Thule Jace was left alone in the world when he was just 16. He only had 6 years of happiness with the Lightwoods (although he was still struggling to heal after 10 years of abuse with Valentine), only knew Clary for 6 months and never took the Herondale surname. He saw each one of the people he loved die, had to kill the only mother he ever had, and then got stuck in Edom alone with Sebastian, who controlled him and forbid him to think of the loved ones he lost forever. As if it wasn’t enough, for next 8 years Sebastian took what was left of him and used it for his own interests, making Jace a heartless killer. But even after all of this, Jace was still able to love and protect Ash as if he was his own son. If this doesn’t say a lot about how pure Jace really is.
