14: Normal
(previous)
this can't be right. this is not your home.
->no gore. no sex. nothing to worry about. a normal place.
.
.
.
Home, says the heart. You are home.
The road is new. Perfect, smooth asphalt, black as pitch and spotless. No cracks or potholes, no uneven bumpiness or sudden dips. You’ve never driven a street so flawless. Your heart races at the sight of towering shapes in the distance, rigid giants looming in the fog. Is the thing you dream of here? A fence rises along the roadside, stone pillars and decorative wrought iron bars. You see city on the other side; populated sidewalks, angular rooftops, trimmed shrubbery.
“That’s strange,” you mutter. “There’s nothing on this side of the fence. Is the whole city over there?”
Jamie stares out the window with a growing frown. “Maybe the fence is anchorware tech?” they reason, but they don’t sound too certain. Your apprehension is starting to outweigh your excitement. As you drive further, those giants in the fog reveal themselves; glittering office towers. High rise apartments. Buildings no different than what you might find in the Drift’s other major metropolises. The people on the other side of the fence stare at your passing car with concerned faces. They shrink back. They vanish into their houses. They look human. Only human.
You haven’t gone far enough, you tell yourself. There’s more to this place. People like you, somewhere. There has to be. You come at last to a pair of enormous, ornate gates. To the right sits a small black building that reminds you of Compass Hill in the old days, a place where an unpleasant man would sit and scrutinize all the traffic that passed in and out of the textile factory. There is a man standing in the doorway of this building, too, face pinched with suspicion, muttering into a two-way radio.
“This can’t be right,” you say weakly.
Between the gates is a stone pillar with an embedded, gold-lettered plaque. “ANCHOR,” it says in stark, unwelcoming letters. “A PRIVATE GATED COMMUNITY.”
[NOW PLAYING ON THE RADIO: BLACK WATER BY TIMBER TIMBRE]
The man at the gates comes up to your window, tapping on it impatiently. “State your business,” he says. He’s scowling, his voice gruff and irritated. The old textile factory employees staffing the gate were security guards, dressed in blue shirts and black slacks, little radios clipped to their belts. This one wears black body armor, a bulky tactical vest and fatigues, his hand resting on the gun holstered on his leg. He looks like a mercenary.
He’s a stranger. This is probably his job. But the words, the bristling aggression in his stance, feel like a slap in the face. You’d thought—expected, maybe, dared to hope after the girl’s homecoming in Compass Hill—a different outcome, but no part of you was prepared for this. You thought you’d see it, at least. You didn’t think they wouldn’t let you in.
“What do you want?” he snaps.
“I…” You’re stunned. You have no idea what to say. “I was…just…”
He glances into your backseat at Jamie’s bag and your assorted supplies. “There’s a different entrance for couriers,” he says. “What’s the delivery ID number?”
“I don’t—I don’t have one, I’m—”
“Excuse me, sir,” Jamie says, leaning closer to the window. “I’m from the University, Department of Paraphysics, here to conduct an inquiry. I sent word in advance that I would secure transport via courier.” They hold up an ID card. The man squints, his scowl deeper than before. He turns away and you hear him ask about someone about visiting University staff. He never lifts his other hand from his weapon. You feel sick to your stomach. Jamie squeezes your shoulder reassuringly.
“There’s no record of a University inquiry request,” the man says.
“I’d imagine not,” Jamie says, “considering the sorry state of the road coming in. You’re lucky we made it here at all. Anchor is responsible for the management and maintenance of its entry roads. I’d like very much to speak with someone from the anchorware labs. The Department Chair is anxious to see this resolved as quickly as possible.”
The man gives Jamie a look of pure, unrestrained contempt. He lifts the radio to his face but it crackles, someone else’s voice coming through. “You can let them through. I’m almost there.”
He doesn’t let you through. You glance at Jamie but Jamie is holding his hard, hateful stare without so much as blinking.
Someone comes up to the gates from the other side. You feel like you’ve seen him before; in the city, passing you on the street. In a commercial with no speaking lines. On a billboard you glanced at for a fraction of a second. You recognize Bachman by his leather gloves and the strangeness inherent to the rest of him—facial features that fade from your mind the moment you’re no longer looking at him, conventionally attractive but instantly forgettable.
“I said you could let them in,” he says.
The man beside your car looks at Bachman with the same disdain he held for you, only thinly veiled. “Courier can wait out here, can’t they?” he says.
Bachman’s smile is the same easygoing one you saw in Nelton right before he warned you not to eat anything. “Open the gate, Caesar.”
The man scowls. He saunters back to his guard post with one last nasty look at you and Jamie. A moment later, there’s a metallic clanging and rattling. The gates swing slowly outward. Bachman steps aside and motions for you to pull in. You think about turning around and leaving instead, but you want to know. You want to see it, at least. You drive slowly through the open gates. Bachman walks around to your open window.
“It’s probably best if you park near the courier gates. Leaving will be less of a hassle that way,” he says, his smile apologetic. “You see this road here? Just follow it straight, all the way down. You’ll see signs. All of the spots are open. I’ll meet you there.”
You have so many questions but he’s already leaving, starting a slow, casual pace down the sidewalk. There are people standing around, staring at you. Now that you’re closer, you can see they give you the same looks Caesar did, apprehensive and hostile. You roll up your window, swallow your fear, and drive. Jamie is trying to reassure you, still rubbing your shoulder, but they’re keeping an eye on your surroundings.
“I’ve never heard of this place,” you say quietly. “I guess it makes sense. I thought anchorware was called that because that’s what it does, but it’s named after the city where they make it.” You take a deep breath. Stay calm. Distract yourself. You’re determined to get something out of this. It’s a beautiful city, full of lush greenery, ritzy boutiques and bookshops, and a network of sparkling canals spanned by picturesque stone bridges. There are stores, suburbs, patches of farmland, industrial parks. You ignore the looks of open disgust following your car.
Jamie nods. “It’s my understanding that Anchor often turns up at the very edge of the Drift, usually far from anything else. Most people have never been here. And aside from a fleet of anchorware technicians, people from Anchor prefer not to leave. They’re…” Jamie hesitates. You feel them looking at you, their eyes full of pity. “They’re very proud of their…normalcy. How little they’re affected by shifts.”
You find the courier gate easily enough. It’s further from the suburbs and closer to the skyscrapers and offices of the business district. Bachman is just crossing the street, accompanied by an older man with graying temples, a matching burgundy suit and tie. They’re the only ones so far who’ve seemed happy to see you and you rush to greet them. Jamie is slower to get out of the car. They put on a smile that’s broad and convincing, but you’ve seen enough of their feigned nonchalance to spot the stiffness in it.
“Mr. Tiptree,” they say, nodding to the man you thought was called Bachman. “Dr. Gallagher. I assume I have you to thank for getting me through the door.”
Dr. Gallagher chuckles. “I’m terribly sorry about that, Dr. Higgs. You know we take our security very seriously, but I’ll see to it that you’re added to the permitted guest roster. Your next visit should be much smoother. Shall we?”
“Do you mind if my courier accompanies us?” they ask. You feel their hand settle between your shoulder blades. “They’re just finishing up their apprenticeship and will be enrolled next year. They’ll be joining my research team, of course. I’d like them to get properly acquainted with the facilities.” The lie rolls off their tongue easily. You hope this won’t get them into trouble later. Dr. Gallagher regards you with newfound interest and glances up and down, appraising you.
“I don’t see why not,” he says. You can’t tell what he’s thinking. His smile is cordial but not overly friendly. He starts leading the three of you into town, towards a massive, harshly angular slab of modern architecture, a pincushion of skywalks connecting it to a cluster of smaller neighboring buildings. He walks beside Jamie, in front of you and Bachman.
“I’m glad to see you got out of Nelton unscathed,” Bachman says.
“Ah. Right.” You pass other people on the sidewalk, giving you the same unnerved glare as all the rest. “Is…am I misremembering your name?”
“I go by a number of different names for personal reasons. You can call me whichever one you remember.”
“What’s your real name?”
He smiles. “I’ve been hoping you would find your way here,” he says.
These must be the anchorware labs, you think, finding yourself in a brightly lit, cold-looking lobby. The first set of doors is automatic but the second set requires Dr. Gallagher to flash his badge in front of a scanner. The floor is polished to a reflective shine and the walls are glass, long hallways flanked by server rooms, data centers, teams of researchers puzzling over scribble-filled white boards. For the first time in your life, there is no pull, no invisible string lodged in your chest. Your heart tells you that you’re home but it must be mistaken.
Jamie and Dr. Gallagher stop in front of some sort of inspection room, people hunched over small, dissected anchorware boxes, metallic components scattered across tables. They’re talking about the tunnel, about increasing numbers of reported malfunctions and how the shifts are getting faster.
“Would you like to sit down?” Bachman asks. You nod weakly. He tells Dr. Gallagher you’re stepping into the hallway. He gives the briefest nod in acknowledgement and doesn’t even look at either of you. Bachman starts walking. You follow, unsure of what else to do. There are more computer terminals, more labs, more anchorware assembly lines. Eventually, you reach a break room with a round table and a coffee maker. The wall is floor to ceiling window, a view of a garden growing along the canal right outside. Bachman pulls out a chair for you. He sits beside you rather than across from you. His hand on your shoulder makes you look up, startled.
“Are you alright?” he says.
You don’t even know where to begin. “Why is everyone staring at me?”
“They’re not used to you. Anchor is a somewhat isolated community. New faces take some getting used to, they always do. We had a few new residents move in from Prismville not too long ago and it took some time for them to get settled in, but they’re part of the community now.”
“People move here?”
Bachman chuckles. “I don’t know what you think this place is, courier, but it’s nothing scary or sinister.”
You don’t believe him. You grew up in a place like this. The old Compass Hill went out of its way to look pretty and perfect, to build luxury shopping centers and expensive homes and beautified green spaces, so no one would notice how ugly it really was. “Then why have gates? Why keep people out?”
“For security. This is the only anchorware plant in the whole Drift. The chameleite mines rely on us, and so does the entire supply chain reliant on different chameleite tinges. So does Nelton’s processing plant. So does Compass Hill’s delicate infrastructure, and the entire University. This isn’t a responsibility we take lightly.” His gaze softens. He shifts closer, rubbing your arm. “I know it’s frustrating, especially for a courier. Gates and walls and things like that just get in the way. But sometimes they’re necessary. Anchorware isn’t some frivolous accessory. It’s the backbone of the Drift. We keep things normal. We don’t always get it right, but we’re constantly working on the technology, fixing mistakes and repairing anything that goes wrong—”
“I have to go,” you say hoarsely. You’re on your feet before he can stop you, hurrying back the way you came. Bachman trails behind, calling out to you. You ignore him. You walk faster. Jamie is where you left them with Dr. Gallagher, their expression more pinched and impatient than before. They look up when you approach, forced smile vanishing in an instant.
“We haven’t heard from Dr. Higgs senior in some time, but I understand she’s very busy with a new project,” Dr. Gallagher says, like you’re not even there. “It’s a shame, I’d hoped to offer her a position at the lab here. An absolutely brilliant woman, your mother, although your recent papers have really impressed me, too. We pay much better than the University, you know.”
“What’s wrong?” Jamie asks. You try to speak. All that comes out is a sob. “Excuse me, Dr. Gallagher, I have to step out for a moment.” He looks disappointed but Jamie doesn’t hesitate or look back. They wrap their hand around yours and squeeze, lacing your fingers together. You keep your gaze on Jamie’s back, the gray weave of their sweater. It’s the only safe place to rest your eyes. You feel people watching. You hear them whispering. Tears prick your eyes. By the time you’re back outside, you’re starting to cry.
Jamie stops just outside your car to wrap their arms around you, cradling your head against their shoulder. “I’m sorry,” they whisper. “I’m so sorry.”
“I don’t understand,” you croak. “It’s supposed to be here. Where is everyone? Where—?” You choke back a sob. This is a mistake. It has to be. You’re wrong, your heart is wrong, it’s all mixed up because of the tunnel. Maybe it’s further east, or maybe you just didn’t go far enough. You get in the car still sniffling and rubbing your eyes because you can’t bear to be here a second longer. There is someone stationed at the courier entrance. They do not hesitate to let you out, you notice, and the gates slam shut behind you.
You drive. Without cargo to deliver, without a destination in mind, without anything to guide you, you drive. The gates vanishes behind you. The iron fence disappears into the fog. The tug returns, beckoning you back to Anchor. You feel hopelessly lost. Jamie doesn’t say anything. You see them fidget, glancing at you and glancing away. You turn on the radio, desperate for noise and distraction. You don’t know what you’re going to do now. You don’t know how to deal with this crushing emptiness inside of you, a void in the pit of your stomach. You just drive.
“Maybe we should pull over somewhere for a bit,” Jamie says quietly. You nod, not really listening. Not sure of anything anymore, what you feel, what you want. “Just for a bit. Maybe stop for some food in the next town. Does that sound good?” You nod again reflexively. A sign passes. Jamie seems happy to see it. You nod at the next thing they say, whatever it is.
In the depths of your despair and your weariness, you’re only faintly, distantly aware of the terrain becoming familiar, forest fading to smalltown friendliness. You don’t recall why these faint, earthy scents stoke fear in the back of your mind. Incense, you think. Herbs and spices. Smoked meats.
You’re hungry, you realize. Hungrier than you have ever been before.

Which Warehouse Does Your Business Need?
Tumblr media
You need a warehouse.
You have pinpointed the most optimal location and finalised on all the high-tech equipment and machinery to function with ease, but how do you decide which warehouse building is best suited for your operations and functions? Let’s find out.
The Standard Warehouse
For operations that only need basic walls, a roof and some clear space, the standard warehouse is the way. These warehouses can be made in any size required and are extremely versatile.
It is possible to fit them with skylights and windows as well as with multiple gates, ramps and docks. They are a popular solution for almost every industry, providing storage for machines, raw materials and equipment, and products in production; serving as transshipment points in logistics; storing goods for retailers and wholesalers; acting as distribution centres for e-commerce; and even housing donations and relief supplies for non-profit organisations.
A standard warehouse can be easily adapted to specific equipment and spatial requirements by the warehouse developer and are extremely cost effective for businesses that require minimal retrofits to get going.
The Container Warehouse
This is a specific kind of storage warehouse is a stopover for goods coming or going from freight transport. These warehouses are used to consolidate or deconsolidate freight goods to prepare them for the next legs of their journey. Or in other words, it is a temporary storage for the goods to wait a little for other goods to come and fill a container up, before they can be shipped off. The challenge here is to have a system that allows storing, tracking and retrieving the goods easily and efficiently.
Container warehouses need to be located close to ports, airports, or major railway hubs. These warehouses can be designed for efficient cross-docking and provision can be made for ample parking space for holding trucks even in case of demand surges. These warehouses are also equipped with stacking racks, crane systems, container frames, floor anchors, proper lighting, and robust security systems.
The Open-Air Warehouse
For large and heavy items that are difficult to move in and out of warehouse dock doors, open-air warehouses provide an efficient storage solution. Custom-designed racks for open yard storage can offer protection from atmospheric elements and play a key role in keeping the goods safe. Typically, the warehouse is an open area with space demarked and fenced in with walls with a high level of security to safeguard the assets.
Depending on the sensitivity of the goods and the extremities of the climate, storage can be covered or partially roofed. Goods are also protected by covering them in plastic wraps or tarps. These warehouses are commonly used to store vehicles, spare parts, machines, and raw materials for construction, metalworks, or timber sectors. The design of open-air warehouses focuses on shielding goods from harsher natural elements like direct sun or snow but may not address milder elements like humidity, wind, dust, and temperature fluctuations.
The Industrial Warehouse
This is the modern-day factory which may span across multiple halls and floors and can be tailored to integrate advanced technology and equipment. The industrial warehouse can be designed to have spacious loading and unloading areas; ample space for machinery, equipment, goods, and workplaces; high ceilings and large doors for the transporting of goods and large machines, even indoors; bright administrative and office areas; parking spaces for delivery and staff vehicles; pleasant social and relaxation areas for the workers; strong load-bearing floors; a reliable energy supply and ventilation; independent lighting systems for each work area and fire protection measures like fire alarms, smoke detectors, and fire extinguishers.
These warehouses are especially popular for manufacturing companies, energy and utility companies and businesses in the food and beverage industry.
The Custom-Made Warehouse
When your business needs are too complex to be housed in a pre-made standard warehouse, you need a warehouse designed around your requirements. These are called built-to-suit warehouses. They provide a high degree of customisation and can be made to create the ideal environment needed for your operations and goods.
Need a cold storage with consistent temperature and humidity, immaculate hygiene and protected electrical circuits? It is possible. Need a chemical warehouse with good ventilation systems, fire containment measures and specialised storage? Also, possible. Retail warehouses with space for smart racking and processing machines, auto warehouses with complex assembly lines or heavy industry that need tall lifting equipment and sturdy densified floors, a custom-made warehouse lacks for nothing.
The Automated Warehouse
If you are a business that uses machines to do it all, then an automated warehouse is what you are looking at. These are computer-controlled environments with automated racking and shelving, conveyor and retrieval systems. While the investment cost is definitely high, the efficiency is unmatched. These warehouses are sought by large trading companies, global e-commerce giants, logistics parks in India and manufacturing behemoths.
At the end of the day, you know your business needs better than anybody. It is crucial thus, to find a warehouse developer who is proactive in understanding your functional requirements and who works with you to overcome any infrastructural challenges in a collaborative way. At Horizon Industrial Parks, our teams specialise in delivering custom-made warehouses as well as providing swift plug-and-play solutions that can get your operations running in no time. THE FIGHTER
Fenyx grew up in a small village not too far from the ruined city of Cimbar, Chessenta. From a young age, she idolised her older brother, Ligyron. Her first memories were of watching him haul timber and fencing and helping tend to their fields and orchards. Then cheering him on as he trained in the backyard with mannequins to fight alongside his trainer , watching him whirl and twist like he was made of breeze himself. Inspired by travelling bards, she spun stories of him, even moreso after he grew up and began work as a mercenary - telling her his stories of his victories and gains. Sometimes even bringing her home trinkets too which she treasured.
Ever since his first story of soldier life, Fenyx knew she wanted to be one too. Her poor agricultural talents only solidified to her that she was fated to follow in her brother's footsteps (despite her parents' worries). She started training by herself in the backyard, using the same trainer her brother had, but all the while writing letters and pleading with her brother to let her join his crew.
Eventually, towards the end of her eighteenth winter (after frightening her parents with a solo trip to Airspur to see the beautiful floating city), Ligyron relented and made her shield maiden of his crew. They would train her but she would sit back and remain out of their greater fights, though it didn't matter to Fenyx. She was finally achieving her dream! If she just trained hard enough then they would realise her talents and she could fight at her brother's side like she'd always wanted to.
The took their ship from the Cinbar coast, first to Westgate. She had been so excited to see a new city and perhaps get a new adventure, but instead was told to stay aboard the ship, that the city was too adventurous. Still, she passed the time training instead and was happy to get a bottle of wine from her brother and his crew when they returned with supplies and a little too much alcohol. She had tried to go out a little in the city, but after getting robbed of her mother's bracelet she decided to listen to her brother and return to the ship. They didn't stay in Westgate too long, heading out onto the treacherous road inland. Through the weeks they took on smaller contracts. Well, Ligyron and his friends did, but Fenyx spent all of her time practising her skills, so that soon the day would come that she could really prove herself and then join their adventuring team for sure - doing more than just cleaning and sharpening weapons and hunting for deer.
Things began to change, though, as their journey continued westward and they hear more stories of people being kidnapped. They were not the first band of adventurers set on finding out more, but Ligyron and Fenyx were determined to get to the bottom of it. Her brother focussed on the great reward for doing so as Fenyx thought more about reuniting distraught families with their loved ones. The more small errands and quests she had done for people, the more she had grown to love questing for the sake of helping. Sometimes the reward was the happy ending in itself - although that wouldn't fill her stomach, of course.
Though in search of that happy reunified ending, it was inevitable that they find themselves face to face with the kidnappers. Kidnappers they were nowhere near prepared for nor ever heard of before. Mindflayers. They fought well, but Fenyx became seperated from her brother during the fight. She remembered calling out to him frantically and then she was waking up trapped in a pod, staring down a squirming creature forced upon her, on a very nightmarish ship which then dramatically crashed - her mechanical wings found from a particularly intrincate dungeon, the only things to save her as she glided down to safety.
There, she met with other survivors of the crash determined to free herself from this squirming curse, find her brother and then make the long trip back home.

I’m the kid of farmers. My mom is very much a farmer’s wife. In my area, it’s understood to be a specific job with specific responsibilities that are similar, but not the same, as her husband’s, the farmer.
Dad does the most physically exhausting work. He manages the fields, he hauls the grain, he does upkeep on the tractors. He’ll be out in the fields for 12+ hours if he has to. When we had hogs, Dad was the one doing the majority of the work that required physically moving the pigs around or getting in the pen with them. He builds fences, cuts down timber, and fixes the roads.
Mom runs the finances. She takes care of the animals. She does the running to get the chemicals and the paperwork and the parts for repairs. She makes sure food is ready and waiting during the long days so Dad can eat and get back to work. She manages the homestead (which is the house, the buildings, and the pasturage nearest the house). She makes sure everything else runs smoothly so Dad can focus on AG. When we were kids she was the one coordinating all our schedules and getting us where we needed to go.
Here’s the thing. My sister is a farmer. Her work more closely aligns with Dad’s than Mom’s. Her husband, while still new to farming life, helps her mostly by managing her business, running errands, and picking up supplies. In our area we call him a “farmer’s husband”.

Finding Quality Timber and Fencing Supplies for Your Next Project
The use of timber supplies has long been a cornerstone of construction and landscaping projects. From sturdy beams for building frameworks to elegant wooden paneling for interiors, timber is a material celebrated for its versatility and aesthetic appeal. As sustainability becomes a major focus in construction, timber stands out as an eco-friendly option. Responsibly sourced timber not only reduces the carbon footprint of a project but also adds a natural charm that synthetic materials often fail to replicate.
For many, choosing the right timber is crucial. High-quality timber ensures durability, resistance to environmental conditions, and a polished appearance that enhances any project. Whether you’re constructing a deck, designing an outdoor structure, or renovating a home, the importance of sourcing reliable timber supplies cannot be overstated.
Fencing Supplies: The Backbone of Outdoor Boundaries
Outdoor spaces are as important as interiors, and well-designed fencing plays a pivotal role in defining and protecting these areas. The demand for robust fencing supplies has grown as more homeowners and businesses seek solutions that combine functionality with aesthetics. Fencing not only marks property boundaries but also provides security, privacy, and a touch of style to outdoor areas.
Selecting the right fencing materials involves understanding the specific needs of your space. For example, timber fencing is a popular choice for its natural appearance and adaptability to various designs. Whether you’re constructing a rustic picket fence or a sleek modern boundary, high-quality fencing supplies ensure longevity and structural integrity.
Choosing the Right Timber Supplies for Your Project
Selecting the appropriate timber supplies for a project begins with understanding the intended use. Softwoods like pine are ideal for indoor applications or temporary structures, while hardwoods such as oak or teak are better suited for long-term, heavy-duty use. Treated timber is often the best choice for outdoor projects, as it resists rot, pests, and weather-related damage.
Another critical factor to consider is the grading of the timber. Structural-grade timber guarantees the strength and reliability needed for construction, while appearance-grade timber focuses on visual appeal. Combining these two types can lead to a result that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
Sustainability is also an essential consideration. Reputable suppliers often provide certifications indicating that their timber is sourced responsibly. Choosing sustainable timber supplies not only supports the environment but also ensures high-quality materials for your project.
The Versatility of Fencing Supplies for Custom Designs
No two outdoor spaces are alike, and the versatility of fencing supplies allows for tailored solutions that meet varying requirements. Wooden fencing, for instance, can be painted, stained, or left in its natural state to blend seamlessly with the surrounding environment.
In addition to traditional timber fencing, many homeowners are exploring composite and hybrid options. These materials often combine the beauty of wood with the durability of synthetic components, requiring less maintenance over time. However, timber remains a favorite for those seeking a classic, timeless look.
When choosing fencing supplies, it’s also important to consider hardware and accessories. Durable posts, brackets, and fasteners are essential for the stability and functionality of any fencing system. Investing in high-quality materials from the start ensures that your fence will stand the test of time.
Maintaining and Enhancing Your Timber and Fencing Investments
The longevity of timber supplies and fencing supplies depends heavily on proper maintenance. Outdoor timber and fences are exposed to weather conditions that can cause wear over time. Regular cleaning, sealing, and inspection are key to preserving their appearance and strength.
Using weather-resistant finishes or stains can enhance the natural beauty of timber while protecting it from UV rays and moisture. For fences, ensure that posts are securely anchored and that any damage, such as cracks or warping, is addressed promptly. With consistent care, both timber and fences can retain their functionality and charm for years to come.

Timber Supplies in Melbourne- How to Find High-Quality Wood for Your Projects
Since ancient times, timber supplies in Melbourne have been used extensively in architecture and construction due to its adaptability, toughness, and inherent beauty. Understanding the alternatives and suppliers available may make all the difference in getting the intended outcomes, whether you're a construction worker, renovator, or do-it-yourself enthusiast.
Tumblr media
Many people view picket fencing in Melbourne as "classic" designs. It's the kind of fence we see in television shows and movies, and it symbolizes the kind of residential charm that would draw in a lot of onlookers. A well-kept picket fence around your house gives the impression that it is more attractive and inviting at first glance.
Permits Privacy Without Obstructing Views
One of the most important things that any homeowner needs is privacy. Top Trends in Fence Cladding: Elevate Your Yard’s Aesthetic
Tumblr media
When it comes to enhancing the beauty and functionality of your outdoor space, fence cladding plays a crucial role. Not only does it define the boundaries of your yard, but it also contributes significantly to your property’s overall aesthetic. In this post, we'll explore the top trends in fence cladding, particularly focusing on timber options that are popular in the UK.
Natural Timber Boarding
One of the most sought-after trends in fence cladding is the use of natural timber boarding. Homeowners are increasingly drawn to the warmth and organic appeal of wood. Timber boarding offers a rustic charm that can complement any garden style, from contemporary to traditional. When sourcing timber, visiting a reputable timber store in the UK can provide you with high-quality options that suit your design vision.
Horizontal Slats
Horizontal slat fencing is gaining popularity for its modern, sleek look. This design trend emphasizes clean lines and can create a visually striking effect in your yard. Horizontal timber boarding can also enhance the perception of space, making smaller yards feel more expansive. Many homeowners appreciate the flexibility this style offers, allowing for various spacing between slats to create the desired level of privacy.

Composite Materials
For those seeking a more sustainable option, composite materials made from recycled timber and plastic are becoming increasingly popular. These materials provide the look of wood without the maintenance issues associated with natural timber. They are durable, resistant to pests, and available in various colors and textures. When considering timber supplies, be sure to explore composite options that align with your sustainability goals.
Vertical Panels with Decorative Elements
Incorporating decorative elements into vertical panels is another trend that adds a unique touch to fencing. Homeowners are exploring various patterns, colors, and finishes to make their fencing stand out. This trend allows for personalization, turning an ordinary fence into a statement piece. Pairing timber with metal accents or paint can further enhance the aesthetic appeal.
Living Fences
A growing trend in landscaping is the use of living fences, which blend timber boarding with greenery. By combining timber with climbing plants or hedges, you create a beautiful natural barrier that enhances privacy while adding visual interest. This approach promotes biodiversity and contributes to a more environmentally friendly yard.
