I made a tik tok to promote this blog!!! I probably won’t use it much other then to give updates on videos and such but it’s there under the username “fandomanthropology”!
pains me that there's simply not enough info on star wars in-universe entertainment and pop culture for my liking. i want to know what star wars version of the godfather looks like. i wanna know what kind of space fanfiction a pantoran teenager would read, the kind of space tiktok edits they would make. i want to know the star wars equivalent for whatever the hell that is happening with ben affleck and matt damon. i want to see a coruscant news outlet publish an article with a headline "M'ett Sp'Amon not wearing a wedding ring again during another visit to Beng Spifflek's house. which could mean nothing"
We as a fandom joke about Tim's cloning stint a lot. It was a fucked up thing for Tim to do and definitely showed off his Mad Basement Scientist vibes quite literally. It is, objectively, pretty funny.
On the other hand, how much of Tim's soul was lost that he tried 99 times to create a replication of Kon? He knew it wouldn't bring his best friend back. He knew, at best, Tim's project would be closer to Kon's biological sibling instead.
Despite that, Tim tried 99 times. Each trial might have brought him closer, but they would've taken an extreme amount of time. It would have cost so much money and resources.
Tim, as he slowly broke down in front of a glass tube that once imprisoned his friend, did not stop. He wouldn't. He couldn't. He knew Kon would hate him for this. He knew his best friend would be furious at the blatant disregard for clones. Tim was so lost that he gave up everything for a mere impression of Kon. He sacrificed his time, effort, and resources. On the line was his reputation in the hero community, relationship with Kon, and mental stability.
can we please stop with the ‘Mickey is objectively a bad person’ shit PLEASE.
I get it comes from a place of holding him accountable for his actions which is fair but going straight to “he’s a bad person” just completely disregards so much of his growth and development, and the nuances of the show.
I get Mickey fans got a reputation in the past for excusing everything he does and yea that’s annoying. But to counteract that by saying “he’s objectively terrible!” is so one dimensional and also completely goes against everything that shameless is about.
the point of shameless isn’t that all of these people are terrible, it’s to show the effect living in poverty has on a person and the lengths that are necessary to go to survive in that life, and the mistakes that ultimately causes people to make along the way.
no shameless character is perfect. that’s the point. even some of the worst things that characters have done have been because they are victims of their circumstances and situations. they are nuanced complex characters that can’t be put into boxes of good and bad
they’ve all done things to hurt other people and themselves. but the point is is that most of them have good within them, but all the factors against them make it harder to let that out.
“He’s a bad person” is a lazy reading of the show that completely lacks nuance in my opinion
nothing was more disappointing then looking at the cruel prince tik tok and seeing the top video be ai generated images “illustrating” scenes of the book. I’m going to fucking kill someone.
Iceman strongly believes that betting on stupid stuff like who can drink the most hot sauce is childish but Nick “Mother Goose” Bradshaw calls him a coward he’ll chug that entire bottle without breaking a sweat out of spite.
No more of “would you still love me if I was a worm” shit. DO you love me enough to keep me in a cage in your living room if I turned into a flesh eating zombie? Answer me. Happy Halloween.
