fic idea from 2020 that the paris special unearthed from the archives of my brain:

So far, there wasn’t a single thing about this new reality that wasn’t terrible. She was grounded, for some reason, which she didn’t know about, and was therefore double grounded for breaking the rules of the grounding. Which she hadn’t known about!

To make matters worse, when she’d gone to text Alya to complain about the unfairness of it all, she realized she didn’t have Alya’s number. In fact, she didn’t have anyone’s number except her parents, Nadja Chamack, her grandmother, and someone called The Supreme.

She next turned to Tikki to vent, but when she checked her (admittedly cool) purse, she found her kwami wide-eyed, terrified, and most horrifiyingly, muzzled—which Marinette couldn’t figure out a way to undo. 

So she was stuck in the bakery on a Saturday morning with angry parents and no one to talk to and no ideas on how to get out of the worst version of Paris possible.

Which is when Adrien Agreste’s bodyguard walked in. Brief hope flared in her heart before extinguishing just as quickly when she saw he was alone.

Which she should’ve expected. With how awful this world was, she wouldn’t be surprised if Adrien didn’t even exist here. She couldn’t imagine a world this awful with him in it.

She bagged up the Gorilla’s order with a heavy heart and sent him on his way before looking out the bakery display window with a sigh.

Only to spot Adrien Agreste himself, with an asymmetrical haircut and thick kohl around his eyes, staring back at her. He was different than her Adrien—and she couldn’t say she was a fan of the hair—but he was just as handsome, and his eyes even more striking with the eyeliner.

When he noticed her looking, his eyes widened and his cheeks started to turn pink.

Was he blushing?

Marinette could feel her own cheeks heating up as he stared. She ventured a small, embarrassed wave, and he—he!—

He lifted his own hand, brought it to his lips, and blew her a kiss.

Crash!

Marinette, along with about 300 macarons, toppled to the floor.

“Good morning, Marinette!” said Adrien Agreste, during a time that was decidedly morning but far too early to be described as ‘good.’ 

She scowled at him.

“Girl, you okay?” said Alya Césaire, who was—who was speaking to her.

Right.

Alya Césaire was speaking to her. Because Alya Césaire, Hesperia’s favorite lackey, was apparently Marinette’s best friend.

And Adrien Agreste was the boy Marinette was in love with.

She plastered a smile on her face. “I’m great, Alya! Super dee duper. Absolutely swell. What a beautiful morning with all the sunshine and the…. morning.”

Alya looked unconvinced.

“And the Adriens!” Marinette added hastily. “I mean, the Adrien. Because there’s only one Adrien and he sure is… here. Hello Adrien! Your face is looking very attractive this morning, because you are an attractive person. And that’s… something positive I can say about you.”

“Thanks, Marinette!” said Adrien with a dopey little smile. She wasn’t sure if he was mocking her or just deeply stupid. If her diary entries were to be believed, it was probably the latter. “Your face is looking attractive this morning as well. Did you do something new with your makeup?”

Marinette had done her makeup the same way she did every day, but she supposed his Marinette opted for a boring girl next door ‘no makeup makeup’ look.

Alya squealed next to her before giving her shoulder an excited squeeze.

Marinette took several deep breaths.

“Yes, I thought I’d try something new.”

Adrien smiled and nodded.

Alya shoved her forward.

Marinette barely managed to restrain herself from sending Alya a patented Toxinelle Death Glare. Instead, she smiled wider at Adrien.

Her cheeks hurt.

“Thank you soooooo much for noticing my makeup. That is a thing I am excited about. I love putting on makeup to impress cute boys, tee hee!”

Adrien’s face fell. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to imply—I know you always dress for you, Marinette! That’s something I really admire about you.”

His eyes were so earnest, so sincere, and for a second, she almost—

Marinette cleared her throat. “That’s so nice! You can leave now.”

Adrien blinked. 

“Bye!” She shooed him.

“Oh, um, bye Marinette,” he said with a sheepish wave, and then he left.

Nailed it.

“Girl, what the actual fuck?”

am I the only one who can't watch Miraculous the same way anymore after the London special? like I can't even think about Miraculous without feeling a wave of sadness hit me in the face.

I was trying to watch Origins, then re-watch the whole show, just to enjoy the old animation one last time. but I just couldn't.

all I saw was Marinette's numb expression as she walked through the hallway. Adrien's cries as he grieved his father. Gabriel's wish ruining everything.

it's not the same anymore, and it never will. that's how I know they nailed it with this special.

when I got to the part when Marinette renounced Tikki, all I could think about was that current timeline!Marinette would be there to fetch the earrings, and that Tikki knew everything from the start. and whenever Adrien was on screen, I thought about how sad he would become soon. he still had that sassy humor and all, but it disappeared over time. I had forgotten how snarky he used to be...

I am both excited and terrified of the upcoming season. let's hope it's a good one.

Luka is Sun-Coded, Why the Snake has Time-Related Powers, and What the Future Might Hold for His Character

There’s been some back and forth whether Luka is represented by the sun or the moon, with most people seemingly on the side of him being moon-coded.

I have to disagree. More below the cut.

The name Luka is usually translated as “bringer of light.” This is of course the most common translation of his name. In This post, it’s explained that his name is also a Serbo-Croatian word for harbor or port. (Another win for my “the Couffaines are Balkan-Romani" headcanon).

I would also like to point out his hero name, Viperion, is a portmanteau of Viper and Hyperion. Hyperion was a Greek Titan, and along with his son Helios, was a personification of the sun. Sometimes the two Solar deities were conflated. It has also been suggested that the name Hyperion actually reads as “Apollo,” another Greek solar god. In fact, Apollo’s name has been suggested that it should be read as Hyperion. Also, Apollo famously has a younger twin sister, Artemis, a lunar goddess. Hyperion’s name translates to “He who goes before,” which is an apt name for Luka’s hero form.

Famous romantic poet John Keats wrote two unfinished epics on the subject of Hyperion. The second poem he wrote, titled The Fall of Hyperion: A Dream, was published after his death. It is a prequel to his first poem about Hyperion. The prequel is about his personal quest for truth and understanding. More on the topic of truth later on in this essay.

On a more scientific note, the theorized massive star that went supernova and created the our solar system is often called Coatlicue, who was the mother of the Sun in Aztec mythology. She is depicted as a woman wearing a skirt of snakes, and even her name translates to [she who has] the skirt of snakes. An aspect of this goddess was known as “snake woman”, and she was considered a very motherly figure.

Anarka went supernova and destroyed her music career and relationship with Jagged after she fell pregnant. Luckily, she built a wonderful new life for her twins, and The Liberty is a safe harbor for them and all their friends, just like our Sun and solar system. Remember, Luka can also be translated as harbor.

It’s also worth noting that one of Saturn’s moons is named Hyperion. Yes, I know, a moon, but hear me out. Hyperion’s orbit is extremely chaotic, and unpredictable, a quality that is needed in order to end time loops. I had a lovely dialogue with another person on the implications of that in the notes in this post.

Now onto part two: Why the Snake Miraculous has time related powers. It has been suggested by fans that we don’t need two time-related Miraculous, and Snakes are mythologically healers (Think Hermes and his caduceus), so the Snake should have healing powers. It’s a compelling argument, but I disagree.

I’ve touched on this topic before, but it bears repeating. There is a misconception that Wayzz was originally the leader of the Kwamis, and Sass was retconned to be leader at a later date. This is untrue. For one, Kwamis cannot leave the Miracle Box without an owner, so Sass is stuck in there with the rest of the Kwamis. Secondly, in season 2’s Sandboy, the episode where we meet the rest of the Kwamis, Sass is the one calling all the shots. Tikki and Plagg even defer to him. Furthermore, Wayzz was chosen by Master Fu because his power is Protection. Narratively, it makes more sense for an un-evolved character who is terrified of his past choices to choose the power of Protection, as opposed to Sass’ power of learning from past mistakes, and change through choice.

I dare say that they made a point of Marinette wearing the Turtle Miraculous in the season 5 finale due to a planned character arc. I predict this character arc is one where she learns to not be so overprotective of Adrien, or one where she needs to learn to accept the help of others and not put up such a shell and be so controlling. Or both, even.

Anyway, back to Snakes. I made a previous post about how the main three kwamis, Tikki, Plagg, and Sass are a reference to (a very simplified) Hinduism, with Tikki being Brahma (god of creation), Plagg as Shiva (god of destruction), and Sass as Vishnu (god of preservation). Shiva and Vishnu are both symbolized by snakes, but I think it’s important to note that one of Vishnu’s mounts is Shesha, a primordial snake deity of creation. It is said that when Shesha uncoils, time moves forward and creation takes place; when he coils back, the universe ceases to exist. Shesha’s name translates to “he who remains”, as even when the world is destroyed, Shesha remains as he is. It doesn’t take much thought to see how this relates to the Snake Miraculous and the power of Second Chance.

I had originally theorized that Second Chance erases the entire universe in order to reset, but the Paris Special brought the concept of a multiverse, and simple logic declared this untrue. No, I believe that Second Chance erases EVERY multiverse. Terrifying stuff.

And of course, there is the Snake Miraculous’ bracelet form of a serpent biting its own tail, an Ourobos. Ourobos is a symbol used all over the ancient world to represent various things, most notably of cycles, such as life, death, and rebirth. This feels like the most obvious reason for the Snake to have Second Chance.

Of course, we cannot ignore the elephant in the room… or the snake that swallowed the elephant a la the python in the beginnings of famous French novella The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. The dominant religion in most of the western world is Christianity, and snakes have a reputation for being evil. But I think there’s more to the story ML is presenting to us.

In the season 5 finale, we are presented with a perfect utopia, an Eden, if you will. We can all agree this is not going to last, and all the glitter is not gold. Maribug’s web of lies, Lilamoth knowing the Truth, Adrichat being left in the dark. It will all come undone sooner or later.

Which is why I propose that it is Luka who helps Adrien discover the Truth. There are some academics who believe humanity wasn’t truly born until Eve tasted the forbidden fruit of knowledge and left the Garden of Eden. It’s very poetic that a Snake named Light would present Adrien with the Truth. Remember Keats’ epic poem Hyperion about searching for Truth.

And of course, it needs to be reminded that Ladybug’s Lucky Charm CANNOT bring back a sentimonster after the amok is purified or destroyed. But you know what CAN bring back a sentimonster? The Snake’s Second Chance. Adrien and Luka have unlimited chances to figure out how to sever the connection between Adrien and his amoks.

Remember also, the point of Second Chance is to end the time loop. This all goes hand in hand with my theory that ML is a 15-year time loop of Wishes, and Gabriel made at least one, if not multiple Wishes in the past.

Of course I could be completely off the mark and they made Luka a Guardian for no reason, and Adrien will never amount to anything other than being Ken to Maribug’s Barbie.

Still on a Bugettes au kick, decided to dabble into ideas of the rainbow fairies (working off that for the Bugettes, they were known as fairies; which hey, if kwamis appear, this way the bugs can be their own thing). For the canon bugs, expect some slightly altered personalities, and changed up lore set up to work off this concept (like this is Europe's magical beings that make heroes).

Btw, all of these will work off Tikki's base concept art, as she's the easiest to do edits on.

Rainbow Fairies: Longg the Blue Dragonfly

Longg is regal, wise, and formal. He is a fairy who feels like he's always living right before something momentous and anticipates seeing the storm flourish. Tied to the color blue, Longg is known to be loyal, confident, reliable, and soothing. He can be a bit of a rambler, but he just has thoughts he likes to share, which many humans find to be ironic given dragonflies often live in a rush.

As a slight echo of dragons, Longg sees humans as his "hoard", he likes to see what they create, what they do next; they are a turbulence of unpredictability and he likes to be surprised. What they do is always new. So when there's a threat to humanity as a whole, he will bring the storm to combat it. There are a few times Longg will act on his own and without a human, but he's done so less as he's terrified many humans with his power, and has been rather reckless. It was to a point that when the fairies were more known, he had the most infamous reputation for the damage he could cause. He always felt guilty about it.

In terms of romance, Longg has no personal opinion on the matter. He can view it as a distraction, but he has also seen it's strength. Personally, he just stays out of it. Humans will do as humans do. They usually sort it out themselves or move on.

Longg likes to encourage humans to live up to their own potential, seeing the greatness that they could be, but often finds most humans hold themselves back. As an echo of blue, he likes to encourage humans to be trusting, to be loyal, to be calm, and to live with integrity. To use their potential for greatness, for nothing is greater than to soar as a hero and come to defense of others.

As Longg embodies the coming of change, he likes to pick humans who are in need or have a desire of change. That something as they are is an issue, something that holds them back from who they are meant to be. He takes a lot of pride in having the chance to be a mentor to those in need of guidance, even if there's a struggle as they dip and fall, he has confidence that every human will be able to soar, and he shall fly right beside them.

Now Miraculous fans, here me out:

Kwamis, but they’re eldritch horrors.

I mean some real terrifying shit — biblically accurate angels, wendigo, some uncanny valley, or that unnerving stuff you get when you search up dream core on pinterest. They’re ancient gods, basically. Make them horrifying, or at the very least regally monstrous.

Or make them divine and revered, maybe they’d have more then one form: a pocket sized Kwami form, as per canon; a godly ‘true’ form, something similar to the Plagg and Tikki true forms in the s5 finale; an animalistic form, based upon whatever creature they guard; and their horror form, born out of true rage or malice or even fear.

"Of course you don't have a choice in loving Chat Noir," Tikki reassured with a smile, "It's not like he had a choice in whether or not he loves you either!"

Marinette turned to face her kwami. Her voice came out shaky, almost in pieces.

"...What?"

"Oh, Marinette. Nobody has a choice in these things, especially not you." Tikki's face fell out of its warm expression, if only for the smallest fraction of a second, and Marinette was terrified to find that behind it all, Tikki's eyes were cold and dark. "He loves you because you have the earrings, Marinette. Do you really think it'd ever happen without me?"

"-But he doesn't— I haven't-"

"It doesn't matter that he doesn't know. None of that matters," Tikki clarified. The kwami went up to caress her holder's cheek. "All that matters is that you two are going to get your happy ending one day, okay? Just like I promised you."

Had she ever asked for it?

Chloe Bourgeois has it all. She's a hero alongside her idol Ladybug, she's becoming a better person and the class is friendlier with her. And most important of all to her, her parents are actually trying to be better parents; taking interest in what she actually wants to do with her life.

Then all of a sudden her entire life crumbles arounds her after a horrific accident at the hands of a beast leaves her as an undead vampiric creature with the power of compulsion. Chloe retreats to a castle of a tyrant long gone to live in, and desperately cling to what true signs of life she has left. However as time goes on, an hunger begins to take over Chloe, resulting in her mental health and immense power spiralling out of control.

Vowing to help Chloe with her situation and maintain her sanity, are her brothers Felix and Adrien. Her girlfriend Kagami. and her friends Pollen, Bunnyx, Sabrina, Luka, Alix, and Lila. By getting her out to galas, plays and operas. With Bunnyx taking her to multiple points in history to help her still indludge in her passion for history. Even if it results in the occasional problem, like accidentally leaving her in the reign of the tyrrancial Darkblade.

All the while, Hawkmoth, secret societies, cults, corrupt politicians and other villains alike are desperate to get their hands on the power of compulsion via any means they deem necessary. Even if results in putting people Chloe cares about in danger.

Has multiple references to the War of the Roses/Tudors, fashion I like and different bits of media.

You are here to slay her-

A Slay the Princess au of my Unworldly Compulsion and Consumption au. Think of it as a sort of bad ending, but not really.

Unbeknownst to all, Chloe has seemingly disappeared. Deciding that she is losing control, Chloe returned to the kingdom that once tried to execute her. Unable to execute her, they decide to imprison her. After finding out the truth, Kagami vows to venture out and bring back Chloe.

Hawkmoth finally also figuring that Chloe is the girl that keeps ruining all his akumas, he decides to akumatise Kagami to convince her to slay Chloe once and for all. Thus begins the cycle, with Chloe and Kagami unable to slay each other. With the Kwami taking on the role of the voices.

Featuring Kagami as the Long Quiet. Chloe as the Princess. Hawkmoth as the narrator. Pollen as the Voice of the Hero. Soren as the voice of the skeptic. Nooroo as the voice of the broken and Paranoid. Plagg as the voice of the opportunist. Trixx as the voice of the Contrarian. Tikki as the voice of the stubborn. Duusu as the voice of the cheated. Wayzz as the voice of the hunted.

An All Consuming Cruelty-

A companion fanfiction to Unworldly Compulsion and Consumption, due to the vampiric Chloe’s. As well as other themes such like portraits as symbols for power. Though they are under different circumstances.

Chloe finds the miraculous of a kwamii long forgotten by time. However it is not one that can be called kind. Instead it is the kwamii of consumption and cruelty. The gemstone it was tethered to was cut into multiple gems and placed into different pieces of jewellery, as a protective measure. However at some point a careless decision was made resulting in all pieces of jewellery being put together in the same box.

Upon finally being freed, it takes the chance to gain the power it once held, by possessing Chloe. Once it has done so, it takes the chance to consume all in its path. Even if it means consuming the flesh of akumas, sentimonsters and humans.

After being alerted by Audrey’s change from being horrible and loud, to terrified and quiet. It is up to Ladybug, Chat Noir and Hawkmoth to stop the kwamii. Though with the clock ticking and time against them, will they be able to do it and save Chloe?

Such a Noble Sacrifice, You Say?

Sacrifice.

Chloe may be only 15, but she understands that word very well by now.

Her parents are her leading example of course. Both have devoted themselves to their work and sacrificed a lot to do so. Valuable minutes of their lives. Their social skills and relationships, as well as their health. Especially after being involved in a car crash when she was younger. Leaving them with multiple health issues, becoming even more reclusive as a result. They may try to hide it, but Chloe knows neither of them are truly happy.

When the akumas start and she is no longer able to use the bee miraculous, Chloe has had enough, so seeks out alternative methods of protecting those she cares for. Coming across a kwamii that offers her the power of Sacrifice and Devotion. Thus Chloe devotes herself to trying to help the heroes and those she loves. Gaining her hero nickname of “The Princess”. Though things begin to get dangerous very quickly.

After all, sacrifice and devotion can quickly turn to sycophantic zealotry if left unchecked for too long.

After all, some secrets aren’t so secret. And some people know much more then they’re willing to admit.

After the events of Heroes day, Chloe is informed by Ladybug and Chat Noir that she will no longer be allowed to wield the bee miraculous.

However upon opening an ancient tome, she comes into contact with the being only known as Null. To which he tells her there’s more magic than just miraculous and Kwamii. And well Chloe wants to know it all; become the person she wants to be and escape from her mother’s shadow.

So with Null’s guidance, Chloe sets forth to learn magic unknown and become a mage. Although it’s not easy, as the magic she now yearns for is not only a lot different from the miraculous, but dangerous as well.

Features a magic system heavily inspired by Skyrim. With elements of Bloodborne, Dark Souls, magical girl shows and Youjo Senki.

Greetings Traveller, You Must be Weary-

Years later, Gabriel barely escapes to Dark Souls, after a fight with the heroes. Now the heroes must wander through the land to find him. Taking Chloe, now named Seraphina, with them for any help they can get. All the while Chat Noir struggles to tell Chloe who she really is.

Why, he abandons baby Chloe in the world of Yharnam, to see if she can survive or not. It’s not like her parents will miss their own baby, right? Either way, he watches from the shadows every year or so, to see that his experiment is continuing to be successful.

At least it was going successfully, until Ladybug and Chat Noir get there. Then all hell breaks loose.

The Girl in the House-

Instead of Gabriel Agreste being Hawkmoth, it is Audrey Bourgeois wielding both the butterfly and peacock miraculous. Her goal is to get the Ladybug and Cat miraculous in order to relieve her husband of his illness and prevent future members of her family from suffering from it.

Chloe Bourgeois slowly retreats from her bitchy queen bee persona, as her father becomes more ill and her mother becomes more consumed by her work. Leading her to baking and gardening to work through her emotions. This intrigues Kagami Tsuguri, who is determined to learn the reason as to why she's changed.

Such Fickle Things (A miraculous rewrite)-

Gabriel Agreste, using the butterfly miraculous, takes on the persona of Dague Noire, a mysterious unseen criminal to get the ladybug and cat miraculous.

After numerous unsuccesful attempts, Chloe Bourgeois reveals her identity enabling him to get ahold of the bee miraculous. Now with a new plan, he blackmails Chloe into working with him, while holding her parents lives over her head.

With the help of her close friends, Adrien, Sabrina and a new family member in Pollen, Chloe is able to double cross Dague Noire and help the heroes in the hopes of stopping him.

So she reluctantly forms an alliance with Rena to beat some sense into everyone else. All while discovering neither her or Zoe exist in this timeline.

brainrot over mlb again someone has probably already done this, sorry if that's true. also pre-emptive warning for intentional unhealthy dynamics but anyway: standard kwamiswap AU with Marinette getting Plagg and Adrien getting Tikki But along with this, it also posits that Marinette has always been "unlucky", and Adrien has always been "lucky". The AU then focuses on playing with the idea of this, making you suspect it's untrue, but then worry it really is true, exploring the implications of it, questioning if "destiny" is real or not, pointing out that sometimes "luck" is subjective, etc, etc. It's now specified that the bakery is struggling and Marinette's kinda poor, and she often kind of feels paranoid it's her fault (even though her parents have never actually told her this), or at least that they'd do better if it wasn't for her. They also often have less time and energy for her as a result of having to work harder to keep above water, which she unfortunately sometimes can't help but take the wrong way. Her misfortune also is what feeds into her need to plan everything, know people's schedules, and generally be a people pleaser. And with it cutting into funding for her fashion hobbies, and with her receiving less positive reinforcement and attention in the first place, she's just... generally sadder and less fulfilled than canon. Adrien meanwhile still lost his mom, but it's the standard "happened right after you got mad and wanted something bad to happen" setup, and now it's another part of why he's always so nice to people, because part of him is still subconsciously worried that he actually *can* influence bad things to happen to people just by hoping for it. Which has also progressed into a general recurrent anxiety over his lifestyle in general, and a fear that being rich at all is depriving and harming others. I also feel like they have altered hero personas and dynamics as a result of all this too Like Lady Noir steadily becomes kind of a show off, previously starved for praise and attention, and has somewhat more of a temper and a mean streak, due to using Lady Noir to unbottle her frustrations with her life. She also kinda resents Mr. Bug (btw, my placeholder rename for him is Scarlet) at first out of envy, especially because at first she kinda feels hurt and insulted by the idea of now having to be the "destructive" hero of "misfortune". Which progresses into a tsundere kinda deal where she's in love, but would rather explode than admit it (in part because she's terrified that if she admits to it and acts on it, she'll just fuck it up anyway) Scarlet still jokes and quips, but Lady Noir's increased volatility kinda taught him to back off early on, and the vibe is more like "concerned for her/trying to cheer her up" than "in love with her". He's also more pacifistic than Chat, and generally a bit more cautious and not as outwardly carefree about heroism in general, because of his increased anxiety about not wanting to make anyone suffer. It's honestly kinda toxic at first, because Lady Noir starts taking the lead (specifically *Scarlet's* idea in the first place, to try and help her loosen up and feel more confident), only for this to kinda backfire on Scarlet, because she becomes kind of bossy and starts blaming him when things go wrong, to protect her own ego. Then, the civilian relationship's also changed in a way that contrasts it. This version of Marinette is... technically into Adrien, but not pursuing or even properly realizing it, because she's so deeply convinced she doesn't deserve him that she represses the hell out of it. But Adrien kinda compensates, because he still feels a similar compulsion to try to cheer her up as Marinette too, especially because Chloe's mean to her, so that makes him feel indirectly guilty because he's Chloe's friend

So the civilian dynamic, ironically, is that they bond much faster, and Marinette follows him around like a meek, docile, undyingly loyal puppy, and will do *anything* he says. But it's *still* kinda unhealthy this way too, even though he's always nice to her. She gets it in her head that he's the only one who can "cancel out" her bad luck, making her get needier and clingier (while also being guilty about it, but not able to stop) And meanwhile, he gets kinda overprotective and smothery, while being the first one to get feelings for her. Partly because caring for her is something he chose for himself, and gives him a sense of actual purpose, compared to his disillusionment with his other responsibilities, partly because she makes him feel special for more than just his status or the stuff he has. So yeah, it DOES all get better, but it's Definitely a "gets worse before it gets better" kinda thing (at the very least, there comes a point where realizing that she's kinda being like Chloe is enough to snap Lady Noir out of the way she treats Scarlet)

WIP TITLES

So I'm kind of cheating a bit with my choices here I guess since I have a lot of ideas but not so many actual active WiPs. So some of these aren't actually stuff that has been posted (or not posted in fic form) but they're all what my rodent brain is rotating right now.

Bell the Cat - Ladyblanc Knight AU. Enemies to Reluctant Allies to Lovers. Plenty of angst and trauma to be had in this one!

2. Sad Machine - Not currently available. I'm attempting aiming to have the fic more or less completed before I start posting. Futurist/Cyberpunk-type AU. No Miraculous but there's a dash of vigilantism and mysterious happenings to solve. And some questionable ethics (thanks Gabe).

3. Porceline Girl - Emonette and Badrien (post Paris Special) Oneshot that I'm hoping to finish soon. They're just angsty teens trying to figure out what is love how to be around each other.

4. Kaleidoscope - (not currently a posted fic so link leads to my tumblr tag) Kwami Swap AU with a dose of amnesia! Love Square is a mess in this with a Reunioned Ghostbug trying to solve all the problems. Adrien needs a coffee and a nap. Tikki needs a drink.

5. Citrus and Lavender - Enemies to Lovers AU with Chat Noir being deceived into being on Hawk Moth's side from the very beginning. The kids need therapy and Gabriel needs jail.

UPCOMING

There's is so much I'm looking forward to with Bell the Cat, but with the upcoming chapters I'm excited about introducing some more characters into this world! And of course all the Ladyblanc banter to be had!

2. This is my little pet project at the moment that I am slow roasting in the microwave. There are so many things that I am foaming at the mouth for that I want to just spit the fic out onto ao3 already but I'm trying to go slow with this one.

3. I'm just excited to feed myself more Toxigriffe, even if its in Adrinette form. I have so many ideas for these two but this oneshot is the closest to being finished. I'm excited to have it done (soon! hopefully!)!

4. Another one that's been slow roasting for a bit. I'll admit I'm still undecided with how I want to post this - do I go full fanfic on ao3 with it? Or a webcomic-style on tumblr? Perhaps a hybrid of both? I normally go with writing for longer stories, but this AU really got its interest and following through my random comics of it. It's exciting to think about my options as I could really challenge myself with it (even if opting for a more webcomic style is terrifying in its own way).

5. We're finally reaching the point in the story where Ladynoir are trying to transition from stalwart enemies to shy and unsure partners. All sides of the love square are standing on bambi legs right now as things are very new and scary - but at least they'll slowly learn they have each other to lean on!

Damian had spent the past three years of his life unconscious. It had been a nuisance, his mind only coming alive when he entered another's dreams. It had been torture, waiting for Marinette to fall asleep so that he could see her. And it wasn't every night, because whatever magic allowed it was too weak to allow it regularly.

So to have her come for him in the depths of Nanda Parbat, saving him from the curse his grandfather and mother had put him under, was a wish he hadn't dared make. Honestly, he had been semi terrified of the thought ever since he realised she was a real, living, breathing person at the age of eight. 

The dreams couldn't do her justice, though. She was much more vibrant in person, a quickness in her eyes that was hazy through the world of dreams and a warmth that just couldn't translate. And though he had tried to warn her not to come, he was so glad she had.

“Damian, are you ready to go?” She asked softly, tightening the straps of her own pack. They were on the outer edges of a French town, civilisation only steps away, and Marinette had promised him that they were going to get him back to her home before deciding where to go next.

“Yes,” he said simply, grabbing the pack they had procured for him and fastening it to his shoulders. He cursed quietly as he struggled with it, his body slightly bigger than he was accustomed to. 

At least, until Marinette came over and adjusted it with nimble, sure fingers. Then his heart skipped a beat at her closeness, her confidence. And when she was done, he caught her hand before she could move away from him. She looked up at him with wide eyes, edged with something like anticipation.

He couldn't resist leaning into her and kissing her. She was a magnet, pulling him in every time she looked at him. And after years of dreams in which she woke every time he tried, he was a starved man standing in front of a banquet. He imagined she felt similar because she always responded instantly to his touch.

“We really should get going,” she gasped, pulling away a short time later. He growled and pressed into her again but relented when Tikki came buzzing around. 

“Fine, I shall behave myself,” he said reluctantly, keeping a steadfast hold on her hand.

Marinette wasn't sure what she had expected, returning to Paris with Damian in tow. She supposed part of her hadn't expected to come home. But now that she stood in front of the bakery, hand wrapped in Damian's, she was anxious. She already knew that telling them the truth of how she knew him was hopeless so she planned to introduce him as a fellow traveler. 

She took a deep breath and pulled Damian through the doors of the bakery. It was warm and smelled like home, and she couldn't help taking a deep breath and letting it settle in her bones. Damian remained tense and she tried to squeeze his hand reassuringly.

“Marinette! You're back to visit, how wonderful,” her Maman called out, smiling. Marinette beamed back reflexively, stepping further into the small store. Damian followed silently, his hand solid in hers. “And you've brought someone with you. Tom, come see who your daughter has brought home with her!” 

She felt Damian stiffen next to her as her father stepped through, his bulky frame blocking out the view of the kitchen. She stifled a laugh at his reaction but he narrowed his eyes at her. 

“Maman, Papa, I'd like you to meet Damian,” Marinette said after giving both of her parents a hug. “Damian, this is my Maman, Sabine, and Papa, Tom. Papa, I was hoping he could stay here with us, just until we work out what our next move is.”

“Of course! Any friend of Marinette's is welcome in our home,” Tom said cheerfully, pulling Damian forward into an embrace. Marinette appreciated the control Damian displayed not stabbing her Papa for being familiar with him. “We look forward to getting to know you, Damian. Why don't you both head upstairs for now, get some rest?”

“Thanks Papa, we will,” Marinette promised, pulling Damian through the kitchen and up to their apartment. She ignored the hushed conversation happening between her parents that she was fairly sure meant that they were planning way further into the future than she was prepared for.

“They seem…friendly,” Damian ventured when they were safely ensconced in her room. He settled himself on her chaise easily and she was glad she had often dreamt of them in this space over the years. It meant that he was familiar and it was likely familiar to him too.

“Overly so sometimes, yes,” Marinette agreed, putting her pack on her desk and coming to sit with him. He turned and pulled her into his lap, her feet curling up under her. “I'm glad they didn't freak out too much, I don't know how I would have handled it.”

“I am sure you would have been the epitome of grace,” Damian said with a smirk, pressing a kiss to her forehead. She pinched him lightly and he chuckled, squeezing her hip. “We would have been fine. But I am also glad we did not have to face that particular trial.”

“Is it weird that it doesn't feel strange to have you here? Like, I've dreamed it enough that this feels more natural than if I was here by myself again,” Marinette said. 

“If it is, I am equally bizarre,” Damian replied, hand starting to move in rhythmic circles on her skin. It was soothing and Marinette felt the weight of her journey fall away. She closed her eyes and sighed. “I did not have the opportunity to show you them but I had many drawings of your room. It is almost a shame that I cannot share them with you.”

“Mmmm, I have dozens of pictures of you, too,” she murmured sleepily, arms wrapping around his waist as she settled her head fully against his chest. “I had to hide them away because how could I possibly explain who you were? I didn't think you were real for so long. But I knew I loved you.”

“I would enjoy seeing those pictures - when you have had some sleep,” Damian whispered into her ear, leaning his own head back a moment later. She almost missed the quiet words that followed. “I have loved you for just as long.”

Damian felt as she drifted to sleep, her body going limp against him. He couldn't quite believe his fortune; this woman, who he had known through his dreams for so long, had been yearning for him just as he had yearned for her. And now that he had her in his arms, he was not inclined to let her go.

Whatever they were destined to face, he was sure it would be together.

Any fic recommendations where the kwamis are morally grey but still in-character? Or ones where they focus on the kwami enslavement part?

Hm... there are a few that might fit the bill.

Secret-Keepers series by Peppermint_Shamrock

A series of fics taking place in the same AU, where the kwamis are no longer the cute and sweet creatures they are in canon, but powerful and terrifying gods that aren't interested in emotionally bonding with their hosts. As a consequence, the heroes' memories are blocked - they have no knowledge of their civilian selves while transformed and no knowledge that they are superheroes when they aren't transformed.

Marinette, Alya and the rest of Paris will need more than faith in Gimmi to survive. As the city's sanity hangs by a thread, bodies, minds, and souls are traded with the unknown in order to hold on to the things they each treasure most. Written for the AU Roulette Challenge 2024 with the prompt: Cosmic Horror AU

If you like Cosmic Horror (Lovecraftian I think? Though this isn't really my wheelhouse), then this is the story for you! I love seeing how Paris copes with the madness seeping through its streets, somehow going about daily life despite it all.

Kwamis here are more inhuman, more separated from humanity. There's no cute little miniature form to help bridge the gap. While humans can still meld with kwami, it's not all quite as firmly in the human's control as it normally is, and the side effects are worse. It doesn't help that the kwamis can't fully understand squishy little humans' wants, needs, or morality.

Like, as Ladybug, Marinette can't remember her human name, and her human concerns are somewhat muted. While as Marinette, she can't remember certain aspects of her time as Ladybug, and only regains those memories when she transforms again. She also has to be careful about restoring everything, as she can't just give Tikki a cookie and call it a day. Instead, she herself needs to eat enough to compensate for the lost energy, which can be a substantial portion of the goods in her parents' bakery.

As for Adrien... well, this is still going off of Sentimonster Adrien, though the ritual to create him went differently... and went wrong. But he is still Adrien.

Chloe's interesting as well, she's this sort of priest, this missionary for the kwamis, but her methods are... well, not the best. She still has a bunch of her canonical hangups, even though she IS somewhat helpful.

I love Alya in here, she's just desperately trying to figure out what's going on so that she can try to fix it, especially since Nino's one of the people who's been driven mad by the Blight. She does find some answers, and even ends up being partially responsible for Ladybug's creation and Chat's and Ladybug's subsequent fight against the worst effects of the Blight, but the risks, danger, and side effects she suffers are still significant. Though some of those side effects can be used to her advantage.

Anyway, I really enjoyed this AU and thought it was an interesting take on the subject, I highly recommend checking it out!

There was something wrong with Duusu. More than Felix thinks should be. He didn’t have a frame of reference for Duusu’s behaviours. He doesn’t know what’s normal for the Kwami or how Kwami were supposed to act at all. The information he gathered from the tablet wasn’t much, he learned even less about the Kwamis but… Felix didn’t have a frame of reference for Duusu’s behaviour. But he didn’t think the Kwami of Emotion should look so empty.

I love how this fic acknowledges how Felix doomed the rest of the kwamis to staying with Gabriel, and how unhappy Duusu would be about that. Which Felix understands, but he was also desperate, and right now he can't stay transformed for long or keep any sentis he makes alive, which just... you can feel his desperation and bottled-up guilt. He knows what he did was wrong, but he'd still do it again, in order to feel safe for once in his life.

Gale Theories: Who is "The Supreme"?

In the Miraculous World Special: Tales of Shadybug and Claw Noir it is revealed that the two villains were not the main one's causing chaos, but two villains working under someone or something called "The Supreme" and we never see what they look like, just their logo and influence.

(Spoilers below)

Shadybug and Claw Noir are both clearly terrified of the villain, Betterfly even comments that the two villains he is fighting are being used by the Supreme.

We know that the Supreme gave Gabriel his miraculous and his misuse lead to... well

But thats not all we see of the Supreme,

Tikki and Plagg are both Gagged by the Supreme, the miraculous he gave to Shadybug and Claw noir have kwami unable to speak.

We also know that even if someone were to combine the Ladybug and Cat miraculous that belong to the Supreme

Gimmi, the Kwami of reality CAN NOT grant wishes and even says

Only The Supreme defines reality. Reality is The Supreme

So this begs the Question, who could this "Supreme" be?

Now if we look at the Supreme's symbol it looks like the Order of Guardian's symbol, but with an X through it

This could imply that the being known as the Supreme has had some affiliation with the Guardians in the past or at the very least knows about their existence.

Which leads to the First Theory

The Supreme is the Evil Version of the Order of Guardians

I have seen going around is that the Supreme is an Evil version of the Guardians, and that it is simply a representative of a group as a whole, which does seem feasible, especially when we look into the picture of Gabriel facing multiple symbols but that could also be a stylistic choice.

But if the Supreme IS a group as opposed to just a singular individual than the group MUST be under the evil version of Su Han OR the Wizard that created the Miraculous originally.

I think the theory is a bit lacking as we know very little about the wizard and Su han (while being a competent fighter has shown to be incompetent in literally every other field) so him being the villain doesnt make sense.

But the next theory does hold a bit more water.

Nathalie is the Supreme

We never see who or what the Supreme is, and we never see a version of Nathalie from the other Universe. We know Nathalie used to be a Lara Kroft like explorer and was the one that found the butterfly miraculous. It could be possible that in this timeline, Nathalie FOUND all of the miraculous and used them for her own benefit, making herself the supreme. She has shown to have a better grasp of the miraculous than Gabriel even before uncovering the knowledge.

But this is also speculation as we dont know if Fu is still around in that Universe and if the events of Feast actually happened. And while I do love an all powerful Step Milf. It is also unlikely. The next one may also seem out of left field but does have a bit more justification

Lila/Cerise/Whomever the f***, is The Supreme

Lila as the Supreme? Well she is evil and competent enough. Lila also has the cold hearted nature to accomplish such a feat, And the ending of Season 5 does have something happening that causes our universe's Lila to freak out. An alternate universe conquering Lila does seem feasible with how well she adjusts, but with people commenting she is only 14 that it wouldnt work, what if Lila isnt 14?

The girl knows how to navigate and change persona's at the drop of a hat. The planning and way she acquires things she wants is on a much more devious method than most teens would even consider. Lila could feasibly be someone with eternal youth or a medical disorder that makes her look young. (Yes an Orphan situation). And it is basically a fandom joke at this point with how much Thomas believes that teenagers are the meanest people.

But similar to Nathalie such a possibility is limited and likely not the case.

Which leads us to the final and probable individual that is likely the True Supreme

Fu is The Supreme

Now why would I say this is the most likely situation. On Rewatch, Shadybug does refer to the Supreme as "Him" at one point. Which could be a dubism, but if it isnt there is also the reasons below on why it could be Fu

Fu has canonically had a negative experience with the Guardians

Fu is responsible for the Guardians disappearing the first time by accident

Fu has a deep understanding of the miraculous and was trained in the ways of the guardian.

Fu going mad with power and being alone for almost 2 centuries would be a logical backstory to turn him evil

Since we know that certain events are consistent in the other universe, like Adrien losing his mother and Marinette getting bullied by Chloé. It is likely the events that created Fu are the same. And if the events are the same or similar, than the order of Guardians are no more, leaving one person who would have had ALL the miraculous, and that is Fu.

And lets say the Events DIDNT play out the same, Fu could have made a faction that simply took over from the original Order of Guardians, thats why that symbol is there and is crossing out the Original one.

Fu would also know how the wish works and thus likely made the wish to be the one to alter reality, he likely gave himself the power to have control of things. And while people may argue that Fu is incompetent, he actually has shown to be quite clever and quick to figure things out. Fu also was competent enough to pick ladybug and Chat noir to fight Hawkmoth, so he must understand what is needed.

...the branch of the family Marinette comes from stuck to the Addams ways.

Marinette: *looks at Tikki with great interest after she gets her Miraculous*

Marinette: Wow, you look adorable! Are you some kind of vengeful ghost that came to haunt me? That would be so cool! I always envy the main Addams line for their haunted mansion. Here, no ghosts want to go outside the catacombs, and mā mī always gets mad when I go there because I come back all dirty...

Tikki: ... That was definitely the weirdest first meeting with my holder I've had this millennium...

Hawk Moth: *during Stoneheart's return, he gives his cheesy speech to paint the heroes in a bad light*

Bloody Scarabaeush *ladybug version in this au*: Oh shut up, old man. You're the villain, and when I get my hands on you, I'll show you how the French get rid of trash like you, Hawky.

Bloody Scarabaeush: *pulls hard on her yo-yo string, smiling uncomfortably as she stares at the kaleidoscope of akumas*

Chat Noir: Wow... Whoever she is under the mask...

Chat Noir *shudders, looking at her with concern*: ...she absolutely terrifies me

Alternate Season 3 ML Ending

I have been musing on an alt Season 3 finale that could catch the same general vibes while also perhaps serving as a culmination of Chloe's redemption arc efforts, Lila's whole 'thing' and while still shaking up the status quo as canons kind of did, here's what I have:

Post Ikari Gozen, there's a minor subplot in Party Crasher of Chloe trying to get in contact with Kagami who assumes its to shout at her about hero stuff. She's half right as at the end of the episode Chloe uses Adrien's mobile to lure Kagami in & says they need to talk, hero to hero.

Post Party Crasher, through The Puppeteer 2, a spin on Cat Blanc (Maybe) and Félix there's little scenes of them meeting to discuss their findings. These relate to feeling like Akuma are around them at night, finding Lila suspicious as fuck cos either Ladybug's bestie is too loose with details or Lila knows way too much and is trying to make Akuma happen.

They agree to keep watch over Marinette. Barring Chloe & Kagami, she seems to be her main target.

The next three episodes all fit together, with Heart Hunter first.

Heart Hunter changes:

Lila cuts the Bee Signal before the Akuma arrives, negs Chloe & then stalks Marinette, Adrien & Kagami.

When Kagami speaks to Ladybug she figures out its Marinette & while hurt at the sabotage date she still shares what she & Chloe think & they both realize today is an ambush.

Not having seen Ryuko, Chloe's not totally given into despair & upon claiming Pollen tries to fight Hawk Moth. She but gets injured reclaiming the Miracle Box & has to be saved by Kagami.

Hawk Moth & Mayura retreat with the tablet and Fu gives up being Guardian due to the strain of the battle nearly killing him.

Chloe's hospitalized as she tried to use Venom more than once. Ryuko is still upset with Marinette, Chat's upset about Chloe, Marinette is upset about Fu & feels incredibly alone.

A terrified Lila assures Hawk Moth she knows 'another' Miraculous Wielder and this one will break, Marinette.

Ladybug

Marinette tries to adjust to having all the Kwami with her & with translating the book.

Chat & other heroes are cycling in and out of Chloe's hospital room where she remains unconscious.

Despite going through a day from hell, Marinette still has to go to school the next day cos she can't even tell her parents what's wrong.

At school only Alya is present (She did her shift) Adrien's visiting Chloe as a civilian and Nino is (Sick) guarding Chloe.

Then everything goes to hell when Lila presents a video of Marinette stealing from her locker. They are sent to the principle.

Alya realizes something is sus.

Marinette 'can' get super jealous and see the worst in people but she isn't a thief. So Alya follows them.

She arrives in time to see Lila reveal an Akumatized appendage that jabs a needle into Marinette & sends her into a nightmare (Basically the rest of the canon episode) then tries to steal her ear rings.

Lila only gets one before Alya tackles the fuck out of her and then Lila starts vomiting up an Akuma that infests Marinette's remain ear ring much to her despair.

"I needed that!"

Cue half transformed, fully Akumatized Ladybug, partialy trapped in a nightmare despair mode going on a rampage.

The Battle of the Miraculous:

Lila flees, carrying Alya & a fading Tikki who explains Lila's being turned into an Akuma, & that they need to call in 'everyone', revealing IDs.

Hawk Moth sends Mayura and a fake Sentimonster Ladybug to get the Miraculous (Having realized Lila was covering for having figured out Ladybug's identity to steal the miraculous for herself) While he takes Marinette towards the hospital to kill Chloe & lure out Chat Noir.

Ryuko, Alya & a partially feral Lila defend the Miraculous Box, with the other heroes showing up to help after Mayura is driven off.

Lila also reveals Hawk Moth's identity, so Chat knows via phone call.

Chloe awakens in time to finish her redemption arc by basically goading Marinette & HK into focusing on her over Chat.

Nino catches Hawk Moth in a bubble shield and Chat has to destroy the ear ring to free Marinette & everyone gangs up on Hawk Moth.

He is un-masked publicly but manages to escape, despite Chloe's murder effort, thanks to unleashing a swarm of Akuma from Lila.

The Akuma are captured and purified before they can do much harm, but the Miraculous Cure is not working properly. The ear rings are only half usable at best. Worse, if they want to avoid Lila becoming a permanent Akuma she needs the remaining one to stay herself.

The heroes get Marinette out of the public eye before her ID can be revealed & she's allowed to have a good fucking cry. Adrien reveals his ID & he probably has a small breakdown too. But everyone resolves to go to the Agreste Manor & end things.

Sadly, Hawk Moth has fled, blowing up the manor and sending an Akumatized Gorrila to collect Adrien. Leaving behind only a weird basement ruin with no sign of his plans.

Epilogue:

Because of this, the Miraculous are divided up with their various users, though some are likely swapped or have other security precautions.

Until Marinette decodes the book & fixes Tikki's Miraculous she is left as Multi-Mouse and with a half functional Miracle Cure courtesy of Lila who 100% cannot fight but is hiding out with their crew anyway.

Hawk Moth is shown repairing the Peacock Miraculous and unveiling his Unification/Rebrand. Though where he is or who is harboring him is still a mystery. His identity may be publicly unknown to protect Adrien who has moved in with his aunt and cousin.

This leaves us with a massively shaken status quo, a full hero team, an empowered but no longer anonymous and much more personal villain, no more school rivals and no more mentors or secret identities among friend or foes.
