To start, I need to say something a bit controversial: I like the ridiculous sound effects? Now that the plot is moving it makes the whole show feel like a bubbly anime or like we’re trapped in some kind of surreal funhouse world where everything is sparkly and bright. The noises can be annoying but they completely add to the ambiance of the show.

Nubsib is a total manipulator but with a perfect face. It’s very interesting watching him maneuver Gene into whatever situation he wants, using his intelligence. Gene is too charmed by his attention and too slow to notice a thing. For example, I thought it was hilarious how Nubsib played Gene so hard that GENE ended up begging Nubsib for a kiss.

Gene is a really lovable and unique character. Highlights of the week: Gene vacuuming in his sleep and Nubsib having to stop him, and then Gene later waking up face down and kneeling on the floor.

I think the pace of the show is going really fast because this show will have two breakups. The first being when Gene finds out Nubsib’s real personality and then starts to fall for him as he truly is, and then a second breakup will be caused by external factors like Aey and the studio. I’m very excited for Gene to know the real Nubsib.

Tum and Tiffy really remind me of the adult couple on True Beauty where the gag was also that the gender roles was reversed. I’ll be honest, I don’t care about hetero couples in BL dramas, but the gag is fun and they’re both cute.

Aey’s backstory seemed dark which was surprising. They also set Hin up as needing to send money back home to help his Mother. Both of those backstories (dark secrets and needing money) will serve as good villain motivation for them to manipulate Nubsib and Gene down the line.

Nubsib taking care of Gene and Gene’s reaction to it was very cute. Because of his personality type it’s likely he’s been all alone since college, so Nubsib making him jam toast, a sandwich and giving him extra meat, was peak romance.

I can already see how the actions in this episode will come back to bite Nubsib and Gene in the ass. When social media finds out about them (as shown in the trailer) I bet the girl from the supermarket will tell the press that Nubsib told her they were boyfriends.

The comedy from Nubsib’s obsessive love over Gene was giving me life. The acting scene, the jam scene, the shirtless scene, and the scene in the supermarket were all hilarious.

The kiss was a shock for the second episode but it was so well done. I love how Nubsib plays with Gene by saying lines in the script that match what he wants to say. “You look innocent but you’re pretty stubborn,” was all Nubsib.
