Not really. There are people I admire, but no one I consider 'above' myself. I rather consider myself equal to those around me. Perhaps it's arrogance, but I think my confidence in my writing abilities are fairly well justified. 

Also, I'd rather not list the people I admire publicly, because I know how much it sucks when you see a list like that and you're not on it. Same reason I won't ever make a follow forever.

❣ - An unpopular opinion I have

...About anything? This is a very general question.

Okay, how about this one. It makes me fairly uncomfortable when people say they dislike same-gender pairings as a category, because to me that suggests that they probably aren't thinking about the implications toward real queer people of what they're saying. 

Often people in the RP communities I've been a part of justify themselves by saying that there are a lot of shoddy portrayals of queer pairings — which is most definitely true and is another thing that irritates me sometimes. But the same thing could be said of het pairings, and there aren't a lot of people saying they dislike all het pairings for that reason, yadig?

Now, that's not to say you're not allowed to dislike same-gender pairings. I have plenty under that category which I dislike. The problem is when people generalize in opposition to entire swaths of pairings.

⋆ - A ship I have with my character

Putting aside the obvious ones — that is, 369, Shuuzuru, Renzuru, Ginizu, Rosezuru, Izucest... Hmm, I'm amused by the idea of Rukizuru and here is why. My Izuru was a giant Kuchiki family fanboy as a kid, so when Rukia was adopted by them he was incredibly jealous. If things had gone differently and he wasn't incredibly homosexual I can see this having become a thing. Especially since Byakuya may have been more likely to approve of Izuru as a match for Rukia, since he is a minor noble.

✗ - A ship I can’t stand

Ffff this one is tricky because I almost never actively dislike ships, and the ones I dislike are actively liked by lots of people. I can't even think of any for Izuru. But... let's go with Hitsuhina, for a variety of reasons (mainly that the series steamrolled over Hinamori for the sake of making Hitsugaya angst over her.

Renji knows that makes a solider. And it’s not just the uniform, the weapon at the hip, the scars. 

It’s the loyalty. 

Loyalty is a virtue and a vice, a cure and a poison for an ailment- the need to be accepted and acknowledged, desperation for guidance. And Renji wonders who shut Ikeda out in such a way that she looks to the Sixth Division for support. 

This place it’s cold. It’s people are cold. He himself is often prone to falling to coldness, superseded only by the Captain who’s words cut like his own blade and his love for his subordinates his subverted at best.

And Renji is loyal but that loyalty accompanies so many things- it follows after worship and admiration but also envy and resentment and hate and some feeling that Renji cannot describe but fits very well next to hatred.

Sometimes Renji just

hates the shit out of his Captain.

And then he hates his squad for adoring the one that he hates.

And Ikeda, who he does not hate, is a member of the ranks and Renji sternly hands down orders at her and pushes her as he would any subordinate of his squad and like any subordinate of his squad he mentally asks

is this what you want?

Or is this only what you want to see?

Because he asks the same question to himself nearly every day.
