Watching Luten's vid on Titus... And he gives Leonidas a break.

Yes he is a bit to much of a stick in the mud and doesn't fully understand the codex.... But he was seeing his Captain show off some freaky abilities when interacting with the warp, alarm bells where ringing.

Luten points out the reason we mostly ignored it.

Because Titus is the hero, we look at him snub the codex and go "cool." He is the big action man that can do no wrong..... But if you look at him from a lore point if view.... He is not a good Ultramarine. He takes stupid risks, he ignores doctoran and throws himself into the midst of combat with very little care.

I admit, I was wearing the rose tinted glasses, do I like Tidus less? No. Do I like Leonidas more? Hell fuck no.

But I am willing to admit, they are not as good/bad as memes made them.

Description: It’s been 10 years since Axl has seen Slash. The day his stepfather picked him up from Slash’s house was the last time he saw him. Now, they meet again.

Axl walked through the halls of Tower Records, making his nightly checks as night manager. He was on the second floor where the studios were located to see if none of the equipment had been stolen. When he was walking to the last room a tidal wave of laughs were coming up the staircase. A group of five men were walking together with beers in his hand. Axl was going to tell them that they couldn’t have any food and drinks in the building when the site of the third man stopped him in his tracks.

It was…Slash.

They hadn’t seen each other since that night John threatened his father with his shotgun. Several emotions flowed through his body. Confusion, sadness, and anger were to name a few. He couldn’t move to hide. Slash spotted him as well. They stood there, staring at each other for several awkward seconds.

“Hey, guys, go ahead into the studio. I’ll be back in a minute.” Slash directed.

The dude, who had even curlier hair than Slash, briefly looked at Axl and smiled at him. He gave a small laugh and the group disappeared into the room. Slash started to walk towards him. Tears started to form in his eyes for the first time in years. To hide it, he looked down at his feet. His vision began to blur. He covered his face as the tears couldn’t be controlled any longer.

“Please look at me, Axl.” His sweet voice begged.

Axl struggled to. Every time he attempted to lift his head, it would just go right back down as more tears brewed. He was married and had a kid. This was wrong. He shouldn’t be having feelings for another, especially for someone who left him hanging for years. The last time they saw each other was against his will. Slash avoided him. Axl would try to approach him and he would go the other way. He went years wondering what his problem was. Slash gave him no closure. He had no choice but to let him go.

“I’m married.” Axl declared. “I have a daughter as well.”

His face dropped in shock. “Th-That’s great, Axl. I’m currently in a band called Tidus Sloan.”

“That’s cool.” He looked at the clock on the wall. 11:25 pm. “My shifts almost over. I should be heading out.”

“Ok. See you later?”

Axl nodded silently and headed downstairs. He got into his car, then began punching his steering wheel. Axl left Lafayette to not be reminded of the torture that town had put him through. He wasn’t prepared for one of the memories to bump into him at his job. And for the feelings to still be there after all these years.

His husband, Jeffrey, was sitting on the couch watching tv, waiting for him to come home like he always does. After taking off his shoes and setting them by the door, Axl bent down and kissed him.

“You had any trouble with Isla today?” Axl asked his routine question.

“No, she’s been an angel for once. She even went to sleep on time.” Jeffrey reported.

Isla was two years old and already showing signs that she had Axl’s temperament, which was a fear he had when he was pregnant. The pediatrician said her attitude was pretty normal for children her age, but he was still fearful of the possibility that she would never grow out of this. Axl worked from 3:30 to 11:30 at night for five days a week, which meant Jeffrey was home with her most of the day.

“So how was work?” He asked, hugging Axl from behind.

He grabbed hold of one of his giant hands. “It was fine until I ran into one of my exes”

“Who?” Axl could hear the anger in his voice.

Axl didn’t keep anything from Jeffrey. It was in the vows to not hold secrets and, so far, both of them have been honest with each other. He wanted this marriage to work.

“It was Saul. My very first boyfriend in matter of fact. His band is recording at the studio.”

“Did he say anything?” Jeffrey wondered.

Axl shook his head. “Not much. I told him I was married and he walked off.”

Jeffrey happily kissed his cheek. “This is why I love you.”

If only he knew what he really felt about him.

All that hard work, all that information: stolen, destroyed, gone. Dr Sona had been found out by The Prefect alongside his coworker's child. The game was up: his residency as the school's counselor had finally been found to be a smokescreen, and everybody could see it.

"I-I-" He seethed. His throat felt tight, filled with a sour, earthy taste. Was it sick? No. "I won't let some insssepid cubs ruin EVERYTHING I worked for!"

“I will be willing to reward you with a position in the kitchen in exchange for year two herbology lessons," Offered Azul. "Until the end of this school year when your compulsory service at the lounge is fulfilled, and I have passed my exams. What do you say?”

Well, they were short one cook, after the union scuffle, and Tidus had been aching for that job for a while…He perused through the newly rearranged contract with a similar scrutiny to the one keeping Azul or Jade from talking to Vane, but found no fault in the current terms. He took the pen and rescrawled his name along the emptied line. No sooner did the contract roll in on itself and the pen disappeared. Azul rose from his seat and replaced his hat.

"I look forward to what we'll learn together," he declared with a hand out to shake.

Tidus utterly brimmed with excitement. His heart leapt at his new prospects. Completely ignoring the attempt at a handshake, he instead elected to scoop the much smaller man into his arms and into an all-encompassing hug.

"You got it, Boss!"

Both twins hissed with laughter at the octopus’s predicament. Floyd erupted into full-on cackling at the muffled sound of the gesture being 'highly unprofessional' and to 'Put me down and get back to work'. Tidus quickly relented, understanding long, crushing embraces being more of a Rhin Family Thing than a universal exchange.

Galen still couldn't help feeling apprehensive. His hand lay outstretched: bare. The hair under his sleeve stood on end as Deuce reached out take said gloveless hand into his own.

"You've taught me a lot, Donnelley," the soon-to-be second year smiled. "I wanted to shake cause, I think you deserve to have that kinda contact. I ain't scared of luck; rolling with the punches is something else you taught me. It's...gonna be kinda weird to not see you next year. Mind if we swap contacts just so we don't forget each other?"

Warmth. Unobstructed warmth, from another person...Of their own volition. It threatened to light his nerves like a stick of firecrackers. Yet, ever so cautiously, Galen's hand hesitantly curled around Deuce's and began to shake it.

"Sure. If you don't hear from me, I'm busy. Just gimme a bit to reply, m'kay? It ain't me forgetting you. And...thanks." The typically dour-looking third year suddenly let something akin to a smirk creep up his cheek. "Trey wanted me to keep it a surprise cause he overheard, but Secret between us? I heard your name a bit when Riddle got to talking about picking a new vice housewarden since Trey's takin' off."

Final Fantasy X and Forged in the Light of New Stars, my magitech isekai

I'm remembering FFX and specifically the worldbuilding of it and I think it is not only giving me ideas for Forged, but inspired Forged originally (Forged has always been partly my homage to FF's magitech worlds, but I think the archipelago is due to X) Spira has this really rich feeling culture, the way that the faith of Yevon is woven into everything, the way that Summoners aren't just heroes on a mission, but the medium between the living and the dead, the way that tragedy leaves scars, the whole deal with Sin, it's so good!

the Al Bhed as a distinct culture trying to push back against the narrative of Yevon, the way Yevonites absolutely break their own taboos while justifying it in the name of power, the whole system is just really well set up especially when you see it all through Tidus, a stranger.

So how does this relate to Forged?

Well, Forged is an isekai about a trans woman and a rotten egg, Gwen and Brian respectively, who are transported to Tellara: a world of magitech and wonder that bears the scars of a great cataclysm that shaped the current state of the world. Tellara takes place in an archipelago where people have rebuilt since the oceans rose and wild magic ran free due to the vanishing of the Goddess of Chaos, Teara.

Magic is a central part of Tellaran life. Wielding it directly is dangerous, because of the warping influence of wild magic, so it is wielded through the art of Alchemy, which contains the magic within arrays and language to achieve specific effects safely, and by Mages, who wield magic as Tellarans of old did, directly and intuitively, by changing the nature of their souls to be inviolate by the effects of wild magic. Doing so also changes them permanently into something new.

There's a cultural festival that has taken place in the story thus far, Shatternight, which honors the memory of the lost gods and those who perished in the cataclysm, while also celebrating those who survived and the flourishing that has taken place since. I am contemplating a priesthood of sorts that is inspired by Yuna's sending dance, where they take the idea of remembering the gods further and seek to provide solace to the dead by ensuring their memory is saved for as long as possible.

Spira is one of the best worlds I think Final Fantasy has ever had and I am going to be doing a lot of thinking about the lessons I, as an author, can learn there. (If you want more info on Forged and where to read it, please check out my pinned post: here)

So remember that egg that was put by Merlin??? Yep, this is who pops out!! This Lil grass cat is a CACTUS variant, so he has thorns and grows desert roses instead of what the normal variants of his kind do.

Technically both nannies raise him but Merlin teaches him more than Kyuu does and carried him around more XD so he sees Merlin as dad only. (Named by my S/O as a combo of the name Tidus and the word synthesis)

Happy Birthday, Carder Kids!!

Al and Tidus are coming to stop by Joker's party, while Eu and Lazaro are swinging by Punch's.

"The Strap you have that matches the Heartslabyul uniform is lovely," Albert started. "I believe I found one similar, but with a bit of extra padding for more comfortable carrying."

"I wasn't sure how many different kinds of hair accessories you were able to bring with you," Tidus said sheepishly. "But I hope this gives you even more options for however you like styling it." In his gift, an assortment of hair ties, clips and accents lay, all coordinated with red, black, and white.

Over in Punch's Party: "Hermanito!! Gotta keep those mitts warm and protected out on the hockey field if you wanna play that uke later. Got'cha some custom gloves!" Ignihyde blue, the gloves had 'CARDER' embroidered along the wrist, with a raven over the back of each hand.

"So, I got a couple of guys from your dorm to help me transcribe some songs on the 'Ipod' from my world," Eugenio said, a bit unsure whether it was something that could land. "I got a copy of the actual songs along with the sheet music for you to listen to if you wanted, to get an idea of how they sound." An MP3 player and booklet of sheet music sat in their hand for him to take. A whole new catalogue of songs to learn.

It was Joker and Punch's birthday yesterday, but the party goes on!

Rose petals flutter in the breeze in the Heartslabyul tea garden, and the guest of honor is cooing over a certain Pentergeist's present. "Checkerboard *and* roses? OM7, Al, this is absolutely perfect!" Joker pulled the accordion strap from the tissue paper and held it up against her shoulders, grinning. "You could tell the old one was starting to dig in, huh? It was beginning to wear a little thin on me, so this is fantastic timing. Thank you so much!!" She pulls Albert into a tight side-hug and places a kiss on his cheek, only slightly marking him with a red smudge under one eye. "You're so sweet."

When Tidus approaches, she takes his hand into both of hers to bring him a little closer. "I'm so glad you were able to come by today! I know you haven't been able to come to a lot of proper Queendom events, but here at Heartslabyul you'll get the next closest thing to actually visiting. A lil' adventure until you can go in person, right?" She giggles as she opens his gift. "Aww, you noticed I'm always trying something new? These are gonna match my gear perfectly. Thank you!!" Again, she does the tight, friendly side-hug, but can't quite reach up as high for the cheek smooch. (A pity, really.)

Over at Ignihyde, the lounge has been transformed from its usual sterility to a night at the club! Punch squints good-naturedly through the blue-and-white party lights and leans closer to Laz so he can hear him over the music. "Oh wow!! Yeah, it ain't easy getting gear here, since we haven't got a club or anything for hockey - these are great!" He tries one glove on, flexing his fingers. They're a perfect fit! He offers a fistbump to his senior, grinning wide. "Excellent, brother. Thank you. I gotta get you to the rink soon, let you try out playing. You'll like it."

"Eu! You made it, bud!" Punch gives his friend a hearty handshake. "What's that? Oh, so is this the songs that you've been singing? That's incredible! It'll be so much fun to hear all this new music." His eyes are all lit up, and he's grinning extra hard. "Thank you so much! This is gonna be incredible!!"

Taking up the entirety of the doorframe, Tidus had to lean down to enter the party. Behind him, he'd completely eclipsed the presence of Albert. With the Whale Shark in his Octavinelle uniform, and Al in his 'Pentergeist' uniform, They both quickly offered a hand in setting the table, final preparations or anything Lilith might need UvU

With them, Tidus brought a Coral Sea blend of tea-it's sweet, if a little salty (similar to how people put salt on watermelon). Albert in turn brought a little extra rose syrup from the batch he'd made Riddle a while back. If not that, honey is both sweet and good for allergies (depending on where you get it).

Lilith was looking up wide eyed though not because of the height but because they brought treats to. she practically skipped to Quinn "Quinn look look!!!" she points over at them "they brought sweets to!"

"can i drink that syrup now?" grim asks drooling

"no!" Lilith says huffy at him for even suggesting that

Quinn politely smiled before taking there things off there hands so he could go prepare it for them.

Lilith held there hands to take them to the tea room "normally we use the chairs but i think you both would be comfier in the big beanie chairs that i let hornton an Matilda sit in when they're over sense they're tall like you guys are!" she slide's the chairs out of the way to scoot said beanie's over for them to sit.

by the time they were done with that debacle Quinn returned with the tea they had brought in a rather unique tea set. "i belive this will match the theme of this evening"

Quinn brought this tea set out as soon as he was handed the Coral Sea blend of tea he knew it would help with the aesthetic but also he loved seeing there surprised faces including Lilith who didn't know he had more then one set up his sleeve.

"Thank you Q-.....butler!" she just wants to say his name but they're playing pretend she needs to be in charcter!

Quinn smiles as he pours them there cups gives grim extra sugar so hopefully he won't try to steal the guests meals.

"the syrup smells like roses you sure that this is edible?" Grim gripes but he intends on eating it regardless of the answer.

"i love the taste of the tea you brought i've never had anything like it before thank you!" Lilith after all loves to try new things
