To ask who's fronting:
Who's managing that meat palace?
Or
Who's at the front desk in your squishy brain castle baby?
Saying “oh hey it’s ___ I’m fronting now” when coming into front : Bad. Lame. Boring. Cringe
Saying “hey I’m back and I killed that other guy” when coming into front: Awesome. Hilarious. Based. Literally the funniest thing ever

"Buh! Blasted words! ...Things!" the Duchess slams a hardback copy of Proper Spellings for Proper Ladies of the New Century on the desk.
"If it is 'while', it is 'wile' it is 'vvyl'! It does not matter!" She considers the days of her youth, when such frivolities had yet to exist. "I'll find the... whomever wrote this..." she mutters, "roast her head on a spit."

I have two husbands, and that causes me much trouble and torment of the soul, for I may be with childe by one, and have thus given horns to th'other, who is also a lady, and we have been married first. Now she won't writ to me as we did as girles, and my lawfull husband, I have not yett told, for my condition is not certain yet. I cannot talk in honesty whith one, and with the other husband, neither.
'Tis awkward to speak of this, but if not to your friends online, to whom can one talk of such troubles?

There are thyngs the governement, the Kinge in particular, do not wish you to know about: the Royall Successioun is all made false, for instead of the D. of Yorke, the True Heir to H. M. the Kinge shoud be the Duke of Monmouth, for he was lawfully begot by the Kinge, then married in secret to the late Lucy Walter, and must therefore be accepted as Prince before his uncle the D. of Yorke, who is a Catholick.
All ye good people should speak up against this injustice! If you cannot pledge your life (if there be a fight), or some shillings to the cause, you may help it greatly alreadie by re-bloggying, and bringing this mater to greater awareness!

Why cannot a man haue normall nepheues. One, @je-maintiendrai, is nigh a Puritan in his Protestant fervour, and th'other dispreads falsehoods about the monarcky (and the Roman Church).
I reported the other one, @dukeofm for his libel, in hopes he shall be deactivated, alas th'other I can but block, and not banished from this place. I also hope my daughter the Princess shall divorce him speedilye.
Tonight, I hope to forgett all about this vexing bussinesse by thinking on going a-stag hunting tomorrow with H. M. my brothere, the King.

The most obvious means by which a queen might exercise influence at court was through her close contact with the king in much the same way as other nobles did, although the nature of such influence is impossible to judge because it does not leave records behind. That women would advise their husbands, even kings, was accepted and expected: Christine de Pizan maintained that the wise princess would urge her husband to discuss matters with his councillors, and encourage others to advise him. Jacobus de Cessolis, recognizing that queens would thereby be privy to important matters of state, advised that a queen's 'wysedom ought tappere in spekynge that is to wete that she be secrete and telle not such thynges as ought to be holden secrete'. Queens were of course not exempt from the traditional misogynistic fear of the power of women's words to lure men, as Eve had done, into sin and folly. The fourteenth-century author of The III Consideracions Right Necesserye to the Good Governaunce of a Prince warned
And how be it that a kinge or Prince shulde love his lady and wyf in maner as him self, yit it is nat expedient that he uttyr unto hir, and discloosc the sccrccs, grcctc conscillcs and greet thingcs that he hath doon for his estate and for his landc, nc that in such thing he be governed aftir hir at som tymc, but he shulde allc daycs reserve unto him self the lordship and souvereyntee, or ellys many perilles may betide.
But to be governed was not the same as to be advised and there was also a strong tradition and rich literature of women wisely advising their husbands at all levels of society. This included encouraging a husband to make peace with his subjects or to be more generous to the poor or the Church as well as the familiar motif of intercession in response to a particular plea.

BBC Merlin was already told by Kilgharrah in s2x11 what the Crystal of Neahtid (and by extension Crystal Cave) was used for :D
MERLIN What is the Crystal of Neahtid? KILGHARRAH To those who know how to use it, the Crystal holds great knowledge. MERLIN What kind of knowledge. KILGHARRAH The knowledge of what is, what has been, and what is yet to come. MERLIN Do you mean it can show you the future? KILGHARRAH Amongst other things, yes. MERLIN The Crystal has been stolen.
He was already informed IN S2, the whole time, that the Crystal showed other things aside from "the future." Yet this manservant only fixated on the future part coz of course he would :D
and he also knew that Morgana would never be able to use it.
MERLIN The Lady Morgana. KILGHARRAH (laughs) That witch does not have the power to wield the Crystal. MERLIN Does the druid boy? KILGHARRAH Mordred? It is possible. Why do you ask?
But of course he was more concerned of what a threat the kid Mordred would be and not the clue that only special sorcerers could use that darn thing. :D
MERLIN It's the Crystal. It harbours a terrible power, Gaius. GAIUS It's locked away now. It can do no harm. Unless the damage has already been done. MERLIN I held it. I knew I shouldn't. I knew no good would come of it, but it compelled me to look. I couldn't resist it. I saw things, terrible things. GAIUS Then you've already paid the price. MERLIN But what I saw has not yet come to pass, and I am scared, Gaius. I am really scared of what the future may hold.
And I do understand why he wouldn't touch it right after s2x11 episode...I GET IT THAT HE WAS SCARED.
MERLIN Images. Flashes. I've seen something like this before in the Crystal of Neahtid. TALIESIN What you see here is exactly the same, for the Crystal of Neahtid was hewn from this very cave. Look into them, Emrys. Really look. Much will be revealed.
s3x05 [Merlin turns to look, but jerks away.] MERLIN No! Take me out of here. How do I get back to Arthur? TALIESIN The future is hidden to all but a very few, Emrys. You are one such person. MERLIN No! I've been through this before. TALIESIN Perhaps there is a reason you were brought here at this moment in time. MERLIN What reason? TALIESIN Only the crystals can tell you. They contain futures that are not yet born. The secrets they reveal, Emrys, are unique to you, and you alone. Look into them, Emrys. Really look. Use what you see for good.
but really, to not use it in s3-s5 when they needed information the most??? and when he was already told that he was the only one alive that could use it???
...such cool helpful tool... wasted and abandoned in the camelot vault
BTW TRIVIA! THIS IS ALSO FRENCH MEDIEVAL MERLIN'S POWER BESTOWED TO HIM BY HIS DEMONKIN
But how myght we haue a man of oure kynde that myght speke and haue oure connynge and maystrie worke, and haue the knowleche as we haue of thinges that be don and seide, and of thynges that be past, and that he myght be in erthe conuersant with these other for witeth it wele that soche on myght moche helpe us to be-gile his pepill, like as the prophetes be-giled us, and tolden that we trowe neuer myght haue ben. In the same wise sholde sithe oon telle alle thynges that were don and saide [folio 1b] bothe of that is passed and of thynges that is to come, and be that sholde he be bileved of moche peple.

A Discourse On Flying, And On The Composition Of Our Magickal Oyntment, touching on the chemick thereof, and its variations between oure Trybes
AS all badde vvitches ought to know, be they yonge or aulde, þe flyinge compound can be mayde up unto three different preparations. namely:- (1)st as the oyntmente, for to rub pon de broome and de bodie (2)nd the pouudre, for to be fed to certaiyne prepared beaftes or blowen into the hearthfyre, & (3)rd as an adjunckt to certayne other formulatyons - whych fhall not be touched upon herein thys booke.
OND aye, thare be menie dyvers receipys for thys compound, whych differ yn menie accord tho theyr authors be well respeckted indiuidually, soch as þe uenerable miftrefs crouch, sister bertrille, ond olde granny grayham; whose produckts are well used by us all and are well endorsed by menie a refpected beldam yn oure communitie for menie yeare.
BUT defpite their disagreementes, alle the uarious receipt whych we have received from the auntient & uenerable bookes of oure ancestors do share five thingys yn common. namely:- (1)st is the fatte of bebbes, rendered pure, or else dried foetus, or the braynes of a manne (2)nd the toad, which is variously seethed yn a potte or else roasted yn an oven, or as ye moft auncient do they crucify hym upon the thorne and let the sunne looke upon hym and wither hym on the rood. (3)rd ys the herbal component, which differeth moft between oure uarious schooles, but yet retaineth certayne fimilarities (4)rth be flyes, for how coulde we flie elsewise? and the best kind are dragonflies, but the fecond beft are moths. and (5)th that there must needs have added to it some of the old powdre or oyle, whych ys well-proved and tested, for hyt to werke.
OFCOURSE brothers & fisters, ye all know well how to flie, either by goat or by broome,& may even have brewed oyle yourselves after thyne own houses arte; yea, let us refpect the variance yn each oure cuftoms,& feek to ymprove oure owne houses arte by the confideration of eachothers noble practifes.
HEREIN is the receipt for the flyinge oyntmente and pouudre, from the verie booke of the dread and venerable madame marcouche herself, by her gracyous permifsion , and wyth adjoinyng commentarie by others: FOR THE POUUDER:- whych hys best fit for goatys ond horsys, may, they must be made to grow accustomed to thys, and neuer should hyt be put yn a mannes mouthe. take ye the withered toad and reduce hym to pouvdre bones and all yn a rough mortar, and to this add gunpowder or brimstone, and hot pepper & muftard, ond alfo flies. and hyt fhould fparck as hyt ys grownd upp. forget not alfo the fodder, whych preuenteth the beafte from exploding, & yt ys mayde of herbys whych vary by cuftom. we ufe þe [text is either missing or redacted] and funflower feeds are goode alfo, for they grow ryght talle nigh unto heauen. and [text is either missing or redacted] now, þe fpecyal ingreedient be þe innofant, which where torne from heir muthers wombe, hyt fhould be fmoked slow wyth appelwood, mugwort, & garlick untill hyt be crysp; ond hyt ys bettre to induce þe vyle slutte to offer hyt up willynglie, doynge hyt of her owne freewill, for thys ys more pleafing to oure master than hyt fhould be taken by force or cunnynge. for [text is either missing or redacted] ond hyt ys beft to haruest þe thynge yn þe seuenth moonth. (ond beware false sellers of thys ingrediment, what adulterate their produckt wyth fillers such as talcum powder, chalk, or asbestos. true baby powder as certified by the vvitches council must comprise atleast 72% human foetus by volume. adulteration with llama or horse foetus is also prevalent, as well as the braines of apes or menn.) mix hyt then wyth the othre poudre, and a portion of wellproved pouucler whych ys ould at thy ouun judgemente; and measure the whole yn thy balance untill hyt fhould feem weightless. then hyt ys fed to the beafte, oft myxed with oats to tempt hym to hyt, and atfirst he feeleth no thyng, but then he starteth suddainely! and with fuch fnortynge untill fmoke billoweth from hys noftrils. and hyt ys ryght fport to fee, how he begyneth to fpring to and fro defperate to relieve the difcomfort yn hys bellie, and then he begynth afarting as hys hoovys take up ynto the ayre. and o hys starteld eyes and kicking leggys. and a flame catcheth insyde the beastys belly ond he belcheth and farteth flamys redh, green ,and yellouu. and hyt taketh a true knave to take holde of hym then! he muft be chained atfirst, left he floate awaiye yn thys. and [text is either missing or redacted] and it goeth without sayinge that the beast must alway be rode backwards. and thys stuffe muft never be taken internally by human beings. FOR THE OYLE; or OYNTMENTE:- [much text is missing or redacted] and many a wytch these daies do add gasoline or diesel to their myxture to extend air mileage, but we oulde dames have always ufed no fuch thynge, for hyt ys a ryght earthlie fubftance and [text is either missing or redacted] ond once a broome is bewitched he muft be [text is either missing or redacted]

Lancastrian chroniclers located Henry V’s motive in his respectful piety toward Richard, his childhood king. ‘And anon,’ says one representative summary, ‘the firste yeer of his regne, for the grete and tendre loue that he hadde to King Richard, he translatid his body from Langley vnto Westmystre, and buried him beside Quene Anne his firste wiff, as his desire was.’” Fifteenth-century chronicles emphasized the extent of Henry’s exertions on Richard’s behalf, and their efficacy as well. One end-of-century chronicle in the British Library argues that Henry V set about deliberately to reverse his father’s offense, and notes the differential result of his endeavor (compared with his father’s less materially and spiritually generous response): And for as moche as his fader had deposid by his labour the good kyng Richard and petyously made hym to die…he had sent to Rome to be assoilled therof for which offence the pope our holy fader enioyned hym to make hym be praide for perpetually and… he shuld do founde iiii tapers to bren perpetuelly a boute his body that for the extinction of his bodyly lyffe his soule may euer be remembred and lyve in hevyn in spirituall lyfe. And also that he shuld euery weke on the day as it comyth aboute of his deth haue a solempne masse of requiem on the eyvn to fore a dirige with ix lessons and a dole to pore peple alwey on that day. … And to euery monke to haue xx shillynges which all these thynges performed this noble kyng, for his fader for Kyng Henry the iiii his fader performed not it duryng his lyfe whome as it is said god touched and was a lepre er he dyed. For all the ‘goodnesse’ this chronicle attributes to Henry V, its account introduces his father’s shriveled body as a cautionary reminder of the necessity for restitution in order for subsequent Lancastrians to enjoy unblighted reigns. Emphasis on benignity and love is, in other words, an oversimplification, both of mourning in its more general aspects, and of particular objectives served by the reburial itself.
Paul Strohm, England’s Empty Throne: Usurpation and the Language of Legitimation, 1399-1422 (Yale University Press, 1998)
(n.b. This excerpt is from a chapter that expands on Strohm's article “The Trouble with Richard: The Reburial of Richard II and Lancastrian Symbolic Strategy” which I've previously posted excerpts from. This excerpt, from Strohm's book, is an expansion of a previously posted excerpt.
Strohm's point about Henry IV's "shriveled body" serving as a "cautionary reminder" is gains significance, as Timothy D. Arner points out, "when we know … that Henry V's face bears a scar" and that although the son's face is disfigured in a different way, it would have been read in context of the Lancastrian usurpation and the disfigurement of the father's face. )

And in this he showed me a little thing, the quantity of a hazel nut, lying in the palm of my hand, as it seemed. And it was as round as any ball. I looked upon it with the eye of my understanding, and thought, ‘What may this be?’ And it was answered generally thus, ‘It is all that is made.’ I marveled how it might last, for I thought it might suddenly have fallen to nothing for littleness. And I was answered in my understanding: It lasts and ever shall, for God loves it. And so have all things their beginning by the love of God. In this little thing I saw three properties. The first is that God made it. The second that God loves it. And the third, that God keeps it. And in þis he shewed me a lytil thyng þe quantite of a hasyl nott. lyeng in þe pawme of my hand as it had semed. and it was as rownde as eny ball. I loked þer upon wt þe eye of my vnderstondyng. and I þought what may þis be. and it was answered generally thus. It is all þat is made. I merueled howe it myght laste. for me þought it myght sodenly haue fall to nought for lytyllhed. & I was answered in my vnderstondyng. It lastyth & euer shall for god louyth it. and so hath all thyng his begynning by þe loue of god. In this lytyll thyng I sawe thre propertees. The fyrst is. þt god made it. þe secunde is þet god louyth it. & þe þrid is. þat god kepith it. ― Julian of Norwich, Revelations of Divine Love ch v (Westminster Cathedral Treasury, MS 4)(1373)
