𝐌𝐘 𝐅𝐎𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐕𝐄𝐋 𝐌𝐄𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐘
𝙲𝚑𝚘𝚌𝚘𝚕𝚊𝚝𝚎 𝙷𝚒𝚕𝚕𝚜 𝚘𝚏 𝙱𝚞𝚕𝚊𝚌𝚊𝚗: 𝚃𝚑𝚎 𝚃𝚒𝚕𝚊 𝙿𝚒𝚕𝚘𝚗 𝙷𝚒𝚕𝚕𝚜
It's almost been three years since quarantine happened due to a pandemic and I know that most of us are itching to travel again to unwind and somehow forget how stressful the situation is. However, some popular tourist destinations here in the Philippines require a lot of New Normal requirements for us to be able to enter the place.
𝚂𝚘𝚖𝚎 𝚘𝚏 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚛𝚎𝚚𝚞𝚒𝚛𝚎𝚖𝚎𝚗𝚝𝚜 𝚊𝚛𝚎:
• Tourist QR Code and copy of your Health Declaration Card
• Medical Certificate issued by a government physician
• Negative RT-PCR Test
• Valid company ID/certificate of employment, and travel or mission order
Just looking at the list of requirements, you'll probably know that it requires a huge amount of money before arriving at your desired destination. Since we are still in the middle of the pandemic, money must be valued by anyone and each of us seek affordable goods. Therefore, if you live near the Province of Bulacan, it would be a great opportunity for you! Wanna know why? The reason is, there's a bunch of hidden tourist destinations here in Bulacan and I will share one of those to you---let me narrate my lovely experiences behind this trip!
I would like to introduce to you the Tila Pilon--the Chocolate Hills of Bulacan. It is located at Doña Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan. The estimated time of travel from Manila to Tila Pilon Hills is approximately two (2) and a half hours. These Hills serve as a budget friendly destination to those who want to visit Chocolate Hills of Bohol but do not have enough money to buy a flight ticket like me and my friends.
Tila Pilon Hills entrance fee is PHP 20.00. Tour guides are also mandatory for this place which is worth a fee of PHP 300.00 and they guide our group going to the top of the Hills; I am sure that they will be the one who will assist your group too if you visit the destination. The hike starts on a garden-like trail where there is a plantation of various crops and vegetables on the side of the Hills. Most of the trail was flat and had different muddy portions. Sometimes the path is a mix of easy, beginner-friendly descents and ascents. While we are taking our walk up to the Hill, we see different fruit trees surrounding the place, but of course tour guides would not let us pick any of those so it won't become a habit. And taking a few more steps we passed a road where patrols were; they are the personnel who checks if everything is fine and they also check and confirm the number of visitors the guide has under his/her care. Aside from that, a sari-sari store and several houses are visible in the place.
After 30-40 minutes of trekking, we've finally able to reach the summit and see the grassy knolls of Tila Pilon Hills. Scenic view definitely gave us a refreshing feeling and the idea that we are walking side-by-side with nature; a blissfulness, indeed. Note that you must bring a camera or at least a powerbank for your phone to capture every single detail of the place like what we did. Besides, there are instagrammable props in the area and camping with your loved ones is also allowed.
In addition to this, you can also visit Talon Pari Falls (with minimal fees) because it's just 5 kilometer away from Tila Pilon. But that time, we focused on enjoying the Hills. So, we might go back and try visiting Talon Pari Falls. Thus, what are you waiting for? I hope we will see each other there!
As the day ended, a curve on my lips formed.

Incredible views by capturing

Tila Pilon Hills, along with other DRT attractions, were opened to the public and became well-known. Because of its proximity to the popular Biak-Na-Bato National Park in San Miguel, Bulacan, tourism in DRT has been steadily increasing in comparison to its neighboring area, with more Metro travelers noticing this easily accessible destination. Back then, I found that Bulacan travelers were the only ones who knew about this then-hidden gem in the province's northern gateway.

On the other side of the highway, the trail continues. Mild ascents follow from here. As a result, some trails became obstructed, prompting residents to create alternate routes. I was truly savoring this almost-forgotten but familiar sensation of walking alongside nature. Naturally, because I moved at a faster pace than the others, I had to wait for them and make short stops.

The summit offers a 360-degree panorama of the surrounding area, with the eastern and western views being the most prominent. Mt. Mabio, to my southwest, loomed large over the entire scene. A prominent two-pointed peak, Mt. Susong Dalaga, can be seen to the right. Mt. Arayat and the Zambales Mountain range, including Mt. Pinatubo, can be seen from afar beyond those mountains.

Talon Pari isn't a big, high waterfall like those found in other mountains. This is a simple waterfall where visitors can sit on the rocky slopes of the falls; the river where the water falls is at least 5 to 6 feet deep. We took advantage of the opportunity to sit on the rocky slopes of the falls and let the heavy flow of water massage our backs.
Tila Pilon was nothing like Digo's Hills. There was no hiking involved since the summit served as the parking area. The location is simply a plateau where the property's caretaker lives and has set up some picnic tables, a sari-sari shop turned cafe, and some makeshift photo spots made of wood. It was a simple landmark, but it provided a fantastic vantage point for viewing the mountains. We spent 250PHP there on talbak coffee grounds. I took advantage of the opportunity to take in the view, with Mt. Mabio almost in front of us, while they were shopping. On the other side of the mountain, Mt. Silad's imposing presence can be seen. Tila Pilon was also spotted from this place! Mt. Arayat can be seen directly across from it, and to its far left, I spotted Mt. Natib and Mt. Mariveles in Bataan.
This is the place that once you visit you can't forget to come back because of the good memories that DRT brings to you, and also this is the place where you can be happy with not only family but also friends and other acquaintances.

Tila Pilon Hills
Tumblr media
