The ringing of the Jetavana Monastery bells echoeth the unlastingness of all deeds. The hue of the teak tree blossoms unfoldeth the truth that they who fluorish must fall. The Feast of the Ascension.
by Fr. Francis Xavier Weninger, 1876
“And the Lord Jesus was taken up into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God.”–Mark xvi, 19.
The various feasts which we, as children of the Church, are called upon to celebrate throughout the year, invite us to consider, with special attention, and, as it were, to behold in spirit the mysteries of which that tender Mother makes mention herself, in so solemn a manner to us all.
This is particularly so on the festival of today, which commemorates the Ascension of Christ into heaven. We gaze with the disciples into the cloudless sky as if we fain would pierce the secrets of the celestial realm beyond, and witness the entrance of Christ therein. Then the thought arises within us: “O happy Apostles! chosen to behold the Ascension of the Lord; would that we could know the feelings which filled your hearts when you saw Him surrounded by a luminous cloud, disappear from view.”
Beloved in Christ Jesus, I will tell you: Unspeakable longing after heaven took possession of them when they beheld their beloved Master enter therein. The same longing should also fill our heart. O Mary, Queen of heaven, obtain for us that same longing which animated your immaculate heart, to follow your divine Son to the abode of eternal bliss. I speak in the most holy name of Jesus for the greater honor and glory of God.
As I have already said, the feelings of the disciples, as they stood gazing upon Jesus as he faded from their view, were concentrated in one ardent desire for heaven, to be and remain with him there forever. Yes; and so also would we have felt had we been present on Mount Olivet with Mary, the Apostles and disciples, when Christ raised Himself from the ground, blessed them, and, soaring aloft, was seen no more.
“Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye looking up to heaven?” was the question put to them by the Angels; and, my brethren, had I been present, I would have said: “O dear Angels, how can you ask? for, while the favored few, whom Christ selected to witness His wondrous ascension, did certainly congratulate Jesus upon entering His eternal home, they also sighed, from their very hearts, ‘O that we, too, could leave this earth, to be and remain with our beloved Saviour in heaven.'”
This ardent desire is the more important because it is the fundamental condition without which we can not follow the admonition contained in the succeeding words spoken by the angelic messengers: “This Jesus, Who is taken up from you, so shall come again.” He will exact a rigid account from every man as to whether he has fulfilled that end for which God called him into existence, redeemed him, and permitted him to belong to the kingdom of His Church.
Upon the eve of His Ascension, Christ declared that He would send His disciples to the confines of the earth; and that they might be better enabled to proclaim His word, He would prepare them with the strength of the Holy Ghost. For only those who combat and conquer, who work for and with Jesus, who complete the work on earth for which God created them, and remain faithful, receive a beauteous crown in heaven.
Besides the strength God the Holy Ghost bestows, that divine Spirit also implants in the heart another disposition–a longing to accomplish something for God. This is confirmed by numerous examples of heroic actions, performed by those who, devoting their lives to sanctity, listened to and acted upon the inspirations of that divine Spirit. What wonderful things have been accomplished, even according to the testimony of our own experience, at the price of innumerable sacrifices and hardships, from the impulse and through the strength of this ardent desire! This has also its perfect application in the great affair of salvation.
Whoever meditates as he should upon heaven, feels strong enough to labor, to struggle, and to suffer for it, in faithful perseverance, unto the end. And what should be more easy than for every faithful child of the Church to excite in his heart this longing desire? Consider how many and what powerful motives there are to increase it therein! Let us devote some moments to these considerations; and with the divine blessing, even as the words fall from my lips, this desire for heaven will arise and increase in our hearts.
Behold, in spirit, Christ ascending to heaven, and say, within yourselves, Dear Jesus, where are you going? O beautiful country! how I sigh after thee. Here is the land of our exile; there, our eternal home. Here are hunger and thirst; there, an excess of delight. Here, lamentation and wailing; there, the security of bliss. Here is poverty and nakedness; there, the glorious vesture of heaven, decorated with the diamonds of merit, acquired by our good works upon earth. Here we have no lasting dwelling; there, when the Christian enters upon the reward of a well-spent life, he can exclaim: “Heaven is mine; all is mine; I enter the dwelling which Jesus prepared for me, and ascend a royal throne, whereon I will be crowned with a radiant diadem forever.”
Here there is a never-ceasing sound of wailing, as human hearts grow faint with the burden of sorrow; there, in heaven, the eternal Alleluia resounds, and never for one moment does the celestial music of angelic voices cease. Here is the labor; there, rest and quiet–the reward; and O what a reward! Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard; nor hath it ever entered into the heart of man to conceive what God hath prepared for those who love Him. Here we must endure mortification and persecution; there, we shall enjoy a peace which passeth all understanding.
Here we are subject to temptations; there, no thought of evil can come. Here it is constant struggle; there, is the triumph attained. Here the world, and those who are of the world, strive only for the possession of creatures; there, the sole desire of the blessed is to see and possess God Himself in His infinite perfection and beatitude. Here a shadow rests upon our brightest hours,– the thought of the impending separation from our loved ones by death; there, neither sorrow nor death can enter; and the union among the blessed and with God will be eternal.
Blessed Egidius! when we think of these striking contrasts, we can not wonder that the very mention of heaven–“Paradise”–threw your soul into an ecstatic state, while your ardent desire after its joys raised your body from the ground as if your spirit longed to soar.
Yes, beautiful Heaven! the ardent desire of my heart, who will give me wings like a dove, to fly from this valley of tears, and rest on the mountain of bliss? But this necessitates labor, struggling, suffering. And what, beloved in Christ, will make this suffering light? what but this ardent desire of heaven!
See the laborer as he goes forth to his daily toil, willing to endure all, and leave himself no rest, for he knows that the more diligently he works, the greater will be his gain. And daily experience proves, that it is the same in every walk of life; yet how poor and trifling, how infinitely small, is the richest guerdon which the world can give compared to the reward which awaits us in heaven for every meritorious' work performed by us on earth. How worthless should the world's rewards appear when we think how soon they pass away! How infinitely great should we deem the ones which never, never end! How brave and determined the warrior who knows that, if he return from the conflict with the laurel wreath of victory, his fortune is assured! How willingly he risks that life, which is to him so precious, for the hope of a possible reward. How bravely, therefore, my dearest Christians, should not you be able to combat, having in view the hope of Heaven– the crown of eternal victory!
Men have borne, with the greatest patience, the most painful operations, with a view to saving life or limb. Strive, therefore, to bear with patience the sorrows and trials of earth, to save your immortal souls. Oh, let us never forget the heaven which may be all our own! Let us think of it, not only while we celebrate this glorious festival, but long after it has passed away, that we may so live that, when we close our eyes to earthly things, we may, without delay, ascend to that bright and glorious home to dwell with Christ in Heaven for evermore. Amen.
“They going forth preached every-where, and the Lord working withal, confirming the word with signs that followed.”–Mark xvi, 20.
Jesus had entered into glory, and still the disciples remained spell-bound, gazing after Him with irrepressible yearning to follow Him to that heavenly home, whither He went to prepare a dwelling for the souls He had redeemed.
Suddenly, as the Evangelist St. Luke relates, there appeared to the Apostles two Angels clad in white robes of golden glory, who thus addressed them: “Ye men of Galilee, why stand you looking up to heaven? This Jesus, who is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come, as you have seen Him going into heaven.” This is the explanation of the above: “As surely as you have witnessed the departure of your blessed Saviour, so surely will He come again. He will come not in His humiliation, but in the full splendor of His incomparable Majesty, to you, as well as to the whole world.”
Jesus raised Himself on high and entered heaven as Conqueror over death and hell; and once again He will come, not as Reconciler, but as Judge. Can we endure the penetrating glance of His all-seeing eye; that eye which will, as it were, search into the very marrow of our souls? It depends very much upon ourselves. If we have during life been disposed as were the disciples on Mount Olivet on Ascension-day, there will be no terror for us in the coming of Christ at the end of the world.
O Mary, Queen of angels, to whom it was granted to be assumed body and soul into heaven, and to sit enthroned at the right hand of your divine Son, bless and protect us, that we may one day behold the bliss of heaven! I speak in the most holy name of Jesus, for the greater honor of God!
Deep in the human heart there lingers sweet hope of ascending at last to heaven. There is scarce a sinner, be he ever so abandoned, that does not cherish the hope that by some unlooked-for grace he will behold his glorified Saviour. It is true that sincere, even if tardy, repentance can win forgiveness for any crime, no matter how great; yet we must not expect to be called by wonderful ways; but, to insure to ourselves the eventual possession of that exquisite bliss, we must, during our whole lives, look up to heaven with affections similar to those of the disciples as they looked after Jesus when He soared aloft beyond the skies. It was, above all, the wish to enter heaven with Him which animated them when they, after He had disappeared from their view, stood spellbound, looking up as if they could still behold His beloved face. I have already touched upon this disposition of ardent desire, but after the address of the angels there were other affections which deeply moved their hearts.
First, they congratulated Jesus upon His entrance into glory. In proportion to the compassion with which His humiliation and bitter sufferings had inspired them, they now rejoiced; and repressing their grief at His departure, felicitated Him upon having ascended to heaven. They stood upon Mount Olivet, that spot so rich in sacred memories,–that spot where the agony of the Son of God forced blood from His pores. Their feet touched the ground once moistened by that precious blood; and with these thoughts welling up in their hearts, they might well exclaim: “According to the afflictions of my heart, consolations have rejoiced my soul.”
The disciples rejoiced with Jesus, especially at the assurance He gave them: “I go to prepare for you a lasting dwelling,” and now they perceived more clearly than ever the grand and majestic character of the happiness which had been conferred upon them, of beholding the incarnate Son of God,–that happiness after which Abraham and the prophets had so ardently longed,–yet which they were not permitted to enjoy, with the exception of Moses and Elias.
They now understood the favor which had been meted out to them, and blessed the Saviour that they had received from His lips the word of salvation; that they had walked by His side, and had had constant personal intercourse with Him. They thanked Him with the most intense fervor of heart for their call to the true faith, and for their election, according to the Saviour's promise, to proclaim the word of life to the very extremities of the earth, and to distribute to the children of men the treasures of the Redemption, by propagating the true Church to which had been bequeathed such fruitful means of salvation.
And it was not merely sensible affections of the heart which so deeply moved them; for they, at the same time, made firm resolutions, with the assistance of divine grace, to fulfill their calling faithfully, and to obey the precept which had been given them, to await at Jerusalem, in prayer, the coming of the Holy Ghost, the Paraclete. And this, my brethren, should be the disposition of our hearts upon this glorious day.
Let us exult and praise the Lord for His Majesty; for if we love Jesus more than ourselves, we should rejoice at His Ascension to such a kingdom of delight. What exultation must expand the heart of the Christian who really loves Him, as he recalls today the words of the psalm which prophetically describes the Ascension of Christ: “Be ye lifted up, O eternal gates, for the King of Glory approaches!” and behold in spirit the myriads of Angels coming from heaven to meet Him, entoning the Alleluia of victory before the Lord.
We should also imitate the Apostles and disciples in their gratitude; for if we reflect that we have been called to the true faith through no merit of our own, while the souls of millions who might have responded more fully to the grace of God, and availed themselves more frequently of the means provided by Him to help us on our heavenward way, are left in the darkness of error. What cause for thankfulness is the certainty that we are on the right path to salvation, and that if we really wish to attain it, we can do so through Jesus Christ our Lord. We should also thank God that we, as children of the true Church, may lead other souls thereto, and thus propagate His kingdom. There is no other way to heaven than that which Jesus trod, the way of struggle, labor, and toil,–of self-denial, mortification, and tears–no other way, in short, than the royal road of the holy cross.
But heaven is worth it all, and when well nigh fainting in the conflict, the Christian should think of the Saviour, Who, in His painful walk to Calvary, faltered and fell three times; and, taking courage, exclaim with St. Paul: “I can do all in Him who strengthens me.” The same Holy Ghost, promised and sent by Christ to His Apostles and disciples; He has, according to St. John, promised to us also; and He will send Him if we, by zealous and fervent prayer, prepare our hearts for His reception. The Apostles and their companions at Jerusalem did so. And after that happy event they immediately ordained deacons for the service of the Church, that they might themselves have more time for prayer and union with God.
Let us, then, beloved in Christ, imitate their example, by an increase of zeal in prayer, as we celebrate this festive day. Let us, in spirit, place ourselves in their midst, and imagine the deep emotion with which we would have fallen at the feet of Christ and embraced them, had we been witnesses of this happy meeting between Him and His holy Mother, and faithful friends. With what ardor we would have implored Him to remember us before His Father in heaven, and promised to do His holy will in all things, that we might one day follow Him to the realms of everlasting bliss.
If we possess these affections, and fulfill the resolutions arising therefrom; if we think constantly of heaven, and live only for it, then most assuredly will we courageously combat those enemies who would fain deprive us of its celestial joys; and having borne the cross on earth, we shall wear an eternal crown above. Amen!
FEAST OF THE ASCENSION by Fr. Prosper Gueranger 1870 The sun of the fortieth day has risen in all his splendor. The earth, which shook with gladness at the Birth of our Emmanuel (Ps. xcv. xcvi. xcvii.), now thrills with a strange emotion. The divine series of the mysteries of the Man-God is about to close. Heaven has caught up the joy of earth. The Angelic Choirs are preparing to receive their promised King, and their Princes stand at the Gates, that they may open them when the signal is given of the mighty Conqueror's approach (Ibid. xxiii. 7). The holy souls, that were liberated from Limbo on the morning of the Resurrection, are hovering round Jerusalem, waiting for the happy moment when Heaven's gate, closed by Adam's sin, shall be thrown open, and they shall enter in company with their Redeemer: a few hours more, and then to Heaven! Meanwhile, our Risen Jesus has to visit His Disciples and bid them farewell, for they are to be left, for some years longer, in this vale of tears.
They are in the Cenacle, impatiently awaiting His coming. Suddenly He appears in their midst. Of the Mother's joy, who would dare to speak? As to the Disciples and the holy Women, they fall down and affectionately adore the Master, Who has come to take His leave of them. He deigns to sit down to table with them; He even condescends to eat with them, not, indeed, to give them proof of His Resurrection, for He knows that they have no further doubts of the mystery, but now that He is about to sit at the right hand of the Father, He would give them this endearing mark of familiarity. O admirable repast! in which Mary, for the last time in this world, is seated side by side with her Jesus, and in which the Church, (represented by the Disciples and the holy Women,) is honored by the visible presidency of her Head and Spouse.
What tongue could describe the respect, the recollected mien, the attention of the guests? With what love must they not have riveted their eyes on the dear Master? They long to hear him speak; his parting words will be so treasured! He does not keep them long in suspense; He speaks, but his language is not what they perhaps expected it to be, all affection. He begins by reminding them of the incredulity wherewith they heard of His Resurrection (St. Mark, xvi. 14). He is going to entrust His Apostles with the most sublime mission ever given to man; He would, therefore, prepare them for it by humbling them. A few days hence, and they are to be lights of the world; the world must believe what they preach, believe it on their word, believe it without having seen, believe what the Apostles alone have seen. It is by Faith that man approaches His God: they themselves were once without it, and Jesus would have them now express their sorrow for their former incredulity, and thus base their Apostolate on humility.
Then assuming a tone of authority, such as none but a God could take, He says to them: Go ye into the whole world, and preach the Gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized, shall be saved: but he that believeth not, shall be condemned (Ibid. xvi. 15, 16). And how shall they accomplish this mission of preaching the Gospel to the whole world? how shall they persuade men to believe their word? By Miracles. And these signs, continues Jesus, shall follow them that believe: in My name, they shall cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they shall drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay their hands upon the sick, and they shall recover (St. Mark, svi. 17, 18). He would have Miracles to be the foundation of his Church, just as He had made them the argument of His own divine mission. The suspension of the laws of nature proves to us that it is God Who speaks; we must receive the word, and humbly believe it.
Here, then, we have men unknown to the world and devoid of every human means, and yet commissioned to conquer the earth and make it acknowledge Jesus as its King! The world ignores their very existence. Tiberius, who sits on the imperial throne, trembling at every shadow of conspiracy, little suspects that there is being prepared an expedition which is to conquer the Roman Empire. But these warriors must have their armour, and the armour must be of heaven's own tempering. Jesus tells them that they are to receive it a few days hence. Stay, says He, in the city, till ye be endued with power from on high (St. Lluke, xxiv. 49). But what is this armour? Jesus explains it to them. He reminds them of the Father's promise, that promise, says He, which ye have heard by my mouth: for John, indeed, baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence (Acts, i. 4, 5).
But the hour of separation is come. Jesus rises: His blessed Mother, and the hundred and twenty persons assembled there, prepare to follow Him. The Cenacle is situated on Mount Sion, which is one of the two hills within the walls of Jerusalem. The holy group traverses the city, making for the eastern Gate, which opens on the Valley of Josaphat. It is the last time that Jesus walks through the faithless City. He is invisible to the eyes of the people who denied Him, but visible to His Disciples, and goes before them, as, heretofore, the pillar of fire led on the Israelites. How beautiful and imposing a sight! Mary, the Disciples, and the holy Women, accompanying Jesus in His Heaven-ward journey, which is to lead Him to the right hand of His Eternal Father! It was commemorated in the Middle-Ages by a solemn Procession before the Mass of Ascension Day. What happy times were those, when Christians took delight in honouring every action of our Redeemer! They could not be satisfied, as we are, with a few vague notions, which can produce nothing but an equally vague devotion.
They reflected on the thoughts which Mary must have had during these last moments of her Son's presence. They used to ask themselves, which of the two sentiments were uppermost in her maternal heart, sadness, that she was to see her Jesus no more? or joy, that He was now going to enter into the glory He so infinitely deserved? The answer was soon found: had not Jesus said to His Disciples: If ye loved me, ye would indeed be glad, because I go to the Father (St. John, xiv. 28)? Now, who loved Jesus as Mary did? The Mother's heart, then, was full of joy at parting with Him. How was she to think of herself, when there was question of the triumph of her Son and her God? Could she that had witnessed the scene of Calvary do less than desire to see Him glorified, Whom she knew to be the Sovereign Lord of all things, Him Whom, but a short time ago, she had seen rejected by His people, blasphemed, and dying the most ignominious and cruel of deaths?
The holy group has traversed the Valley of Josaphat; it has crossed the brook Cedron, and is moving onwards to Mount Olivet. What recollections would crowd on the mind! This torrent, of which Jesus had drunk on the day of His humiliation, is now the path He takes to triumph and glory. The Royal Prophet had foretold it (Ps. cix. 7). On their left, are the Garden and Cave, where He suffered His Agony and accepted the bitter Chalice of His Passion. After having come as far as what St. Luke calls the distance of the journey allowed to the Jews on a sabbath-day (Acts, i. 12), they are close to Bethania, that favoured village, where Jesus used to accept hospitality at the hands of Lazarus and his two Sisters. This part of Mount Olivet commands a view of Jerusalem. The sight of its Temple and Palaces makes the Disciples proud of their earthly city: they have forgotten the curse uttered against her; they seem to have forgotten, too, that Jesus has just made them citizens and conquerors of the whole world. They begin to dream of the earthly grandeur of Jerusalem, and, turning to their Divine Master, they venture to ask him this question: Lord, wilt thou, at this time, restore again the kingdom to Israel (Acts, i. 6)?
Jesus answers them with a tone of severity: It is not for you to know the times or moments which the Father hath put in His own power (Ibid. 7). These words do not destroy the hope that Jerusalem is to be restored by the Christian Israel; but, as this is not to happen till the world is drawing towards its end, there is nothing that requires our Saviour's revealing the secret. What ought to be uppermost in the mind of the Disciples, is the conversion of the pagan world, the establishing the Church. Jesus reminds them of the mission He has just given to them: Ye shall receive, says He, the power of the Holy Ghost coming upon you; and ye shall be witnesses unto Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and Samaria, and even to the uttermost part of the earth (Acts, i. 8).
According to a tradition, which has been handed down from the earliest ages of Christianity (Constit. Apost., lib. v. cap. xix), it is mid-day, the same hour that He had been raised up, when nailed to His Cross. Giving His Blessed Mother a look of filial affection, and another of fond farewell to the rest of the group that stand around him, Jesus raises up His hands and blesses them all. Whilst thus blessing them, He is raised up from the ground whereon He stands, and ascends into heaven (St. Luke, xxiv. 51). Their eyes follow Him, until a cloud comes and receives Him out of their sight (Acts, i. 9).
Yes, Jesus is gone! The earth has lost her Emmanuel! For four thousand years had He been expected: the Patriarchs and Prophets had desired His coming with all the fervour of their souls: He came: His love made Him our captive in the chaste womb of the Virgin of Nazareth. It was there He first received our adorations. Nine months after, the Blessed Mother offered Him to our joyous love in the Stable at Bethlehem. We followed Him into Egypt; we returned with Him; we dwelt with Him at Nazareth. When He began the three years of His public Life, we kept close to His steps; We delighted in being near Him, we listened to His preaching and parables, we saw His miracles. The malice of His enemies reached its height, and the time came wherein He was to give us the last and grandest proof of the love that had brought Him from heaven, His dying for us on a Cross; we kept near Him as He died, and our souls were purified by the Blood that flowed from His Wounds. On the third day, He rose again from His Grave, and we stood by exulting in His triumph over Death, for that triumph won for us a like Resurrection. During the Forty days He has deigned to spend with us since His Resurrection, our faith has made us cling to Him: we would fain have kept Him with us forever, but the hour is come; He has left us; yes, our dearest Jesus is gone! O happy the souls that He had taken from Limbo! they have gone with Him, and, for all eternity, are to enjoy the heaven of His visible presence.
The Disciples are still steadfastly looking up towards heaven, when lo! two angels, clad in white robes, appear to them, saying: Ye men of Galilee! why stand ye looking up to heaven? This Jesus, Who is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come as ye have seen Him going into heaven (Acts, i. 10, 11)! He has ascended, a Saviour; He is to return, as Judge; between these two events is comprised the whole life of the Church on earth. We are therefore living under the reign of Jesus as our Saviour, for He has said: God sent not His Son into the world to Judge the world, but that the world might be Saved by Him (St. Joh, iii. 17): and to carry out this merciful design He has just been giving to His Disciples the mission to go throughout the whole world, and invite men, whilst yet there is time, to accept the mystery of Salvation.
What a task is this He imposes on the Apostles! and now that they are to begin their work, He leaves them! They return from Mount Olivet, and Jesus is not with them! And yet, they are not sad; they have Mary to console them; her unselfish generosity is their model, and well do they learn the lesson.
They love Jesus; they rejoice at the thought of His having entered into His rest. They went back into Jerusalem with great joy (St. Luke, xxiv. 52). These few simple words of the Gospel indicate the spirit of this admirable Feast of the Ascension: it is a Festival, which, notwithstanding its soft tinge of sadness, is, more than any other, expressive of joy and triumph. During its Octave, we will endeavour to describe its mystery and magnificence: we would only observe, for the present, that this Solemnity is the completion of the Mysteries of our Redemption; that it is one of those which were instituted by the Apostles (St. Augustine, EP. ad Januar); and finally, that it has impressed a character of sacredness on the Thursday of each week, the day already so highly honoured by the institution of the Eucharist.
We have alluded to the Procession, whereby our Catholic forefathers used, on this Feast, to celebrate the journey of Jesus and His Disciples to Mount Olivet. Another custom observed on the Ascension, was the solemn blessing given to bread and to the new fruits: it was commemorative of the farewell repast taken by Jesus in the Cenacle. Let us imitate the piety of the Ages of Faith, when Christians loved to honour the very least of our Saviour's actions, and, so to speak, make them their own, by thus interweaving the minutest details of His Life into their own. What earnest reality of love and adoration was given to our Jesus in those olden times, when His being Sovereign Lord and Redeemer was the ruling principle of both individual and social life! Now-a-days, we may follow the principle, as fervently as we please, in the privacy of our own consciences, or, at most, in our own homes; but publicly, and when we are before the World, no! To say nothing of the evil results of this modern limitation of Jesus' rights as our King, what could be more sacrilegiously unjust to Him Who deserves our whole service, everywhere and at all times? The Angels said to the Apostles: This Jesus shall come, as ye have seen Him going into heaven: happy we, if, during His absence, we shall have so unreservedly loved and served Him, as to be able to meet Him with confidence when He comes to judge us!
FEAST OF THE ASCENSION by Fr. Raphael Frassinetti, 1900
Gospel. Mark xvi. 14 – 20. At that time as the eleven were at the table, Jesus appeared to them, and upbraided them with their incredulity and hardness of heart: because they did not believe them who had seen Him after He was risen again. And He said to them: Go ye into the whole world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized, shall be saved: but he that believeth not shall be condemned. And these signs shall follow them that believe: In my name they shall cast out devils: they shall speak with new tongues: they shall take up serpents: and if they shall drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them: they shall lay their hands upon the sick, and they shall recover. And the Lord Jesus, after He had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God. But they going forth preached everywhere, the Lord working withal, and confirming the word with signs that followed.
After Our Lord had consoled the Apostles by appearing to them at different times, and by wishing them peace, He declared at last that He was about to leave this world and ascend to heaven “to prepare a place for them.”
On this day, for the last time, He came to visit the Apostles. He promised to send them the divine Spirit, the Spirit of strength and wisdom. He said that the time had arrived for Him to go from them to remain in the enjoyment of His peace. He raised His hands, blessed them, and took leave of them all, as well as of His dear Mother. He then conducted them to the Mount of Olives. There they listened to His words, with their eyes fixed upon Him, when suddenly He was raised above them; higher and higher still He was borne, until a light cloud withdrew Him from their sight. While they were beholding Him going up to heaven, suddenly two angels stood by them, who said, “Ye men of Galilee, why stand you looking up to heaven?” This same Jesus whom you have just seen ascending into heaven will return again at the end of the world to judge mankind. He will then appear in the same form in which you have just seen Him. You ought then, my dear young friends, joyfully do all that He has commanded you before He left you, that you may be well received by Him on His return. The disciples fell to the ground and adored their Lord and Master, and then returned to Jerusalem; where they retired to a quiet place, and remained in prayer until the coming of the Holy Ghost.
My dear young people, who can imagine the great triumph with which the King of glory was received on His entrance into heaven. The whole court of heaven was there, ready to meet its Master and Creator. All came forward to make their submission to the great Conqueror of the world and the devil, who has returned in triumph. These good souls must have been in an ecstasy of joy when they saw the great Hero; they looked with wonder on those wounds, which shone like stars. As He entered heaven they joined Him singing hymns and canticles to the great glory of God; then they conducted Him to His throne in heaven, where He sits at the right hand of His Father.
Our Lord, my dear young friends, left this world and ascended into heaven, to prepare a place for us; we had lost heaven, but He regained it for us. He again opened heaven to us, that pleasant, happy place, which will be our home for all eternity. As long as we live on this earth, we shall have to suffer many evils, sickness, and, finally, death, but in heaven we shall have everything; riches, happiness, enjoyment; we shall be inebriated with torrents of delight. The angels will be our companions, the saints will be there, and Mary and Jesus, too. We shall enjoy the happiness that God gives; we shall see God's omnipotence, with which He created heaven and earth; we shall see His wisdom and providence, by which all created things are governed; we shall see all the perfections and attributes of God clearly. We shall then see the Son of God in the Godhead, and Jesus in His divine person. We shall be filled with the Holy Ghost. We shall see God in the splendor of His glory on a throne of majesty; the centre and source of all the joy and brightness of heaven. If one little drop of that heavenly joy should fall from heaven into hell, it would sweeten the dreadful pains that are felt there.
But, my dear young friends, remember that if you wish to attain the possession of this happiness and to reign with Jesus, you must not look for your heaven here on this earth; those who enjoy this world will hardly enjoy heaven. Many wish to give full sway to their passions here, and then expect to have the reward of heaven also. But they are foolish, for if they indulge their passions here in this world, they defile their souls, and cannot enter heaven. If you want to get to heaven, keep the law of God, keep the commandments of the Church, observe the laws of the state, and you will have a right to its joys.
Not only should we observe the commandments of God, but we must also join to it the imitation of Jesus Christ if we wish to possess the place which He has prepared for us in heaven. My dear children, Jesus Christ is the model that is set before us and we must imitate Him just as the artist does who has a model before him; he marks the outlines, and then faithfully follows every lineament, every particular feature with the most scrupulous exactness. Have you so far endeavored to model your lives on that of Jesus Christ? “Put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ,” so that those who see you will say, “this is a faithful imitator of the divine Master.” It is easy to recognize the original and the faithful copy.
Jesus, my dear young people, is the lily of the valley, the immaculate Lamb. Here is a very important virtue. Do you possess that scrupulous purity of thought and action which renders man like the angels? Jesus was obedient, obedient even unto death. What are the inclinations which most young people follow? They are disobedient and rebellious, independent and loving liberty; they are constantly looking for pleasure, so that life loses the necessary seriousness which belongs to it. What a difference between their life and that of Christ! Your whole effort, my dear children, should be to imitate Jesus in the purity of His life, in His obedience to the divine will, and His respect for authority. Lead a mortified life, joyfully accepting all the trials you may meet with here on this earth, and then shall come true as St. Paul says, “As you are partakers of the sufferings, so shall you be also of the consolation.”
A young man once came to St. Jerome and said he desired to abandon the world, to follow Jesus and to imitate Him. He was rich. St. Jerome voluntarily accepted him among his disciples, but he took him aside and gave him a little instruction. First he said, “Son, our life is a very hard one, as you see; we have no shoes, our clothes are coarse, we have to bear the cold and the heat in our houses; to endure abuses and hard words from people and violent temptations from the devil. I know not whether you can endure all this; you seem to have been brought up tenderly and in luxury.” The young man answered, “Am I more delicate than Jesus was when He walked about without shoes, suffered hunger and thirst, cold and heat, many persecutions and at last death? He has promised to help me: had I twenty bodies I would sacrifice them all for His love.”
O, my dear young people, if you will reflect seriously but for a moment, you will see that the imitation of Jesus Christ is a necessity. “I have given you an example that as I have done to you, so you do also.” Jesus desires you all to be in paradise. Do you not wish to go there? Yes, certainly; everybody expects to go to heaven; it is the greatest insult even to intimate to your friend that there is a danger of his going to hell.
Do, then, as the Apostles did. When they saw Our Lord ascend and taken away from them their hearts followed Him because they had no interest except in the glory of Jesus and the spread of His kingdom on earth. They desired trials, torments, persecutions, even violent deaths in order to be the sooner with Christ. They disliked the world and all its vanities. Let us not put our love on the things of this earth; let us look up to heaven, where our home is. Let us suffer, let us labor hard, let us employ all our time in this life, and so deserve a heavenly reward.

Who Do You Follow?
The Influence of Those You Follow
Who do you follow, and how do they influence your life? Do they affect the way you think, or act? If you’re on social media, do they sway what you post or how you respond to others? Do they cause you to experience peace, or anxiety? Do you want to be like them?
Following people can be a trap, which insnares your heart and mind into believing non-biblical concepts. Some who are held in high esteem look successful by world standards; however, their beliefs and attitudes do not necessarily line up with the Word of God. Can you learn some things from said individuals? Sure, but beware of picking up things that are not Christlike.
They include such things as a political spirit, unforgiveness, greed masquerading as a virtue. Not to mention pride. These are elements of the world, which are to be shunned by disciples of Jesus Christ.
1 John 2:15-17 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
“I  follow Jesus!” That being the case, perhaps it would be prudent to ask Him who you should follow. By the way, this is far more encompassing than social media. It includes spiritual leaders, and places of worship. He knows who is pure in heart, and would edify you in a godly manner. Likewise, he knows who would negatively affect you, and even go so far as to lead you astray. Compare what they do and say with Scripture. Do they instill wisdom from Above, or that of the world (see James 3:13-18).
2 Corinthians 8:5 And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God.
Only by the will of God did the church at Macedonia followed Paul and those with him. Paul’s heart was that believers who followed him, would follow Jesus Who lived in him. He did not want their admiration; he wanted them adore Christ. Many people desire followers for the sake of their ego. They make themselves look good to aspire others to be like them, but God gets no glory. Jesus warned about wanting human admiration.
John 5:43-44 I am come in My Father's name, and ye receive Me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive. How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?
The Bible also warns about comparing ourselves with one another. Those who follow others may find themselves playing comparison game. This too is another snare in which some who follow others fall prey. It can wreak havoc when it comes identity.
2 Corinthians 10:12 For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.
How Do You Follow?
What does your following Jesus look like? Does it include denying yourself, taking up your cross and following Him (see Matthew 16:24-25)? Some say they follow Jesus, but they merely include Him in their life. In essence, they want Heaven minus complete surrender. They want the blessings of God with no commitment. You might say they want Jesus to follow them.
2 Corinthians 5:14-15 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if One died for all, then were all dead: And that He died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto Him which died for them, and rose again.
It’s easy to lose sight being bought with a price, and we’re not our own (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). We are called upon to glorify Him, as we are His temple. Life is far less meaningful when one lives for his or her self. The more you make it about you, the less joy you experience.
Many already do this, however, one way to allow Jesus to more fully influence your life is to spend time with Him alone, first thing each day. No phone, TV, email and so on. Creating space for God allows Him to speak to your heart, give you revelation and direction. By His grace, it helps you connect to confidence in Him, as you face whatever comes with the day.
Psalm 91:1-2 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust.

chennai to shirdi flight packages
Life story of sai baba
Long time ago, at the beginning of eighteenth century a young bearded man with sparkling eyes took shelter in a mosque, in Shirdi Village (of Maharshtra State, In India). Nobody knew from where this stranger had come who hardly spoke a word and stayed there.
Gradually the curious villagers started offering food to the man, but he never asked anything from them. Sometimes he shared his food with the animals. Soon the young fakir, as he was started to be addressed, started  expressing his view points with few elderly villagers. His simple language of  chennai to shirdi flight packages  expression   and his special power of solving the problems of poor needy and destitutes soon made this less known fakir, known as Shri Sai Baba. As the days passed, devotees started streaming into Shirdi    in ever growing numbers. The village was fast becoming a centre of pilgrimage. As gifts and presentations flowed in, the pomp and ceremony of Sai worship were evolving. Everyday Sai Baba would be a pauper having distributed all among the needy and the poor. But Sai Baba's life of a Fakir remained calm, undisturbed, unaltered and therein is the saint's Spiritual glory.
People also realised that this "Baba" was no ordinary person but a person with extraordinary godly powers. Such powers are not known or present in normal human beings. Baba preached his principle of love and faith in humanity to all his disciples. He always felt anguished over the fact that all those who came to him were more for their own personal problems and not for attaining the ultimate goal of reaching God which he felt could be attained only by true servicing of humanity.
Sai Baba strongly believed in uniformity of religion and he never distinguished anyone on the basis of caste, creed or religion. He always made it a point not to return empty handed those who had come to him in their hour of need and grief. He performed miracles to alleviate the suffering of poor people. On one occasion he restored the eyes of a blind elderly and in another occasion he lighted a lantern with water when there was no oil to burn it.
As all good things have to end ultimately "Baba" also left his body on his own will on 15th Oct. 1918, leaving his millions of believers and followers crying. His body was laid in the Samadhi Mandir called "Booty", which he had asked his disciple to built before his death.
Sai Baba was Unique, in that, he lived his message through the Essence of his Being. His life and relationship with the common man was his teaching. The lmmense Energy that was manifest in the body of Sai was  chennai to shirdi flight packages  moving and is still moving in a mysterious way, creating and recreating itself everywhere, beyond the comprehension of time and space.Yet, he lived with the common folk as a penniless fakir, wearing a torn kafni, sleeping over a mat while resting his head on a brick, begging for his food. He radiated a mysterious smile and a deep inward look, of a peace that passeth all    understanding. He was always and ever aware of what transpired within the hearts and minds of everyone, whether they be, His devotees or not. This Omnipresent and Omniscient Sri Sai Baba who left his mortal body in 1918, is the living spiritual force that is drawing people from all walks of life, from all parts of the world, into his fold, today.Sri Sai Baba lived, acted and behaved as only a "God descended on Earth" can. He came to serve mankind, to free them from the clutches of fear.
His most concise message for one and all alike was "Why fear when I am here". To take refuge in Sai, is to enter into ajourney to reach the Divine Oasis of Love and drink deep from the Fountain of Life, the source of all Spiritual Energy.Wherever the devotee is, Baba makes him recognize within himself his highest     aspirations and goal and at one stroke, his conduct and the attitude to fellow beings is touched with the awareness of love, understanding, patience and faith. This is the promise that Sri Sai Baba holds out to all who come to Him. Sri Sai Baba was beyond the limitations of Time and Space and thus caste, creed, position dogmas and doctrines were fundamentally unimportant to him. Nobody really knew his parentage, where he came from or which religion he practised. He claimed no possessions nor accepted any disciples or gave any specific teaching.
This anonymity lent a strange facet to his interaction with the people who came to him for guidance. To the Hindus he was an orthodox Brahmin, with a sacred fire, enjoining the worship of many gods and the devout study of various Hindu scriptures. He lived in a mosque but always referred to it as "Dwarkamay!" (Lord Krishna's birth place is Dwaraka). To the Moslems he was a fakir living in a mosque observing the disciplines of Islam, uttering "Allah Malik" (God is the master) guiding Muslim seekers along the lines c)f their own religion. To the Parsis he was the sacred rire worshipper. His life was a living manifestation c)f the Sermon of the Christ and of the Eight-fold path of the Buddha.
Sai Baba's attraction and appeal lie in this fact that he was a perfect model of the harmony of all religions, for whom this world - with all its sectarian and religious antagonism, had been waiting. Sai Baba lived to awaken and lead mankind to the varities of spiritual life. He set in motion a wave of spirituality, which is now spreading all over the globe. All his life's activities constituted the upliftment of mankind. By first conferring temporal benefits, he drew unto himself countless souls caught up in ignorance (darkness) and opened their eyes to the true meaning of life. The miracles which manifested through Sai Baba were just such as were needed to create faith in the people and to make his devotees ethically and spiritually better evolved. Baba did not purposefully perform miracles to show his powers. The very strength of his perfect realisation, in its interaction with nature, caused "the miracle" to take place. Thus he drew people from their deluded pursuits after earthly objects of a transitory nature and induced and inspired them to strive for self-realisation. He continued this glorious work until the last moment of his human embodiment in Shirdi.
Amazingly, there are a phenomenally large number of Instances in which Sai Baba has been literally physically appearing before his devotees, even decades after his passing out of the physical body. Sai Baba is constantly and simultaneously proving that he Is alive in spirit and responds to our sincere prayers. He Is the One Spirit of all existence. which is God in all the forms of God, in all the saints, in all the men and in all the creatures. All those who sincerely take to a life of inner development, Sai Baba lifts him to a higher level. Every one derives benefit according to the ripeness o f his soul and in accordance with his inner yearning.Baba assured his devotees by his saying "I am at Shirdi and everywhere. Whatever you do, wherever you may be, ever bear this in mind, that I am always aware of everything". Sai Baba does not belong to any single tradition but to all mankind on the path of goodness, love and understanding.
 The relevance of Sai Baba
The divine role of Shri Sai Baba of Shirdi in the present embodiment covered a period of about 64 years between 1854, when He made his first appearance in Shirdi, and 1918 when he left His body. However, his  sixty years of stay at Shirdi on his second appearance between 1858 and 1918 manifested the depth and expansiveness of his unique role. Shri Sai baba had large number of Hindu, Parsee and Muslim devotees. Christians and Sikhs also used to visit Him.
All were treated by him alike. Under his umbrella, both the Hindus and Muslims happily took part in each others religious festivals. The caste scheme of the Hindus had no relevance with Shri Sai. He had introduced the tradition of group worship, group prayer and group dinning for all and would share his 'Chilum' (Tobacco pipe) with all. He even showed highest compassion for animals and birds and encouraged his devotees to feed and take care of them. He recognised no difference in temporal status of human beings. He refused to accept food brought in silver and gold utensils from a queen but relished a single ROTI (hand-made bread) of a beggar woman and showered all His blessings.
 - He practiced and preached humanism and universal brotherhood - prophet like.
- He established the superiority of love and compassion above egoism - Christ-like.
- He taught simplicity of livelihood and excellence of human virtue reflected in day to day conduct, Buddha-like.
Today, the world is looking ahead for a magical solution to its problems of cultural, racial, national and religious differentiation. All intellectual exercises to bring about peace in -the world and happiness to mankind has     failed for these efforts are not based on humanism, universalism and love as taught by Shri Sai. The ever multiplying number of Sai temples and devotees of Shri Shirdi Sai Baba in   India and other countries establishes the ever- increasing relevance of    His Preachings today. The body of Shri Sai Baba of Shirdi cannot be seen but the magnetic pull  of His Divine Soul is felt by all those who merely think of Him and particularly, those who visit His tomb at Shirdi. Baba had promised that whosoever would put his feet pn the soil of Shirdi, his miseries would end or marginalise.
All devotees of Baba find His promise come true, even eighty years after He left the mortal body. Baba used to call His devotees as children, and like the true father, kept busy day-in and day-out for their temporal as well as spiritual upliftment.

A prophetic overview of the eternal tapestry
and the rebirth of beautiful earth that some people don’t even think about given their day-to-day activities of life in whatever they may choose to do. but our Creator is God and the Scriptures are prophetic which all point to an act of rebirth.
and this is the rebirth of the heart & body by its baptism in grace, as well as for earth in becoming our “Home” at some point, just as Heaven is now. which means that what we read in the Bible about such things will actually take place sometime.
and in this post by John Parsons he elaborates on these events as they relate with an ancient timeline according to things written down long ago:
The number seven (i.e, sheva: שׁבע) signifies completion, fullness, or rest. It first occurs in Torah where it is written "on the seventh day (ביום השׁביעי) God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done; and God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all he had done in creation" (Gen. 2:2). The blessing of the seventh day is memorialized as the weekly Sabbath and its observance is one of the Ten Commandments (Exod. 20:8-11). There are seven ordained mo’edim (holidays) in the Jewish year: Passover, Unleavened Bread, Firstfruits, Shavuot, Yom Teruah, Yom Kippur, and Sukkot. The seventh month of the year was to be set apart with special sanctity and shofar blasts (Lev. 23:24).
In addition to the seventh day of rest every week (i.e., Shabbat), and the holy convocations during the seventh month (the Days of Awe), every seventh year the land was commanded to rest and remain fallow. This seventh year was called a shemittah (שמיטה), a word that means “to let go” or “to withdraw.” After seven of these seven-year sabbatical cycles (shemittot) had elapsed, a fiftieth year -- called Yovel (יובל), or Jubilee year -- would occur, at which time the land would rest, servants would be set free, and the original tribal inheritances would be restored to their original owners. Just as the LORD instructed us to count seven weeks of days (i.e., 49 days) from Passover until the holiday of Shavuot (i.e., "Pentecost"), so he instructed us to count seven weeks of years (i.e., 49 years) until the great Jubilee.
Some people believe that the ultimate fulfillment of the holiday of Shavuot is found in the mysterious catching away (ἁρπάζω, harpazo) of believers before the time of the “Great Tribulation” and the Great Day of the LORD (1 Thess. 4:17; John 14:3; 1 Cor. 15:51-52). They reason that since Shavuot marked the day of dramatic revelation, with signs of fire and the sounds of a heavenly shofar blast, an appointed time that marks the jubilee fulfillment of Passover, it can therefore be seen as the rapturous end of redemption for those who believe, symbolic of a wedding day, when God betrothed Israel as His own people, separate from all others. Both Jew and Gentile will be "waved" before the LORD (as symbolized by shtei ha-lechem, the two loaves), representing the "one new man" of kallat Mashiach, the "bride of Messiah," or the assembly of those called out from every tribe and tongue to be a part of God’s heavenly kingdom.
Though no one knows the day or hour of the return of Yeshua our Messiah (Matt. 24:36; Acts 1:7), there are clues given in Scripture about the conditions of the world before His return, and Yeshua himself gave us parables admonishing us to actively be looking (Matt. 24:2-14; 25:1-13). The Apostle Paul said that followers of the Lord can know the “season” of Messiah’s return, and warned that He will come “as a thief in the night” - not in great power and glory at the end of the age (1 Thess. 5:2-6). Moreover, Paul forewarned of the rise of worldwide godlessness (2 Tim. 3:1-7) and the eventual apostasy of the “institutionalized” church (1 Tim. 4:1-3). Other Scriptures foretell of the coming One World Government, the rise of the Messiah of evil (Antichrist) and the insitution of the “security state” (Dan. 11:38), the rebirth of the nation of Israel, the desire to rebuild the Temple, the coming Great Tribulation, and so on.
In addition to these general signs or clues, however, there are amazing prophecies of Daniel that should also be taken into account. The prophet Daniel wrote of seventy "weeks of years" (שבוע של שנים), or 490 years, that would explain what would happen in the latter days and the restoration of all things (Dan. 9:24). Daniel divided the 490 years into two distinct parts. The first part was a sixty nine “weeks of years” period (i.e., 483 years) that began with the decree of Cyrus (in 538 BC) to rebuild Jerusalem after the 70 year Babylonian exile (see Isa. 44:26-28; 45:1-4, Ezra 1:1-3), that would end when the Messiah was "cut off" (כרת) to make an end of sins for his people and to bring in everlasting righteousness (Dan. 9:24-26). The second part was a final "week of years" (i.e., 7 years) in which an evil ruler would ascend to power that would make a covenant of peace with the world, but in the middle of the "week" (i.e., 3 1/2 years), the ruler would treacherously break the covenant and persecute Israel (Dan. 9:27, Matt. 24:15). This period of time is otherwise known as the time of Jacob's trouble (Jer. 30:7), the day of indignation (Isa. 26:20-21), the "Great Tribulation" (Matt. 24:21; Dan. 12:1), the "last days" (2 Tim.3:1-5; 2 Pet. 3:3), and the subsequent judgment from heaven during this time is called Yom Adonai hagadol: "the great day of the LORD" (Joel 1:15; Isa. 2:12; Jer. 46:10; Ezek. 30:3; Zeph. 1:7, etc.). What is particularly interesting from a prophetic point of view is that the climactic 70th week of years was set apart and broken off from the previous 69 weeks of years, creating a “gap” or hiatus that has been called “the age of grace” or sometimes the “church age.” During this time (or “dispensation”), the way to be in right relationship with God is to believe the message of the gospel of Yeshua the Messiah.
Now this final 70th week of years is divided into two equal parts: the first part will be a time of "peace," but in the middle of the week (‎וחצי השׁבוע) the evil ruler (המשיח השקרי) will break the covenant, stop Jewish worship practices, and declare himself to be a god. He then will persecute the Jewish people and attempt to finally exterminate them from the earth (2 Thess. 2:3-8). Before the advent of last week of years, however, the restraining power of God will be removed, which some associate with the rapture or "snatching away" of the followers of Messiah (2 Thess. 2:6-7; Gen 7:1-16). Believers will then set apart from the plagues of God's wrath mentioned in the book of Revelation (1 Thess. 5:9) to participate in the “Marriage of the Lamb” (Rev. 19:7). Seven blessings will be recited (i.e, sheva berachot) and the bride will circle the groom seven times under the chuppah (wedding canopy). After the marriage are seven days of celebration. After this the LORD will return to earth with his saints, overthrow the false Messiah, save the Jewish people, and establish the Kingdom of God (Rev. 19:11-16). The promises of the LORD spoken of the prophets concerning Zion and the blessing of the land given to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob will be fulfilled (Isa. 2:2-4; Micah 4:1; Zech. 8:3; Psalm 86:9; Jer. 3:17) and the Seventh Millennium of history will commence (Rev. 20:4). Kindly note that this post provides a simple overview of a complex subject of which many books have been written. I wrote this post, however, because it is connected with our Torah reading for this week, parashat Behar-Bechukotai.
Let's not get into debates about the timing of the End of Days here, chaverim. There are forums that are better suited for that sort of discussion. Thank you. -jjp

The Dreamers
“It shall even be as when an hungry man dreameth, and, behold, he eateth; but he awaketh, and his soul is empty: or as when a thirsty man dreameth, and, behold, he drinketh; but he awaketh, and, behold, he is faint, and his soul hath appetite: so shall the multitude of all the nations be, that fight against mount Zion.” (Isaiah 29:8)
The dreamers of this world are not only the utopian idealists and the contemplative meditationists. The really impractical dreamers are those who most pride themselves on being pragmatic materialists and scientific naturalists, dreaming that by their own efforts they can bring about perfection on Earth. The fact is that this world is not the real world but only a temporary world that, like a dream, will soon fade away in the light of God’s eternal day, when we awake in His presence to experience the world as God intended it.
In our text, it is significant that the sleeping men are dreaming only about eating and drinking. In the same manner, those whose interests and desires are centered in this world only will find all their objectives have turned to nothingness. “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever” (1 John 2:16-17).
In that great day when the real world that will last for eternity arrives, all the “multitudes” in “all the nations” of the world— those who have ignored the will of God and who have thus, in effect, been “fighting against mount Zion”—will finally awaken, but it will be too late. How urgent it is that men now awake to God’s Word and God’s will. “Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light” (Ephesians 5:14). HMM

The Shepherd’s Rod
It is somewhat like a policeman’s club. It is often made of oak wood and has a knob  on the end of it. Into this knob nails are sometimes driven in order  to make a better weapon. It is very useful for protection, and no shepherd would be without it. It was no doubt the rod that David used in protecting his sheep from wild animals (1 Samuel 17:34-36). He mentions both the rod and the staff in his Shepherd Psalm (Psalm 23:4).
The prophet Ezekiel refers to the custom of  the sheep passing under the shepherd’s rod for the purpose of counting or inspecting them. “I will cause you to pass under the rod” (Ezekiel 20:37). The law of Moses speaks of tithing the flock for a specific purpose at such a time. “And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the Lord” (Leviticus 27:32). To do this Jewish writers tell us that the shepherd allowed the animals to come by him as they would under the rod at a narrow entrance. The head of the rod was dipped into some coloring fluid and was allowed to come down upon every tenth one that passed by, thus marking him as the one to be given to the Lord for sacrificial purposes.
The scepter, which the ancient kings of the East usually had with them, had its origin in the shepherd’s rod. Kings were considered to be shepherds of their people. Thus the scepter, or rod, of the king became a symbol of protection, power, and authority. Young translates Micah 7:14: “Rule thou thy people with thy rod, the flock of thine inheritance.” (Ancient Hebrew Research Center). “The scepter of the wicked will not remain over the land allotted to the righteous, for then the righteous might use their hands to do evil.” (Psalm 125:3). The scepter represents the absolute and eternal supremacy of the Lord’s justice. “Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.” (Psalm 45:6). “The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until he to whom it belongs shall come and the obedience of the nations shall be his.” (Genesis 49:10)

Pre-Beginnings Promise

Pre-Beginnings Promise
Introduction
“Pre” is a prefix which means before, while “beginning” is defined as the time when something starts, and promise is “telling somebody what you will definitely (or surely) do or what you will not do and or something that will definitely happen.”
Beginning in Hebrew word is “ראשׁית”, “rê'shı̂yth” pronounced as “ray-sheeth'”, which means the first in place, time, order or rank. In Greek word, it is “ἀρχή” which is “archē”, pronounced as ar-khay', this in Greek means commencement, chief, principle, rule.
From these definitions, the topic means, what has been designed which will happen even before the start of something.
To explain this topic a little more, I want to make some illustrations. Take an example of a person who has no plan of how to spend $1:00 (one dollar), when this person receives this money such a person would spend it wrongly. The person spends it wrongly because he does not have a concrete plan for the money before it gets to his hands.
There was once a boy in a village who was sick nigh death, but he was saved by some missionaries who visited his village who after praying for him administer some drugs that resulted in his recovery. After this performance on him, this boy as from that time decided that he would also be like those people, he would become a healer in the future.
When he was growing, he had not mentor academically because many of the people in his village are not learned, and he was just going to school with strong determination to break the limitations on his family and village.
When it was time for him to choose subjects, he chooses Arts subjects and he did well in his final examinations. He entered university after finishing from secondary school. He discovered on entering university that the course which he has vowed to do is medicine, but he did not have the qualifications for this course. He finished from the course and after went and write ordinary level examinations again. This new result he used in securing admission for the course he has desired to read, which is medicine.
A story of a boy who sees poverty rampant around him promises himself on seeing people suffering that if God could bless him in life, he would always be helping people, the needy who comes around him or those he knows. About 50 years after making this decision within him, the story of his life changed as he was rewarded for something on the internet, what he won was million dollars. This changed his life, and his work and what he has in mind since childhood that he will be doing when his life changes, he started doing it.
From this we can see that even before the lives of those people changed, they have had it in mind what they will do. Assuming they did not have it in mind prior then, it is sure that they will likely not know how to use the money they won and or would have thought well they have achieved their aims after obtaining a University degree.
From the above illustrations, we would have some insights into what this topic is about.
Exposition
For explaining this topic further, I will want us to read from the letter of apostle Paul to Titus, chapter one and verse two.
“In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began” (Tit. 1:2)
In the above words, we shall see the followings:
1. God’s Heart Before Creations:
Apostle Paul in unequivocal terms said in his epistle to his spiritual son, that before the world began, before Genesis 1:1 which says that, “in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” God had some things in his mind. What God has in mind would have remained there, would have been in oblivion, unknown either to the heavenly beings or human beings, but this becomes known to us, because God decides to say it out.
I want you to view what I am saying in this light, what you have in your mind, the thought of your heart would remain there except you say it out. No one on earth except God alone can know what is in your heart that you have not uttered out.
Therefore, we talk about our ancient fathers in this part of the world that they die with all the knowledge they have because many of them do not trust anyone to reveal their minds to. Some of them, who revealed some of the knowledge they had and what was in their hearts to some people, those people could not tell it to their successors after them. Thus, those knowledges and many secrets that would have been helpful to us in this part of the world, yea the world at large, we do not have access to because those who have the knowledge were unable to successfully pass it across to their heirs, they died with all they know.
This isn’t so with the fore parents of the westernized countries of the world, because they were able to pass their knowledges to those coming behind.
We may say the fault is to a large extent related to our inability to write and read in this part of the world. This God sees and or foreknows and decides that such would not happen, thus he allowed for means of writing through which messages could be passed between Hebrews, his chosen nation. Before the world is formed at all, God has something in his heart.
2. God Unlocks The Doors of His Heart
We get to know what was in the mind of God before creations because God did not keep the contents of his heart to himself, God unlock the doors of his heart to the heavenly being by telling those things in his heart. Except he did this, no spiritual being neither humans could have had access to this room. Thoughts in his heart would have remained there.
3. Why He Uttered Them
If he has not uttered them, and he is now saying them after what happened in the garden of Eden had happened, angels and other spiritual beings would have called it an afterthought, that he is gasping for breath. They would have said it was when he discovered that Satan was having an upper hand that he started reacting and started saying those, they would not have seen him as omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscience. They would not have believed that he says the end from the beginning.
“Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,
“Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure” (Isa. 46:9-10)
The effect of this on his person and his rulership would have been worse (Matt. 27:64) than the earlier rebellion of the morning star and his supporters. What more? This error would have spread wide and far such that it would be near impossible if not totally impossible to bring the hearts of men back to himself.
All these and more could not be said by spiritual beings neither by anyone because he has before everything begins uttered them out.
4. Who He Uttered The Words To:
To avoid ambiguities, misconceptions, misconstruing, Elohim after the creation of the cherubim and seraphim and other celestial beings told them what was in his heart, and what was in his heart was forming the world, after forming the world, he told them that he will give man that he formed eternal life.
It is like a person who finds it hard having a friend, but after trying a person and discovered that the person could be relied on, he becomes friends with the person. After becoming a friend with the person, he told him what was in his heart, his plan for the next ten years if God spares their lives. If he has not divulged what was in his heart to him, this person would not know though they are friends.
God equally told the being he had formed what was in his heart and the things he told them which are in his heart are; forming the world, creating man, making man the head of all he formed and above all he would give him eternal life.
5. Hearers disposition
As we know that when a man is talking to two or more people, different things will be running in their hearts to what they are hearing. The same I believe happened when God was talking to the celestial beings of what he has in mind to do. Some supported God’s idea, while others spearheaded by the morning star did not buy the idea. How could he do that? How can he give man that he will create eternal life? The life he hasn’t given us, he has in no way tell us that he will give us, celestial bodies, eternal life. He wants to make us second fiddle, he wants to make us inferior to them.
“When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
“What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
“For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
“Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:
“All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;
“The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.” (Psa. 8:3-8)
He wants to make us their subjects, he wants to make us a second fiddle, there is no way I will agree to that. I cannot possibly sign off on this the devil said and his subjects agreed with him that they would not allow what was in the mind of the Lord which he has divulged to them to stand.
6. He Knows There Would Be Antagonists
To what he told the celestial bodies he knows there would be antagonists to it, he knows that there would be those who will not want to allow what he said to come to pass among them.
“He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see?” (Psa. 94:9)
You will recall that when Jesus was in the earth, he says he knows the person who will betray him.
“For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean.” (Joh. 13:11)
Despite understanding there would be antagonists to what he has said, he yet said it to show his position to show that even if the heavens and earth would pass his word would still be fulfilled.
7. The Promise
Promise in Greek is “ἐπαγγέλλω”, called “epaggellō”, its phonetically called “ep-ang-el'-lo” which means announcement (assent, pledge especially a divine assurance of good), to assert something with respect to oneself, to engage to do something.
In Numbers 14:34 the Hebrew word for promise there is “תּנוּאה”, which is “tenû'âh”, being pronounced as ten-oo-aw' and its meaning is alienation.
And another Hebrew word use for promise in the old testament is “דּבר”, which is “dâbâr”, pronounced as daw-bawr' which means a word, to speak. These could be found in the following books, 1 Kings 8:56; 2 Chro. 1:9; Neh. 5:12-13 and Psa. 105:42.
In Psalms 77:8 another Hebrew word use for promise is “אמר”, which is “'ômer” pronounced as o'-mer. This also means speech, word.
The Hebrew word for “dâbâr”, used for promise is being translated as logos in the Greek word, which means speech. This shows the manifestations of the thoughts of God on thing, the manifestation of thoughts of God to give Abraham a child, the manifestation of God to give us someone who will save the world, who will give the world, humans in the world eternal life is Jesus. This word becomes flesh and dwells among us. The “dâbâr”, or logos of God becomes flesh. The thoughts of God become manifested.
The English word promise is from old French word “promesse” which means promise, assurance, guarantee. This word promise in Latin is “promissum”. It is a past participle of “promittere” which means send forth, beforehand, assure, let go, foretell”. It has the same root as the word “pie”, “per” which means “forward”, thence it is infront of, comes before. When this root word is added to the “mittere” whose meaning is “to let go, to release, to send, to throw”. The summation of the words is the future, something to be done in the future or what would not be done in the future.
All the above definitions of the word show that God was mindful of the future when he was speaking to those angelic and celestial beings of what he has in mind to do for man after creating the world and all in there.
8. Eternal
Eternal is defined as something that does not have a beginning neither an ending.
The Greek word used for eternal in this book of Titus is “αἰώνιος” which is aiōnios, phonetically spell as “ahee-o'-nee-os”. This word “aiōnios” means perpetual (which also includes past time and future), forever.
However, one of the Hebrew words used for eternal is “קדמה    קדם”, which is “qedem  qêdmâh”, and phonetically its spelling is “keh'-dem, kayd'-maw”. This means front, antiquity, before, anciently. This is what the author of Deuteronomy 32:27 used, while the author of the book of Isaiah used another word which is “עלם    עולם”, which is “‛ôlâm  ‛ôlâm” which is pronounced as “o-lawm', o-lawm'”. This means time out of mind, continuance, perpetual, lasting long, at any time.
These words suggest that the word eternal means perpetual and as being defined by the English dictionary it means what will not come to an end what will keep going, what starts from “before, continues now and projecting into the future.”
9. Life
The life being talked about by the apostle here is Greek word “ζωή”, which is “zōē” phonetically pronounced as dzo-ay'. It means life this life could better be understood when we note the root words from which it comes which are zaō and psuchē.
These two root words from which “zōē” has been derived in Greek has the following meanings.  The first word, “ζάω” in Greek which is zaō (dzah'-o in pronunciation) means to live, to be quick, and the second word “ψυχή”, which is psuchē (pronounced as psoo-khay') which means breath, implying spirit (this essentially distinguish man from the trees and beasts because it consists of rational and immortal soul).
This shows that the promised life would be a quick and sharper one, a life that would be fully lived, a life that would have the breath, the spirit of God which would differentiate man from the beasts of the forests and the trees, the lower beings as being known by the Biologists.
This is the promised life that the Lord promised even before the world is formed and he made this known unto the celestial beings that he will certainly do this. This is the highest promise he has for mankind. The devil who does not want this promise to get to man had to gather his hosts together and found a way to enter the garden to ensure that the promise eludes man.
He entered the garden perhaps because he was thinking that the tree of life in the garden is the source of life being promised but unknown to him that his master plan, what would bring the eternal life is not the tree, but God was using that as a template to show of a certainty that what he said shall come to pass.
How we make mistakes sometimes when we think that God’s way is limited to a section, and because we sometimes think his way is restricted to a position, we would not be looking at other options being shown us.
We again tend to lose faith sometimes when what we know has been promised us did not come through the route which we expect it would come, we then tend to misbehave or sometimes give in to the devil to lure us away from Him. The first people were lied to, they were led away from the will of God.
Even at that, God never forget his promises that he is going to give his image eternal life, a life that is perpetual.
We must know that whatsoever he promises, he will surely do. He promised this and he did do it for all and sundry at the nick of time, no time is lost in delivering this promise to mankind.
“In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began” (Tit. 1:2)
Have you been promised something by God? Are you looking forwards to his promises? Are you expectant of the fulfilment of his promises? If he can fulfill the promise of giving mankind eternal life, life at its fullest, life that differs from that of beasts even before he created the world and everything in it, you should be assured that he will fulfill those promises he has for you.
Maybe you are the type who is not sure, neither certain of God’s promises for you, you should know that since you are his child having given your life to God through Jesus Christ, all those things in the bible are promises meant for you, he is bound by his word to fulfill those for you and he will surely fulfill them all. All you need to do is become acquainted with the bible, to know his words and unhidden promises for you.
“For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.” (2 Cor. 1:20)
10. These should be known to be true of this book of Titus 1:2
i) The world has been in the mind of God for long,
ii) Creations have been in his mind before the formation of the world,
iii) It is what he wants anyone to become on earth that the person becomes,
iv) When he wants a person to be begotten, to come into the world that is when the person will be given birth to,
v) Where a person would be begotten at was where the delivery of the person will take place,
vi) When redemption would appear, he knows
vii) He knows there would be antagonism to the promise, yet he spoke it, he made the promise without hesitation

WE ARE CALLED AFTER THE SPIRIT AND NOT AFTER THE FLESH!
WE ARE CALLED AFTER THE SPIRIT AND NOT AFTER THE FLESH! Leo Emmanuel Lochard "Forgiven Builder" February 3, 2017
The Old Covenant has been fulfilled by Messiah Christ Jesus (Hebrews 8: 13; 13:8, KJV) dying on the Cross to redeem all Humankind, after which our Lord rose from the dead to sit at the right hand of power of God who has put all things in subjection under His feet.
“For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be their God and they shall be to me a people: And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.” (Hebrews 8: 10-13, KJV).
As revealed in Galatians 6, KJV, we Christians are “the Israel of God” through the fulfillment of Genesis 3:15, KJV by Christ Jesus Messiah; and through the fulfillment of God’s promises to Abram – Abraham of Ur of the Chaldees, Babylon, who, due to his SEED OF FAITH obeyed God and it was reckoned to him as righteousness! (Genesis 15:6, KJV).
For it is “children of promise” who shall inherit God’s Kingdom, and not “children of human blood” descending from ethnic allegiance and racial clannishness, all of which, being based upon fleshly biology which is bound to perish for an honorable burial in the cemetery of our choice! (John 6:63, KJV). We hunger and thirst after “an imperishable house” built by Almighty God and “not built by human hands!”
God promised Abram – Abraham, that he would be “father of many families” and that His SEED would be as numerous as the stars of the heavens, which includes ALL Christians over the globe as well as those who in the future will come to know, receive, and accept Jesus Christ Messiah as Savior of all Humanity! – Abram – Abraham is NOT “father of only one nation” or of “six million Jewish people” but due to his unswerving faith in God, Abram – Abraham is “father of MANY families" constituted of “all tribes, tongues, and peoples!” For God had said, “and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.”
Christianity, which is the fulfillment of the First Testament, seeks to encompass and embrace the whole family of Humanity inhabiting every Continent on this globe! Christ Jesus did not put any “racial boundaries” to carve out an “ethnic enclave” for redemption and salvation from sin! “Chosen-ness” is not for Jews only, but rather God extended “the adoption of sons and daughters” to all who believe on His name and receive His atoning sacrifice on the Cross as a propitiation for their sins. (John 1: 1-18; Romans Chapter 8, KJV).
“For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named. That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man. That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God. Now unto him that is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen. (Ephesians 3: 14-21, KJV).
Thus, there is no such thing as “a sovereign right” of Zionist Jews to continue the military oppression of a whole people-group, the Palestinians, in order to “progressively” expropriate their lands, properties, and resources! God does not condone genocidal violence for land confiscation! Our Lord had allowed such tragedies before the coming of Messiah Christ Jesus because the whole world was “pagan” then (or “outside of God’s covenanted will), e.g., Capture of “Jerusalem” by the sword during the times of King David. Thus, God had “reluctantly” allowed Samuel, the Priest, to anoint Saul as “king of Israel” in order to begin executing His miraculous plan of Salvation for all Humankind, hence, why our Lord always saved a Remnant, even “in Babylon,” through whom He would accomplish “an expected end.” (Jeremiah 29:11, KJV).
And it came to pass, when Samuel was old, that he made his sons judges over Israel. Now the name of the firstborn was Joel; and the name of his second, Abiah: they were judges in Beer-sheba. And his sons walked not in his ways, but turned aside after lucre, and took bribes, and perverted judgment. Then all the elders of Israel gathered themselves together, and came to Samuel unto Ramah, And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations. But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the Lord. And the Lord said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all they say unto thee: FOR THEY HAVE NOT REJECTED THEE, BUT THEY HAVE REJECTED ME, THAT I SHOULD NOT REIGN OVER THEM.” (1 Samuel 8: 1-7, KJV)
God had allowed “the house of Israel” to have a king like all the other nations in order to “work through a Remnant” who would be faithful to His righteous commandments.
“According to all the works which they have done since the day I brought them up out of Egypt even unto this day, wherewith THEY HAVE FORSAKEN ME, AND SERVED OTHER GODS, SO DO THEY ALSO UNTO THEE. Now therefore hearken unto their voice: howbeit yet protest solemnly unto them, and shew them the manner of the king that shall reign over them.” (1 Samuel 8: 8-9, KJV).
Samuel, the Priest, continued as commanded by God to tell “the house of Israel” how the earthly king they choose will treat them:
“And he said, This will be the manner of the king that shall reign over you: He will take your sons, and appoint them for himself, for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and some shall run before his chariots……..and to make his instruments of war, and instruments of his chariots.” (1 Samuel 8: 10-17, KJV).
But they had refused to heed Samuel’s advice not to have an earthly king, and so “the house of Israel” opted to suffer all the consequences of becoming “like all the other nations.”
“And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; AND THE LORD WILL NOT HEAR YOU IN THAT DAY. Nevertheless, the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, NAY, BUT WE WILL HAVE A KING OVER US; THAT WE ALSO MAY BE LIKE ALL THE NATIONS; AND THAT OUR KING MAY JUDGE US, AND GO OUT BEFORE US, AND FIGHT OUR BATTLES.” (1 Samuel 8: 18-20, KJV). The people, therefore, worked things out to result in “forcing Samuel’s hands” into “agreeing” to give them an earthly king.
“And the Lord said to Samuel, Hearken unto their voice, and MAKE THEM A KING. And Samuel said unto the men of Israel, Go ye every man unto his city.” (1 Samuel 8: 21-22, KJV).
God had made a Covenant of Love with Abram – Abraham who had “obeyed God and it was reckoned to him as righteousness.” God had commanded him to kill “Isaac” as a sacrifice; he obeyed; but right in the middle of the sacrifice, God stopped Abram – Abraham; and a ram “caught in the thicket” was “substituted” for Isaac. Isaac therefore lived and then through this SEED OF RIGHTEOUS FAITH, God covenanted with Abram – Abraham that he would be “father of many families.”
We are “children of promise,” through the SEED OF FAITHFULNESS by God to Abram – Abraham --- We are called after the Spirit and not after the flesh, not biological lineage, nor genealogical ancestral descent as Zionist Jews are emphasizing “in the world” today.
God tells us, “Behold I am making a new thing!” (Isaiah 43: 18-19, KJV).
To be “born again” is a spiritual act of Faith; we become “a new creation” through the working of Christ’s Holy Spirit in our hearts and in our minds. What is physical is physical; what is spiritual is spiritual. Jesus said to us, “Heaven and earth shall pass away but my words shall not pass away.” But “the world system” — How Humankind “organizes” or “arranges” the world in which they live — is transient, temporary, corrupt, and perishable! So is the flesh, with all its lustful cravings after material enticements, physical-earthly entanglements, and worldly-sinful entrapments that derail faithful service to our loving Savior! (2 Corinthians 5: 17; Galatians 6:13-18, KJV). God created us and knows our natural-biological constitution “Thou knowest our frame: that we are dust.”
But because Christ has already come to shed His blood for our redemption, He forgave us so that we can begin “on a clean slate” without any excuse for violating God’s commandments given to us through the Law and the Prophets. (Micah 6:8; Matthew 5:9, KJV).
“In Isaac shall thy SEED be called.” (Genesis 21:12; Hebrews 11:18, KJV).
We are not “called after the flesh!” But we are “called after the Spirit!” How can we be “children of promise” if we are called after the flesh? “Abram believed God and it was reckoned to him as righteousness.”
For Abram – Abraham first, also had Ishmael as his son with the Egyptian maid Hagar, and not merely Isaac who came much later; and as it is written in the Holy Bible, Esau the brother of Jacob “the supplanter” who stole Esau’s birthright, also “went to the Ishmaelites.”
So, biologically, given that Ishmael and Isaac are both sons of Abraham as brothers in-the-flesh, then, if salvation was of fleshly ancestral lineage, all unbelieving Arabs and Jews would have already been part of the Covenant of Love with Christ Jesus as Lord, as well as Zionist Jews and every body else on this Planet yet who are not Christians — It would not have been necessary to be “born again” as “a new creation” — because Abram – Abraham also had Ishmael first, (a “Gentile” outside of the Covenant with “the house of Israel”), in addition to Isaac, the son of promise whom Abram fathered “within the Covenant with the house of Israel” from whose Remnant would, Jesus Christ Messiah, the Lion of Judah, be born! Son of Man! Son of God! Let he who has ears, hear and understand!
So, my dear friends, we are called after the Spirit and not after the flesh! “The righteous shall live by faith!” “We walk by faith not by sight!” “Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen” — not physically-seen geographical “Jerusalem,” but the “Jerusalem from heaven” which Christ Jesus Messiah will establish upon his return when He creates “a new heaven and a new earth!” (Hebrews Chapter 11; Revelation Chapter 21, KJV).

THE FEAST OF THE ASCENSION by Fr.
There is no other way to heaven than that which Jesus trod, the way of struggle, labor, and toil, – of self-denial, mortification, and tears–no other way, in short, than the royal road of the holy cross.
Prosper Gueranger 1870
The sun of the fortieth day has risen in all his splendor.

Chennai to shirdi flight package
ABOUT SAIBABA
Long time ago, at the beginning of eighteenth century a young bearded man with sparkling eyes took shelter in a mosque, in Shirdi Village (of Maharshtra State, In India) . Nobody knew from where this stranger had come who hardly spoke a word and stayed there.
He is the self of all
 He is the Universal Life
He is the indwelling Cosmic Spirit
He is the Imminent Immortal Reality
 He is Self-Existent, Self-Luminous Truth
 He is the Static Reality
He is the moving force behind Creation
 He is the Supreme Guide
 He is the Goal
He is All - The whole in part - play in umpteen forms
Gradually the curious villagers started offering food to the man, but he never asked anything from them. Sometimes he    shared his food with the animals. Soon the young fakir, as he was started to be addressed, started expressing his view points with few elderly villagers. His simple language of expresssion and his special power of solving the problems of  poor needy and destitutes soon made this less known fakir, known as Shri Sai Baba. As the days passed, devotees started streaming into Shirdi in ever growing numbers. The village was  fast becoming a centre of pilgrimage. As gifts and presentations flowed in, the pomp and ceremony of Sai worship  chennai to shirdi flight package  were evolving.
He always made it a point not to return empty handed those who had come to him  chennai to shirdi flight package   in their hour of need and grief.
The lmmense Energy that was manifest in the body of Sai was moving and is still moving in a mysterious way, creating and     recreating itself everywhere, beyond the comprehension of time and space.Yet, he lived with the common folk as a penniless fakir, wearing a torn kafni, sleeping over a mat while resting his head on a brick, begging for his food.
To the Moslems he was a fakir living in a mosque observing the disciplines of Islam, uttering "Allah Malik" (God is the master) guiding Muslim seekers along the lines their own religion. To the Parsis he was the sacred rire worshipper. His life was a living manifestation the Sermon of the Christ and of the Eight-fold path of the Buddha.

http://quran.msnsyria.com
English - Yusuf Ali
Sorah Yunus ( Jonah )
Verses Number 109
A.L.R. These are the ayats of the Book of Wisdom.
Is it a matter of wonderment to men that We have sent Our inspiration to a man from among themselves?- that he should warn mankind (of their danger), and give the good news to the Believers that they have before their Lord the lofty rank of truth. (But) say the Unbelievers: "This is indeed an evident sorcerer!"
Verily your Lord is Allah, who created the heavens and the earth in six days, and is firmly established on the throne (of authority), regulating and governing all things. No intercessor (can plead with Him) except after His leave (hath been obtained). This is Allah your Lord; Him therefore serve ye: will ye not receive admonition?
To Him will be your return- of all of you. The promise of Allah is true and sure. It is He Who beginneth the process of creation, and repeateth it, that He may reward with justice those who believe and work righteousness; but those who reject Him will have draughts of boiling fluids, and a penalty grievous, because they did reject Him.
It is He Who made the sun to be a shining glory and the moon to be a light (of beauty), and measured out stages for her; that ye might know the number of years and the count (of time). Nowise did Allah create this but in truth and righteousness. (Thus) doth He explain His Signs in detail, for those who understand.
Verily, in the alternation of the night and the day, and in all that Allah hath created, in the heavens and the earth, are signs for those who fear Him.
Those who rest not their hope on their meeting with Us, but are pleased and satisfied with the life of the present, and those who heed not Our Signs,-
Their abode is the Fire, because of the (evil) they earned.
Those who believe, and work righteousness,- their Lord will guide them because of their faith: beneath them will flow rivers in gardens of bliss.
(This will be) their cry therein: "Glory to Thee, O Allah!" And "Peace" will be their greeting therein! and the close of their cry will be: "Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds!"
If Allah were to hasten for men the ill (they have earned) as they would fain hasten on the good,- then would their respite be settled at once. But We leave those who rest not their hope on their meeting with Us, in their trespasses, wandering in distraction to and fro.
When trouble toucheth a man, He crieth unto Us (in all postures)- lying down on his side, or sitting, or standing. But when We have solved his trouble, he passeth on his way as if he had never cried to Us for a trouble that touched him! thus do the deeds of transgressors seem fair in their eyes!
Generations before you We destroyed when they did wrong: their messengers came to them with clear-signs, but they would not believe! thus do We requite those who sin!
Then We made you heirs in the land after them, to see how ye would behave!
But when Our Clear Signs are rehearsed unto them, those who rest not their hope on their meeting with Us, Say: "Bring us a reading other than this, or change this," Say: "It is not for me, of my own accord, to change it: I follow naught but what is revealed unto me: if I were to disobey my Lord, I should myself fear the penalty of a Great Day (to come)."
Say: "If Allah had so willed, I should not have rehearsed it to you, nor would He have made it known to you. A whole life-time before this have I tarried amongst you: will ye not then understand?"
Who doth more wrong than such as forge a lie against Allah, or deny His Signs? But never will prosper those who sin.
They serve, besides Allah, things that hurt them not nor profit them, and they say: "These are our intercessors with Allah." Say: "Do ye indeed inform Allah of something He knows not, in the heavens or on earth?- Glory to Him! and far is He above the partners they ascribe (to Him)!"
Mankind was but one nation, but differed (later). Had it not been for a word that went forth before from thy Lord, their differences would have been settled between them.
They say: "Why is not a sign sent down to him from his Lord?" Say: "The Unseen is only for Allah (to know), then wait ye: I too will wait with you."
When We make mankind taste of some mercy after adversity hath touched them, behold! they take to plotting against Our Signs! Say: "Swifter to plan is Allah!" Verily, Our messengers record all the plots that ye make!
He it is Who enableth you to traverse through land and sea; so that ye even board ships;- they sail with them with a favourable wind, and they rejoice thereat; then comes a stormy wind and the waves come to them from all sides, and they think they are being overwhelmed: they cry unto Allah, sincerely offering (their) duty unto Him saying, "If thou dost deliver us from this, we shall truly show our gratitude!"
But when he delivereth them, behold! they transgress insolently through the earth in defiance of right! O mankind! your insolence is against your own souls,- an enjoyment of the life of the present: in the end, to Us is your return, and We shall show you the truth of all that ye did.
The likeness of the life of the present is as the rain which We send down from the skies: by its mingling arises the produce of the earth- which provides food for men and animals: (It grows) till the earth is clad with its golden ornaments and is decked out (in beauty): the people to whom it belongs think they have all powers of disposal over it: There reaches it Our command by night or by day, and We make it like a harvest clean-mown, as if it had not flourished only the day before! thus do We explain the Signs in detail for those who reflect.
But Allah doth call to the Home of Peace: He doth guide whom He pleaseth to a way that is straight.
To those who do right is a goodly (reward)- Yea, more (than in measure)! No darkness nor shame shall cover their faces! they are companions of the garden; they will abide therein (for aye)!
But those who have earned evil will have a reward of like evil: ignominy will cover their (faces): No defender will they have from (the wrath of) Allah: Their faces will be covered, as it were, with pieces from the depth of the darkness of night: they are companions of the Fire: they will abide therein (for aye)!
One day shall We gather them all together. Then shall We say to those who joined gods (with Us): "To your place! ye and those ye joined as 'partners' We shall separate them, and their "Partners" shall say: "It was not us that ye worshipped!
"Enough is Allah for a witness between us and you: we certainly knew nothing of your worship of us!"
There will every soul prove (the fruits of) the deeds it sent before: they will be brought back to Allah their rightful Lord, and their invented falsehoods will leave them in the lurch.
Say: "Who is it that sustains you (in life) from the sky and from the earth? or who is it that has power over hearing and sight? And who is it that brings out the living from the dead and the dead from the living? and who is it that rules and regulates all affairs?" They will soon say, "Allah". Say, "will ye not then show piety (to Him)?"
Such is Allah, your real Cherisher and Sustainer: apart from truth, what (remains) but error? How then are ye turned away?
Thus is the word of thy Lord proved true against those who rebel: Verily they will not believe.
Say: "Of your 'partners', can any originate creation and repeat it?" Say: "It is Allah Who originates creation and repeats it: then how are ye deluded away (from the truth)?"
Say: "Of your 'partners' is there any that can give any guidance towards truth?" Say: "It is Allah Who gives guidance towards truth, is then He Who gives guidance to truth more worthy to be followed, or he who finds not guidance (himself) unless he is guided? what then is the matter with you? How judge ye?"
But most of them follow nothing but fancy: truly fancy can be of no avail against truth. Verily Allah is well aware of all that they do.
This Qur'an is not such as can be produced by other than Allah; on the contrary it is a confirmation of (revelations) that went before it, and a fuller explanation of the Book - wherein there is no doubt - from the Lord of the worlds.
Or do they say, "He forged it"? say: "Bring then a Sura like unto it, and call (to your aid) anyone you can besides Allah, if it be ye speak the truth!"
Nay, they charge with falsehood that whose knowledge they cannot compass, even before the elucidation thereof hath reached them: thus did those before them make charges of falsehood: but see what was the end of those who did wrong!
Of them there are some who believe therein, and some who do not: and thy Lord knoweth best those who are out for mischief.
If they charge thee with falsehood, say: "My work to me, and yours to you! ye are free from responsibility for what I do, and I for what ye do!"
Among them are some who (pretend to) listen to thee: But canst thou make the deaf to hear,- even though they are without understanding?
And among them are some who look at thee: but canst thou guide the blind,- even though they will not see?
Verily Allah will not deal unjustly with man in aught: It is man that wrongs his own soul.
One day He will gather them together: (It will be) as if they had tarried but an hour of a day: they will recognise each other: assuredly those will be lost who denied the meeting with Allah and refused to receive true guidance.
Whether We show thee (realised in thy life-time) some part of what We promise them,- or We take thy soul (to Our Mercy) (Before that),- in any case, to Us is their return: ultimately Allah is witness, to all that they do.
To every people (was sent) a messenger: when their messenger comes (before them), the matter will be judged between them with justice, and they will not be wronged.
They say: "When will this promise come to pass,- if ye speak the truth?"
Say: "I have no power over any harm or profit to myself except as Allah willeth. To every people is a term appointed: when their term is reached, not an hour can they cause delay, nor (an hour) can they advance (it in anticipation)."
Say: "Do ye see,- if His punishment should come to you by night or by day,- what portion of it would the sinners wish to hasten?
"Would ye then believe in it at last, when it actually cometh to pass? (It will then be said): 'Ah! now? and ye wanted (aforetime) to hasten it on!'
"At length will be said to the wrong-doers: 'Taste ye the enduring punishment! ye get but the recompense of what ye earned!'"
They seek to be informed by thee: "Is that true?" Say: "Aye! by my Lord! it is the very truth! and ye cannot frustrate it!"
Every soul that hath sinned, if it possessed all that is on earth, would fain give it in ransom: They would declare (their) repentance when they see the penalty: but the judgment between them will be with justice, and no wrong will be done unto them.
Is it not (the case) that to Allah belongeth whatever is in the heavens and on earth? Is it not (the case) that Allah's promise is assuredly true? Yet most of them understand not.
It is He Who giveth life and who taketh it, and to Him shall ye all be brought back.
O mankind! there hath come to you a direction from your Lord and a healing for the (diseases) in your hearts,- and for those who believe, a guidance and a Mercy.
Say: "In the bounty of Allah. And in His Mercy,- in that let them rejoice": that is better than the (wealth) they hoard.
Say: "See ye what things Allah hath sent down to you for sustenance? Yet ye hold forbidden some things thereof and (some things) lawful." Say: "Hath Allah indeed permitted you, or do ye invent (things) to attribute to Allah?"
And what think those who invent lies against Allah, of the Day of Judgment? Verily Allah is full of bounty to mankind, but most of them are ungrateful.
In whatever business thou mayest be, and whatever portion thou mayest be reciting from the Qur'an,- and whatever deed ye (mankind) may be doing,- We are witnesses thereof when ye are deeply engrossed therein. Nor is hidden from thy Lord (so much as) the weight of an atom on the earth or in heaven. And not the least and not the greatest of these things but are recorded in a clear record.
Behold! verily on the friends of Allah there is no fear, nor shall they grieve;
Those who believe and (constantly) guard against evil;-
For them are glad tidings, in the life of the present and in the Hereafter; no change can there be in the words of Allah. This is indeed the supreme felicity.
Let not their speech grieve thee: for all power and honour belong to Allah: It is He Who heareth and knoweth (all things).
Behold! verily to Allah belong all creatures, in the heavens and on earth. What do they follow who worship as His "partners" other than Allah? They follow nothing but fancy, and they do nothing but lie.
He it is That hath made you the night that ye may rest therein, and the day to make things visible (to you). Verily in this are signs for those who listen (to His Message).
They say: "Allah hath begotten a son!" - Glory be to Him! He is self-sufficient! His are all things in the heavens and on earth! No warrant have ye for this! say ye about Allah what ye know not?
Say: "Those who invent a lie against Allah will never prosper."
A little enjoyment in this world!- and then, to Us will be their return, then shall We make them taste the severest penalty for their blasphemies.
Relate to them the story of Noah. Behold! he said to his people: "O my people, if it be hard on your (mind) that I should stay (with you) and commemorate the signs of Allah,- yet I put my trust in Allah. Get ye then an agreement about your plan and among your partners, so your plan be on to you dark and dubious. Then pass your sentence on me, and give me no respite.
"But if ye turn back, (consider): no reward have I asked of you: my reward is only due from Allah, and I have been commanded to be of those who submit to Allah's will (in Islam)."
They rejected Him, but We delivered him, and those with him, in the Ark, and We made them inherit (the earth), while We overwhelmed in the flood those who rejected Our Signs. Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not)!
Then after him We sent (many) messengers to their peoples: they brought them Clear Signs, but they would not believe what they had already rejected beforehand. Thus do We seal the hearts of the transgressors.
Then after them sent We Moses and Aaron to Pharaoh and his chiefs with Our Signs. But they were arrogant: they were a people in sin.
When the Truth did come to them from Us, they said: "This is indeed evident sorcery!"
Said Moses: "Say ye (this) about the truth when it hath (actually) reached you? Is sorcery (like) this? But sorcerers will not prosper."
They said: "Hast thou come to us to turn us away from the ways we found our fathers following,- in order that thou and thy brother may have greatness in the land? But not we shall believe in you!"
Said Pharaoh: "Bring me every sorcerer well versed."
When the sorcerers came, Moses said to them: "Throw ye what ye (wish) to throw!"
When they had had their throw, Moses said: "What ye have brought is sorcery: Allah will surely make it of no effect: for Allah prospereth not the work of those who make mischief.
"And Allah by His words doth prove and establish His truth, however much the sinners may hate it!"
But none believed in Moses except some children of his people, because of the fear of Pharaoh and his chiefs, lest they should persecute them; and certainly Pharaoh was mighty on the earth and one who transgressed all bounds.
Moses said: "O my people! If ye do (really) believe in Allah, then in Him put your trust if ye submit (your will to His)."
They said: "In Allah do we put out trust. Our Lord! make us not a trial for those who practise oppression;
"And deliver us by Thy Mercy from those who reject (Thee)."
We inspired Moses and his brother with this Message: "Provide dwellings for your people in Egypt, make your dwellings into places of worship, and establish regular prayers: and give glad tidings to those who believe!"
Moses prayed: "Our Lord! Thou hast indeed bestowed on Pharaoh and his chiefs splendour and wealth in the life of the present, and so, Our Lord, they mislead (men) from Thy Path. Deface, our Lord, the features of their wealth, and send hardness to their hearts, so they will not believe until they see the grievous penalty."
Allah said: "Accepted is your prayer (O Moses and Aaron)! So stand ye straight, and follow not the path of those who know not."
We took the Children of Israel across the sea: Pharaoh and his hosts followed them in insolence and spite. At length, when overwhelmed with the flood, he said: "I believe that there is no god except Him Whom the Children of Israel believe in: I am of those who submit (to Allah in Islam)."
(It was said to him): "Ah now!- But a little while before, wast thou in rebellion!- and thou didst mischief (and violence)!
"This day shall We save thee in the body, that thou mayest be a sign to those who come after thee! but verily, many among mankind are heedless of Our Signs!"
We settled the Children of Israel in a beautiful dwelling-place, and provided for them sustenance of the best: it was after knowledge had been granted to them, that they fell into schisms. Verily Allah will judge between them as to the schisms amongst them, on the Day of Judgment.
If thou wert in doubt as to what We have revealed unto thee, then ask those who have been reading the Book from before thee: the Truth hath indeed come to thee from thy Lord: so be in no wise of those in doubt.
Nor be of those who reject the signs of Allah, or thou shalt be of those who perish.
Those against whom the word of thy Lord hath been verified would not believe-
Even if every Sign was brought unto them,- until they see (for themselves) the penalty grievous.
Why was there not a single township (among those We warned), which believed,- so its faith should have profited it,- except the people of Jonah? When they believed, We removed from them the penalty of ignominy in the life of the present, and permitted them to enjoy (their life) for a while.
If it had been thy Lord's will, they would all have believed,- all who are on earth! wilt thou then compel mankind, against their will, to believe!
No soul can believe, except by the will of Allah, and He will place doubt (or obscurity) on those who will not understand.
Say: "Behold all that is in the heavens and on earth"; but neither Signs nor Warners profit those who believe not.
Do they then expect (any thing) but (what happened in) the days of the men who passed away before them? Say: "Wait ye then: for I, too, will wait with you."
In the end We deliver Our messengers and those who believe: Thus is it fitting on Our part that We should deliver those who believe!
Say: "O ye men! If ye are in doubt as to my religion, (behold!) I worship not what ye worship, other than Allah! But I worship Allah - Who will take your souls (at death): I am commanded to be (in the ranks) of the Believers,
"And further (thus): 'set thy face towards religion with true piety, and never in any wise be of the Unbelievers;
"'Nor call on any, other than Allah;- Such will neither profit thee nor hurt thee: if thou dost, behold! thou shalt certainly be of those who do wrong.'"
If Allah do touch thee with hurt, there is none can remove it but He: if He do design some benefit for thee, there is none can keep back His favour: He causeth it to reach whomsoever of His servants He pleaseth. And He is the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
Say: "O ye men! Now Truth hath reached you from your Lord! those who receive guidance,do so for the good of their own souls; those who stray, do so to their own loss: and I am not (set) over you to arrange your affairs."
Follow thou the inspiration sent unto thee, and be patient and constant, till Allah do decide: for He is the best to decide.

shirdi flight packages from bangalore
ABOUT SAIBABA
Long time ago, at the beginning of eighteenth century a young bearded man with sparkling eyes took shelter in a mosque, in Shirdi Village (of Maharshtra State, In India) . Nobody knew from where this stranger had come who hardly spoke a word and stayed there.
He is the self of all
 He is the Universal Life
He is the indwelling Cosmic Spirit
He is the Imminent Immortal Reality
 He is Self-Existent, Self-Luminous Truth
 He is the Static Reality
He is the moving force behind Creation
 He is the Supreme Guide
 He is the Goal
He is All - The whole in part - play in umpteen forms
Gradually the curious villagers started offering food to the man, but he never asked anything from them. Sometimes he    shared his food with the animals. Soon the young fakir, as he was started to be addressed, started expressing his view points with few elderly villagers. His simple language of expresssion and his special power of solving the problems of  shirdi flight packages from bangalore  poor needy and destitutes soon made this less known fakir, known as Shri Sai Baba.
His life and relationship  shirdi flight packages from bangalore   with the common man was his teaching.
To the Hindus he was an orthodox Brahmin, with a sacred fire, enjoining the worship of many shirdi flight packages from bangalore   gods and the devout study of various Hindu scriptures. He lived in a mosque but always  referred to it as "Dwarkamay!" (Lord Krishna's birth place is Dwaraka).

Wisdom of Solomon
Chapter 05
Then shall the righteous man stand in great boldness before the face of such as have afflicted him, and made no account of his labours.
When they see it, they shall be troubled with terrible fear, and shall be amazed at the strangeness of his salvation, so far beyond all that they looked for.
And they repenting and groaning for anguish of spirit shall say within themselves, This was he, whom we had sometimes in derision, and a proverb of reproach:
We fools accounted his life madness, and his end to be without honour:
How is he numbered among the children of God, and his lot is among the saints!
Therefore have we erred from the way of truth, and the light of righteousness hath not shined unto us, and the sun of righteousness rose not upon us.
We wearied ourselves in the way of wickedness and destruction: yea, we have gone through deserts, where there lay no way: but as for the way of the Lord, we have not known it.
What hath pride profited us? or what good hath riches with our vaunting brought us?
 All those things are passed away like a shadow, and as a post that hasted by;
 And as a ship that passeth over the waves of the water, which when it is gone by, the trace thereof cannot be found, neither the pathway of the keel in the waves;
 Or as when a bird hath flown through the air, there is no token of her way to be found, but the light air being beaten with the stroke of her wings and parted with the violent noise and motion of them, is passed through, and therein afterwards no sign where she went is to be found;
Or like as when an arrow is shot at a mark, it parteth the air, which immediately cometh together again, so that a man cannot know where it went through:
Even so we in like manner, as soon as we were born, began to draw to our end, and had no sign of virtue to shew; but were consumed in our own wickedness.
For the hope of the Godly is like dust that is blown away with the wind; like a thin froth that is driven away with the storm; like as the smoke which is dispersed here and there with a tempest, and passeth away as the remembrance of a guest that tarrieth but a day.
But the righteous live for evermore; their reward also is with the Lord, and the care of them is with the most High.
Therefore shall they receive a glorious kingdom, and a beautiful crown from the Lord's hand: for with his right hand shall he cover them, and with his arm shall he protect them.
He shall take to him his jealousy for complete armour, and make the creature his weapon for the revenge of his enemies.
He shall put on righteousness as a breastplate, and true judgment instead of an helmet.
He shall take holiness for an invincible shield.
His severe wrath shall he sharpen for a sword, and the world shall fight with him against the unwise.
Then shall the right aiming thunderbolts go abroad; and from the clouds, as from a well drawn bow, shall they fly to the mark.
And hailstones full of wrath shall be cast as out of a stone bow, and the water of the sea shall rage against them, and the floods shall cruelly drown them.
Yea, a mighty wind shall stand up against them, and like a storm shall blow them away: thus iniquity shall lay waste the whole earth, and ill dealing shall overthrow the thrones of the mighty.
Wisdom of Solomon
Chapter 06
Hear therefore, O ye kings, and understand; learn, ye that be judges of the ends of the earth.
Give ear, ye that rule the people, and glory in the multitude of nations.
For power is given you of the Lord, and sovereignty from the Highest, who shall try your works, and search out your counsels.
 Because, being ministers of his kingdom, ye have not judged aright, nor kept the law, nor walked after the counsel of God;
Horribly and speedily shall he come upon you: for a sharp judgment shall be to them that be in high places.
For mercy will soon pardon the meanest: but mighty men shall be mightily tormented.
For he which is Lord over all shall fear no man's person, neither shall he stand in awe of any man's greatness: for he hath made the small and great, and careth for all alike.
But a sore trial shall come upon the mighty.
Unto you therefore, O kings, do I speak, that ye may learn wisdom, and not fall away.
For they that keep holiness holily shall be judged holy: and they that have learned such things shall find what to answer.
Wherefore set your affection upon my words; desire them, and ye shall be instructed.
Wisdom is glorious, and never fadeth away: yea, she is easily seen of them that love her, and found of such as seek her.
Again, one preparing himself to sail, and about to pass through the raging waves, calleth upon a piece of wood more rotten than the vessel that carrieth him.
