Ok so I've seen Parabolan Reflection on dash and I know to throw this at the community.

Morgan have had the Shadow Vestige of a Curator as their reflection way long BEFORE they became a Silverer and encountered the concept of dream self/reflection.

So Morgan's reflection is its own thing plotting bloody murderer and revenge on Morgan themselves AND Morgand DOESN'T HAVE a dream self anymore!

And they're firmly convinced that's normal and it works like that, your conscious mind slips into the mirror (or if you're skilled enough your body too) and there you can shape shift at will. (They do)

They therefore do not get that the majority of Reflections out there aren't forms choosen but rather than just ARE. They are convinced that everyone just goes with whatever is more comfortable/they relate to more.

If you happen to witness Morgan entering a mirror one of the two will happen:

Their body collapses as Mirrors takes over keeping it safe for when Morgan returns;

They just pass through like through a sheen of water, consider what their task and what their surrounding place look like and just Animorph into the shape they think are more fit;

the FL MtG cards are here!

this is like my fourth batch, but i haven't posted any of the previous ones, so let me show off some of the cards from all the batches!

briar and his three mr stoneses! these are the face commanders of the deck. there are alternate commanders that you'll see later, but this is the pair that i like using the most often.

more masters! (and bazaar-aligned entities). all the masters in the deck are vampires, and they also all have the seal of the bazaar as a watermark. just a neat bit of visual clarity, i think!

ocs! incuding mine. not all of them will be able to make it into the deck proper (for deck size and colour identity reasons) but i'm still so happy to have them all.

basic lands: seven of each. these gave me so much hassle back when i made them, but i think they turned out well!!! apart from the edge mountains which are like 70% black.

more lands! a triplet of creatureland which i feel work very well. the rest of them are neat too. whenever i say i have an underground sea proxy in the deck, people give me a Look, but how could i not! it's a perfect fit.

dfcs! the frames of these all had to be done by hand, which always took a while. i still think they turned out incredibly well, all things considered.

more creatures!! some legendary, some not. i made the decision pretty early that if i represent a named character with a nonlegendary card, i'd just cut the "the" from the name (see sallow spirifer and voracious diplomat). i think it works!

and noncreatures!! there's a vague treasure theme in the deck (as can be seen in the fall of london, revel in riches and spirifage (as well as a lot of the creatures)) but honestly most of the cards are flavour picks. still, artificial evolution has gotten me out of some jams. fun card!

aaaand tokens! which is everything. i reckon when i play this deck properly, i'll report back any fun scrapes that anyone's characters get into. like getting turned into a bug, or killing the god of death.

@thunder-threnodies Felt like this definitely deserved its own post. I absolutely agree, and there is some precedent for it in how the Oneirotects help the Great Game spies develop and fortify their "mind palace", presumably referring to the method for memorization through visualization.

Though with the existence of Midnighters and the Great Game canonically using Irrigo and other methods to also alter memories that might otherwise keep their agents from completing their work, I think the two could imply that Silverers could influence more active alterations to the minds of sleepers.

After all, we see the public consensus being swayed in Parabola, when war is being waged. (I don't have the screenshot, but specifically: Provide A Distaction in the Fallen London theater, where the dreams of London's populace are tied to strength in Parabola).

And it especially seems possible when you consider the overlap between different professions, namely the more abstract capabilities of Schismatic Crooked Crosses in particular:

There is quite obviously a manipulable self, and it is definitely tied to Parabola. The Crooked Cross seems to also have some knowledge of this, if not the same scope that Silverers understand Parabola, with even the Beatificator working in the Waswood for their tasks. Meanwhile the Fractionist Licentiate seems to work on the more physical side to manipulate the same.

I love the implications of the self in Fallen London.

4. The scrimshander can in fact ride a horse, and pretty well, although it tends to make horses very nervous, which can add some unforseen layers of challenge. Its less skilled at riding a bike, but it can do it; it limbs are just a bit too long to make it comfortable. It can drive a coach, but again, it tends to scare the horses, so it really shouldn't, unless you don't mind getting where you're going at a frantic gallop.

the scoundrel REALLY doesn't take well to dream intrusions. they don't take well to any amount of messing with their mind, but. well. dreams are perhaps the thing that irritates them most of all. any amount of scoundrel dream diving would have to be quick, delicate, and most definitely behind their back- and they will notice regardless, and they will hold a grudge for the rest of their stupidly long batty life about it.

as for the actual contents of those dreams, well...

when they first achieved their ambition, the scoundrel used to dream of flower fields and starry skies. as time has gone on, this dream has. Distorted, somewhat.

the flowers have become wilder. the grass has become twisted and tangled amidst thorns and thickets. the stars have started blinking in and out of existence. ice has started creeping up along the edges of her mind, like a memory she just. can't quite get rid of.

(there's a certain city in the distance. he always tries not to look at it. he always fails.)

it's oddly peaceful, once you get past the frost and the foliage. the scoundrel usually sits at the valley's heart, surrounded by a web of dahlias and daisies. her exact dreams vary wildly, but no matter what, he always plays them out at the center, like the entire dreamscape is just a stage for that night's particular performance. there's always a chance to step away and go further into the field, if he wills it. he never seems to realize it's an option in the first place.

when her mind is kind, and quiet, she does have normal nights. simple time spent with her paramours. joyous days as a beast, hanging upside down and snacking on fruit and bugs to her heart's content. simply existing as she wills it.

but. well. most of her plays aren't that. most of her plays can only be best described as nightmares. her entire dreamscape is essentially one big fancy backdrop to that.

most often the play is a memory. a small mistake she made, a social interaction she floundered. sometimes it's a surgical appointment with her coworkers. sometimes it's an argument with someone he's never gotten over. sometimes it's performing open heart surgery on someone wearing her own face. sometimes it's a monkey and a single bronze fruit, never eaten.

sometimes it's a corpse pinning him against the ground and screaming, wailing, begging for the answer as to why he's done what he's done.

other times her dream-performance is more... esoteric. flocks of bats he can't quite recognize. a mirror he can't quite look through. a star commanding him to put a leash around his neck, which he obeys with utmost gratitude.

he tends to prefer those nights. they hit less closer to home.

for all of his power in parabola, he gets lost in his own dreams... Very Very Very Easily. it's probably part of why he's so protective over them. being seen completely enveloped in a torment nexus your own mind made up isn't exactly stellar for one's image. having her dreams exposed and sifted through is Deeply Unpleasant to the scoundrel. it means she's vulnerable. open. human.

and her mind can't imagine anything more terrifying than that.

Reading the bit about Apis Meet in Sunless Sea they specifically scream your name along that of the ship. This rises a whole lot of new questions about identities, doesn't it?

But to answer your question. Yes there absolutely are superstitions about names and ships and blue prophets and yes each group/crew/ship thinks they got it right unlike everyone else.

That's true untill they hear their own names cried out loud.

if blue prophets yell the names of ships that are about to die via strange fate magic. do zailors have really strong opinions and traditions around changing a ship's name. the debates would go crazy

traditions...changing your ship name every so often to keep the blue prophets & fate on their toes vs zailors who would never ever change a ship name bc it's disrespectful to try and trick them

zailors thinking it's a death wish to zail on an unnamed ship because if there's no name for the birds to shout then you have no warning, and it'll piss off the zee gods enough to strike you down personally

myths about certain names being lucky or unlucky....debates on whether it's better to choose common or uncommon names...legends about which sounds blue prophets find more difficult to pronounce so should be included in your ship name, for safety, or not included so you don't anger them...there's so much
