Player Party Antics

Throwback to that time I was running a DnD game, and described a cobble well at the end of this dungeon. Made it all kinds of creepy, bad vibes, waves of heat and cold coming from it. I had planned on them turning around and having to fight the gelatinous cube that impeded their way back out.

My players dropped a rock down it. I described the fall as about 600 feet. One player proudly stated he had prepared feather-fall on his wizard.

....

Those fuckers jumped into the well. Of course, they had featherfall.

Session over. DM needs to figure out what's at the bottom of the well.

for podcasts, i've listened to the new counter/weight prequel eps! i'm so charmed to see these characters again. i still haven't finished millenium break holiday special because i lost my spot when a bunch of an episode played without sound by accident so i finally went and scrubbed back to the beginning of the episode (it's the second to last part) so by next week i will FINALLY be out of holiday special zone.

reading: finished rereading tgcf lol,,, in loving memory of square checkbox: apparently apple is switching to circle ones? hateful wikipedia page for kessler syndrome my friend @celestialtourguide sent me a dm to ask about a few of the characters in this manuscript and i was immediately charmed by it. it's so pretty, i loved the informational blurbs, just really cool stuff. it was already on waybackmachine but i've gone ahead and updated it.

watching: kurtis conner looksmaxxing. weird little subculture peek. rewatched sideways' why the music in cats 2019 is worse than you thought because my roommate was interested. this led us to the same channel's why avatar has the most ironic soundtrack of all time because roommate misread ironic as iconic and she really likes that movie. no accounting for taste, but aight. much more interesting than i thought it would be. that video then lead us to tony hinnigan's woodwind demos because hell fuckin yes. big-ass panpipes.

i've been keeping up on dunmeshi anime in little watch sessions with my SO, and also am working through kill la kill with him! i've seen it before but he has not so i'm really enjoying that.

making: i managed to finish my secret samol gift in time for reveal day!!! comics are fuckin hard dude!!!! i don't know if i'll be doing it again but it was a fun challenge. i decided to use a New App for some reason instead of procreate because procreate has not been hitting right and i wanted comic half tone brushes for this project. app is called sketchbook, it's an orange icon with a pencil on it. shrug! it's fine! i'll probably keep using it for a bit. started working on an english paper piecing project! soliciting tips for that because right now my method is: cut out hexagon using pattern piece i made to be 1/4 in larger all around than the template, gluestick template onto hexagon, baste edges down neatly, whip-stitch right sides together. remove template once all six sides have something attached. i'm sure there's a better way to streamline this process, i'll have to experiment. this will end up as a dice bag i think.

finally, pottery starts again this week! so next week will have some of that in here

eating: ah beans i did not do a good job keeping track of this. uh. made the ground pork & cabbage thing again because my roommate got SO much napa cabbage for making kimchi and we had a shitload left over. napa cabbage isn't as good as a more standard cabbage for this imo, standard cabbage tends to be a little sweeter i think once it's cooked in? idk. had some stage 5 mental illness moments last week trying to cook dinner on a very short time scale with lots of other shit to do, following a recipe because fucking of course my roommate wanted me to cook with a recipe that night. anyways.

misc: like said at the top, somehow i managed to sign up for Another Activity god damn it. so now every saturday evening i run dnd. tl;dr i'm in a group irl that meets biweekly, someone who i give a lift to for that was complaining in the car that their other online group's dm ragequit after his encounter wasn't well-balanced (skill issue) and before thinking about it i just was like oh well i could probably step in if you need! god damn ittttt lol i have missed dming so it should be fun. i vibe checked them for a session 0 last week and they seem chill and honestly shouldn't be too much work on my end, especially if i yoink plots from mdzs ha ha ha. other than that, all is basically well. i've settled back into a schedule, applied for some summer positions (!), and absolutely hate the amount of busy work in one of my two classes. yippee

I am missing dnd once again so throwback to my poor drow fighter who died in her first session. The party woke up in basic clothes in a dungeon and the dm rolled to give each of us one item. My fighter got a short length of rope. My dm was later surprised that I used it as a garotte.

Coming from the player who used a pair of found pants as an improvised blindfold in a previous game 🤣

Also, she died because a guard got the jump on her and critted with a greatsword. Rolled total damage of 25 when her max hp was 12. So even had she not been injured from a previous skirmish, she would have been straight up dead anyways

DND Session Summary 16

been some months since last time I played but at least DM has stuff ready for next time, tho dunno when that’ll be

This time actually had quite a bit of RP stuff but we spent more time dungeon crawling cause we take it p slow cause everyone just waiting for me to scout ahead :pensive:

- Session starts where last one ended. We were at the inn with Myriam, a Paladin inquisitor, discussing our next move. We’re helping with an investigation on the Azure Rose guild and decide to go to their HQ to see if we can find out anything. - The butler greets us and takes us to the boss’ office, leaving us alone there for a while. We search through it and find a letter from Althidon, one of the BIG baddies we encountered before. - The letter was written in giant but luckily our Pally can read it. However, it was in code and he couldn’t understand it except for a phrase he recognized, but didn’t know what it meant: “a world being hidden under the world.” - We hear footsteps approaching and I put the letter back, and got chastised by everyone. Which in hindsight is fair but I was trynna make it look like we didn’t search the room :( - We talk with the Azure Rose leader, Fenrir, about his people attacking another guild but he pretends he doesn’t know anything about it. We stop being coy and say that we saw his goons killing people but he acts aloof since we “can’t prove it”. - He’s suspicious that we rummaged his room but the Cleric manages to convince him otherwise. After that he tells us to go away. - After that meeting we went to the Prismatic Mirage HQ, the guild that AR attacked, only its leaders arguing about these recent attacks. - We introduced ourselves, said what happened and why we’re here. They then told us that they used to be part of AR but one day Fenrir changed and started lying, stealing and killing, so they left. - We told them about the letter and what we know of Althidon, and that might be the reason he changed. One of the PM members also recognized the phrase but didn’t remember from where. Another of the members tells us about a “labyrinth” under the AR HQ that might have  - We regrouped with Myriam and told her our findings. She says that the pallies have found multiple codes like the ones we did, and gave us some decryptions for them. She also told us we should investigate the place under the AR HQ. We decide to leave right away to approach it stealthly since it was nighttime. - We find the entrance but it’s locked with a magical barrier with some inscriptions. We use the dechipered code that Myriam gave us and figure out the letter to symbol combination. However, after that it was an anagram which took us a lot longer to figure out. The answer was “Hard Earth” and we just threw a rock at it and it worked lmao. - We explore the place fighting some goons along the way. Find some documents about how people in here are researching the relation between lycanthropy and lizard people (thing big baddie was looking into), and how Fenrir hired some werepeople. - Among those things was also a lewd pin-up of a furry wolf girl which the cleric took instantly. (throwback to session 9 where we found drow pin-up) - Cleric rushed out to attack a guy and got instantly clapped to exactly 0 HP on the crackback. The Pally didn’t heal him and just rushed the guy (not first time it’s happened) but I went and fed him a potion. - After some exploration we get into another combat  where the Sorc gets crit by a werebear, which made chewbacca noises. The Cleric says “Don’t worry I got you” and casts Healing Word, using his only lvl4 slot, with this roll, resulting on every having a good laugh, especially the DM who lost it.

- We kept exploring and some a buncha non hostile people like maids, cooks and smiths which we just walked past. - We came across a room with a buncha goons and werepeople. I tried to nonchalantly walk past them but it didn’t and we had to fight them. However, the Sorc cast a circle Wall of Fire which basically covered the whole room and everyone but a werebear died when it came down/tried to get out of it. - After that we went into a dorm-like room and close ourselves in there to take a rest and end the session there.

I am enjoying the season A LOT. The reveal has been thrown already, everything seems to be leading towards something special about Rock Mom and I couldn't hope for something better!! I know Lou will be back so I guess a flashback?... I'M SO EXCITED 💕💕

In these recent seasons adventurers just won't like to do adventures for one reason or another, first uncle Powers, now these guys? I mean Ninjago is in danger every freaking time and you risk your life at every step and there's a new formidable villain every like five seconds but... huh... what was my point again?

Huh... Gotta love a good throwback doodle session ♡

Pictured above are 3 old ocs that I just don't use anymore. Actually uncovered them while talking w/ @neonsix67 and I got inspired to redraw them today as a cooldown after working on a wip for like 2 hours.

Far Left is Alagreya, who was an old utau oc, meant to be a "warrior who was trained to defend humans, the last of her clan to follow those traditions".

Top right is Salvific, who was an early concept design for my current persona, N. Not much to her past a semi-cool design.

Bottom right is Vacive, an unused dnd character of mine. He was meant to be a Dark Aasimar Paladin, who was punished for breaking tradition and ran away from his home instead of facing more consequences. He was caught in a landslide during his early travels, and one of his wings was completely crushed. (Some temple found him and took him in, and now he acts as a soldier to fulfill the prophecies laid out by his goddess.)

These three are some of my favorite old designs, and gods honestly I have the sudden urge to just make Vacive a reoccurring oc, so expect more of him.
