So I DO NOT THINK this E.G.O is based on the Chinese story of the magic goose. Or Turandot. Or anything Chinese for that matter. The outfit she wears is clearly not remotely Chinese, and no, the ribbon is not her hair. The updo and the wide ballgown reminds me in fact of European fashion that was prevalent for a long time, especially in France and Italy.

I don't believe it's Turandot because there was only ONE line where peking duck is alluded to for its color when it is burnt. The story also does not match up, being your run off the mill "riddle solver gets the princess" story. This E.G.O has themes of vindicating others and sparing no one, even if the reasons are inane.

This E.G.O is NOT Chinese. But what is it then? The answer might come out of left field.

In Monty Python, there is a scene where a witch trial is satirized. It's said history had was a test, you see, to decide whether a person was a witch or not. Witches travel by broomstick, so the logic was that they had to be light enough to do so. The test involved drowning them - if they floated, they were thus a witch. Similar tests based on the same principle merely weighed them; there are locations where these "witch scales" can still be viewed - my country has Oudewater, which scale predictably found no one guilty.

Quite an inane idea, is it not? Well, the makers thought so too and it wasn't hard for them to make a sketch out of it. Note what is said in the end.

They are looking for examples of things that do not drown, and the eventually settle on ducks. So, if they weigh the same as a duck, they should float and thus be deemed a witch.

This is why in the normal attack enemies are weighed against ducks, the scale comes up equal, and the enemies suffering their punishment as such. I think the whole stage and performance is meant to show that it was merely a show trial for people in history whom society did not accept, instead of something genuine (fear of witches was big in the past).

(Funfact - her dress gives me less medieval, more early modern period, which would align with the time when the majority of witch trials took place (the sketch thus has the time wrong by placing it in the medieval age)).

okay, i know i just posted that thing about not updating for like the 2 following months, but i also just want to get this out there so i know if i should do this or not when i have time.

the ask blog would be mainly non-linear, and would be for asking questions to characters in the story regarding lore, thoughts and opinions etc at certain parts of the story. it would definitely be supplementary to the main fic. would probably include extra scenes in illustration, bonuses etc.

You may say 'why not just make it?', but my reason for doing this is that i dont just want a dead blog X')....it would hurtie my feelies...../hj

Ahead of this week’s HOTD I want to say that in times of emotional stress when people who love each other argue, sometimes both of them have a point. Like if you ship something you don’t have to take sides or even feel one character has the “right” over another.

It’s cool to just look at two characters and say “yeah, I see where both of them are coming from” and leave it at that.

Rebooted an old historical fiction OC a couple months ago though nervous about revealing it.

A take of Vlad the Impaler and Dracula, but with a different story and background that leads to present day and takes place in present day. Though there are historical nods it’s purely fictional, don’t rely on this for historical accuracy.

Okay recently That’s Not My Neighbor has become one of my hyperfixations (the song is too good and I hate horror but this game has me in a chokehold 😭)

Anyways… Should I make a rp blog for it or no? Is there any interest for it?? (I’d probably do Francis (or his Nightmare version (Yog)) or a doppelgänger version of Francis… or maybe someone from the DDD idk?)

Idk if I should do it though because sometimes I get burnt out with rp blogs… And if I don’t have that much interaction then I don’t check it that often…
