The CPME statement also cautioned the Palestinians that no matter what al-Fateh might be accomplishing through its violent actions, it was actually serving the interests of imperialism and the Arab ruling classes, not the Palestinian masses. It was ridiculous for anyone to think that the Arabs were fighting a national liberation struggle in the usual sense. Revolutionary Arab nationalism merely diverted the Arab world’s attention away from American imperialism. The statement called on al-Fateh to halt guerrilla warfare against Israel and instead focus on “redirecting that struggle internally in Arab lands.”
A few months later, the CPME issued a statement inviting students to attend a meeting on the evening of May 15, 1969, titled “Does Israel Have the Right to Exist?” The statement echoed some of the CPME’s positions, particularly in affirming Israel’s nationhood and urging the Left not to be a partisan of either side but instead work for the reconciliation of both Israeli and Palestinian rights, not support the defeat of one side or the other. Turning to campus events, the CPME statement then scored the Radical Student Union for endorsing Palestine Week without demanding that Arab students recognize Israel. The statement ended by noting that the Middle East situation was complex and required “study and thought,” not “cute” resolutions issued so that students could prove “they’re really ‘with third worlders.’”

just started watching dark and i think people who like this show need to give true detective season 1 a try. dark crime thrillers with deeply existential themes related to the nature of time.

knowing you were queer at a young age is so funny because now you get to watch people your age rehash discourse you figured out when you were 13 and in the comments of an instagram account named something like “lgbtpandas”

This post has been up for five hours and nobody pointed out I wrote 2023 instead of 2024 HAHAH
My bad everyone - sign ups are still open for this year, no time travel necessary!
Participant sign-ups for the 2024 Podcast Jam close this Saturday, March 23, 2024!
If you're unfamiliar, the @podcastjam is a collaborative event hosted through our Discord server, intended to help bridge the gap between listening to podcasts and creating one!
Over the next couple months, teams are collaborating to write, voice, edit, and make music for the pilot episode of a new podcast. It's been incredibly fun so far, and, once again, not to late to join in on the party!
Feel free to check out our website for more information, or head right on over to the Discord. Hope to see you there!

I don't see a point at trying to improve my life. Every effort I make to do so leads to a dead end or a worse result. Sometimes I think back to my Buddhist upbringing and think this is what I'm supposed to endure and experience. It can't be changed. The universe or whatever has made it so for this life time. Accept what can't be changed and move on.

Sufjan is neither gay nor catholic 😔 (he is probably bisexual and protestant, but I don't think he's publicly claimed to be either lol)
last I heard anglo-catholic episcopal, and iirc he’s never talked about his sexuality in public (which, fair, good for him) but like it was more the fact that this is an interaction I saw online this morning and like it fully threw me back to 2012 and the “is this sufjan stevens song gay or about jesus” memes

still on my first watch through so i am not yet a full-fledged true detective Understander™, but i love how they show us how rust and marty have become enmeshed in ways that, even after a decade of separation, they can't undo. like, episode 1 (1995) marty would never have said the sentence "father time has his way with us all," that's some odd shit, right there. But 2012 marty finds that to be a reasonable response to rust telling him he "look(s) like (he's) doing all right." and rust just, he still trusts marty to have his back, after a decade of silence, he tells him what he's kept his trap shut about in that interview, gives him the pitch on the cover-up. he tells him shit that, if marty told to the cops, would almost certainly land him a guilty sentence. without a second thought. he doesn't know if marty will help him, but he knows marty won't hurt him. anyway.
