s deeply unpleasant. “What happened with Snow?”

Dimitri’s silence says all that it needs to, but he still forces a response. “I had been attacked by Imperial soldiers who recognized me. Snow… did not make it through.”

It was now Sylvain’s turn to be silent, but that only lasted a few seconds before he started talking entirely too much. “Oh… Oh no, I should’ve known something like that happened. It didn’t make any sense for you to be fighting as infantry, but��� shit. I’m sorry, Dimitri.”

“It’s… it’s alright. I should not allow such things to interfere with our work.”

“Yeah, but it’s not bad if it does. Felix doesn’t like heights, so he doesn’t help with the wyverns. Annette doesn’t like lifting, so she doesn’t deal with rubble. Just do what you can, y’know?” Sylvain tries to reassure, trying to remember how Glenn would’ve said it. He was always so much better with this stuff.

“Yes, but I don’t wish to shirk responsibilities for my own comfort. I will assist you in caring for the horses.” Dimitri tried to sound confident, but it just came out pathetic. This whole thing made him feel so pathetic.

“Alright, if you want. Let’s go.” Sylvain takes Dimitri’s hand and starts to pull him into the stable, and for some reason the Prince finds himself allowing this to happen.

Dimitri has gone through the motions of stable duty enough for it not to be a terrible experience. He sweeps the floors and refills the horses’ food and water while Sylvain cleans the stalls and brushes each horse, paying special attention to his own mare, Buttercup. Typically, Dimitri would have done far more (and given Sylvain a stern talking-to about making contributions to the community) but he found his hands shaking every time he got too close to any of the horses, and whenever they’d acknowledge him in any verbal manner, he had to resist the urge to jump away with every bone in his body. He’d need to remember to sing his friend’s praises to the Professor when it was time to give their report.

“Hey, Dimitri.” Sylvain called as Dimitri finished sweeping. “Wanna brush Buttercup? I think she’s missed you.” He asked casually. Buttercup, an older, pitch-black mare, had been Sylvain’s since he was only six. Their relationship had a rocky start (if Sylvain wasn’t bruised and battered by Miklan, it was from the damn horse) but they had grown into the best of friends, something that Sylvain boasted about frequently.

Dimitri froze at the question, before remembering that a question like that typically required a verbal answer. “I should not, I wouldn't want to hurt her.” He declined, only to receive a scoff in response.

“Hurt her? Please, she’s tough enough to deal with getting her hair pulled a bit. Even a Blaiddyd pull.” Sylvain held a curry comb out to Dimitri with a warm smile, similar to the one he used when trying to lure women into his bed. Few were able to resist his charms, and Dimitri was no exception. Hesitantly, he took the comb into his shaking hand and approached the mare, who was still unbothered.

“…Hello, Buttercup. It has been quite a while since we last met this way.” He spoke formally, as if the horse was a noblewoman. The horse in question just sniffed, earning an undignified yelp from Dimitri that Sylvain had to stifle a laugh at.

“You’re fine, Your Highness. You know her, remember? It’s fine.” He tried to reassure. Dimitri took a few deep breaths, but his hands were still shaking as he started to comb through Buttercup’s mane, the thick hair already free of tangles thanks to Sylvain’s attentiveness. The mare was as well-behaved as ever, standing still and unbothered while the flustered Prince combed through her mane. The next time she moved, Dimitri flinched quietly, and by the time he had finished, he was all but composed while handling his friend’s horse.

“Good girl…” Dimitri whispered as he finished brushing her tail, much to Sylvain’s satisfaction.

“See? You’re so good with her. Wanna take her for a ride next time?” Sylvain offered with a grin, but Dimitri shook his head.

“I don’t think so. But… thank you, Sylvain. I had been wanting to re-acclimate myself with horses for some time now.”

“Anytime, Dimitri. I told you to rely on me for these things.”

What music I think the Blue Lion’s would listen to!

Dimitri- everything, literally. His playlists are complete messes with far too many harsh genre changes. But his overall favorites are theatre music/soundtracks cause they’re fun and rock/metal cause they’re loud but calming (metal is actually linked to stress relief!). I also see modern au post timeskip Dimitri as having kind of an alt aesthetic.

Dedue- the classics and folk. Also not music but his Spotify is filled with like calming rain sounds. He listens to classics meaning 60s-80s pop, country and folk. He makes playlists with immaculate calming vibes and is in charge of the aux a lot of the time. I also feel like he has a great singing voice.

Sylvain- Sad. Girl. Pop. This man is in the top 0.001% of MARINA listeners and not doing well. He wants to listen to fun pop and definitely always knows all the top songs and what’s playing on the radio but his actual playlists and listening history is sad.

Ingrid- classical music and operas. She was raised listening to it and has done full workouts to Johannes Brahms. I also feel like she would really like phonk?? But hate sexualized music so she’s picky. Eventually Dedue gets her into classic pop. For her it’s mostly about a songs vibe.

Felix- in contrast Felix cares most about the vocals. He doesn’t really have a specific genre he likes he just likes good vocals. His Spotify is probably filled with all time classics and indie artists with stunning vocals. Although I do feel like he dislikes metal screaming. I also feel like he can sing.

Mercedes- another person who really listens to anything and the only one who likes Dimitri’s playlists. While she doesn’t have a favorite genre she does tend to prefer female vocalists. She also listens to and sings a lot of Church hymns but isn’t a fan of religious music as a whole. Unlike Dimitri she should be trusted with the aux.

Annette- fun pop music with good vibes. She also gives kpop girl group listener vibes. I also think she adores musicals. Most of her music is positive and she happily sings along while doing her chores and such. She’s definitely open to most music though and loves asking people their favs.

Ashe- indie rock 100%. Stuff like Good Kid and Florence + The Machine. He makes detailed playlists for different vibes. I also think he listens a lot to country and folk which he mostly learns from Dedue. Most of his playlists are some type of cozy.
